Amar a Muerte, 12/5/2018, Episode 25: Coming Home Is So Special

Recap by Kirby J

So we left off with Loosey and Leon/Chino/Jacobo (LCJ) arriving home after their “release” (no one can imagine what kind of “release” they really had…but didn’t happen according to Loosey). Johny is interrogating Loosey about what happened between her and LCJ; so she comes back with, “Must I remind you that I was just kidnapped…that we were trying to escape? …What is wrong with you?” As he holds her head (as if wanting to force her real thoughts out of her head), JonEvil admits that she is right and thanks her because no one understands him the way she does…and no one respects him the way she does. Menacingly, he adds that no one knows him the way she does...and if she is lying to him, he’ll kill him. (LCJ)   He forces a kiss on her and hugs her, but Loosey wants to take a bath ( as she tries to push herself away)…she needs to take a bath because she is very cold ( and smelly?). As JonEvil releases her and leaves, Loosey looks back at him in horror.

At the shrink’s office, A-leash-ia agrees to stay with Beltrino under one condition—that Beltrino not take things so lightly.  They have enough with Javi’s illness. When the shrink asks what Beltrino thinks, he remarks that he knew they weren’t going to believe him and that’s because he only told him a fraction of the truth. He turns to A-leash-ia and tells her that he is going to try to be the man that she wants. She thinks he is only saying that to get out of coming back to the shrink, but Beltrino tells her he is speaking from his heart…but he tells “Poison” (his pet name for her) to give him time and help him. When she starts to give in, Beltrino asks, “How ‘bout my theatrics…not bad, right?” A-leash-ia scoffs and complains to the shrink who tells her not to focus on the differences, but rather the coincidences. When she tells them they should find something that they mutually like, Beltrino quickly says, “Sex! I like to go to bed with her and she likes to go to bed with me.” He urges A-leash-ia to tell the shrink how he gave her nothing before the accident and now it’s all fun, but A-leash-ia can only turn red in embarrassment. The shrink comments that sometimes we focus so much on the negative that we fail to see the positive. Beltrino nods in agreement. After Beltrino tells A-leash-ia that he is truly going to try, A-leash-ia agrees to give him one last chance…for their son, and because she loves him (Beltrino) and cares about him. Beltrino agrees, but he doesn’t want that rabbit food she tries to give him. Ahem, rabbit food, Belty Boy….Hint...hint...

Sergio is driving Juls home. Juls doesn’t think they should have left without saying good-bye. Sergio doesn’t think she should worry about. It was a family situation and Vale needed to be with her family. When Vale starts to feel lonely, she will call Juls. When he adds that all millionaires are like that…they only look for you when they are bored, Juls doesn’t think Vale is like that. Sergio then asks where she lives, but Juls would rather that he just drop her off at the corner since she has things to do. As he is dropping her off, Sergio asks for her number, but she avoids the question.

Meanwhile, Pancho is insisting on walking Lupita home, but she doesn’t want people to start talking, especially his Aunt Me-La-Gross who is looking for any excuse to kick them out. She then rags on Pancho that he turned out to be like all the other men…he just wants to take her to bed. He tells her he never said that, but Lupita tells him she knows all the tricks men use and storms off.  Yeah, and so let’s review, you used this vast knowledge of men to choose the perfect husband?

Loosey is taking a shower and can’t help but think of her tryst in the water. Meanwhile, LCJ walks outside when Alirio comes and tells him that someone is there looking for him. As he walks toward the cop cars, LCJ sees JonEvil and Montilla.  After he asks Montilla why he needs him, Montilla tells him he is under arrest for suspicion of being involved in Loosey’s kidnapping. LCJ looks at JonEvil who smirks in satisfaction. LCJ wonders if he is being arrested only because JonEvil says so, but Montilla tells him to calm down…it is his job to investigate LCJ’s motives. When JonEvil adds that if he has nothing to hide, he shouldn’t get defensive, LCJ lunges toward him only to be held back by the cops and cuffed.

Lupita arrives home to find Fabian and Mejia waiting for her.

Beltrino goes to see Barbara and chides her for having her business open. Barbara refuses to close her business just because of his problems. She has bills to pay and food to buy. When he mentions her portion of the money, she replies that it seems to be just a cheap story he made up…and she doesn’t want to be involved with shamans and witches…those bring bad luck. When she tells him that it’s time that they part ways, he tells her that she is in with him up to her neck…and those who betray him will no longer see light.

Outside the Carvajal home, the reporters crowd around trying to get the scoop. When one reporter steps up and asks Frau why there are patrol cars going in, Frau responds that no information can be given out. On the other side of the gate, LCJ struggles to get free. and as they force him into the patrol car, Loosey comes to her balcony and sees the commotion. Inside, Camilo, Guille and Mateo are talking when Loosey comes running down the stairs. She goes outside and asks what is going on, but JonEvil tells her to let the cops do their jobs. Loosey walks right past him and asks Montilla to explain. After Montilla replies that certain procedures have to be followed, Loosey wonders if those procedures require people to be cuffed. She then gives JonEvil a killer look, turns to Montilla and tells him that she should also be arrested.  Has he considered that this could have been a self-kidnapping. JonEvil tries to stop Loosey by grabbing her arm, but she quickly turns to him and snarls, “Respect me, Mr. Corona!” Just then, Cami and Mateo rush out asking what is going on. When Montilla explains that JonEvil is accusing LCJ of being involved in the kidnapping and that they need to interrogate him, Cami suggests that they interrogate LCJ there at the house. Mateo adds that they can interrogate LCJ at the security office.  If there is reason to arrest him, then they can take him. but if not, they should release him.  Montilla agrees and adds that he will also interrogate Loosey and JonEvil.

At Me-La-Gross’s house, Me-La-Gross just wants to know if her renters have a problem with the law. When she asks if Mejia and Fabian are cops, they admit they are not. they are just there to ask about a man whom Lupita knows very well.  Me-La-Gross leaves, but since she doesn’t have security cameras, she eaves drops from the door and hears as Lupita tells the men that she has not seen El Chino since they left San Antonio. Fabian thinks it’s odd that they are both in Mexico and haven’t seen each other. When Mejia tells her that they just want to know where EL Chino is, Lupita reiterates that she doesn’t know where he is. After Lupita reminds him that El Chino already got his punishment, Fabian tells her that he will not leave the man who killed his father in peace…he is going to look for him and have him sentenced as many times as necessary

At Barbara’s house, Barbara wonders if Beltrino will kill her just as he killed the shaman, but Beltrino reminds her that he did not kill that man. When Barbara suggest that he should then go to the cops and tell them what happened, Beltrino refuses because every time he has gotten involved with the cops, he gets locked up and he won’t go back there. In his other life, he was a guy that would do anything for money, even kill people. Barbara just about gets whiplash as she turns in shock. He continues on about how thigs didn’t go right and he ended up in this body. Beltrino then wonders why he bothers to tell her, no one believes him…he knows just by the way she is looking at him. It’s the same way his wife looked at him.  When Barbara gets confused about which wife he is talking about, Beltrino clarifies that he is talking about the skinny one’s wife. He then goes on to tell her how he has not been able to track Lupita and Juls down. Last time he called them, a friend of his answered, but his friend was killed as they were talking. Barbara is freaked out and doesn’t want to hear any more of his stories. After Beltrino tells her that he just wants to get his life back in order, Barbara advises him to get away from all those bad ideas that only bring hi m bad luck. She then tells him she will help him because she considers him her friend…whether good or bad, she will accompany him to go get the briefcase with the million dollars. with that he can also find Lupita and Juls.  Yuppers, a real friend Barb, who just threatened to kill you, but there is ALL that friendly money buried, isn’t there?

At Me-La-Gross’s house, Fabian tells Lupita that she is not going to get rid of him until he finds El Chino as Juls walks in. Juls overhears as Mejia tells Lupita that they know El Chino is in that city. Juls interrupts and asks how they know and if they have any clues…because Mexico is huge. The men get up and Fabian asks if she is his daughter. When she affirms, Fabian feels sorry for her because El Chino is dangerous and is probably working with a local gang. Me-La Gross continues to eavesdrop as Juls asks if they are sure they are looking for the right man because ever since he was resuscitated, that man is not her father. She hopes they find him because she doesn’t want to see him ever again.

Montilla takes LCJ to the security office and is about to start questioning him when Loosey rushes in and asks that the handcuffs be removed from LCJ; he is not a criminal. Montilla tells Loosey that he will call her when he is ready to question her, but Loosey stands firm until they take off LCJ’s handcuffs. Once done, she steps out. Cami then comes to the doorway and tells Montilla that he will hold his hands in fire for the integrity of this man (LCJ). Montilla is impressed that so many people step up in LCJ’s defense. Mateo thinks he should take that as a sign that what he wants to do makes no sense. After Cami and Mateo leave, Montilla comments to LCJ that his bosses like him very much.

Outside, Johny is walking with head down until he sees Loosey and calls out to her, but she just motions him to stop and walks off to go talk to the media where she thanks them for worrying about her and their interest in informing the country about what happened. She thanks God that she and her chauffeur were able to escape; those were very difficult hours. As she speaks, LCJ watches from the security office as Loosey apologizes to Servando Armenta for ruining his plans to see her. She supposes he wanted to talk about the problems of the country and how together they can solve so much violence. She is also sorry she couldn’t have met him, though in a more traditional manner. She invites Armenta to a meeting where they can sit and discuss whatever issue he wishes to discuss. She addresses Armenta through the cameras and asks, “What do you say, Mr. Armenta? Do you accept my invitation?” Montilla has a fit and wonders if Loosey is crazy as the family members watch and Mateo smiles in admiration. As Loosey continues, Armenta gets up as goon leader asks what he plans to do about blondie.   Oooh  Fiesty.

Renata and Kayla are planning Kayla’s birthday party. When Kayla mentions Guille’s invitation, Renata insists she is not going to invite him.

JonEvil walks with Loosey and tells her he doesn’t understand how she could have spoken to those (Cartel) people in such a way. Loosey replies that they sought her out first and she just wants to fix things. As they enter the house, Loosey tells JonEvil that she is just reaching out to them as Eva, Mateo and Cami come down the stairs. Johny continues to argue with Loosey when Mateo comes and tells him to leave her alone, Mateo commends Loosey for making good news, but Eva thinks that what Loosey did was foolish and, for the first time, she agrees with Johny. When she tells Loosey that she should be smarter, Loosey retorts that she was kidnapped and almost killed. If they don’t confront these people, they might as well leave the country because they aren’t going to let them live in peace.   OK you’ve earned it Lucia, I will actually use your name from here on.

At the university, Beltrino catches up to Rosita.  He had been looking for her. He asks what happened with the shaman—what is being said by the neighbors, family and cops? Rosita doesn’t know much, just that is was a horrible death. Alejandra, the shaman’s daughter thinks it may have happened while he was doing some ritual for someone. Beltrino suggests that it may have been some type of bird attack, but Rosita doubts it because the body supposedly looked sucked dry. When Rosita wonders why Beltrino is so interested, he tells her that he worries about her since those devilish things can be dangerous. He asks that if she is interrogated that she say nothing because he needs to keep his good reputation as a professor. After she assures him that she won’t say anything, he reminds her that they have something pending.

In her bedroom, Vale calls Juls who is sitting on the floor crying. When Vale asks why she left, Juls explains that she figured that the family needed some time to be together. Vale laughs at the thought since there were so many reporters outside. When Juls mentions that Sergio offered her a ride, Vale teases her about liking Sergio, but Juls assures her that Sergio is just a good person. Vale notes the seriousness in Juls’s voice and asks if she is alright. Juls shares that somethings happened at her house, but she doesn’t want to bother Vale with it. When Lupita enters, Juls tells Vale that they can talk later.

Camilo is back at his house meeting with Karla who tells him that she saw Ernesto, her husband, at the bar, but he didn’t recognize her. Though when she saw him so close to her, she doesn’t know how she held herself back from kissing him. She felt they had the same chemistry as always, but that is not in her plans. When Cami asks what her plans are, Karla replies that she wants to get the money back for her family since she left them broke. Cami doesn’t think it should just be a matter of money, but Karla argues that her addiction continues and it’s not going to change. Cami mentions that she sounded very agitated when she called, so Karla explains that they did it to her again. They accused her of cheating and threw her out…but she has never cheated. When Cami suggests that she not return and asks what she plans to do next, she replies that she will not return (but viewerville sees a slight smirk and knows different…and it seems Cami knows too).

At the Carvajal home, Vale takes Alirio (the other ‘also ran’ chofer) a piece of cake in exchange for a favor. She would like him to take her to Juls’s home, if he isn’t too busy. Alirio gladly agrees to take her right then and there. Vale will be ready in 5 minutes and asks that he tell no one about it.

Karla meets with the thug who tried to hold her up. As she throws down an envelope of money, she asks if he brought what she asked for. Of course he did, he only sells quality stuff. Black Market Maybelline?  Weed?  Ecstacy?  One of Dirty Harry’s rejects?

At the Carvajal security office, LCJ explains how he came to work with the Carvajals. Montilla’s question is why Cami didn’t keep him on if he was so satisfied with his work. LCJ responds that Cami was very affected by Don Leon’s death so he preferred that LCJ come work for the Carvajal family. Montilla still feels that something is just not quite right and LCJ wonders if it is because he talked to JonEvil who it seems doesn’t like him very much.  Montilla laughs and assures LCJ that JonEvil definitely doesn’t like him… and with good reason.  But he does not see why Lucia came to his defense.

Finally alone and relaxing in her bedroom, Lucia rolls her eyes as she sees that JonEvil is calling her. He wants to know why she doesn’t answer her phone. Lucia tells him that if he is just calling to argue with her, she is going to hang up. JonEvil is not happy and asks since when does she do whatever she wants (since she got a brain and inherited her shares?)  Lucia replies, “Since I am a free woman who doesn’t depend on any one, and I do whatever I want.” JonEvil questions if she didn’t depend on anyone when she was out on the streets. As far as he knows, they decided to make a life together. Everything that she is as a woman she owes to him. and everything he is as a man, he owes to her…and she has to answer to him just as he answers to her…that’s what they agreed upon. (Rat him out to Montillo, the longer you wait, the more of an accomplice you are.)  Lucia is fed up with him telling her that all the time and asks how much longer she will have to pay for everything he did for her…or does he want to tell everyone about the place he got her out of and trained her to fall in love with Leon…and that  he accomplished it.  When she suggests that he announce it to the public, JonEvil suggests that they talk later.   Oh Boy….the wheels have not fallen off yet but they are making unhappy noises.

Karla goes to the place where the cheats are. After one of them leaves, she enters the place, points her gun the one counting money and tells him to put it all in her bag. The cheat tells her that she is making a big mistake, but Karla retorts that they are the ones who made the mistake of stealing from her. The cheat puts several bundles of money in her bag, Karla tells him that is enough. she only came for what belongs to her. She then exits as she puts away her pistol.

At Renata’s apartment, Renata tells her cat to behave during the party. When she gets up to put away the cat and the invitees arrive, she leaves her phone on the table. Kayla takes the opportunity and send a text to Guille to invite him to the party (you’d think Renata would have learned already not to leave her phone where Kayla can get it). Guille receives the message and considers it.

Montilla is inside the house looking at a pic of Lucia and Leon. As she enters, he ask Lucia how long she and Leon knew each other. Lucia thought the interrogation would be about the kidnapping, not about all the gossip regarding her life. Montilla reminds her that he is still investigating her husband’s murder and he is just killing two birds with one stone. Montilla asks Lucia if she would be able to identify the first house where they were kept captive. Lucia replies that they were in the middle of nowhere so she wouldn’t be able to identify it. When he asks how many men there were, she answers that there were six and they were heavily armed. He then asks if they hurt her; so she tells him “no” but they did hurt LCJ. She thinks she could identify one of the men…the leader, El Chuspa. Montilla shows her a picture. Lucia recognizes El Chuspa who was found in a trash bin three hours ago. Montilla assumes that Servando Armenta had him killed for allowing her to escape. He asks if she can imagine what he will do to her if he was capable of killing his right-hand man…that is the man she is calling out to have coffee with her to discuss Mexico’s problems. Montilla wants Lucia to understand just how dangerous that is.

Cami is given 5 minutes to talk to LCJ.  LCJ is upset because Cami had told him he would take him out of there. After LCJ asks if he heard what Lucia said, they talk about Montilla possible working for JonEvil. The cop comes in and LCJ argues that the 5 minutes are not up. He demands to know if they will take him in. LCJ is pretty exercised about it and if not for Camillo would have surely made matters worse.
Montilla asks why Lucia thinks Johny is accusing LCJ so vehemently. Could it be that he is jealous? Lucia replies that Johny is just trying to protect her and the family since it was something Leon had asked of JonEvil.

Montillo goes and tells LCJ that he is free to go.  As LCJ walks away Montillo tells him that even though he has powerful people protecting him he still does not trust him. LCJ yells backthat he feeling is mutual.

Guille arrives at the party. Renata is quite surprised to see him/ zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Lucia goes to takk to LCJ. He thanks her for helping him. Lucia thinks that what happened could have been much worse. He asks her to go inside, but she wants him to leave first. LCJ insists that he will stay there until she goes inside and watches as she enters the house. Sheezo I thought he was going to give her his class ring.

The party does not exactly look to be alcohol free…maybe free alcohol. Guille walks around and watches as Renata looks to be having a really good time, especially when her security guard friend brings her roses and everyone urges them to kiss.

Lucia lies in bed thinking about her tryst with LCJ when she gets a call from Armenta. He wants to take her up on her offer to have coffee and talk, but he wants to do it alone.  Hatch another flock of your pet moths Afterlife Chick, business looks to be picking up.

Comments:
Wow, Chick, you can cluck over this Resumen; Should I say you laid a golden egg? But laying an egg is derogatory, so I won't say that.

Loosey is wanting loose now of JohnEvilAngel. He always seems so greasy to me, BTW. Did they indicate tonight that JohnE got her out of a brothel?

I was surprised that Beltrino submitted to emotional blackmail from A-Leash-ia giving him conditions for the honor of her staying with him. There seems a real change in Chino's attitude, maybe the electric shock treatment helped him. La Shrinka should have challenged her if she demanded he not take things lightly. Delusional pseudo-importance Must thinking. Chino-in-Belt reverted to his Chino character w/ Bruja Barb, who (unless I am mistaken bad-mouthed witches.)

Do we have a female writer inserting her theory that men are jerks w/ Lucho & Sergio?

I donno what Pancho has but a death-wish, trying to make time w/ a professional killer's woman.

Am I wrong? I thot Leon-in-China was only being detained, not arrested; tho I don't know if Mexican law has this American distinction. At any rate non-Columbo's approach was a travesty of injustice. Yet bad-mouthing is very effective in real life.

Why Lupita talked w/ those 2 American jerks is beyond me, what with the despicable land lady eaves-dropping. I have no idea how they intend to apprehend Chino, since he was legally released.

I am at a loss at to why Renata did not want to invite Willy.

Is this Loosey meeting w/ Armenta similar to the meeting of Kate Castillo with El Chapo?

Not a bird attack, but a moth attack? sucked dry? they gone bring in the Chupa Cabra?

Juls and Vale will be telling each other everything.

I can imagine Karla w/ a S&W .44 revolver, "Make my day." but no, she a 9mm semiauto pistol, maybe a Super .38 as military calibers are illegal to own in Mexico.

If Loosey tells on JohnEvilAngel, I wud expect her to go to jail.

It was a bit surprising that Karla got out of the gambling joint w/out a shootout. Won't they chase her in the street? How will she make a get-a-way?

I thot Renata was uncharacteristically rude to Willy when he arrived at the party.
I figured the booze would flow at the party.

Now u know that w/out Argument, Armenta will be smitten & determine that he will have Loosey. There is the possibility of 2 armed camps now: Armenta & Loosey vs Alarcon & Eva.

Great episode, and great recap. Luci was on fire tonight. Lucobo forever

Oh sorry, I forgot to write in that Kirby wrote the recap. Will correct that right away!

Thanks Kirby and thanks Rgv Chick for posting it.

"Loosey retorts that she was kidnapped and almost killed. If they don’t confront these people, they might as well leave the country because they aren’t going to let them live in peace. OK you’ve earned it Lucia, I will actually use your name from here on."

Good on ya, Kirby. I think she's going to be a standup girl from now on. Although she's going to be having a tough time wriggling loose of JohnyBeBad's death grip.

More later.

Q and A time:

BTW. Did they indicate tonight that JohnE got her out of a brothel?
Her MOTHER had her in a brothel and she escaped and it appears was living on the street.

being detained, not arrested; tho I don't know if Mexican law has this American distinction
Mexican TeleNovela Law leaves a vast leeway to the individual Law Enforcement agent, as most times there is a blurry line between the law breaker and the law enforcer.

Why Lupita talked w/ those 2 American jerks is beyond me, what with the despicable land lady eaves-dropping.
If she had three or more brain cells she would not, and would have done something with her life such that she and her daughter would not be selling lotto tickets in the park.

I am at a loss at to why Renata did not want to invite Willy.
Me too, unless it is to show that she is vastly different from 99 percent of TN cuties who operate governed strictly by their overwhelming urges to procreate.

Juls and Vale will be telling each other everything. Pillow Talk

I can imagine Karla w/ a S&W .44 revolver, …. as military calibers are illegal to own in Mexico.
a. Her hands are way too small for a 44 which would probably get loose from her on the first shot
b. Maybe the gun she purchased was an undocumented alien without proper papers

I thot Renata was uncharacteristically rude to Willy when he arrived at the party.
It was probably just SHOCK as she did not invite him as far as she knew.

Cluck cluck.

Why didn't Renata want to invite Guille to the party? Because she has a crush on him. And does not want him to know that she has a crush on him. (Pure middle school strategy...and we're all still middle schoolers at heart)

Also, she's smart enough to know that it's inappropriate and risky to socialize with your boss outside of work. But...she has a crush on him. Big-time. And the more hooked you are, the more you try to hide it. At least if you're a sweet young thing like Renata.

Kind of fun to watch this incipient, clumsy romance. Certainly more pleasant than the JohnyBeBad-Lucia alliance.

Thank you, kirby. I tried to watch last night, but there are so many characters. I have decided to just focus on Luci and Leonchino. The black magic element is confusing and weird.

Winter has settled in here. Temps in the 30s 40s during the day and dropping into the 20s at night . It is dark so early now . I hate winter.

Kirby: Good Job on the recap.

Susanlynn: Luci needs to get away from the abuser.

It is inevitable that Lu & Ju or at least Juli spots LCJ before long, We have seen bits and pieces of the mind and body mixing just a little, with flashbacks occuring in LCJ and Beltino, but as best as I can tell, his Son and the Leash (short I might note) are still strangers to Beltino.

Thus is it safe to assume that when Juli discovers him LCJ will be just as clueless as to who / what she is?
Of course it would not be a TN without a catfight over a maaaaan. so I expect Lupita to pull out all the stops to get her man back. This will happen about the time LCJ and Lucia are consummating their newfound romance on at least a daily basis. Hmmm maybe he will be hopping....from woman to woman. #wooferdreams

After the stunt JonEvil pulled, casting suspicion on LCJ, hopeofully it will harden his resolve to get him. He doesn't have any real proof yet that JonEvil had him killed if I am not mistaken. Plenty of suspicions, just like Monty, but nothing concrete.

40 friggin degrees outside. I am in jail in my own house.

Mornin' Patio!!

Kirby, this was just great, thank you!

Enoch, I don't know about Mexican law, but it sure did look to me like Montilla was arresting Leon-Chi. And ITA Montilla was a jerk to have arrested him based on JonEvil's accusation.

JudyB "she's (Renata) smart enough to know that it's inappropriate and risky to socialize with your boss outside of work." Spot on! plus, yes, she does have a big-time crush on Guille, though she doesn't want to admit it.

Kirby, I agree that Renata was shocked when she first saw Guille, but she sure was doing a good job of ignoring him during the party.

Looks like Lucy is turning into quite a daring barracuda...taking on so many men within what seemed minutes.

Susanlynn, #hatewintertoo

Thank you for the recap Rgv Chick and Kirby J...

I too am loving the change in Lucia's character, she is now developing a backbone and is standing up for herself. The more her feelings grow for Jacobo, the stronger she will become. It's high time she lets loose of that tie that used to hold her to Johnny. I loved how she confronted the leader of the Cartel that kidnapped her and Jacobo, and how she didn't let Johnny's emotional blackmail get to her...I will love to see more of this Lucia in future episodes....Kirby, I like your theory on the jealousy and cat fight situation that could potentially occur when Juliana meets Jacobo, I would love to see Lucia get jealous, it should be amusing...On another note, I am keep wondering how Johnny's crime will be discovered. I don't see inspector Montilla discovering this, but Mateo...I am looking forward to Johnny getting caught, I need his arrogance to be brought down. he is too full of himself.

Does anyone else think the Beltran/Chino's little adventure with his student storyline is unnecessary? I don't see why what relevance it has. I need Beltran to be in Texas looking for the hidden money.

Benny.

Anonymous: If I am not mistaken, Chino/Beltran was forced to return to teaching by his wife. He knew nothing about anthropology so he brought up the topic of death. Somehow, the pretty young student convinced him that she knew a shaman and would set up a meeting. Chino Beltran forced the shaman to perform a ritual by kidnapping his grandson. When the shaman died during the ritual, Chino/Beltran sought out and questioned the student, who is his way of keeping tabs on what the police are doing without becoming a suspect.

Pardon me for congratulating the wrong summarizer: the Cooing Does goes to Kirby! Thanks mucho.

OK, KIrby, I retract the S&W .44 image w/ Karla -- now I bestow on her an S&W .460 w/ 14" barrel. When the bad guy sees that pointing at him, he gets this sudden urge to go to the baño. Of course since this gun is a revolver, she can get a gunsmith to fit a put a hand-fitting grip on it (grip does not have to hold ammo inside). She attaches a long shoelace on the barrel near the muzzle, so when she fires, she puts her foot on the lace to prevent excessive muzzle jump.

So was the implication that Loosey was prostituting on the street when JohnEAngel found her? So then she has no education, never went to school? Can she read & write? U wud think she wud be quickly exposed for this at the empresa, mispelling y vs ll, v vs b, h vs no-h (habla vs abla). Table manners? (typically it seems all telenovela characters wave the utensils as they talk anyway.)

Susan: Black magic element. I have never seen a TN so pagan-occult-based. We have even now seen La Muerte as more than a hidden goddess, she has interacted with a character overtly (Chino-in-Beltran).

IMHO: Winter depends on what part of the country you are in. I have lived in many places. I lived in Minnesota over 4 years. Now I see Somalis in a tent city in Minneapolis; unbelievable. Winter gets old in Minneapolis. Cars parked outside need wires run to them to keep car water temp up so you can start the car. In Chicago there is this killing wind that comes off the lake. But in Texas, winter is IMHO best time of the year. Actually what I have seen is that generally there are only about 2 weeks of anything like real winter. On any day in the "winter" temp may reach the 70's. Summer is sun-stroke time. Ohio has a more genuine winter; you get to build snowmen & show forts, throw snowballs. In Manchester England it was like permanent grey sky, but little or no snow when I was there for over 2 years, & not so bone-chilling cold. It got cold in Denver, but the hot sun would come out & melt the snow. Now you could move to Guatemala City & have perpetual spring.

Steve: Loosey get away from JohnEAngel? He is like a big ball of chewing gum sticking onto to Loosey.

BTW: What kind of trap could Loosey set for Eva, when Eva goes thru her possession? Bear trap on floor (foot clomp)? High DB alarm? (Squaaaaawk) Keep a couple of pit bulls in her room? borrow the snake? Set up a cod-liver shower on ceiling to go off? Inside a drawer have a cannister of white foam sealant that goes off (can't get it off hands)? Fill a drawer with Witch moths?

The actriz doing Lupita is great, showing a woman bummed out on life, but going thru the motions w/ mostly flat affect.
Likewise Boyer is doing a great job of acting. A good actor can play many roles: sympathetic heroine, despicable villain, pathetic doormat or whatever.

I still don't know what was the original plan in Loosey's mind when she married Leon. How were they going to take advantage of him? The only thing that wud make sense is if he had been old & ready to kick the bucket or if a murder were planned (to inherit his bienes), which she denies. She let JohnEAngel do a repeat of her mother, pimping her out.

Hi Ginger Wiseman, I am guessing your reply is referring to my earlier comment...

I realise that she helped Beltran/Chino in discovering the witch doctor, but I don't see the necessity for the writers carrying on with this professor and student affair storyline, it adds nothing to the plot. I would rather him stop this time wasting, and make a move on already, it's like the reason why he wanted to retrieve the money (to save the young boy) in the first place has been forgotten. I also don't think anyone is really enthusiastic to see them kiss. Just thinking about it makes me quiver.

Benny.

As far as the Beltino / Rosita romance goes, no, it adds nothing to the plot thus far on the surface. I thought it might be a hint that to Beltino, A-Leash-ia is just some domineering woman who popped nto his life from nowhere, and as far as he is concerned, he had never seen her before a few weeks ago.

So why NOT entertain the romantic interests of a young, pretty, very interested, to say the least, college girl. She is an adult, and I suspect it does happen on campuses.

JudyB thanks for reminding us of the almost lost art of crushing on someone. It ranks right up there with another of my obscure romantic favorites...Pig Latin.

Wow, did you used to be with the CIA or FBI?

Nopis, more like “Criminal TN Minds”

Rgv Chick, thank you for the list of AAM characters! It's a huge help for someone like me who watches occasionally... and probably also for those who watch closely because there are so many characters to keep track of.

I dropped in here because we got fútboled, and found this pleasant surprise.

andy

Wow, Chick. Thank you for all your work on our behalf in the great Elenco List. You might want to add it to the WickedPedia article. This has clarified to story for me.

1. U scratched my mind: "* (Michel Brown as) Macario "El Chino" Valdés / León Carvajal / Jacobo Reyes: was electrocuted for killing the Governor in San Antonio who was receiving a 1 million dollar bribe"

Is it possible that the real reason why Fabian ( Judge's son) is after Chino is for that maletin of money $$$ ???

2. "Lucrezía Borgia, Johny’s protégé, trained by Johny to make Leon Carvajal fall in love with her." So JohnEAngel is an expert in training women how to seduce men? LOL

3. "* (Jessica Díaz as) Renata Barranco, Guillermo’s secretary who keeps him out of trouble and has a crush on him."
IMHO, what she is doing is getting herself in trouble instead of keeping Willy out of trouble. Willy is sure to be caught when the helpees smell the rat.

Chick; again I thank you. I will probably be consulting this list from time to time in the future. Remembering all that stuff is daunting.

No show tonight El Fútbol Es Rey.

Andy, thanks for dropping in and glad the list will help you.

Enoch, come to think of it, you’re right; Guille will most likely get Renata in trouble. She’s already an accessory after the fact in Castillo’s shooting.

Interesting thought about the money...could be, but I think Fabian just wants El Chino dead.

The Coquet Rosita:
Apparently some women watching think she is an unpleasant superfluous addition to the plot. She is an addition to the plot which appeals to what Dirty Old Men may be watching the telenovela, to whom the prospect of having a pretty young woman like that after them would be a dream come true; so they may enjoy identifying with Beltran in that situation, also as a relief from their old Battle Axe who is making their life miserable & shunning their bed. Escape from A Leash around the neck! They may break out singing:
"I wish by golly I
Could spread my wings & fly
& let my grounded soul be free for just a little while.
... And taste the sweetest taste of freedom for my soul! . . .
Free at last!"

Should Rosita be deemed "a superfluity of naughtiness"?

A nation's Zeitgeist changes over time.
It was not long ago that both adultery & fornication (in many forms) were crimes in USA; talking about jail/prison terms. When I was a boy we had both a fornication & a sodomy trial in the city where I lived. As I recall the fornicator was convicted.

Now both adultery & fornication are considered legal fun & games (as evidenced in our telenovelas) whether between adults or children. However, society now defines the sin & the crime as being the violation of age differential, also some places as violation of teacher to student relationship even when both are consenting & eager-beaver adults.
I am not sure that Mexico has caught up completely w/ the American theory on this as a national Zeitgeist. My theory is that part of the enthusiasm for the emphasis on age-differential is that it soothes the conscience when one assures self that this is fine because we are consenting adults; after all, I am no pederast.

RgvChick, you are incredible. I only wish I were able to watch this - your list will be so helpful to the lucky folks who can.

I see the first few minutes most night and must say your telenovio Michel Brown is so hawt, I don't know how TV screens haven't caught on fire.

Your beautiful avatar and Kirby's spectacular one have made me happy I wandered over her today.

Wishing all of you a wonderful day.

Diana

Enoch the situation with Rosita and Beltran, as with many things in life, is easily explained with an automotive corollary:

A man drives what he can afford.

But in actuality their ages are not out of the ballpark . You know enough that it just looks WRONG. Say for a rough estimate Belt and A-Leash-had javier when they were around twenty or so, that puts Belt under forty. Busty is around twentyish. That is not crazy, in that he does not look like her grampa, if they were seen out in public together. I have known many women who preferred men substantially older than them, within reason.

We saw Vale dating Beltran in the show they both were in previously with him playing Emanuel her Godfather and ultimately those two were a couple.

Emanuel and Emilia in lbylb were supposed to be 35 years apart, he was supposed to like 55 or something

9:20,: Thanks. Yeah in B y B he seemed to be playing a much older part than here. and Emilia was a college girl too, but seemed much younger than our lusty busty Rusty.

Maybe the formula for the yuck cutoff is double her age? In B y B pretty much everybody, including me, thought WTF?, including the other show characters.

You KNOW it is bad when some little thing half your age is actually already a Gramma. Then maybe it is time to just hang up your spurs. :-) :-)

Kirby, I was thinking he same thing about the age difference between Belt and Rosita; there's really not that big of a gap. Now the age difference between Lucia and Leon was quite significant; though no one commented on it. I think the more questionable issue with Belt and Rosita (other than he is a married man--both in body and soul) is that he is her professor. Yes, they are consenting adults, but there will always be the question of favoritism and how valid her grades are.

Diana, you are so sweet. We sure do welcome your wandering over here from time to time. This TN is moving so fast and characters are coming in left and right; so it's difficult to keep up with who is whom. And yes, Michel is MUCHO hawt! And I don't mind sharing him...JudyB, did you see that? :-)

Don't fight girls or I will have to separate you. I am sure Mr. Blue Eyes luuuurves all of you.

So glad you don't mind, Rgv Chick. I'd hate to be "on the outs" with you! Actually I think we may be sharing him with a very large group, we just haven't heard from 'em on the blog line.

irl rostia and beltran are 19yrs apart

Gracias, RGVChick. Sorry to be so late.

Beltran getting into anything with Rosita is inappropriate because of the power imbalance of their relationship. It is no different from someone in an office getting it on with someone lower in rank, especially if he supervises her. That might lead to collusion as well as to favoritism. She is over the age of consent, but this is still not right.

It is not unusual for profs to be attracted to students, particularly if the student is also brilliant.

As to the Lucia/Jacobo relationship, what is going on in his head when she doesn't know who he really is (and wouldn't be likely to believe the tale) and this starts only days after his official death? Not to mention that she is now on the firing line from Armenta and from Jony-Be-Bad.

Wait, wait, wait, it doesn't have to sound like a car wreck. That is the beauty of in the river or shower, some of those unmentionables....... kind of take care of themselves.

I'd bet if you found some entity from another galaxy whose species reproduces some other way than us, and described human sex to them, they would be astounded that this strange human species had not already died out.

OK, Loosey doesn't have the best track record, and she seems to feel bad about her boyfriend killing her husband, but she looks like she is ready to turn on said boyfriend slimeball. And though she doesn't know it, her latest river rendezvous was , for all practical purposes, with her formerly--momentarily--dead husband. Can't hold that against the girl, and she did tell off the bad guy who might just have her and then have her.....killed.

BTW, not a spoiler, but do not miss tonight if the previews are any indication.

i mean el chino isn't a professor lmao, he doesn't care, it's wrong but he's a horny hitman who couldn't care less

UA, Leonchi must be having a really difficult time knowing that Lucia was so easily seduced...or rather she was quick to seduce him. Though he is thoroughly enjoying the close encounters, he must be seething that she was so quick to the draw.

Anon 12:42, good point. El Chino is no professor but he is smart enough to tell Rosita not to say anything about him to the cops “to save his reputation” since he is a professor; so I ‘m sure he knows that an affair with a student is not kosher.

chickie...thank you so much for that list of characters. part one was a big help. Then, I saw part two…..

when you have just graduated from college and start to teach in a senior high, you are only four years older than the seniors. My first day of teaching, I was surprised to run into guys who played Legion baseball with my boyfriend. I never heard of any female teachers dating students, but I knew a few young male teachers who got involved with students. One of my friends eventually married a student after she graduated. Also, I was completely grossed out by comments the male teachers made about female students...but then , those same guys also made inappropriate comments to the female teachers, especially the young ones. hopefully, things have changed.

Susanlynn. Things have not changed. People under about thirty are still governed as much by hormones as by the need for food. Have you ever watched any Spanglish TeleNovelas? Oh Wait ! This IS a TeleNovela. #sorrynotsorry

Urban: "Beltran getting into anything with Rosita is inappropriate because of the power imbalance of their relationship."

I don't know of any proof that "power imbalance" makes courting sinful, unless it amounts to holding a knife to a throat, a threat to fire from job or bar from advancement. Wealth is power, & difference of wealth is usual. Ability to give or deny sex is power, a power which many women exercise. "I won't have sex unless you (marry me or whatever"). Is that power imbalance?

Interesting how modern vocabulary has shifted: once what was decent vs sinful is now appropriate vs inappropriate.

BTW, I am not at all sure that it is the brilliance of a girl which makes her attractive to a prof! She might have other more interesting attributes, like physical beauty or worship. I think excessive brilliance might be a negative for some men.

But yes, it would make it hard to fail a student if the prof is in love with the student. On the other hand it is cruel to deny romance to a couple who are in love. There is also the issue of some government trying to micromanage people's lives, tyranny. There is a big power imbalance between people & govt, students & administration. While people are trying to enjoy life, some Big Brother butts in or some bureaucrat who should decide for you that you may not have freedom.

All this raises the question of to what extent Mexico has adopted US PC-concepts, especially in age-gap & power-gap situations?

Susan:
"comments the male teachers made about female students." Do female teachers made comments about male students? & what about unspoken comments in the mind? What I find amazing is the commonness of female teachers having sex with their students in high school or middle school. All these poor little boys gladly being raped.

Kirby, I think u r right about Slimeball JohnE. He might like to marry Lucia & then kill her to get her shares in the company.

Anon: It seems like Chino-in-Beltran now wants to go straight. Electric shock therapy?

Enoch, I have heard male students make comments about female teachers but never vice versa.

Susan:
thanks for giving me a window into your reality in your school. I myself taught for many years in a private school and never heard any indecent comments about students by any teacher, man or woman. But I believe your report.

OF b Enoch, I taught in a senior high with 1500 students in grades 10 to 12. There were more male teachers than female teachers. Most of the teachers whom I taught with were lovely people, but I personally had some inappropriate comments made to me. In those days, you just had to ignore those comments and walk away.

Talk to the hand for Johny.

Love and appreciate the recaps. Thanks you. Thank you!
Yes, she totally deserves to be Lucia. I love the chemistry she has with Jacob/Leon.
Any girl who grows up with their own mother forcing her into a bedroom with some random dude, is going to have some morality confusion. Corona's scam seemed the better option to rape. Makes sense. She's growing as a character though. The way I took the first episode is that she thought they would take his money, no more.
My biggest question is what the hell is up with JCorona's powder blue suits and shirts with the priest collars?
It's hard to take him seriously. Though I know he's going to hit Lucia soon, I just know it.
Also, maybe random thought, but I truly love the fact they show Lucia's make up wearing off. She was a mess during the kidnapping. I hate it when a woman wakes up with perfect liner and lipstick.
Thanks again.
