Mi marido tiene más familia Monday 10/1/18 Capítulo 14 Pancho and His Pervasive Positivity Save the Day

Julieta continues to talk and tries to backtrack saying what she really meant was that this situation could happen to anyone in Susana's own family, like her mother, her brother or Susana herself. We all make mistakes. Susana is not buying it. Julieta concludes that they are never going to ever agree anyway. Susana wants her to just go, give her statement, come back and get to work. That's it. There is nothing else to be said. Susana does offer her a lollipop. Julieta just turns and leaves in frustration.

Imelda is still laughing and enjoying the damage they did to Crisanta's bathing suits. Amalia is angry that they actually created Crisanta's new hit bathing suits when she took the scissors to them. They created the "Anchakinis". Imelda, now thinking about it, is not too happy that they have become responsible for her rival's success. Imelda wants to continue aggravating Crisanta until she is gone.

Eugenio sees Canuto just sitting in his truck and lost in thought in front of the bakery and goes to greet him. He had just come to get some bread for his family. Eugenio takes him inside.

Julieta gets a message from Robert on her phone. She asks him not to leave any more messages. She will talk to him when she gets home tonight. She leaves work in a huff to go make her statement.

Inside the bakery, Eugenio refers to how they were talking about his dad earlier in the morning. Well, he found an old family photo to show Canuto from when he was young. Eugenio explains those are his parents and all of his brothers together. Canuto gets emotional. Canuto explains his emotions come from thinking back on his own family and all of his own life that has slipped away. They talk about regrets, future plans and growing old. Eugenio snatches back the photo and points himself out.

Gabriel and Daniela are still arguing. He doesn't want a child for a toy. Daniela reminds Gabriel that having a child lasts your whole life. He knows. Daniela is not going to be ready for a child until they solve their problems. Gabriel has no idea what their "problems" are. She has the answer to that one: they simply do not have enough money. She wants them to just take it step by step. Gabriel feels strange, like he is empty; like something is missing. He doesn't want to be part of a boring couple. He doesn't want monotony to distance them. Daniela explains that marriage isn't all fun and monotony is a part of life, marriage and stability. Their marriage will never work if they do not find a happy medium. Gabriel still doesn't understand why she doesn't want to talk about children. Neither of them is all that young. Daniela just doesn't feel ready. Yes, she hopes to have a child and wants to be a mother someday. Their life and both of them have to be okay before that happens. They need time to be together as a married couple and for him to find a job that he really likes. Yes, she loves him. She has to go the bank and make a deposit so that they can pay Susana.

Axel is still talking to Clarisa. He reminds her again that it was just one night. Clarisa knows that she is intense but that makes her fun. Axel tries to make it clear that he is not looking for anything serious. She "says" she understands and that is just perfect. They kiss.

Robert and Tavo are talking to Dr. Vicente in Africa about Gabi's surgery via a video chat. Vicente doesn't see how it could not be a success. Robert and Tavo agree it has been rough getting the foundation up and running but the Michou y Mau Foundation gave them confidence Vicente says that they can count on his support and that of the Michio Mau Foundation (The Michou y Mau Foundation is an actual foundation in Mexico City that charges itself with saving the lives of young burn victims. They even have a Facebook Page). Vicente says he will see them for their next class. Tavo asks a pensive Robert what is wrong. Something with Julieta? No, Robert just realized that Vicente is his uncle by marriage.

Julieta goes to the public ministry to make her statement. She insists it was just an accident. She is asked very detailed questions. It is clear that she is stressed out and is yawning incessantly. When she leaves, she tells Hugo that he needs to make sure he has all of his papers in order before he goes in. Hugo is afraid he will lose his business. He is crying. She is sure they will find a solution. He goes in to give his statement.

Susana comes home and Sebas is moaning that she does not understand him. He was fighting again. So she is taking all of his games away. Sebas begins to defiantly whine. Crisanta backs her up. Susana wants to know why he is always looking for fights at school. Sebas doesn't see how his behavior should matter when he saw his mother fighting with Dave's mom at school. No, Susana says she wasn't fighting. When Sebas leaves the room, Susana asks for her mother's advice on what to do with Sebas. Crisanta says you have to be there everyday to raise a child to not repeat her mistakes.

Amalia and Imelda are out sitting in the park. Imelda still wants to do something about Crisanta. Amalia hopes it is not going to be something criminal. Imelda sees what they do more like "jokes" not real crimes.

Canuto is still at the bakery and the group now has grown to include Audifaz and Polita, too. Canuto says he cannot eat everything because he has diabetes. Eugenio tells him to take care of himself. Canuto tries to make light of it. Audifaz says he is just like Eugenio who doesn't want to go to his physical therapy. Canuto is grateful for their concern for his well being. Canuto gets to hold little Arquímides.

Amalia and Imelda are out sitting in the park. Imelda still wants to do something about Crisanta. Amalia hopes it is not going to be something criminal. Imelda says Amalia's job is to help her; so what is she moaning about? Imelda sees what they do more like "jokes" not real crimes.

Susana is in her car driving and is still thinking about what Susana said about some thing like Hugo's accident happening to her own family. She is clearly distracted. Julieta is going to pay for it.

Pancho is in La Burra with Blanca, Frida and his children. The kids are singing. They are all joking and talking. Suddenly, a car just appears out of nowhere in front of him and he steps on the brakes. Luckily he doesn't hit the car but it is awfully close. Susana is the driver of the other car. The occupants of La Burra were jostled around but nobody was hurt.

Julieta is back at work clearly overwrought. Casandra offers her a tranquilizer to calm down. Although, Julieta normally does not take medications, she decides to try it. She quickly falls asleep and has nightmares with multiple Susanas confronting her everywhere. Julieta wakes up but is clearly feeling the effects of the tranquilizer and is disoriented in her own office.

Pancho talks to Susana. She apologizes. She never meant to hit him but she was so distracted. He sees that. She says her insurance can take care of it. Pancho says that is not needed because nothing happened and anyway it was an accident. She was just thinking about work. She is appreciative of his attitude. Julio, Lupita and Frida have nothing good to say about Susana because she is Sebas' mother. Blanca and Temo tell them to knock it off. Pancho reminds Susana that they still have to schedule that cup of coffee. He has just the place in mind: this little bakery in the building where he lives. They have the best baked goods and hot chocolate in all of Oaxaca. Julio jumps into the driver's seat of La Burra and honks the "hee haw" horn to get his father's attention.

Helga is on task while Dave is on the phone with Sebas who has some really great ideas for Dave to use on the new nanny. Helga serves Dave fish and broccoli. Dave complains about there being so much food. She says it is nutritious. He also hasn't finished his homework. Helga proclaims no working while eating so she starts to remove his books and papers from the table. She grabs his pen which he has manipulated according to Sebas's directions and he squirts the ink in her face. Helga knows he squirted her on purpose and punishes Dave by making him stand holding two heavy books. Dave is crying and screaming for his father when he arrives. Robert is not happy seeing his son being punished. Helga, with an ink stained face, is summarily fired. Dave begs Robert that there be no more nannies.

Daniela thinks it is Gabriel covering her eyes as a surprise at work. She is not happy when she sees it is Axel. She wants to know what he is doing there. Axel is his insufferable self but says lots of people like him. That is hard for Daniela to believe. She doesn't like him but he thinks that could change. He offers to buy all of her work. Daniela thinks he is nuts. He only wants to have a little bit of her . . . work. She reminds him that she is married. He tells her he isn't there to be her Prince Charming or anything like that. She has had enough. She offers to give him a taste of her Córcega fists. He says he is there only to buy Mexican art and buys a piece of her work. He just smirks and laughs.

Eugenio is starting to talk about how hard it is to keep secrets. Audifaz adds that some secrets just beg to be told. Blanca, coming into the bakery, hears Canuto just about ready to tell Eugenio and Audifaz the truth. He starts saying he has to confess something to confess to them when Blanca shouts out "No!!!!". Everyone looks at her and asks her what is wrong. She says she saw . . . a cockroach. Their bakery cannot afford to have this kind of problem. Not a word about it to anybody.

Susana, in a much improved mood, comes to see Julieta in her office and tells her she is right. Accidents can happen to anyone. She is dropping the charges against her brother Hugo. She was just thinking about what Julieta said that it could happen to anyone in her own family. Julieta asks her what her condition is. No, there isn't any condition. Susana starts to tell her about the car . . . She then explains that she and Julieta have lots of projects to work on together and will be spending a lot of time together. Susana wants a truce with no more arguments. Julieta is still out of it due to the tranquilizer but shakes on it with Susana.

Robert serves Dave the same dinner he just saw: fish and broccoli. No, he cannot have hamburgers everyday. Robert will make him a little sauce to help the flavor of the broccoli. No, Robert will not be staying home to take care of him but his grandmother will care for him. Dave is happy. Dave wonders what his mother will think.

Two girls chase Gabriel down the street after seeing his sleepwalking video on Facebook. One gets a selfie with him. He says it isn't him online. He is not happy.

The announcement of there being a cockroach in the bakery has caused great concern. Everyone is searching high and low. Maybe Polita didn't clean well enough. Canuto is ready to leave and sneakily takes Eugenio's photo. Blanca takes Canuto aside. He knows there is no cockroach. She tells him that she knows who he really is and to please let Imelda take care of the situation and tell her sons in her own way and time. He is not happy to be involved in the lie. He finally nods in agreement.

At work, a re-energized Susana is having a meeting about making a changes. Julieta is still on the verge of falling asleep.Julieta manages to say that changes are good. Susana cares about all of them. Once a week, all of the employees will all have supper together. They are going to have team building experiences. She is going to call them "Active Breaks". They are doing this because they are a family!!! Julieta thinks that she really doesn't need more family.

Imelda has Amalia dressed up as pirate. According to Amalia, she looks like a mixture of Catalina Creel and a pirate.(Catalina Creel is the most evil and despicable novela villain ever IMHO from the novela "Cuna de lobos". Catalina Creel always wore an eye patch. Trivia: Diana Bracho--the actress who plays Blanca--played the innocent young protagonist--in "Cuna de lobos".) Crisanta says that is what Amalia gets for helping Crisanta the competition sell pirated goods. Amalia says Imelda made her to do it. That is right because Imelda is the captain. Amalia's job is to go out and give the performance of a lifetime so they can sink the competition and put their flag up on the shipwreck of Crisanta's business.

Back at home, Dave freaks out over Blanquita's stinky diaper. Robert just laughs. Blanca calls to let Robert know that Canuto was there again and he almost told his sons everything. What to do?

Pancho seems to be a major force for the good. I like him more with each episode.

How much longer until Imelda tells her sons the truth?

I could not believe Canuto--of all people-- being impatient that Imelda wanted to be the one to tell her sons the truth. he didn't like being involved in the lie???? Really??? what has he been doing to Crisanta and his second family all of these years????

Jarifa, thank you, great recap.

"Daniela thinks it is Gabriel covering her eyes as a surprise at work. She is not happy when she sees it is Axel." So not only is he a jerk, but he's a creep as well.

"She doesn't like him but he thinks that could change. He offers to buy all of her work." A really creepy creep :-)

Something is not right here. Axel seems decent enough with Canuto, can he really be this rotten with Dani and Gabriel?

Jarifa, I agree that Pancho does seem a force for good. He certainly had a positive effect on Susana, though arguably the near accident helped her see the light. But I think Pancho was the bigger factor. I want to see what history they had before this.

andy

Thank you for your recap Jarifa!

“Imelda sees what they do more like "jokes" not real crimes.”
Ugh! Felony is not a joke. #losingmorerespect”

Wow...loved your recap this morning Jarifa. "Pervasive positivity" was a hoot and certainly describes Pancho to a T. And if it lightens up Susana, it's a miracle drug.

Also really appreciated the cultural info on the Michou y Mau Foundation and Cuña de Lobos. Wonder if Netflix has the latter on its roster.

The other phrase that really struck me was: "Julieta is back at work clearly overwrought."

From what I've seen of this show so far, that sentence could be included in EVERY recap! The woman is overwrought on steroids.

Enjoyed the recap immensely. Today's a good day because I no longer have to wear the eyepatch at night (and rip the tape off my cheek in the morning) and no longer have to use one set of the eye drops. Progress! Pervasive Positivity!!!!

Jarifa, simply wonderful.

“Pancho and His Pervasive Positivity” and “Helga, with an ink stained face, is summarily fired” were among many favorites.

Jarifa, thank you for the information on the “ Michou y Mau Foundation”. What a great cause. “Trivia: Diana Bracho--the actress who plays Blanca--played the innocent young protagonist--in "Cuna de lobos". Very interesting! I always learn the most fascinating things from you.

“Imelda wants to continue aggravating Crisanta until she is gone”. I get the feeling Crisanta isn’t the least bit peeved, let alone aggravated. She seems to be enjoying her rival’s failed attempts at mischief.

“Clarisa knows that she is intense but that makes her fun”. Hmmm. Intensity is not what I believe constitutes fun. Lightheartedness and carefree might be better but Axel is such an ass, it is obvious he wants what he can’t have – the uninterested, unattainable Dani.” He only wants to have a little bit of her . . . work”. Eye roll…

"She doesn't like him but he thinks that could change. He offers to buy all of her work." A really creepy creep :-)You nailed it Andy!

For a moment, I wondered if Cassandra was trying to sabotage Julieta by giving her the tranquilizer. She seems to have conveniently inserted herself into several work situations where Susana thought she was doing Julieta’s job. I guess not but I didn’t like her giving Julieta the pill but disliked Julieta actually taking it more. Why is she so tired?? Hmmm.

"Active Breaks". Ack. Why do some managers feel the need for ridiculous team building exercises? Let us do our jobs without making us feel we need to bond and feel a closeness we don’t want. Or need. Rant over!

Polita moved like lightening at the mention of cockroach. Audi wasn’t far behind, was he? Quick thinking Blanca but the train has left the station and is roaring down the tracks. You can’t stop it.

Andy, yes, there is clearly an attraction between Pancho and Susana. Initially, I thought they were a very odd couple, but there is something a bit charming about Pancho so I look forward to seeing what happens.

And please. If Amalia can’t be anything but a caricature, please write her out of the story.

Judy, so happy you are free of your eyepatch at night and that you eyedrop amount is dwindling at least a bit. And also, your comment about Julieta, "The woman is overwrought on steroids" was spot on!

Jarifa, incredible. Loved every word - thank you!

Diana

This was such a fun capítulo.

Andy, ITA with your take on Axel. Jerk AND creep. Looking at Canuto and ever absent Vicente, maybe he was born that way. 😱

doris, these novela characters never seem to understand where a real crime starts or when to just call the police either.🤔

JudyB, “Cuna de lobos” is from 1986. I saw it on YouT*be about three years ago. One of my all time faves. Catalina Creel is evil incarnate. Glad to hear your eye is better everyday and you could drop the patch at night. 😊

Diana, I find it interesting that this novela has stayed so true to its burn awareness/treatment message. When I googled Michou y Mau I was pleasantly surprised that they were giving a shout-out to a real foundation. I won’t even get started on team building exercises. 😫
I think Pancho is the kind of guy who grows on you. He can be so boisterous and rough but then has this very gentle side.

Thank you, Jarifa. I always enjoy your recaps and when you give us background info, it makes them even better.

I have mixed feelings about Susana dropping the charges against Hugo. I just hope he learned something from this and is more careful when he bakes his cookies.

Diana, I thought Julieta taking that pill from Cassandra was irresponsible. I was really surprised that she did take it; she is usually more cautious.

JudyB, "The woman is overwrought on steroids." Love it! And I'm so glad you are progressing so well and having a good day.

Andy, I echo your sentiments about Axel. He does have some decency, but it seems it's only with men; he's deplorable with women.

Jarifa, thanks for the comment on team building exercises. I always think it's just me so nice to know I'm not alone.

My brother endured many plastic surgeries due to a burn so I am always interested in burn treatment centers and such.

RgvChick, I think Hugo has emotional issues that he needs help with. In the first installment, he was immature but here, he's emotionally traumatized! For that reason, I'm glad Susana dropped the charges. Hugo and his wife need to get out from Catalina's thumb. And control.

And of course your comment on Axel "he's depolorable with women" was beyond astute.

Diana

Diana - my first thought about Juli tired and yawning is that she might be pregnant. These are not symptoms within the telenovela rules, but .....

Diana, I have always disliked team building exercises. Fake and a waste of time.

doris, that is a good observation. Wasn’t Julieta tired with her Blanquita pregnancy in season one or was that on another novela?

RGV Chick, I so hope Hugo has learned something. Hugo is so immature and lacking in life experience as well as common sense. Caralina has never pushed him beyond being her bouncing baby boy but has had no trouble drowning Julieta in expectations and guilt. Go figure!

Thank you, jarifa, for yet another great recap.

Judyb..so glad that you are healing and sending you good vibes for continued , speedy, improvement .

Regarding the work team building stuff, Hub used to have to deal with a lot of that. Once , he came home with a phrase that drove me crazy... "I don't own this problem," I finally had to say, "Well, you might not own this problem, but you are paying rent on it." He was also encouraged to have standing meetings. Who thinks up these things??

Sleepy Julie might be pregnant. That is certainly a symptom during the first trimester when your body is adjusting to the new visitor sharing your space.
After seeing Susana paired with Fernando Colunga in two tekenovelas, I am having trouble thinking of her with this guy.I

P.s. I always love dropping by our kind and gentle patio as the world seems to be getting less so. 💋

Jarifa, totally agree Julieta is pregnant.

Loved "Caralina has never pushed him beyond being her bouncing baby boy but has had no trouble drowning Julieta in expectations and guilt". Sadly, beyond a mama's boy.

Diana

Susanlynn, our comments crossed.

I thought your response to hub was inspired.

I certainly wish I could say "I don't own this problem". On anything. Sigh...

Diana

I loved Susanlynn's quip too Diana. Wouldn't it be fun if she lived next door!? We could have a Patio neighborhood. It would be great.

Judyb and Diana, I would love that! I guess we will just have to settle on virtual lemonade on our virtual patio. Actually, I no longer get to see three of my best real life friends who taught in high school with me because one has been fighting stage four lung cancer for awhile, and the rest of us feel too guilty to continue our regular lunches out . Also, I am super busy now that by i am back teaching and still babysitting before and After school every weekday for two of our grandgirls. I expected things to slow down at this point...it hasn't !! Life.

Thanks, Jarifa. Terrific recap. “Pancho and His Pervasive Positivity” - love it.

Helga knows he squirted her on purpose and punishes Dave by making him stand holding two heavy books.

I have no kids and Helga's punishment is new to me. Is it considered okay to make a kid Dave's size and age stand holding heavy books? I am disturbed that Dave seems to be more okay telling lies now.

On Hugo and the cookies, he had no idea his mom had spilled some of her herbs in the cookie dough. But I guess from here on out, he should steer clear of using her kitchen even in emergencies.

Okay, now Axel is a complete jerk. Dani should've smacked the crap out of him.

Gees, I have to side with Crisanta. She's competing out in the open, while Imelda and Amalia are criminal.

Niecie, the nanny’s punishment was old school corporal punishment. She said something about that’s how they dealt with things back in her day and Robert corrected her saying it wasn’t that way now. That being said, I am not happy with the bad influence Sebas is having on Dave. Unfortunately, it seems Robert and Julieta have not had the time to seriously look at Sean’s and Dave׳s friendship since Julieta has already voiced her reservations about Sebas and his whole family. Not good.

Judy and Susanlynn, it seems we get busier the older we get, doesn't it? At least we have the luxury of "talking" here on this lovely blog with our little group.

Niecie, I AM old school and being forced to hold the books was a new one on me :). Back in my day, the nuns rapped our knuckles (none too gently), measured our skirts with a ruler (from the floor) and suspended us for wearing a pullover rather than button cardigan. Now this is all hearsay of course, I have no personal experience in such matters. (grumble, grumble).

For the record, I had some wonderful nuns too! However, I'm glad those things have gone by the wayside. Nothing should be done to a child to embarrass them. Ever. And you could tell Dave was truly upset.

Jarifa, I'm torn about Sebas. He has been such a good friend to Dave. But, he has a lot of misplaced anger (like mother, like son) and that also makes me uncomfortable. I'm hoping Dave will rub off on Sebas rather than the other way around. Trying to be optimistic. We will see.

Diana

Oh, and after the skirt measuring there was always a crumpled paper tossed on the floow which we were told to pick up. Bending over, we got a whack with the ruler on the behind. Forgot these important details!

Diana

Many interesting comments here today, as usual.

I, too, wonder if Julieta's sleepiness might be a first sign of pregnancy. Más familia :-)

Since it started rather suddenly, just recently, it might be. Otherwise I think that Robert and Julieta, a modern professional couple, he a doctor, she having had considerable problems with pregnancies before, would carefully plan and watch for pregnancy.

Diana "I think Hugo has emotional issues that he needs help with." You bet!
I have kind of enjoyed Hugo the Wus up until now, but it's getting too bad to be funny anymore. Poor Diana! (Hugo's wife Diana, not our Diana :) :)

Well, OK, after hearing about the nuns, maybe her, too :-)

Is this a new Clarisa? Coming on strong, not taking no for an answer, and putting a lip lock on a guy with full body contact might not work with swollen head Axel, but if she tries this with another one or two guys that business of being the girl with no boyfriend will definitely and quickly be past history. Of course, it would be better not to do this with a guy within the first five minutes of meeting him, or with random guys on the street. It would work, but the "catch" might not be what she was hoping for.

:-)

:-)

andy

Diana, Oh my, those nuns were off the chain! But, I can see them now pleased that Adolescent Diana turned out so well. :D

Niecie, OMG, too funny. I have to say I was a handful...a tiny bit of the time.

Andy, I sort of admire Clarisa's boldness. I just wish she had a different target. Maybe even some random guy? Axel treats everything like a big joke. Especially around Dani. I'd like to wipe that smirk right off his face. What is with this guy? I haven't a clue.

Diana
