Caray, Caray!

Frida and Susana immediately go over to Eugenio to try to change the topic while Dani wants to know why he is asking for Blanca.  Frida comes up with the excuse that he thought they were video chatting with Blanca since they were planning on video calling her and Robert after the party. Linda checks with Eugenio to make sure that is what it was. Eugenio says yes. Frida quickly decides it is time to take pictures of everyone.

Catalina, Hugo and Tavo arrive next.  Catalina is so happy to be there until Imelda reminds her that she already knows what she thinks of her young boyfriend. Everybody moans. Diana says they have some news. Imelda  asks if she is pregnant. When the answer is no, Imelda tells her it's time she had some children. She isn't getting any younger.  Everyone groans again.  Linda tells Imelda that a woman is not more valuable just because she has children.  Imelda feels picked on and says if they do not want to hear her opinion then  it is better that she go to her room. Susana asks her to stay and if they cannot they all have an agreeable time together.  Imelda says not in this building. Nonno offers to leave with Imelda. She is going to take him on a tour of the building. When she is gone,  Hugo announces that he got promoted to principal at the school.


Susana announces the next activity at the party.  They are going to have a "Calaverita" (literaria) competition. (a "calaverita literaria" is a short poem written for The Day of the Dead/ "calaverita" also means "little skull"). They are to pick a partner to write their calaverita with.

On the tour, Imelda tells Nonno how her family has  become way too modern for her taste. Nonno sees a family changing with the passage of time as just normal. He adds that grandparents have to  be a beacon for the family. Nonno is sure  she is a brilliant light for all. She is flattered and asks if he is flirting.  He asks if that would be a crime with her being such a beauty . . . Audifaz and Tulio run into them in the hall. Nonno introduces himself and decides to leave Imelda with her sons and get back to the party. Audi and Tulio wonder what Nonno was up to. Imelda tells them it is none of their business.  She's old enough.

Everyone is working on their calaveritas with their partners. Problems keep brewing beyond Imelda. Catalina is at it with Diana and Ari cannot stand to see Temo with Diego.  Polita laughs and tells him he is jealous but Ari cannot find the humor.

Nonno arrives again this time escorting Guido into the party. Nonno introduces him to everyone. Everyone stops and stares at Guido. It is suddenly silent. Guido wonders what is going on. Gabriel says that Guido looks good and explains that they are working on calaveritas.  A calaverita  is a  type of Mexican poem whose theme is related to death. Guido smiles.  Fridasays she finds Guido's makeup really scary. Ari adds that it looks like he went overboard. Julio thinks it looks cool.  He looks like he is ready for Halloween.  Guido asks if he made a mistake. Dani tries to make him feel better and say not at all. It is just that he looks a little like a villain.  Guido explains that he is as good as gold. Susana invites him to write but Guido asks for some water first and goes with Linda into the kitchen where she tells him all about her living in Italy.  She never knew Gabriel had a cousin. They talk about going into business and family problems when you depend on your family to support you.  He asks what is in the clay pot on the stove.  Linda tells him it is Mexican chocolate.  He says asks if EVERYONE will be drinking it.  She says yes and asks him to help her bring it into the dining room.  As she bends down to  to look for a tray, he takes out the hidden packet, empties it into the hot chocolate and mixes it very well.

Imelda complains to Audi and Julio about Susana wanting to "unite" the family.  Give her a break! It was Susana and her mother who were responsible for dividing them. Audi tries to explain it is not Susana's fault. She is their half-sister. She moves on to criticize Catalina and then Temo. Audi says she knows he does not agree with Temo's sexual preference but he lost his marriage already trying to follow the right path.  Tulio says Audi will avoid more problems because he will be living with him.  Imelda doesn't like that because the building was meant for her sons so if Polita wants to continue to live there is that state of debauchery, she is going to need to start PAYING because she is no longer a part of the family. If Audi doesn't put his ex-wife out, she will. Tulio asks if she cannot wait until at least the party is over. She agrees to control herself being the decent woman she is but she is the one who is running this family!

EVERYONE is drinking the the hot chocolate at the party. Susana wants to begin the calaverita competition but Pancho  has an announcement first.   He and Susana are ALMOST novios.  They all laugh except Imelda who says it should but doesn't really surprise her with them being just another "modern" family in the world.  Pancho explains how the kids want  to be sure that she and Pancho know each other well enough and are compatible before becoming novios again.  Imelda agrees that many couples don't last because they do not know each other well enough. Nonno readily agrees with her but sometimes love conquers all.  Everyone offers to help out with Susana's and Pancho's  wedding.  Susana reminds them that marriage isn't to be taken lightly and the kids remind them that Pancho and Susana will have to pass the tests first.

As the competition is about to start for real, Susana and Pancho realize that they never thought about prizes. Nonno says if the winner is an adult, he will give them a coupon bottle of mezcal from his future distillery. Guido explains that they are starting a mezcal distillery. Imelda isn't participating but is up for taking Eugenio's mezcal if he wins.   As for the kids,  Sebas will donate a video game, Dani an alebrije, Linda an accessory  Ari a piano lesson . . . They all cheer.

They all read their calaveritas.  Dani and Gabriel read their poem about waiting for their "tres ositos" three little bears) . The kids decide that Dani and Gabriel are the winners.  Gabriel says it is an honor to be the winners and reminds them to  drink Eugenio's chocolate before it gets cold.  Everyone oasts to everyone's health.  Nonno and Guido need to leave for business at the distillery.  Nonno bids farewell to Imelda who eats it up.

Nonno and Guido runs into Crisanta in the hall who wonders what they are doing there and if they are friends of that insipid blonde who lives there. Guido tells her that they are part Gabriel's family.
Crisanta asks Nonno, the man who makes her sigh,  what his name is.  He is not telling so she will keep thinking of him. She wonders if he is a part of the Italian mafia and what he is hiding.  He is as free as the wind.  He wants to set up a coffee date where he can reveal all of his secrets to her.  She answers "OH!" (the famous "OH!" of Carmen Salinas) She likes that and hands him a business card so he knows who she is.  Nonno bids farewell calling her princess. Crisanta prays to God that he doesn't have a wife n Oaxaca. That would be just too much!

Back at the party, Sebas sings "La llorona" and everyone applauds.  Crisanta makes her presence known and she and Imelda are at it immediately. Crisanta tells her she is there at the invitation of her daughter and if Imelda remembers that did share the same husband that they are celebrating today. Imelda insists that none of this would be happening if her daughter Susana didn't continue the absurd promise of trying to unify both of the Córcega families. Imelda is ready to just go to her room.She is tired of being there.  The party starts to break up.

Crisanta takes Susana and Pancho into the kitchen. She wants to know why Susana promised to get the families unified without consulting her.  Susana explain's it was her father's last wish.  Crisanta finds it the most absurd thing ever since she should have known that she and Imelda will never be at peace.  Will Susana just please understand that already? It will never ever happen. She feels that Susana must have some reason for betraying her like she is, what is it?  Susana cannot tell her. Crisanta cannot believe that her own daughter isn hiding things from he.  Pancho asks her not to take it like that. Crisanta makes it clear that she also trusted him.  Crisanta is going to talk to Canuto at his ofrenda and let him know that the family is breaking apart because him.  Pancho goes after Crisanta. Susana is left alone crying when Imelda, Tulio, Eugenio and Audi come in. Imelda tells Susana that she is tired of her always making her look like she is the "bad" one. Why should Imelda have to hide in her own home? Susana starts to answer when Imelda cuts her off and says she wants Susana and Eugenio to tell her what is going on. She knows they have a secret.

Diego and Ari have a showdown in the hall. Temo tries to get in between them when Ari tells him it is between him and Diego. Diego tells Ari the reason he is upset over him and Temo is because Ari is a coward. Ari punches him in the head. Diego runs into the apartment as Temo and Ari follow.   Temo gets in between them but Diego still manages to punch Ari in the stomach. The brawl continues and the kids cheer them on. Ari throws a soft drink in Diego's face and he cannot see where he is but chases after Ari the best he can.  When he can see,  Diego manages to throw a soft drink in Ari's face and now he cannot see.  Pancho and Crisanta hear the noise and go to the apartment to find out what is going on.  Crisanta walks into the apartment with Pancho behind her.   Ari, who cannot see,  punches Temo (who he thinks is Diego)  who falls on Crisanta (who is behind him) who falls on Pancho(who is behind her) just like dominos.

Gabriel never thought that a Catrina party would end up in a fight. Dani says, truth be told, you never know with her family.  Gabriel starts to wax poetic about how wonderful their family is going to be when Dani suddenly is in terrible pain.   Gabriel calls for Linda. The  pain subsides. Dani apologizes for the scare. She and Linda think that maybe she ate too much. Linda is going to make her some tea like Blanca used to make for them when they had a tummy ache.

Imelda wants to know if Susana sees herself as a "sister of charity". Why else would she bother to want to unite the two families?  Susana says because she is a sister to Imelda's sons. Imelda asks why the sudden interest in Eugenio.  Susana explains that Blanca isn't here and he is her brother. Siblings should care for each other, right? Eugenio agrees. Linda comes in to tell them that Dani had a pain but now they can just go on with their fight. Susana states that after all they have been though in  the past months they should know they can achieve more by being united.   Imelda knows Robert said the very same thing but it is a very complicated or rather impossible mission because nobody or nothing will ever make her ingratiate herself to Crisanta.

At Pancho's, Crisanta is sprawled on the couch recuperating and Pancho is lecturing Diego and Ari that nothing is settled by fighting. They left Crisanta like a sandwich.  Both Ari and Diego want to tend to Temo's bruises but Pancho puts the two punished "burros" in their  own corners facing the wall.

Nonno is expressing his vision of the distillery to Guido. It won't be just a business but a way of life. They can deliver a 100% Mexican product all over the world. Guido asks him to trust him and together they can achieve it.  Guido is eager to show him how much he has learned from him and is ready to take charge of all of Nonno's businesses.  Nonno hopes so but they cannot get ahead of themselves.  Nonno still has a lot of life left in him and they are going to get a lot of help from Gabriel. Guido is surprised. Nonno says he also wants to hire another person to help out Guido. Guido wants to know why he isn't good enough all by himself for his Nonno. Nonno explains that Guido is young and is in the process of learning. Guido needs experience.  They need an expert mezcal maker from Oaxaca who can guide them through all of the steps in their mezcal production.

Dan and Gabriel are in the kitchen as Linda makes hierba buena tea for Dani. They discuss the event planning business.

Temo comes out without his makeup and  Pancho says he looks perfect  for The Day of the Dead with his two black eyes. Julio thinks he looks like a panda.  Diego and Ari apologize. One blames the other. Temo tells them both to just cut it and that violence always brings consequences. Crisanta still feels dizzy. Ari apologizes.  Pancho suggests Crisanta stay there until she feels better. Diego offers to sleep in Temo's room. Pancho doesn't think so. He wasn't born yesterday. He holds smelling salts up to Crisanta's nose as he and Julio chant breathe in, breathe out. Diego and Ari are still  arguing as they both try to put ice on Temo's bruised face. Temo tells them that's enough already.

Out in the hall, Susana talks with Eugenio.  She is not comfortable telling lies and thinks maybe the time has come for him to be honest with his family and tell them the truth: at least his mother. Eugenio worries about Imelda because she has a bad heart. Susana tells him that the good news that her friend Grecia will be coming own from Baja California to help him with his illness.  She is a specialist. She wants him to remember that she and Pancho are there to support him and  care for him. She also loves him.
