Amar a Muerte, 3/6/2019, Episode 84: At Carvajal there is Good News, and Baaaaaad News

The good news is, Daddy is back, the bad news is Sister is leaving.
Previously: Eva walked into the editing room and saw everyone watching the special report on HER!

Eva tells Palomarez to turn off the television, she frantically tells everyone not to believe everything they see. Everything is false, they know she wouldn’t do something like that. She is going to sue that TV station for slandering her. She then orders everyone to get to work instead of standing around gossiping.

At Silvina’s house, Beltrino bangs on the door as he holds a bouquet of fresh flowers in his other hand. He yells out to Loopy and Juls. He knows she is angry, but he wants to talk it out. Just then, Tiberio arrives and tells him that they no longer live there, they left the city. Meanwhile, in their apartment, Lupita and Juls are washing dishes as Lupita confides in Juls that she dreamed of her father…it was odd…and erotic. Juls wonders how Lupita can be having erotic dreams of her father when she saw her on the couch with Pancho. Lupita reiterates that that is why it is odd, but it is one thing she and El Chino did very well. Juls is disgusted that Lupita may still be in love with El Chino. Ha ! Everybody else is.

At Barb’s house, Sergio whispers to Val and asks if the lady might take too long. Val is mesmerized by Barb who tells them that their friend is there. Val says, “Hello!” Lucho, speaking through Barb, greets Val and asks Sergio to tell his father that he is the one who stole the money that was hidden within the ties. Sergio is flabbergasted and tells Val that really did happen. After Sergio agrees to talk to Lucho’s father, Lucho thanks him for being such a good friend and tells Val to stop blaming herself because he knew what he was doing, he is fine. Sergio and Val are curious about the afterlife and whether Lucho will return. Lucho doesn’t know, but it is different from anything Lucho had seen. After Lucho leaves, Barb is ecstatic that Lucho took over her body, she senses that Lucho was a pain (in the arse). Val then asks if she can contact her father, León Carvajal. Barb recognizes the name and panics. (Ooops, oops, oops...Barb pretends to try to contact León and tells them it is too difficult. As Barb tells Val that her father is a very special case, Death Chick approaches, looks closely at Val and then whispers in Barb’s ear. Barb then tells Val that the ancestral spirits have come...and they say that León’s spirit is still here, León Carvajal is still alive.

At Don Valerio’s house, Micaela knocks on the door and asks for the shaman. Don Valerio’s daughter tells her that her father died and asks that they not look for them.

At Barb’s place, Val is questioning Barb about not having more information. Barb explains that she only told them what the spirits told her. As they argue, Beltrino arrives and Val recognizes him as the one who paid for Lupita’s hospital room. When she tells Beltrino that she is Juls’s friend, Beltrino hugs her and tells her he has been looking for them.

As Cami and Alicia wait for LCJ and Micaela, Cami wonders how Alicia established a relationship with someone who was not her husband. Alicia doesn’t know. LCJ and Micaela then approach, and when LCJ tells them that the shaman died, Alicia tells them that the shaman that Beltrino contacted also died…and it was a horrible death.

At Barb’s house, Beltrino asks if Val knows where Juls is living. When Juls replies that she doesn’t know, Beltrino asks for Val’s number so he can contact her since he is very worried. After Val obliges, she and Sergio leave. Outside, Val tells Sergio that Beltrino is the one who was electrocuted, and she thinks it’s odd that Lupita and Juls would not tell him that they left. Sergio is tired of all the questions, so he calls Juls who answers and agrees to allow Sergio come see her. Sergio tells her he’ll be right over and will take a nice dessert for her.

At the Carvajal house, everyone listens to the news report about Eva. Lucía asks Guille if he knew about it. Guille can’t face her as he tells her the he needs to go talk to Eva.

In his hotel room, Mateo takes off his wedding band and throws it on the bed. He leaves it there as he grabs his bag and leaves the room.

At the company cafeteria, Renata and Keila are discussing the shocking news. Renata asks if Keila didn’t suspect anything, after all, she worked all day with Eva. She also worries that Keila may have signed something that could implicate her. Keila firmly denies it. Renata was in a meeting at her new job and overheard them saying that the Carvajal Group is at the point of collapsing due to the bad management under Eva and Lucía. Renata worries about Guille and what he is going through. Keila wonders how Mateo is dealing with all of this (He can use some consolation, Keila, go for it!).

Eva enters her office to find Johny waiting for her. Johny is very surprised at how she was able to con everyone. Eva assures him that all of this will get cleared up because what they are saying about her are lies. Johny sees that Eva is not going to change her ways. That image she wanted to give of being strong and having strong values went down the drain with what the world knows now…which is an image of a criminal. Eva insists that things will be set straight and Johny is going to eat his words. Johny wishes that Eva was right because she is like part of his family. When Johny mentions León, Eva tells him not to bring her father into this, but Johny argues that she was the one who brought her father into it and tainted his image. Eva belittles Johny for believing everything that the press says. Johny counters that it’s not the press who is saying it, it’s her husband. Johny then tells Eva that he will give her some time to gather her things and leave the company. (Or he can just have them shipped to her favorite JAIL.) Has everyone forgotten that sher has committed some serious crimes?

Cami, Micaela and LCJ return to Cami’s house. Micaela assures Cami that she can get back into the sanatorium without any problems, Chelita, the nurse, will help her. Micaela feels sorry for Alicia, it must not be easy being the wife of a transmigrant. After Micaela mentions how she admires Alicia for reading so much about the topic, Cami offers his book to Micaela. While he goes to get it, LCJ and Micaela sit down to chat. LCJ would have liked to talk to the shaman. Micaela thinks it may not have been good for LCJ. She explains that this second opportunity she has been given has brought her an inner peace. When LCJ asks why she was brought back, Micaela doesn’t know, but being in that body has helped her very much, there is nothing like death to show us the true meaning of life. LCJ asks what the true meaning of life is, but Micaela tells him not to give up the chance to find out for himself. Her previous life was a disaster, she was extremely arrogant. She thought she was better than everyone else just because she was famous. Death came and showed her that she was just a plain mortal. She went from grand stages and being in the limelight to that place where she now lives and is made fun of and thought to be crazy. When Micaela ends that death has been a great lesson on humility for her, LCJ comments that she may have had that lesson, but there may be a different lesson for him. Micaela suggests that maybe his former life torments him too much. As LCJ contemplates the idea, he gets the sudden pain on his side—from the stabbing that caused his death.

At Barb’s house, Beltrino is questioning Barb about Val. Suddenly, he feels the electric shock from his electrocution. Barba grabs him and shouts at him to calm down. When she comments that the attacks seem to be getting worse, Beltrino wonders, “Until when..?” Beltrino tries to speak but his words are all jumbled. Barb then tells him that her abilities have increased, she can now embody the spirits. It happened when his daughter’s friend was there, Val asked her to contact a friend who had just died and his spirit went inside her. Beltrino asks if Death Chick has returned, but she denies it.

Eva is in her office pouting when Barretos comes in, he has heard the news and has orders from Guille to protect her. Eva shouldn’t worry because he has already met with the team of attorneys and they are already working on the case. He has also denied access of all records to all types of media. When Eva asks what legal implications this may have and if she could end up in jail, Barretos responds that there hasn’t been any formal complaints brought against her. If there is no complaint filed, then this will just be a news report like any other. Meanwhile, Mat sits in Montilla’s office as Montilla complains to his subordinates about how long they are taking to get the results on the fingerprints. After he ends the call, they discuss Mat’s article. Mat is there to file a formal complaint against Eva Carvajal for money laundering. After he hands his evidence to Montilla, Montilla hesitates in looking at the evidence and asks Mat if he is sure he wants to do this. Mat confirms. Montilla still questions it since it is his wife he is turning in…and furthermore, in doing this, he will be in the sights of the Cartel de los Sierra. Mat emphasizes that he has been in their sights since he started writing that article, Eva has kept them informed of every move he has made. Montilla insists that this is dangerous and reminds Mat of what happened to Gastón. Mat remembers what happened to Gastón every day, that is why he had to get to the bottom of this no matter what the consequences…because Eva is responsible for Gastón’s death. Montilla concedes and adds that they will have to take precautionary measure because they will surely try to kill him. Mat responds that they have already tried... now they just need to proceed with this. Montilla wonders if Mat is prepared. Mat nods.

Lucía enters Johny’s office. Johny starts in about Eva getting herself into the world of crime. Lucía can’t believe it. Johny can’t believe it either, but thinks that news like that is very important for them…and not León’s transmigration. Lucía warns him not to make fun of her. Lucía then wonders if Johny has looked into the possibility that the report was made up by their competitors. Johny shares that he went to talk to Eva and it seems that it is true. He tells Lucía that they should look at this as the glass being full since this will cause much turmoil for the family, Eva was one of their worst enemies and now they don’t have to worry about her. Lucía looks repulsed and shakes her head. She knows Johny doesn’t want to believe her, the biggest threat they have is León’s murder. “Jacobo is León, and if he is here, it’s to take vengeance.” Oh goodnes girl, ya think?

At Cami’s house, LCJ is over his “attack.” He is surprised at how calm Micaela is about his episode. Micaela knows that she nor anyone else can do anything about it. She understands him perfectly because she also has lived through it. She has suffered pains from the cancer that killed her, but each time it’s less. She now understands why the episodes happen…they are warnings. Micaela thinks that there is something that LCJ is doing wrong…something is not right yet. As she is about to tell LCJ about a clue that the Virgen gave her, Cami approaches with a long face and bad news…the news about Eva exploded.

Renata is leaving the Carvajal building when she sees Guille arriving. She assumes he is there because of Eva and tells him that she is in her office. Guille confides that the information is true, but he knew about it before it hit the news. When Renata asks how he found out, Guille takes her aside to sit down and tells her that his father told him. Renata thinks it’s impossible. Guille shares that he received the worst and best news in his life today—the worst being about Eva being involved with drug traffickers. The best news is that his father is alive! Renata again tells him that it’s impossible, so Guille tries to explain how his father’s soul transmigrated to another body…that of Jacobo Reyes. Renata looks at him as if his screws have come loose. Well, get him home ASAP and SCREW them back in.

At Barb’s house, Barb looks like she’s trying to hypnotize herself when Beltrino comes back from resting after his “shock” episode. Beltrino asks if she has been able to contact Death Chick, but she avoids the question and tells him that the girl that just left is León’s daughter. She continues that Val was trying to contact her father. She didn’t know what to tell Val, but ended up telling her that her father was still alive…and only because she was ordered to do so. Beltrino wonders why Barb did not tell him that Death Chick had been there, he thinks she is going to betray him too. Beltrino then angrily tells Barb that he found out that the girl and his daughter were …Beltrino can’t even bring himself to say it, so Barb interjects, “And what?” Beltrino grunts, so Barb asks, “Why is it so hard for you to say it? They like each other! It’s normal...” Beltrino jolts back that it is not normal…Juls is going to hear what he has to say about it. Barb insists that he leave them alone and wonders if he doesn’t think it’s too much of a coincidence. Death has been lurking around them for awhile, there has to be a reason for it.

At the new apartment, Sergio arrives to see Juls who wonders if he wants to go out for coffee. Sergio would rather give her the dessert he brought her. When Juls turns to look at Sergio, Val appears at the door. Once Val walks in, Sergio closes the door and leaves. They hug after Val tells Juls that she thought she would never see her again. Tricky tricky, careful with those zero calorie desserts.

At the company, Eva is falling apart and telling Keila that she doesn’t want to see anyone. As she cries, Guille walks in. Eva expects the worst, but Guille remains silent as he looks at her. Eva slowly goes to him and cries on his shoulder as he hugs her. Once they separate, Guy simply asks, “Why? Why did you get involved in something like that?” Eva shakes her head and says, “Forgive me. I never wanted to do it. I know there was no need to do it, but those guys are very dangerous. They threatened me, and then one thing led to another and in the end…I never realized the consequences of my actions.” After she asks for forgiveness again, Guille wonders why she didn’t talk to the company attorneys. Eva responds, “Because I didn’t! You know how I am, I always want to do everything myself without anyone’s help. But you know what, I can’t!!” She calms down and tells Guille she made a mistake and again asks him to forgive her. Guille holds her close and tells her he is there to help her and the company. They are siblings, he will always be there…but first he needs her to know something, she needs to go with him. Guess who is here to see the colossal mess you have made witch?

At Juls’s apartment, Val wonders why Juls didn’t tell her she was leaving Silvina’s house. Juls explains that it was a last minute decision…and Val had asked for space. Val then tells Juls about going to a medium and talking to Lucho, what was even stranger was that the medium told her that her father is still alive. Val makes a joke of it and thinks the medium may have been speaking metaphorically, but Juls wonders if the same thing happened to Val’s father as did to her father. Val tells Juls that they bumped into her father there, he was desperate with worry since he couldn’t find them. As Juls is about to tell Val what happened with Beltrino, Lupita arrives. She coldly looks at Val, but tells them she will leave them alone. Before she does, Lupita tells Val that she is very sorry about her sister, but Val has no clue what she is talking about, so Lupita tells her about the report on the money laundering.

At Cami’s house, LCJ and Cami watch the news report in disbelief that Eva, who went to the university, could fall into something like this. LCJ can’t believe that, being her father, he didn’t know about it. He’s afraid Eva will end up in prison. Cami worries that the Carvajal competitors are going to run with this and try to destroy everything León worked for.

In Eva’s office, Eva questions why Guille wants her to go with him, she wants this to stay between the two of them...she doesn’t want to tell Val. Delusional, Eva,. She comes out from under her rock to at least see the news. As Guille insists that they need to meet as a family immediately, Lucía enters. Eva thinks she is there to make fun of her, but Lucía is very sorry for what Eva is going through, she only wants to offer Eva her support…if she needs it.

At Alacrán’s hideout, Alacrán is informed that Mateo is at the police headquarters to file a formal complaint against his wife. As Gancho listens, Alacrán orders that they go kill Mateo. Meanwhile, Montilla is still looking at the evidence as Mateo tells him that everything will be broadcast the following day with all the evidence included. Montilla advises Mateo that if everything he has given him checks out, his wife is in big trouble, she can go to prison for many years. Mateo understands that.

At the Carvajal house, Lucía arrives to be met by her mother who needles her about the mess her stepdaughter is in. After Candela continues her poking, Lucía suggests that she shouldn’t be making a joke out of someone else’s misfortune. Candela denies making fun of Eva, she is just angry because Eva treats Lucía so badly. Lucía wonders how Candela can have the nerve to be criticizing Eva when she made up a terminal illness. Candela admires the woman Lucía has turned into. That's nice, now leave.

At Montilla’s office, Montilla will submit all the evidence and file the complaint. As Montilla escorts Mateo out, Martinez approaches with an envelope, but Montilla tells him, “Not, now.” Martinez shakes his head and places the envelope with the results of the fingerprint test on Montilla’s desk.

At Juls’s apartment. Val is talking to Guille on the phone and tells him she is on her way over. After she ends the call, Val tells Lupita and Juls she has to leave. Before she leaves, Lupita gives her a supportive hug. At the door, Val wonders if Juls really wants to get involved with someone whose family has so many problems. Juls thinks they should have a competition.

At the Carvajal house, Lucía tells Silvina that she is going up to her bedroom to rest. As Silvina takes a tray into the kitchen. LCJ grabs and scares her. Silvina sees León as he covers her mouth so she won’t scream. She then sees LCJ and asks how he entered, but he just smiles and wonders if she is still surprised. Silvina doesn’t know what to say, she always sensed something strange, but it seemed so absurd. She still can’t believe that LCJ is Don León. LCJ felt that she sensed something, but didn’t say anything because it was somewhat complicated. Silvina again sees León as she tells him it’s a miracle. He caresses her face as he tells her that he needs to go into his batcave, but someone changed the code. BINGO.

Eva enters the house. As she is about to get a drink, Alacrán calls her. LCJ listens through the camera as Alacrán tells her about Mat going in to file a formal complaint against her, and Eva pleads with Alacrán not to kill Mateo. Later, Val arrives and sees Eva. She doesn’t know what to believe since the person the press describes is not the person Val knows. It makes her think that she has lived with a stranger all these years. (You have) As they hug, Guille walks in

Upstairs, Lucía stands before a mirror as she sees León stand beside her and douse himself with cologne. As she turns, he disappears. Meanwhile downstairs, Eva desperately tells Guille and Val that she is tired of talking about it, she has already told them that everything is a lie. Guille doubts it and so does Val since it’s all over the news and it doesn’t sound good. Eva tries to tell them that Mateo made everything up because of what she has done to him, but Guille knows Mateo wouldn’t make up something like that. They argue until Val shouts at them to stop, their father didn’t teach them to talk to each other in such a way. Eva still doesn’t know why they are there. After Guille emphasizes that it’s a family reunion, he gives LCJ a signal, so LCJ approaches. Eva is aghast that the chauffeur is part of the family meeting. With drink in hand, Guille states, “That is how it is, LCJ is part of the family. Jacobo Reyes is not a chauffeur, and much less a sicario. This man who stands before us…is León Carvajal…our father.” WOW. Now THAT'S a family reunion for the books.

Thank you, Kirby, I haven't watched yet but I'm dying to get home this after-noon.
Gotta love Mat, he's making up for all of his past stupidness. The guy has some cojones, I might say, hopefully they don't get him killed.
I can't wait for Lucia and Leon confrontation but also for Eva to explain To her dad why she turned so bad.

Kirby: Your recap was AWESOME.

I hope Matteo doesn't get whacked tonight because Montilla did warn him multiple times about turning in Eva to the law enforcement authorities.....

Adriana: I see Death Chick was seen with Vale. I hope nothing bad happens to our sexy lesbian.

Great work, Kirby. My fave of the moment: Candela admires the woman Lucía has turned into. That's nice, now leave. That is the best thing that Lucia could do to tell her to get out of her life.

I wonder whether Mexico has anything resembling the Witness Protection Program, although based on what we know it isn't likely to work very well. If Eva doesn't commit suicide somebody will have to raise that baby.

More later.

Hi everyone. Our kettle seems about ready to boil. Rightly so, as it is soon to be tea time:

!. The fingerprints are back from forensics.
2. Leon is back in his beloved BatCave.
3. Everybody but El Chapo Guzman knows that Jacobo is really Leon.
4. Mat chooses to INDEED press charges.
5. The more Eva denies, the more clear her guilt becomes.
6. Johny can not kill everyone who now has evidence against him.
7. I noticed Death Chick turned in a vacation request for week after next.

kj

Urban, there is no way Candela will ever leave without being physically carried out. The hangers-on moochers are really like someone here said a while back, 'human barnacles', and impossible to remove without force.

Like a dead mouse behind the refrigerator, you clean and clean, without discovering it, and after all is said and done, you still smell something.

Kirby: What's Candela's problem ?

Steve: She is a low life hooker and sees a life with Lucia as far nicer than the life working on her back provides. She thinks she has found that pot of gold and she can now live a life of luxury without ever expending any effort again.

And her looks are fading, so her bread and butter business will begin to fade as well. She is no longer a cute little thing bringing top dollar for a romp. You drive (rent) what you can afford. She is now on the Budget lot.

Comprende?

Kirby...I think that" human barnacle" might have been one of my obsevations. I guess that we all have come in contact with a couple of those.

It will interesting to see what kind of ending and anvils the writers have cooked up. Will some of these bad guys transmitters into other bodies? Maybe John could transmigrate into Candy's body and experience What it is like to be an aging sex worker. Now that would be poetic justice, wouldnt it?

Good Morning, Patio.

Thank you, Kirby, great recap and your screenshots were amazing! Macaria (Val) must have really had to try hard to keep a straight face when Death Chick got that close to her. I really like that screenshot.

DoorMat has worked his way up the ranks to SuperMat...and they say we should beware of a woman scorned. Mat just proved that a man scorned can be just as vicious; though he is doing the right thing.

Candela may have initially wanted to bilk Lucia for as much as she could, but I think the writers really want us to believe that the scene where Lucia went into her bedroom and told her how she used to get int o bed with her was supposed to have really touched Candela and made her change her mind. I do think that what she did to her own daughter was deplorable and unforgivable, but it seems that this TN is about second chances.

3 more nights of this TN and there are still so many things that need to get resolved. Aside from the obvious, I think we are all interested in knowing where some of the souls/bodies are. Missing are:

Leon's body
Beltran's soul
Hector's body
Micaela's body
Karla's soul

Can't wait to see what Eva has to say about the transmigration idea!

Crap. Eva will turn it around somehow to show that transmigration is to blame for her crimes, and she was a poor helpless victim.

How is Pancho able to afford two places? The apartment he found for the girls is very nice....top notch.
If no one is working, where did Jules get money to buy thank you flowers?

Anon: The writers gave it to them. :-)

Ironically, all the two girls had was what was in their bindles. Then we see them with kitchen trinkets on the wall, washing dishes, and housekeeping set up like Leave it to Beaver Cleavers.

Kirby--You got a great episode to recap. Thank you. Will be back later. Still reading....

Terrific job Kirby from the title to every snarky comment and fabulous screenshot. I did not get to see the scene of Keila and Renata talking outside Eva's office, but otherwise Univision showed everything else you recounted.

Yes, Eva is indeed re-positioning herself as Poor Victim after being an Overbearing Tyrant the entire show. Whether denying her guilt completely or just bleating "perdoname" every two seconds, she's showing no more strength of character now than she ever has. Remains to be seen whether a talk with her father, re-packaged in the chauffeur's body, will set her on a better path. I was cringing when she reached for the whiskey bottle and very relieved when the phone call from Alacrán diverted her.

I did very much enjoy Michaela's explanation of the lessons that she needed to learn. And even more, that she did not presume to tell LCJ to learn the same lesson, but rather told him that he needed to find his own truth himself. Very nicely done.

Beltrino is still a work in progress but for me, he steals every scene that he's in. I still can't believe that he was the bland, timid fellow he portrayed in Juan Querendon, but so glad he's getting parts now where he can show his full range of acting ability.

Having to portion this story out bit by bit, night by night, is killing me. Soooo want to binge watch, but it's not possible.

Thanks for a great recap and a few naughty pieces of advice that are so "a la Kirby". Now go to your room...you're grounded young man!

There's no way I can follow JudyB's eloquent put-downs and put-ups sprinkled with her own inimitable wisdom. She drew Eva just right.

Here are a few of the things I'm going to miss the most when AAM ends:
Those icy blue eyes
The different outside shots of Cami's vine covered home, plus the car
Beltrino and Barbara's perfect timing exchanging wit for wit
Montilla's dogged pursuit of justice
Renata's never wavering love of Guille, despite the obstacles
The tinkling piano keys for certain scenes
Given that this story is supernaturally unbelievable, the writers never insulted our intelligence with villans switching DNA results or fake pregnancies and a minimum of galanbesoparalysis.
An intelligent housekeeper, though overworked in my opinion
Tlacoyo and Max (although Max didn't get much of a leading role)
Listening to LCJ's rapid-fire delivery when he got agitated.
RGV's, Kirby's and Urban's recaps.
Sigh.
