Sofia
and Javier discussed the current caseload. He had a police report
showing that the fire was arson. It was going to take time and they
could not afford mistakes. She told him that Lorena would handle
Ricardo's pending cases and reminded him before she left to call her
when he had an update.
Alan
explained the details of what happened and that Carlos and
Alejandra's engagement ended. Nancy took this in like a sponge. She
mentioned the cancellation of the event, but Alan told her that it
would go on. He was sure that this situation would improve and the
world had to know that their firm was strong. Nancy watched him with
hooded eyes.
Sofia
updated Alonso on Ricardo's caseload and that she and Lorena would
take care of them. Before she left she asked Alonso whether he
thought that the shooting had anything to do with Alejandra's
investigation into her father's kidnapping. She had discovered that
the kidnappers and the killers were the same people.
El
Ciego's goons brought Carlos to the lair with a black sack over his
head. They sat him down and removed it at El Ciego's orders. Carlos
said that their business dealings are over and El Ciego denied having
anything to do with the shootout. He reminded him of how much money
he owed. Carlos blamed him for what happened to Alejandra and
refused to do business with him again. El Ciego – while waving his
pistol around – told him he would do as he orders him to. He
started to open Carlos' shirt (?) and Carlos told him that the
shooters would pay.
Alonso
lost it, demanding to know why he was not informed. Sofia told him
she thought he knew. He went on about how he had told her to leave
this to the police, etc. He asked what else Alejandra found out.
Sofia said that anything about it would be in her office. They
immediately went there. After looking at the papers Alonso said he
would need to see Quiróz.
El
Ciego insisted that Carlos had to protect his people. Carlos told
him that this would depend on their actions. El Ciego laughed,
saying that he wanted the others out of his territory. He said that
it was El Gringo's people who did this in revenge for the arson.
Carlos had not forgotten that El Ciego had previously told him that
it was his club. However, he was willing to help because he wanted
El Gringo dead.
Roberto
entered Victoria's office. It looked like they might soon make
peace. However, Victoria asked him to help her locate Andres Camacho
by calling in his contacts at the airlines. He said he doesn't
promise what he can't deliver and why wouldn't Adrián have contacts?
She told him that all of Adrián's were “legal” but others might
be required. She said not to do it for her but for a woman who's in
jail for something she didn't do. She didn't care to know what he
needed to do to get this information.
Paula
couldn't make herself eat despite Jaime's urgings. Ricardo didn't
want to go to the office, and Gustavo had to be strong for him.
Paula started talking about Paula's teen years and the nights they
waited up for her. She tried to laugh, then began crying again.
Alonso
went to the police station and raised hell with Quiróz, telling him
that it was his fault that this happened to Alejandra. Each blamed
the other for interference. Both had tried to stop her doing the
police dapartment's work, so this argument made no sense.
Victoria
stopped by Adrián's office to see if he had found out anything new.
Neither had. He thought they had enough for opening arguments but
she wasn't satisfied. She was very tired and he suggested she go
home and rest while he continued.
Roberto
entertained Julia – present flight attendant and former flame –
at his place for the purpose of getting the information for Victoria.
Nicolás came home during this visit when Julia was getting ready to
get jiggy with Roberto who – surprisingly – was not really eager
for it. She took her leave but was hoping to see him again.
Adrián
got someone on the phone in the states and seemed to make some
progress.
Roberto
and Nicolás had drinks and talked about this. Roberto explained
that he was looking for information to help Victoria's case. Nicolas
teased him about doing this for Victoria and having no desire to
boink Julia, but Roberto was disturbed by this. Nicolás told him
that while Julia is beautiful “I want Victoria for you.” Roberto
also wanted Victoria because she was unique. He picked up his phone
to send her the information.
Victoria
was getting ready to go to bed [a bed large enough for Bob and
Carol and Ted and Alice] when Roberto's message arrived. It had
the airline and the flight number and a “waiting for your kisses.”
She tossed the phone on the bed and sat down with a sad expression.
Roberto
was disappointed that she did not answer, espcially in view of recent
happenings which he now had to explain to his father. Of course,
Nicolás said that it was particularly important to have one's loved
ones around.
Similar
theme in the conversation between Sofia and her mother.
In
te morning Adrián and Victoria met in the parking lot by the women's
prison and exchanged information. They went inside hoping to get
their clients released.
Alonso
did get what he wanted from Quiróz and showed it to Roberto, Juan,
and Gustavo. He asked Juan if he could get security tapes of the
relevant arreas and cautioned everyone to be careful.
Carlos
went to the hospital and tried to bribe a nurse for information about
Alejandra (after she had told him that the information was just for
her family). She turned him down just as Jaime appeared. After
telling him that Alejandra's condition had not changed he told him
that bribing a nurse isn't the way to find out such things. He would
keep him informed. He sent him on his way with instuctions to get
some rest.
Sofia
wanted to take over where Alejandra left off and Alonso made her
promise not to for her own safety.
Violeta
and Aurora were in the holding cell. Adrián presented the opening
argument, that Andres Camacho fabricated this charge against his wife
and mother-in-law to be able to take his daughter out of the country.
Victoria added Camacho has not appeared because he took his child
out of the country to Austin without her mother's consent. He had
left with his daughter on an Inter-American flight. The district
attorney claimed that the charge of custodial interference was
retaliatory because of the arrest. She had the documents signed by
the victim regarding the theft. Violeta tried to speak up, then
Aurora, but Victoria warned them to remain silent. The DA said that
they were in the car at the time of the arrest and she demanded they
be declared guilty.
Gustavo,
Roberto, and Juan worked on the case in the library. Gustavo
insisted that the photos be laid out in chronological order. Juan
agreed and they then talked about the car. The license plates on it
did not belong. They needed security footage from the restaurant to
see if there was a connexion.
The
doctor told Paula, Jaime, and Ricardo that they would need to do
tests.
Victoria
said that the DA was ignoring an important point, that the arrest was
the pretext to taking his daughter out of the country. Further, that
he was not there to refute the statement that he had insisted they
take his car. The DA simply repeated herself. Adrián spoke of his
clients' reputations being ruined by the false charges which
themselves were a crime. The judge paused for a moment and said he
had made his decision.
