Por Amar Sin Ley, Season 2 Lunes 4/1/19, Episode 14: Discussion Page

Inspector Quiróz visited Ricardo to tell him that El Gato was dead. This was not a coincidence, as the identifying photo was not meant to be in many hands. Ricardo suspected that they were very close if anyone thought that it was a good idea to kill him.

Roberto continued to work on the receptionist at the hospital and learned that the murder victim's patients all liked him except for a crazy woman from three years previously. He got her to give him her number for future reference.

Alonso handed Gustavo a case file regarding a father wanting to spend more time with his son. Gustavo declined to take it, saying he didn't feel up to it, but Alonso made him realize he was needed.

Adrián visited Sonia to talk about the mysterious woman in Rafael's case. He believes his client but she doesn't. He said there were text messages at the same time of day and asked for her help. She wantss to disprove his client's assertions while at the same time approving of this lawyer's personal assets.

Alonso was livid at Quiróz' news, stating they needed better security, including the possibility of moving. Ricardo was not with that program. After Quiróz left Ricardo and Alonso told Gustavo, saying that there had to have been an information leak. Gustavo realized he had to have been it but said nothing. Blowup in front of Javier, then Ricardo said they could figure this out if they knew precisely when the information went out.

Adrián discussed Rafael's case with Victoria. He had the LUDs on Rafael's phone but didn't have the woman or her motive. The messages concerned the victim's movements. Roberto arrived and supplied the woman's last name: Almacán. She was his prime suspect. More posturing in front of Victoria, who saw it for what it was. Adrián went to his office and Juan arrived to tell Roberto that Tito had been arrested and they had a court date. They left Victoria's office together.

Alan told Carlos about Nancy spotting the dirty money bags. He had tried to tell her that the carriers were client couriers, but suspected she didn't buy it. Realizing that there is no inverse relationship between cup and hat sizes, Carlos said he would talk to her.

Roberto and Juan questioned Tito in front of the prosecutor;he would not talk. Roberto told him to think about it. As they left they were unsure of what to do without knowing what he would have said. Roberto called Raquel to have her come to the office to prepare her for court.

Ricardo asked Alejandra for a raincheck on their dinner date because he needed to work late with Alonso. They deferred it to the following evening.

Carlos called Nancy into his office to tell her that what happened in the office stays in the office. She backed up against the desk in anticipation of a different kind of confidential act while he was giving her a standard boss lecture. She went after the knot in his tie, but he pulled her hands away from it, telling her that their clients expect the best in legal advice, etc., without showing any evidence of attraction. She seemed a little confused that this trick hadn't worked.

Ricardo's kids called him to update him on themselves. Alejandra showed up at Victoria's office to tell her that her date fell through. They decided to hang out together.

Roberto and Juan were going over the Cervantes case when Raquel arrived to go over her testimony. When they were done she said that she would have no peace until this was all over.

Alejandra told Victoria about the custody case and Victoria was concerned about dealing with the violent Jacob. Alejandra rhetorically asked “What more could happen to me?” referring to her father's kidnapping and said that life is short so one must be happy and unafraid. She confessed she continued to be in love with Ricardo. Victoria admired her attitude then told her about Roberto's stay at her place and her own fear of falling in love with him. This was based on what she had to lose if things went bad. Alejandra thought this would be different and suggested she think about it.

Gustavo admitted showing the photo to Ramiro. Javier then concluded that whoever did this had connexions inside the prison.

The following morning Adrián showed Ricardo the next step of his case, that the woman was identified as Mónica Almacán. He believes that this was the same woman the doctor had a problem with four years previously and that she must have been the mother of a patient.

Paula encouraged Alejandra to go for Ricardo.

Raquel sat between Juan and Roberto in the courtroom. They told her that Tito's statement had nothing in common with Julio's. She told them she didn't care about Eva; she was only interested in Julio getting free.

Carlos visited Alejandra in her office with his usual motive. When he said he was interested in everything about her life she looked very suspicious and ill at ease. She made her feelings about him clear, but he went on about his inability to remove his feelings for her. He asked her to dine with him so he could explain and she told him No. He offered to drive her home and she said she had a date with Ricardo. She tried to avoid his kiss before he left, saying he would always love her.

The prosecutor questioned Eva first. After saying that she had been dating Julio for two years and was not interested in money, she denied knowing Mattias and Tito. Roberto was invited to interrogate Eva, but he wanted to call Raquel to the stand. He judge allowed him to. Raquel was sworn in and she gave the standard “He's a good boy” testimony. The prosecutor asked whether she could recall any conflict and she remembered what Miriam told her at the funeral. That Julio and his father had an argument that day that was over something minor; no details provided. The prosecutor prompted her to speak and she said “No; he never told me anything.” Juan and Roberto seemed to notice the change in her facial expression. She went on about how much her sister loved her son and how sure she was that he was innocent. The prosecutor had no more questions and Raquel returned to her seat with the lawyers. The prosecutor then asked to question Alberto “Tito” Garcia, who claimed to have been hired by Julio and Eva. Eva waved the female guard away from her as she left the holding cell and Tito was escorted in.

The prosecutor asked whether he participated in the murders of Sergio Cervantes and his wife and he answered that he had... for the money paid by Eva and Julio. Roberto objected that it was his word against his client's and challenged the prosecutor to provide proof. Which he did. He showed three cell phones to Tito, who identified his own. The prosecutor produced transcripts of texts between him and Eva, and of one from Julio on the day of the murder of his father. He read that one aloud. Juan challenged its authenticity and the prosecutor removed the other two cell phones from the evidence bags; they were the cell phones of Julio and Eva. Tito then said that he had been told where to find the father and that the door had been opened for him and Mattias to enter to kill Julio's mother. Raquel started crying.

Here I go again..... Carlo's pawing over Alejandra and his stalker attitude makes me hate him like Johny. I shouldn't leave out Nancy and her popping out boobs.!

Don't mean to be negative again, but I'm still not a David Zepeda fan. Except for in 'Sortilegio' where he was so despicable one almost believed him.

Even as a good boy in 'Abismo de Pasión he su*ked.

Since there isn't much else on TV, I'll probably hang in until the end.

Ana Brenda is sure taking long enough to be killed off or move somewhere else.

Thanks UA!

I feel like there’s more to Raquel than meets the eye. Why is she lying under oath to protect Julio? She said herself that she doesn’t care about Eva which kinda makes sense.

Carlos needs to give up trying to win Alejandra back. It just ain’t gonna happen.

I agree with you Victoria G about DZ. He’s better in villain roles.

Victoria has made Roberto change but I have a feeling that they still have obstacles to face,

"Realizing that there is no inverse relationship between cup and hat sizes, Carlos said he would talk to her."

Ah UA, you manage to pack so much wit into so few words. What a talent. That and the phrase about "posturing" were both delightful. Enjoying the different screencaps of Dame Justice as well.

Thanks for the recap. I'll hope to watch this later on today. Agree with the complaints about Zepeda. His granite face and acting style fit the villain role well but he's a dud at portraying a romantic partner or doting father. Poor casting for this role.

Actually, if you watch La Fuerza del Destino you see him in a great paternal role with the son he didn't know he had. His leading lady in that series was rather weak, though.

All we know about Raquel is that she is Julio's maternal aunt. No mention of any husband, lover, children, or job. We can suppose that she lived near her sister, but not much else.

Sonia "wants to disprove his client's assertions while at the same time approving of this lawyer's personal assets..." Yes, indeed! She's actually attractive when she stops scowling. And why *shouldn't* we have a female cradle-robber...?

When everyone was cluelessly wondering aloud about the information leak, Gustavo looked like he'd peed on the carpet. PAY ATTENTION, PEOPLE. And he "doesn't feel up to" taking a case? Why are they still paying his salary? I kind of feel sorry for the actor; he doesn't get much range.

My favorite bit was Roberto telling Vic that Adrian was chachacha, while he was rocknroll. Too funny.

It’s funny that I was having a similar conversation with my telenovela Twitter friends about DZ last night. I do agree with you Urban about DZ in LFdD. He was probably better in that one than he was in Abismo. And I also agree that Sandra Echeverría in the leading female role wasn’t a great fit. I watched LDVDEC on and off so I didn’t really get to see his potential in that one. I still think his best role was in Sortilegio.

I particularly liked the scenes with the kid playing his son when they were in the dolphin pool. That was the first series I covered for this blog.

Abismo was abysmal; that entire cast deserved a better story than that.

Aw, c'mon, UA...Abismo may have been suffering on the screen, but it was wild fun on the patio.

Good to know there are others who do not like Zepeda’s acting. He over emotes...his face takes on a wooden demeanor..not a good actor...AND his baby talk to his kids..ugh. Thanks again to the recappers. Ps I agree, somethings wrong with Aunt Raquel....

The whole babying of Elena's children has bothered all of us. Elena is a narcissist, as we all saw in Season 1. That is one of the ways that a narcissistic mother avoids facing that her children will eventually grow up. Ricardo probably followed her lead for lack of better information. I've always had the feeling that he is an only child and didn't get a better example by being able to observe healthy parenting of a younger sibling. The current situation where the kids are dealing with living in a foreign country and having to attend school in English is a setback for them.

This isn't unique to narcissists, either. Some of us have observed babying of children by paranoid helicopter parents who don't stop even when their kids have graduated college. They see danger all over the place and want desperately to shield their children from any possibility of rejection, disappointment, or even failure. At my last company the HR manager once told of receiving a resume from a parent and she sent it straight to the circular file on the grounds that anyone not capable of sending his/her own would not be a sufficiently functioning adult to be useful to the company. That could happen to Elena's children.

Thanks, UA, for the nice recap.

I think it was insensitive of Alonso to suggest Gustavo take over a father-son case. Certainly there is a good embezzlement or tax evasion case he can take on.

Is Ana-Brenda getting killed off??? Is she leaving this show? She sure looked pretty in that robin egg blue dress.

Blue, I had to laugh at the chachacha vs. rock n roll comment, too. I'd say this show is pretty chachacha, and am hoping Dona Flor will be rock n roll.

R la O

R la O, do we know how many episodes of Dona Flor are expected?

Rosemary: Ana Brenda Contreras is also on CW's "Dynasty" TV Series as Cristal Jennings.

It's possible Alejandra might get killed off in "PASL".

This series went into production last June and didn't begin airing in Mexico until two weeks before we got it. We can't determine how many episodes ABC will have as Alejandra.

Don't miss tonight's episode!

Thanks Urban good recap.

I'm Bored with Carlos. Give it a rest already. The woman is not into you at all. Leave her alone.Your life is in the Toilet. Flush it and put us out of your miserable misery. Hes gone from sad to pathetic. When she said "I have a dinner date with Ricardo",he should
Have take hint number 1001. He also should have taken the hint from nancypoo,She's throwin it at him. He need to catch it. Cause Ali is Givin hers to rickypoo.

So who killed the parents? Cuz nobody is Makin much sence.

Who wants to bet that Carlos does go after Nancy??

Or how soon will it will happen?

He seems like an egotistical male who thinks his affairs can be whitewashed at his convenience. Didn't he use "I was drunk" as justification? Not an excuse. Even though he keeps pledging to AB that he is SO.... upset about the whole incident and loves her still.....
