I'd like to see how they're going to explain Manuel having been dead for 20 years, the hotel where they stayed having been abandoned 10 years ago, Paola disappearing after drinking lemonade, and Laura smoking a cigar and watching them. Is any explanation possible? This show is just getting stupid. But we do have some things we can count on, like the guards of Mariana letting her leave her baby alone, and letting her go off without them in the mall, which they were told not to do. And I guess we can count on so-called good characters drinking themselves into a stupor (first it was Ximena and Daniel, who sort of had a reason, now Albeiro and Jota, who didn't).

At least Liset, Hernan and CataM were reasonable, although they know there's an order to have CataM killed today (it's a long day, I guess). That was nice to lend Liset money to start a business.

We haven't seen Martin in quite a while. I don't miss him, but it would be nice to know something about Valentina and Lucia.

sin-senos3 #38

where's Mariana, Cata G is worried about the curse, calls the Colonel who's waiting to see Daniel's doc, he'll look into it. (don't bother to mention the hit on Cata M for TODAY)

our guys in Quinchia wander around waiting for the search warrant, the boys go check on the car, the girls have a seat by the church, Hilda realizes they have walked all around town but did not see the way out.

Diabla is being moved to a base near the airport, she is being extradited tomorrow, says goodbye to what's her name.

Cata G gives Tony the nod to hide as she and Santi go look for Mari.

Mariana is picked up by Dayana, she'll give up Cata M if Dayana takes her to Titi.

Carlos is restless, his friend Jari comes and comforts him. (and we are reminded of Laura's control of Abigail's dog, say isn't that the same dog we have seen running around)

Mari tells Titi he is a papa, laughs all around.

Dayana thinks it might be a good time for Titi to have a daughter, hmm, he remembers holding cata P, if she's mine, I'll make sure everyone forgets the other Catalinas.

the boys are back, the car is gone and the mechanic has been dead for 10 years.

while searching for Mari, Cata spills that Titi is the papa, screech, the car comes to a quick stop while Santi has a heart attack, no, he pukes, no, he screams, no, runs off, nope, but he's working on something, he goes to Cata, why???

Dayana is easing Titi into this family business, she has Mari show him baby pics, he wants to see her, nope, she is with my parents, and where will Mari live, with Titi of course, ah, Dayana slides in again and offers her Villa's house, where Titi is currently living.

Cata will look for Dayana, but first leave the baby with Cata M, what?, with hit men looking for her Santi adds, Cata thinks that's no problem, she'll have the 2 guards watch her house, do you still trust them after losing Mari, Santi adds, this is different she says.

plans have changed, Miguel's bosses have stopped the extradition, something about leaks, they'll have to take Diabla someplace else for now.

Cata G and Santi dump the baby on Cata M and Hernan, what?, just for a few hours, body guards are on the way, Cata M and Hernan talk about adopting if Mari doesn't want her.

Villa is hot to leave, Titi has the merc ready, Dayana is hot for killing Cata M first, Mariana can stay at the house.

Diabla wants Dani's ashes, Miguel says tomorrow, she thinks he is toying with her, he makes it clear if she holds up her end of the bargain so will he, she wants the agreement in writing.

Cata G swings by Dayana's mom's house, neither her nor Liset can help, Tony watches from afar.

Paola, tied to a chair, in a barn looking building, in a witch's room like Abigail's, has found her daughter, nope, it's Laura. (anyone think she might hold a grudge after 30 years)

sin-senos3

Loved your recap, deb! Thanks very much. Enjoyed your snark, such as "says goodbye to what's her name" and "nope, it's Laura. (anyone think she might hold a grudge after 30 years)."

It made me realize that I'd missed some things, such as CataM and Hernan talking about adopting if Mari doesn't want her baby. (Actually, given what a perra Mari is, the baby would probably be a lot better off regardless of what Mari thinks she wants.)

I was pleased to see that you, too, found Santi's response to CataG's telling him that Titi was the father rather strange. Your account describes my reaction as well: "the car comes to a quick stop while Santi has a heart attack, no, he pukes, no, he screams, no, runs off, nope, but he's working on something, he goes to Cata, why???" I wondered whether there was some history between Santi and Titi that I just didn't know about. ???

I was surprised that Titi didn't ask Dayana what happened to her assurance about the morning-after pill she promised to give Mari.

So it looks as if CataG may have another disastrous plan: "Cata will look for Dayana, but first leave the baby with Cata M, what?" Indeed, WHAT???? Even Santi recognizes that this is a foolish and dangerous idea. Oh well....

sin-senos3

Halimacandy, I hope you're right that the reason the show is/has become so insane is that Telemundo is planning to burn it. ¡Ojalá!

And yes, re Martin, no news is good news. His death would be even better news. And I guess best of all would be finding Lucia alive and reasonably well (I'm not holding out much hope for Vale, after all this time).

sin-senos3

thanks Juanita!

Santi knows that Titi was one of Cata G's narco clients from her prepago days as well as a boyfriend, and he wonders if she still is attracted to him, (after all she can't stay away from him) and Mari on the other hand is their innocent precious little girl.

it was her short mission with Titi to get Chalo, that she didn't come back from that prompted him to go off with Soraya.

also of interest this time around, Cata has made it clear that they won't keep things from each other, but has not revealed she is back with the TEA.

sin-senos3

Thanks very much, deb, for the background on Santi and Titi. It helped a lot.

Hmmm, I hadn't realized that CataG hadn't told Santi that she was back with the TEA. I guess that's why she had Tony crouch down inside the car so as not to be seen. I was a bit puzzled.

sin-senos3

Thanks so much, deb. You are my hero for these daily recaps!

I have a strong sense that the maldición will claim it's next victim before too long: Mariana. If any of the 5 (is it 5?) daughters of the chicas del barrio deserves to go, it's Mariana.

Unbelievable for her to join forces with the 100% evil Dayana to kill her own auntie.

And to put her own child at risk of growing up with a narco, and possibly being killed as collateral damage in some drug war, so as to get these people to kill her rival? Well, that's just sociopathic behavior, as Halimacandy said.

I think CataG was working up to tell Santi about re-joining the TEA, but the Mariana Mess sidetracked her.

As to the goings on in that village, I'm not wasting time and keystrokes on it.

sin-senos3

Gah, I'm not going to the trouble of ash-canning my whole comment. But, sheesh Novelera, you know better than "it's next victim". It should be "its next".

sin-senos3 #39

(etapa culminante)

it's dark...

Paola wants out of there, Laura reintroduces herself, as the one who decides who lives and who dies.

the search warrant is ready.

Carlos is remembering his family, we see a new flashback where Hilda and CataG come upon Laura and Yessica, invoking spirits, when they return with Carlos, the candles and ouija board are gone, they are playing with dolls.

Mariana gives up Hernan's location, and the keys to his place, Titi suggests a bomb, this excites Dayana and Mari, Dayana calls off the hitmen.

Cata G reveals to Santi, that she has returned to the TEA, her shadow Tony lurks, Santi thinks they should have made the decision together.

Hilda and all with the police cut the gate lock and enter the hotel, except for Jota and the baby who wait outside, and as they trace their way through the dilapidated hotel they were staying in just that morning, they find no sign of Paola, only a cat.

Soraya awakes but Santi has taken her gun apart, she calls Rocco for another as Mateos lurks, Rocco says she will have to come get it.

as Hilda and all search the hotel rooms, CataG calls to chat, Hilda spills on their dilemma, CataG and Santi will come to get them, and yep, CataM and Hernan are ok with keeping the baby a while longer.

what's her name's job is done being cellmate to Diabla, she talks to the real Fiscal, she doesn't have Titi's location but has the name of the politico that pulls the strings for the narcos.

Soraya takes her gun parts to Rocco, asks for help killing CataG, nope, but he introduces her to a guy that will.

the police leave, Hilda and the weary others will wait there in the dark for Cata G, who's on the way, with Tony a few car lengths back.

Dayana clears the bomba idea with Villa, in her bedroom office.

Santi pulls the car over for a walk down memory lane with CataG, as in all of the horrible things that have happen to their family since Cata brought them to Colombia, and NOW she has rejoined the TEA.

Tony is lost as to what's happening, considers calling CataG, but doesn't.

Mateo calls, he lets Santi know that Soraya is on the loose, he's scared, well what else can they do, they head on back to check on him.

sin-senos3

Thanks very much, deb, for another very helpful recap.

I must have missed the "etapa culminante" announcement. I've never quite understood what that intends to convey. I know it means something like "climactic stage," but there was nothing very climactic about this episode. But I guess we're being told that we're getting close to the end, the climax, the culmination. That's welcome news!

I loved your "what's her name's job is done." And apparently Ms WhatsHerName has learned the name of an important politician who's hand in glove with the narcos. It's a bit hard to believe that La Diabla would have revealed such bargainable info.

Well, so much for Mariana's love for Hernan. She not only tell Titi where he and CataM live but also hands over the house keys. Titi decides the best way to accomplish what Mariana wants is with a bomb, little realizing that his new-found baby daughter is currently staying with CataM and Hernan. Oops.

Jota was certainly true to form in this episode: a total coward. He tries to mask this with his gentlemanly "Ladies first," but that just lets him avoid being the first to come upon danger. Moreover, being behind everyone else lets him turn around and stay outside without anyone noticing.

I'm not sure what Santi thinks he's going to accomplish by heading over to Mateo's house, since Soraya has already left. Oh well...looks like Hilda et al. are in for a long wait.

sin-senos3

Thanks for another excellent recap, Deb?
So our group is stuck in the little town, Paola is missing, they can't find their way out, both cars are gone, Manuel died years ago, the hotel closed years ago. Their plan was to take Carlos home, and eventually he'd tell them about Laura. But why don't they JUST ASK the police or townspeople if they know where Bruja Laura is? They've never even asked this, just where to find Carlos, etc. Laura is there, you'd think maybe some of the townspeople know of her. But no. And now they have no place to stay, it's dark, and they don't know that CataG is not coming. I thought it stupid that Cata would come in the middle of the night to begin with, but oh well.

CataG tells CataM that the guards are outside the door now, you, Hernan and the baby are safe. Yeah, right. Those guards were incompetent before, don't think they'll change.

It takes hours to get from one place to another in this show, except when it doesn't, such as Soraya arriving at Rocco's finca in about 2 minutes. I think the weirdo who's going to help her is named Alvaro. Soraya told him she was a doctor, what about you? Drug dealer, he says. He's very interested in her case (he likes crazy women?) Something's a little off here.

BTW, we did finally learn the name of Yesica's cellmate, it was Lucrezia So maybe her info about the politician will be of some help. Or not.

Yes I agree, Mariana made quite a change from loving her baby to wanting to kill CataM so much she's willing for Hernan to die, and doesn't know that they have the baby. And Titi as well, would not want the baby to die. So hopefully he'll find out in time to stop things from blowing up too much.

One more thing. Hilda, Albeiro and crew have smartphones. I think they should start taking pictures of things or recording things, in case the next day they're revealed to have been gone 20 years ago. Not that this is guaranteed, Laura could case a spell to turn their smartphones into dumbphones.

I wonder if they've given Yesica shoes yet. Last we saw she was still barefoot (but wearing a bullet proof vest). Not exactly standard TEA procedure, but what do I know?

sin-senos3

that question mark was a typo, it should have been thanks for the recap, Deb!

sin-senos3

thanks all!

Juanita, for me etapa culminante usually applies to the final third of the story where no new storylines are introduced and the ones we have are wrapping up, and this is consistent with the novela ending in September.

I wonder if Diabla gave whats-her-name, the name of a politico she didn't like, this was a strange storyline because it doesn't seem to be connected to any of our regular guys.

yep, Santi and CataG driving around in the dark like a couple of teenagers on a date, followed by Tony who for some reason in the dark was reminding me of a werewolf.

Hombre, thanks so much for your posts all week, you pick up a lot of little details and add a lot of color to the story, I really appreciate it.

Laura supposedly was at an unknown location in the mountains, which shouldn't be too hard to find with all the torches and candles burning round the clock.

I was wondering if the bomb is some kind of plan Titi has or whether it's just a way to prevent CataG from linking the deaths to him.

Thanks again, deb, for another fine recap.

I also was SO annoyed by Jota staying behind saving his skin, when his wife, or partner, not sure about their marital or non-marital status, went into Spooky Town. How can this woman tolerate him?

Well CataM and Hernán are, I think, quite safe. Other than the odd miscarriage, they never kill babies in telenovelas. Speaking of miscarriages, I think I've seen two novelas where the villana loses the baby she'd planned to use to trap the galán, and then tries to wear pillow pregnancies for 6 or 7 months.

I think Titi is still trying to find a way to foil Dayana and save CataM.

One thing is for sure about Telemundo etapas culminantes, they will feature lots and lots of flashbacks, including ones from this season and ones we saw two weeks ago!

FALCO – Capítulo 3, Parte 1 de 3

We see a dark park with lots of trees and a woman running, gasping, clutching her stomach and yelling for help. She stumbles into a shack, whimpering. We see a man with a flashlight and a big knife. He proceeds to finish her off.

At the crime scene Falco arrives in his old car. Caballero: Como de costumbre, llegas tarde. When Falco asks if Tenoch missed him, Tenoch mumbles something about Falso looking like a rapper instead of a professional.

Mares is there and tells Falco that Paula is coming home today. Eva Salomón arrives; she greets Caballero and Mares and ignores Falco. Mares: "The victim is Dolores Iturbe, 54 years old, with two knife wounds. She was killed between 10-12 at night."

Falco finds the shack where Iturbe was killsed and the word “Ana” written in blood on the wall.

TC (Caballero) says that Iturbe was a psychiatrist. When Falco asks if the woman was famous, TC replies that the victim was a woman and that makes the case a priority for Salomón.

Iturbe’s daughter identifies the body and says that she picked up her mother at the airport after she’d been to a conference in Guadalajara.

Salomón tells Falco and TC that they got a search warrant for the victim’s professional office and they should go there. Falco: “Besides being beautiful, she loves to give orders.” TC, smiling: “Welcome to the new millennium.” [I assume he means the 21st Century where women give orders.]

At Iturbe’s office the team talks with Dr. Beltrán. He says he’s a nutriólogo (nutritionist). Dr. Iturbe was looking for someone to share the office space; they’ve shared an office for 3 years. Beltrán tells them that Ana Farah is a patient of Iturbe; she killed herself 2 weeks ago. ["Se tiró a una represa (threw herself into a reservoir)".

The records of Dolores Iturbe say that Ana Farah was depressed and suicidal.

TC and Falco go to see Ana Farah’s widower. Falco asks how they came to consult Dr. Iturbe. Farah responds that, when they came back to Mexico from Houston, he located the doctor because she was recommended to him.

Falco asks TC to drop him outside a café. He’s reading the psychiatrist’s notes for Ana Farah and something is said about being in a room with a painting of Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl, volcanoes near Mexico City. He asks the owner of the café if there are hotels with the names of the volcanoes. He also asks for the yellow pages, and the owner indicates that doesn’t happen much any more.

FALCO – Capítulo 3, Parte 2 de 3

Falco finds the hotel. And TC has also discovered that Roberto Beltrán and Ana Farah came to the Hotel Iztaccíhuatl on Mondays and Wednesdays for about 6 weeks.

TC and Falco confront Beltrán. They tell him he was fired from his last job for having a relationship with a patient who then turned him in for it. “This time you got involved with the patient of a colleague.” Beltrán says that he loved her. He first saw her in the waiting room reading a play by Sor Juana. TC thinks this could be a motive to kill the doctor; a second accusation could finish him. But Salomón says he’s innocent; she watched the interview.

Falco: “Iturbe’s daughter says her mother was nervous when she returned from Guadalajara, but Beltrán said she was in a good mood prior to leaving. Something happened there.” They discover that she changed her 5:15 flight to a later one.

Falco goes to his old apartment and finds Paula there. [I think he was supposed to pick her up at the airport, but she took an earlier flight.] Mares, being snarky for some reason, asks why Falco didn’t bring her a gift. This sets Falco off and they almost come to blows. Falco tells him he was only a consolation prize for Carolina. Falco gets a bit woozy and leaves.

At the office the next morning a hung over Falco, Eva, and TC review the security cameras. They see Dr. Iturbe being upset meeting a woman there. Meanwhile Beltrán, having been released, sees the face on the screen. “Ana! That’s Ana Farah.” Falco: “If that’s Ana Farah, then who committed suicide?"

Caballero says that the woman on the airport security camera appeared 3 times a week at Dr. Iturbe’s office at 4:00. The doctor’s records say it was Ana Farah. But the real Ana Farah never appeared in the security camera footage.

Falco stops by to see Paula, and Caro is there. He admits that it made him unhappy to see Mares around when he was to meet his daughter in person. Caro, smiling, tells him that Paula saca su mentón (sticks out her chin) the same as he does when he’s angry.

FALCO – Capítulo 3, Parte 3 de 3

TC asks who would steal someone’s identity in order to visit a psychiatrist. Mares calls them back to the office. He’s discovered something about Ana Farah’s autopsy. There was chlorinated water in her lungs, as if she drowned in a pool, not in the reservoir. She was murdered.

TC has researched and found that Farah would get $7 million when his wife died. He had been spending money like crazy and was broke. He convinced everyone that his wife had a terrible form of depression and hired another woman to play the part. The psychiatrist met the double at the airport and figured it out. Falco: “He killed Iturbe and the double will be next.”

Falco’s nasty shrink walks up and tells him she’s set up an appointment for him right now. [Really?] While trying to get something out of Falco she says something about persons wearing a mask. This causes Falco to think of an actress and he runs out on the shrink. He has remembered that Beltrán said the woman was reading Amor es más laberinto, a play by Sor Juana. Falco has TC look to see if the play is being performed somewhere.

They discover an actress named Cecilia who will perform in this play in Guadalajara at the Teatro Roma. When TC and Falco arrive they ask some person there about the actress, Cecilia. He tells them some other guy was looking for her also. They run into the theater. We see that Farah has used chloroform to subdue Cecilia and has almost thrown her over the balcony, but her dress hangs up. Falco manages to catch Farah and he gives up.

We see the interview with the actress. She tells them Farah hired her to pretend to be Ana Farah. Beltrán was not a part of this; the two of them fell in love.

Falco asks Caballero why he went to the police shrink also. TC says that Bravo ordered it, just like he did you. When Falco presses, TC says: “There was an incident. I killed my old partner. I was desperate. The guy listened to reggaeton and had no sense of humor.” Falco laughs, figuring out he’s been had. We see a real Tenoch Caballero smile.

Eva Salomón warmly thanks them both.

Falco meets his daughter in a park. They embrace. She touches his head and says he looks like a cyborg with no hair. He doesn’t know what that is, and she has to explain.

I heard about this legend years ago. Here it is from Wikipedia:

In Aztec mythology, Iztaccíhuatl was a princess who fell in love with one of her father's warriors, Popocatépetl. The emperor sent Popocatépetl to war in Oaxaca, promising him Iztaccíhuatl as his wife when he returned (which Iztaccíhuatl's father presumed he would not).

Iztaccíhuatl was falsely told that Popocatépetl had died in battle, and believing the news, she died of grief. When Popocatépetl returned to find his love dead, he took her body to a spot outside Tenochtitlan and kneeled by her grave. The gods covered them with snow and changed them into mountains.

Iztaccíhuatl's mountain is called "White Woman" (from Nahuatl iztāc "white" and cihuātl "woman") because it resembles a woman lying on her back, and is often covered with snow — the peak is sometimes nicknamed La Mujer Dormida, "The Sleeping Woman". Popocatépetl became an active volcano, raining fire on Earth in blind rage at the loss of his beloved.

FALCO

Thanks, novelera, for the recap and the info on the legend. I have always loved the legend of Itzaccíhuatl and Popocatépetl and have enjoyed it on many a painting and poster.

It was another excellent mystery this week. I liked Falco bering constantly faced with the changes that have occurred over the 20+ años he was out of it.

I also appreciated that Tenoch made a point of mentioning there being so many dead women these days and all that Falco had to do was read the papers. (BTW those who are Native Americans in the USA and Canada) It did my heart good to hear this highlighted.

FALCO

Some how my post got mutilated: (BTW many of the women who are dead or missing in the USA and Canada are Native Americans)

falco

Wow, novelera, many thanks for a terrific recap! I really needed it; I found the episode rather hard to follow. Partly, I was just too tired. I stopped watching the recording in the middle and went to bed. I was more awake this morning, but even so, the remainder of the recording still was no piece of cake for me. So I am very, very grateful for your detailed and helpful account (which I read only after I'd finished watching the episode). And thanks too for the information about the legend. I hadn't known about it.

I don't have much to add to what you've said. One thing that struck me, though, was the prolonged look that JuanPa gave Falco as Falco was leaving his office. I'm not sure what to make of it. I want JP to be one of the good guys, but the prolonged look made me a bit uneasy. I guess we'll find out eventually.

I was a little surprised that Falco's boss (Eva?) deliberately snubbed him at the start of last night's episode. Since she obviously came around by the end of the episode, I guess the snub at the start is supposed to help us notice her change of heart. Wow, such subtlety! :-)

I was disappointed but not surprised that Falco went home and polished off a bottle of booze after behaving badly in front of Paula, Mares, and Caro. Is this the only way that people (especially men) in telenovelas can cope? Lately we've seen Daniel and Ximena and then Albeiro and Jota in Sin Senos 3. I guess if I had to cope with the insane world of Sin Senos 3, I too might polish off a bottle of tequila or whatever (even watching the novela almost drives me to drink), but I had hoped for better outside that novela. Oh well... I'm still enjoying Falco quite a bit.

One more thing. I think Falco stopped Farah from fleeing by shooting him in the leg. Am I mistaken? Also, I found it hard to believe that the cloth of the costume Cecilia was wearing wouldn't immediately tear from her weight, making her fall.

Like Jarifa, I'm enjoying Falco's confrontations with the 21st century.

FALCO

Thanks, Novelera. The Spanish captioning wasn't working last night and I missed a lot. Appreciate the background on Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl.

Falco was so cute asking for a copy of the yellow pages. Hmmm, so both Falco and Tenoch are seeing the shrink.

Falco

excellent recap novelera! there are a lot of details in these crime dramas and you do a really nice job of capturing them all along with the flow of the story.

also loved the legend of Iztaccíhuatl and Popocatépetl.

Falco

Juanita, you're right. Falco shot Farah in the leg; he didn't just meekly surrender.

I can't remember exactly how the topic of Tenoch Caballero seeing a police shrink came up. It was earlier in the show, way before the joke he makes about killing his partner.

Falco wanted him to say why he'd gone and hinted it could be because he's gay. And that he, Falco, was open minded about that sort of thing. Tenoch told him he's not gay, but not with the usual machismo reaction to such a thing. Just insisting that's not the reason.

There was also an instance where he was looking at some women (or girls) on his phone and Falco kind of leered. But Tenoch said they were chavas from segundaria (girls he'd known in high school). That does seem like an odd thing for an adult man to peruse on his phone. But, again wild speculation, maybe his odd personality caused him to be a bit of an outcast and these were girls who were kind to him.

I suspect his mandated psych visits could have to do with his having gone through two partners in a year, likely because of his poor people skills.

Anyway, it's nice to see them getting along better, even though TC gets annoyed, as he did when Falco somehow got to the tryst hotel without benefit of computer skills.
