deb, I bet you're right about there being 4 more episodes. I mistakenly took "últimos capítulos" to mean "last episodes," forgetting that a program is often said to be in "últimos capítulos" for a while. Duh.
I've now changed the Telemundo y Más page to reflect the correct information about when Falco will end. Again, many thanks, deb.
Fernanda is furious with Augusto after finding the gun in the toilet tank. He swears he’s not involved with the cartel. He wants the two of them to go to the police so the gun can be tested. He implies that there are spies in the house (who maybe put the gun there).
Diego talks Ricas into going to school. He lies to Isabel, telling her she’ll have to wait a bit longer for Amanda to join her.
Beside Porfirio’s hospital bed, Mateo Corona tries to get Isa’s location out of Amanda.
Zoraida comes to talk with Amanda, and Mateo threatens her with charging her with kidnapping. Down the hall Zoraida begs Amanda not to say where her mother is.
José brings Circe to his house, which she calls una pocilga (a pigsty). He assures her he’s going to build her a house worthy of her. She insists she won’t sleep with him.
Diego and Deivid talk on the phone. Diego wants to go back to the huachicol business (stealing gasoline). I don’t think he likes cleaning offices. But Deivid tells him that las cosas van patas pa’ arriba (things are a mess in Álamos).
Circe does have sex with José, and we see that silver tooth when he grins.
Diego and Isabel use the names Emiliano and Camila Guevara to enroll “Max” in school.
Porfirio tries to get Amanda to tell him where her mother is.
Circe meets up with Felipa, her tarot reader/nanny and buries her falcon. She asks Felipa for that tea that prevents pregnancy and tells her she’s going to finish off her father.
Diego is the one who manages to talk Ricas into going to school.
Mateo Corona’s girlfriend is 18 and tells him she doesn’t think it’s a crime for them to be together.
A clever trick is played on Fernanda and Eliseo. When she and Augusto are driving into town to supposedly turn in the gun, José and some other compinches arrive and assault the car on the road. José threatens Augusto with killing him and Fernanda if he doesn’t get back the drugs. He even shoots Augusto in the leg. Later we find out this was Augusto’s idea.
The cartel guys have Fernanda call Eliseo.
Isabel has no luck finding work and comes to see Marlene. Marlene takes Isa to her workplace that looks like a place where pole dancing goes on. Isa is upset and runs out, refusing to do that sort of work. I got the impression they both did gymnastics when in high school. Isa insists this is different; then they worked in leotards.
Marlene also says this is how she lives so well. Her boyfriend pays the rent, though. [I’m sure we’ll see this guy sooner or later.]
His boss tells Diego and his new friend that they have to work extra (and, of course, without extra pay for it). It turns out to be washing windows of a high rise on one of those hanging scaffolding things. At one point it breaks, and Diego saves his new friend.
Eliseo brings the drugs to free his mother and stepfather. Gavino gloats.
Mateo Corona is taking his girlfriend somewhere. She has a suitcase. Then he tells someone on the phone that it’s all set. Mordió todo el anzuelo. (swallowed the bait). Dinero, dinero y más dinero. Nos vemos en el mismo lugar. [I have a bad feeling about what’s going to happen to this young girl.]
Corona Jr. has brought his daughter to meet with some lawyer. She’s told that her mother will be prosecuted for abandoning her child and could get 40 years in jail. She tells them that her mother crossed the border, but is back in Mexico.
Gavino is suspicious of Deivid and tells Piochas he wants him watched. He thinks Diego will show up to meet with him.
José is bragging to Circe about the trick they played on Eliseo. He wants his reward (sex). She tells him she wants to be on top and then grabs and gun and points it at him. ¡Mi papá y tú dicen que no tengo huevos, pero tengo dos muy calientes (You and my father think I don’t have balls, but I have two hot ones – meaning guns, I assume.)
Isabel finds Diego with a bleeding hand from holding on to part of the scaffold to save his new friend. When she talks in a happy way about when she has her daughter back, Diego can’t lie any more. He tells her that Amanda is with her father.
Thanks very much, novelera, for this very helpful recap, including some Spanish. I totally missed the fact that Augusto's being shot in the leg was his own idea.
I was very nervous during the scene where Diego and his co-worker were trying to clean the windows of the skyscraper. I kept imagining bad things happening--Diego falling and winding up in the hospital, or perhaps his co-worker falling to his death and Diego being blamed. Needless to say, I was much relieved when Diego saved his co-worker's life.
I also enjoyed the scene where Diego was trying to persuade Max to stay at school. There seems to be an increasingly good rapport between them. I noticed, though, that when Isabel talked to Max about eventually getting an apartment for the three of them (Amanda, Max, and Isabel), Max said nothing about including Diego.
It's interesting that José's treatment of Circe at times crosses the current line, but he's not portrayed very negatively. I'm not complaining about this, I just find it interesting.
I think you're right to be uneasy about the fate of Mateo Corona's 18-year-old girl friend. Which is to say, I feel uneasy as well, so we must be right :-).
Novelera: Noticed the actor that portrayed Rivero in "EL SENOR DE LOS CIELOS" is on this TV Show.
Juanita: Gavino is one bloodthirsty psychopath.
Mateo is going to do something terrible to this young girl. Now we should wonder whether or not his wife ran off....or did he something to her. ...is she even alive,
Nett
thanks so much for the recap, novelera!
so Gavino had to kill something so he shot the bird.
I think the way the english captions came out, Marlene referred to the place she worked as a Cabaret and they are showgirls, then says it's like when we were cheerleaders in highschool, but Isabel says it's different, and that they wore leotards under their uniforms.
both Eliseo and Deivid had to convince Diego that the cartel knows about the girl and her son, and they are both in as much danger as he is.
I'm thinking Mateo sold the girl and he made it sound like he has done this before, and maybe the main reason he didn't want to be seen with her.
once again they are indicating Mexico is hard on undocumented immigrants.
Juanita, when Isa was complaining about the high rent of places Ricas did say he was starting to like living where they were.
Thanks for the fine comments, all. I agree, Juanita, that José is not portrayed as a complete rapist. Some people have commented here that he wants her so as to be Gavino's son-in-law. That's probably not a bad thing in his mind, but I think he's had a strong yen for her for probably years. He wanted to kill Diego SO badly from jealousy as well as doing the job for his boss.
Deb, I agree that Mateo probably sold the girl into prostitution. I didn't put my thoughts in my recap, but that dinero, dinero más dinero remark sure made it sound that way. I suspect he has a thing for very young girls and this isn't the first time he's sold one. If she gets needy and doesn't stay in her place, off she goes.
And, yes, I think Diego, Isabel, and Ricas will probably stay where they are, unless they have to run again if Gavino and/or Mateo find out where they are.
It's endearing but a bit unrealistic how quickly Diego has bonded with Ricas. When he first heard he was taking a child with him he seemed appalled.
Thanks, Novelera.
Amanda seems like a smart little girl, but she's no match for her dad, granddad, and the lawyer. Even I got scared when the lawyer said they could charge her mom with abandonment.
Isabel is very upset that Amanda has run away and is with her father, and she's furious with Diego. "The first time I trust you, and look what happens." She is determined to get Amanda back.
Circe has pulled a gun on José as he was trying to have sex with her. She tells him that she's not a woman that he can have whenever he wants. He objects that she's his fiancée (prometida). Well, some promises get broken, she tells him. "If we're going to be together, we're going to play by my rules." She then tells him what her three rules are: 1) I'm not your woman until we've signed the papers; 2) I give myself orders and I sleep alone; 3) I have sex when I feel like it, not when you want it and are drunk. José is turned on by her behavior. He tells her he likes her this way. He agrees that they'll do things the way she wants, including nothing [I assume he means no sex] until the wedding. But he doesn't want to waste any time. He wants them to get married in a few days, as soon as they can get a priest and a judge.
The scene shifts to Augusto, who has been treated for his gunshot wound to the leg. The doctor assures everyone that although Augusto has lost some blood and has a bit of an infection, everything is under control. He'll be fine. He just needs to rest. Fernanda tells Eliseo that she feels terrible. Augusto risked his life for her. If something were to happen to him, she doesn't know what she'd do. "Augusto was right," she says. "The Gavino cartel wants to separate us, destroy us. We can't let that happen."
Eliseo too has been taken in by Augusto's clever ploy of deliberately getting shot. Eliseo comes to see Augusto and apologizes for not trusting him. He tells Augusto that he wants him to be his right-hand man in all his dealings. And he wants him to continue as his father, as he's been from day one. [I scream at Eliseo, but it does no good.]
Eliseo also gets yelled at by Isabel. She insists that Diego let her use his phone to call Eliseo. When he answers, thinking it's Diego, she tells him she knows that Amanda has run away and is with her father, and what is Eliseo going to do to get her back? Eliseo explains that the Gaona cartel know that she's with Diego, and if she tries to approach Amanda, she and her children will be in great danger.
Isabel also continues to berate Diego. He tells her that what they should do is get a good lawyer. She points out that lawyers are very expensive, and where will they get the money to pay for one? She feels desperate. "Every second that my daughter is with her father, she's in danger." Diego insists that he cares a lot about her and her family, and he promises that somehow they'll get her daughter back.
Amanda isn't the only young woman in danger. Mateo's 18-year-old girlfriend thinks that he's about to marry her. She's in the car with him, feeling very happy. Suddenly, she sees a car blocking the road. Mateo tells her the guys in the car are friends of his who are going to help with the wedding. [Had she been watching Falsa identidad, she'd have known that the four guys were all members of Gavino's group of gangsters.] Mateo gets out of the car and walks over to the guys. He assures them that she's 18, and they hand over what looks like a pretty thick wad of pesos. He asks her to get out of the car. The next thing she knows, she's being grabbed by the thugs. Mateo says, "You were going to leave me for someone else, right?" She begins to realize that Mateo has sold her. The thugs force her into their car. Mateo drives his car off in one direction, while the thugs and his ex-novia (whose name escapes me at the moment) go off in another.
In his capacity as chief of police, Mateo goes to see the parents of the 18-year-old girl he has just sold. The parents have contacted the police about their daughter's disappearance. He asks about the daughter's behavior, whether she had a boyfriend, whether her behavior changed recently. As he's asking questions, he's also examining the contents of desks, etc. In a nightstand, he finds a photo of him hugging the daughter. He quietly pockets it without anyone noticing. He then tells the worried mother, "I'm a father, I'm a grandfather, I understand your grief." [Words fail me.]
Both Isabel and Diego decide to do whatever it takes to get money to pay for a lawyer. Isabel goes to see her friend Marlene. She apologizes for having rejected Marlene's attempt to help, and she tells Marlene that she would in fact like to get the "dancing" job Marlene had suggested. They go to the place Marlene works and tell the woman who seems to be in charge (Roxana?) that Isabel would like to work there. Roxana seems very doubtful. Isabel has no experience, and even her body isn't really well-suited to the job. As Roxana points out, Isabel has nothing in back and nothing in front (i.e., no oversized rear end and no big boobs). So no, she can't have a job. Isabel argues with her and asks that at least she should let her show what she can do. Roxana is adamant: No.
But apparently Roxana isn't in charge of everything. A guy named Jim speaks up and says he's the one who makes hiring decisions, and he'd like to give Isabel an audition. Isabel first performs alone and then together with Marlene. She really doesn't seem to have what it takes, but Jim announces that she's hired. He tells her quietly that she doesn't have much technique, but he can teach her what she needs. He likes her personality, her character. [Hmmm...do I see a romantic complication here?]
After she's hired, Isabel and Marlene go back to Marlene's apartment building. On the way, Isabel asks Marlene more about the job. She wants reassurance that no one will touch her. Marlene says not to worry. They'll be dressed in skimpy, sexy outfits, but no one will touch her. Some people may ask her to sit at their table, but she can decide whether to do so or not. And the tips are great. I think Isabel hears only what she wants to.
At Marlene's apartment building, there's a phone in the front lobby, and Isabel takes the opportunity to call Amanda. [I yell at her through the TV, but just like Eliseo, she ignores me.] Isabel either doesn't know or fails to think about the possibility of tracking phone calls. Sure enough, Porfirio Corona grabs the phone. He and Isabel get into a shouting match. He tells her that he has a lawyer and the law is on his side because she has abandoned her home. She reminds him that he beat her repeatedly and sent her to the hospital. After the call ends, Porfirio starts in on Amanda. When she says she doesn't know where her mother is, he accuses her of being a liar like her mother, and he shoves her. He then demands that she prepare some food for him, he's hungry.
Diego too is trying to find a way to make a lot more money. He asks his co-worker, Chucho, about possibilities. Chucho replies that legally, there's not much. "And illegally?" asks Diego. Chucho said that once some mafiosos approached him about cleaning and offered him 20,000 baros (i.e., pesos) for a day's work. Diego is impressed. Chucho told the guys he wasn't interested, but they told him the offer was always available, and they gave him a contact number. [I confess that I'm not at all clear about what it was that the mafiosos were asking Chucho to do. Diego asked him whether they were narcos. Chucho replied that they weren't, that they were dealers. That sounded to me as if they were narcos, but that they were selling rather than producing the drugs. But I could be way off.]
Diego isn't successful in getting the law-abiding Chucho interested in this money-making opportunity, but he does persuade Chucho to set up a meeting for him with the mafiosos.
Another thing I'm not clear about is the plan that Salas proposes to Eliseo. It involves a phone that belonged to someone who died. Salas suggests that Eliseo call I don't know who with that phone, thus giving the impression that the person is still alive.
Eliseo is worried about the fact that someone is betraying him. He wonders who it could be. [I try to tell him, but he's apparently very hard of hearing, since he doesn't hear me even though I'm shouting "It's Augusto!!"]
Gavino is upset to see Circe come to the house. José says he asked her to come. He tells Gavino that he wants the wedding to be in two days.
We see the thugs bring Mateo's 18-year-old ex girlfriend to Mexico City. Two of them then wander into a building called BABEL, which turns out to be where Marlene works. I think they see Marlene and Isabel, but I'm not sure they know who they are. End of episode.
1.) Ambar, Casasola & Isturiz getting tortured by Tavares & his thugs.
2.) Nora visited the Venezuelan Embassy to meet with the Venezuelan Ambassador to Mexico.
3.) Diana & Blue Eagle make love in the lake.
4.) Colon, Navarro & Nora strategizing.
5.) El Capo telling Elvira to shove it & get out of his house.
6.) The Female TV News Anchor just signed her death warrant by exposing BPN whacked Bizzaro Gaviota & Mayra on live TV.
7.) Of course in Playa de Carmen, BPN gets wins of this & tells El Capo to kill her.
I am enjoying Jose way too much, but his delight at Circe pulling a gun on him and telling him she's calling the shots was a hoot.
So disappointed that Eliseo is snowed by Augusto.
Hoping Amanda runs away instead of making dinner for Good ole dad.
Mateo is the lowest, hates women. I agree with an earlier comment that likely he killed his wife.
Wow! Terrific recap, Juanita. I can just envision you yelling at your television. We probably were yelling in unison.
There surely are some amazing coincidences in this novela.
What Diego and Chucho have been hired to do is clean up a crime scene and dispose of the body. The Mexico City thug says they will be killing some addict who, I think, owes money. It's another ruthless scene.
I was gobsmacked by Gavino's guys taking the girl to the same place where Isabel plans to work.
Speaking of Isabel, she was fairly annoying in this episode. If Eliseo hadn't gotten her and Ricas out of Álamo, she'd still be covered in bruises.
Amanda made a big mistake, and I think she's beginning to realize it.
Salas told Eliseo that there had been some inquiries by the parents (and grandparents) of the couple Diego and Isabel impersonated (sorry, too early to remember their assumed names). He came up with their cell phone, and Eliseo is to - I think - text that they're fine and having a good time. Obviously, he could not call. This is to buy time, I suppose.
Yes Niecie... I think its very likely Mateo killed Porforio's mom. Then again, do we know exactly when she left..how old was Porforio. It is possible that he sold her as well. But he is scum. And then to reference that he's also dad/grand dad. He doesn't appear to really love his family...he's probably capable of harming Amanda...or even selling her...who knows. I will be looking forward to his demise.
Diego is disappointing me. I know he needs money but he's living on false papers and needs to hide from the authorities and his old adversaries ...getting involved with more illegal activity is the last thing he needs.
Eliseo and his mom does not know how much of a lying coward snake Augusto is. He is now going to know every move they make and be able to attack or derail everything Eliseo does.
Nett
wow, thanks so much Juanita, a very nice recap!
Mateo is just awful, and Porfirio just can't toe that line, but tries.
I think Porfirio got Isabel's area code off Amanda's phone, Mexico city.
I wasn't sure if they took Mateo's girlfriend to the same place as where the girls are dancing, or if it was close by, but Deivid and Piochas seem to be very familiar with the club, picking out Isa as a new girl.
Nett, I think Porfirio said he was Ricas age when he lost his mother.
Juanita, "I think Isabel hears only what she wants to." I think you got this right, and we have yet to meet Marlene's boyfriend, who pays her rent, but travels a lot... could it be Piochas?
Thanks, both to novelera and Juanita. I can't believe I got everything except Jim's name and the fact that Augusto came up with the idea to get shot. He paid a heavy price to stay out of jail and in Eliseo and Fernanda's good graces.
Interesting that Augusto insisted on still taking the gun to the police station after the fact.
How long will our little Miss Tough Stuff Circe be able to keep the upper hand. As long as she's out of favor with Gavino and Jose is in favor with him, she has to have her nanny play her cards for her very carefully.
Sergio has not changed since STuD. Somewhere there is a Picture of Dorian Gray getting older by the year. And what an actor.
After seeing Big Ed in protagonist roles for, forever, what a change. I thought maybe he had a shred of decency left in his character, for old time's sake, but when he pocketed the cash and kissed his 18-year-old "bait" goodbye, I said goodbye to any allegiance I might have had for his character. Well, played, Big Ed. I'm sure Mateo has done this before, by the way.
There has to be a reason why Diego has decided to go do "cleanup" work for the mafioso. He should know he's exposing himself, Isa and Ric. But he wants the money. Surely Eliseo could send him enough to provide for their needs. Couldn't he have gotten him a better job reference? Grrrr.
Anita, I'm pretty sure we're seeing Diego's decent side in doing clean-up for the Mexico City gang, as odd as that sounds.
He was really moved by Isabel's pain at hearing that Amanda was with Porfirio. They sort of made a pact to raise money for a lawyer to fight for custody.
So, she's compromising her morals by dancing at Babel, and he is doing something really disgusting and perhaps putting himself at risk.
And, as an honest politician, I don't think Eliseo is rolling money to send to his brother.
By the way, I am struggling a bit with Diego's speech. And, in some way, it seems odd to me. Judging by Eliseo and Fernanda, Diego appears to have come from fairly comfortable background. Although I believe Fernanda hinted that Diego and Eliseo's father didn't leave them in the best financial shape.
So, it seems odd to me that he speaks so "street". He and Gavino are the only characters that I occasionally back up the recording to catch the slang. Or, in Gavino's case, read lips for the rich cursing he does!
And, yes, Big Ed is doing an amazing job at playing a monster. He almost seemed to believe what he said to the 18-year old: "You're just going to leave me." And he kissed her! And that sick little goodbye wave! Yikes!
I've had a crush on Big Ed for sometime, but I want Mateo to have the worse ending possible. I'm convinced Mateo also hates his son. He knew full well goading Porfirio to act like a brute would run his wife away and puts him down at every turn. Bad as Porfirio is, he does have feelings for Isabel (love? obsession? sense of ownership? -- I don't know, something). Mateo doesn't give a damn about anything but cash in his pocket.
Many thanks to Niecie, novelera, nett, deb, and Anita, for your appreciative responses and terrific comments.
novelera, I loved your "we probably were yelling in unison." And thanks VERY much for clearing up points that I didn't understand.
deb, I too am under the impression that the thugs took Mateo's girlfriend to a place close to BABEL but not BABEL itself. And yes, Deivid and Piochas do seem to be quite familiar with the place and the, um, dancers. It was interesting that Marlene didn't answer Isabel's question about her boyfriend's name. Like you, I suspect that he will turn out to be one of the thugs, very likely Piochas.
Anita, I loved your referring to Circe as "little Miss Tough Stuff." I confess that I'm enjoying her handling of José. As for Augusto, I don't think the price he paid (being shot in the leg) was all that high, considering that it won him the gratitude and affection of his wife and the respect and loyalty of Eliseo. And, as Nett pointed out, Augusto will now know just about every move Eliseo makes.
One thing (one of many) that I enjoyed but failed to mention in my recap involved Mateo's interrogation of his ex-girfriend's mother. He's clearly looking for anything that might incriminate him, and when he finds the photo, he surreptitiously slips it into his shirt's breast pocket. When he turns to face the mother, he holds his hand over the pocket, mostly so that she won't see any sign of the photo, but it also adds ironically to the image of heartfelt sincerity when he declares, hand over his heart, that he's a father and a grandfather, and so he understands the mother's grief. Arrgh.
Niecie, I was especially happy to know that you found the recap helpful. Like you, I watch these novelas at least in part to help with my Spanish. For that reason, I don't use English captions, but I do use the ones in Spanish. But they often go by too fast for me, and recapping is almost always a challenge. So I'm delighted when I've actually helped someone else's understanding. ¡Muchísimas gracias!
Thank you so much for the recap Juanita.
Why am I thinking that the madam/lady who rejected Camila/Isa at first could be Mateo's wife, Porfirio's mum? She could have been sold then made her way to the top somehow... Remember Antonia Guerra? La Patrona?
Hi Evageline. Glad to see you're watching this novela. Offhand, I can't think of any reason that Roxana (if that's her name) couldn't be Mateo's wife, though the possibility never crossed my mind until you suggested it. I suppose that if the thugs are planning to somehow involve Mateo's 18-year-old ex-girlfriend in BABEL, having two of Mateo's victims there might lead to some interesting complications. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
I like your theory, Evageline, that Ramona (looked it up) could be Porfirio’s long lost mamí. Mateo definitely said she ran off with another man. We could assume he’s lying and sold her into prostitution as he’s done with his current girlfriend. But I’m leaning more toward her really leaving because of being beaten by Mateo and ending up at Babel.
Azela Robinson appears to me to be typecast. She always plays a rough, hard woman. So far we don’t know if she’s going to be a villain, as she usually is. She might just have realistically decided that Isabel (Camila) was not the type to be a pole dancer and wasn’t necessarily being cruel. We’ll see.
I find it interesting that Telemundo has three major actors from Televisa (Univisión in the US) appearing in Falsa Identidad.
I had heard that they were very tough on any actor who wanted to appear in other studio's novelas.
Eduardo Yáñez, Sergio Goyri, and Azela Robinson are major Televisa actors. I was surprised to see them in a Telemundo production.
I suppose times have changed.
They are all three definitely showing off their acting chops as villains.
Goyri was amazing last night, as was the young woman playing his daughter, Circe, in that chilling father/daughter scene.
There was a lot that I think I missed last night, but here are a few things I found interesting.
The two thugs, Deivid and Piochas, do seem quite familiar with the folks at BABEL. One of them comments that they haven't seen the new girl (Isabel) before. (Well, at least he didn't say, "hey, wasn't that the woman with Diego?")
Ramona is definitely involved in Corona's/Gavino's kidnapping and selling of young women. And Corona's ex-girlfriend is now in Ramona's clutches. As someone (Ramona?) explains, there are two sides to BABEL: the dancers and the waitresses/prostitutes. Isabel has been hired as a dancer, the ex-girlfriend has been forced to be a prostitute.
José makes a surprise visit to Augusto's bedside at the hospital. He tells Augusto that if Eliseo doesn't cooperate, the next bullet will be not for Augusto's leg but for his head.
Fernanda buries in her backyard the gun Augusto used. Zoraida, unseen, sees her do so.
When Isabel returns home after being hired at BABEL, she tells Diego that she has gotten a job at a supermarket that is open 24/7.
Porfirio gives Amanda a necklace that had apparently belonged to his mother. Mateo sees the necklace and angrily takes it from her. He tells Porfirio not to give her anything from his mother. (I'm confused: wasn't that necklace the one that Mateo gave to his supposed girlfriend?)
Isabel sees the ex-girlfriend crying (after leaving a client with whom she was forced to have sex--but Isabel doesn't know this yet). Isa promises to help the young woman. Ramona sees the two of them talking. She sends the girlfriend off and then tells Isabel that she should mind her own business and stay away from Ramona's.
José tells Circe he would do anything for her (or something similarly foolish to that effect). Circé says she wants revenge on Diego and asks José to kill the person Diego cares about most, Eliseo.
novelera, I was surprised (and pleased) to see Sergio Goyri and Eduardo Yañez in the cast, since I knew they were long-time Televisa stars, and I didn't think it was likely that Televisa would want them to work for Telemundo. I googled briefly and found a statement from Goyri (who apparently had also been in Señora Acero 3) about his no long having an exclusive contract with Televisa, and his looking forward to working with Telemundo. As for Yañez, he seems to have been involved in some messy disputes and lawsuits this past year. Whether that led to Televisa's saying goodbye, I don't know. I do know that I'm very much enjoying their performances and Azela Robinson's (she was not someone I recognized) in Falsa Identidad.
Juanita--You understood it all. Thank you for the mini-cap. About the necklace. It was indeed the one Mateo gave the 18-year-old he was pretending to romance. (I don't think he ever had the intention of taking her "public." He's nothing more than an opportunistic procurer for Babel.) He snatched it from around her neck when he sold her. Porfi must have found it back among his mother's things.
Well, we saw Porfi starting to get violent towards Amanda. I wonder how long it will take before he injures her and for her to get up the courage to leave him.
Circe has a point. She told Eliseo about the drug shipment and Augusto's involvement. When it went awry, Gavino was saved. Then, Eliseo intentionally or unintentionally pointed the finger back at Circe, not knowing Auggie was in on it. This ruptured her relationship with her dad.
To kill Eliseo makes some sense in her mind because then he can no longer help Diego, whom she feels has betrayed her.
Juanita and novelera--you must have missed the long contribution by Stevey last September. It's posted on "News about Upcoming Telenovelas." Check out Part I. It's all about the upheaval at Televisa and how they are canceling the exclusive contracts for long-time actors and turning them out to pasture, with not even a good-luck for the future. Azela was one of them who got a pink slip.
She and others who were released from their contracts formed an association, Talento Libre Latino. You can see it on YouTube at:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFS4z_iq0BQ
If you don't want to read the whole essay, scroll down to the paragraph that begins: "To explain, 'exclusivity' with a network means that they are always under contract with that network, even when they're not working. The network wants you to be theirs and theirs alone—no looking at other jobs, no taking any side-projects, you work for the network and avail yourself to whatever casting the network offers that avail themselves to you and turn your crank. To keep you like this, the network will pay you a 'flat rate' year-round whenever you're NOT WORKING (so you won't get tempted to work for anybody else), regardless of whether you're actually in any productions."
The next few paragraphs explain much more. Hope this helps.
I was surprised to see Big Ed in Falsa Identidad. I didn't know he was also let go. But, so was Fernando Colunga and many others. Note also, that this is an independent production and not one of Telemundo's studio.
yes, Sergio Goyri had been playing an almost identical character in Senora Acero for a while now, I'm already ready for him to go.
didn't Michael Brown go to Televisa after Falco to be in "Contracara"?
Juanita, if it helps, what I got about Babel is that it is owned by Gavino as a legal business that he uses to launder money, with the shows being run by Jim, where as Ramona also runs the illegal side business of girls and drugs.
(there was a similar setup in another narco show, where they also pulled in all the politicos and had secret cameras in all the rooms)
I'm wondering if the necklace isn't some kind of ritual where Mateos gives it to the girl, (like he did to his wife), before he sells her. (run Amanda run)
I was hoping Circe would team up with Elisio, but, I think by having Jose kill him, she figures it will bring Diego back.
Thanks so much, Juanita, for the fine short recap.
Wow! This novela has more than the usual number of scumbags, male and female. Ramona is chilling and has a heart the size of the Grinch in the cartoon my family used to love to watch at Christmas - the old one with Boris Karloff narrating (and before they showed it growing to the sound of the Whos singing Wahhoo Yores).
In addition to servicing the patrons at Babel, the girls Ramona has captive (did you catch that they were chained to their beds), the girls do the cleaning, I assume also at Babel.
Goyri is the best narco leader I've seen. He isn't really a psychopath in the way many of them are portrayed. He's a businessman. He does the enforcing he needs to do and doesn't seem to enjoy it all that much. And, he's completely bitter about not having a son.
What he said to Circe was unbelievable. I'll paraphrase: He said that she somehow poisoned her mother and that the mother developed cáncer de la matriz (uterine cancer) because of Circe having developed there. And that, if he'd known what kind of arpía she'd grow up to be, they'd have aborted her. Nice.
I've been worried about Eliseo since the beginning. It doesn't look good. Circe may also think killing Eliseo would bring Diego back to Alamos. I don't think she's really over him.
Deb, we're on the same page about Circe wanting Diego back in town. You posted while I was still editing mine.
Thank you for the mini recap Juanita. I think you got everything that happened
Could Mateo be greedy enough to actually sell his own grand daughter? Is Porfirio aware of his father's side hustle?
I have seen Alejandro Camacho in some of Televisa's telenovelas as well.
Anita, thanks for all the interesting information about the Televisa/Telemundo situation. I knew that they'd let some people go, but I didn't know who. And I literally gasped when you said Fernando Colunga was among them.
novelera, thanks very much for the paraphrase of Gavino's words to Circe. They were among the things that I failed to understand. I mean, I understood many of the words, but the key parts that made them all go together and make sense eluded me. Sigh. I knew it was nasty, but it took your paraphrase to make me realize just how nasty!
And thanks for reminding me that the girls were chained to their beds. I wasn't sure whether it was all of them or only some. Either way, not good....
deb, yes, I found your explanation of the ownership and running of Babel quite helpful, especially the bit about money-laundering. And I suspect you're right that the necklace is the "gift" Mateo gives to each girl he sells--including, perhaps, his wife.
1.) Castillo & Co., confront Jaime (who's the Governor of Quintana) at his residence & demands the arrest of former Mexican President BPN., Jaime refuses to give BPN up.
2.) Jaime ups the ante by mocking Castillo's relationship with Mayra (Castillo wants to know what happened to Mayra). We all KNOW Mayra is DEAD & buried in the middle of nowhere.
3.) BPN still having orgies with prostitutes & getting BJ's.
4.) Over at the Amuhada Ranch, the Casilas family & Co., plotting strategies on how to bring down El Capo. I also noticed there's problems lurking for Super Javi & Ritula as they got into heated argument.
5.) Melina & El Rojo start making out, but Ritula sneaks away to avoid getting detected until Ritula clears her throat to announce something else.
6.) Corina tries to sneak into the hospital room in Los Angeles, CA to kill Ojeda, who sneaks a gun & stops her.
7.) Over at DEA HQ in DF., Colon (IDIOT still has no clue that Corina is selling US Government secrets to Narco Drug-Lords, etc.,).
8.) Ambar, Casasola & Isturiz still being held prisoner by Tavares & his group of thugs.
9.) Berenice & Diana & Co., convince Mommy Amuhada to let Blue Eagle & the Casillas family (Casillas & Amuhada families are cousins) get revenge on El Capo.
10.) Mommy Amuhada gets flustered again & outfoxed. It seems like she's still determined to be the next Governor.
11.) Castillo talking to Colon & Navarro over the phone about plans to apprehend the disgraced former Mexican President (BPN).... until a group of motorcycle people throw a bomb under the vehicle...
Castillo manages to get out of the right passenger side of the vehicle before it explodes.
12.) BPN orders El Capo to whack the Female TV News Anchor.
Does this mean we might get Colunga in a Telemundo novela? Imagine me with toes and fingers crossed.
Novelera: Eduardo Santamarina is on "EL SENOR DE LOS CIELOS" & he needs to lose 200 lbs.
On Colunga: last time we saw him in any TV Novela was "PyP" 2 years ago on Univision.
