Alejandra
opened the 55-gallon drum and coughed at the odor that came from it.
She then called Quiróz to tell him she found the place where they
held her father and for him to come right away. He told her to not
touch anything and to get out of there. She said she couldn't
because she didn't feel safe doing so.
Téllez
called Alan, demanding twice the money he had paid the previous time.
He threatened to talk if Alan didn't pay by the following morning.
He finally told him he would have the money that night.
Quiróz
and his men arrived and looked into the drums. They were sure they
would find other clues in that location. He asked Alejandra how she
found this place and who else knew about it. She told him and he
told her that she was to go back to the office. She refused and he
told her that if she didn't do as he said he would charge her with
interfering in the investigation.
That
night Sofia watched television with Camila and sighed about the
difficult case at the office. Mónica's case. This somehow got Mama
to get on her case about having children, a subject Sofia didn't want
to get into.
Jaime
arrived at Paula's house and Alejandra told him what she found. He
was not happy that she was doing this. He told her to let the police
do their job and not take risks. She told him what she found and
implored him to tell no one. She could not sit around and do
nothing. Paula came in and they said nothing about this in front of
her. Alejandra told him about her plans to move in with Ricardo.
Roberto
took his pick-up artist ways back to the bar and chatted up another
woman. Same physical type as the last one. However, he said he
would need to get back home because he was taking care of his father.
This appealed to her.
El
Ciego's two goons went to the disputed club to negotiate with the
owner for a meeting with El Ciego. He was reticent at first, but
finally agreed to meet with El Ciego the next day. They shook hands
and the owner told his manager to treat them like guests. Drinks on
the house and he would send over some girls. [This sounds like
the calm before the storm].
Ricardo
arrived at Paula's house and Jaime expressed his approval of the
relationship. Paula suggested they celebrate.
Roberto
went home alone to find Nicolas watching a film and having a drink.
He poured one for Roberto and asked about whether he patched things
up with Victoria. Of course he had not, but these things take time.
El
Gringo was playing pool in the back room of the club when the owner
came in to tell him about the approach from El Ciego. El Gringo
wanted to have El Ciego come to his turf. The other guy didn't want
any trouble.
The
next morning Victoria was rather prickly with Roberto in the elevator
as Gustavo was teasing him a little about taking off after work.
Considering that she was wearing a dress meant to show him what he
was missing out on...
Alejandra
met with a new client, a young man named Claudio who just became a
father of a married woman's child. She had been separated from her
husband when they were seeing each other and decided to return to her
husband because she did not consider Claudio ready to be a father.
He wanted to see his child but she had told him to get out of her
life. The baby had been registered as the husband's child.
Alejandra asked whether he was absolutely certain he was the child's
father; he said he was. She told him that due to presumptive
paternity in this situation it will be complicated. He told her he
had tried to speak with the baby's mother – Gabriela Robles –
when she was in the hospital but she had refused to see him. Her
husband was aware of the situation and this had come to blows. He
did not understand why she had returned to him. He wanted to be a
father to his child. Alejandra told him that this would not be an
easy case. It would have to start with a DNA test and a court date.
He looked a little impatient but seemed to understand.
Mónica
paced in the visiting room until Juan entered. She was not happy to
see him. He told her he was going to try to get her sentence reduced
for her son's sake. He brought documents for her to sign. She
refused at first. He told her that while she had to do time he was
going to appeal for her. She asked him if he could do her a favor
and deliver a letter to Rafael. He nodded. This time she looked as
though she might cry for real.
Gus
and Roberto went into the latter's office and they talked about
Roberto's problem. He did want to have a serious relationship with
Victoria but seems to have given up. Gustavo told him his moving day
was coming up and that he would adapt. They agreed to have drinks at
his new place.
Alejandra
got her client to write down the address so the papers could be
served. She also told him that she could not refuse the DNA test if
there is a court order for one. She warned him that once this began
there could be conflict between the mother and her husband.
Carlos
and Alan looked at potential office space; the emptiness, the glass
doors, and the white walls looked starkly science fiction. Carlos
wanted a huge reception area; he wanted the place to be much bigger
than Vega's. In fact he wanted to buy the location rather than rent
it.
At
the staff meeting Juan explained his reasons for taking up Mónica's
appeal Adrián didn't entirely approve, but Alejandra and Gustavo
supported him in this. Gustavo explained his latest case of the
couple whose son sold their apartment under the power of attorney.
Manuel considered this to be an abuse of trust and Ricardo said that
the son had taken advantage of his parents. Gustavo wasn't sure how
to proceed yet. He told his clients to think about it. Alejandra
spoke up about Claudio's case. Adrián found this interesting, as
did Roberto. Victoria said it would be complicated. Javier
commented about people having no morals. Roberto told him to chill.
Lorena commented that the parents don't realize that this could
become a bigger problem for the child than for themselves. Alonso
reminded her that the husband would be prepared and Alejandra told
him not to worry; she will be prepared for this case.
Andres
Camacho was playing with his daughter when his mother-in-law Aurora
arrived. She and Violeta, her daughter, were going shopping.
Violeta said she would get her car, but he insisted she take his
camioneta because it would be safer. She finally took the
keys and kissed her daughter goodbye. Aurora seemed to have a sense
of forboding and her goodbye to her son-in-law was somewhat curt.
The little girl said goodbye as her father picked her up. As soon as
the door was closed he began tickling her.
Manuel
spoke up, saying he's learned a lot already in his first week. They
ended the meeting and Alonso asked Ricardo, Roberto, and Victoria to
stay. He wanted to talk to them about Alejandra.
El
Ciego was preparing another several bags of little green pieces of
paper to bring to Carlos as his goons updated him on their meeting at
the club. He was a little suspicious.
Alonso
told the others he wanted to have Alejandra become a partner. Carmen
said she would get the documents ready. All agreed to this. When
Alonso left the conference room Ricardo told the others that he and
Alejandra would be moving in together. Both were happy for them.
Victoria made a cutting remark about the breakup before leaving.
Ricardo asked Roberto about it and he said “Drama, hormones,
jealousy, a bit of each.” [Roberto, you have really backslid
now.]
El
Ciego said that he didn't believe it would be this easy. He then
told El Chivo he was to get there first and El Cuervo shortly after.
The table near them was full of assault rifles and other high-powered
weapons.
Roberto
and Ricardo talked, ending with Roberto asking him to join him and
Gustavo that night for drinks.
Alejandra
updated Sofia and said she was backing off and letting the police to
their job.
Andres
and his daughter were sitting at the table with her coloring book and
he sent her to get her crayons. After she left the room he went to
the phone, phoned the police, and reported his car stolen.
Violeta
and Aurora were discussing upcoming weekend plans when the police
stopped them. The officer got their ID cards, called it in, and told
them they were under arrest for theft.
