I only saw the last maybe 15 minutes
Of this episode. Ricardo was sulking because marina told him about the last year of her life? I think. Moma tryin
To encourage her boo not to give up.
But he really should, they are not engame. Im not sure. Ill know when I read a recap of this epi.
Part 1
As usual, our impetuous, love-struck folks are getting into trouble left and right, while declaring themselves free of the past. Don't believe a word of it. Everybody's dragging around old ghosts of old loves and it's getting very messy indeed. Even Baby is letting out querulous squawks from time to time.
So here's what happened today. Doc B is still gushing that he wants to protect Marina, take care of her, love her (and tries to kiss her..yikes!) and....here it comes....NO ME TOQUE! [Don't touch me!] Marina is horrified. Doc B is devastated. She can't get out of there fast enough! Oh my. Dashes for the door. Collapses in Baldomero's arms. He does the usual Calm Down! Breathe! business while she fills him in on the dreadful doings. And I'm not going back there ever! (So much for paying off the surgery.) Poor gal is catnip to every doctor ever born, evidently.
And dang it, one of those lusty docs is surviving nicely. At the hospital, they've injected Doc Mask's rotten heart with adrenaline and he's come back to life. And he's as mad about it as we are.
In the meantime, Lucreepy, in relentless pursuit of Beto, is faring a little better than Doc B. She's eating him up with kisses and he's letting her. He tries to slow things down with a little "I don't know where we're going with this" but she forges ahead, saying "Let's let Destiny decide." And evidently Destiny is saying More kisses! More, more more!
Lino is wandering around the house with the papers to sign, asking Hortensia where Prudencia might be, when Susana the Terrible sweeps in and snarls "I'll take care of this!" She thinks she's going to terrify the "disgusting ranch hand" but Lino is more than a match for her. He coolly informs her that he's aware of Vanessa's engagement and is fine with it. Cara impactada de Susana. But not so overwhelmed that she doesn't rush off to find Vanessa and warn her that she'd better be careful who she sees now that she's an engaged woman. No problem. Her lunch date is with Lucretia.
The lunch date turns out to be a sequel to Lucrecia's Googling everything she can about Beto. Vanessa tries to play it cool saying that it's great Beto is moving on. Well, we're not getting married, counters Lucrecia. Good. Beto doesn't like being pressured. (you can see Lucreepy filing that one away.) But she gushes on...At first I thought he was a freak. But now I'm crazy about him!
Well he doesn't like to talk about Marina.
So THAT'S her name!
Well, don't worry about her. She's the one who ended it and she wants nothing to do with him now.
Lucrecia is practically licking her lips now, thinking she has this guy truly nailed down, tied up, gift-wrapped and ready to be eaten. In one gulp.
In the meantime, Doña Encarnación is consoling Sonny Boy. Don't worry...you can fix things up tomorrow. I really like Marina for you. And she brought this lonely old widow back to life!
Part 2
A very shaken Marina is back home, being quizzed by Damiana and fibbing like mad. Not going back? How are you going to pay for the surgery? Baldomero tries to help by saying Marina got in trouble with Mama Encarnación. Damiana looks supicious. But Damiana always looks suspicious. Or pissed off. Sooo.....
Let's leave this scene to join Luis and Chucha in bed. Noooo, not that way! But they're chatting post-coitus, and she's wanting to know why he hired Lino as a chauffeur.
He's a good man. Honest. His organic crop turned out well. Loyal, hard-working fellow.
If I asked you to fire him, would you?
Luis says nothing. But cocks one eyebrow. Wheels are turning for sure.
And wheels are spinning back at the vecindad. Doc B has rushed over to try and salvage the situation. He's apologizing and begging forgiveness and whoa! sees the baby and finds out that he's Alberto Ocaranza's son. This actor is really good at looking STUNNED. He continues that way for the whole sad conversation about the marriage being null and void because of a bureaucratic mistake, but also because Beto's love was "muy chiquito" and not nearly big enough to keep the marriage and the relationship going.
But I'll be fine raising my son as a single mom like so many women in this country!
Credit Marina, she doesn't hold anything back. She also tells Doc B that the man who looked for her in the clinic raped her back in Valle de Bravo. Doc B at this point has that Too Much Information look on his face, but he hangs in there. Better Than Beto as we say.
Beto, on the other hand, recovering from Lucreepy's latest lusty assault, is dreaming of Marina and wondering why he can't forget her. Darn that baggage!
Part 3
A very caring nurse, who doesn't seem put off by Doc Mask's horrendous scars, is tenderly ministering to him and warning him that if he doesn't quit drinking, he will die. (If things don't work out with the hooker, he should check out this gal.)
But I want to die! wails Isauro.
The nurse suggests therapy instead. And it's free!
But back to Luis and Susana. He's out of bed, grumpy as hell, shouting that he doesn't want no damnfool wimmin meddling in his bidness!
Just gave you my opinion, coos Susana.
No! You told me to fire him!!!!
Chucha doesn't want her man leaving this way, all angry and ruffled, so she drops the satin sheets she's wrapped in....and here's where Andy's gripe comes in....all we see are the sheets around her feet. But from the look on Luis' face, the full vista is a lot more inspiring.
And Round 2 of the Nooner only Sooner begins.
It's a lot less interesting elsewhere, but needs must. Lino is getting a pep talk from the tireless Anita about staying positive, focusing on his music, moving on, blah blah blah, but she's so sweet and he's so grateful, he thanks her and gives her a kiss on the cheek. Almost hurts to see how smitten and grateful she is.
Marina and Doc B are still rehashing the Doc Isauro debacle. Ricardo is sharing that he admires her all the more, knowing the horrors that she's been through. Well, she thought Doc Isauro loved her like a daughter. But no! And when Beto learned what happened, he said he could no longer feel the same way about her. So she's NOT coming back to work. Better to dedicate herself to her one true love--the only man in her life--little Baby Rafael.
And now for some meddling parents: First Doña Chole, who's questioning why Anita wants to dedicate herself to some guy whose heart clearly belongs to another. Annie Optimistic says that could change. Mama Pessimistic says the real guy for Anita might come along, and she'd miss him while mooning over Lino. She's going to bury Saint Antonio upside down and hope for good results. [I'll explain that practice later on.]
Meddler No. 2, Doc Zamudio. Turns out he's right happy over the Alberto-Lucrecia noviazgo. He's never seen his daughter so happy! Let's go out and celebrate right with some red wine, some red meat and dancing!
And back to the dark side: Bewildered nurse and doc come into Isauro's room to find him missing. And no way to contact him. No address. No telephone number. No family. Nada.
Part 4
Ramona of the Horrible Hair is pitching a fit at the local police digs, wailing that it's been two days since Doc Isauro has answered his phone and SHE'S FRANTIC. Official is unimpressed. We have to wait 72 hours before doing anything.
Well, if you're worried about Doc Mask, he has lurched back to his dark lair and is brooding in the dark. While Erasmo, for reason, has decided to break into his Valle de Bravo home to see if he's really moved out. Ramona arrives, hears a noise and thinks it's Bad Doc. Erasmo hides, then sneaks out. But is convinced Doc Mask still lives there and hurries back to the ranch to reassure Margarito.
Debriefing session back at the vecindad. Marina is explaining why she'll never go back to work for Ricardo. Toribio and Damiana are trying to persuade her to return. Toribio thinks he's "buena gente" and Damiana thinks he'd be a good dad to Baby Rafael. No no no, Marina can never love again! But you still love Toribio, right? he pips. Of course. You're unique. Indeed he is.
Luis has finally arrived home and is working off excess energy hectoring Prudencia. Where are you all the time?...at your little foundation!!?? Why can't you be better organized and be home all day?
Why should I sit around, doing nothing, waiting for my husband to finally show up? she counters.
Well, you should have been here today to sign those papers Lino brought over.
I WILL sign them. But not before reading every single word.
Don't you trust me?
Well, YOU don't trust anyone!
Luis storms out, sweeping Angustias aside (is that a cup of Universal Solvent tea she's bringing?) and she decides to put a bug in Prudencia's ear.
Why's he giving you a hard time about never being home? Have you noticed he's never here to eat anymore? And is arriving home later and later every evening?
Prudencia is looking very thoughtful indeed.
Ep 47: Part 1 Flor Ponders Living with a Ghost
Tere and Nestor go to their respective app dates. Tere’s date ends up being Vicente; so they pretend to have met casually and promise not to tell anyone what happened or that they had seen each other. Nestor’s date was an 80 year old gringa so he decides to give up on online dating.
Rose sees Ati and Mariana having coffee at a café; so she goes and plops herself down and starts chatting with her “cuñis” (sister-in-law) and mentioning how Mariana and Aure are always breaking up and getting back together. After Rose gives herself accolades about being such a successful business woman, Ati finally tells Rose that he was having a private discussion with Mariana; so Rose not-so-gracefully bows out. Later, Ati suggests that he cook dinner for Mariana at her house to avoid any gossip.
Chile is practicing a sermon about finding peace when Val appears. When Val tells Chile that Flor can’t make up her mind about forgiving him and that she is only with Teo out of spite, Chile tells him that he shouldn’t judge because he will then be judged. Val insists that if people hadn’t talked badly about him, Flor would have not married Teo. As Chile prepares to give his spiritual advice to Val, Val hears Flor calling to him..
Flor summons Val and asks him if he continued to con people after they were married and wonders if he was planning to con her too. Val replies that he would never cheat her and asks her to hold his hands so that she can “see” how he tried to change for the better and earn an honest living after they got married. Flor sees Val’s memory of how he told Chile that he needed to sell tacos to make an honest living…all for Flor. Val continues that his love for her changed him because he wanted to be worthy of her. She made him better and taught him how to do things the right way. Val admits that he cheated while gambling at the casino, but he was going to pay Octi back by working for him. Everything he did, he did for her and for the children they wanted to have. His whole life was her. Val then asks if Flor will forgive him; she responds with a very loving hug and she nods that she does forgive him and kisses him. Just then, Teo enters and sees her in her kissing pose and asks what she is doing. He sits beside her as he asks if she is okay since she is crying. Meanwhile Val is urging Flor not to leave him as he crouches beside Teo. Flor looks at both of them, stands and goes upstairs.
Lalo and Gris are in bed post coitus. Lalo is hoping for a more serious relationship with her, but Gris doesn’t think her aunt will approve of her seeing a divorced man. Mariana walks in on them, gasps and makes a quick u-turn out of the room. Later, Mariana talks to them about being more careful and respecting her house since there is a child living there. Both Lalo and Gris promise that this will never happen again.
Teo goes upstairs to check on Flor. She lies and tells him that she was emotional because she was thinking of her father. Val is there urging Flor to give him some time so they can finish talking. Teo tries to kiss her, but she turns away and tells him that she needs to go take a walk…alone.
Flor goes on her walk and sits on a bench. Teo, who has followed her, watches as Flor converses with Val; she can’t believe that she couldn’t kiss Teo…for a moment she felt like she was betraying Val. What is happening is not easy…it’s like she’s cheating on her husband with her husband. Val confides that it hasn’t been easy for him either since he has been watching her for quite some time. Flor points out that Teo, who is alive, is her husband, but Val knows by her look that she misses him.
Ep 47: Part 2 Flor Ponders Living with a Ghost
Nestor goes to Oscar and gives him a petition signed by the townspeople demanding that Celeste’s program be shut down since the woman is generating a outcry with her outrageous gender ideas. After Oscar points out that he won’t do anything because everyone has a right to the freedom of speech, Nestor warns that he is not going to rest until he finds Celeste and her broadcasting station.
Teo returns to his office and tells Mica how Flor has been acting strangely….she seemed like she was having an intense conversation with someone who was not there. Mica shares that she has seen Flor talking to herself too. She advises Teo to observe Flor and to be careful not to tell Flor that she is crazy.
Rose runs to Aure and tells him that he should keep Mariana under control since Mariana is going around town freely and seeing other men. Aure replies that he divorced Mariana and she can do whatever she wants.
Val and Flor continue to talk. She wonders what kind of life Val expects her to have living with a ghost. She can’t just go tell Teo that Val has returned…she has developed strong feelings for Teo. Val tries to convince her to let him stay with her to make her happy…he can even help her with chores. Flor thinks that what Val is saying sounds good but it is insane. She then asks Val to not go by the house that night.
Rose tells Tere that she has a new love interest and she is not going to let anyone come between them (here we go again!).
Val tells Chile that Flor forgave him. Chile is glad that Val found his inner peace just as he did. Val is dancing a jig as he tells Chile everything he plans to do with Flor, but Chile wonders why Val would throw Flor into a world of sin…Flor is married. When Val responds that after Flor fulfills her wifely duties with him, she can go fulfill her duties with Teo, Chile throws “Thou shall not covet thy neighbor’s wife” at him. Val insists that he married Flor first. Chile then asks if Val won’t be jealous, but Val insists that he is NOT jealous.
Flor returns home and hugs Teo tightly and kisses him since she couldn’t kiss him before. Teo asks what she would like to do. After her suggests several things they can do, Flor tells him to relax; everything is fine.
At the casino, Tito sees Lola crying because she should have been the one to go to the audition in Mexico City instead of Gris…instead she is stuck in the casino working for a few cents. Tito encourages her by telling her that she dances like an angel, has a pretty face, and she has the body of one of those statues in the middle of fountains at a plaza. She should relax…because it she does good, then good will come to her.
Teo and Flor are in bed facing opposite sides…both are awake as Val watches them from the door.
In the morning, Flor goes to the kitchen to find that Val has made an elaborate breakfast. When Flor rolls her eyes and complains that he isn’t going to give up easily, Val suggests that they not argue on the first day after their reconciliation…they should spend the day together. At the end of the day they can discuss what she liked and what she didn’t like so he can improve on whatever she didn’t like. Just then, Teo walks in and praises Flor for making such a grand breakfast. Val tells Flor to enjoy her breakfast…he will go finish the laundry.
Nestor uses a lift to find Celeste’s radio antenna. He takes his partner to Celeste’s station and they start gathering everything…they are confiscating everything on the pretext that Celeste is inciting gender issues. Nestor thinks it is odd since no one has ever seen a woman enter this building. After the partner comments about the wig and all the make-up…as if someone is dressing up as a woman, Nestor deduces that Celeste was is the pervert and was talking about herself when she read the letter. Just then, Oscar enters and asks what is going on…and Nestor wonders what Oscar is doing there.
Final Part
Toribio is telling Marina that thanks to the pills, he's sleeping "a pierna suelta" [like a log] And no nightmares. But he's dreaming of an old patron sending him off on a hunt. And he hears a shot but doesn't know where it's coming from.
I imagine we'll get various teasing clues as to what really happened to Toribio as time goes on.
In the meantime, Mom Encarnación wants some clues herself. What happened? Did you convince her to come back, she queries her son.
No! She's never coming back. I had no idea what she went through. She loved a man who was not worthy of her.
All the more reason she should return! argues Mom
NO, Mama! She doesn't want me to get my hopes up. I totally blew it.
Mom looks crestfallen. And Doc B looks absolutely distraught. Even his hair looks devastated.
Back at the ranch, Erasmo is sharing mistaken info on Doc Isauro and Margarito goes off to reassure Damiana she has nothing to worry about. But Erasmo wants Yola to know that her Dad is really hurting a lot more than he lets on. He's got pain in his knee and his hip and further studies need to be done. Studies that can only be had in the capital. Aha! Now we know how Margarito is going to end up in town. It's certainly getting crowded in Mexico City!
New developments with Big Ed. He wants Vanessa to have dinner with him tomorrow. She tries to beg off with a planned tennis match, but when he tells her the dinner is with HIS MOM, she caves. And Chucha arrives right on cue and will be included in the dinner plans also. Can't wait to see that!
Meanwhile, Lino evidently has a third song in his quiver and he's dedicating it to Anita who just walked in the bar. The lyrics are everything a lovestruck young woman wants to hear and she's even more smitten, if possible.
Baby Rafa is crying a bit (at last, some realism) and Marina whispers to him that she's sad too, whenever she thinks of his dad. Sigh.
But wait! There's a knock at the door. Is it Beto?--that disappointing dad? Nopis. But even better. It's Hot Rod Mama Encarnación, looking determined and dedicated.
I HAVE TO SPEAK WITH YOU! she tells Marina.
And there we end.
# # #
But there's a little PS. Saint Anthony is the Patron Saint of Lost Things and supposedly, according to one tradition, if you bury him upside down in your garden, you'll find what you're looking for. Sounds like we need to invest in a lot of these statues and get these characters' love lives straightened out post haste!
Gosh, guess I didn't get my recap up fast enough. There's a Part 5 after the two Flor Highlights.
Rgv Chick...I love Chile and his spiritual posturing. Don't know if he's convincing Valentin, but he's sure amusing me. Slowly getting up to speed on some of the doings around town, but it will take me a while. Flor has an embarrassment of riches with two gorgeous men vying for her attention. Tough work if you can get it.
Thanks for all you do.
Judy, Thank you for another great recap. Awesome snark. And a perfect title. I really wish I had time to watch all these episodes, and maybe this weekend. I'm too exhausted to quote (I'm even going to order pizza delivered for supper), but please believe me when I say your recaps are a total hoot. Millones de gracias, amiga!
And our story marches on. On the Bingo front, another bingo square gets marked up, and I need a "derailed wedding" to yell BINGO. Would Ed & Vanessa's count, if she ends up dejandole plantada? A nice automobile accident would do nicely, too.
JudyB, thank you for this especially great recap! I think you pulled out all the stops on this one.
"Damiana looks suspicious. But Damiana always looks suspicious. Or pissed off." She manages a smile once in a while, usually with the baby, but otherwise she is a bit scary. Baldo would be better off with doña Toolbelt.
One more entry for the "There just ain't no justice in this world!" file: morally challenged Doc Beto tells Rapunzel that she's sorta OK, and she jumps him to do the Mexican Body Meld; decent guy Doc Bazán tells Marina that he loves her and she runs away screaming. (add a copy to the "Nice guys finish last" folder.)
Judy, "A very caring nurse, who doesn't seem put off by Doc Mask's horrendous scars, is tenderly ministering to him and warning him that if he doesn't quit drinking, he will die. (If things don't work out with the hooker, he should check out this gal.)" I was thinking the same thing. I don't know if it was pure professionalism or that reaction we sometimes have coming across an injured bird that can't fly, but she really did take good care of him. Lucky for him they only get one or two patients a day at that hospital.
But I'm going to make one of my bold (and so far always wrong) predictions! Doc Mask and Ramona will pair up somehow. There seem to be no truly, thoroughly evil people in this TN, not even Doc Eeww. Remember, he did save Marina's life, and he couldn't rape her. (that has to be a first, a guy claiming he did rape some woman when he didn't.)
Equis. Doc Mask and Ramona pair up, and in compensation Ramona gets (free!) psychological counseling with Nurse Nice and fast tracked for sainthood.
Uh, oh. Now Lino is sitting on the arm rest of the sofa. It's catching!
Sherlock Angustias is putting a bug in Prudy's ear!
Excellent episode and an excellent recap. Thanks, Judy, and enjoy your vacation.
andy
Judy: WTH is Prudencia still married to Don Jackass ?
Andy: Creepy Doc homeless ? Did the law enforcement agencies kick him out of his house ?
I Just finished watching this episode. Observations:
Looks like Doc Hair is on the grey suit/pink shirt bandwagon with Luis.
Baby Rafa's hair is the same color as Beto's. Isn't that all the DNA test one needs in telenovelalandia?
When did baby Rafa get a new bassinet? This is the second one, and he's not even ready for a crib. Craigslist must be awesome there.
Andy - "... Doc Eeww. Remember, he did save Marina's life, and he couldn't rape her."
I'll give you that much, but, still.... He might not be evil so much as must plain crazy. He and Ramona deserve each other.
Now, about these mis-matched couples,
What the hell wrong witchall?
Beto is so disappointing,he didn't try
To fight for marina. And when he told her about the typo thing with the marriage certificate, missed it by one letter in her name, he didn't show her
Any empathy.
Vanesa, is a train wreck. She did not
Get that way by herself, her mother had Her since she was a born. I want to see the episode when she finally grows A spine. And tell her slutty mom
Where to go.
Sweet Anita. Gonna get her sweet heart
Broken. And her mother looks like shes
Big enough to break lino in two. Guess why.
Damiana, I'm not feelin it between her and baldy no more. And I don't think neither one of them is feelin it at al either. Movin on. To margarito.
Ed does not match vanesa in the happy
forever after category. Maybe in another tn.
So much baggage. It's exhausting to write about. But Just think it'll all be happy happy joy joy in the end.
Ramona's hair looks like she tryin to relive her high school days in the 80s
The only thing missing is the big pads
On her shoulders.
Thanks again JudyB.
Steve: no, he has an apartment in CDMX now. He just went on a jag and collapsed in the street a couple of times.
Doris: "He might not be evil so much as must plain crazy. He and Ramona deserve each other." Oh, you just like to drop anvils on people, look at your avatar. :-)
:-)
andy
Let’s not forget the closeup of the cell phone Doc dropped. Has to figure somehow
Loved Lino standing up to Sue
Looks like Sue may be wearing out her welcome. Must be time for her to fill in Pru as a desperate last measure
I am really looking forward to meeting Big Ed’s mom
Mely
Judy - I'm sending you good vibes for safe, uneventful travel today.
Meeting Big Ed's mom might be fun. Did any of you see the movie Sixteen Candles and remember the pre-wedding dinner with the Oily Bohunk and his parents? That is what my imagination is conjuring up for today.
JudyB, so sorry I intruded on your recap...which is funsational as ever. I was in a hurry and didn't notice you hadn't finished posting the final part. SOOORRY!
Doris, "I need a "derailed wedding" to yell BINGO." Wouldn't Marina's and Beto's wedding count as a derailed wedding? I would think so..it wasn't derailed while it was happening, but Don Louse sure did derail it afterward!
Andy, "Doc Beto tells Rapunzel that she's sorta OK, and she jumps him to do the Mexican Body Meld; decent guy Doc Bazán tells Marina that he loves her and she runs away screaming. (add a copy to the "Nice guys finish last" folder.)" Good one as was "Doña Toolbelt" :-)
JudyB, "Mom looks crestfallen. And Doc B looks absolutely distraught. Even his hair looks devastated." Loved this! BTW, Doc B has that same wisp of hair falling in front of his face....reminds of Pru's wisp tha she was always trying to get out of the way. So are "wisps of hair in the face" a thing now?
Nina, "Damiana, I'm not feelin it between her and baldy no more." I'm not feelin' it either. Actually I never really got a "feel" for them...it's all one-sided...on Baldo's side.
Can't wait for that dinner with Mama Big Rigs; maybe she'll be the one to run over Chucha :-D
JudyB, I do hope you have a safe and enjoyable vacation. I will think of you every day...and I do mean e-v-e-r-y-d-a-y! LOL Have fun!
I think I got the general idea of what passed with Big Ed's mom and the others, but I would have a much better idea if I understood more of what was said. In any case, it looks like it should be interesting and it seems that Vanesa might be enjoying her mother's discomfort.
Doña Toolbelt was very slick in sabotaging Damiana. Well, Margarito is in town now, so we'll see what happens, aside from that bone crushing handshake. Baldo better be careful, if he and Damiana break up and he should wind up in the arms of Doña Toolbelt he might just have a couple of broken ribs to deal with.
Poor Lino has problems on every front. At least he didn't just tail Prudy like Don Louse wanted, though how long the charade can last I don't know.
If at the end of this TN Marina winds up back with Beto rather than with Doc Ricky Bazán, I'm going to demand my money back! Ummm, well, equis.
andy
Andy - "equis" ... LOL.
I'm so fed up with Beto and Marina that it would be fitting and logical punishment for them to end up together.
Ep 65: Part 1 Close Encounters of Every Kind
We start off with HotRod momma going to visit Mariana. She first apologizes for the joy ride, but the main reason she is there is to speak for sonny boy who is very embarrassed about revealing his feelings which led to her resignation. Marina insists that she cannot return Dr. B’s feeling…she has a son. Encarny doesn’t know what plans Marina has, but she would like it very much if Mari returned to work at the office…and assures Mari that sonny boy will behave. Mari doesn’t feel right about working with Dr. B now that she knows how he feels. She explains that love left her very hurt and she wouldn’t be able to reciprocate Dr. B’s feelings. Encarny hopes Mari understands that she had to make the attempt and hopes that they can still be friends.
Baldo helps Ms. Toolbelt who has looselips; she tells him that he doesn’t deserve...and leaves him hanging and wondering what he doesn’t deserve. After Baldo insists, Ms. Toolbelt tells him that she feels angry that Baldo is such a gentleman and so attentive, yet Damiana doesn’t seem to feel for him what he feels for her. Ms. Looselips adds that she knows how kind Damiana can be because she overheard Dami talking to Mago on the phone.
Yola talks Mago into going to the city with the pretext of having to go for some paperwork for her studies. Mago suggests that she can stay with Lino, but Yola insists that he go too…maybe they can go see Lino at his talent show.
Dami tries to convince Mari to keep working for Dr. B, but no dice…Marina needs to find a job that pays better than the job at the market. She wants to pursue a career in medicine like Dr. B and Alberto…oops did she say that?
Encarny goes to tell Dr B that she went to see Mariana, but Mari has no intentions of falling in love again. Dr B confides that the man Mari loves works there and he even helped him get the job. Encarny thinks Mari still has feelings for the man and wonders if Beto is seeing some one. She suggests that Dr. B needs to take a risk—Dr B can be the architect who rebuilds Mariana’s relationship with Alberto…or he can be the man who can make Mari forget Alberto so that she can fall in love with him.
Lino is summoned by Don Louse; he wants Lino to follow Pru and report back to him. Lino questions Don L’s request , but the Bossman has spoken!
Vane and Chucha are with Mr Big Chains waiting for Mamma Big Rigs who also works at the company; in fact had it not been for her, Daddy Big Rigs wouldn’t have been able to make it big. As Su starts to describe the wedding which she…err, Vanessa wants at night with lots of lights, they hear a woman shout out, “No way!” They turn and there is Mama Big Rigs who has always dreamed of seeing her son dressed up in “smokin” and entering a church during the day. Chucha looks like she just ate a roach.
Pru and Angsty are looking at Beto’s baptism robe and discussing Rafy’s baptism. Angsty suggests that Pru discuss it with Marina before making any plans.
The luncheon continues as Momma Big Rigs insists, in her high-resonating voice, that the wedding be during the day since they aren’t trying to hide anything from anyone, but Big Chains interjects that the purpose of the luncheon was that she meet his bride to be who Momma Big Rigs thinks is quite pretty but quite young…though the one who is a nag is the mother. When Edson thinks the wedding should be as Vanessa wants it, Vanessa quickly turns to her mother who knows exactly how she wants the wedding.
Dr. B, who looks like he combed his hair a bit, goes to visit Mari to offer her a job at the hospital. Mari who hasn’t bee able to find a job because she doesn’t know how to use a computer, accepts the job offer from Dr. Be an Angel.
Ep 65: Part 2 Close Encounters of Every Kind
Lino, who is much more loyal to Pru than Don Louse (and rightfully so) runs to Pru and, standing like a polite schoolboy, tells her that Don Louse has asked him to spy on her. Pru can’t believe it and worries because Mari doesn’t want anyone to find out where she lives. Lino suggests that she can tell him what to write and he will report whatever she says to Don Louse.
Dr. B tells Encarny that Mari agreed to work at the hospital…and reminds her that it is he who wants to be the one to try to get Mari back together with Beto. Encarny then tells him that she needs to take a course to get her license.
Zackrat goes to Doc Mask’s house to report about Mago going to the city with his daughter…but Doc is nowhere to be found so he leaves a message with Ramona.
Doc Mask follows Mari who is accompanied by Anita. He is glad that Mari is never alone; that way no man will get close to her…and if a man does get close to her, Doc will kill him.
Baldo’s green-eyed monster emerges and questions Dami about her phone call. As Dami reminds him that she is with him, Mari arrives with the sweet bread which Tori is very happy to see. Right behind them comes Pru and Lino. When Pru tells them she wants to discuss the baptism and Angsty asks who the godparents will be. Tori quicky declares that it’s his turn to be a godparent because Baldo was a witness at the wedding. Everyone just stares, so Mari tells them everything will be fine.
Marina (note that she is wearing her big glasses) is at her desk as Dr. B explains her duties. When she goes to get coffee for Dr. B, Beto catches sight of her and is blown away because she’s there…and because she didn’t seem to see him.
Lino is leaving his apartment when he sees Yola and Mago walking up. Not a good surprise, but he eventually pretends that he is elated that they are there. Yola hopes that they can stay with him. Ms. Toolbelt approaches and isn’t too enthused that they will be staying with Lino and the crowd. Once inside, Mago and Yola are surprised that everyone lives there…but they still figure out a way to stay there.
Doc Mask is sitting outside the hospital wondering why Mari is at the hospital…he thinks she may have had a setback.
Lino calls Don Louse and reports that Pru is at a foundation and stayed there for a long time. Lino then tells Don L that he won’t be able to follow Pru anymore that day since his dad and sis dropped in on him (like a bomb). Don L warns him that this better not happen again. Later, Yola tells Lino about their father needing some exams to get a diagnosis. She thinks that if Lino tells Mago that it was his idea to take him to a hospital, Mago won’t get too upset.
Mari sits with Dr. B and tells him that she wants him to continue giving her the vision therapy...the exercises he gave her have helped her very much. Dr. B then tells Mari that she will be earning more now…it’s company policy. When he mentions that he is looking for a nurse because his nurse is retiring, Mari confides that she wants to be a nurse and then continue on to be a doctor. Dr. B thinks she is so courageous that she can do anything she sets her mind to do.
Doc Mask goes to buy a phone with his TN pesos and calls Dr. B’s office. When he hears Mari’s voice, he figures that she is now working there and, after he uses the excuse of making an appointment, Mari looks at the appointment book (without her big glasses) and tells him that there are no appointments for the day. Doc will call later and tells her that she has a very nice voice. Mari is surprised with his comment.
Lino and Yola take Mago to the hospital to get examined. Mago is upset that they tricked him into going there and worries about the costs. He refuses to be examined, but Lino and Yola rule. Yola thinks Lino is doing very well at his job and can probably pay for the exams.
Ep 65: Part 3 Close Encounters of Every Kind
Mari is practicing and learning her keyboard letters as Dr. B watches proudly. As they wait for Dr. B’s next appointment, Mari shares that she worries about her son’s baptism because she needs godparents, but she doesn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. Dr. B likes how Mari is always worrying about others, but she will figure it out (not much help!)
LuCreepyEyebrows tells Beto about some volunteer work she is doing…she needs a kiss like right now. Beto thinks there are too many people around, but Lucreepy thinks people will find out about them sooner or later. As they kiss, Mago sees them, Meanwhile. Lino and Yola are shocked with the cost of the exams, but they know their dad needs the exams; so Lino calls Dr B to ask about the card Dr. B gave him when Mari needed help.
Doc Mask calls Ramona who asks when he will be taking her to the city, but Doc needs her there to show the house to possible buyers. Ramona then tells him that Zackrat went by to report that Mago and Yola have gone to the city.
Lino is sitting with Mago and Yola. When he sees Mari approaching, he runs to her and shows her that Yola and Mago are there. Mari touches Yola’s face and thinks she is very pretty…
Rgv Chickie, thank you! I don't know which of your clones did this recap, but it was great, and is appreciated. Just like old times :-)
They did a nice job of getting Marina back working with Doc Ricky again. It took the Doc and his mom several tries and lots of reassurances before she gave in. There's no way to accuse our poor little formerly-blind girl of taking advantage of the doc's feelings for her. And I think her glasses are really cute.
"When she goes to get coffee for Dr. B, Beto catches sight of her and is blown away because she’s there…and because she didn’t seem to see him."
I do have to wonder, if she had looked at Beto would she have recognized him? And why is some other doc doing everything for this woman he did/maybe/didn't marry? And now he just stands there like a dummy? I do NOT want this guy to get our sweet Marina. Nor even get Rapunzel, we'll save her for Kirby. Maybe Ramona if Ramona doesn't pair up with Doc Mask.
"Lino and Yola are shocked with the cost of the exams, but they know their dad needs the exams; so Lino calls Dr B to ask about the card Dr. B gave him when Mari needed help."
OK, I have forgotten, or maybe never understood, what kind of card this is. Is this how Toribio got treated? A magic card maybe?
"Mari touches Yola’s face and thinks she is very pretty…" Oh, hell, I could have told you that.
andy
Thank you, RgvChick, for a great recap! I was not expecting one, and thought it would be a group effort with whatever we could share.
It is a bit of a shock to see Marina actually look at things, and people. And quite normal that she would walk right past Beto because she doesn't know what he looks like.
Those glasses of hers, though, with her thick eyebrows I kept thinking Groucho Marx. No. Just no.
Yola was cutting suspicious eyes at Lino after his initial shock and then grand welcome. Just tell them you switched to a full-time job with Luis and call it a day, Lino.
Mama Big Rigs wasn't nearly as tacky as I was expecting. ~sigh~
I can't see Baldo with Mrs. Toolbelt, either. Poor guy.
This one made me laugh out loud:
"Lucreepyeyebrows tells beto about some volunteer work she is doing".I can imagine her eyebrows Movin up n down talkin before her mouth opens.Lol
This one:"doc mask goes to buy a phone
With his tn pesos". Aawwwww just so he can torment marina and others.
Those Eye glasses remind me of those giant eyeglasses tweety bird used to wear. Whose idea was that anyways? She
Is gonna have a lot to pay for. That
Eye surgery alone is in the thousands.
And those large eyeglasses, the exam.
Good thing she got help with lil rafy.
Diapers,baby food, baby clothes,doctor
Appointments. And where is the baby daddy? Canoodling wit doctor bushybrow
Beto need to be shame of his self. He
Cant Raise another man's child, well somebody raised his hump nose butt. Name callin Don'T help, well it does a little.
Mago can't do anything to help mari.He
Was watchin beto and bushybrow trying
To look happy. At least beto was tryin
To look happy. He just pitiful hisself.
I want to see the episode when they look each other in the eyes for the first Time. They could have been together, but hes such a wuss. He was to quick to agree with Donny the lousy
Against her. She should go ahead and do the blood test and frame it give it
to him.
Yola is pretty, her hair is gorgeous.
So is vannys.
If Chucha and moma big rig get into it she'd probly slap her around alotworse than chucha does vanny. I'd like to see that. Chucha looks scared of moma big rig. Can't wait to see what donny
Will say when he meets her.
Now since pru knows that donnydoo was
Gonna have her followed, she needs to
Turn the tables. She'll Probly do it too.
More fun ahead y'all.
HAPPY FIRST DAY OF SUMMER!!
Really great recap. I'm kinda late to the party but I'm here. That Dr Mask,is very persistent. I,am,glad that Encarnacion likes Marina. I look forward to more recaps.
Getting caught up in this week's episodes.
It looks like Marina has gotten a new wardrobe and finally ditched the GoodWill look. (Although the GoodWill here has better looking stuff than where Marina lives) Probable reason is either she can actually see her clothing and what others are wearing, or she is making more money than she was beforehand?
I cannot recall a telenovela female protagonist having such a radical wardrobe improvement.
Thank you, Doris, Andy and Nina...and a BIG WELCOME to Saints505!! Glad you could join us...better late that never :-) and the more the merrier.
Andy, the clone with the "Mirada" wrote the recap LOL. Marina wouldn't have been able to recognize Beto unless he spoke. OTOH, she did seem to know that it was Doc Mask who approached her a few episodes ago; maybe she could have used her sixth sense, heart sense, or her smell (if he is using the same cologne) to recognize Beto, but the writer's must have something else in mind.
Doris, I will try to write as much of a recao as time and energy permit. I know that several here rely on the recap to understand what is actually going on; so I want to help as much as I can. I noticed the wardrobe change just yesterday when Marina started working at the hospital. According to Doc B, she will be getting paid more, but she shouldn't be getting paid until she works at least one week, right? So where did she get the money and when has she had time to go shopping even if she did have the money? Another thing I noticed yesterday, was her hair!! How she can manage to get a brush or comb into that thick thatch of hair is beyond me...next thing she needs -> a nice 'do!
Nina, ITA that Marina should get that blood test for the baby. She keeps saying that she "knooows" the baby is Beto's, but the first thing she asks Dr. Mask everytime she sees him is if he really raped her--the girl has doubts; so why not get the blood test?
Saints505, many of us are glad that Encarnacion changed her attitude toward Marina. I really admired her for suggesting to Rick that he try to get Marina and Beto back together; she is really thinking of everyone...not just her son. You don't see a mother like that too often in a TN...come to think of it, you don't see that too often in RL either!
Rgv Chick -- Marina's hair has always fascinated me. It would be a nightmare to comb through. (I wonder if it is a wig IRL) She definitely could do with a hair makeover. That will probably happen whenever the writers create the next major etapa in her story.
As I'm getting caught up in episodes, the hair on Marina's baby seems blonde in some scenes, and brown in others. Lighting? Different babies? Gah.
Poor Vanessa looked like she wanted to barf when Big Rig Ed proposed to her in front of everyone. That usually does not end well in Hallmark movies, either.
Rgv Chickie, thanks again, but don't worry too much about us, there is only so much one person and her clones can do :-)
"[Marina] shouldn't be getting paid until she works at least one week, right? So where did she get the money and when has she had time to go shopping even if she did have the money?" Oh, Chickie, watch TNs much??? :-) :-)
But I guess we just can't help thinking about these things, at least momentarily...
Doris, ITA that Marina is looking and dressing better all the time. (But I seem to be the only one who likes her big glasses. I think they're cute.) I think she was much better looking in Amar a muerte, but that was a totally different character that she played.
Funny you should mention Hallmark. I was speaking to my sister recently and she asked me about the TN I was watching. I made the mistake of starting to give her a complete rundown of the plot. That it started on a dark and stormy night with some poor woman, assisted by a midwife, giving birth to a healthy baby boy and then expiring; that the midwife is then called, because all the roads are washed out, to assist a rich woman, who gives birth to a stillborn baby girl, so they swap babies, and they grow up...
My sister stopped me, laughing. She told me I didn't have to continue, she knew the story quite well, and that she didn't want me to ever, ever again kid her about her Hallmark movies. Hmmm... how could she possibly know the story?
:-)
andy
Andy - LOL indeed about your sister and Hallmark movies. That is so funny! My hubby finally had to stop teasing me about my telenovelas when he was watching Lost, and other similar type shows, since then . Now he borrows my telenovela beanie hat for some of his shows. (GOT anyone?)
Ep 49: Part 1 Pushed Out and Shunned

Later, Aure goes to Mariana’s house and chides her for going around town desperate for another man. Mariana tells him he is acting like a child and walks off.
Rose goes to see Ati at the church; she just wants to ask how he likes the town. Later, as Rose talks to Tere, she fantasizes about Ati painting her portrait and starting to seduce her.
Tito tells Itza that she is going to take her advice and pursue a relationship with Lola.
Sami returns to the casino and meets with all the employees, including Flor and Mariana. She knows that she has been unfair and treated them badly. After she sincerely apologizes, she tells everyone that things are going to change; the casino will not continue with the sensual dances and shows…from now on, the shows will be artistic ones. Sami then turns to Flor and Mariana and acknowledges their talent; they will be the ones to make the casino a success with their shows.
Lola gets approached by George from Las Vegas. His people saw her video on the internet and came to ask her to go work in Las Vegas. When Lola thinks it’s like a talent show, George replies that it is something similar. Tito arrives ready to ask Lola out on a date, but when he sees her with George, she tells him that she will be going to Vegas. Tito tries to warn her to be careful because George may be trying to con her, Lola insists on going to Vegas and she thanks Tito for being such a good friend, Tito’s bubble is burst and he decides not to ask her out.
The townmob gathers around everything Nestor took out of Celeste’s station. When they start yelling out insults, Elpi comes out to try to calm them, but the mob turns against him and accuses him of being Celeste. As they shout at him, Mica comes out and tells Nestor to do something because the mob might kill him. Oscar then comes out and tells them mob to leave Elpi alone. The problem they have is with him; as Teo observes from behind the mob, Oscar confesses—HE IS CELESTE!! After he admits that those are his clothes, make-up, and wig, Oscar looks at Teo who looks crestfallen and walks away and goes to his office followed by Mica. Mica tries to talk to him, but Teo only wants to be alone.
Val is with Flor wanting to dance and seduce her. Flor keeps telling Val to stop, but he thinks that she really wants him to continue; so he continues until Flor succumbs to his kisses and caresses. After Flor and Val make love, Flor feels guilty since what they did is wrong. She wishes things were as easy as Val seems to think they will be. Just then, Mica calls Flor and tells her to come to the office right away.
Oscar knows that he made his announcement in the worst way possible; he wants to go talk to Teo, but Elpi advises him to give Teo time. Oscar then thinks that he is going to have to leave town…he will not be able to stand all the hate.
Flor goes to Teo’s office and tries to talk to Teo who can’t believe his father is Celeste. He and his father had such a good relationship…he can’t believe he had to find out about his father in such a way. Teo then reflects on how he used to look up to his father, but now he knows that his father is a coward. Val decides to call Flor while she is with Teo. As Teo observes, Flor takes the call but moves away from Teo as she tells Val that they will talk later.
Ep 49: Part 2 Pushed Out and Shunned
Teo goes to tell Itza that it’s all her fault….he believed in what she was saying and went to ask Lola for a date…instead, Lola made it clear that he was just a good friend.
Teo listens as For talks to Val on the phone and tells him that she needs time because she is very confused. Afterwards, Flor offers to stay and talk to Teo but he would rather see her later at home. On her way home, Oscar approaches Flor and wants to talk to her. Later as they talk, Flor tries to encourage Oscar, but he is very worried about Teo. Flor promises that she will make sure that they have an opportunity to talk.
Jovita leads her mob who is complaining about the sexual degenerate. She asks Nestor what they can legally do to Oscar. They can’t allow such behavior and perversion in their town. After Nestor tells them that he needs to look into it, Vicente suggests that they stop calling into Celeste’s show….that will be her punishment for now.
Aure talks to Sami about his troubles. She advises him not to make any rash decisions because “the night is always darker right before dawn breaks.” Aure agrees and thank her.
Teo tells Mica that he feels that there is something wrong with Flor…and he thinks she might have a lover.
Mariana meets Ati and rants about the town’s outrageous behavior. Afterwards, Ari reminds her that he wants to make supper for her; so she agrees that he can go over that night.
Chile whines to Val that Marga doesn’t want to come check out a funeral package. Val thinks that love is the beginning of all problems…he can’t feel anything in his body or his heart. When Chile laughs about it, Val tells him that he just needs a friend who will listen to him, not laugh at him. Val continues that he tried to make himself believe that he could share Flor with Teo, but he was wrong. It bothers him that Flor is with Teo…kissing him, touching him, and thinking of him.
Flor gets home and goes to her bedroom. She sees the messed up bed and starts to straighten it out, but when she grabs the pillow she can’t help but think of Val.
Aure walks with Mariana to go pick up Xochitl at school. As they walk, Aure asks Mariana to remember that she has a daughter who is at an impressionable age. When he adds that Mariana should be careful about seeing other men, Mariana denies seeing another man; she only has a friend whom she talks to and spends time with. When Xochitl comes out, Xochitl invites them for some refreshments and she will pay. Mariana wonders where she got money, so (after hesitating) Xochitl explains that she won something at school and since she didn’t really like it, she sold it to one of her friends.
Teo arrives home as Flor talks to Aure on the phone. She ends the call quickly when she sees Teo who has already seen that Oscar is there. Flor asks him not to be angry with her…he and Oscar need to talk things over. Teo doesn’t want to even look at his father, but Flor pleads with him and asks him to do it for her. After Flor leaves them alone, Oscar explains to Teo that he has suffered with his secret for many years. When Teo asks why he didn’t tell him sooner, Oscar thinks that he was just stupid and a coward. Teo still thinks he should have made an effort to tell him instead of having him find out the way he did. Teo is furious that Oscar lied to him and fooled him for so many years...and he lied to his mother too. Oscar reveals that he didn’t lie to his mother…she knew about him and she accepted him as he was.
Doris, I think you're probably right about the baby(ies). I notice the differences too
Andy, You gotta remember I own chickens and I'm starting to act lik the mama hens...looking out for the babies...not that you all are babies...but you get my drift :-) I suppose I should have a stock of a variety of beanies huh? It just can't help but wonder how these people who never seem to work always have money for everything!
Steve, don't know where you heard that. I surely haven't!
Happy Sunday!
Rgv Chickie, thanks for the good thoughts. I can't quite think of myself as a baby chick, but you have goats as well, right? I am definitely a kid (at heart) :-)
"...can't help but wonder how these people who never seem to work always have money for everything!" It must be wonderful to live in the world of TNs :-)
andy
Andy, "a kid (at heart)" aren't we all? Now where's my Sunday chocolate sundae? Anyone else for a sundae on Sunday? :-)
