Por Amar Sin Ley, Season 2 Lunes 5/20/19 Episode 47: See You In Court

Scenes combined where it made sense to do so.

Mexico:

Ricardo told Fanny that under these conditions Janneth's parents could petition for custory of the girl. She cried. He told her they had to find a legal reason for her to get custody. That would include demonstrating to a court of law that she was important to the girl. Fanny asked whether there was hope and he told her there was. She trusts him.

Alan showed Carlos a bank statement showing a large transfer from Jaime, which was the repayment of the loan to Alejandra for the ransom. Carlos didn't want to take Jaime's money; he wanted to pay back El Ciego himself. Alan didn't understand this [nor do we]. It was Alejandra that Carlos wanted. Alan reminded him that she was dead and this was over. He reminded him he could not spend the rest of his life thinking about her. He went on with some sensible comments but it was as though Carlos wasn't listening. He intended to return the money to Jaime. He told Alan to do it. Alan picked up the report and left. Nancy came in immediately and asked what was wrong. He had a difference of opinion with Alan. Nancy came on to him but he looked less than truly interested.

Fanny left the Vega offices feeling a little better than when she arrived. The kids asked him why this lady was so sad and Ricardo told them that she had not seen her daughter. Natalia asked if he was going to help her and he said he was. [As immature as these kids are they are at least empathetic, which they more likely learned from Ricardo than from Elena.] Ricardo thanked Carmen and took the kids out for pizza.

Juan was having drinks with Roberto and Nicolás who gave him the same advice he gave Roberto. It came down to whether there was understanding. Juan realized that if Fernanda would not understand him that perhaps they don't belong together.

The kids told Ricardo that they didn't want to go back to Canada without him. He told them that he hoped that they could return home to Mexico soon. His work was there.

New York:

Adrián and Sofia met with Cristina to talk about taking an aggressive stance in her case. While Blums may have power, what he did is a crime.

Mexico:

El Ciego talked with his besties about El Gringo. El Ciego sounded like he was drunk when he said to gather their forces for the war.

Lucrezia entered the funeral parlor and saw Fanny by the coffin. She turned around and told Felipe (her huband) to take Carla for something to eat. He led the girl back out and Lucrezia went to Fanny to tell her that she didn't want to see her there. She objected to Fanny referring to her daughter as “my wife.” Fanny told her that she didn't care what other people thought. Lucrezia told her that if she didn't leave she would call security to have her thrown out. Fanny told her to do as she pleased; she was going to say goodbye to Janneth and would not move. Lucrezia walked past the other mourners as Fanny continued to cry.

Gustavo called Ricardo who explained that he has a civil case that just came in. Gustavo said he could not connect Carlos to the shooting although they both felt that Carlos' presence was not a coincidence. Gustavo said he would continue to look for more information. Ricardo sent the kids to bed.

Two security guards went up to Fanny and told her she had to leave or they would need to use force. She told them that the deceased was thelove of her life and she wasn't going to leave. Lucrezia told them to throw her out. The two guards quietly told her to leave and respect “the wishes of the family.” She pulled back from the two guards, telling them not to touch her. She walked out, giving Lucrezia a dirty look. The two guards followed her. Everyone turned to look. Lucrezia and Felipe went to the coffin and Lucrezia cried.

The next morning El Chivo and El Cuervo came back saying they had no new information. El Ciego got angry, saying they were good for nothing. He wastired of hearing this. He pointed his pistol right into El Chivo's chest and said not to come back until he had something.

Susanna asked Juan about Fernanda's case and he told her that he had gotten her 80,000 pesos but it wasn't enough for Fernanda. She wanted the app back but when he couldn't get it back for her she dumped him. He went on to say that she said that they now were too different. Susanna gave him the same advice as Nicolás, to give it a few days. He said – perhaps a little too vehemently – that this was it and it was over.

New York:

Arian and Sofia went to Blums' office and were intercepted by Trevor, who made them stand in a specific spot during this exchange. They told him they were there to talk to Blums about a former employee, Cristina Valero. Trevor tried to put them off with the usual excuse but Sofia told him that they were Ms Valero's lawyers. He told them to take a seat and someone will come to take them to the conference room. When that happened Adrián and Sofia were faced with a roomful of lawyers and no Mr Blums. One looked into the folder for a second and said that they had nothing to talk about. That there was nothing unusual about their client's dismissal except for her incompetence. That they were aware that Ms Valero told lies about this. Finally a very condescending comment about “I'm sorry you came all this way for nothing.” He then tried to end the meeting but Sofia stood and gaveit back in spades that what their client did was a crime. The lawyer threw something and said that Cristina only told her version of the story after being fired in order to take advantage of the company. A wave of attempted insults came and Adrián hit the table and told them that all their client was looking for is justice. Sofia told them that this will not end the way they want it to and Adrián said they will see them in court. They walked out, leaving the opposition to talk and Trevor not batting an eye.

Mexico:

El Chivo took a walk and was stopped by two men coming out of a van who caught up with him easily, as he was in his own world with his earphones in. They grabbed him and put him in the van.

Lorena brought Victoria some documents and was impressed with the books she was working with. Victoria explained what it was about and Adrián's name came up. Lorena is very impressed with him. Ricardo came in with the kids and asked Victoria if she could watch them while he was working on his custody case. She was happy to. Lorena asked if she could help and Ricardo agreed. They left Victoria's office and she figured out how to pass the time with the kids.

Michelle and El Gringo talked about El Ciego. She wanted to go back to the US but that was not possible at the moment. Someone appeared to tell them that they had grabbed one of El Ciego's men. Things seemed to be going their way.

New York:

Adrián and Sofia talked on the way back. He said that making this gesture for a settlement was a formality that would work in their favor. They now had to prepare their client for the court date.

Mexico:

Roberto walked in on Victoria and the kids and invited them for ice cream. She told him that Ricardo had left her in charge of them but he said she was also invited. Federico cajoled and thus Victoria accepted.

El Gringo entered and had his goon unmask El Ciego's goon. El Chivo made a threat or two but El Gringo wasn't phased. He told him “I'm not going to kill you. I just want to talk.” He obviously knew that El Ciego was batshit crazy and not easy to work for. He then opened a bag and took out several stacks of little green pieces of paper, saying he had lots more of them. And lots of connexions in the US. He offered El Chivo double what El Ciego was paying him. El Chivo didn't believe him. El Gringo said all he wanted was information. He slapped him lightly with some of the money. He'd give him double what he saw just for answering a few questions. If he refused he'd go back to El Ciego in pieces.

Jaime brought the documents to Paula for the demand of payment from Gilberto. She asked for a pen so she could sign and he told her she had to learn to read everything first. He pointed out the most relevant points and told her that if she agreed with these she should sign. She looked at them and said “I'm sorry, Alicia, but I must.” She signed all the necessary copies.

El Chivo speculated that this could be a trap. El Gringo told him it wasn't or he would already be dead. He was willing to negotiate. El Chivo asked for double the offer and he agreed. He then got the information he wanted regarding where El Ciego smuggled in his goods. He asked how El Ciego has managed not to get caught so far and El Chivo said “He has a lawyer for that.” El Gringo brought forth some more cash and asked for the lawyer's name.

Ricardo and Lorena went to Lucrezia's home and introduced themselves. She let them in and said she had nothing to talk to them about. Ricardo said they were there to discuss Carla, since her mother and their client had lived in a conjugal relationship. Lucrezia said that this was pecado and that her daughter had been a “normal” woman before meeting their client. She refused to allow her granddaughter to be near “this pervert.”

Roberto made another attempt at talking to Victoria about their misunderstanding while the kids got the ice cream. She refused. He wanted to take her out to dinner, but she refused again. The kids came back with four ice cream cones and things looked normal [but most likely are not that yet].

Ricardo and Lorena tried to get Lucrezia to understand the emotional impact on Carla. She replied that she was devastated at losing her daughter and that the one thing she could do was to “save” her granddaughter. She said that lawyers were only interested in their fees and in that case they had nothing to talk about. Ricardo said this was not the case. “We'll see you in court.”

Comments:

When Ricardo picked and carried the baby to bed, I ,thought if her mother had sent enough diapers for her!
And what have they been eating in Mexico? Junk and more junk....I’m looking at you, Ricardo. Mal, muy
mal.

I had thoughts like that, too. I also wonder what the child actress thinks at the end of a workday.

So, did El Chivo rat out Carlos or not? Since Nancy got him out of the slammer once she's also in danger here.

UA: I take it that Roberto doesn't get the hint yet.

I just remembered something. The kids were hungry for Mexican food because there isn't much of it in Canada. Some friends of mine had to move there when the man's parents started becoming ill and when they visited New York they wanted Mexican food because that didn't exist where they live. There are a couple of good places for it in my nabe.

Where is everybody?

Yesterday just got away from me UA. No time to check in and didn't get to see the episode until dinner time. These stories are frustrating because I find it hard to believe that hard-working lawyers can just merrily babysit Ricardo's toddler teenagers any time he requests. They're in a high-powered law office seems more like a social club/day care center. And for some reason, especially annoyed with the Alicia-Gilberto home embargo story and also the lesbian couple who never married in spite of having a child. Turning into a cranky old woman I guess! But always enjoy your superb, well-crafted recaps.

Good grief..my photo just reappeared. Computers are an absolute mystery to me.

The Alicia/Gilberto story bothers me, too because she is so stupid. How does Paula put up with that?

For all their immaturity Ricardo's kids are well-behaved and good-hearted. They must be easy to supervise.

The story of the lesbian couple is definitely a PSA to gay couples to get married if they have children or significant a$$et$ so that disapproving parents/grandparents can't mess things up. As soon as I saw them and that one had mysterious headaches I immediately thought that they were not married and that this would be the main problem in the custody suit that was waiting to happen.

Thanks, UA. I'm all caught up now.

ITA about the lesbian couple not marrying. With such mean, intolerant in-laws, getting legally hitched when they could should've been first on their list.

Paula even thinking "I'm sorry, Alicia, but I must" ticks me off. Alicia is a ditz and didn't know Gilberto would run off, but she did know his business dealings were shaky or he never would've asked her to help him get Paula into it.

I get nothing from Ric and Sofia together and the foursome with the kids was a snoozefest. Ric and Ale were better. But I do like Sofia going after Blume.

I like Juan and Fer together, but she's too quick to dump him when she's upset and he is soooo stoopid with Tatiana. I used to think Tatiana liked Juan a bit, but now I see her rolling her eyes when he's not looking. This is all about getting to his income.

And where is Javier? More Javier please.

Thanks, UA. I'm a little over halfway through this episode, but trying to get current and read the comments, too.

Re: "He [Juan] said – perhaps a little too vehemently – that this was it and it was over [with Fer]. Maybe a sugar plum like Tatiana was dancing in his head.

I think Alicia, FWIW, was duped by Gilberto into marrying him. She was probably jealous of Paula and her unseen boyfriend + her good relationship with an important man like Jaime as well as seeing Lourdes form a bond with another important man like Alonso.

She wanted to be in a relationship and this man offered it to her. I don't remember her seeing Gilberto in the first Season, but I may be wrong.

In any case, once he took off to work his "investments" and didn't return Paula's phone calls, she should at least have been suspicious, but she consistently supported and defended him, thus losing precious time that Ale and Paula could have had.

Niecie--I want me some more Javier, too. I can't get over his performance as a taciturn, lone-wolf kind of attorney, but am enjoying him whenever he's on and keeping Sofia at an arms length.

Good recap UA. These stories are getting intense.

That grand mother says she's gonna protect her granddaughter. It seems that she may have known her daughter was a lesbian and she didnt want to hear it back then either, so she's gonna What? protect her granddaughter from the world? Good luck granny.

That blum guy is disgusting. He reminds
Me of someone just like him who shall remain nameless. I Hope They clean his
Clock and pour acid on It.

Alicia ain't to bright, she married a
Con man.

Carlos n nancy, what a hot mess.
Alan, use your imagination.

El ciego, also use you imagination. And then run. Fast.

Where is Javier. I like the roughness of his character. I think he's perfect for sofia. But the writers don't know that yet.

Ok I'm caught up now. I actually didnt
See this last night, I forgot it was on.

Thank you Urban.
