Mi marido tiene más familia Capítulo 3 Thursday 9/13/18 "Reality Bites"

It is breakfast time at Blanca's and Polita has stopped by with the forms from the new renter and to eat. She leaves.

Blanca is still having a problem with Eugenio's attitude and his not being able to get comfortable in bed so she can sleep. She loves him "till death do they part" but if he continues like he is, that will surely kill her.

Robert continues talking to Tavo about his professional goals. When Tavo first met Robert his dreams were very clear. What happened? Robert thinks back to taking care of his patients and Dave. Tavo asks him why he is there.

In Julieta's office she talks to Daniela and Gabriel about their failure to deliver the alebrijes and toys. Daniela says she will get busy and replace them all. There is no time for that. Julieta says she trusted them and had a lot of patience and now she ends up having another problem with Susana because of them. Daniela says it was a lack of organization that did them in. Julieta remarks it was a big lack of organization. Gabriel keeps trying to minimalize it all. Daniela apologizes and says they will talk to her boss and take the blame. Gabriel doesn't seem to agree. Julieta gets a call that a man who says he is her uncle wants to talk to her. She realizes it must be Audifaz. She is on her way.

Susana is ready to seal the deal with the investors. It turns out that they will need to think about investing in "Cklass." Susana is not happy not being able to close the deal.

Canuto drops her off Crisanta at her shop. Crisanta kisses Canuto and goes into her shop. He sees Imelda arriving with Lázaro right next door and goes to hide in his truck.

After Eugenio drops baked good on the floor, Blanca tells him if he does not do his physical therapy, he won't be able to move at all. Wit hall of his moving around she feels likes she is on a tobogan going this way and that. He sarcastically asks if she didn't sleep at all. No, she slept about five minutes. How wonderful for her! She cannot wait until Robert comes to take him. If he doesn't go for his therapy, he will no longer be staying at his home. She doesn't want to hear about his mother owning the building either. He will be sleeping in the bakery among the baked goods.

Crisanta is back out wondering why Canuto (Tito)is still outside of her shop in his truck. Isn't he supposed to be going to the doctor? He says he is going. She tells him he better get going. As he drives away, she sees Imelda come out to water the plants. They both give each other dirty looks with a hand on the hip and a good shake to boot.

Audifaz is in the lobby trying to sell his books while Ari is meeting his fans. He wants to take advantage of his popularity. Julieta talks to him. He mentions that her boss caught him selling while Ari was modeling. Julieta tells him how it is. First of all, she isn't his niece. Second, he cannot sell anything there. She tells Ari he cannot meet with his fans there. They move down the hall. She "thanks" Audifaz for causing her more problems with her "beloved" boss. Audifaz is not happy with her.

At the hospital, Robert is treating Canuto's burn and asks if he has ever had problems with wounds healing before. No, he hasn't. Robert sees his test results and that Canuto has diabetes. That is no surprise to Canuto.

From outside their dueling businesses, Crisanta and Imelda argue about who the street belongs to. Imelda says she was just watching for the big old fleas coming from Crisanta's shop. Crisanta declares she would never have fleas but they could be on Imelda's clothes since they are old enough to be in a museum. Imelda remembers when the street was a place of tranquility and decency. Crisanta says that when she came it became a street of JOY! Crisanta asks if Imelda likes the name of her shop: "Crisancha." Amalia asks if she is going to sell clothing AND snacks. (ancha means wide) Crisanta insists that she is going to make triple the amount of money that Imelda makes. Crisanta dances away with her sales girl. Imelda just has to see what merchandise Crisanta is selling.

Robert explains the severity of diabetes to Canuto. Why is he not following a treatment plan? Canuto does watch what he eats but has a problem with putting other chemicals in his body. Robert asks if he does not know that his life is in danger. Canuto does not want his family to worry or suffer because of him. Robert insists that he see a specialist because diabetes can prevent wounds from healing. Before he can lecture too much more, Canuto asks him to help him heal his burn and he will take care of the rest.

In the hallway, Daniela tells Gabriel off. Does he have any idea of the hours it takes her to make each of her alebrijes? toys? All he had to do was to be responsible for them being transported. He admits that it was due to his not being careful. He apologizes. She is disappointed in him. He hears Susana's high heels and they stop talking.

Susana arrives and demands to know where Julieta is. Their answer is a mumble jumble of nothing useful. Susana asks Daniela and Gabriel to follow her to take care of this matter. They end up in her office. How they could send the order late and in such poor condition? In the conversation, Susana learns that Julieta is related to Daniela. Everyone seems to be related to Julieta. That is not a good thing. She also finds out they are married and work out of the house. Daniela gets defensive and says she does not understand what the difference is between their work life and their private life. Susana tells them that is exactly what the problem is. Mixing love and business is a big mistake. Then there are people who get married without knowing each other very well, without knowing their partner's defects. That hits a nerve and Daniela asks if Susana is now a marriage counselor. No, she is not but after seeing the quality of the shipment, she wants to know who didn't demand enough of the other. Daniela and Gabriel have on their sad faces. Then Susana adds that she is speaking from experience and doesn't see their marriage lasting more than a year. Gabriel says she has no right to give her opinion about their personal life. Susana agrees but what she can get into is their work. She shows them their contract. It is canceled. They also owe a fine for not fulfilling the contract and the advance they were given. Gabriel says they don't have the money to pay. Well, maybe that is something they should have thought of before signing the contract is Susana's response. She then gives them lollipops saying that they are good for stress.

Robert arrives at the bakery and Eugenio complains that his mother has been unbearable and tells Robert about his mother's threat. Robert sides with Blanca. Eugenio complains that with every day that goes by Blanca is more like Robert's wife controlling everything. Blanca asks that she not be compared to Julieta who does not know her limits. She has Robert tied to her apron strings. Robert is aggravated with the way Blanca and Eugenio are talking about Julieta and he tells them he does not like it. They only want to "help him out" and are telling him "for his own good." Robert tries to explain that they are a different kind of couple. He is more of a homebody and she is more of an executive type. No, there is nothing wrong with that. They are only saying it because they think that Julieta is bringing him down. They only want him to value himself. Robert is uncomfortable. Time for them to go to his dad's therapy.

Catalina visits Julieta at work and mentions that Dave's friends mother is just like Julieta. Catalina reads Julieta's tarot cards and says that things do not look good.

Daniela and Gabriel run to Julieta's office to give her the bad news about the fine and advance. Gabriel tells Julieta they have no money. The talk is cut short because Susana wants to see Julieta in her office. Rather than calling Susana the Máster she calls her the Monster.

Susana talks to Julieta. She is angry that Julieta's whole family seems to be involved in the office one way or another. That is nepotism. Julieta tries to explain that her relatives got their jobs by their own merits but it goes nowhere. Susana makes it clear that the investors left without closing the deal because of Julieta's mistakes. Also, nobody at Julieta's level in a company takes their children to work with them. From now on, Susana wants Julieta's daughter to be cared for outside of the business when Julieta is working. A crying Julieta literally begs her to let Blanquita stay but Susana will not be swayed. Julieta has sweet flashbacks of her and her daughter. Yes! Susana has chldren but the office is no place for them. People, especially women have to make sacrifices. Susana tells her that she cannot "have it all." She needs define her priorities and will not argue about it anymore. She notice that look of hatred on Julieta's face again. They just have too much work to do. Why doesn't Julieta ask her mother or her mother-in-law to look after the baby? She will see her at work tomorrow at 7:00 a.m. sharp. After Julieta leaves, Susana looks sad and looks at a photo of her two sons.

Amalia has reconnoitered Crisanta's business and taken photos of the clothes Crisanta is selling. Imelda seems to think they are indecent! They cannot allow them to be sold! She sends Lázaro to get a big bucket of red paint. Imelda seems to be relishing what she is planning on doing.

At the hospital, Robert introduces Eugenio to Dr. Axel who will be in charge of his therapy. Eugenio refuses to work with him because he looks like a kid. Axel understands and excuses himself. When alone, Robert tells Eugenio he cannot just rule somebody out because of their age. Well, Eugenio doesn't have any confidence in him. Eugenio insists he could just do his exercises at home. That does not fly with Robert. Eugenio needs medical supervision. His father is fed up with the aches and pains of being old. Robert understands but there is always a solution.

Back with Daniela and Gabriel, Julieta says she can try to talk Susana into letting them pay the fine and advance they owe through installments rather than a lump sum. No, it is not a good idea for Gabriel to talk to Susana again. Now Julieta just wants to be alone with Blanquita. Also, would they move their alebrijes and other things out of her office? Julieta thinks back at what Susana said. She and Blanquita cry some more. She hopes Blanquita understands it all when she is older.

Robert explains how the "expander" is going to help his young burn victim Gabi stretch her scalp so she can grow her own hair. She is happy she will have her own hair back and be pretty again.

Canuto talks with Axel his grandson. Dave's dad is Robert Cooper. Canuto says he is very kind. Axel likes him. Axel asks Canuto what he is planning on doing with the family. Canuto still has not made up his mind. He feels like destiny is deciding for him.

Imelda is ready to put her plan in action. She conspires with Lázaro and Amalia. They paint a very wide red stripe on the sidewalk in between her shop and Crisanta's. She is doing it so that the people will no the border between good taste and the common trash next door. Amalia is worried about the police. Imelda says not to worry, they have more important things to do.

Daniela and Gabriel are driving to pick up Frida. He understands that she is angry. Isn't she ever going to forgive him? It isn't that she doesn't love him. If she didn't she wouldn't put up with all of this. She wonders if he really appreciates the seriousness of what happened. She has not gotten over what Gabriel did or his attitude towards it all. His problem is that he never grew up. That is why he is so irresponsible. He doesn't put out 100% effort. Maybe working together in a business wasn't the best idea. He is sure they will be a success. Daniela asks what if Susana is right that they got married without really knowing each other and aren't going to last.

Julieta tries to go over Susana's head on the corporate ladder to plea her case but has no success. The maintenance staff comes in to remove the baby furniture. Casandra will miss Blanquita, too. Julieta starts crying again.

Daniela and Gabriel pick up Dave and Frida from school. She has a huge lollipop. Daniela and Gabriel are still arguing. Frida asks them if they are fighting. No, everything is fine.

Julieta calls Robert at the hospital. He is still with patients. She cannot make it to pick up Dave at school. He is not free either to go pick up Dave at school. He suggests they call his mother because she is free. She doesn't want to bother his mother but gives in and says to give her her thanks. Crisanta suddenly calls Robert to let him know there isn't anybody to pick up Dave at school. She is there and offers to take Dave home and feed him. Robert says okay and thanks her. A nice spicy shrimp broth awaits them.

Ari is transmitting a live dance performance for his fans on the internet from the empty apartment in Blanca's building. Polita and Blanca come in and tell him the apartment has been rented. They are ready to clean. By the way, the renter paid a full year's rent in advance. Polita really doesn't have any other info. Blanca hopes the person isn't into anything illegal with being able to pay that amount of money up front.

Dave and Sebas are having a great time with all of his toys. Sebas says that they buy him whatever he wants but are never around. Both of his parents work a lot. Before their divorce, they fought a lot. This makes an impression on Dave.

Susana talks with Julieta one more time. tells Julieta to just calm down. She has nothing against her. She thinks that Julieta is a great vice president and that these changes will benefit the company and Julieta. Julieta disagrees because being kept away from her daughter will never be a good thing for her. Susana suggests that Julieta take off the rest of the day so she can go home and take care of her child care issues. She will see her tomorrow. After a lukewarm reaction from Julieta, she turns nasty and reminds Julieta they will be starting early tomorrow at 7:00 a.m. sharp. The secret is to get herself organized!

It is dinner at Crisanta's. What a small world! Canuto finds out that Dave is Dr. Cooper's son. Imelda knows him already. The door bell rings and it is Robert. Canuto is uncomfortable.

Daniela and Gabriel are trying to organize the remains of the alebrijes. He suggests that they hire somebody to clean for them. Daniela has to tell him one more time that they do not have any money. Frida watches it all. She has some hard drawing homework. Gabriel will help her. Daniela tells Frida to stop eating the candy. Gabriel supposedly hits his hand by mistake on a piece of wood and has an exaggerated response which is supposed to be a joke. Daniela sort of laughs after a while.

Julieta leaves the office with Blanquita one last time. She has Blanquita wane goodbye to everyone. Susana appears. All of the women in the office turn and give her the evil eye. Susana feels their contempt.

In the car, Julieta tells Blanquita that everything will be fine as Blanquita cries on.

I cannot wait to see what Imelda has planned for Crisanta. It promises to be good.

I must say susana is right the office is not good for the baby 👶 and julieta must understand she needs help with her baby is either her mom or mother in law to take care of little Blanca and also pay more attention to her husband. Sometimes you just can’t have it all

Inspired title Jarifa.

Another outstanding summary!

"Their answer is a mumble jumble of nothing useful" and "Amalia has reconnoitered Crisanta's business" (what a great word) were but a few favorites.

Although I loathed all of Susana's words and actions, what I despised most was her planting seeds of doubt in Gabe and Dani's minda. "after seeing the quality of the shipment, she wants to know who didn't demand enough of the other". She needn't fan the flames. As charming as Gabe is, he is clearly Peter Pan. Loving, childlike and all that accompanies it. That appeal is fading naturally as adulthood and all of its pressures required in the real word rears its ugly head. A man's decisiveness, rather than a boy's daydreaming are what Dani and their relationship needs at times.

Robert is barely treading water himself. He is devoted to his family and is the epitome of kindess, caring compassion. Wrap that in amazing physician skills, he is pretty much perfect. I do sense a lack of ambition at times. But, I don't think that is a bad thing...

Lázaro seems to be always lurking around. He is the new “Radar” (think MASH)… I like that he seems up for anything – red paint included.

Gabi was adorable.

I have to say the litttle actress playing Blanquita appears to be miserable. I suggest a casting change. The little tyke clearly does not wish to be part of the show. Her crying is way too real and made last night even harder to watch.

The way Susana handled Julieta was terrible.

Mavis, I have mixed feelings on the office as a nursery. My feeling is that it doesn't seem quite fair to allow it for one person, but not others. Does rank have its priviliges? Yes, but I'm not convinced this should be one of them. Wouldn't all mothers love to have their children with them? I believe someone here suggested an on site day care. I think it's the perfect solution. Quality time for all. That said, Julieta does also have several more than willing to step up and babysit. There are many women who have no options at all and who must spend most of their salaries in day care or not work at all as they would have nothing left after day care. Very sad.

I lost my earlier post but tried to assemble this as best I could.

Jarifa, you are an outstanding recapper. I always enjoy every single word.

Thank you.

Diana

Wait. Susanna Gonzales is in this TN?
I saw her in....

Her underwear and realized I'm not actually gay after all !

Good Morning

Mavis, I so agree about Blanquita needing to be cared for elsewhere. The screaming during the investors’ tour made me cringe. It seems to me that “having it all” might leave you with no time to enjoy it.

Diana, you always put things so well and this time it is about Gabriel and Robert and I agree. In the case of Gabriel, charm can only get you so far when there are bills to be paid. There is going to need to be a major transformation for that character. As for Robert, I like that he is not overly ambitious. Too much ambition could mean he would never be home.

Time to make coffee and get on with the day! 🌞

Very funny, Kirby. And there she is as your latest avatar!

While I have to admit I like your wildlife avatars more, Susana does look amazing Kirby.

I can hardly think of anyone else who could have worn that tight plaid dress on epsiode 1 as well as she did. The woman must not eat! :)

Anyway, good to see your post...

Diana

Thank you for your recap, Jarifa!

No warm up act with this second season, nope, it has hit the gas pedal and away we go in fourth gear.

"Gabe .... is clearly Peter Pan". Good one, Diana!

"The way Susana handled Julieta was terrible." I agree, and that is the point. La Master is a workaholic whose children are accessories, like custome jewelry, and perhaps unplanned ones at that. I've known people like her. They eat broken bottles for breakfast. No real compassion or people skills. Never sure why they had kids, other than to check that off a "to do" list.

Children do not belong at the office with their mother or father in lieu of day care. No decent play area or quiet dark space for napping, massively distracting for parent employee, crying, etc.,

Do we have any Caray Patio friends who live in the path of hurricane Florence? I hope everyone can stay safe.

Doris: Everybody stay safe from Hurricane Florence.

Thank you, Jarifa! Outstanding recap!

I agree with everyone about Julieta needing to understand that she can't have it all. I'm surprised she wasn't bombarded with complaints from the employees and requests to bring their own children...and on top of that she uses her assistant as a babysitter. How many women have that luxury? None that I know of!

I don't know about anyone else, but I didn't like seeing Julieta cry to her new ma(on)ster. One thing I refused to do was to cry in front of my bosses or my employees. Call me stubborn, proud or whatever...there are only a handful of people that saw me cry at the office and it wasn't work-related; it usually had to do with someone's passing.

How strange that Imelda is the one working. What happened to Blanca's wish list? Other than Eugenio and Blanca telling each other that they luurve each other every chance they get, nothing has changed. In fact, a lot of the characters have reverted to their former selfish, irresponsible selves (i.e, Audifaz, Gabe, Ari...) What happened to all the lessons learned in Season 1?)

Kirby, glad to see you here and woofing as always :-)

Prayers to those in the path of Hurricane Florence.

Thanks, Jarifa. Perfect title.

Wow, last night's episode was anything but relaxing. Yes, Blanquita's crying was all too real. You'd think that a company where most (all?) the workers are women would be more family friendly. Susana is a miserable person and likes to spread it around. Dani and Gabi's marriage is none of her business. Doesn't mean she was wrong though.

"I've known people like her. They eat broken bottles for breakfast. No real compassion or people skills..." Hmmm. Where do you live doris?? We must surely know the same people :) Isn't that a ton of truth. Actually, I often wonder if a woman who works at my company eats nails. I've kept that musing to myself. Thus far.

Rgv Chick, so you never cried in front of your bosses or staff. I give you credit beyond words. I wish I could say the same but I have broken down a few times. When I was younger, I cried out of anger or frustration. The older I've gotten, I've cried out of pain. Feeling under/never valued and under/never appreciated is always challenging but particularly so when you devote decades to your job only to realize you have lost precious time that could have been spent with loved ones. Something you can't ever recapture.

I've quoted this before but Madeleine Albright noted “There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women." And Susana, that is where you are headed if you don't straighten up.

I'll add my voice in hope that everyone remains safe during Hurricane Florence.

Diana

RgvChick, we’re at the same ״no tears at work” table. I’d never give anyone the satisfaction being ornery as I am. So, Julieta got on my nerves, too, because it happened and then it went on and on.

Diana, love thatMadeline Albright quote.

Thanks so much, Jarifa!

Wow, just got here , and what a lively patio. How much coffee have you had so far?

Aha, Kirby, there you are , sly fox. I knew that you would not be able to resist Susana. I saw her on Bailando years ago, and I think that she won! She is a terrific dancer and looked smashing in the sparkly costumes. You can probably find some episodes in youtube. I have to say that she has an amazing figure. I also think that she looks like the beautiful actress\model Caitronia Balfe.

Mavis, I am right there with what you said. Years ago, At the community college where I teach, my students would bring their young kids to class occasionally and a few faculty members would occasionally leave their kids in their offices while they taught. Well, that was stopped. My mother and mother-in-law watched my kids when I worked parttime.

And yes, women were once told "you can have it all" ...but I think that time has proved that something has to give.

I, too, cannot stand to hear that poor little girl cry for real. Often, when a child or baby is supposedly crying, we see them from the back, and they are not actually crying, but this little girl seems truly traumatized.

Diana, I have always tried not to cry in front of my students, but it did happen twice when my brother-in-law was dying of cancer. My students were all young adult males who were very sympathetic and one guy brought me soup from the vending machine . Crying in front of people makes you feel very vulnerable.

Superb recap, Jarifa! Yep, Diana, the obvious compromise for Susana and Julieta on the Blanquita question is an onsite daycare staffed by early childhood educators. Then Susana would become a wonderful progressive boss and might rate a story in a business magazine. As it stands, Susana isn't all that great a boss anyway. She doesn't give nearly enough notice about major schedule changes and as others have noted is way too intrusive in her employees' personal lives. Btw, I thought that in Hispanic business environments a little nepotism was ok. It's a part of enchufe, and you can generally trust your relatives (and friends). It was really funny that viewers (myself included) were led to believe that Imelda was going to splash paint on Crisanta's shop, when instead she was going to have that red stripe painted on the sidewalk. Good example of this novela's occasional comic misdirection!

Prayers for anyone in the hurricane's path. I frequent thelitforum.com for fans of Outlander , and one of the women on there
Lives between Myrtle Beach and Charleston.

SpanProf, great idea for the childcare center at the business!!! That would show a caring, progressive boss. Is this becoming more common? Hub is an accountant , and he is always amazed at how much people have to spend on childcare, especially since we have always taken care of two of our grandchildren ever since they were babies for free !

I too send my prayers to those in Florence's path. Some could not evacuate through no fault of their own.

Susanlynn: I suspect that kind of childcare may be more common in Western Europe that in the Western Hemisphere, though it does exist here. I know that the university where I teach has an onsite daycare for both students and university employees.

OT:

~sighs~ I miss watching the daily recording of CQM while eating my lunch.... #telenovelawithdrawal
😉

SpanProf, the community college has had a daycare center for students and faculty for a long time, but it is not free.
My daughter has worked in finance jobs and non-profit in NYC and Toronto and none OF replaces specified had on-site daycare.

Ours is not free, I believe, but may be on a sliding scale. Also, we have a very good early childhood education program here, which supplies some of the teachers.

only to realize you have lost precious time that could have been spent with loved ones. Something you can't ever recapture.

Diana, amen to that!

I'm not a cryer, but once I was so visibly down that a kind coworker came to my office and gave me a pillow and a back rub. I hated seeing Julieta so down, but the poor thing had been stifling so much even before Susana showed up that she just exploded. The thing about Julieta is she has a lot more options than most, namely two grandmas for Blanquita who are willing to help (though at a price to her independence), not to mention a husband who cooks and does housework.

Niecie, sad to say that Susana’s evaluation of Gabriel’s and Daniela’s marriage was very accurate.

Susanlynn, Span Prof, daycare at a work site even if it has to be paid would be a dream come true for most parents; mothers and fathers. Our country seems to be so far behind Western Europe once again.

doris, ITA . CQM was just fun.

Thanks for stopping by the patio, everyone!

SpanProf, you're right in that we haven't seen much to understand how Susana got her top slot (unless being drop dead gorgeous is part of that equation) :). Perhaps if you brandish your sword inspiring fear, you might get the same results as if you lead with confidence and knowledge. People can and do prey upon those who are vulnerable, who live hand to mouth, who will do and say anything to keep their jobs.

Well, I've learned a lot from our patio today. What a strong bunch.

Diana (sitting quietly alone at the hate-it-but-I-do-cry-sometimes table)

Sniff, sniff :)

Hello,

Regarding Robert’s lack of ambition, perhaps in some way Julieta is at fault. She can be very demanding and very disapproving when things don’t go her way, which makes her ignore what others want/need. Her reaction to Robert’s desire to take a course wasn’t supportive at all, and when she concedes that he should take said course, she only does it to protect herself from him reproaching her that she didn’t let him do it. She wasn’t really thinking of Robert’s interests at all. Then there’s the scene where Robert is telling his co-worker that he chose not to take the course, and he’s asked “Did Julieta make that decision for you?”

If one of partners in a relationship is afraid to do something/pursue other interests because of the significant other’s undesirable reaction, there’s a problem.

Robert seems to be tip-toeing around Julieta a lot. And it seems like his patience is wearing thin already. Robert’s called her out for being immature several times before (once in this season so far, several in the first). In yesterday’s episode there’s a scene where he’s finished a phone conversation with Julieta in which she asked him if he could go and pick up Dave. When Robert hangs up, he looks at the phone as though he had just spoken to an annoying person. There’s also the scene from the second episode, when Julieta became obsessed trying to figure out if Susana is a member of the Corsega family. He looked annoyed as well. There’s only so much patience that Robert can have, which is possibly why Julieta sees those “sudden outbursts” from him. Since Julieta has the dominant personality of the two, she seems to be the one defining their relationship, but she really needs to tone it down and he needs to speak up more.

I think Susana and Julieta are actually similar, and they probably don’t get along because they recognize the unattractive parts of their personalities in the other. For example, when Julieta gets angry, she starts blaming others, gets callous and can turn very condescending at times (which we saw yesterday in her dealings with Daniela, Gabriel and Audifaz)- similar to the way Susana handles her employees and contractors. Both characters have strong personalities that can come off as arrogant and full of attitude. I can see Julieta ending up like Susana in the long run if she doesn’t adjust that part of her personality. Yesterday Audifaz described Julieta as “especial” after she had her talk with him regarding the selling of his books. The Corsega family have used that same word in the previous season to describe her difficult personality. Granted, it's understandable that frustration can bring out unpleasant behavior in people, but Julieta just seems like a difficult person to get along with in general.

Maia

Wow Jarifa...another great recap and I see the Patio is buzzing today. Agree with everyone else that it's tough to watch and listen to the very real crying of Julieta's daughter. In fact, as a mom who also worked part-time, it's a little hard to enjoy this right now. Too reminiscent of the constant fatigue and stress of trying to wrangle three kids, work and cope with a mostly absentee husband. And snoring!...don't get me started.

Happy to know, though, that Kirby is enjoying the beautiful Susana. She is striking. Seems to get lovelier with age.

I have never cried at work but I have choked up when having to give sad news about very ill students, or former students who have passed away. But I have always been blessed with fairly supportive work environments. And I too remember those sweet little gestures. One fellow brought me a beautiful Braeburn apple as comfort and that apple tasted so sweet, just because it was totally unexpected. Thanks for this discussion, Patio, because I had forgotten that. And any kindness is worth remembering. And cherishing.

Hope you're all having a good day, with no tears, and no inconsolable children. And wishing you a good night with no snoring!

Doris, I too miss CQM as a lunch companion. So I'm watching Rubi on Netflix. But Lord!, she is so wicked. Every episode brings some new horror.

Jarifa, thank you this excellent and richly detailed recap. We are certainly blessed to have such dedicated and talented recappers here at Caray.

Poor Blanquita! She is having a rough time in this TN, I hope things improve for her and she mellows out a bit.

"In fact, a lot of the characters have reverted to their former selfish, irresponsible selves (i.e, Audifaz, Gabe, Ari...) What happened to all the lessons learned in Season 1?" Chickie, I think that the producers are just recycling tensions and problems from Season 1 as well as introducing some new ones with Canuto, Crisanta, et al, on the theory that a TN without emotional tension would be boring. Hmmm, probably right.

I am impressed how some of these TNs deal with some real life pressing problems. The world has changed and today generally both parents work. If we want this, and I think it is now actually the preference of most people, AND we want kids to grow up to be good adults with their heads screwed on right, we need to find a way to manage decent, affordable day care that works for both parents and kids. All parents and kids.

andy

Andy, Thinking of the same emotional tensions recurring, I think it is sort of true to life.Sometimes, people try to change but cannot do it as consistently as they would like to and fall back into their old habits. I am thinking of Blanca, even though Juan Pablo is back and she knows not to be insecure anymore, at times especially under stress, she just can’t help herself like lashing out at Julieta for not bringing her grandchildren over, etc.

Maia, I found it interesting that Audifaz would call Julieta especialita when he has shown himself to be quite especialito. Sort of like the pot calling the kettle . . . The novela is filled with very life like characters that are far from perfect. That is one reason I like it.

JudyB, I may have to give Rubí a look some time.

I don't see Robert as necessarily lacking ambition. He seems happy where he is and has a good job that we assume pays well. He likes what he does, is good at it, why put pressure on him to move up or ahead and be someone/something he possibly is not? I'm sitting at the Robert table this weekend. 😎 lol

Maia, you made some very insightful comments.

Diana, I have cried a couple times in class once after telling my students that I don't cry much and then reading an emotional passage from our book. ...and crying.

Spanprof, our community college also uses early ed students in the day care.

Great recap, Jarifa! You sure have been busy at work and doing a great job with this.

Well, I guess Julieta is going to have to agree for the grandmothers to help out with babysitting. I just would hate for Catalina to bug out on a babysitting day because the starts are not "right". LOL...I just remember her hocus/pocus new age stuff that Julieta would roll her eyes over.

Well everything looks like one Corcega family keeps missing the other on the truth. It keeps getting more interesting.

Thanks, Cynthia. It sure seems like grandma time and they both probably would love to baby sit. In a way I feel sorry for Julieta because life is taking her right down the road she never wanted before Robert found out he had birth parents in Oaxaca. Just goes to prove that life sometimes ends up being nothing like you planned.

Well, just a half hour until I hear the tuba and the theme song. . . On we roll!

Jarifa, yes, life is what happens while you are making other plans !!!

Man plans , and God laughs !

Perfect!
