Por Amar Sin Ley, Season 2 Viernes 6/28/19 Episode 73: Tea and Sympathy

Boston:

Diego Molina gets hauled off to ICE detention and left there for about 10 minutes before they come to haul him out again. He grips the corners of his enclosure like a cat in the vet's office, but the agents manage to dislodge him and drag him away while the other detainees swat at them ineffectually with their space blankets.

Out on the Town:

Juan takes Tatiana to a romantic movie -- I'm betting she chose that one herself -- and then climbs all over him in the car as usual. (Has she even noticed he never makes the first move?) Juan continues to look at her like a tacky prize he won in the ring-toss: he isn't sure it's actually worth anything, but he's pretty damn proud of himself all the same.

Bufete Ibarra:

Carlos tells Nancy to get all the news that's fit to snatch about what the police have on Alan. Both plan to lie about Alan's whereabouts on the fateful night: Carlos will say he was with him, and Nancy will say she saw them together. Nancy's Biscuit comes up with one damning piece of information: they know about the strange bumps on Alan's car. Ruh-roh.

Casa Sofia:

Nic visits Camila and makes reassuring noises. He advises her to tell her daughter everything all the time and not try to "spare" her, and reassures her that she can't be a burden to someone who loves her. He also tells her she needs to keep learning new things, so they decide to start spending the mornings together while the kids are at work. I'm pretty sure she already knows how to do what he has in mind, but maybe when he said "dancing" he was actually taking about...dancing. We'll see.

En el Juzgado:

In the custody case, Lorena makes a sweet opening statement in her pretty dress, ably assisted by Gustavo, who tugs on our heartstrings with, "I once had the privilege of being a father..." They execute their performance so beautifully that not only do they win, but Deadbeat Dad almost forgets to threaten them in the hallway afterward. The director has to remind him during the commercial.

Alternate Mexico City:

Diego travels from the airport to his nice cousin's house and eventually fetches up at Vega while his family emotes back at home. (Mrs. Diego needs to retake the telenovela acting class where they teach gringas that it's okay -- even expected -- to raise your hands above your shoulders.) Ric of course calls in Vicky as his second, since her crystal ball showed her a Latino in trouble in Massachusetts just in time for her to dash out and get licensed on Wednesday.

Diego tells them that he blindly signed an agreement after being picked up in a raid 25 years ago: he had no idea it said he could only stay for 15 years. Oh, and also, he and Mrs. Diego never got around to getting legally married. Do you get the message yet, people? PUT A RING ON IT, or you'll end up under the icy stare of David Zepeda and have to listen to the justicia speech until you desperately volunteer to get deported to yet a third country.

In Other News:

* Looks like Nancy has downgraded her Stitchfix profile from "Slutwear" to merely "Inappropriate For the Office." Maybe she and the Vega ladies can get a bulk discount.

* Sonia's last name is Reyes.

* Seriously, writers? Did one of you poke your finger into an American History textbook and say, "Hey, Boston is just one big Tea Party"?

Thanks, Blue! It's always fun to read a great recap as I desperately try to catch up on the weekends. Those of us who are cat lovers (if I remember correctly, it's most of us) will all get a kick out of the cat clinging in the vet's office. So accurate and funny.

Hah! Tacky prize from a ring toss! That's such an appropriate description of Ms. Tatiana. I get a kick out of how proud Juan is of all his new playthings and possessions.

Nancy ordering clothes from Stitchfix! Does she get her lipstick from Avon? I've never noticed Slutty Red in their catalogue.

Thanks again,
R la O

Thanks for the laughs, Blue Lass. Rosemary la Otra has already cited my fave: Juan continues to look at her like a tacky prize he won in the ring-toss: he isn't sure it's actually worth anything, but he's pretty damn proud of himself all the same. And, duh! Silly me hadn't picked up on the Boston and tea angle. Glad you pointed it out.

Are we supposed to forget that Tatiana has a child with special needs? She never seems rushed to go home to take care of him. And Juan never asks.

Carlos and Nancy being willing to lie as alibis for Alan must mean they think he did kill Tellez, no?

Yep, put a ring on it. First the lesbian couple, now the boutique tea shop owner.

Blue Lass: Ricardo scolding Diego was spot on. Idiot should've gotten married a long time ago!

What lesbian couple ?

Gracias, Blue Lass. I am appalled at how Juan is dealing with losing Fernanda, but it isn't particularly unusual. Here's hoping she doesn't pull a pregnancy entrapment.

I think Carlos and Nancy believe in the possibility. However, there also has to be something in whatever the police have seized that will incriminate Carlos for money laundering.

Carlos is having a hard time figuring out a motive for Alan to have killed Tellez. He is going to really freak when the truth comes out because that was the tap on the dominoes falling in his life.

Blue Lass, you have no idea how wonderful it is to see your recaps and those of your colleagues. "tacky prize from a ring toss" brilliant. I continue to deal with the after affects of breast cancer surgery so am not always on the ball with comments. But always check in in time. That being the case, I've never gotten over Richardo and the blond cohort actually prevailing in that bizarre DNA sperm case, That was a stretch; I get that Vega attorneys can't ever lose but really> Would a US Judge have come to the same conclusion given the fact that a child is still on the way? And his wife is satisfied with the outcome? Is it common in Mexico to run around with fresh sperm until it can find its way to a petrie dish? found the whole story line absurd. I can't really follow the ins and outs of the Alejandra investigation but can't help wondering when Nancy is going to pull the plug and will her acc0mplice get busted for doctoring the tape? And is he being so cooperative just on a Tease by Nancy or is she putting out off camera? Ricardo has the original video but hasen't looked at it? I lovrthe beautiful lawyer who now appears to to be easily passing every single US bar exam but really, even Massachusetts on first try? the envy of countless Harvard Law grads, I'm sure. An blown away by the performances of
Alejjandras parents and gustavo and await imminent anvil to fall on all crooks, thugs
and murderers.

Good questions all, Dona Felipa. I believe they usually base the cases on actual events, so I'm guessing that whole involuntary-sperm-donor thing must have happened somewhere...but it probably wasn't tied up quite so neatly.

Great seeing you, Dona Felipa. I hope you are well.

Things are getting a little strange as this season winds down. I'm sure that last paternity case has actually happened. People do strange things in the pursuit of money and that woman was a rotten excuse for a human being.

The doctored video still has to bite someone in the tuchas and I hope it's Nancy. And when is anyone going to make the connexion between Carlos and El Ciego?

O/T
It's so funny that on Friday I commented that I hated stories or sidelines about incest; and here I am caught watching 'Contra Viento y Marea' which has the grossiest incest storyline, but I'm too far along to quit. Plus, Sebastian Rulli is so very easy on the eyes, particularly with longer hair. Who couldn't help but fall in love him in 'Teresa'.?

'Pasión' = Fernando Colunga
-'Corazón Salvaje' = Eduardo Yáñez
- 'Teresa' & 'LQLVMR' = Sebastián Rulli (tie)
