Por Amar Sin Ley, Season 2 Martes 5/14/19 Episode 44: The Mighty Will Fall

I'm Christopher Mason. Sex has been a human weapon for as long as the species has walked the Earth. It's one of the universal languages. But the most universal thing about it is that it doesn't discriminate. It's a crime that can occur anywhere and everyone knows a perpetrator.

I'm Candice Delong. Sex crimes are a daily occurrence and it may not require genius to use someone's sex drive against them.

Ricardo told his children that Alejandra had been shot. They asked about danger and he told them he wasn't going to allow anything to happen to them.

Cristina's parents asked about what happened and she told them that this man didn't do anything to her. After Blums' threats she was afraid to take action, sure that no lawyer in the USA would take her case. Her father said that a Mexican one will.

Federico and Natalia were willing to give Ricardo space, but said they missed him and looked at photos of the things they used to do together. Natalia reminded him that Alejandra was in heaven and would want him to be happy. He decided to buy lots of ice cream for the kids and enjoy their company.

Sofia commented about how good it was to see Ricardo happy. Victoria explained that he adored the children and that when the firm was under attack his ex decided to take them out of the country. This led into a conversation about their own parents. Victoria's live elsewhere and she visits them when she can while Sofia told her that her father died some time ago and it's just been her and her mother.

It's too bad that Victoria didn't seem to notice Sofia's inappropriate interest in Ricardo.

Gustavo and Roberto talked about the kids being good for Ricardo, in fact the only thing that could make him go on. They sat down to talk about the investigation into Alejandra's death. It was confusing, as nobody seemed to have seen anything that could be a clue. Roberto saw this as a domino effect from the beginning with the Dorantes case and said they needed to go through it chronologically. Since Dorantes is dead, who is left?

Nancy sashayed into Carlos' office looking more suitably dressed for a night out than a day at the office. She thanked him for his trust in her. He said that all he asks is that she not tell anyone about this. She told him not to worry; “Your secrets are safe with me.” Of course, she was leaning over his desk.

Nancy Muñoz knew that she had the right weapons for this particular battle. It was just a question of timing.

Gustavo told Roberto they needed to go over 100% of every bit of information. Juan came in to talk to Gustavo about Fernanda's case. He confirmed that it was a challenge and said that Juan would have to prove that Fernanda had created the app before the sale of her friends' business. He said he would help. Juan went back to his office and Roberto said he would join him. Also that it was ironic that Juan's other cases were comparatively easy.

Ricardo took the kids for a walk in the park and ice cream. They talked about school; Federico mentioned having two Chinese friends.both had new friends at school and were happy to see that he had new friends at work. They decided to go to the movies.

Juan was working at his desk when Tatiana slithered in, wearing something that was too short to be called a dress. She pulled the “poor little me” thing by saying he must have forgotten to call her. She continued it when she sat down, took his hands, and said “The only person who worries about me is you.” Juan looked a little nervous.

Give me a break.

Adrián, Victoria, and Sofia came back from lunch to find the Valero family in the reception area. Both women recognized Cristina. Carmen told Sofia they were there to see her. She introduced herself and Cristina's father almost cried explaining that his daughter had suffered a grave injustice. Sofia took them back into her office.

Tatiana sang the same old song about not finding work and needing money to support her son and not wanting to go back to the stripper pole so as to be a decent example for her son. Punctuated with tears that disappeared when he said he would think of a way to help her. She got up behind him and kissed him all over his face. No tears when she went out the door.

Well, at least he didn't offer her any money.

Sofia told Cristina to tell her everything, starting from the initial incident when he got her alone in his hotel suite and exposed himself and finishing with the destruction of the report and the dismissal. Sofia told her that her dismissal was unjust and that sexual harassment was a crime. She asked about witnesses and Cristina named Sharon and Trevor, but didn't tell what they had said to her. Sofia took the case, saying that she had a colleague who had a license to practice in New York.

I really don't think that Cristina should have talked about this in front of her parents. She might have provided more detail if they hadn't been there.

Victoria and Adrián went to the library where they talked about Ricardo and his kids. Adrián admired her generous gesture in arranging this. He was getting complimentary and a little flirtatious when he took her hand and..... Roberto entered just in time to see this. Victoria got up from the table and told him that Adrián was helping her along the way to getting a license to practice in the US. Roberto said she should do well with that. While he expressed verbally that he had confidence in her ability for that his attitude made his annoyance and jealousy obvious. Adrián definitely caught this.

Sofia told Cristina that Blums committed a serious crime. Cristina only wanted to recover her dignity and be able to work in peace. Sofia told them that they had a relationship with a New York firm that would help with this case. She assured them that she would take care of this. Cristina was still afraid of the threats and Sofia told her that nobody is above the law and that Blums will have to answer for this.

Roberto dropped in on Juan, but had the wrong book with him. He didn't want to go back to the library and Juan asked why. Roberto started talking about the possibility of Adrián being a fake in his talk about women's rights and so on and Juan called him out on his jealousy. Roberto denied it but couldn't stop pointing out what he found objectionable about Adrián, including his good looks and the fact that he was from Spain. He even denied that this had anything to do with Victoria. Juan asked him why he didn't just patch things up with her. He said he would but also that he thought that Adrián was taking advantage of this situation and that wasn't kosher.

Roberto never considered that it's not kosher to fool around in the office.

Adrián was talking about varying laws when he noticed that Victoria was still bothered. He paused and asked her what the tension between her and Roberto was all about. She didn't want to talk about it. He apologized and went back to the book when Sofia entered and told him she needed his help with a difficult case in New York. She described the case and Victoria's dander got up. She said “Whoever he is, make him pay.” Sofia explained who he was and that he was the top financier in New York.

The horny young cop called Nancy to tell her that the edited video had been looked at by the relevant people and all was well. They were going to pursue other lines of investigation. Assured that everything was under control she thanked him and kissed the phone after he ended the call. She was pleased with the situation and herself.

Sofia finished retelling Cristina's story. Victoria was outraged and Adrián thought about next steps. He said this would be difficult but not impossible since this was a criminal case. They first needed to contact the Equal Opportunity Employment Commision in New York.”Harry Blums will suffer a lot more than he ever imagined.”

Ricardo took the kids home; they liked his new place very much.

Sofia and Adrián met with Alonso to brief him on the case. He warned them that while they have a good start they should not be overconfident regarding the trafficking of influence, which exists everywhere. He wanted them to keep him informed at every step and he would help if they needed an extra hand on deck.

Lourdes had coffee with Alicia, who said she was worried about Paula. She was still smarting from Paula's recent reproach and expecting her to be more understanding of Gilberto's bad luck. She actually asked Lourdes to try to convince Paula not to file a suit against Gilberto. Lourdes refused to do this, saying that she was not going to intefere with Paula's decision. Alicia understood that and then asked her to ask Alonso to defend Gilberto because she was afraid he would end up in prison. Lourdes looked like she didn't want to answer.

Alicia must never have seen Whatever Happened to Baby Jane because she looked too much like that character. Not to mention being just as delusional.

Alan went to talk to Carlos, to tell him about the case he thought he could easily win against Juan. Carlos was not particularly interested, especially when Nancy came in. She said this was about information he requested, but he said he would talk to her later. She left, closing the door. Alan got curious but Carlos wouldn't tell him anything. He tried to remind him of his place and that he alone made all the important decisions in the firm. Alan didn't like this and said so before he walked out.

Stupid Alicia asked again and Lourdes refused. She reminded her that Jaime and Alonso were best friends and Alonso would not go against him in court. Alicia talked about how desperate she was and Lourdes told her that she might help her if things were different.
She refused to get in the middle of this and recommended that she talk to Gilberto. Alicia said she had and that he had no money. Lourdes then suggested that she talk to Paula herself. Alicia did not answer; she looked like a child anticipating a spanking.

Nancy slithered into Carlos' office to talk to him but they agreed to do so away from the office. He was on his way home and agreed to allow her to follow him there.

Sofia went home to find Camila reading a book, a book she was sure Camila had previously read. Camila said she had bought it a long time ago, but hadn't read it yet. She asked Sofia about her day and she told her about Ricardo and the kids and how happy it made him to see them. Camila said that she hoped that Sofia would have that experience someday. Sofia looked as though she didn't want to talk about it. She did say that while she would like to have a family she had other priorities for the moment. She was fine for the moment. Camila thought there was more than her work. Sofia told her that the man she would want would have to accept her as she is. She finally got her to stop.

Gustavo arrived at Ricardo's place while Ricardo was playing video games with the kids. He wanted to talk about work, particularly the video. Ricardo suggested he stay and eat with them and they could talk about it after the kids were in bed.

As soon as Nancy arrived at his place Carlos offered her a drink. As he poured she told him what the horny – not to mention greedy – young cop had told her. He was pleased. She said that the alternate theories of the crime did not involve El Ciego. This was something to celebrate. Also that “sharing a secret frees you.”
She ditched her glass and slid her hands down his shirt and yet further south. She then moved in for the kill and began to devour his mouth. Carlos seemed to accept it, but suddenly moved away, but barely for a moment.

He turned around and they were on each other like participants at a vampire orgy.

Nancy looks like a candidate for the title Deadly Woman. If the corruption in the police precinct is ever investigated how many of its force will be able to identify her birthmarks?

That would be amusing. As amusing as Carlos having been her victim. Adrián and Sofia will need something to laugh about after the case they are facing now. Witnesses are a good thing, but other victims would be pure platinum for their case. Until next we meet Behind the Walls of Justice, I'm Christopher Mason.

Oh, goody, I get in first with my favorites!

“He turned around and they were on each other like participants at a vampire orgy.”

“If the corruption in the police precinct is ever investigated how many of its force will be able to identify her birthmarks?”

Thanks, UA! Gotta run to my meeting...

Me too Blue Lass. Those quips were exquisite. UA is so adept with a turn of phrase...like the turn of a knife.
Forgot to record this so doubly appreciative. Glad our hard-working Nancy won her first take-down. She’s been putting in heroic effort in that regard since the very first interview.

Gracias, amigas.

The writers are giving EODD here as in Equal Opportunity Desk Desecration to Carlos' firm.
Although there may be no need, as Carlos is single and not cheating on anyone. BTW, Eva Cedeno (Leticia of last season) is now on Un Poquito Tuyo as Antonio's sister. That series is on during "family hour" so I doubt we'll see much in the way of real sexual shenanigans there.

And her name is Leticia again...! That will make it easier for me to remember.

Thanks, UA for another recap well done.

I think Cristina's father is the son who lived on the hacienda in Destinos. I've also seen him in an English speaking Chantrix commercial.

Yes, he is! I always like seeing actors from that series although most of the older ones are gone now. The actor who plays Gilberto played one of his brothers.

I doubt either Sharon or Trevor will help Cristina.

Actually Trevor might be more likely to help Cristina than Sharon. Sharon is the one who told Cristina to go ahead and have sex with Blums if she knows what's good for her.

I don't think Carlos has had sex since Patricia from Season 1, episode 1. Alejandra is dead, he's single & Nancy is single. No use pining for a ghost.

Alicia needs to be slapped upside her stupid head. Her good friend Paula is about to be evicted from her house in a week because of her husband's shenanigans and all Alicia can think about is "What about me?" WHYYY would Alonso defend Gilberto against his good friend Jaime against Paula...and these two happen to be the parents of an lawyer from his firm.

Yes! Yes it is! I didn't recognize him without his high waisted slacks!

Thanks, Urban.

So funny that Roberto holds Adrian's good looks and being Spanish against him, but nope he's not jealous.

Nancy and Carlos, now that she's seduced him, maybe we'll find out the real reason she planted herself in his life. I have a cockamamie theory that she targeted him ages ago when she was a young'un. Maybe he was the lawyer for a relative or something.

Alicia is nuts. I wonder if Gilberto is sending her any money. Seems like she's been abandoned and doesn't even know it.

Well it didn't take fancy-hot-nancy to
Get passed carlos' zipper. Down hill from here.

Me thinks Sofia wants ricky. I'm Havin
Hard time thinkin ale is really dead.
Or maybe it just wishful thinking.
To be continued.......

Jaun is gonna get himself into stupid trouble. Is he that naive? Or stupid?
I guess we will find out.

Is Alicia stupid or what? When was the
Last time she talked to the dead beat husband? Where is he living? And why
Don't he have any money? What did he do with all that money he swindled Paula out of? Alicia need to take off
Black colored glasses. Cuz shes either
Blind or stupid. I wager both. And she
Kinda sad.

I'm just full of ???????

I hope they wipe the court room floor up with Blumass.

Thank you Urban

Gilberto gave me the creeps from the get go. Paula should have listened to Alejandra. Alicia is a dumb as a bag of rocks.

And for Alonso to take Gilberto's case would be a conflict of interest because Jaime works at Vega.

Sofia definitely wants Ricardo. So far she hasn't been stupid enough to tell anyone.

This season went into production almost immediately after the first one ended. They may not have known whether or not either of these actresses would be back for the long term. It didn't begin to air until months later. I don't know why that was, but it was not standard practice in novela production for a long time.

Geraldine Bazan is listed on IMDb as now being in a film that is currently in pre-production. Ana Brenda Contreras is in the new Dynasty. I really think that we will still see flashbacks to Alejandra but I doubt she is alive and in hiding.
