Mi marido tiene más familia Wednesday 12/5/18 Capítulo 62 The End of an Era--OR--"Glued and Feathered"

Catalina is with Tavo talking about how she wants to be the mother that Julieta needs.  As she finishes, Tavo informs her that he can no longer be her therapist.  Catalina asks if she did something wrong. No, quite the contrary. She has given him a lot of hope. He can recommend another very good psychologist. Catalina assume that they will not be seeing each other again but Tavo has other plans. He wants to keep seeing her but as a friend.  Catalina smiles. Tavo explains that he had to let her go as a patient because he has some affection for her. She thanks him for being so professional. She really likes the idea of being friends.

Polita informs Audifaz that she will be supporting Ari even if it means facing off against him. For the umpteenth time, Polita tells Audifaz that it has nothing to do with right or wrong. It is all about supporting his son.  He starts lecturing her. She says he treats her like an employee not  like his  wife. He wants her to come to the Christian center with him so she won't stray from the path like her son did.  Polita thinks it would be better if he were to change back to being the loving and caring Audifaz she fell in love with. She asks what the purpose of is learning so many wonderful things in his life if he is never going to use them. There is no response.

Pancho and Susana arrive at her home in his Burra "Bimbo mobile" truck. Pancho makes it clear that he and his Burra are always at her service. She thanks him for the necklace, for today and for everything.  She feels like a new woman. He gets a phone call from Imelda. She wants him to vacate the apartment by this weekend. He puts the call on speaker. Imelda continues that she doesn't want Ari to be even more confused. He asks if that so and so Audifaz convinced her. She repeats that they have until the end of the weekend to find a new place, pack up and move. Pancho is upset. He doesn't want to leave the building. He and his children are comfortable there. It is discrimination. Susana agrees

At their supper, Dave wants to tell Robert and Julieta that he loves them and appreciates everything that they have done for him. Even though he won't be living with them, they will always be the four fantastic "Oppas" and they can always see each other.  The door bell rings. It is Blanca and Eugenio who have come to see their grandchildren.  They have a very special gift for Dave.  It is a red sweater. Robert thinks back to his red sweater that he was wearing when he went missing. Dave puts it on and parades around.  He thinks it is just great. It fits and doesn't scratch and he can remember them when he wears it.  Blanca explains that Robert had one just like it.  She wants him to  know that even though he may be living with his bio-dad, the red sweater will be a reminder that his family is always waiting for him and always full of love for him.

Back at "Reality de amor", Gabriel is anxious to see Dani so the other contestants can be declared the winners.  The producers inform Dani that Gabriel is ready to leave but it has to be a team decision. What is Dani's decision?  Linda and Frida watch in anticipation. Dani decides that she and Gabriel will be staying. Gabriel is disappointed.

At her house, Susana gives her sons gifts from a magical place. The are excited and appreciative. Axel even kisses her.  They are eating supper at home with Crisanta who ends up setting a place for Canuto out of habit. Disappointed in herself, she tells them to just go out to eat. Vicente disagrees because they do not want to leave her alone. Vicente has a question for everyone. What would they think if he came back to live in Mexico? The sons are ecstatic. Susana And Crisanta are not. Vicente first must find a replacement to go to Africa for Doctors Without Borders. It would be for a limited time. He misses them a lot and wants to know what has been going on.

At Pancho's,  Lupita and Julio are worried about having to have to move. Pancho comes home and tries to talk to Julio again about Temo. Julio's bottom line is that Temo is strange and he doesn't want to be strange like him.  Temo comes in and tells Julio saying that he won' be "catching" anything from him because being gay is not an illness. Julio is not too sure and wants to know how Teno became gay then.  Temo became aware of being gay little by little as he was growing up.  Lupita doesn't know why it matters.  They are the López's "Una familia con suerte"  (A Lucky family)!
Pancho agrees and gives the children their gifts fro La Guelaguetza.  All the gifts have meanings. The twins get masks.  Temo gets a alebrije which was specifically chosen because it represents  bravery and Temo is brave. The all hug except for a still unconvinced Julio.

Later, Susana looks at the model boat and thinks of her father.  She tells him that she has the right to be happy. Crisanta doesn't know if Canuto will answer but Crisanta is telling her yes! she deserves to be happy. Susana is so happy with Pancho but she feels guilt because of her relationship with her sons. Crisanta tells her that situation will take time to fix and in the meantime, Susana should not miss out on love. She needs to live her life today. Crisanta knows she can do both things at the same time. Her happiness will help her win back her sons. Susana is grateful for her mom.

Back at Julieta's,  the  family party  goes on with a night of  fun and games. That does not stop Julieta from being depressed and wishing they never had to go to bed so they could save every second of being together. She asks Dave if he is  a little nervous about moving in with Fernando. He says a little. Julieta makes him promise that if there is a problem or if he needs something that he call them right away.  Robert reminds him that the four of them will never separate. They will see him on weekends and whenever  possible.  Dave asks if that is a promise. yes, it is. After Dave goes to sleep, Julieta sits up depressed and silent ignoring Robert. She goes into Dave's room and gets into  bed with him and holds him as he sleeps.

At breakfast, Pancho tells his children that they are going to have to move. It is not their decision. Temo apologizes thinking it is all his fault. Pancho blames closed and ignorant minds. Suddenly, a rock comes through the kitchen window with a note wrapped around it. They all hit the floor. Julio opens the note. It says "We don't want gays here. Go away!" Julio stares at Temo.

On the sidewalk  in  front of the building,  Axel is asking Linda if they can get back together. Suddenly,  Pancho comes out screaming and asking who threw the rock through his window. He thinks that Audifaz must have done it. Polita come out next asking what is going on.  He asks if this note is from her husband. It is perfectly written, spelled even with accent marks. Susana has just arrived because she had thought of a way to help Pancho and his family.  She is now even more determined.  She will fight for the apartment she inherited in the building and Pancho and his family will be able to stay put. Pancho doesn't want Susana to get into a mess with the Córcega's because of him.   She is not looking for a fight but if they are getting into it with him then they are getting into it with her. Neither Pancho or his son have done anything wrong. Audifaz pops up saying, of course, his son shouldn't be living in this building. Pancho calls him a  clown and asks if he is responsible for the rock through the window. One of the children could have been hurt. Audi says he didn't throw the rock. He would never endanger children. He is a good Christian. Susana wonders if Audi wants the López's out because of Temo's sexual preference. Audifaz answers saying it is against his principles. Susana warns them that they are going to have a fight on their hands for the apartment she inherited.  She is going to tell his mother that right now. Pancho cackles with joy.

At Julieta's, Blanca and Eugenio have come back not wanting to leave Roberto and Julieta alone at a time like this. The doorbell rings. It is Fernando. Julieta holds Dave who is wearing his new red sweater. They turn Dave over. Dave is ready to go. Robert offers to take him to school but Fernando has a taxi already ordered.  There are hugs and expressions of love all around. Fernando grabs Dave's belongings and Dave. Everyone waves goodbye. Fernando and Dave walk down the hall.  Fernando closes the door behind him and they are gone.

Axel is still trying to get back with Linda.  She doesn't even know if she is interested. He promises to be a better Axel and she is going to be his challenge. She doesn't think of a relationship like some sort of movie plot.  He apologizes but just thinks it would be the best thing to be with her.  He goes in for a kiss but (thankfully) Frida comes out and Linda has to take her to school.  She leaves Axel behind just telling her to think about it.

Fernando and Dave are in a cab.  Dave is happy but upset that his "Oppa" parents are sad.

Julieta talks to Blanca about having just lost another child and the big hole she has  within her.  Blanca is well acquainted with the feeling and that there is no solace.  Julieta just wants  to spend the day in Dave's room but she has to go to work and continue on for Blanquita. Blanca hugs her.

Dave pours out his heart to his father.  Besides being upset about Dave leaving, Robert is also afraid  that  Julieta hates him. She has never treated him like she is treating him now not even when they were separated. Eugenio reminds him she has a lot to process right now.  Robert says Julieta has a certain coldness about her he has never seen before and she won't talk to him. She won't even look at him. If only he hadn't made the  mistake of telling Dave he could meet his father.  Eugenio tells Robert that he did the right thing. He put his son's needs  ahead of his own.  Robert remembers Julieta saying that the right way is not always the best way to be happy and wonders if she is right. Eugenio just shakes his head.

Back at Pancho's apartment, Julio and Lupita are talking about the prank they are going  to play on Audifaz because they think he was responsible for the rock. Temo wants to hear about it.  Julio tells him it is better is he is not involved because it is his fault they are in this situation to begin with.

Susana and Pancho go directly into the building to see Imelda. Pancho accuses Audifaz of throwing a rock through his window.  Audifaz denies throwing the rock but says it makes it clear that he isn't the only one that doesn't want Pancho and his family in the building. Imelda asks Susana to understand that they just don't agree with those kind of ideas Pancho's son has.  Susana tells her that if Pancho is not allowed to stay they will see her in court because she is also Canuto Córcega's daughter and she will claim her property rights to an apartment in the building.  Imelda is up for a court fight and Pancho can move out in the meantime. No way! Susana says he will be living there until a legal decision is made whether they like it or not. Susana Córcega will defend Pancho López.

Audifaz is strutting his pious self through the hallway when Lupita calls for his attention calling him "Audifón" (headphone). She has a problem. He stops and  asks what it is. Julio pours  glue all over him and Lupita throws feathers all over him. He has been "glued and feathered".  The kids laugh and run. Pancho and Susana pass by and he makes chicken noises. An angry Audifaz declares that if they want to fight dirty, then the war is on.

Down the hallway, Susana looks at her father's tree and hopes she is doing everything right. She  misses him and always will.

After talking to his father, Robert asks where Julieta is.  Blanca said she left for work. Robert is upset she didn't even say goodbye to him. His family is breaking up.  He has no idea on how to stop it. He needs his parents more than ever.

Another packed episode.

Saddest moment: when the squeaky door closed behind Fernando and Robert and they were gone.

Funniest moment: Audifaz glued and feathered. (Sure beats being tarred and feathered.)

It was so good seeing Susana not affected by Imelda the bully.

I loved Dave's red sweater.

More tomorrow.

Who was it who thought that Tavo and Catalina might be interested in each other? Was it you, Diana? Whoever it was sure saw it coming.

Thanks, Jarifa. Excellent recap!

Tavo makes his move! Jarifa, I too remember someone speculated about this a while back, I forget who it was, as you say, maybe Diana. I think it's another strange pairing, but... whatever works. Catalina is a good and nice person, but she is a nut job. I could have seen her more with Pancho, who is certainly not a nut job, but he is... um, special.

How could Audifaz turn into such an awful person? I can't believe how he is treating his own son and his wife who has put up with him through everything over the years. And Imelda, never an angel, has fallen very low trying to evict Pancho. There is an epidemic of nastiness in the Corsega building, even infecting Julio.

I'm hoping we see more good, happy, and loving stuff soon. Right now it looks like only Pancho and Susana are OK :-(

:-)

Inspired title Jarifa. You gave such care and attention to this beautifully written recap.

“Susana gives her sons gifts from a magical place” and “Pancho cackles with joy” were excellent but “Blanca is well acquainted with the feeling and that there is no solace” touched my heart. My favorite was “Audifaz is strutting his pious self through the hallway”. Just wonderful.

“Robert thinks back to his red sweater that he was wearing when he went missing”. I can’t watch any flashback where that sweater appears and not get choked up.

I so enjoy Cris and Susana’s warm mother/daughter relationship. So loving and supportive. It is painful to see Susana’s sons do not reciprocate her love. It’s easy to be grateful for gifts, but being there for comfort, support and love on an everyday basis is obviously not possible for them. What a gift they are squandering.

“Tavo explains that he had to let her go as a patient because he has some affection for her”. This kind, thoughtful man seems to bring out the best in Cat, doesn’t he? She had such a sweet, hopeful expression. Jarifa and andy you are right, I did wonder early on if there could be more than a friendship brewing. At the least, the thought of them as friends, enjoying each other’s company is comforting.

“Polita thinks it would be better if he were to change back to being the loving and caring Audifaz she fell in love with”. Well, I suppose it IS possible! Some never thought man would walk on the moon. andy, the transformation has been terrible, I agree. Sigh.

“Vicente first must find a replacement to go to Africa for Doctors Without Borders”. Uh oh. My hackles are up…

“Robert says Julieta has a certain coldness about her he has never seen before and she won't talk to him”. “His family is breaking up. He has no idea on how to stop it”. Nor do I. Julieta’s heart has turned to stone and there appears to be no forgiveness on the horizon.

You’ve made my day Jarifa. Thank you.

Diana

"There is an epidemic of nastiness in the Corsega building, even infecting Julio".

So, so true andy. Well said!

Diana

My goodness, for supposedly a light-hearted comedy (wasn't that what it was supposed to be?) we are having a ton of sturm und drang right now. Thanks for covering it with a sensitive but light touch Jarifa. I was glad to see that Pollita stood up to Audifaz for a change. No, he is not the kind and loving man she fell in love with. But she is not the submissive "mujer abnegada" that he fell in love with either. It will be interesting to see how both adjust to these new challenges and changes in their relationship.

Happy Thursday everyone. Another cold, gray day here.

Jarifa: "Strutting his pious self" ROFLOL.

Thank you, Jarifa; and a belated thank you to Cynthia for yesterday’s recap. Both of you have such a flair for writing...quite admirable!

Diana, good call on Tavo and Cat! Odd pairing, but I’m glad for both of them.

Dave walking out with Fernando was heart wrenching, glad I had my box of tissue handy.

So Vicente has decided to come back to live in Mexico. Is he expecting to move in with his family? Love the looks Cris gives Susana when Vicente is there.

Yikes! In my comment I meant to say when the door closed behind Fernando and DAVE!

RgvChick, in that scene all I could imagine was the silence when that door closed and there being nothing. Yes, a “box of tissue moment”.

Andy, it sure didn’t take Imelda long to be dragged down to Audifaz’s level. What a nasty duo!

Diana, so it was you who thought there might be something between Catalina and Tavo. Good call! I think they could make an interesting couple. He is younger but seems older than Robert.

JudyB, maybe there is hope for Polita. I kind of got the impression last season that Audifaz had rescued a young Polita from a poor/nonexistent home situation so I wonder how indebted she feels to him and if that is just another reason she has been reluctant to stand up to him. Anyway, she seems ready to be launched now. It is grey and even colder today but no snow so I am happy.

Steve, glad I could make you laugh.

Great recapping Jarifa! I got home late and had to back up my recording but I sure enjoyed this episode and agree that the saddest moment was when Fernando left with Dave and when the twins “glued and feathered” Audifáz.

I had speculated (and I’m not sure who else might have, maybe Diana did too) that Tavo and Catalina seemed to like each other. In fact, in a previous recap, I may have said, [looks like Catalina may have a crush on Tavo?] So yes, I was thinking that they might end up as more than friends.

Oh my, about Vicente wanting to come home to Mexico from Africa! So who is going to take his place? I’m wondering if Robert and Julieta might be on the outs for a while and Robert just may leave for Africa? I do not like that idea at all!

More and more, Audifáz is looking more and more like he joined a cult. When I was a JW, that is the way that men acted, very high control and they are TAUGHT to be that way with their wives. Women are 2nd class citizens, even in a marriage because most cults subjugate women. I do not understand Audi’s severe reaction because of Temo being “gay”. It’s not like he’s running a gay bathhouse out of their apartment. He’s just a teenaged boy who probably needs to have some counseling as well. He’s not starring in gay porn movies or anything like that. He’s just a teenaged boy. You don’t evict a family from their dwelling because their teenaged son says he is gay. The meanness of the cult he joined is really showing its ugly, ugly, side.

Cynthia, I sure hope that Robert doesn't go running off to Africa rather than face his problems with Julieta. That would be terrible but who knows how any these characters will react to their grief. I am glad I am not the only one who thinks that Audi's religious group seems cultish. I always appreciate your insights.

Thank you for your recap, Jarifa!

This was a difficult episode to watch, especially the farewell scenes with Dave, his abuelos, Robert & Julieta.

Several years ago, there was a local case where a family had fostered a young girl for many(!) years while her father was in jail. They loved her and treated her like a blood daughter. Upon release, the father wanted custody of his daughter, and legally they had to let her go to him. The foster family was devastated.

Imelda did not surprise me, at all. Nope. She has proven many times, over and over again, that she has poor judgement. It is really too bad she did not kick the bucket at the end of Season 1.

Hopefully Susana will take Imelda to court and be granter her 25% ownership of that building. Wouldn't it be nice if it included Imelda's room?

That look on Vicente's face when he said he was coming back to Mexico sort of looked like he might want to try to get back together with Susana. That would be a nice complication for the writers to have a field day with. :-p

Axel is beginning to look like a stalker. Linda is so dumb, she could not see she was playing with fire. But the writers likely will add "stalking" into the list of social problems MMTMF is tackling.

Cynthia, we are on the same wave length...

My earlier comment "hackles are up" completely agrees with what you noted about the possibility of Robert going to Africa. Jarifa, I fear Robert is going to run - flight rather than fight...

Cynthis, we've also both been musing about Tavo and Cat. Because my memory is so bad, I rechecked my comments and saw I had questioned if Cat was too old for Tavo back on November 12th. I think I also may have posted something sooner than that.

doris, "Hopefully Susana will take Imelda to court and be granter her 25% ownership of that building. Wouldn't it be nice if it included Imelda's room?" Yes, it certainly would :)

Diana

Doris and Diana: "Likes" "Hopefully Susana will take Imelda to court and be granter her 25% ownership of that building. Wouldn't it be nice if it included Imelda's room?" Yes, it certainly would :)

doris, I am liking the 25% idea!

Cynthia, yes! Imelda’s very own room.

I think one of the reasons that men are usually older than the women in couples is that at the same age women are much more mature than men. With Tavo and Catalina this younger single man is much more mature than grandma Cat. But I have to admit that Cat may be growing since she started working for Susana.

andy

Andy, interesting take on Tavo and Catalina. That had not crossed my mind.

Good point, Andy!

Andy, yes, you don't miss a thing. On target as usual!

Diana

Oh no!!! Futbol....

Sigh. So diappointed.

Diana

U don't think Susana would get 25% of the building. As the legal surviving spouse, Imelda would get 50% and the "children" would split the other 50%. So the four (Eugenio, Tulio, Audifas, and Susana) would each get 12.5% ownership.

I don't think, not U don't think!

Julieta is having a tantrum and taking it out on the wrong person. She needs to grow up. Maybe Robert should reconsider even being with her at all. She's always passive aggressive. She really needs to see a shrink. Everything is always about her, but Robert is feeling pain too, and instead of trying to work through her pain with her spouse she chooses to turn even colder?

Robert doesn't seem like the type to take off for Africa and leaving his daughter behind. He's already seen the perfect broken family with Vicente and Susana.

So who threw the rock? Didn't Pancho pay a whole year's worth of rent? And why didnt Blanca and family defend Pancho? They can't just kick him out because of his son's sexual preference. Even in Oaxaca there's grounds for a lawsuit on that. Imelda wanting Pancho out wasn't surprising at all. She's such an ugly person inside and out. Don't understand who the family dealt with her all these years. Seriously it's no wonder why Tulio got his revenge on her through Juan Pablo.

Pancho not paying $$$$ rent ?
