Amar A Muerte, 1/4/19, Episode 43: Explanations, Anyone?
- Javier is playing possum and having snit fits because "his daddy" hasn't arrived yet to see him. Nobody will do but DAD.
- Alicia and her friend Christina discuss all the crazy secrets and mysterious goings on with Beltran these days as Lupita is brought into the emergency room at the same hospital (Ya don't say!). Ali notices the woman being brought in, but just.
- Barb is racing down the highway to nowhere as usual.....
- Back in Mexico City, Juliana is depressed and cannot bear to eat what Perlita has just brought her. Juls gets a sudden call from the hospital notifying her of her mother's serious--no, make that grave (ahem)--condition. Pancho agrees to take her to the hospital.
- Todd arrives unexpectedly at Renata's apartment with groceries to make lunch for two. Seeing that The Boss is there, he invites Guillermo to stay and eat with them. Guille finally gives in.
- Lucia begins her first interview with the international press. (Love Mr. Blondie. Hope we see more of him!) He schmoozes and she gloats. The "whole world" is watching her and following her every move. So is Jacobo, aka León, aka Jacón, who paces throughout. (FF>>FF>>)
- Sr. Germán, the head attorney for Grupo Carvajal, pays a visit to the head accountant and tells him to have a full accounting of the books and any irregularities by first thing in the morning. "--Don't ask questions or think of discussing it with anybody else!" On the way out of that office he meets Johny. JC schmoozes and asks why the meeting was cancelled. German fibs and says nobody was available.
- Barb and Belchin' finally get to the bar and meet up with Coyote Man, aka Santos. CM seems to know that Belchin' is another transmigrated soul with more unfinished business than most. "--How many lives did you take this time? Be careful or it could turn out costly."
- At Ren's dining table the three non-amigos eat hot chili salsa. Guille gets ill immediately and throws up. He is forced to nap on her bed to recover.
- At the interview, Jake listens to Lucia mention her next step is only to continue increasing the value and the importance/positive influence of Grupo Carvajal which was her dearly beloved hubby's, QEPD, greatest dream. He also hears her lie flat out that her heart is not accepting romantic proffers at this time. She is still not over her love for León.
- Belchin and Barb are finally on their way with Santos to the D.F. She's chattering on about the hell they've just been through the past couple of days; Belchin doesn't appreciate Santo's holier than thou attitude. Santos reminds him he doesn't owe him any explanations or excuses. Nope, but in the next death to follow it will all count. Viewerville notes the interesting visual of the crossroads their truck is now passing through.
- When the interview is at an end, Johny arrives. He makes a point of rubbing Jake's interest in his employer: "--What a beautiful woman! What strength!" He looks Jake in the eye and says pointedly: "--Don't think I don't realize it." "--What?" "--The look of a man in love." Johny then chats up Lucia and tells her there's to be a dinner party at her manse that evening with the politicians their enterprise is supporting. The two walk back over to Jake. She snidely tells him she's going back with Johny. Johny stands there and gives another full frontal gloat to Jake before going to catch up to Lucia.
- At the hospital, Juls and Panchito find a nurse to ask about Lupita's condition. They learn she's had a serious shot to the back and they're waiting.
- El Alacran is on the phone with Mugro who tells the boss that with his aim he is certain Lupi is in heaven with the angels by now. "--She'd better be!"
- Back at Ren's, Guille finally gets up and out of the bed. Todd's washing dishes. Guille admits he was trying to show off like he ate chili all the time--but he never has ever. Ren tries to give him some treatment or tablets or something and he refuses. The hallway is so tiny they're close and he just cannot control himself and gives her another passion-filled lip lock. They get so excited that they knock something down in the pantry and the noise gets Todd looking to see what happened. All innocent. Guille leaves.
- In response to his add, Camilo has an unexpected visit from a woman whose fifteen year old daughter died and came back--but with the should of a supposed 40 yr. old man. Cam calls Jake to come and meet with them.
- At Valentina's, Lucho is outta luck. Val is in no mood to go to bed with him. She remembers the lesbian awareness lip lock with Juls. Then she gets a call from Juls to join her at the hospital. Val tells Lucho she is going to keep "her friend" company and doesn't want a lift or him joining her there at the hospital.
- At Lucia's soiree, she turns quite rude, especially with Mrs. Politician when she says after making friends with narcotraficantes she's probably now got more enemies than her husband. Lucia disagrees and says it simply makes her company more popular than her husband. "--Well should a lady keep company with criminals?" "--Who says I'm a lady???!!!" Johny nips this in the budding cat claws-fest.
- During a diner stop on the way, Santos informs Belchin that there are a number of others just like themselves. The butterfly mark only burns when they've not been behaving correctly. Santos doesn't care what body he's got because the alternative would be food for the worms. If they've been brought back then they must be on a mission with something that needs being done. What is it? Who knows? Each person has got to figure that out for himself. Belchin figures since he's doing the same as before, his mission must be to cleanse the world of bad guys like himself. Santos doesn't figure that makes much sense. Must be something else.
- Lupita dies for a while on the table and then recovers.
- Alicia chats up Juls. They offer a bit of comfort to each other.
- Doc comes out to say she's serious. Ok. What else is new? --Yawn.
- Jake tells Hector, the gym teacher, that he totally understands his rage at what Death has brought him back to. He tries persuading Hector to maybe make amends with his family from the prior life and tend to their needs in the same way León has recently had to do. This calms Hector down and they agree to move forward with Camilo.
- At the office once again, Guillermo runs into Mayela. They are seen by a couple of the reporters and May explains the mixup in their relationship in the press. The two reporters keep trying to take pictures but May and Guille refuse.

And okay, I'll admit it, I was screaming "Yes, yes, yes, kiss each other damnit!" and they did. And how. Muchos besotes. Poor Teo, I even forgave him for inflaming Guillermo's entire digestive tract with his macho salsa. Take that! Intruder. But all for naught. Ms. Renata is a goner for Guillermo and vice versa. Obviously though Mayela will not slink away easily. Que pesada es esta chica!
And I was quite surprised that the young girl had a man's soul. Wow! If Beltrino hates his new body, can you imagine how he would have reacted if he had gotten a woman's body?? I hate to even think about it!
Ahhh, Renata and Guille...finally got to it...but in the closet?? and with TEo in the next room?? Silly young folk!
Kirby, ITA, Keila would be a really good consolation prize for Teo. He seems to be such a sweet guy.
And the next time Mayela hops up on Gullible's shoulder for a photograph he needs to tell her: WTF? Get off my shoulder. What do you think you are, my pet parrot? STALKER
Or just fire her and get someone else to show Latin America how to make Tacos.
Just get one of the hot taco truck chicks.
And I couldn't tell from your recap how you felt about Javier's attachment to his "new" dad, but I have been very touched by this part of the story. My husband was, and is, a remote academic who never played with his children and was seldom around. To see how that little guy bloomed when he had a father who enjoyed being with him and playing with him really got to me. So, yeah, I'm a hopeless Beltran-Chino fan. I hope he makes it, albeit in his skinny, asthmatic body that is no longer chick-magnet buff. But hey, it's not like his sex life is suffering. He should have no complaints.
Lucia's behavior last night was interesting. Ordering mescal first of all. And then responding to the candidate's wife bitchiness with some of her own. I certainly enjoyed that, and could hardly blame her because the wife was shooting darts and daggers from the get-go. Of course can't blame the wife either as her husband was practically salivating over Lucia's beauty and poise. Ugh.
The other thing I notice more and more is Johny is always slightly bending forward in an obsequious way, leaving that generous behind of his sticking out. Another great visual of the physical acting and characterization in this show. Just think that it's done terrifically well on everyone's part. Including the sticky-like-glue Mayela actress.
Favorite phrase from your recap: "full frontal gloat"
Awesome! Thanks as always amiga mia.
JudyB, I too am a fan of the Beltrino especially when he is with Javier, but I do feel sorry for Juls who never saw this side of the man she knows as her father.
Since we have sort of decided that the death butterfly tattoo bleeds when the wearers might be doing something contraindicated by Death Chick, have any of you noticed (as I did) that LCJake's tattoo doesn't bleed when he and Lucia are kissing or making love?
What to make of it? Is Death Chick in favor of vengeance at any cost or that she's really promoting Jake's feelings of attraction and love for Lucia, while he, himself covers those feelings when he's talking to Camilo about getting the vengeance started. Hmmmm.
Of course, it doesn't bleed when he is getting closer to his 3 children. Eva is the one who needs the most straightening out. Does he see himself as he used to be in Eva, I wonder.
Does anyone remember the last circumstance in which his tattoo bled?
Can't argue with that.
