Soraya/Ingrid Roman is enjoying her new car, Mateos/Carlos his new dad Fabian Roman, not so much, (of course he never new who his dad was anyway, just that Soraya told him it was Santi), BH says it's all under control, Soraya wonders if it's under control like with Alfonso's fiancé.
Ana begs Felipe not to ruin her life, she offers him money, he gives her 24 hours to decide.
Ximena's funeral is pretty normal so far, except for Paola flittering around.
Mari decides to case the joint since she was left home, finds some financial documents that she takes pics of, an accordion and what's this, a gun and money, she poses with the gun, just like agent Catalina Santana.
Soraya rushes home, followed by BH's guys, to deal with confused Carlos and meet her new husband, who has all the answers, including wedding pictures from 1993 and confirmation from the church, she calls him on his game, he says it's real, our reality.
the girls throw in flowers on top of Ximena's coffin while Paola lobs in some dirt, welcomes her to hell, where she will reunite with the other chicas del barrio, later followed by CG announcing her new job as head of the TEA, and rants by CM that she will make whoever bombed their house pay, as Daniel slinks up with half mask and hood.
as CG pleads her case about being able to do things legally now, Daniel is also going rogue like CM, he won't rest until he kills Martin and Diabla, then wanders off alone.
(and where's Tony?)
Soraya wonders what she got them into, but Mateos likes his new moto.
Santi tries calling Mari, she doesn't answer, but has found some jewelry and some keys.
our gang is back home after the funeral, Jota calls out Paola, Albeiro also asks her to speak up, she cruises the room, as CG mimics her crazy stare, she says she knows all, she's had the scales removed from her eyes, by LAURA, before she hits to the floor, is she dead?
Mari drinks and dances to Titi's song, (Sin Blin Blin No Hay Paraíso) as he gets home, they dance together, just like mom, he asks about the baby, he'll tuck her in, then meet upstairs.
Diabla peels off her bandages, ouch, and gives us a look, yikes, a new face she ponders, what have I got to lose?
Hey did you know that Flavio Medina will play a role in El Recluso? I just saw him in the promo! Im so happy he's back!!
The evil aunt from Corazon Que Miente is also in it.
DEB:
I AM SO FED UP...but I see its crashing the old crew and intro new people..without resolving the old???
Paola..really…jota walk the dog joke?
and yes that was Danni's dad,Octavio...if ,I am not mistaken..the lawyer,,quess what...!
HE PLAYED ALBIERO....a million years ago..oh yeah in the Columbian version??!!
Daniel..i called it
Halimacandy, I am confused, which character is "Octavio", Danni's father. Is it Black Hand or the smug guy who arranges everything - Mendiota?
Soraya is definitely having second thoughts about Black Hand. And, why is he in a wheelchair? I had my appendix out about two years ago, was on my feet right after coming out of the anesthetic. And only rested one day. And I'm no spring chicken! Maybe medicine isn't so advanced in Colombia. Mine came out using a laparoscope.
Well, whether Paola is dead or alive, I think it will get through to dim Vanessa that something is definitely not right with Paola.
Oh, I love dancing salsa, merengue, cumbia, and even Mexican rancheras! I wanted to jump into my television and dance with Titi. The guy has great moves.
Great recap, Deb!
I'm starting to root for the bad again. It seems as if Titi, Mariana, Black Hand, etc ., are all having fun. And I like the attitude of CataM and Daniel. Even Yesica has nothing to lose. Paola? Well, hope she's okay, that smile showed she was having a good time getting everyone ready for hell.
And the others? Boring. CataG, that whole crew, boring. Even Soraya isn't as much fun now that she's losing control. It was fun to see that Fabian "prove" that they really are married. But wait, if they're married, how can she be the first lady? Or maybe they're divorced.
I think they were referring to Mateo as Carlos Mario. This is confusing, he should just be Mario, since we already have a Carlos. On the other hand, we have 3 Catalina's, so I should be used to it by now.
NOVELERA:
Calvo WENT TO the lawyers Octavio's apartment to get Mendieta black hand's contact info... you might have missed it ..it was a drive by and the guy was so unforgettable.. [how he was ever Albiero??]
Hombre:
I would go GOOD/BAD TOO... Catamedia and Daniel have to go rouge.. and CG had the guts/nerve to talk abt GOING WITHIN THE LAW...
CG..GET THE 'F' OUTTA HERE...PORFAVOR!!
ZORAYA.. THE HECK WITH HER..POOR MATEO!!
Hombre, love reading your comments, funny!
novelera, maybe I can add some things on Octavio, (he was behind Diabla in one of the flashbacks last night), he was a smooth talking slimy lawyer that did odd jobs for Diabla, a little too smooth so she got rid of him, but she did use him to get pregnant with Dani so she could reel in Marcial, who was married to CataG, turn him in and take him for everything, this was a major plot point later because we and Marcial were led to believe that Dani was Marcial's daughter, which was holding him back from getting even, till later on when he had the DNA test done, and the truth was revealed.
hmm, for now, even though Octavio is dead, I think Diabla mentioned he still had an office in Bogota, and she wants to go through his stuff to find a way to get in touch with Mendiata.
Thanks, Halimacandy and deb for the background on Octavio. At this point I'm relieved to discover that a character is dead. The last thing I want is more of these idiots to keep track of.
novelera...waiting anxiously for this to be over and for Falsa Identidad to start!
dr. Santi checks Paola, she's fine but..., and CM heads to see Hernan while Hilda takes CG to see Carlos before they leave.
Calvo returns with groceries, he stopped by Octavio's place, found the number and called Mendieta, an assistant wouldn't put him through, he'll only talk to Diabla, she remembers how her husband the mayor, would shake when he talked to him.
Calvo also checked out Monsalve.
Carlos is eating up the house when Hilda and CG get there, they ask about Laura but he gets too upset.
Titi and Mari tend to the baby, he wonders if she is lying to him.
Mateos likes Soraya's new car, she wants to talk about school.
with Santi gone they get Vane baby's doc to check on Paola, he says her vital signs are good, it's like she is asleep, but won't wake up, he leaves but has them call him if they notice anything strange.
Laura ramps up her spell on Paola with a couple pins to the dolls eyes, around the sleeping Paola the pictures drop off the walls and the lights go out.
Soraya talks to Mateo, she doesn't want him to get dazzled by this new life, she admits that it scares her, they're not free and have no privacy, and if they would disappear, no one would know.
CG and Santi arrive home and meet Tony in the driveway, (valet parking?) inside Santi admits he doesn't like his lovey dovey eyes for her, CG wants to bring Sebas home, Santi will arrange it, and then, hot sex.
Hernan is awake, CM runs to him, with a serious look on his face he tells her there is something he wants to do before he dies, he wants to be happy.
Diabla and Mendieta connect, he knows her name, she wants to meet, why, she has all the dirty secrets of her narco friends and she thinks he might be interested.
CG is now the head of TEA in Colombia, it will be official in a couple of days, Tony is happy.
Titi has his blood taken, is he screaming, for the DNA test of cata p, he'll get the results in a couple of days.
Hernan thinks he is dying, he put all his strength together to open his eyes to ask CM to marry him, he wants her to bring a priest, he won't last long.
they take Paola to the hospital, the guard is hesitant saying people like to bring dead people here so they can say they died here, they get a doc to show she is still alive, he wants to run some tests.
Rocco stops by to see Soraya, she tells him of her fears, Mendieta listens in on his laptop.
the docs check out Paola, and order more tests.
Calvo is in Medellín Colombia showing doctor Monsalve pics of Diabla's face, he says he can't do much if she is not here, Calvo says she can't come, he says he can't leave his other patients, Calvo speaks of the little green men on the paper bills, he can have as many as he wants.
question, when Titi picked up cata p after the blood samples for the dna test, he said they will soon know if she is a Jaramillo (his last name) or a bayona, ?? I can guess what he meant, but does any one know exactly?
DEB:
AWESOME..CAUSE WE ARE HEADING INTO THE HOME STRETCH...
DARIO , PLEASE DONT DIE..!!..IF HE survives...they are leaving for a while to be ..'HAPPY'..GO -FOR-IT-. and goodness bless them, cause NOBODY HAS REALLY BEEN THERE FOR THEM...
NOVELA:
YES.. This slimey, thief was Danni's dad, and a pervert.. and ALBIERO??go figure..in the COLUMBIA VERSION..WTF!!
lord... please help us.. when the pictures fell off the wall..nobody lit a candle???..
where is a nice rosery circle..prayers work wonders..Jota was right!![duh]get apreist for exortism!! usually, he talks so much stupidity ,this time he was ignored...
Carlos.. really..??..
Looks like El Capo's days might be numbered as Ishmael, Blue Eagle & Co., have him cornered.
Plus El Chema is BACK & more bloodthirsty!
Thanks, Deb!
Halimacandy, I agree, we need for positive religious symbols to combat the Lord of Darkness that Laura keeps summoning.
Those doctors have no clue what's up with Paola, I guess in their medical school, there were no courses on curses.
I like Vanessa's pet name for Jota, Oso, which means bear. Sometimes, I wonder how even she can "bear" him.
Another great recap, deb. Loved "valet parking".
I have no idea what Titi meant by Bayona. I googled it, of course, and came up with random people named that and some restaurants. No one in the cast has that surname.
I am becoming massively bored with the repetitive scenes of Laura and the Paola voodoo doll. She says the same thing over and over.
I'm wondering if there is some trace of the good Paola that is keeping her asleep so she won't harm anyone. It doesn't appear that Laura wants her asleep.
I cracked up at Carlos chewing up the bedding, just like a puppy when you leave them alone too long.
Diabla said she wanted to speak with Mandiota because she wanted to work with someone who made people shake.
Yep, Titi is one of the best things in this show. I loved his shriek at having a bit of blood drawn. And, of course, he'll get his results in two days instead of 7 or 8 because...plata. One recurring theme in telenovelas, especially narconovelas, is that every doctor, nurse, public servant, or functionary of some kind is always bribable.
I also hope Hernán Darío doesn't die. He and CataM have been together a very long time and deserve their happiness. But this show seems to have no compunctions about killing off good people.
This is a co-production with Telemundo and a company in Colombia, at least that's what's shown at the beginning. It seems to me that the sex is a lot more graphic than what is seen in Mexican and/or US novelas. Last night they had the blurry chest of Catalina, which makes you wonder if it was blurred in Colombia.
Did you all notice. Catalina Santana wore PANTS and not a tiny skirt or dress when she told the TEA head she was accepting the job!
Love serendipitous things! Realizing that I was drowning in magazines and especially The New Yorker, which is a weekly magazine, I went to a digital subscription. It works for me because I usually ended up reading 3 at most of the articles and sometimes none! Today's email contains an article about a photographer who traveled around the country photographing witches.
I wish I could put a link in here to the article, but I've had friends tell me they sometimes don't work, as the recipients haven't paid for the subscription.
Anyway, one of the photographs is of an African American woman, dressed all in black, smoking a cigar and with a cloud of smoke near her face. If you have a grocery store that has the New Yorker among its magazines, maybe you could look for the print article. The photos are very impressive. Anyway, I couldn't help but think of Laura.
More serendipity. Just opened my September National Geographic to find the cover story entitled The Story of a Face about a young woman who had a face transplant. Amazing story, amazing photographs!
A woman is rushing down the street with some blood on her forehead. We hear sirens. She pushes the doorbell to the residence of one Dr. Jorge Góngara. She tells him someone has attacked her. He buzzes her in. He’s very sympathetic and goes for his phone to call the police. When he turns to face her, she takes out a gun and shoots him in the head.
Falco and Juan Pablo Bravo are talking in a coffee shop. Bravo tells him that the judge ruled that the man who shot him was Julián Reyes, the bank policemen. Falco wants to talk to the judge, but Bravo tells him that Judge Eréndira died of natural causes.
Falco arrives at the Góngara crime scene. He and Salomón kid around a bit. She tells him that at least he combed his hair [ha ha]. Mares and Tenoch Caballero are already inside. Tenoch says that the decedent is the Psychologist to the Stars. He has a YouTube video and also a TV show. Wandering about Falco is surprised that un loquero lives so well.
Some officious guy in a suit shows up and orders them to stop the cateo (search of the premises). Salomón protests that this is a crime scene, but the guy has some official document. Eva reads this and tells the team they need to leave. Falco, as usual not a follower of orders, says he misplaced his phone. What he does in the other room is put the doc’s appointment book and another leather container outside the building on the windowsill. When he collects this, he tells Tenoch that what he took is more useful than googling.
At the station they are interviewing Góngara’s patients one by one. When they get to Pablo Aguilar, his mother, Brigida, shows up instead. She states that her 27 year old son is too “fragile” to come in. He was in therapy because of his parents’ divorce. A tall, brisk lawyer walks in – Georgina Eréndira – and refuses to allow any further questions.
Falco asks the lawyer in the stairwell if she is related to Marcos Eréndira and is told he was her husband.
Carolina is in her apartment looking like a thundercloud. Mares unlocks the door and enters. He asks what’s wrong. Almost trembling with fury she tells him he didn’t do a good job of erasing Falco’s message. Mares tries going on the offensive, saying the message was about she and Falco kissing at Paula’s party. He goes on: “You’re going back with him.” Caro tells him she never, ever looked at his phone. With a martyred expression, he finally says it’s better if he leaves.
Salomón says she’s found the connection between the psychologist and the Aguilars. Jorge Góngara was getting big bucks from a Panamanian bank account in the name of Pablo Aguilar. Falco muses that it could be money laundering. Tenoch: “Wow, you googled that!” Falco: “No. I read the paper in a café this morning like a normal person would do.” Salomón smirks. The three cops think the shrink (tired of typing psychologist) discovered something in therapy and was using it for blackmail.
Falco and Tenoch arrive at the palatial residence of Pablo Aguilar, who has a very punchable face. He sneers at them that, if they’re looking for una mordida (a bribe), the only thing he can offer them is a couple of donas (doughnuts) in the kitchen.
Falco gets in his face about the money from Panama, and Aguilar says the account is in his name but his mother controls what happens with it. Falco loses his temper with el niño rico and shoves him. Aguilar puts his hand on some glass that broke.
Bravo tells Falso that the lawyer has filed an abuse charge.
Falco is meeting with his shrink (can’t remember her name). She tells him: Anclarse a un solo evento en el pasado y obsesionarse pueda causarle daño. (To anchor oneself to a past event and obsess about it could cause a person harm.)
Falco and Tenoch meet with Georgina Eréndira, the Aguilar’s lawyer. She scoffs at the Panamanian money. She accuses them of having found a case that is como un gallina de los huevos de oro (an important case – like the hen that lays golden eggs). She tells them she’s worked for the Aguilars 7 years. Falco tells her he’s the cop who was in a coma and that his expediente (file) is incomplete. He wonders if she might have the judge’s papers. She refuses to help.
Falco, working late, opens a leather folder belonging to the deceased shrink and finds a map. We then see Falco and Tenoch, with flashlights, following the map. They find some human remains.
The next day, at the cop shop, Mares has used dental records to find that the victim is Alicia Cabañas, who was declared missing months ago. Mares will also send the fabric that was with the body to see if any other DNA is present. Falco compliments Mares and seems to want to say something else. But Mares loses his temper and says that Falco got him kicked out of his home.
While interviewing Alicia’s father, Tenoch and Falco learn that she had a rich boyfriend named Pablo Aguilar!
Falco is reviewing Góngara’s notes. We see a flashback scene of Alicia saying that her boyfriend is too controlling, and that he wanted to marry her. She tells the shrink that his mother would go nuts if she knew this.
Falco puts up a couple of things related to his shooting on the wall of his pensión. Then he goes back to where he was shot. He seems to be using muscle memory to recreate what happened, getting behind cars, remembering things, even moving his hands as if re-loading his gun.
Pablo Aguilar is in an interview room with his mother present, fussing over his hair. Eva and Tenoch tell Pablo they found Alicia’s body in the woods. He begins to cry. He says he asked her to marry him, but she said no. He loved her, and he even paid for the shrink in hopes she’d change her mind. For some reason this interview convinces Eva Salomón that Pablo isn’t guilty.
Falco is talking with Paola. She’s upset that Mares has left the house. But she gets over her huff, and says they need to figure this out.
The three cops muse about how the shrink knew where the body was and had left a map. Falco says the shrink found out who the killer was. The money he got could have paid for 50 sessions in his office.
Mares has gotten DNA results from different hair than Alicia’s. Falco goes to see the lawyer. She gets huffy, and he tells her they know everything. They found the body and the DNA of the killer. Brigida Aguilar comes in. Falco: “What would a jealous and possessive mother do for her son?”
We see a flashback. Alicia and Brigida Aguilar are talking. Brigida tells the girl she asked Góngara to arrange to meet the girl here. She wants to offer her money to disappear. We see an argument. Brigida pushes Alicia, who falls down a steep hill and apparently dies. Brigida buries her under some dirt and leaves. We see Góngara peeking from behind a tree.
Brigida: My son is innocent! The cops take her out.
Falco asks Georgina to stay. He accuses her of using her influence to prevent the police from investigating the crime scene. He stares at her. I believe she fears legal repercussions from what she did, so she opens a vault in her office and gives Falco some file folders the judge had about his case.
Falco comes to see Carolina. He apologizes for having ruined her relationship with Mares. He realizes that this is no one’s fault. She seems to want to give it a try, but he says too many things have passed. Nothing is the same and there’s no real way back. They both say Te quiero.
Falco reviews the judge’s files. At the same time we see Falco’s shrink speaking aloud, recording notes about his session into a small recorder. The doctor says he’s stubborn, impulsive, and obsessed with his past. She then notices a red light blinking inside her mouse and finds a recording device!
Falco is pinning up things from the judge’s files on his wall. We see that most of the papers are signed by Juan Pablo Bravo. Falco looks at a photo of Bravo 23 years ago tacked on that wall and remembers his face as that of the one who shot him!
wow novelera, you write such wonderful recaps!
that was a simpler case this time but did they get the lady that shot the doctor, did Falco say something about losing the Panama money as to why he didn't push it with the lawyer.
but his own case is heating up, and Juanpa seems to have his name written all over it, I'm not sure if Falco remembered his face or wanted too, either way, now he has to prove it, interesting that his psychiatrist's office is bugged.
and his family life is not getting any simpler, seems like he and Caro take turns each show wanting to get back together.
Thanks, deb. I meant to say something about their not getting the woman who killed Góngara, but I suspect it's hard to track down paid assassins.
Also, Falco said that what happened to Alicia could have been called an accident, but what she so clearly arranged for Góngara was murder.
Hmmm, I found it interesting, deb, that you weren't sure if Falco finally remembered Bravo's face in the dark vision he's had multiple times of someone shooting him from just a few yards away. You may well be right that seeing Bravo's name on so many documents, documents that clearly were removed from the official police file, might have caused him to assume his old partner was the shooter.
Plus, Bravo was one of the three walking out of Reyes' apartment complex. They said Reyes was shot and died. Falco was shot. As the survivor of the tiroteo (firefight) Bravo would have signed a bunch of documents attesting as to what happened. Maybe the scene at the end of last night's episode was a red herring and Bravo was not part of a conspiracy. But there definitely was a conspiracy. Those two rather nasty cops who were at the original crime scene were way too eager to shut down Falco when he brought up those questions about the lack of bulletproof glass and the normal bodyguards the political guy would have had.
And the bugging of his psychologist is very suspicious. We just don't know who put the bug in there.
Thanks, Novelera. I'm thinking JuanPa isn't actually the one that shot Falco but that it's someone Falco didn't view as a threat back then. In his vision, Falco had a trusting looking at who ever it was, before the bullet came.
Wondering what the young shrink will do knowing her sessions are bugged.
