I will do some sort of recap tonight, perhaps brief. I'm having dinner with an old friend from my backpacking days and won't see the episode until I get home from this dinner.
 

FALSA IDENTIDAD

This will be brief. My friend and I had a lot of catching up to do.

José has come to talk with Circe and offers for them to be business partners, him in the north and she in the south. But Circe rubs salt in his wounds saying Diego is fire, while he…not so much. He does tell her Diego’s address.

Meanwhile Diego, Chucho and Deivid do manage to get away from the Federales, but Deivid turns to shoot at them and is shot in the chest.

When Topo asks why José gave Circe Diego’s address, he says he wants her to hurt like he is hurt by her rejection.

Fernanda and Isabel are walking toward the restaurant where Fernanda works. Isa now knows that Paloma is a waitress. Paloma is as nasty as usual to Isa. But Isa tells her she has so much talent, she should be dancing.

Porfi drinks beer on his new landscaping job, and then doubles over with pain.

Diana gets in Disgusto’s face about his treatment of Chucho and also about taking all his ex-wife’s money and putting it in Marlene’s account. Later on, Disgusto says he’ll handle Diana from now on. Uh oh.

Mateo is visiting Gavino in prison and Gavino cooks up a plan to get contraband into the prison to make money. They will be bringing in food, cigarettes, condoms, and chocolates.

Porfi is being examined. Isa was called as his “wife”. He appears to have jaundice and a likely liver problem.

Chucho has a friend who is a medical student. He comes to treat Deivid. [I can tell Deivid is not the galán of the novela because he screams like a little girl because of the wound. Galanes never do this.]

The dancers are short because Isa has left and, as was obvious, Paloma returns.

Circe plans to cross the border into Arizona like immigrants, wearing clothes that are a color that won’t stand out.

Gabriela finds out about Deivid being shot. She is very bossy as usual, but simmers down a bit. I think these two have potential.

Fernanda runs into Marlene on the street. Disgusto is in his convertible and sees the whole thing.

Circe sends someone to the address where Diego lives. The person asks some neighbors who say a man named Emiliano lives there with his wife and children!

José comes to see Gavino, making nice. He tells Gavino about Circe and is shocked that G already knows. G tells José not to harm Circe.

Mateo tells Piochas about the prison contraband plan, saying he’s in charge of things outside the prison, and Piochas will be his right-hand man. Piochas doesn’t look a bit happy to be shunted aside again.

Chucho decides to stay in the gas stealing business. Diego tells Chucho he’s going to tell Isa the truth; he doesn’t want lies between them.

When Isa goes to the door, Amanda is looking for the passports. Diego is just about to tell Isa the truth when Circe walks right in.

Porfi always seems to have just enough money in his empty wallet, but I think while the other 2 guys were busy he drank all the beers.

kind of sketchy how the boys got away from an army of police while carrying Deivid, and got back to their truck with no one around.

the Falsa Identidad is kind of a chain around Isa's neck especially with Porfi telling everyone she is his wife and also Ricas is registered at school as Max, interesting that Amanda is still Amanda, I'm kind of missing why they just don't drop the fake identities and burn the passports.

strange how Joselito declared war on Circe's cartel and they let him walk out, interesting how Gavino is going to let him live till he gets out.

I didn't really get how being one dancer short had the girls bumping into each other, and I think Jim said 2 cartel guys will handle their own business.

so does Isa take over Paloma's job as waitress?

they really are coming up with some killer endings, Circe and her big red lips standing in the middle of Diego/Isa 's living room, wow, she does ominous pretty well.

novelera, this was a terrific recap. Yes, it was short, but it managed to cover everything very well. It even cleared up some things for me that I hadn't understood.

I was suprised that there were five police pursuing Diego et al. Do the police have so few crimes to deal with that they can allot five to this? Also, did they just come upon the three guys by chance, or did someone tip them off? I noticed that the one guy said to the other police, "shoot first and ask questions later" and "It doesn't matter whether they're dead or alive." Would he say this if they came upon them by accident? I don't know much about Mexico City police--perhaps that's the way they are?

Like deb, I was very surprised that the three guys were able to carry off the wounded Deivid AND escape from the police. Telenovela magic, I guess.

Two things struck me about the scene where Disgusto drives up and sees Fernanda and Marlene talking. One is that he makes no attempt to hide, even though it's unlikely that he'd want Fernanda to see him. The other is that Marlene catches sight of him and keeps turning her head to stare, but Fernanda never turns to see what Marlene is looking at. And when they part, I think Fernanda goes off with her back to Disgusto. How convenient.

I wonder whether Piochas will continue to remain loyal to Gavino, now that Gavino has passed over him again, this time in favor of Mateo.

deb, I just wanted to say that I thought your comments raised lots of very interesting points. I was especially struck by the boys managing to escape from the police while carrying the wounded Deivid (I too had wondered about that), the fact that José was able to declare war on Circe's cartel and be allowed to leave, and the dancers bumping into each other when they were one person short.

Juanita...I too thought it so not normal 4 Fernanda to follow Marlene's eyes. Or that law enforcement wldnt catch up with a wounded Daved and his posse. Also expected Chucho 2 backout after a near miss with violent and law enforcement. But this is TN land. The oddest things happen.

Thanks for the usual insightful comments, Juanita and deb. I think the cops in the black riot gear uniforms are federales which I did mention in the recap. Remember when Eliseo called in the federal police not knowing that his brother was one of the huachicoleros, and they chased them in those big black SUV's, shooting at Diego's truck? I think stealing gas is a federal crime, probably because gasoline is a state-owned system. From the internet:

Loved Diana giving Disgusto and Marlene what-for. “Butt out of my business, and I’ll butt out of yours.” But, “uh oh” is right. She doesn’t know how truly low and dirty Disgusto is.

Poor Piochas, always a bridesmaid.

Deb, I too have been wondering why Isa doesn’t quit the fake passport since Porfirio dropped the charges, knows where she is, and is no longer violent. Also, kind of weird Isa talking Paloma into returning to Babel with its narcos, prostitution, hostage taking, and beatdowns of Jim. But I guess there are no other dance jobs in DF.

In the beginning, Joselito had some smarts. But they must’ve left him in his obsession with Circe and his starting to use his own merc. He’s nuts to believe Gavino still trusts him.

I don't think Isa could go back to her real name, because she's supposed to be "Emiliano's" wife. And, while Isa is not in danger from Porfirio, Diego is still in danger from the Gaona cartel. Joselito knows where he is. But Gavino, and his loyal thug Piochas, still want Diego dead for having had sex with Silvia. In my mind they are still a matched set, passport wise, to continue to protect Diego.

I don't really understand why Joselito doesn't just tell the rest of the cartel about Diego living under an assumed name in DF.
 

Falsa Identidad - Capítulo 35 - Parte 1 de 3

Diego wants to know how Circe found Isabel and him. Circe isn't pleased that he asks how she found "us". Isabel recognizes Circe from Babel, where Circe offered work to her and the other dancers. Circe asks Diego whether he's going to explain things to Isabel or should she do so?

José meets with Gavino in prison. Gavino tells him not to fail him. The important thing is to weaken Circe.

Ricas comes upon Amanda as she's holding the manila envelope containing the passports. Ricas doesn't take note of this. He's more interested in an old LP record. He says it's for playing music, and holds the record up to his ear. (Arrgh--I feel so old!)

In a phone call, Porfirio tells Mateo that he knows not only about what Mateo did to his mother but also about all the girls he gets for the Gaona cartel. "You can say I'm stupid, a brute, but at least I'm not an assassin like you," says Porfirio. He continues: "What did you do to the girls? You have a granddaughter! I hope you rot!"

Marlene asks Disgusto whether the money he has put into her account is really his. Why are you questioning me? asks Disgusto. She talks about his avoiding Fernanda. He tells her that if he asks for a divorce now, Fernanda will know where he is. "And if Diego finds out I'm here in Mexico City, he'll kill me." Marlene tells him to stop exaggerating. Disgusto replies that Diego is a criminal. "Why do you think that his brother made him pass for dead?"

Gabriela asks Deivid why the police shot him? Deivid tells her that no, it wasn't by accident, but it had nothing to do with drugs. Gabriela gets a phone call from her brother letting her know that her sister (in Venezuela) has not appeared when she was expected. Gabriela is very upset.

Marlene calls Zoraida. She tells her she ran into Fernanda in Mexico City. Why is she here? Marlene asks Zoraida. Isn't her house in Alamos? Zoraida tells her that her husband defrauded her (la estafó), left her out on the street, and disappeared. Are you sure? asks Marlene. Zoraida tells her that she was present when Fernanda received the eviction order (la orden de desalojo), and she was also present when Fernanda called the bank and was told that there was nothing in her account because her husband had emptied it.

Circe is still at Diego's. Diego assures Isabel that "Circe and I have nothing. She was the past. I'm in love with you, Isabel. I want to make my life with you." He asks Circe to leave. Circe starts to leave, then grabs Diego and kisses him forcefully. She then leaves, gets into a car, and SCREAMS.

Isabel is still troubled by Diego's relationship with Circe. She says, "Gavino was after you because you slept with his wife. And at the same time, you were going with his daughter???" Yes, admits Diego. Circe was in love with me. But I was not in love with her. Diego and Isabel argue about who behaved worse, Diego or her. Finally, she tells him that they're even (estamos a mano). No, says Diego, we're not even, because there's something I didn't tell you. He lets her know about stealing gasoline. "Now we're even," he says.

Circe is very unhappy. She tells Ramona that "Camila" is Diego's woman, and she's not "Camila," she's really Isabel. "I forgave him everything, even Silvia [Gavino's wife]. And he left me!"

Piochas calls Mateo and tells him what's happening. Mateo tries to calm Piochas down, and urges him to be more patient. Piochas' job is to watch and deal with José, while Mateo will get the girls for Babel and also all the stuff that Gavino asked for that he can sell in prison. Piochas isn't pleased at this division of labor, and especially with again playing second fiddle.

José comes back gleeful from his meeting with Gavino's new lawyer. Apparently someone in the Colombian cartel informed José that Circe's cartel was delivering the mercancia that very day. José plans to thwart them. "We're going to crash the party" (Nos vamos a colar en esta fiesta), he announces.

Nuria comes into Ramona's office and tries to open the combination lock on the safe (she had seen Ramona do it, and thought she remembered how). Erick comes in as she's at the locked safe. She hurriedly closes the door to the cabinet containing the safe. She tells Erick that she was looking for makeup that she lent to Ramona but now needs for the show. Erick says she has to leave the office. She does so.

Gabriela is still talking to Deivid about her sister, who is the most important person in Gabriela's life. Deivid commiserates with her. The medical student who has been treating Deivid returns, and Gabriela leaves. Deivid asks her to let him know if she hears from her sister.

Isabel asks Diego whether he's asking her to accept a criminal (delincuente). He replies, "Accept me as I am, I won't fail you." Isabel tells him that she's afraid he could be arrested. "No, that won't happen," he assures her. (hah!)

Her suspicions aroused, Marlene takes out Disgusto's suitcase and opens it. It's empty, except for some papers--the document about the mortgage in his name. She remembers what Isabel had said to her, that she should remember how the two people most involved with Disgusto wound up: Eliseo is dead, and Fernanda is bankrupt.

There's a strange scene with Circe and Felipa. Felipa is uttering what sounds to me like witchcraft mumbo-jumbo from Sin Senos 3. I look to be sure I haven't accidentally switched to an old recording. No, I've zapped them all. Hmmm. Anyway, Circe then asks Felipa to ruin Diego's life. [Ah, true love!]

Disgusto gets a call from Brandon telling him he needs to meet him. Brandon tells him when and where. Marlene overhears Disgusto's end of the conversation. After he hangs up, Marlene comes into the room and tells Disgusto that Diana has said she won't be home for dinner. "I won't either," Disgusto informs her. I have to meet with the divorce lawyer over the details of the divorce. "I'm doing this for you," he tells her. She's heard enough of the conversation to know that he's lying.

Ricas is concerned that Diego and Isabel have quarreled and haven't made up. How do you know we haven't made up? Diego asks. "You're not kissing," replies Ricas. That's their cue to start. Ricas is pleased. He says Está más paique and Diego informs him that reconciliation is the most paique of all. Does anyone know what paique means? All my usual sources have failed me.

Anyway, Ricas then asks whether Diego and Isabel are going to get married. Isabel replies that they're not, because she's married to Porfirio. Diego prompts Ricas for the solution. Just as Ricas is saying Isabel should get a divorce, in walks Porfirio. He's surprised and not at all pleased to see Diego. After a certain amount of male posturing on both sides, Porfirio says he's here to see his children. Amanda appears wearing a backpack, and I (and probably others in Viewerville) suspect that she has the passports in the backpack. Isa even asks her why she has the backpack (just in case we haven't noticed). She says something about her homework, and then she, Ricas, and Porfirio leave.
 

Falsa Identidad - Cap. 35 - 3 de 3

Almost as soon as they're outside, Porfirio says he's left his phone in the house and asks Ricas to do him a favor and get it. Ricas runs off to do so, and Porfirio then asks Amanda whether she has the passports. Viewerville gives a sigh of surprise and relief when Amanda replies that she couldn't find them. Are you sure? he asks. Amanda tells him she thinks she overheard Isa tell Fernanda that Diego has them. Later, she tells her father that she wants to find a way to help her mother without hurting Diego. Porfirio isn't delighted to hear her say this.

While Amanda and Ricas are with their father, Diego and Isabel continue with their, um, "reconciliation" [rated PG-13, alas].

The scene shifts to Emiliano Guevara's aunt, who is having a phone conversation with the police. She insists that her nephew is not a criminal. The police tell her that Emiliano and Camila are being sought in connection with in a shooting at a hotel. She declares that that Emiliano Guevara is not her nephew.

Disgusto meets Brandon at the appointed place. Brandon is there with some of his men. Suddenly, José and his men appear. Guns are drawn, but more of José's men appear. José announces that this is his territory. The Colombians are loyal to him. It's time to collect debts. José wants to send a clear message to Circe. Piochas obliges with a clear message: he calmly shoots (and quite possibly kills) three of Brandon's men who were kneeling defenseless on the ground.

Diana comes to see Chucho. She's concerned that he hasn't answered any of her calls or texts. He says he left his phone in his room. Diana tells Chucho that Marlene can think what she wants; that won't change what she (Diana) feels for Chucho. Chucho asks whether she wants to be his novia. She says yes.

Gabriela is at Babel when she receives a phone call from her brother telling her that her sister had been kidnapped and then beaten because the kidnappers found the money that Gabriela had sent her. The sister was taken to the hospital. The doctors say that Gabriela needs to send money for cotton and other supplies they'll need to treat the sister, since they don't have any. Gabriela is devastated.

Marlene runs into Jim at Babel. Jim can see that something is the matter, and that she's been crying. She tries to deny it, but he tells her he knows her too well to be fooled. She then confesses, "I'm getting married, and I feel I don't know the man I've been in love with all my life."

After the reconciliation, Diego leaves the house. Circe is waiting there for him. He tries again to tell her that there's nothing between them now, it's over. As they're arguing, a car drives up. Both Diego and Circe are forced into the car, which then drives off. End of episode.

Wow! What an excellent recap, Juanita. You got it all.

I was suffering with some of the non-native Spanish speaker's confusion in the scene between Felipa and Circe. Something was said about ill wishing le. At that time I interpreted what Circe said as wanting Felipa to harm Isabel, make her sick with something, get her out of the way. But because I didn't hear the specific English her or him, your interpretation of Circe's desire to harm Diego could also be true.

Boy, there's just no obsession like telenovela obsession, is there? She keeps raving to Ramona and Felipa that Diego is MINE. I noticed that Ramona chimed in saying she always hated Isabel (for trying to save Lourdes).

I love the way this novela resolves things much more quickly than others I've seen. [Case in point: the seemingly weeks the cast stayed in that haunted pueblo with no resolution in Sin Senos.] Marlene doesn't spend 3 months fooled by Disgusto. That phone call with Zoraida was terrific!

I thought Joselito was crowing about destroying the cocaine that Circe was, I think, selling in Nayarit. [They sure do move around quickly in telenovelaland.] Maybe he'll still do that.

The actor playing Circe was excellent in this episode. Classic woman scorned.

Juanita--Thank you for your excellent coverage. I needed it. I binge watched two episodes of La Sultana and Amar a Muerte (talk about brujeria, this one is replete with it), before watching this episode of Falsa Identidad.

Like you, it was a sort of surprise that 1) Diego and Isa had a reconciliation at all, PG-13 or otherwise (or where would the story go, especially with that cliff-hanger ending) and 2) Amanda didn't give up the passports (or end of the two of them).

I hope Porfi holds his anger for his father long enough to finger him "con pruebas" for what he did with the girls he woos and sells. Where is Mateo going to get that many girls to fill Jose's order for more--raid a school?

I liked Porfi and Diego's confrontation. To Porfi's question as to why he was there, Diego retorted that he owns the house. I think Porfi's question was valid as it was made clear to him on an earlier visit that Diego was living elsewhere and the two were on the outs, but still it was cute. They nearly got into another scuffle with Porfi taunting Diego about attacking him in the back, like he did before, although they both know it was Porfi that did it.

Well, Porfi's days seem to be numbered. All his drinking probably has led to cirrhosis of the liver and I bet he won't be able to stop after he gets his diagnosis. This puts Isa in a dilemma--for her children's sake she will probably have to nurse him, but for Diego's sake it will put a strain on the relationship. I can't wait to find out whether Isa takes Diego's disappearance as abandonment or kidnapping.

Marlene is in a dilemma, too. She wants the sweet life she's had which she can't afford and can only have it if Disgusto continues to foot the bill. If she breaks it off, after what she learns, all she'll have is her wardrobe and her dancer's salary--muy poca cosa.

Muchas gracias, novelera and Anita, for your great comments. I'm about to leave for a dental appointment, but I wanted at least respond briefly before I left.

novelera, I totally failed to understand most of the mumbo-jumbo between Felipa and Circe. Part of the problem was surely the Spanish, but part of it is that I have no patience for that sort of thing. (It was one of many reasons I disliked Sin Senos 3.) My interpretation of Circe's request that Felipa ruin Diego, however, was based on Circe's actually mentioning Diego's name at the end of her remarks. Unless, of course, all the brujería did in what's left of my brain. :-)

The speed with which problems get resolved has long seemed to me to be a feature of Telemundo novelas, with SS3 being a major exception. It's one of several reasons I prefer Telemundo.

Anita, I can't imagine binge-watching several novelas and managing to keep the plots and characters straight. Heck, I often can't do that even without binge-watching!

Good point about the dilemma Isa will face about caring for Porfirio, and also how she will interpret Diego's sudden disappearance.

I'm off to see the Dentist :-(.

I'm holding off until the weekend to take a look at La Sultana. The problem is that I'm afraid I'll like it! I already feel like I spend too much time on the sofa watching one novela and lots of Golden State Warriors basketball (not to mention the World Series, which was thankfully short).

novelera--La Sultana is like a G-rated movie on steroids, appealing in a gauzy, dreamy, romantic way, but lots of palace intrigue and danger. At least they speak clearly and not with any regional Mexican accent or modern-day idioms (it takes place in 1600s). AND...it's nothing like basketball. I'm all in, but perhaps only to watch and enjoy and not to recap or comment.

and laughed when you mentioned Sin Senos, I was thinking la Diabla would have the perfect Day of the Dead costume if her new face has slid off.

strange call Porfi made to his dad who suspected he wanted money, nope, he just wanted to say that was the last time he would call.

why would he need money with that wallet he has, he pulled out his last bills to pay for three days for a room, then pulled out the last bills to buy beer for the guys, and now he is taking his kids out to dinner, maybe he got paid for his half day at work, when he is alone with the kids I wonder if he will make a run for it.

on the drugs, the Mexican's are the traffickers and the others are the suppliers, so Circe's cartel was hooking up with another of Gavino's suppliers when Jose got tipped and snuffed the deal, on the other hand the Colombians want to know why Circe hasn't got their merc across the border.

Venezuela sounds pretty bad.

did someone steal the door to Diego/Isa's house, people just appear in the living room now.

the english caps had Circe asking Felipe to make Isa sick, to find a way to get her away from Diego.

Thanks, Juanita. Fine job. On que paique, here’s what Yahoo! Respuestas says it means: “Que padre, que chido, que chevere, que bonito, que bueno, etc.”

Yay, Amanda is no dummy. She knows where those passports are but lied to her pop. Porfirio’s whole line about needing the passports to help Isa doesn’t make sense and my take is Amanda realizes this.

Brandon has grown on me. Glad he didn’t get shot.

So Diego did have a thing with Circe in the past? I thought he’d never touched her. Still doesn’t matter though. He’s made it clear since the first episode that he wasn’t (was no longer?) interested.

Gavino shows he's still large and in charge in the slammer, nearly strangling the thug who called him an old man.

Niecie, the first scene showed Diego and his crew stealing a bunch of gasoline, then outrunning some federales who were after them. After getting away safely, they showed Diego speaking with Circe on the phone, saying he had some meeting with, I think, gringos. It was clear from their conversation that they were lovers. Deivid teased him after the call: "What gringos?" And then Diego went to that warehouse to have sex with Silvia. So we never got to see them as an item, because Diego was on the run immediately because José spied on Diego and Silvia and the chase was on. Circe couldn't bring herself to shoot Diego when she'd told Gavino she'd do so.

I too am watching this, the actors and story are ok, but the costumes, sets, music, and look into the culture is all first class.

and in our story we see one of his heirs down the line becomes a young Sultan, after the death of his father, and we learn his first duty according to Ottoman law is to kill all male relatives who might inherit the throne, and then have a son as soon as possible to succeed him, (this solidifies his rule and deters others from killing him) but our guy spares his younger brother (from a different mother), which sets the stage for an internal power struggle.

there are also a couple of guys, descendants of Genghis Khan, who think they should be Sultan.

the Sultan, as a young guy, falls for a portrait of a young girl, Anastasia, who is found and brought to him as a present.

so how will this all shake out, one attempt has already been made to kill him.

deb, I loved your remark about La Diabla. Every day seemed to be Halloween (or perhaps el día de la muerte) in Sin Senos 3.

At times I've feared that Porfi would take the kids and run, but I don't think he has the brains to get away with this. Also, if he tried, he'd have to content with Ricas, who I suspect could outsmart him.

And thanks very much for mentioning what the English captions said. Actually, that works with what I heard. Which is to say, I really didn't understand a good part of the conversation, but near the end, Circe said something about ruining el camino de Diego, which I took quite broadly to mean his life, but I can see how it could work with what you've said.

Niecie, MANY thanks for the info about paique! As for Gavino in prison, I'm really embarrassed. I certainly meant to include that episode in my recap. I certainly had it in my notes. It was only when I read your comment that I realized I'd left it out! Arrgh...I think that's what happens when I do these recaps so late at night. At least, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it! :-) Seriously, though, I was astonished that Gavino was able to get the better of the guy. Deb...thx for the history lesson. It was my plan to trsearch the story line this weekend. I believe this show is the third in a series following this empire. I don’t recall U.S. networks carrying the other seasons. I’m drawn to this because the adult sultana will be played by the actress who played Fatmagul in QTCF. She did a great job...so I will try to hang with the show to see what she does with the part.

The intrigue and loyalty lines are going to be difficult to keep up. I do hope others join in watching and commenting...even if we don’t get full recaps.

the Wiki page says this "is a Turkish television sequel to the 2011 Turkish television period drama Muhteşem Yüzyıl."

and it posts this one for 2 seasons, we are in season 1.

also the "Plot" reads like a recap, I only read along to where we are at as I imagine it covers the whole story. I found this very helpful to connect the dots.

A few bullets on Wednesday's episode.

- Diego agrees to help Circe with her mules' passage to deliver the merc. They're all in the back of a box truck moving north. Diego looks worried to me, and he should be. Circe's got stars in her eyes.

- Disgusto agrees to become a rat for Joselito and inform on Circe. He is scared __*less after seeing Brandon get shot in the head, after the other three executions of Circe's cartel. Brandon had tried to bargain with Joselito for his life.

- The doctor meets with Porfirio and Camila to tell them Porf has cirrhosis of the liver. Porf is relieved that it isn't cancer, but the doctor let's him know this is very serious (tells him 30 percent don't survive).

- Inexplicably, Ramona visits Babel. She and the bartender enjoy a chat, that turns into getting it on in a private room. The wad of cash Ramona flashed earlier in making change seems to have provoked the bartender's ardor.

- Marlene gets sympathy from Jim on her novio problems, but she doesn't tell him exactly what her skunk novio has done.

- Dievid puts Chucho up to give Gabriela money for his sister. Gabriela sees through this -- since when can Chucho afford to gift her cash when he's supporting his family back home? -- and goes straight to see a still laid-up Dievid. Dievid gets startled and drops his towel, to Gabriela's embarrassment. She agrees to keep his gift.

Am I the only one who never noticed Joselito's gold tooth until last night?

To continue with what else may have occurred--OR--what caught my eye.

Disgusto doesn't like the way Marlene cooked his eggs. She's not looking at him and he demands he look at her. She retorts that she doesn't need to be looking at him to hear him. Then she starts in with her own complaint about how he left Fernanda without two pennies to rub together. She says she found the papers in his name mortgaging the house--so it is true, she challenges. He can only be angry that she went through his things.

Somehow, Disgusto convinces Jose he's on his side and tweaks him with the information that Circe and Diego are together moving "the stuff."

Diego tells Circe in the truck that this is a one-time thing and after this they are really history. She needs to get lost.

Fernanda and Isa have a really wonderful "mother-daughter" talk. Isa is very appreciative of how much she is doing for their little family, cooking, minding the children, working, etc. Fer notes if only they could see her now. She also admits that she realizes Disgusto only married her for her money.

If I think of anything more, I'll add it later.

Oh, the bartender's ardor *was* inflamed by the cash. He gives her a story about his mother being sick and needing medicine for an amount he does not have. At first he tells her he'll borrow it from a buddy. Ramona insists on giving him the Mexican 2K, saying, truthfully, that one should pay for that much gratification.

I think that right after Circe and Diego are let go he tries to persuade her to leave the life she's chosen, but she says she has to prove to her father that she's worthy of his admiration.

No, Niecie, I didn't see the gold tooth---wasn't looking for it. Now I will have to. I remember the first time I ever saw Uriel del Toro in a tn. It was LQNPA and all of us were swooning over him and wishing he would get bigger parts. I saw him again in La Impostora, a truly awful Telemundo offering.

Anita, glad you brought up the eggs. Disgusto likes to criticize so he can make Marlene feel inadequate. He's working that class distinction.

Diego is doing the stupidest thing he's ever done in his life, but I do get that the Colombians threatened Circe's life and, after all he thinks she's done for him, in his mind he's doing the right, chivalrous thing to save her.

thanks guys, I can add a couple of things.

the Colombians peg Diego to be Circe's novio and threaten to kill him if their merc isn't delivered.

Fer insists that she must find and see Disgusto to get closure, Isa doesn't spill he is in town.

Felipe's cards foretell something very bad is going to happen, Ramona is regretting coming along, Digusto has told Joselito the merc is on the move in a box truck to the border, the half ton of merc made his eyes sparkle.

I don't have much to add. I was a bit surprised at tough-guy Brandon pleading for his life. Guess he's more human (or WAS) than the image he tried to project.

Amanda gets on Isa's case ("my father is all alone, who's going to take care of him? you have to take care of him") even before they have the doctor's report about Porfi.

One person who apparently ISN'T going to do anything to help Porfirio is Porfirio. His response to his illness is to start chugging a bottle of booze. He also seems to start having a chat with God. He's not praying, he's just complaining that he's become a new and better man and so WHY NOW does he get slapped with this nasty illness. I guess I should be more sympathetic, but....

The Colombian drug lord tells Circe that she needs to deliver the half ton of coke by tomorrow or else. She tells him she needs more time. He slaps her. Diego is enraged at his slapping a woman. So the more Circe tries to tell the drug lord that Diego has nothing to do with the operation, the more convinced the Colombian is that the two of them are an item. He tells her that if she doesn't deliver the drugs when he says, she and "Romeo" are history.

Just about all the dancers offer Gabriela money to help her sister in Venezuela. (Possibly not Nuria, who has no money, having spent whatever she had on her "vitamins.")

In the back of the truck Circe asked Diego if Isa knew he was "with her" and/or "doing this". Diego didn't reply, but I predict a bad time ahead for our two protagonists. It's almost a telenovela rule that the two have to be separated for some reason: suspected infidelity; galán drugged by the antagonist woman and convinced he impregnated her; female kidnapped by the male antagonist and locked up in a cellar for a while, etc.

I noticed the gold tooth from the very first. Nice touch. You don't really see it until he gives a wide smile of triumph.

Yep, Amanda the brat wants her mother nursing the guy who beat her up regularly and even caused her to lose a pregnancy.

I can hardly wait to see the next scene with Disgusto and Marlene. She really laid into him. But it's probably too soon, and he'll lie his way out of it.

Porfi really is pretty dumb. I thought everyone had heard of cirrhosis.

I also loved the scene with Isa and Fernanda. As a mother-in-law myself to a daughter-in-law I always appreciate these scenes, as I have a good relationship myself with my DIL.

I also enjoyed the Jim and Marlene scene. He is a true friend to her and may be a possible future novio. I'm leaning more toward Gabriela and Deivid than Marlene and Deivid.

novelera--Porfi *is* pretty dumb, but he has probably been in an alcoholic fog since his career tanked years ago and doesn't or didn't listen to or read medical news. I fault the doctor in this scene, because he didn't tell him that drinking alcohol contributed mightily to the problem with his liver--and never asking him about his liquid habits. But ni modo, at least we know he won't be kidnapping the kids anytime soon.

Like novelera, I noticed José's gold tooth right away. I was a bit bothered by it, since I was used to seeing (and swooning over) Uriel del Toro as Andrés in Al otro lado del muro, and I don't recall ever seeing a gold tooth then. Am I right in assuming that the gold tooth is a temporary feature specific to José in Falsa identidad? Or was I so taken with Andrés that I simply never noticed a gold tooth?
