Mi Marido Tiene Más Familia, Capítulo 56, Tuesday November 27, 2018; Fernando decides he wants to take custody of David

Julieta sees Blanca go by in a black SUV with Blanca waving and saying “I love you.”

The lady driving the SUV says she will take Blanca over to the place where the Reality show is being recorded.

At the reality show, it turns out that Daniela is just acting as directed for the show.  The crew and other participants give them a big applause.

Catalina has an appointment with Tavo. As they finish up, he shakes her hand. Something tells me she is developing a crush on him. After she leaves, Pancho comes in to see Tavo. He sits on the couch, but then asks if he should lie down. Tavo tells him it is not necessary. So Pancho says he will get down to business and be very direct. He says, “My son confessed to me that he is gay.” They have a conversation regarding Temo being gay and how Julio does not accept it. Tavo tells him that family support is needed, or else his son might leave home.

At school, Ari and Temo are discussing the situation about Temo’s admitting he is gay. Temo whispers to Ari that Julio isn’t accepting of his gayness. Ari says that he will give him his full support. But the other boys overhear what they are talking about. A fistfight ensues with Ari throwing the first punch. The boys gather around and pretty soon Hugo comes to break up the fight. The other boy whom Ari was fighting tells Hugo that Ari and Temo are “novios”. Hugo takes them both to the office.

Blanca gets to the outside door of the reality show and starts shouting for Daniela. She is crying and Daniela wants to see her too. But this becomes part of the show too and a man in a suit comes out to talk to Blanca. Imelda is watching this live on her computer. Blanca starts calling for Daniela again. Dani can hear her and she begs to go out there, but the producers tell her no, because she signed a contract. Then the female producer goes outside to deal with Blanca and assures her that Daniela is alive and well, in fact perfect. She lets Blanca know that there is a camera and she is being recorded and broadcasted. Blanca tells her that she will not leave and will sit on that bench until her daughter comes out. The producer says she will have a long wait of what will turn out to be several weeks.

Robert and Fernando have dinner with David while Julieta is still out. But, she does arrive and as she sees them together she says, “What is the meaning of all this?” So Robert tells her, “Honey, I think we need to go to the kitchen to talk.” They leave David and Fernando at the dining room table eating together. As Robert and Julieta talk in the kitchen, Julieta is not pleased with the situation of Fernando being at their house. Robert explains that he thought this was the best solution so that he could keep an eye on Fernando. Julieta demands why he didn’t at least call her. But he explains that he really did try, she was just out of range. Julieta tells Robert that whatever happens she will hold him responsible for what happens with Fernando.

Back at the dinner table, Fernando tells Robert and Julieta that he does not want them to think badly of him. He just wants to have a relationship with his son and spend a little time with him. David agrees and wants to take Fernando outside to play some games with him. But Robert and Julieta watch from the window what is happening outside with David and Fernando.

As they watch, Julieta tells Robert about what happened with Blanca—she thought that Dani was in danger. She also explains that when she was trying to call someone about the tire, that Blanca took off on her and went with an unknown woman in another vehicle. Julieta says she seems like Blanca was fine. David seems to be enjoying himself with Fernando. Fernando accidently knocks down the “building” they were making and he apologizes. But David runs to give him a big hug. Robert and Julieta just cringe in the background. The two continue to play and be affectionate toward one another. Fernando tells David that he loves him.

Audifáz and Polita start to discuss his participation in his new church, but then his phone rings and it’s the school. He has to go to the school because he was informed that Ari was in a fight. Polita tells him, “Go, go, and tell me and let me know what happened!” So Audi runs off to the school.

Outside the reality show premises, that lady who gave Blanca a ride comes to find out what happened. Robert calls Blanca and she tells him that she came to see Dani but they won’t let her see Dani, so she is coming back. Robert offers to go pick her up. [The distance between Oaxaca and Mexico City is about the same as the distance between Los Angeles and Phoenix. It is not a quick trip across town. It is nearly a six hour drive.] Blanca says she is going to come back with the lady who brought her. The lady hands her a bottled water and off they go.

After ending his call with Blanca, Roberts phone rings. It’s Tavo with some good news: They received a very large donation for the foundation. The donor is Pancho Lopez. Both Julieta and Robert were unaware that he had this kind of money. Julieta tells him that this may be what saves the foundation and Robert should not let his pride get the best of him.

At school, Diana scolds all involved with the fight and says that more behavior like this will mean expulsion. Hugo says that Ari was trying to defend a case of discrimination. Julio and Lupe are outside the door listening. Julio says he was afraid something like this would happen because Temo is gay. Inside the office, Temo says that Ari was defending him because he is gay. Pancho concurs that his son is gay. Audi says that he finds homosexuality to be unnatural and doesn’t like Ari being friends with Temo. Audi adds that homosexuality goes against natural law. Diana asks him to be quiet and to show respect for each other. Pancho tells Audi to respect his son. But Audi tells Pancho that he need to be more caution. He adds that being a homosexual is an aberration.

Axel comes to see Susana at work to talk. She is very glad that he thought to talk to her and he wants to talk to her about love. She asks him what his opinion is about her becoming a couple with someone else. Axel looks shocked. But Axel tells her she is a grown-up and knows the consequences involved. Then Susana asks Axel about who he is interested in. Was it the young lady she saw him with at the hospital? But he says, “Wait, hold on a minute here. Is the man you are talking about Pancho Lopez?” Susana affirms that it is Pancho, while Axel looks at her disbelievingly. He gets up and says, “Pancho Lopez is not for you. The both of you are too different and come from two different worlds. Further, if you take up a relationship with him, you are going to ruin the relationship with your family and everyone.” She tells him that she is certain about her feelings for Pancho and his for her and yes, he is much more than a friend. He then asks, “How in the world did you ever notice Pancho? He isn’t anything like my father. And you know what? I just don’t agree with any of this. He walks out and leaves the room with Susana going after him wanting to continue the conversation, but Axel is angry and not interested in talking anymore. Such snobbery about Pancho! [I wonder if it would make any difference if they knew he had money?]

At the school auditorium, Iker has Linda act out a scene with him. He looks smitten with her.  As they end their scene, Frida says they look like a good couple.

Blanca has fallen asleep in this woman’s SUV. [Obviously the water was spiked with a drug.] She checks Blanca to make sure she is truly out. Then she makes a phone call to someone and says they are on their way.

Back at the Cooper’s home, Fernando gets ready to leave. He thanks them for allowing them to spend time with David. Then he drops a bomb on them. He is going to file for his paternity and fight for custody of David. He is going to find a lawyer so that David can come live with him. After he leaves, Julieta and Robert start arguing about the Fernando problem.

Blanca is asleep at this house where this woman has brought her. She (this woman) is in cahoots with some other men who want to make a thief out of Blanca. As Blanca wakes up, she wants to know where she is. But she thinks that the camera she sees is part of the reality show that Dani is on. These guys go along with Blanca’s misperception of what his really going on. Then mention something about stealing and Blanca thinks to herself, “Who do they think I am?”

Imelda calls Robert on Eugenio’s phone. He’s right outside waiting for this woman who has come to look at his car. Seems she doesn’t want the car. She said it looked better in the pictures.

More on the reality show, they practice on how to take care of babies.

Julieta talks to the lawyer about Fernando. He does not have good news for her. Since Fernando is David’s biological father, he has every right to fight for custody. So they have to come in with a strong defense that Fernando will never be able to provide a good life for David.

That evening, Robert asks Pancho if he knows anything about Blanca, but he doesn’t. Pancho tells Robert that Temo is gay and wants to know if they knew and they admit they did. He complains about Audi, but Julieta tells him to forget it and just be supportive of his own son. Then Robert mentions that he saw a big donation came from him but he cannot accept it. [Why the heck not???] Pancho says he did it out of his heart because he knows that the children need the care. Then Julieta tells Pancho about the “connection” between David and Lupe. Pancho doesn’t take too kindly to the implication that his daughter is chasing after David. They are just kids, after all.

Amalia arrives at the liposuction clinic for her appointment.

Julieta and Robert go inside the Córsega apartment to decide what to do about what happened to Blanca. Then Tulio comes stumbling in drunk. Audifás goes on a rant about what is right and wrong seemingly to quote scripture. [But I didn’t hear any real scripture quotes.] He criticizes Tulio’s drunkenness and Temo’s homosexuality. He yells that Temo is a bad influence on Ari. Then Ari stands up and says, “Enough! I’m not going to let you talk that way about Temo.” Audi responds, “Why not? That boy is a sinner and he is going to contaminate you! I prohibit you from associating with him any longer.” Then Ari scolds him for hating everyone who is different. He ends with, “I am gay!”

Cynthia Thank you for the detailed recap.

Only one comment. Given Audifaz’s denunciations, including his comments on Temo and Ari’s friendship, it could be that Ari stated his “I am also gay” as a riposte to Audifaz and that he really is not gay. Because if he is, then Ari will have to explain to Temo why he told hm that he wasn’t (e.g. well you’re not my type or you’re too young for me.). I hope that Ari can resolve this.

Cynthia, thank you for the excellent recap and perfect selection of screen cap. The director at the school play is Iker.

Cynthia, you are so right to wonder what Axel’s reaction would be if he knew Pancho was wealthier than he probably will ever be. That being said I was disappointed that Susana wasn’t more cut and dried about Pancho. She could have informed Axel that she was going out with Pancho but never should have asked for his opinion. Not smart on her part to try to act like his friend. She is his mother. I was wondering, too, about how they made Oaxaca and Mexico City seem like they were so close geographically. Beanie time.

Anon, ITA. I took Ari’s declaration to be in solidarity with Temo and in rebellion against Audifaz and not the truth.

Blanca and the three thieves was the funniest. So now we have a clue to who the other woman on the side of the road was. I wonder how Blanca will get out of that one but I suspect we have more laughs coming.

As for Julieta, Robert and Fernando, I felt sorry for all of them. What a hellish situation! Julieta seems to be blaming Robert but she needs to realize that Fernando was going to pursue custody no matter what either of them did. This is a situation over which they have no control. Fernando seems like a good man and at least he was honest about his intentions. Since Yela is such a liar, I think Robert and Julieta should ask for a DNA test just to be sure Fernando really is Dave’s father.

Cannot wait for tonight.

Excellent Cynthia. Loved “Audifás goes on a rant about what is right and wrong seemingly to quote scripture. [But I didn’t hear any real scripture quotes.]”

"Julieta tells Robert that whatever happens she will hold him responsible for what happens with Fernando". Ahh Julieta…the call of the blood was evident with Fernando and Dave. I expected little fluttering hearts to appear on the screen momentarily. Robert might have speeded up the process but the outcome was inevitable. Julie must not let this resentment fester. I sincerely doubt Fernando realizes how difficult it is to raise a child. How will he support them?

“Since Yela is such a liar, I think Robert and Julieta should ask for a DNA test just to be sure Fernando really is Dave’s father”. Oh Jarifa, that never crossed my mind! You are so insightful.

“Polita tells him, “Go, go, and tell me and let me know what happened!” Umm, any reason you didn’t go too Poli?? He’s your son too…

“Further, if you take up a relationship with him, you are going to ruin the relationship with your family and everyone”. Shut. Up. Axel. Blech. Your comment that Susana “… could have informed Axel that she was going out with Pancho but never should have asked for his opinion” was perfect Jarifa.

I am not worried about Blanca - I think she can take care of herself. The thieves seem more like the three Stooges :)

What a tangled web Robert and Julieta are in. And yes, if Robert refuses the money for the Foundation from Pancho, I will be surprised. And beyond disappointed.

Cynthia, this was great. Thank you!

Diana

Yikes. Just reading this is stressful. So many issues going so dramatically wrong. Thanks for taking one for the team Cynthia and providing such a comprehensive recap of a very troubling episode. Hope the turmoil gets resolved soon.

Cynthia: Fernando is an uppity jackass!

Great comments everyone!

I am all for doing a DNA test to find out if Fernando truly is the biological father of David. I’m putting my money on “NEGATIVE.”

Jarifa: Thank you! My brain went blank on “IKER.” I’ll remember it now, as it reminds me of IKEA. I’ll think of IKEA, then drop the A and replace with R.

Jarifa and Diana: I so agree that Susana should never have used Axel as a friend and told him about her feelings for Pancho. This just was not the time. She should have just sat there and listened to him without injecting her own personal stuff regarding Pancho into the conversation.

I am not sure how I should take Ari’s announcement that he is gay when he told Temo in an earlier episode that he wasn’t gay and recoiled at his coming close to him romantically. Then he also told Tavo in an counseling session that he did not feel the same way about Temo. But I never saw that he actually told Tavo that he wasn’t gay.

Thank you Cynthia! Great recap and your selection for a screenshot is always spot on!

Audifaz has hit my last nerve, he can just go stuff his head in the sand.

Axel's reaction to Susana's revelation was to be expected. Once a jerk, always a jerk!

Diana, I'm not worried about Blanca either. She has a way of getting herself out of trouble...without even knowing! Just to add to that storyline, the three stooges were initially looking for the other woman who was dressed like Blanca. That woman is supposedly a well-known criminal and the three stooges were looking for her so that she could give them tips on how to steal money. Three stooges indeed, Diana!!

Cynthia, I concur with Anon regarding Ari...he's angry with his father's reaction about Temo and made the statement to retaliate against Audi and support Temo.

Ahhh Rgv Chick, thank you! I was completely lost in the scene with Blanca and the 3 circus monkeys (no disrespect to monkeys anywhere).

So they thought Blanca was a criminal! Now it all makes sensse. I didn't get the videotaping at all and they seemed to indiate they weren't going to hurt her and seemed rather respectful.

Audi is reprehensible.

I agree Ari made the statement out of anger and frustration. If he were gay, think he'd have told someone by now. Probably Robert...

Diana

An "I am Spartacus!" moment for Ari? Maybe. We'll see.

Diana Bracho as Blanca is such a treasure! I think she is perfection in this role and her facial expressions often have me cracking up. Even the way she walks is great. I'm sure she will be a great master criminal :-)

I don't understand how Axel and Sebas have become such brats. Ok, their mother has been distant, but that's not the end of the world. They have had a lot of advantages in life, they have had great grandparents, and their mother has only been busy and distant, not abusive or unloving.

At least Sebas has some redeeming qualities, Axel really none.

I'm looking forward to the next episode.

andy

Andy I agree with your perceptions of Axel and Sebas. They have never been abused and even though Susana was working too many hours and busy being a career woman, they have never been deprived of love. They had loving grandparents around for them all the time. Normally, children make excuses for their parents not being around. I once knew a young gal who was 19 years old who lived most of her life in foster care. Her mother was always all strung out on drugs, but yet, she still loved her mother fiercely. She would complain about her mother's irresponsibility, but was quite protective of her. And this girl had been very neglected!

Axel telling Susie about pursuing Pancho romantically is going to ruin the family? Pot calls the kettle black! This is the same guy pursuing a blood relative romantically. And that cousins relationship really would rift the family further.

Fernando deserves custody of his child, if he can prove that Dave would be better off with him. Especially if Dave will be happier. Sorry Julie. Also, she was willing to use Fernando's conviction against him in the custody suit. What a twit, knowing that she knows the truth.

Rob and Julie's inability to keep their finances afloat is probably going to sink them in this case quite a bit. Especially cause they keep lending Hugo money, and she owes tons on the extra silk, the foundation is sinking, the mortgage is dragging them down the hole, etc.

Andy, I sure agree about Diana Bracho. I am so enjoying her comedic talent. As a matter of fact, this road trip subplot is one of my favorites so far.

Cynthia, thank you for doing this recap and thanks for your insights about neglected children! It's a shame that not all kids get the love and attention that they need, but it can be a cruel world sometimes. And yet many people come through just fine anyway.

Jarifa, I'm also enjoying the road trip. Blanca driving toward CDMX, breaking down, and then hitchhiking with an extremely accommodating woman. What could possibly go wrong?

:-)

andy

Andy, I cannot wait to see more of Blanca's adventure tonight.

Yes, Blanca's antics are so funny! It seems like she really does think this is part of the reality show.

Thank you for your recap, Cynthia, and the red editorial comments!

Jarifa – good suggestion about getting a DNA test to confirm Fernando’s paternity! The only happy ending for this is that they do so and learn Yela lied about that, too. Though it would NOT be happy for Dave & Fernando, since they are bonding nicely.

Audifaz = empty barrels make the most noise.

I gleefully agree with all the previous comments, so have nothing else to add except this:
The only real thing about “reality” TV is that the participants are really not actors in their personal lives. I do not waste my time watching so-called reality TV, and instead invest my time in telenovelas. Pot = black! LOL!!!

And Blanca thinking she is still on "reality" TV at the criminals' den is a hoot.
