Mi marido tiene más familia Background Information and Recap: Capítulo 2 Wednesday 9/12/18 "Things Could Be Better"

Background and characters from Season 1:

Here is a list of the characters from the first season and a few useful facts for those of you who might have missed the first season.

The title refers to the fact that after being financially and emotionally responsible for a needy mother and two needy younger brothers, Julieta was thrilled to have found Robert Cooper whose adopted parents and family lived in the states. He was going to live with her in Mexico and she would be free of having to deal with any other relatives. She was looking forward to just her and Robert against the world. Of course, it didn't turn out that way.

Imelda is the Córcega matriarch and has three sons: Eugenio, Tulio and Audifaz. Her husband died about fifty years ago. She lives in an apartment building that she owns as does Eugenio and his family and Audifaz and his family. Eugenio runs the family bakery from the same building.

Eugenio is married to Blanca and they have three daughters: Daniela, Marisol and Linda. They also have one son Juan Pablo (Robert) In the first season we saw how he was kidnapped by his aunt Ana (Tulio's wife) as a four year old when his mother Blanca went into labor at the market. Ans left him at an orphanage where he was adopted by a family in the USA. That is why he calls himself Robert Cooper. Through a series of serendipitous events, he discovered his birth family, the Córcega's, after being orphaned for thirty four years.

Daniela is newly married to Gabriel. They are a quirky couple. He has two sisters Casandra and Clarisa.

Marisol fell in love with Xavi Galán a singer and became his manager. They are on tour. Earlier she was divorced from Ignacio who left her for Begoña. They had one daughter: Frida.

Linda followed Julieta's little brother Bruno to Europe. He went to study in Germany. She ended up in Italy.

Tulio was married to Ana and they had no children. Ana is gone after confessing stealing little Juan Pablo (Robert) and ultimately being forgiven by Blanca his mother. Tulio is a business man and seems to always have a glass of something in his hand.

Audifaz is married to Polita (Amapola). They have two children: Aristóteles who is a teenager and Arquímides who is a toddler. Audifaz has a problem keeping jobs. The family houses them at the apartment building and Blanca feeds them. Polita is famous for her "Tuppers" (Tupperware).

Blanca is Eugenio's wife. She has two sisters: Belén and Amalia. Amalia is currently with her dance instructor Enzo and is working with Imelda. I cannot remember if Belén ended up with her ex or not. If you remember, let us know.

Robert is married to Julieta. They have two children: adopted son Dave (his birth mother is Isela) and a daughter Blanquita named after Robert's birth mother. He is a dcotor and specializes in burn treatment. He especially likes treating children with burns. That is how he met Dave who he ended up adopting. Dave was a burn victim.

Julieta comes from a broken home and was raised by her mother Catalina. She has two younger brothers: Hugo and Bruno. Hugo is married to educator Diana. Julieta is the vice-president of creativity of Cklass.

Octavio (Tavo) is a psychologist and Robert's friend.

Season two starts nine months after end of season one.

Imelda had a heart attack at the end of season one and it looked like she had died but luckily for us, she lived and even has her own business.

Season 2 New Characters:

Canuto is married to Crisanta. They have one daughter: Susana. Susana is divorced from Vicente. They have two children: Axel and Sebastián. Axel is in his twenties and Sebastián is the same age as Dave, about eight. Crisanta runs a dress shop. Canuto looks to be retired. Susana is the Cklass vice-president of administration. Axel is an orthopedic surgeon.

Pancho is a single parent who has three children: Temo who is Ari's age and the twins Julio and Lupita who are Dave's age. Pancho is a vegetable and fruit purveyor.

RECAP: Capítulo 2 "Things Could Be Better"

Susana is on the phone with her mother who is at school and who is telling her that Sebas is getting out of control. When Susana is off the phone, Julieta asks her if the Córcega's are from Oaxaca. Susana cannot be bothered. She just wants to make sure that Julieta is there at 7:00 a.m. sharp tomorrow morning.

Outside the principal's office, Robert thanks Sebas for sticking up for Dave but next time he needs to think about handling it differently. Sebas pledges that nobody is going to mess with his friend. Robert repeats he did a good thing but in a bad way. That cannot happen. He gets Sebas to agree.

Blanca wakes up frustrated to tears with Eugenio and works it out in the bakery. She cannot take it anymore and goes back into the house to tell Eugenio to wake up and get out off bed already. They have a lot of work in the bakery. “An old man who lies down to sleep is an old man who is ready to die.” They need money. Their apartment up front is not rented. Even his own mother has gone back to work. They cannot afford for the bakery to go broke. She tries to physically pull him out of the bed.

Amalia and Imelda are seated in a park and are talking about Crisanta. Amalia notices that Imelda is out of sorts and wonders if it has to do with the anniversary of her husband's death. Amalia agrees that it does in a way. There was a man who she saw today who reminded her of him; the man that she had loved for a lifetime; the man who ended up leaving her. (Imelda remembers looking at the man who resembled Canuto as her car passed him on the street.)

Canuto and Axel, his grandson, are walking through a park. Axel has noted that Canuto is distracted. Canuto agrees and has to tell him something because he just cannot keep it inside any more without going crazy. Canuto wants him to promise to keep it a secret. Axel will be by his side whatever he has to tell him. Canuto confesses that he has another family. He had a wife and three children. He cheated on his wife and she never forgave him.

In Diana's office at the school, she is telling Dorian and Sebastián that they have reports as punishment and that the next time something like that happens they will be suspended. Crisanta is there as well as Dave, Robert and Dorian's parents. Dorian and his parents leave. Crisanta explains that her grandson was only defending his friend Dave, so she doesn't understand Diana being so hard on him. Diana explains that verbal or physical violence is simply not tolerated at the school. Robert hopes it is really all over. Diana assures him it is.

Julieta is at work asking her assistant Casandra if it is not odd that her boss is named Susana "Córcega". Casandra says there must be thousands of Córcega's but Julieta is not so sure. It seems too much of a coincidence since fate seems to always be laughing at her. The Córcega's just follow her! Julieta imagines if Susana were a part of her in-laws'family. That would mean that her husband would have even more family . . . Julieta decides that she will have to look into it.

Gabriel and Frida, both like two little kids, are chasing Daniela down the street and trying to talk her into putting off starting work for and hour and coming out with them. She finally agrees to a half hour outing.

Robert, Dave, Crisanta and Sebas leave the school. Dave mentions a family tree project. Sebas wants to go to Dave's house. Crisanta says that would work for her since she is starting a new business. Robert will supervise the boys and she will come by later to pick up Sebas. Robert Cooper introduces himself to Crisanta Díaz. When her shop is open, she will invite Robert's wife to come by and give her a 30% discount!

Canuto continues telling Axel his story. He never planned on coming back to Oaxaca but then his daughter Susana’s job brought them there. He never thought he would have to confront the truth. Axel asks if he is thinking of looking up his old family. Canuto does not know what to do. Axel thinks that his grandmother and mother both deserve the truth. Canuto says he just had to confide in someone. Axel tells him that when his grandma finds out she'll want to kill him.

Blanca gives Eugenio a pep talk in the bakery. They can't just let the business fail. He's depressed, well, she is, too. She misses her daughters. Are they just going to up and die? No way! They have each other and they love each other. They have to be strong and keep going. Their kids have their own lives and won't be coming to the bakery to help. Eugenio kisses her.

Gabriel, Daniela and Frida are visiting a fair next to the church when Dani gets a call. It is an urgent message about the alebrijes (Mexican fantasy folk art figures made of wood)and toy order that has to be packed and ready to go for tomorrow. They have to leave. Everyone is disappointed but understands. Gabriel wants to buy just one more bracelet. Dani has to remind him there is no more money. They take selfies instead to send to Frida's mom.

At Robert's, he is busy cooking dinner for the boys. Dave says his dad is a great cook but not his mom. Sebas says his isn't either. Both of their moms spend a lot of time at work. Dave thanks Sebas for defending him. Sebas knows what it is like when Dave's mother doesn't have time for him. Julieta comes home with Blanquita and announces that tomorrow her work day will starts at 7:00 a.m. She greets Dave with a hug and he tells her how he misses her at school. Julieta introduces herself to Sebas and then goes off to talk to Robert. Robert tells Julieta about the fight at school. Julieta asks if Robert has an aunt or a cousin who is named Susana Córcega. Robert says no. Julieta explains that that is the name of her new boss.

Susana gets home and Crisanta tells her about how Sebas keeps on having more problems. He is at a friend's house to do homework. Crisanta has to go back to her store. Crisanta only knows the father of the boy with whom Sebas is working. He is Robert Cooper, a nice educated guy. She gives Susana Robert's address so she can pick up Sebas.

Catalina, Julieta's mother, stops by Julieta’s house making a sarcastic comment about being surprised that Julieta can even recognize her face it has been so long since they have seen each other. Julieta is not in the mood. Catalina knows that everyone is more important to her daughter than her own mother is. It feels like centuries since she has seen her grandson.

At Blanca's, Eugenio gets on a ladder to replace a light bulb in a chandelier. Blanca is all worried he will fall. He is sick of her bringing up his age all the time. She wraps her arms around his legs and then Polita does the same and almost makes him fall. When he is finally back on the floor, Polita hops up and screws in the light bulb and jumps off the ladder. Blanca starts in about Eugenio's age again. By the way, Polita has good news. The apartment is rented.

Robert and Julieta do dishes. Julieta starts telling him all about Susana Córcega. She is going to have to ask his parents if they know her. She is going to give Robert a lift back to the hospital. She will ask her mom to take care of the children.

As Julieta drives Robert to work, he tells her they all have bosses who are usually not as we would like them to be. Julieta wonders what they do except stress people out and complicate matters. He reminds her that she is a boss herself so she should watch what she says. She insists that her area is different. She is worried that with this new boss she will have less time for her children and him. She loves her job but loves her family more. Robert says they will have to get used to it. She hopes so because she doesn't want another war with one of the "Córcega species". Robert is taken aback by that. Yes, Julieta knows that is what she said but it hasn't been easy dealing with his family. There is always another issue with them no matter how hard she tries.

Back at Robert's, Dave and Sebas are working on their family trees. Dave glues down a picture of his great grandfather (a photo of a young Canuto) and Sebas glues down a photo of his grandfather (an old Canuto). The doorbell rings and it is Susana who has come by for Sebas. Catalina answers the door. Catalina yells for Sebas that his mom is there. Catalina and Susana exchange niceties. Susana and her son leave.

Julieta asks Blanca and Eugenio if they know a Susana Córcega. Imelda's ears perk up as she works in the dining room. Neither Blanca or Eugenio know of a Susana Córcega. Julieta runs over to ask Imelda. No, she doesn't know of any Susana in the family. Julieta explains she is her new boss.

On the way home, Susana tells Sebas that he has to behave himself at school because it was the only school that would accept him. If they throw him out, then what will they do? He isn't holding up his part of the bargain. A surly Sebas with total disrespect says that she isn't holding up her part either as a mother. A clearly angry Susana asks him if he eats well. She reminds him that he has the best clothes, she sends him to the best schools and gets him all the video games and other things he wants. Clearly she is doing her part and she is asking him again if he is doing his. There is only silence and rolled eyes from Sebas.

At Gabriel and Dani's house, she has an alebrije at the table and tells Gabriel to be sure to reconfirm the shipping arrangements for the alebrijes and toys. He assures her he will. Frida is eating a lollipop and is hungry. Gabriel wants to order a pizza. Dani tells him that it is too expensive and not healthy eating. She will make something to eat in a bit. She asks Gabriel if he bought vegetables. It is clear he didn't buy what she wanted. There is a cucumber and fruit. Dani looks aggravated.

Julieta thanks Catalina for watching the children. Catalina tells her that Sebas' mom came to pick him up and she was a really elegant looking woman so nice . . . really divine! She is sure she would get along perfectly with Julieta. Bili, Julieta's digital assistant, reminds her to go to sleep because she has to get up early. Catalina leaves.

Susana is out to eat with her family: Sebas, Axel, Crisanta, and Canuto. Her sons Sebas and Axel are on their phones. It is silent. Susana notices that something is not right with her dad and asks if he is okay. He says she has enough going on with her own life. She tells him to let her know if he has any pain. He tells her that he has a good doctor. Crisanta tells the boys to put down their phones because the family needs to communicate. Susana asks how things are going at the hospital. Axel says fine and addresses her as "Susana" but not "mother".

Julieta lovingly says goodnight to a sleeping Dave. She and Robert (still in their matching pj's) are in their room. He is looking over some books with infomation on the course he is going to take. It starts this week. Julieta gets upset saying this is the worst possible time. An argument ensues. He informs her that it is what he does because he is a doctor. She needs his help with the kids right now more than ever with work the way it is. Doesn't he get it? He asks if she understands him. Is she the only one who is supposed to have goals? Isn't he supposed to have goals, too?

Susana tries to turn off Sebas' phone, turns off his lights and tells him to go to sleep. He yells he can't sleep with the lights out. She doesn't like his tone. Well, he doesn't like the way she speaks to him either!!! She gives him ten minutes to finish up on his phone and leaves a still sullen Sebas.

Julieta asks Robert to lower his voice so the kids don't wake up. She is not taking aways Robert's rights. Has she ever prevented him from doing anything? Robert does not make any more comments which just infuriates her even more. He just wants to forget it all and go to sleep. She wants him to tell her everything; his dreams . . . He never talks and keeps it all inside and then explodes when she least expects it. He agrees he doesn't express himself well: end of topic; but notfor Julieta. He didn't tell her about the course because she is so angry with her job and boss. She is obsessed. She tells him to enroll in his class. She never wants to hear it was her fault that he didn't.

Susana looks in on Axel who is on his laptop. She gets into it with him about the way he and his brother talk to her. Axel doesn't even call her mother. He knows he doesn’t but his grandmother took care of him ever since he was a little kid. Susana agrees that she did because she was out working so that her children would never wanted for anything. Axel understands that but adds that she always was distant so she can't expect them to be exactly best friends now. He apologizes. She leaves.

Bili reminds Julieta about her yoga class. She's aggravated with the reminder. She and Robert start setting the table for breakfast. Julieta thought it was all going so well. She tries to be the best mother, the best wife and the best executive but it seems like she is failing across the board. Robert tells her she tries too hard to be perfect. Maybe her new boss will even help her to be better at what she does. Julieta really does not want to go down that road. She still cannot believe her last name is Córcega. Robert says that they just have to get organized. Julieta apologizes for her reaction but she sees him as her co-pilot and depends on him everyday. He is hoping his class is when Dave is in school but it is up to the instructor. She just does know how they are going to handle everything. Robert insists that have to keep communicating and think of the kids at every turn. Robert reminds Julieta of their promise that no matter what happens they will stay together. It is she and he against the world always together. They do their "imán" (magnet) thing and hug as Blanquita cries.

Imelda is up thinking about Julieta asking about a Susana Córcega and then about seeing the man who resembled Canuto so closely. Imelda starts to pray and Blanca comes in to see her and ask what is wrong. Imelda can't sleep. Blanca insists that Imelda is hiding something. No, Imelda is not hiding anything. She tells Blanca to go back to bed.

Susana goes to talk to her dad in the living room. She keeps wondering what her biggest mistake was in bringing up Axel and Sebas. Canuto tells her it is not good to focus on their errors as parents. Susana feels that her sons treat her like a stranger. She works so hard for them and all they can say is "my mother isn't home, my mother . . ." Canuto says she has done well. It is very hard to meet a child's expectations. Susana holds her father on a pedestal. He has been perfect. There is nobody like him. She asks him for a hug.

Daniela is kissing and painting the forehead of an already sleeping Gabriel. She paints "Te amo" on his forehead. (I love you)

Robert helps Julieta with a crying Blanquita. She tells him to go sleep and when she finally gets to bed he is snoring LOUDLY. She rolls him on his side to try to quiet him down. The next thing it is 4:10 a.m. and he is still snoring and Julieta is still awake. She tries to put a pillow over her head to drown out the noise.

Eugenio is tossing and turning trying to find a comfortable position in bed. Blanca is awake. He has too many pains all over to be able to sleep. She reminds him he hasn't been to his physical therapy in a month. They are going to have to do something about that. Tomorrow she will be looking like a zombie making bread. Maybe they should sleep each in their own bed. Eugenio doesn't like that idea. Blanca needs her sleep. She leaves their bedroom.

Robert is awakened by Bili reminding Julieta that she has a meeting with Susana. He crawls over Julieta, lands on the floor and wakes her up. Julieta is in such a rush that Robert has to tell her to slow down and just breathe. She tells him that she didn't sleep at all with his snoring. Of course, he says he doesn't snore. In a short while, everyone is dressed and at the breakfast table. Julieta just wants to get to work on time. A somber Dave asks if Julieta and Robert are fighting. They tell him they are not. Julieta kisses everyone goodbye and leaves with Blanquita.

Gabriel asks Dani if she painted the message on his forehead. Yes, it is so he never forgets even if she gets angry, that she loves him. Dani is busy packing boxes. She tells him to get going so everything is transported to Julieta's office.

At Julieta's office, everyone is assembled in the board room for a meeting with Susana. She finally arrives. Casandra calls her "Jefa Suprema" (Supreme Boss) but Susana decides she wants to be called "Máster" because she has a Master's degree. She tells them that they have important investors present today and they will be touring the offices. Susana wants them to see their organization and professionalism. They will arrive in an hour. Susana tells Julieta that she went through her report yesterday and the alebrijes are arriving almost too late to be included in the catalog. Julieta assures her they will be there.

Robert drops off Dave at school. He sees Crisanta and Sebas outside of the school. Crisanta asks Sebas to behave. He says he can't promise. Crisanta notices that Robert brought Dave and says she can always just stop by his house and pick up Dave if he cannot bring him himself to school. He thanks her.

Daniela drops off Frida who has no lunch or money. Dani gives her money to buy something "healthy'.

At Cklass, Susana is talking about the company and trying to win over the investors as she gives them the tour.

Julieta is with Casandra in her office and is worried that Blanquita has a fever. She sends Casandra out to deal with the investors. Dani and Gabriela bring in the boxes of alebrijes. Blanquita is starting to cry. Julieta asks why they are bringing the boxes to her office. They are supposed to go to be checked in at the warehouse. Blanquita is screaming and crying louder and louder. They decide to open up the boxes then and there. It turns out that the alebrijes were all broken in transit. Dani asks Gabriel what happened. Blanquita cries on.

Ari is doing a photo shoot and Audifaz, his father, has taken advantage of that opportunity to try and sell his book. Susana comes in with the investors. Audifaz interrupts her presentation to try to sell her a book. Susana finally gets a word in and asks who he is. He is Audifaz the father of one of Cklass's biggest stars: Ari the model and the uncle of the vice-president of creativity Julieta. Susana cannot believe it. This is not a market place. She orders him to stop his book sales immediately. With his hands on his hip, he demands to know who she is to order him to leave. She tells him that Julieta's boss is ordering him to stop. He is to take all of his things and leave or she can have security help him.

Julieta cannot believe that they sent her broken alebrijes. She asks Dani how that happened. Dani thought they were okay because she went over every one. As Blanquita starts to scream again, it becomes clear that Gabriel was responsible for the problem. Dani and Gabriel apologize but Julieta tells them that it doesn't really matter. Bili is talking to Julieta again. Blanquita is screaming.

Robert is talking with Tavo (the local psychologist and his buddy) that it may not be a good time for him to take that class with the way things are at home right now. Respectfully, Tavo asks, who is making the decision. He or Julieta?

Susana goes to Julieta's office on her tour with the investors. When she sees and hears the chaos with the boxes of broken alebrijes and a screaming Blanquita, she decides to take the investors elsewhere.

Comments:
Well, it looks like Julieta has a new assistant. Luz has been replaced by Casandra Gabriel’s sister. Too bad. I liked Luz.

Gabriel is looking more like a liability as a husband/business partner since he seems to not take the business or anything very seriously. Daniela has to remind him that they have no money as he seems to want to fritter away what they don’t have? It looks like there could be big trouble coming down that road. Daniela isn’t laughing as much at his antics as she used to.

I cannot wait to see who moves into the vacant apartment.

So far so good.

Wow Jarifa. Haven't read the recap yet (that will have to wait until much later) but aren't you a doll to provide all that background information for us newbies. Thanks so much amiga. Very helpful.

Oh Jarifa, what a tremendous help your listing old and newer characters! Quite the cast, isn’t it? Loved “serendipitous events”. I think even I was able to follow along although I don’t recall who newer member Pancho is…

Thie was beautifully crafted Jarifa. Just wonderful.

And Luz! Yes, she was wonderful - I will miss her!

Last night's theme mirrored real life in depicting with brutal honesty the toll the stress and strain of everyday life takes. Everyone is affected - parents who must rearrange schedules daily to do their work and get their children taken care of and transported safely to school. Couples with slightly different priorities and temperments may easily fall into the trap of arguin, disagreeing and blaming each other when things don't fall perfectly into place (Gab and Dani). Sadness and depression can pull the most stalwart couples apart (Blanca and Eugenio). Finally, the sacrifices parents make can often not atone for the time parents must stay away working (Julieta, Robert, Susana).

"Robert repeats he did a good thing but in a bad way". One of the many reasons Robert is and always will be a great galan. Pleased to see the matching pj's but sorry there wasn't more snuggling and less scowling last night.

I smiled seeing Catalina and of course, she was the one to open the door to Susana! I am very interested in seeing how this story goes.

Blanquita is quite the crier. The little tyke did not appear at all happy. Her crying however certainly added to Julieta's stress...I could not believe the broken alebrijes!.

Poor Audi cannot seem to do anything right. I would like to see he and Polita in a good place financially and for her to scrap the Tupperware. Permanently.

Not much went right last night but Dave now has a good friend in Sebas.

I could go on and on but will end with a huge thank you Jarifa. This was fantastic.

Diana

Jarifa – Thank you for the great summary and character outline! I had already forgotten about Icknacio! Did not forget not-so-Linda nor Bruno. Let’s hope Bruno comes back a better person. And thank you for your awesome recap! I’ll watch this episode later today.

”Last night's theme mirrored real life in depicting with brutal honesty the toll the stress and strain of everyday life takes.” So true, Diana. That is what makes this telenovela so different.

Gabriel is classic rich boy who never worried about where the money would come from to pay for things, and has no idea how to live on a budget, much less a tight budget.

I’m puzzled about the financial straits of the Corsegas. Didn’t Tulio (or Ana) pay back everything he got from Imelda over the years? Didn’t we see Imelda being chauffeured around in a big black Lincoln Navigator in the first episode of this season? The mixed messages are all confusing. If they are that broke, Imelda should be riding around in a taxi. Vaya!

Thank you, Jarifa. You went over and beyond and it is greatly appreciated.

I got the impression that Imelda knows ALOT more than she is letting on about an extended family out there. Doris, I'm not sure if Tulio gave any money back, but I'm thinking it is probably his chauffeur who is driving Imelda around.

What puzzled me is that Crisanta presented herself as Crisanta Diaz rather than Crisanta Corsega Diaz. She must have taken the Corsega name if Susana'a last name is Corsega...but I guess the writers have to prolong the mystery as long as they can. And then 'Tito' told Robert that his name is Tito Cruz; though he did seem to be making up that name.

Jarifa, last I remember, Belen threw her ex to the curb and wanted nothing more to do with him. Maybe she's off somewhere with Augusto (Gabe's father) since they were the only two single adults left in the circle of "friends".

Jarifa, you are a doll to do a synopsis of season one in addition to a recap of the episode. Thank you!!! It really helped me understand what was going on. I don't know if I will be able to keep track of all these characters.

I loved the matching pjs...Julietta, Robert, Dave all looked great. However, the little actress playing Blanquita was crying for real which upset me.

Diana, you are so right about this show depicting the true struggle of daily life. Our daughter is very thankful that hub and I are here to help with her children so that she can get to her job an hour away. We try to help her as much as possible to make sure her girls are always cared for.

Susana G. Can rock a red dress!!! What an hourglass figure.

Where's kirby? Is he sitting this one out?

Susanlynn, I don't think Kirby watched the first either.

I miss him already!

Diana

Jarifa, thank you for this great episode recap and character list! Lots and lots of information here, and all useful. I now feel more or less caught up, which I was not feeling before I read your Season One summary.

And at least one mystery is cleared up, the "Master" bit. It sounds really silly to me, but... Well, everybody else has a title, Licenciado, Ingeniero, etc. Maybe.

It's Primary Day in New York State and lots of excitement this year; I have to run, hopefully more later.

andy

Thanks for the review of season 1, Jarifa! I needed it! And great recap! Btw, it definitely looks as if Susana is not a stereotypical villainess, just an even-more-stressed business executive/mom than Julieta. I recommend that they both watch "9 to 5" and set up a more family-friendly work environment. I suspect that Blanquita may be cutting some teeth. Of course, Blanca would be thrilled if she were asked to look after Julieta and Robert's children, and that may end up being the solution to the child-care problem. Maybe she could trade off with Julieta's mother. I too wonder who has rented the apartment. I'm thinking it will be important. This novela definitely has its groove back in episode 2 and I am SO happy it has returned!

Hopefully Kirby will be along soon, but it could be that he prefers TNs with more action and excitement. Or he could be exhausted from all the recapping he and Rgv Chickie did for "La Bella y Las Bestias" and is out communing with the birds of Florida and recharging his internal battery.

:-)

andy

Communing and recharging. Love it Andy :)

That sounds wonderful...

Diana

Jarifa, thank you so much for summarizing all the characters and all the "whys" about their situation in the TN. I should have thought of it on the first recap, but I didn't. I'm glad one of us is thinking! :) It's amazing how much we forget after a few months. I didn't have my closed captioning on and I didn't get the fact that these little figurines that Daniela was working on actually had a name. I called them "toys". I'm wondering how in the world they got broken though. Wooden items aren't usually so fragile.

Julieta has way overbooked herself. She needs to have someone help them with the children instead of trying to do it all. No one can "do it all" no matter how organized you are. Things will go wrong and moms and dads become overwhelmed. This would be a good time for them to ask Blanca for some help, but it looks like Blanca is experiencing her own trials and tribulations trying to keep the bakery going and attending to Eugenio and his problems.

Susana asking for everyone to be at work at 7:00 a.m. is asking too much. I'm not even up till 7:30 myself! ;) But looks like she has her own problems...too focused on work and not enough on her children. She does not behave as a loving mother should. I was noticing how she treated Sebastian, not one loving word to him! Just "do this, do that, why don't you, or why aren't you..." No wonder the older son didn't address her as mother. I thought at first he was her younger brother, but seems he is really her son.

So did Imelda "fake" Cornuto's death? Is the grave empty and only has a gravestone there?

Yes, where is Kirby? I do miss him. :)

Crisanta's name is probably Crisanta Diaz de Corsega, and she likely didn't feel the need to introduce herself properly.

So is Mr. Corcega a bigamist? If he married both of these women, Crisanta's marriage is null. Or are they not married but Susana still got the last name?

How was Mr. Corcega able to walk away so easily from his sons like nothing? Simply made up a whole new life in the states and forgot them?

How was Imelda able to fake Mr. Corsega's death? For someone so enshrined in traditional values, it's hard to believe she didn't forgive him for the sake of the family. Were the children old enough to sustain her that she didn't need Mr. Corcega anymore?

What happened to the father of Susana's kids?

Right Anon @ 2:17. I recall one episode about Imelda clearly telling Marisol that she should forgive Ignacio and not divorce. So I am wondering about this and now it seems to be that Imelda's widowhood was all faked. Did Cornuto walk away and she just had him declared dead or what? Or was it that he was "dead to her" and she did not allow him back her life not even to see their children? Sometimes that happens when the wife is so angry with her husband's cheating that she never allows him back to visit the children. I am wondering too if they did get a divorce.

Cynthia, I was confused about how the toys got broken as well. I thought they hand carried them there (?) And the fact every single one was damaged leads me to believe somthing was done on purpose.

Mr. Cosega got game. Or had game. He doesn't seem like a player, does he??

Yes, I am wondering who is the father of Susana's kids too!

Diana

Some parents walk out of their homes and their children's lives with nary a backward glance. So very sad. I know of several instances personally and all were gut wrenching.

I am also thinking now that Imelda was never married.

Diana

Cute the way the writers keep staging things so that the different branches of the Córcega family who could actually identify each other as relatives or reveal that Julieta's boss is Sebas's mother, Robert is Julieta's husband (to Julieta and Crisanta), etc. never actually meet each other. Wonder how long all this "just missing each other" (characteristic of slapstick comedy and farces--I just taught that in a lit class) will go on. Anonymous is right that Crisanta's primary surname would still be Díaz, even though she is married to a Córcega, and that her full surname would be Díaz de Córcega, which would be a mouthful in introducing oneself to a casual acquaintance.

Diana, they actually carried those figurines in huge boxes, but the boxes did not look very sturdy. I can't recall if they were in tissue paper , but they should have been in bubble wrap because they looked pretty delicate.

Thanks, everyone for stopping on by. It sure makes it more fun!

LOL I had to get out my character list complete with photos when I started to watch/recap again. Names are not my strong suit in novels, novelas or real life. I am glad the background info helped you all.

JudyB, I am glad you are joining us on the patio.

Diana, you hit it on the head with how the novela "mirrored real life in depicting with brutal honesty the toll the stress and strain of everyday life takes." I think that that is what makes this novela so good. It is so realistic and therefore so relatable.

doris, I think you have perfectly described Gabriel. So far, he seems to have no concept of money and why he can't get what he wants when he wants it. He has started getting on my nerves already when Daniela wanted to go back and work and he wanted to go to the fair.

Susanlynn, the matching pj's were Julieta's and Robert's "thing" from the very beginning.

RgvChick, thanks for the info on Belén. Maybe she will show up later.

SpanProf, ITA that the novela has its groove back. I really started off with a band and so much has happened already in the first two capítulos.

Cynthia, I have several alebrijes at home and they are delicate in their carving and construction even though they are made of wood. ITA that Julieta and (I would add Robert) are both way overbooked.

Andy, the "Máster" thing did seem a little pretentious but things are different in other places. Oh well, better they call her "Máster" rather than some other names they could. . . : )

Anon 2:17, the Canuto mystery should prove interesting especially with Imelda and Crisanta involved.

Cynthia , yes, Blanca seemed too stressed out about money and keeping Eugenio on track with the bakery to HELP Julietta and Robert with the kids. P.s. I get up at 5.30 am, so I could work for Susana and get there early. Yawn...on homework duty now and correcting tests of my own.

What a mystery about Imelda's past. Did she really think the guy died ,or is that just what she told people? It will be interesting watching this feud between Imelda and Crisanta play out.

Susanlynn: I also like to know how the rivalry between Imelda & Crisanta started too.

Jarifa: You were AMAZING in this recap, putting every last detail.

Thank you again, Jarifa, for your recap.

I finally watched this episode..LOVe that Blanquita has matching jammies. David probably does, too.

Imelda probably caught Canuto in an affair and faked his death like fake news. I would not put it past that old bat. She has some skeletons in her closet, for sure. The grave is probs empty or full of rocks.

Diana - the idea that Imelda was never married is intriguing ... and her being the "other woman" but with three kids? Yikes.

Alebrijes are quite fragile. If not properly packed, they can break. Did Gabriel do the "packing"? He would be clueless.

Thanks, Jarifa. Great job.

I'm still with Gabe. If not for him, Dani would have no fun. ITA nuts to let him do the packing though.

So Imelda's got a secret. That husband or non-husband of her sure likes domineering women.

Doris ,yes, Dave had those pjs, too. So cute...family jammies !

Jarifa, I had no idea then about alebrijes. I had not even known the word existed or anything about them. So they must be carved out of very soft wood then to be that fragile. I've never seen one before in my life and as far as I know, no one that I know in my circle of family/friends has any in their homes. I learn something everyday from this patio!

You and me both! This patio has a wealth of information. If you do a search on alebrijes you will see how fanciful and colorful they are.

Niecie, this series was good about resolving plots quickly in the first season. I hope we don’t have to wait too long until we get the whole story on Canuto.

Canuto's confession to his grandson suggested that Crisanta was the other woman, not imelda. He said imelda never forgave him for cheating. The other woman could have been someone else too, and he met crisanta later. Or perhaps Crisanta doesn't know that she once was the other one.

Yes, awesome recap. I just came in new never saw part 1 so I am caught up. 🤗

Great job on update on old and new characters and recap. I will miss Luz. Not sure if I will be able to watch the TN, but will try to read the recaps. Thanks, keep up the good work!
