Amar a Muerte, 2/28/2019, Episode 80: And the Truth Shall Set You Free…or NOT!
Previously: Lucía
sent a message to LCJ that she has come to a decision and needs to talk to him
right away. Mateo caught up with Eva as she was leaving Alacrán’s hideout.
Eva’s lies didn’t help a bit; Mateo knows she’s been coming to see Alacrán.
Eva nervously stutters,
so Mateo tells her not to deny it. Eva insists that she isn’t denying anything
because she isn’t doing anything. Mateo knows she was with El Alacrán, the mob
boss of the Cartel de los Sierra. Eva shushes him and tells him to calm down;
she has no idea where he gets his ideas. When Mateo asks what she was doing
there, Eva tells him she will explain…she continues with her pathetic story of
getting lost; so Mateo orders her to stop and asks why she continues her lies.
Eva wants him to stop yelling at her; and when he insists that she has been
going there to see Alacrán with whom she gets along very well, Eva turns around
and gets in her car because it is very dangerous there. Mateo tries to stop
her, but she forces the door closed and drives off.
At the company, Johny is talking
to Magda, his secretary, and adamantly reminding her that he had some extra
work (on the day Susana was killed) and they both stayed there. Magda
hesitantly agrees that it may have been that way and asks why what he did that
day is so important. Johny, quick thinking on his feet, tells her that he had a
very important meeting that day which he didn’t attend…and they don’t believe
that he was working late. If someone happens to ask her, she should tell them
the ‘truth’…that they both stayed there working. This is life and death Maggie, his life and
your death if you don't lie for him.
At the Carvajal house,
Renata and Guille arrive. Guille wonders if Renata is going to continue giving
him the silent treatment. Renata just needs some time…since Mayela is too much
to take. Guille sits her down and wonders how he can make her understand that
there is nothing going on between him and Mayela (not letting Mayela hug and
kiss you would be a good start, Gullible!); it is only a friendship. Renata
understands that perfectly, but what Guille doesn’t understand is that Mayela
is not a white dove; Renata knows the type of woman Mayela is and she is not
going to rest until she gets her way. Guille thinks that in order for Mayela to
get her way, he would have to agree with it, which he isn’t. They both start
rambling in disagreement until Guille decides to go for a run and asks Silvina
to make Renata something to eat. After Guille leaves, Renata notices that
Silvina is uncomfortable and asks what is wrong. Silvina responds that she can
make Renata whatever she likes…but the Sra. Eva asked her to serve her in the
kitchen. Renata tells Silvina not to worry; she doesn’t have to make her
anything…and if Guille asks for her, Silvina is to tell him that she went out.
Alicia takes Cami to the
sanatorium to meet Micaela. Micaela doesn’t seem too keen about talking to
Cami, the doctor. Alicia explains that Cami has been doing some research on the
transmigration of souls. Micaela wonders if Cami comes for answers or to ask questions,
so Cami responds that he is there because he needs answers. Micaela still
doesn’t look too excited about the idea.
At Silvina’s house,
Beltrino is looking for some more liquor. When he finds a bottle, he wonders if
Lupita has been drinking with Panchito. Lupita responds that it’s none of his
business and asks why he is there. Beltrino replies that he came to visit his
family and takes a swig of liquor. Lupita chides him and tells him to go with
his new wife and sick son. Beltrino hisses that what he thinks is that she is
still hot and lunges toward her.
At Renata’s apartment,
Keila thinks Renata should tell Guille about the insulting thing Eva did to
her. Renata thinks Guille has too many problems already without having to worry
him about this…she hopes they won’t have to stay in that house for too long.
She is very uncomfortable there and is afraid she’ll break something that she
can’t pay for with her salary. What amazes Renata is that Eva thinks she is
right. Renata wants a more simple life. Keila reminds her that the important
thing is that she and Guille want to be together. Renata fears that her
relationship is doomed to fail. With a
Carvajal? Psha, ask Mateo.
At Silvina’s house,
Beltrino has Lupita pinned to the wall and is forcing himself on her as she
yells at him to stop and tries to push him off. Juls gets the bottle of liquor
and smashes it on Beltrino’s head knocking him out. Lupita and Juls gasp as
they wonder if Beltrino is dead. Girls,
if a butterfly tries to land, ...duck.
Montilla is walking
toward the place where he is supposed to meet LCJ. Through his hidden mic, he
tells his men to be alert; El Chino might appear at any moment…he doesn’t want
him to get away. While Montilla waits and looks around, LCJ surprises Lucía as
she walks outside the Carvajal house. She asked to see him and he wants to know
what decision she has made. Lucía finds it very hard to make a decision; she
has seriously considered leaving everything and going with him, but she doesn’t
know what to expect from him. She doesn’t know whether to call him Jacobo or
Chino; and she doesn’t know what his intentions are if he has a wife and
daughter…she needs answers. LCJ assures
her that he will give her answers and everything will be clear to her. He wonders
if she knows what it is that he feels for her. Lucía doesn’t know; she is
losing control over everything around her. She doesn’t know if it’s destiny,
but now she has her mother there at the house. LCJ is surprised since Lucía had
told him she was an orphan. Lucía confesses that it’s a very long story which
has only brought her problems. Making a
decision right now is not easy; she doesn’t know who to believe. She doesn’t
know if she should believe in LCJ or if the life he is offering is one in which
she will always be hiding like a fugitive.
At Silvina’s house,
Lupita and Juls are in a panic since there is much blood spilled behind
Beltrino’s head. Juls wonders if he is dead; she didn’t mean to do this; she
just wanted him to leave Lupita alone. But our 'Everybody's fault but mine' twins
are not that concerned about having possibly just committed murder. Lupita yells at Juls who runs off to get
something to help Beltrino. Lupita cries and kneels beside Beltrino hoping that
he doesn’t die there. Keyword....THERE.
At the park, Montilla gets
tired of waiting for LCJ to show up and tells his men that they should leave;
El Chino made fools of them. As he walks away, a street vendor stops him, hands
him a box, and rushes away. Montilla opens the box to find a note. Meanwhile,
Fabricio is still pointing his gun at LCJ as Lucía asks him what he is doing.
LCJ thinks Fab is looking for a raise. Lucía tells Fab to lower his gun. When
Fab insists that the authorities are looking for LCJ, Lucía sternly tells him
that the only authority there is her; so he needs to lower his gun. After she
pushes his arm down and tells him that is enough, she orders him to leave them
alone…and he’d better not say anything.
Like “Give me your phone so I can erase Johny from your contacts.”
At the company, Johny is
in his office telling (no)S-Bueno’s assistant about his conversation with
Montilla, including that he was told not to leave the country. Assistant tells him that that is not good and
that the investigation cannot be linked with the candidate. Johny knows that
very well and that is why he told him everything; Johny needs his help. The
assistant responds that, unfortunately, under these conditions, they cannot
help him. Johny questions why they can’t help him if they are a team. The assistant
agrees…as long as Johny had everything under control. He reminds Johny that
this whole scheme was to boost Sanchez-Bueno’s candidacy to the presidency.
Until Johny resolves this situation, their alliance is discontinued. Sniff, sniff, uff, do you smell something?
On the Carvajal grounds,
Lucía wants one reason why she should believe LCJ. LCJ could give her several
reasons, but right now, all he can give her is his word. Lucía reminds him that
he has always lied to her with his words. After LCJ counters that he is not the
only one who has lied, he tells Lucía that he wants to take her somewhere; and
when she gets there, she will understand everything. Lucía tells him to wait
for her there.
At the park, Montilla
walks as her reads LCJ’s note: I can
imagine your disappointment in being stood up, but you can imagine my
disappointment when I found out that you set a trap for me. The idea of going
to jail does not agree with me, especially when I am innocent….because I am
innocent. Why? Because I am not El Chino Valdez even though my face says the
contrary. I am not Jacobo Reyes either; I am someone else, but that explanation
requires a long conversation and, even better, over some drinks. Please play
fair in our next encounter, Inspector. In the meantime, don’t waste your time
looking for me. The real criminals in this story are much closer than you
think, in front of your nose, Montilla. You’re a cop so pay attention to your
intuition. For now, I leave with a name: Johny Corona, CEO of Grupo Carvajal.
Think about that name, Inspector. After he finishes reading, Montilla
grumbles, “Johny Corona! I knew it!”
Welcome to the patio, Monty.
At the company, Johny is
on the phone with Fab who has already spilled his guts. Johny can’t believe he
let LCJ go, so Fab asks him what he was supposed to do since the Señora told
him to leave them alone…there was nothing he could do. When Johny asks where
Jacobo is, Fab replies that he doesn’t know. Johny is pacing furiously as he
tells Fab to go do his job and look to see what they are doing.
At the sanatorium, Cami
notes that Micaela has the butterfly just like all the others. Micaela wonders
if she’s crazy; so Cami assures her she isn’t and adds that not all the
patients there are crazy. Micaela agrees since she knows that there are people
there who are senile, sick or crippled…it’s a “court of miracles.” Cami looks
confused so Alicia explains that “court of miracles” is a literary term.
Micaela rambles about a novel and how she sang beautifully until she notices the
looks on Alicia’s and Cami’s faces. She insists that she is not crazy; so they
assure her she isn’t. In fact, Cami is fascinated with her and would like to
talk to her some more…he would like to perform a hypnotic regression on her.
Vale is sitting in the
living room looking catatonic when Guille comes in. He knows she went to
Lucho’s funeral and asks how things went. Vale isn’t sure how it was because
she just can’t believe Lucho is dead. Guille assures her that he will stay
there for as long as she needs him. Vale realizes that she has been
concentrating only on herself and asks Guille how he is doing. Guille finds it
difficult to think that he left Toño in jail, but they are trying to help him
get out. After she asks about Renata and he tells her she is at her apartment,
Guille suggests that they watch reruns all afternoon. Vale smiles and agrees.
At the Carvajal house, Mateo demands to know why Eva ran off from where he found her. Eva wonders why he is doing this to her; she is pregnant! Mateo doesn’t want her bringing that up right now; and Eva wants him to lower his voice because others will hear them, but Mateo doesn’t care if they hear that a Carvajal is involved with a criminal. Eva retorts that she doesn’t know how he dares to connect her to a criminal. She wonders if he has forgotten that she is a married, decent woman from good family. Mateo hasn’t forgotten; he thought that was who she was and that she was worthy of being her father’s daughter. She should be ashamed of what she has done to her father’s last name. Eva tries to run off, but Mateo pulls her back and tells her she isn’t leaving until he has finished (‘Bout time Mateo! Tighten those pants!) He continues that he loves her; he always thought she was an honest woman with integrity…and it’s all a lie. He’s been going around like a stupid fool investigating the money laundering between the company and the Cartel and thinking that it was Lucía and Johny. He showed her the evidence and she played along that it was them, lying to his face because it turns out that all the while, it was her. Eva hopes he is done, but he isn’t. Mateo tells her, “All I needed was to find out who, at the Carvajal Group, was behind the money laundering…What you don’t know is that this was not the first time I was on that street; it wasn’t the first time I was at that place, but do you want to know what I saw the first time I was there? I saw you, Eva; I saw you with El Alacrán. I saw you looking into his eyes and asking him not to die, begging him not to die because (Mateo wipes his tears away) you loved him. I saw you. My heart broke seeing you in love with another man. It’s not even that you’re in love with someone else…that you’re in love with him; it’s that you’re in love with that criminal.” Eva tries to hold Mateo and cries that things are not that way, but Mateo pushes her away and asks how things are. Eva tries to explain that it was the circumstances; so Mateo chides her for trying to make him believe that it wasn’t her fault. Eva again tries to hold him as she tells him that it is difficult to explain, but Mateo pushes her away once more and tells her that it should be easy to explain.
At Silvina’s house, Loopy
has told Panchito what happened. He goes at Beltrino and plants a quick right
hook into his face. As the ladies watch, Beltrino fights back and punches
PancHITo several times until Beltrino realizes what he is doing and stops
himself as he grunts in frustration and anger.
After he helps Panchito up, he
trudges away and stops by the ladies who look horrified. He hopes that they can
forgive him…for everything. Especially
for beating up a kid.
Back with Mat and Eva,
Eva wonders how Mat can think that of her. When Mat asks if she was sleeping
with both of them, Eva cries as she denies it. Mat pleads with her to stop
lying; now he knows why she didn’t want to sleep with him. After Mat asks her
point blank if she slept with El Alacrán, Eva finally admits that she did with
a simple “Yes.” Um...there really is no
such thing as 'Sort of' anyway.
At the sanatorium,
Micaela has always been curious about hypnotic regression, though a little
scared, but she read some books and found that her perception of hypnosis was
incorrect. After Cami suggests that she read his book and she agrees, Micaela
also agrees to undergo the hypnosis. Alicia is confused, so Cami explains what
he is able to do with hypnosis. Micaela will have to go to Cami’s office for
the session, so he will talk to the director about getting permission for
Micaela to leave the hospital for the necessary time.
At Silvina’s house, Loopy
doesn’t see how she can ask for a divorce from a transmigrant. Juls comments
about how long Loopy searched for El Chino just to find this. Loopy thinks they
were better off before. Pancho thinks that Beltrino still considers them his
property, but Loopy decisively tells him that they are not and they made that
clear to Beltrino. Neither Juls nor Loopy want him in their lives. When Loopy
suggests that they talk to Beltrino to tell him, Juls points out that El Chino
will not care what they want; he’ll probably lose it if he finds out that they
don’t want to see him again. Juls thinks it’s best to leave without letting
Beltrino know…the further the better. When Loopy agrees, Pancho doesn’t look
too pleased and walks away as Loopy watches him.
At the Carvajal house,
Mat tells Eva how he first discovered that she was seeing El Alacrán; it was at
the hotel. When Eva arrived, Mat followed her; his world fell apart knowing
that she was dealing with those criminals. When he wonders if Eva is in love
with El Alacrán (you’re a disappointment, Mat, if you still have to ask that),
Eva asks him not to say that. Mateo reminds her that he saw her declaring her
love to Alacrán and telling him that if he died, she wanted to die too. Eva
pleads with Mat to forgive her. He asks what it is that he did wrong since the
only thing he has done is love her and take care of her…and she was rolling
around with him. Mat wants to understand what Eva was going on in her head and
in her heart. When he asks how he failed her, Eva cries that it wasn’t his
fault.
Eva finally explains: “One day, I received an anonymous message at the
office. They were offering me a super deal which involved a tremendous amount
of money. I could finally be independent from the Carvajal Group and my father;
something I had always wanted. I could finally be the owner of an empire and
stop being my father’s daughter; I could be completely independent. Then I went
to meet that person.” Flashback: Alacrán
comes down the stairs of a hotel to meet a very young Eva. The man introduces
himself as Emiliano Alvarez; he’s the one who arranged the meeting. Eva didn’t
know what she was doing there since she never pays attention to anonymous
messages. When Alacrán wonders why she went, Eva responds that it was possibly
intuition. Alacrán thinks it was because of ambition. Eva agrees; the reasoning
he gave was very convincing. She also agrees that there is nothing like the
smell of money. Alacrán starts his seduction by telling her that he didn’t
expect to be dealing with such a beautiful woman. Mat wonders how Eva could
go so low; Eva doesn’t know how it happened either. They sit and have drinks. Alacrán continues complimenting Eva on her
beauty which hypnotizes him. Eva asks why Alacrán wants to deal with them if he
already has so much money. Alacrán replies that it’s so much money that they
just can’t handle it on their own anymore. He doesn’t like banks because they
want too much control; with her company, things will be much easier. Eva needs
to know more. When she asks where the money comes from, Alacrán doesn’t
hesitate to reply, “Drugs.” Eva starts to get up, but when she sees Gancho and
friend approach with guns hidden under their shirts, she stays put as Alacrán
tells her to remain calm; he is sure that after he explains everything, they
will leave there being partners. Mat wonders why Eva didn’t tell him or her
father; they would have helped her. Eva couldn’t because Alacrán threatened to
kill them. Mat wonders if part of the deal was that she had to sleep with
Alacrán. Eva tells him it wasn’t part of the deal and doesn’t want to continue,
but Mat insists that they will continue until they get to the bottom of this.
Eva doesn’t want to continue; he doesn’t know how she has suffered all these Y
E A R S, Mat is appalled, “YEARS…You’ve been cheating on me for years.” Eva insists that it has been hell for her. Mat
wonders if Alacrán forced her to fall in love with him. Eva replies, “Of course
not, but…I don’t know…he gave me things that I never found in you. I fell in
love." There you have it Mat....now
kill her.
At Silvina’s house, Loopy
and Juls are getting ready to leave; they’ll get whatever ticket they can get
out of there. Pancho approaches and tells Loopy that they don’t have to leave
the city to get away from Beltrino. Loopy thinks that if they don’t leave now,
that man might come back and move in. Pancho asks for one day to get them a
place; the city is huge. All they need to do is go to another precinct and he
won’t ever find them. Loopy feels that if they don’t leave now, Beltrino will
find them; and she wants a new life. Pancho wants to be part of that new life.
After he points out that if they leave the city, they will be alone and start
from zero, Pancho asks if she wants to get away from those who love them. Juls
approaches and agrees with Pancho; what she said before was foolish; they don’t
even have any money to go to another city.
Johny drives into the
Carvajal driveway in a craze and asks Fabricio where Lucía and LCJ are. Fab
doesn’t know, but he does know that they are not at the house. One of the
watchmen told Fab that he had seen her leave the back way…in a car…with LCJ.
Meanwhile, LCJ and Lucía are walking into a theater; LCJ wonders if she
recognizes it. When Lucía tells him it’s her theatre, LCJ clarifies that it
belongs to the Carvajal Group. Lucía think it’s all the same. After they enter
the theater room, LCJ stands in the middle among the seats and reminds her that
the last time, she didn’t understand why they were dressed so elegantly only to
come to the theater; they were supposed to go out to dinner. Lucía wonders what
game LCJ is playing. LCJ is not playing; he is trying to give her some
answers. He guides her to where they sat
the last time as he describes how they entered eating popcorn; they were late.
Lucía still wonders what all this is about.
LCJ replies that this is
the truth…it is their truth. This is where they sat. LCJ signals the technician
who starts playing the recording León used to ask her to marry him.
Johny is driving
furiously as he asks someone to track Lucía’s phone and tell him where she is;
she is in a lot of danger right now and the person he called could be the one
to save her life.
At the theater, Lucía
questions where LCJ got the recording. LCJ responds that the recording is his
and that is why he saved it. Lucía wonders if he also worked in the projection
room. LCJ knows that this is very difficult to understand; he was sitting there
beside her while he asked her to marry him through that screen. Lucía cries as
she wonders if LCJ is going crazy; the person who brought her to this theater
was León Carvajal; the man who asked her to marry him was León Carvajal. She
wonders if LCJ wants to drive her crazy. LCJ wants to tell her the truth; and
he will explain what this surprise is about so that she will understand. He
asks, “Do you know how I know so much about León Carvajal? Why I am a friend of
Camilo Guerra? And how I know perfectly well that to make an origami, scissors
can’t be used? Why I worried when Guille was put in jail and why I sent you
anonymous messages? Don’t stop looking into my eyes. I am not El Chino Valdez
and I am not Jacobo Reyes. I am the person who has loved you most in this life;
the person who loved you when he was alive and who continues to love you after
death. Hey, I am León Carvajal.” Lucía, terrified, stares into his eyes
dumbfounded by what she just heard. (And
now I want you to join me in Death? Just
Kidding)

Wow Rgv Chick. You got a blockbuster of an episode and did it justice. Wonderful screencaps also.
I find adulterous confessions very painful. And is it any wonder that the cheater focuses on himself...as in "oh how I've suffered! leading this double life... It's been horrible."
And thoughtful Eva added insult to injury by stating "he gave me things you couldn't". Our gal not only broke Mateo's heart, she's now eviscerating him bit by bit.
But choosing to cheat is the ultimate in Selfish.(I want what I want no matter how much it will hurt others when discovered.) So no wonder that the selfishness goes on, even when the cheating is revealed.
And I'm always amused when people ask "Why did you cheat?" People cheat because they want to. New romances and passions are exciting. The more interesting question is "Why do you remain faithful even when there are other exciting partners around who are interesting. What values keep you holding to your vows?"
The scenes of Beltrino drunk were interesting as was his prompt admission of guilt. He at least is changing. And loved your description of Pancho:
"Beltrino goes to look in the mirror and stands there disappointed in himself. Panchito then walks in and asks what happened. Oh Great just what we need! The part timer is here."
Yes, Pancho the part timer. Between his job and chasing after Lupita, does he ever see his kids? Another candidate for the Mariposa Life Lesson in my books.
Just gasped when Silvina told Renata she would have to eat in the kitchen. Mind you, I would much rather be in the kitchen with Silvina than out in those cavernous rooms all alone at a big table. And Leon clearly had no trouble hanging out with Silvina and munching on tomatoes and talking about life. But Eva's snobbism and cruelty is staggering. Not able to find any redeeming qualities in this character. And believe me I've tried.
Whew...this story stirs up a multitude of emotions. Very powerful. Thanks again Rgv Chick.
Wishing the Patio a great day. Lovely snow here. Just enough to frost the bushes and trees but not enough to make the highways dangerous. But a big snow is coming this weekend. Maybe I'll watch re-runs of Amar a Muerte!

And poor old stupid hurting Mateo has not even called the cops yet. She does not love you, the baby has a 1% chance of being yours based on activity, and she is a criminal who is in a drug cartel. Call ther popo, or at least Monty.
Where is his rage? If it were these hillbillies here in Florida, he would have already killed her with his bare hands.
Is there any rational way Lucia can not see that Jocobo LCJ is actually a repackaged Leon?
And where is his revenge plan hiding? He was as lovey dovey last night as the first time she had him wrapped around her little lying cheating murderous finger. He has learned nothing. Let Lucia get all in, then take him back Death Chick. Can't fix stupid.

Anon, there are a few characters that I can not stand to watch and Fabricio is one of them. He's a worthless, bothersome gnat that just won't go away.
It was definitely a good episode, but somewhat exasperating as I watched the two numbnuts, Mat and LCJ professing their continued love for the skanks.
JudyB, " Our gal not only broke Mateo's heart, she's now eviscerating him bit by bit." She certainly was, but he asked for it. I just wanted to shake Mat. Why ask for more torture? He should have walked out as soon as she admitted cheating on him and as Kirby suggests, call the cops...not only on Eva but on Alacran too. He knows very well that the cops are looking for Alacran; why hasn't he called to let them know where he is? Oh, wait, I know, they need to prolong our agony! Ughhh!
Though I didn't enjoy watching Beltie lose it and revert to his old self, I think it served it's purpose--to show that Beltie is really changing. El Chino would have never stopped beating on Pancho; he would have killed him. I'm sure he lost a lot of points with Death Chick.
Pancho, the part-timer, wants to get Loopy and Juls a place to live?? With what money? I keep racking my brain trying to figure out what he sees in sulky Loopy...other than the physical aspect, she would really be a ball and chain for him.

Susanlynn, Thank you for sharing that beautiful quote. And, no, that kind of love is becoming extinct in the TNs. I suppose "true, devoted, lasting love" doesn't bring in good ratings...que lastima!
The revenge plan: Yeah, except for giving lip service to his two salvageable kids, Gullible and Val(ley of Sorrow) he has given a whole lot more than LIP service (See above--plan hiding place) to his lying cheating murderer-hiding former spouse. And by the way, this thing he is trying to remarry is carrying more baggage than a flight headed for London.

I just started re-reading the recap and noticed the title, Truth will set you free...But in Eva's case, she should be under the jail soon. Like last year. #NotSoFree.
And RGV you make a good point, why does NuttyMat not turn in Alacran? He has to be one of the most wanted. Or at least let Montillo start secretly watching him to catch HIS boss.

Eva is probably the type who gets off on defiance. She didn't want to work at Groupo Carvajal in the first place so despite the risks she was getting off on defying Daddy and convention by laundering money for the cartel. Emiliano (El Alacran) was clever in his initial approach: Dressing well, displaying his best manners, and coming on with just the right level of flattery. He is exactly what Leon would never have approved of due to other, invisible factors as well as how he makes his dinero. That is what floats Eva's boat. Mateo is the opposite in that he works for the company, probably comes from a decent family, and presented no adrenaline rush after the luna de miel.
Eva was not looking at the long-term consequence of her actions, which is that she was never going to be free of the cartel. We can't even be sure that it will be taken down by the finale.

No, I don't want Johny to get smushed by an anvil just yet. I want him to need another box of Depends. Watching him lose control of that which he thought was not just essential to his future, but near and dear to him, has been refreshing. Manipulating a national election, making money illicitly off his former mentor's company and keeping his former mentor's wife while heading and controlling the reins of said company has been his forever goal. 'Taint happening, buddy. Not with Montilla beginning to sniff around (poor dear).
How many times have we seen an arrogant, self-centered, successful, attractive, powerful antagonista at the top of her game, suddenly lose her footing on the ladder of life, turn into a slobbering mess and declaring, "It wasn't my fault." Mateo dragged it out as long as he could (too long for my viewing pleasure) but in the end he pulled her completely off that ladder. Will he do the right thing? We all want HIM to call Montilla on Eva and "Emiliano." But will he--the sap may just decide she's been punished enough, cried a river of tears and welcomes her back into his arms. It should take more than that.
And what of our little Renata? Will Spineless Joe Jackson Guillable realize he's not fit for her? Is he too much of a Carvajal to put Mayela in her place and be willing to live a more modest life? Meanwhile, will Mateo's words echo more loudly for him to come back to his father's company and save it?
