Por Amar Sin Ley, Season 2 Jueves 5/30/19 Episode 54: We Have To Talk

Scenes combined where it made sense to do so.

Guadalajara: As they left the courthouse Josefina told Alonso and Gustavo that she felt relieved. Alonso told her that her sons were young enough that they would learn from this and that they would ultimately feel regret at their behaviors. She thanked them.

Los Angeles: Two young men driving a pickup truck down a highway heard noises from the engine. They stopped to check under the hood, accidentally locking themselves out of the truck with the keys and their cell phones inside. While one of them walked down the road in the hopes of finding help the other – Ramón – continued to look at the engine. Afew minutes or so later the other – Daniel – tried flagging down another vehicle. He picked up a rock, broke the drivers' side window, and took the keys and the cell phones as a police car pulled up. They ordered him to put his hands in the air and drop the weapons. He tried to explain that this was his car and he had the registration. The cops claimed he had a gun and one shot him, thinking him an immigrant. A moment later he saw that Ramón was unarmed. His partner called it in and requested an ambulance.

Mexico City: Camila came out of the shower in a towel and walked out of the house.

Lorena came into Ricardo's office to tell him she really enjoyed working with him and hoped to continue doing so. Ricardo looked back at her as though he was looking for the underlying message when Roberto walked in and realized he possibly interrupted something.

Guadalajara: Alonso and Gustavo walked back, talking about the last time Alonso had been in Jalisco. His late wife, Sarah, had come from there. Gustavo asked about her, as he had not spoken of her before. He told him that she was the perfect wife and helpmate, and a good mother to his children. Gustavo then asked about Lourdes. Alonso said she was good for him, gave him back the ability to enjoy life. He told Gustavo that someday this would happen for him, too. Gustavo wasn't so sure because of the way he lost his family. Alonso had lost his wife to cancer.

Los Angeles: El Gringo walked into his warehouse to find one of his underlings with the “merchandise” intercepted from its destination to El Ciego. This was possible because of El Chivo. El Gringo said told his underling “The next time you see him, take care of him.” He then cut into one of the bags to see the powder.

Daniel came back in time to see him zipped into a body bag. The cops said he had attacked them and arrested him for being his accomplice. As they cuffed him he said that Ramón must have broken into the car to get his cell. The one who shot Ramón said – rather condescendingly – that he should have no trouble explaining that in court.

Mexico City: Lourdes visited Paula, who was still emotionally paralyzed. Since the situation with Gilberto Paula has only been concerned about losing the house. Lourdes seemed to be there to get her to forgive Alicia, but Paula didn't even want to talk about it. Lourdes was concerned about their friendship, but Paula told her to not intefere in this because it wasn't her problam. Jaime came to tell her that if the bank's actuary comes, not to open the door. The court case was the next day and she was to leave this to him. They sat down at the table and Lourdes asked why Jaime didn't talk to Gilberto, as he is in custody. Jaime knew that Alejandra had talked with him and he had not appeared. He had blown it off. He had failed to alter the contract to protect Paula. Lourdes asked whether Gilberto would end up in prison and Jaime told her that was most likely. She asked further how this helps Paula because Gilberto would be unable to repay the debt. Jaime told her that all that mattered to him was that Paula not lose her house. She was Gilberto's victim. Jaime understood the difficulty this placed Lourdes in but promises were made but not delivered upon. Paula said that she had no other choice. [Lourdes should see that it could be impossible to keep Paula as a friend if she continued to defend that twit Alicia to her.]

Sofia came into Ricardo's office for no good reason, as he knew they had won the case and that Sofia thought highly of Leonardo and Olivia. She told him the details including that Cristina was awarded a million dollars in damages. She was about to leave when she received a distubing phone call. Her mother had been arrested and she needed to go to the police station. Ricardo said he would go with her and they were out the door.

Juan told Roberto about the move, saying that the best part is being closer to the office. Roberto was aware that Juan had lived in that house his whole life and that his father had bought it, which must have made Susanna sad to leave it. Juan said that was true but he was sure his mother would be happy in her new house. Roberto said that she had hit the lottery with him as a son. Juan thanked him, but more for his help in getting to where he is. They talked about the possibility of a housewarming party and Juan was forced to tell him that Fernanda wants nothing to do with him anymore.

Adrian and Victoria talked about her studies. He made the point that each US state has its own licensing requirements. She said she specifically wanted to help immigrants and he thought that a great thing. He promised to call a prof he knew who could help her and suggested that they take a trip to the US. [I'm sure he would love to take her to the hot spots in New York.]

Nancy slithered up to Carlos' office door dressed to kill. She was trying to get him to take her to lunch but he had already requested his secretary to order lunch for him because he was busy on a new client's business. She offered to help him but he said he preferred to do this alone. He talked without even looking at her and she was confused at this. [She doesn't know this yet but even her sex theme music was intruded upon by Michelle.] She left the office.

Los Angeles: A lawyer arrived at the police station and introduced himself to Daniel Galván. He explained that his friend had resisted arrest and that he being arested for breaking into a car. He told him that US law supports the police and the best he could do would be to stay out of this problem. Daniel protested that his friend has never had problems with the police and that his friend was dead because of racism. The lawyer told him he couldn't prove that and that the best he could do now in the moment was to contact his friend's family so they could claim his body. He pulled out the cell phone that was in a plastic bag. Daniel answered that he couldn't; his friend didn't have papers. The lawyer told him he would then have to do it and he would be there to help.

Mexico City: Sofia went to the desk and was told that her mother was arrested for public indecency,as in she was walking in the street totally naked. Sofia almost collapsed at the news. She caught her breath and said this was not possible. The arrest report was read out to her. She acknowledged that the location was near her home but denied that her mother would do anything like that. Ricardo asked to see the report He and Sofia looked at it and he said he would need to analyze it. They asked to see her and were told she was in the lockup. Sofia went while Ricardo arranged to pay the fine.

Sofia found her mother in a cell in clothes she would not have owned. Camila was confused. She could not remember how she got outside and could not remember how to get home. She suddenly found herself in a police car. She was afraid and didn't know what happened to her. She was afraid not and wanted to go home. Sofia told her she would take care of everything and then take her to a doctor. She didn't want to go to to a doctor; she only wanted to go home.

Carlos continued his research in his office and Nancy interrupted him by sitting in his lap and coercing him into another vampiristic kiss. Alan came in just in time to catch the end of it, which she probably didn't notice as she got up and excused herself. She sashayed out and Alan said “I've interrupted you two.” Carlos denied it and asked what he wanted. Alan handed him a report on the foundation and the monies laundered for El Ciego, then left.
Loa Angeles: Daniel called Ramón's mother and told her what happened. She could not believe it as her son was not anyone who would attack a policeman.

Mexico City: Roberto invited Javier out for drinks; he delined as usual. However he asked him what Ricardo had against Carlos. Roberto started out saying it was personal, then the detail that Alejandra almost married Carlos before coming to their firm. Javier said something to the effect that this explained everything. [No, Javier; it's really not that simple.]

Sofia came back from the lockup, crying. She didn't understand what was happening to her mother. Ricardo told her that they needed to get her to a doctor. For the moment he had paid the fine and they had to get her out. She thanked him.

Javier told Roberto that he was concerned about Ricardo's lack of objectivity in the case and that this could go down a wrong path. They needed time. Roberto agreed and said he would try to talk to Ricardo about it. Javier said it would be best if Ricardo stayed out of this case. [Mucho suerte con eso, pero no seria possible.]

Alan stopped in Nancy's office as she was getting ready to leave. He wanted to talk to her. She asked if it could wait until morning and he asked if she was going out with Carlos. He went on to say that boinking Carlos will not be the way to stay employed in their firm. She didn't want to talk about this with him but he blocked her exit from behind her desk. He told her to be careful with Carlos because the day he didn't need her she would be out the door. She told Alan that just because they work well together that didn't mean that there was anything going on. He tried to question her about the cases she worked on with Carlos and got nothing. He wasn't buying any of this.

Roberto presided over the drinking session at his favorite watering hole, making positive comments about Adrian and Sofia's success in New York. He got a message from Ricardo on his cell that he was on a case with Sofia. No other information. Victoria tried to excuse herself just as one of Roberto's previous one- or two-night stands arrived to greet him. She introduced him to a friend of hers, Estefania, who had just arrived from Los Angeles. Adrian asked Victoria if she would like another drink . Roberto tried to get her to stay but she told him he had two women hot for his...company. “I want to talk” got him yet another setback. Victoria left the bar.

Couldn't agree with you more UA. For Lourdes to keep sashaying in preaching forgiveness of the debt...puhleeze! She should remain homeless as a sign of friendship!!!??? I don't think so. It's ridiculous. I like the actress, she's a lovely gal, but the writers are giving her some lines that just make her loathsome. The whole situation is a mess.

For some reason I found this episode really upsetting. The murder of that poor fella with the broken down truck, and then the dementia of the mother. The latter hits too close to home, since my mother had it and now my older sister.Plus several friends now. Nothing as dramatic as walking down the street nude, but a sad way to end a life nevertheless. And the treatments for dementia are not particularly effective. So diagnosis is more of a description than a point to a cure.

Alas, Roberto's chickens, in the form of curvaceous air hostesses, keep coming back to roost. I think he'll have to throw himself on his knees, pledge undying love and put a ring on it before Victoria will even listen for one minute.

Thanks for your daily amazing recaps UA. This is a ton of work. Very appreciative.

Thank you, Urban. I FF>> through several scenes, knowing you would be covering them exceptionally well. And you did (i.e. Gustavo and Alonso's stroll through the plaza; Camila's ever so lengthy explanation to Sofia).

I might add that at the time Vicky excused herself from the party, she had been deep in conversation with Adrian, a little ways off. Bobby practically got down on both knees and hugged her legs, begging to let him take her home to talk. He informed her that he'd asked Adrian to join them to show he wasn't jealous (poor reason). That's when she gave him the "We don't have anything to talk about" speech. She then asked Adrian to walk her to the door.

Who else is positive that Adrian and Vicky will go to LA to help Daniel and Ramon's next of kin. The moment the two young men pulled off to the side of the road with engine trouble, I knew something bad was going to happen, but I thought a deportation case might be looming, certainly not a police shooting. Ay de mi. This and the NYC case, sure gets awfully close to home.

What else could Daniel and Ramon have done? It's natural for guys to try to figure they could tinker with the stalled engine. They probably didn't have AAA. A couple of things that were wrong with this scenario--Daniel went off to look for help and DIDN'T take his cell phone; they BOTH locked their cell phone and the keys in the pick-up; Ramon should NEVER have reached into his back pocket without police instructions. But, we're in telenovelalaland and this is how it's played.

Thanks, Urban. He talked without even looking at her and she was confused at this. [She doesn't know this yet but even her sex theme music was intruded upon by Michelle.] Ha!

ITA all said on Lourdes. I don't get the point of keeping a friendship with Alicia when the ninny won't admit her husband is a scoundrel and a coward for leaving her (Alicia, not to mention Paula) alone to deal with the mess. Basta!

JudyB, there's dementia in my family too. I don't know the point of this storyline other than that Sofia needs to become less isolated and reach out for help from others, especially those who've already walked this path. Thankfully for her, right now her mom has some good days/hours when she's with it.

Anita, I hope it's Adrian and Sofia who go to LA to help Daniel and Ramon. Vicky is getting on my last nerve shunning Roberto and pretending she doesn't know Adrian is interested and knowing full well she has no va va voom feelings for Adrian.

UA: I'm assuming Camilla has dementia ?

I also had difficulty believing that both those guys locked themselves out of the truck and left their cell phones on the front seat. That's a mistake you learn not to make when you get your driver's license.

We were all predicting that Camila is suffering from something big and I think Alzheimer's will be the diagnosis. Sofia has to be in denial now and she will need help.

I think the writers are preparing us for a final showdown between Carlos and Alan. My only question is whether that will come before the one between Carlos and El Ciego.

This episode was abit unnerving. They
Shot that young Mexican and then lied
And said he attacked them. And They actually think they'll get away with it.
You're right Anita, he Never should have reached in his back pocket. This is way To much like what you hear on The evening news. Yeah it's close to home, It fell on The house. I want to see them wipe the floor up with these liars carrying guns and hiding behind the badge. And they're feeling no one will believe an immigrant over them.

Robby needs to stop going out to the
Bars and drinking with these women. So
When he Trys to talk to Vicky they won't be popping up Reminding her its
Why she won't trust him. He's ruining his chances messing with these other
Womens. And she's enjoying the chase.
She better be careful, he could get tried of the chasing her.

Lourdes needs to understand where Paula is coming from. The woman just lost her daughter, who warned her about
Gilty Gilbert before she died. And she
Probly wished she had listened to she
While she had the chance. She's maybe kickin herself. Its a Sad situation all around.

Carlos has it comin from both ends. He
Got himself into this mess. It'll be interesting to see how he gets out of
It. Or dies out of it.

Thank you Urban.

Nina--Just wanted you to know I read your posting. Lots of wisdom imparted. Love your zingers, especially your remarks regarding Carlos.

Thanks Ms Anita. The next few months should be interesting watchin these people Weavin in And out of their delimmas.
