Por Amar Sin Ley, Season 2 Jueves 6/27/19 Episode 72: Insults and Injury

Scenes combined where it made sense to do so.

Mexico City: Tatiana came on strong, telling Juan that if she had been in Fernanda's place she would appreciate him in every possible way. After some detail, she moved in for the kill with a kiss.

The next morning Nancy said they needed a new line of investigation. All they had at the moment were the phone calls between Alan and Téllez and it wasn't much. Michelle arrived and entered the office, greeting Carlos in a manner a little too familiar for a basic client. She gave a perfunctory greeting to Nancy who was immediately shooed out by Carlos. Nancy looked askance at Michelle as she slowly exited and Carlos told her to close the door. Turns out Michelle was there to mark her territory; she left Carlos alone to his work when he said he and Nancy had been discussing a difficult case. He started to show her out when Quiróz approached him with his entire team and a court order to search his offices. Carlos said his new favorite phrase – abuse of authority – and said he would not permit this.

Roberto and Ricardo had their morning coffee together when Lucia arrived carrying a large brown envelope. He introduced her to Ricardo and she commented on how her son's friends were as good-looking and successful as he was. Ricardo left and Lucia sat down and took out what was in the envelope: Roberto's handprints on paper, done when he was four years old. He had inscribed “Mama, I love you” below them. She told him that this gave her the strength to see every day through. Roberto looked a little ill at ease.

Which was kid stuff compared to Carlos' situation. He told Quiróz that since he was investigating Alan, his only concern should be Alan's office.

Lucia went on about how that was the only memento she had of him because of his father. Roberto would not hear anything negative about him. Lucia backed off, put the frame back in the envelope, and said she had just wanted to share this with him. He agreed to see her the next day because he was very busy. She then took her leave, apologizing for interrupting his workday. He looked guarded and suspicious when she hugged him goodbye.

Carlos remained adamant that Quiróz only go through Alan's office, claiming concern about the confidentiality of his clients and threatening legal action. He then led them to Alan's office where they were taking everything, including Alan's computer. Carlos protested but Quiróz told him that he would get everything back once the investigation was over.

Boston: A man named Diego Molina greeted a girl named Laurita on the street on his way somewhere. He met up with a young fellow named Jordan and went to open a his cafe for the day's business. He waited on a customer who wanted something to help him sleep. Molina got on the phone to talk about shipments of green and black teas.

Mexico City: Carlos continued to protest that this was a personal attack by Sonia [Did we ever hear her last name?] and that there will be hell to pay when Alan is proven innocent. He told Nancy they had to to make sure the didn't take more than Alan's stuff. The two of them then went to Carlos' office.

Sofia told her mother about Nicolás and how Ricardo asks about her all the time. Camila said she was glad that she had someone like him in her life.

Carlos began emptying his safe as and covering the money in the gym bag with papers from his desk. Nancy said that Sonia was provoking him and he was reacting as she hoped. He needed to focus on the case. She would draw up the papers while he looked at the evidence. She reminded him to keep a cool head about him.

Juan sent a text to Tatiana while he was in the break room with Manuel, who got curious about this. He asked how Juan met her and he told him that it was during the investigation about Carlos. Status quo on Manuel's situation with Lorena. Manuel was intrigued but Roberto told him this was not like working a case.

Victoria went into Adrián's office to accept his dinner invitation because she passed the Massachusetts bar exam. She was thrilled at being able to help more people and he was thrilled that they had even more things in common.

Sofia was a bit calmer and in a better mood when Ricardo entered her office. She thanked him, saying that this wouldn't have happened without him. He was grateful for how she had arranged for his children to come down from Canada. This ended with them agreeing to always go to each other for help.

Carlos went to Alan's cell and let him have it with both barrels. Thanks to him the police were invading his office and this was hurting the firm. Alan said to get him out of there; it was also his firm. Carlos told him he would get him out but when it was all over he didn't want Alan in his firm or in his life every again.

Boston: Diego sold some herbal tea to a customer, then his daughter (Emma) came in with his wife (Kate). They were there just long enough to agree to go to dinner that night. His employee, Jordan, made some comment about the daughter and although he didn't say anything he didn't seem to like this.

Mexico City: Alan tried to convince Carlos not to make a decision like that so hastily. However, Carlos was fed up with Alan's mistakes, stating that if this doesn't happen, he would have to keep on correcting his mistakes and covering up for him. It had been going on all their lives. Alan kept saying he always helped, but Carlos wasn't buying it. He finally said “Talk all you want, but remember you are involved with El Ciego's money. Think about it.” As he started to walk away Alan pleaded again for him to get him out and prove him innocent, then he could make this decision. He continually blamed Sonia for all this. Howver, Carlos would not change his mind.

Lorena was nervous about going to court after having met Sara's husband. She was sure that his lawyer would be worse. She was also concerned that he would make the case that Sara could not care for her son. Gustavo made the point that by failing to provide support for the boy he was putting the child at risk. She realized he was right. [She should certainly also know that Mexican family courts strongly favor mothers in custody cases.]

Nancy had been trying to get information out of Herrera, but he told her this was not possible. It was difficult to get information out of Sonia and he didn't want to put his job at risk. She continued to seduce him with promises of cash and other payment and he said he would see what he could do.

Lorena practiced her opening argument and Gustavo filled in a blank. He was pleased with her rehearsal. She was still a little nervous and he told her that was normal. He still got nervous sometimes. She didn't believe that but he assured her that was true. He was confident in her. “You learn the law through practicing it,” he told her. “And with every case, you learn something new.” [He might make a good law professor some day.]

That night Sonia paid Alan a visit in the lockup. He wasn't willing to talk to her without his lawyer present, saying he had nothing to tell her because she had no evidence against him. She said they found many interesting things in his office. She was particularly interested in what Carlos had been hiding. She offered not to bring charges if Alan would rat him out.

Juan and Tatiana came out of a movie theatre and she gushed about how she loved going to the movies but never could go often in the past because of her work. She gushed about how he had done so much for her. He looked mostly like he had mixed feelings. He definitely seemed interested in her physical charms this time. [But if he wants to be Roberto 2.0 he will need to ditch the Greasy Kid Stuff and adopt The Dry Look.]

Sonia offered Alan something he might not refuse: Dropping charges against him in exchange for information about Carlos' defenses in minor cases and the nature of his clients. He decided that rather than fold he would play another card, saying that the next time they spoke his lawyer would be present.

Boston: Diego and Jordan were closing for the night when police from ICE came in to arrest Diego as an illegal alien. He demanded to be able to call his wife, saying he had lived in the US for 25 years. He was dragged out as though he had robbed a bank.

His wife and daughter were at home and he was late. His wife said his cell phone probably died, as usual. Hers rang and it was Jordan calling from Diego's phone, which had not been in its owner's pocket. He told them that he had been arrested by ICE.

Mexico City: Adrián and Victoria dined and he asked her what made her decide to become a lawyer. She explained that her father had suffered a terrible injustice. His brother had stolen his inheritance and it took everything to fight it. She learned from that that it was important to fight for what was right in the world and to help people in trouble.

Boston: Diego was brought into the immigration office and told he was going to be deported immediately because of a change in the law. He had been arrested in a raid 25 years before and he had signed an agreement that he would be allowed to stay in the US for 15 years and had overstayed his welcome. He wasn't even going to be allowed to call his family. He was dragged out after having been insulted by the official. [It looks like we've met Victoria's next client.]

Nancy looked very demure yesterday in her blue blouse....... Alan, save your skin...tell Sonia all about cousin, Chuck.

Thanks, Urban.

They have really picked up the pace.

Sonia, really? You would drop Alan's first degree murder in exchange for nabbing Carlos for money laundering, or were you just toying with Alan?

I'm off the fence about Lucia. She is no damn good. There was just something off about her gushing over Ricardo. And she should keep her trap shut about Nicolas. Love that Roberto wasn't having that.

What a great surprise seeing Alberto Estrella. His villain in Malquerida is one of my favorites. I got a kick seeing him as Mister Rogers with his tea shop last night. I get the feeling he's been set up. After all these years, why would he be singled out? But who pays $20 for a packet of tea? Anyway, it's a good new storyline.

At first I thought Alberto Estrella was selling drugs from his "coffee" shop. My Spanish being a little slow here. I was thrilled to see him though, and he looked so healthy and fit after his cancer scare.

I didn't watch La Malquerida (not a fan of incest stories), but will always remember his outstanding role in Pasión. He helped make that novela memorable, enjoyable, and marvelous. I'm a sucker for pirates. How I miss the Carla Estrada days!!!!

As I've mentioned before, I love how casting is intermingling seasoned actors with newer ones. Also, I think the writers are doing a great job writing characters on and off the show, also, bringing them back for cameo appearances; please no reincarnation for Alejandra though.

I definitely think Lucia is up to no good. She's just too mushy around Roberto. Like she's trying to butter him up before sticking the knife in. Where the hell has she been anyway? How long ago did she disappear? What was Roberto told about the reason for his parents splitting up? A kid can be stupid only so long.

All in all, I'm enjoying this one and enjoyed Amar a Muerte; too bad they wrote AB off right when things between her and MB were getting interesting!

I still don't see anything worthy of watching on the horizon. Where is Stevey for our annual update? We're spoiled right?

I've been saying from Lucia's first appearance that she is most likely trying to set him up to be her meal ticket. We have never been told that she ever had a job or a career. But our Roberto is on his guard, so he should come out of this alright.

20 ounces = 1 1/4 pound and that does sound excessive, but it also sounds like something that's not especially easy to find.

UA: I enjoyed your detailed in-depth recap.

WTH is wrong with Tatiana ?

Victoria: I NEVER liked or trusted Lucia anyway.

Steve

So far it looks like you won't have to do your normal "knock off" list. Is that the proper name you call the list of everyone who gets killed off during the program???

We are so use to blood and gore, rape scenes, misunderstandings, etc. it's nice not to see that stuff for change.

I'm not traveling this weekend after all, so last night's recap should be up shortly.

I'm going to enjoy seeing Vicky wipe the floor up with those very Nasty evil cruel disrespectful ice agents. Especially That one behind the desk. He enjoyed twisting knife. I can not
Stand People like that. Now I'll stop talkin about that before I say some bad things that Could get me kicked off the patio.

That guy that lost the custody case didn't looke to happy, maybe he'll appeal the Verdict.

What is roboby's moma's story? What is she after. I want to know what went down with her and Nick. Nick won't say
Nothin bad about her, and she keeps on
Tryin to say bad stuff about him to robby,And he ain't Havin it. So until
The beans are spilt about them I'll just look forward to Vicky wiping up the floor with them Dogs. And Ricky &
Sofia's story. And jaun whose about to get in Some bad juju with tacky tati.

Next up, will cousin Alan turn the tables on cousin Carlos? Will the beans get spilt on robby's moma's evil plan?
Will Vicky do the dance of the sheets
With Adrian? Thats probly a long ways off.

Thanks Urban. A good cliffhanger with
Alan & Sonia leavin us hangin.
