Scenes
combined where it made sense to do so.
Lorena
argued with Gustavo about helping him and he tried explaining how
this has affected his life. He had gotten very emotional and lost
his cool. He calmed down enough to tell her that she wasn't part of
this and that he needed to resolve it. She still wanted to help.
Alan
said he was offended at Carlos' near-accusation. Carlos said that he
learned in his profession that there are no coincidences and had to
take precautions. Alan continued to say that he was listening to
Téllez' problems and that was all. Carlos finally stopped chewing
him out but said that the police would be upon them if they realize
that Téllez was looking for Alan the same day. That was the last
thing they needed. Alan said he was calm and that was all Carlos had
to do: Calm down. Carlos walked out. Alan broke a pencil in half
and threw the pieces across his office.
Ricardo
and Sofia walked around Los Cabos and looked at the pretty sights,
finally walking along the water's edge and ending in a hug. Later
they sat on the sand and talked about all the difficulties of the
recent months, the sadness, and the loss that they had managed to
forget for a few hours. Ricardo said it gave him hope that he could
eventually look at life as he used to. He thanked her for listening
to him. They made a promise to be there for each other. They talked
about how much they liked Los Cabos and wanting to come back and not
for work. That when bad thoughts came to them they would banish
them. They way they looked at each other indicated possible
extracurricular activity in the near future.
Roberto
had lunch with Lucia who went on about how strange and awkward the
situation was, that a mother wants to know her own son, and how she
should not have caved to Nicolas' threats. Roberto listened with a
deadpan expression until she got to that when he said that he could
not believe that his own father would have threatened her. This
caught her slightly off guard and she said that she never meant to
speak ill of him because she didn't want to upset him. She would
tell him as much as he wanted to know. Roberto emphasized that his
father had taken care of him, sent him to the best schools, and was
always there for him. He had also never spoken ill of her, for which
he admired him more. He had yet to address Lucia as “Mama.”
Lucia was prepared to hear any complaints and questions. She wanted
to recover her son. He said they have to take a calm approach.
However, his facial expression didn't change. [Personally I think
she 's getting hard up for money and is looking to have a new meal
ticket.]
Lorena
told Manuel she was worried about Gustavo, especially after this
conversation. She had wanted to help him. Manuel echoed the
warnings about the narcos and referenced her similar comments about
Ricardo and his loss. She told him she was worried about everybody,
but then gave up on being able to vent to him about it.
Alan
read the news stories on the internet about the investigation into
Téllez' death. Thus far the police did not issue their opinion on
the matter. He breathed a sigh, but one that is possibly very
premature. [If Alonso concluded that this had been murder rather
than an accident, the police must also think so and were looking not
to tip off the responsible party.]
Lourdes
and Paula had coffee together. Paula seemed to be getting better and
Lourdes commented that Jaime was most of the reason. She thanked
Lourdes for being there for her.
Carlos
was getting ready to leave the office a little early when Nancy came
in. She tried to get him to see her after his event, but he said
that wasn't possible because he didn't know when it would end. He
was accompanying Michelle and he's see her tomorrow at the office.
Nancy fell silent at that one.
Roberto
went back to the office feeling no better than when he agreed to meet
Lucia. He noticed that Juan was feeling no better and suggested they
go out later for drinks.
Carlos
met Michelle at the art gallery. They seem to have the same taste in
art and there was one more step in his chosen direction. [He has
never smiled like this around Nancy.]
Ricardo
and Sofia returned to the hotel more or less in a good mood.
However, no vo-dee-oh-doh-doh.
Roberto, Juan, and Manuel went
out to a different watering hole and started talking about how they
could not understand women. Manuel talked about failing with Lorena;
he seemed to have had too much to drink.
El Chivo was walking down a
street when one of El Gringo's more trusted people shouted to him
from his car. El Chivo – who never seems to be without earbuds in
– turned and aimed. When he recognized the man, the guy told him
El Gringo wanted to see him, but El Chivo was not one to be ordered
around. The guy aimed his pistol at him, saying he's not going back
without him and El Gringo doesn't like waiting. El Chivo got into
the car.
Juan told Manuel he can't force
the issue. Roberto finally told Manuel to be up front with Lorena,
but it was evident that Manuel didn't have a lot of experience.
Roberto finally said that none of them will leave that place alone
tonight. Juan objected, saying that since he loves Fernanda and can
only think of her this doesn't work for him. He did, however, get a
kick out of watching Manuel approach a woman who had been eyeing
them.
More flirtation in the art
gallery. Michelle decided to buy the work they were looking at
because it reminded her of him. When he started coming on to her she
began reacting more positively than ever. It's a minuet, not a
salsa.
Juan had had at least one too
many by this time and decided that he was going to pursue Fernanda
again. He said they should look for a mariachi band so he could
serenade her. Roberto – the last sober man left – tried to talk
him out of it, but failed. He decided to accompany him on this
mission. They found a large mariachi band – they even had a
harpist – and headed for Fernanda's house. Fernanda stood behind
the curtain and cried. Her mother encouraged her to make up with
Juan but she refused. She asked her mother to tell Juan she didn't
want to see him. He mother complied and Juan left disappointed.
Carlos and Michelle continued
looking at the artwork [I totally don't get the appeal of these
particular paintings] leading to a kiss that usually leads to
something more.
El Gringo held his pistol in El
Chivo's mouth and demanded an explanation. He said he knew nothing,
that La Bestia went to see El Ciego whose offer he refused. He had
come alone. El Gringo put away his pistol as El Chivo said that he
would never go alone into enemy territory like that. The other man
paused for a moment, then slammed his fist into El Chivo's solar
plexus. El Gringo wasn't satisfied, then pointed his pistol again
and demanded more information. After coughing El Chivo told him that
El Ciego doesn't share much information and is looking for revenge.
El Gringo said this is not going to happen.
El Cuervo was dozing off when El
Ciego kicked him awake to send him out looking for El Chivo.
The next morning at breakfast
Susanna noticed that Juan looked tired. She knew he had been out
late. He explained he went out with two male colleagues and said
they had a good time. She said he should do that while he's young.
He told her she was young, too, and should look to do more. She said
she was so happy when she married his father and even more so when he
was born. She got up to make some more food. He took out his cell
and started to call Fernanda, but ended the call before her phone
could ring.
Victoria was already at her desk.
Adrián came in just as she was about to send off the document. He
read it over her shoulder, made some positive comments, and continued
to encourage her. She talked about how he inspired her and he talked
about how he loves that she wants to help people.
Nancy was at her desk trying to
dig up information about Michelle. She called her pet boy in blue to
tell him she needed to see him. She wanted to pass on information
but in person.
Breakfast at Robeto's was a more
than a little strained. Roberto kept asking whether his father had
told him everything. Nicolas said he had. However, when he told
Roberto to be careful in dealing with his mother, Roberto asked him
why. What truth was he talking about?
