RGV Chick: Cringed watching Silvia being viciously abused by Felipe.

SILVIA #15/#16

Heads up: Silvia will be having it’s Gran Final on Monday from 8-10 Central Time.

This turned out to be very violent splice and dice with Silvia being emotionally, physically and sexually abused as well as threatened with a gun at the hands of her husband Felipe. He is jealous of her, cheats on her but doesn’t want to lose her. He clearly has problems plus he likes to drink. It takes Silvia a while to get out of the marriage. Her psychologist suggests she is suffering from the Stockholm syndrome and being complicit in her own mistreatment. She finally manages to get a divorce after Felipe’s behavior has escalated to the point that the family’s lawyer talks him into it to save his own career. (They were married for nine years.)

While in Acapulco, Silvia and Livia attend a party. Livia meets Fernando Frade and leaves with him for a night out on the town. She likes him.

Silvia prepares a cabaret act to celebrate her 25 years in show business. She goes to Italy for a while to work with a choreographer in preparation. She returns to Mexico and presents her 25th anniversary act. She gives a speech afterwards talking about how 25 years went by like the blink of an eye, how her children have been her inspiration and thanks everyone. Now with Felipe out of the picture, she makes up with her best friend Sonia.

Silvia decides to do a nude photo shoot for a Spanish magazine. They assure her it will be an artistic shoot. Silvia tells the viewer that she was ready to be free “after being oppressed and threatened by a man for so long.” Emilio is not pleased when he finds out. She insists that the photos are “artistic”. He says that that might fly in Spain but not here in Mexico. She doesn’t realize what she could do to her career and reputation. The photos will be used against her. What is more is that she is the image of Televisa. Doesn’t that matter To her? Everyone associated with Televisa has a moral and social obligation to the public so she can’t do whatever she feels like.

Silvia tells Sonia all about it and admits that Emilio was right. She and Sonia go to Acapulco to party. At a bar, Fernando Frade asks Silvia to dance. Livia sees them dancing together and wonders when they met each other. She is upset and leaves the club.

REINA-SOY
Ep 25: Part 1 An Alliance of Forces

Yameli tells Erick that she will no longer be working with him; she has to continue working with Charly because she has a contract with him that she can’t break….and Charly can’t find out that she was part of Erick’s production. Erick is upset; he thought the three of them were a team…a family, but he now sees that he was wrong. Erick walks off and talks to Serg who reminds Erick that his talent will bring him success. Erick wishes it would be as easy to do it as it is to say it. When Serg wonders what Charly might say when he finds out that Erick is Pez Koi, Erick hopes that Charly will support him…but he also knows that Charly has a huge ego.

Ruco is with his buddies admiring Vanessa’s photo and bragging that he knows her. He then calls Vanesa and pleads with her to escape from her house and go be with him.

As Juanjo and Yameli sit on some steps, Juanjo tells Yameli that he was surprised by what she told Erick, but he assumes that she has to stay close to Charly to keep an eye one everything he does and wait until he makes a mistake. After Yameli reiterates that she has to make Charly pay for everything he did to her, Yameli changes the subject and tells Juanjo that she went to visit her parent’s graves. She thanks him for taking care of the, then asks him to promise her that, regardless of what may happen, they will never be apart again. Juanjo smiles as he promises. Afterwards, they talk to Erick again. Yameli assures Erick that he will do very well because she is leaving him with the best—Juanjo. After she reminds him that he will eventually have to show his face and everyone will know who he is, Yameli urges him to talk to Monchis. Erick will think about it and leaves. Once alone, Juanjo tells Yameli that he knows that she went through some very hard times; and it isn’t fair that Charly lived his life as if nothing happened. For that reason, Juanjo will help Yameli; he just asks that no one but Charly be hurt. Yameli promises that she only wants to hurt Charly; others may be affected in the process, but it will not be her intention to hurt anyone else. Yameli thanks him for being on her side despite everything; and Juanjo is very happy about it too…since Charly stole her…errr, his best friend. To avoid any problems with Charly, Juanjo suggests that Yameli tell Charly that he was the one who had the idea of working with Erick.

Diana is about to go to her bedroom when Charly arrives and asks for Vanessa so that he can ask her about the photos. When she warns him not to upset Vanessa, Charly assures her that he just wants to talk to her. As Vanesa listens from behind a wall, Charly continues that it was a very bad idea and very bad timing to have Vanessa’s nude photos all over the city when he is about to have a concert. Diana snaps that she forgot how selfish he was. As they argue, Vanesa approaches and Charly asks her for the info on the modeling agency, so Vanesa tells him the name of the agency (Cameo) and will text him the contact info.

Charly races over to Cameo and takes Axel with him. Diana follows them, but can’t keep up so she calls Yameli and asks her to talk to Charly since he is about to do something scandalous; and Yameli is the only one Charly listens to. After Yameli agrees to call Charly, she hangs up with Diana and calls Zaria to ask her to meet with her…Yameli has something very important to tell her. Yameli then calls Diana and tells her she couldn’t reach Charly.

REINA-SOY
Ep 25: Part 2 An Alliance of Forces

Yameli meets with Zaria who is very curious as to why Yameli wants to meet with her. Yameli assures her that Charly didn’t send her, nor does he know that she is meeting with her…or that she can give Zaria info that can destroy him. Zaria is skeptical and starts to leave, but Yameli convinces her to take the opportunity to get back at Charly since Yameli has everything needed to destroy Charly Flow. When Zaria questions why Yameli is doing this since she works for Charlie, Yameli confides that she has her own history with Charly…and he ruined her just like he ruined Zaria. After Yameli and Zaria discuss how the information will be leaked out to the public, they shake on their agreement.

Diana invites Ruco to her house. After she mentions that her parents sometimes forget about her, Ruco offers her something that will help her forget things too. They go off to the sit by the pool.

Charly arrives at Cameo, but Alberto is in a meeting. After waiting a while, Charly insists that the receptionist go see how much longer Alberto will be in his meeting; so Alberto agrees to quickly go meet with Charly who calls him a sick man who likes to show off revealing photos of young girls. After Alberto assures him that everything was done with much respect because he believes in Vanessa’s talent, Charly insults him again; so Alberto orders him to leave. Charly starts to leave, but knickerpunches Alberto…that should show Alberto that he should respect him.

Ben and Yameli argue about using Erick to get to Monchis. After Yameil insists that she has tried, but Erick has a very bad relationship with Monchis, she wonders what the DEA is dong since she has been the one to get them to Monchis, but Monchis always gets away from them. Ben tells her it’s time he showed her something.

Charly and Diana get home at the same time. Diana warns him that he’d better not tell Vanesa what happened at Cameo. After they argue about how nothing changes Charly, Charly reminds Diana that there should be no more lies so he is going to tell Vanessa why he doesn’t want her in the world of modeling. Meanwhile, Vicenta quickly runs and warns Vanesa that her parents are arriving; so Vanesa tells Ruco to hurry and leave. Diana and Charly enter the house to find Vanessa (pretending to be) asleep on the couch; so they tell her to go sleep in her bedroom. After she leaves, Charly tells Diana that they need to wait until Vanessa is ready to tell them what is going on with her. Vanesa listens from behind the wall and smiles with satisfaction.

Ben takes Yameli to his headquarters and shows her a map of part of Mexico City where they have undercover agents all over that area to try to find Monchis. They have seen his little rats there, and wherever they are, the big rat must be.

Monchis leaves a threatening message for Lidia. She’d better tell him where they are or he will show them how to show him some respect…and this time it won’t go well for them. After Lidia listens to the message, Erick arrives and tells her that they have made the video for his song, but he won’t be in it because he doesn’t anyone to know who he is…and moreover who his father is.

Charly, Diana and Vanesa have breakfast and chat about what Vanesa should do during the day. Diana tells Vanessa that she needs to go back to school. After Vanesa asks how things went at Cameo, Charly tells her that things went well; he was able to talk to Cantu calmly (his nose grows a bit) and he was very cordial (longer nose) when he told him to stop giving her ideas about being a model. Vanessa argues that this is her dream, but Charly is firm and tells her that she is living there and will do as he says. When he asks Diana to confirm that a modeling career is &*$%, Diana remains quiet and Vanesa storms off.

REINA-SOY
Ep 25: Part 3 An Alliance of Forces

Juanjo is home having breakfast with Wendy and his siblings who ask about the woman he is working with. After Juanjo comments that Lari is a professional and very good at what she does, the sister tells him that she hadn’t seen him so happy in a long time. Wendy wishes he’d be that happy about the wedding; so Juanjo assures her that he is happy, but she is the wedding planner and he doesn’t want to interfere. He then quickly makes an exit.

Charly asks Vanessa if she has talked to Erick and if he has mentioned anything about moving back with their mother. After Vanessa tells him that she hasn’t heard from him since she was in the hospital, Charly asks her to give Erick a message for him…he wants Lidia to call him. He then tells her that they will get out of this together. After Charly leaves, Diana also assures Vanessa that they will make it through this; Vanesa gives her a fake smile and agrees.

Axel and Chary take off from the house. Charly wants to party; so Axel will gladly plan it for him. As they exit the driveway, Yameli watches them.

Erick calls Vanessa who tells him that she is better, then asks for Lidia since Charly is looking for her. Erick confides that things blew up and they left their house; Monchis had his mother terrorized. Erick asks Vanessa not to tell Charly anything; he will tell his mother to call Charly; his mother should be the one to tell Charly what is going on. As they speak, Vanesa gets a text from Ruco asking if they can meet.

Diana is sitting outside when she sees Vanesa getting ready to leave the house. After Vanesa explains that she is going for a jog, Diana gives her a time limit and reminds Vanessa to take her phone.

Yameli leaves a voice message for Charly telling him that she couldn’t sleep all night because she was thinking about him. She knows that they can only be friends, but she wants to be honest. As she finishes the call, Yameli sees Vanessa leaving. After she goes inside to talk to Diana, Yamei assures Diana that she can confide in her; she will be her friend and confidante. Diana then tells Yameli about Charly going to Cameo and punching Cantu. Alberto is very angry since he had been helping them so much; he even offered her a modeling job. Yameli is intrigued and asks what Diana is going to do, but Diana tells her she is not going to do it since Charly will probably have a bigger fit. Yameli can’t believe Diana isn’t going to take advantage of the opportunity; what Diana hasn’t been able to see is that life is lived only once. After Yameli leaves, she calls Zaria and tells her she has some info for her.

The "2019 Recapper Gallery" has also been updated to include Diana and JudyB!

REINA

Rgv Chick, this was a smooth ebb and flow, yet mirrored the turbulent waters perfectly. There is nothing, not even a nuance you don’t manage to capture.

I’ll quote many of my favorite lines including “he was able to talk to Cantu calmly (his nose grows a bit) and he was very cordial (longer nose) when he told him to stop giving her ideas about being a model.” Simply great. I have to make a comment here too. He’s been a parent for many years. Doesn’t he know by now that forbidding children to do something only serves to make them want it more? I don’t have kids and even I know that. Sigh.

“Yameli urges him to talk to Monchis” made me shiver. Now, if anyone knows that Monchis is pure evil it’s Yameli. She did see the bruises earlier, right?

“Charly starts to leave, but knickerpunches Alberto…that should show Alberto that he should respect him”. Now, Alberto deserves a beat down, but this was basically an air punch (barely landing) resulting in a bit of a sting, but without a drop of blood drawn. Jeez, don’t send a boy to do man’s work.

“Erick arrives and tells her that they have made the video for his song, but he won’t be in it because he doesn’t anyone to know who he is”. I’m doubtful that being totally absent from your first video is even plausible, but what do I know? Juanjo must know best :)

I don’t know what Yameli has planned with Zaria. She’s taking a huge risk, revealing her secret. And Diana is selfish and self centered but I’m very uncomfortable with the way Yameli is manipulating her. I wish everything could be aimed at Charly himself, leaving Diana, Vanesa and especially Erick out of it.

How long will it take Monchis to find out where Lidia and Erick are??

“the sister tells him that she hadn’t seen him so happy in a long time. Wendy wishes he’d be that happy about the wedding”. All Wendy needed to do was to look at Juanjo’s happy, joyous far away expression to realize he has already left. Wendy, these “clues” are not whispers, they are roaring thunder.

Congratulations on another outstanding recap Rgv Chick. Thank you for including me in the recapper gallery, I'm very honored to be in such esteemed company.

Diana

SILVIA

Thanks, Jarifa. Excellent job.

I can't believe Silvia would do those photos without first asking for advice. But when has she ever asked for advice before jumping into anything? They did seem artistic, though the music played during the shoot was heavy on the sax IIRC.

The 1970s. Remember them well. Ugh the clothes!

Yay Silvia and her BFF make up.

SILVIA

Niecie, the “heavy on the sax” music during the photo shoot really said it all. That was funny.

SILVIA

Since this is a Televisa production, it was fascinating hearing the Televisa “social and moral responsibility” policy being communicated to the momentarily wayward Silvia.

I had to admit that I was happy with the combo episode since it clearly shortened what we had to watch of Silvia’s abuse at the hands of Felipe.

"REINA":

RGV Chick: I enjoyed your detailed in-depth recap.

"SILVIA":

Jarifa: Sylvia wanted to pose naked ?

REINA

I have to laugh, Chickie, because Diana and I always choose the same quotes:

Loved this:
After Vanesa asks how things went at Cameo, Charly tells her that things went well; he was able to talk to Cantu calmly (his nose grows a bit) and he was very cordial (longer nose)

So I pressed "copy" and then scrolling down I see that Diana picked it also. Never fails! Guess we were "separated at birth" as they say, although sweet Diana is a lot younger.

Anyway, great recap of a disturbing episode. Seeing the lovely Lari licking her chops as she plots more destruction is sad. And yet, I also understand her very human desire for revenge at any cost. I'm better off watching this in the morning. Going to sleep with such images in my brain is not the best.

Thanks for a lovely recap and hope the visit to the vets was helpful and not too costly. Our beloved pets are priceless but our pocketbooks are limited.

SILVIA

Like you, Jarifa, I was glad they shortened the chapter on Silvia's abusive marriage. Awful to watch and too much like the sad stories we see on the news every day. Amazed at how daring she was...and how impulsive, concerning the nude photos. Wonder if her life would have been more sedate if she had been able to have a happy, stable marriage.

Oh well, at least she had a very interesting life. No boredom around Silvia's household!

Thanks Jarifa. I had to look up Livia's bio to see that her first marriage only lasted a year. But I can imagine how disturbing it was to see her mom dancing and flirting with her latest romance. Very tough!

reina-soy

Thank you, Rgv Chick.

We usually see the villain manipulating, setting traps, causing all kinds of grief to the (not bright) good people. It is a change to see it reversed here. Sort of, we have a licence to appreciate the clever ways of making someone suffer. "An Alliance of Forces" - an alliance with Zaria and also with Juanjo. Team Yameli has grown.

It looks like Vanesa has not learned anything from the accident. She almost died, her friend lost a leg and she is back with Ruco, enjoying happy pills. Of course, daddy paid off all the liabilities, so DUI, running a red light and causing an accident has no consequences. Vanessa is going downhill.

"Erick is upset; he thought the three of them were a team…a family" - if only he knew how right he was.

Diana, good comments.

SILVIA

Jarifa, "This turned out to be very violent splice and dice with Silvia being emotionally, physically and sexually abused as well as threatened" was succinct and still said everything necessary to describe this almost impossible to watch episode.

I kept thinking and hoping that the escalating abuse would end any moment, but yet, it continued unabated. It is hard to comprehend she survived (physically and mentally) for 9 years. Incomprehensible.

And if I hadn't quickly seen Mane de la Parra's name (Juanjo on Reina), I never would have recognized him as Fernando. Sometimes I think hair makes much more of a difference on men rather than women.

Tonight will be the last episode I will be able to watch as I'm traveling next week.

Thank you for doing such a great job with this series!

Diana

REINA SOY

Thank you, Chickie. I would be lost without a recap. I wonder if Charly will step up and protect his mother and step brother ( son) from Monster. Will that finally be his redemption. He and Diana are such posers. I always get a kick out of watching them at the table eating because they both use their forks as if it is too much effort and wonder why someone isn't feeding them. Yami is now juggling a lot of balls , and I worry about what will happen to her if Monster discovers who she really is.

SYLVIA
Jarifa, thank you. I only had the horrible visual. What a life. I don't know if I would want it played out the tv screen if it were my life. What a rollercoaster...money and fame but all those men in her life.

SILVIA

JudyB, I felt sorry for Livia, too. Not a good thing.

Diana, as far as I know, this ends on Monday night so be sure to check for the recap. Here is hoping for a less violent episode tonight. Have a good and safe trip!

Susanlynn, I give Silvia credit for showing her life with all of the warts. I don’t think I would be so brave, : )

Thanks for stopping by the patio. It is always great to hear everyone’s opinion.

SYLVIA

Is the longhaired guy that Livia and Sylvia met the same actor who plays Juanjo on Reina Soy?

REINA

Thank you, Diana, JudyB, Lucio and Susanlynn!

Diana, I was also wondering how Erick's video would fare without him in it..but oh well everything flies in a TN!

JudyB, I agree that you and Diana are surely birds of a feather--pretty nice birds :-)

Lucio, ""Erick is upset; he thought the three of them were a team…a family" - if only he knew how right he was." I thought the exact same thing!

Susanlynn, I would be completely surprised if Charly protected his mother and Erick; he is too much into himself and his own "faaamily."

SYLVIA

Hi Susanlynn. Yes! I had noted in my comment I wasn't sure I would have recognized him if I hadn't seen his name in the credits - you have a good eye!

Diana

Diana, I missed your comment. I like long hair on guys , and I liked Mane in that look. As for his hairstyle in Reinasoy...not a fan of the half shaved ,half long and bleached look.

SILVIA

Susanlynn, totally agree on not liking the half-shaved (as you noted) two tone luke. At all.

I like long hair too (maybe the Sylvia look was a bit too long and 70 "ish") bu...

Diana

"REINA":

Lucio: Vanessa will end up DEAD!

Viridiana is following in her mother’s and Livia’s show business footsteps and is appearing in a soap opera. It is 1982 Viridiana is instrumental in getting Livia to forgive her mother for the Fernando fiasco.

REINA-SOY
Ep 26: Part 1 One Fish Has a Hit While Another Fish Takes the Bait

Yameli and Zaria meet at a bar like two new besties. They plot to start their destruction of Charly by contacting Alberto and asking for an interview since Charly went and punched Alberto for publishing photos of Vanessa. Zaria is to interview Alberto and upload it to her webpage.

Juanjo meets with El Buho and gives him a made up explanation for Yameli’s fake photos. Yameli just wanted to impress Charly because she had always dreamed of working with him.

Charly goes into his recording studio and tells Chris that they’re ready to release his single; they are planning a concert so Chris will sing with Charly. Meanwhile, Juanjo takes Erick’s single to El Bujo who thinks Pez Koi’s voice is the best…it’s smooth and genuine. He promises to play it, but he will send it to other stations, even stations in other countries, little by little.

Vanessa and Ruco are in a park smooching since her parents haven’t bothered to ask her where she is. When she asks Ruco for some of the stuff he gave her, Ruco invites her to his house so that they can both relax.

Erick is with Juanjo at his studio. He is nervous because Juanjo told him that El Buho will be playing his song soon. After Juanjo tells him to calm down and suggests that they have a party to celebrate the release of his song, Erick hopes that Yameli can attend because he misses her; and he sees her as his musical mother…he feels a connection to her. Just then Wendy calls Juanjo who immediately remembers that he was supposed to meet with her to select some flowers. Wendy lashes out at her Panda for forgetting…she feels that she is the only one having a wedding.

Vanessa and Ruco get to his house. Vanesa thinks it’s “cool.” He puts on some music, but Vanessa doesn’t really feel like dancing. She has too many problems at home. Generous Ruco helps her “disconnect” for a little while.

Zaria meets with Alberto and convinces him to give her an interview. Afterwards, she calls Yameli to inform her that she got Alberto to agree to the interview. When Zaria thanks Yameli, Yameli makes it clear that she isn’t doing this for Zaria; she is doing it for herself.

El Bujo introduces and plays Pez Koi’s song. Juanjo and Erick listen and start movin’ and groovin’ as do the kids in the barrio. Erick calls Yameli and leaves a message to thank her for everything and wishes he could give her a big hug. Meanwhile, Vanessa is high up in the clouds and wants to release her energy…which Ruco is happy to help her with.

Yameli goes to Charly’s office. He tells her that her message drove him crazy and wonders what they are going to do…as he caresses her smooth bottom. Yameli thinks they’ll just have to grin and bear it. She then mentions that she is worried about the concert because of the incident with Alberto. After she tells him that Alberto is going to give an interview, she suggests that he send someone to scare Alberto into not talking. Charly is pleasantly surprised that Yameli would suggest such a thing…it excites him.

Yameli meets with Ben and gives him the heads up about Charly contacting Monchkin to help him with Alberto. Yameli is sure Charly took the bait…and she is not wrong. Charly calls Monchkin to ask his help in giving Alberto a little scare since Alberto might compromise their concert. Monckin agrees, but wants a favor for the favor—he needs money.

Yameli as at Charly’s studio listening to Chris’s song when Charly comes in for an update on the concert. After he tells her that he is going to release the song the next day, Yameli asks what he is going to do about Alberto. Charly confides that he has arranged a little scare for Alberto; so Yameli quickly exits and calls Bento tell him to set up the operation…but she doesn’t want Alberto hurt.

REINA-SOY
Ep 26: Part 2 One Fish Has a Hit While Another Fish Takes the Bait

Monchkin tells Chente to give Alberto the scare…and to find his family even if he has to look under rocks.

Juanjo calls Wendy and leaves a message, He apologizes for forgetting about the flowers and everything else. He promises it won’t happen again and tells her that he luurves her. He then calls Yameli to ask if she heard Erick’s song; and it does him good to talk to her…it reminds him of old times. Just then, Charly enters the studio, so Yameli pretends to be talking to Marta, her friend. He flirts with her and wants to get it on, but Yameli needs to go rest.

Vanesa tells Diana that she wants to return to school

Charly tells Axel that he feels very frustrated since Yameli is playing a cat and mouse game with him. Axel suggests a private party to ease his tension.

Juanjo gets home expecting to get raked over the coals, but Wendy gives him a kiss instead. She can’t be angry with him. When she asks what is stressing him out, Juanjo explains that recording Erick’s song without Charly finding out about it was very difficult…but that will soon change since he is leaving Luxor. Wendy wonders about Yameli; so Juanjo tells her that Yameli will stay with Charly. Wendy keeps herself from doing cartwheels and assures Juanjo that she will support him in whatever he wants to do.

Charly and Axel have their private party with several young thangs. Meanwhile, Alberto calls Diana and they make plans to meet at his office the next day. As soon as he hangs up, Chente and his goons show up and beat the %&*# out of him (so much for Ben making sure he doesn’t get hurt). Agent Perez (Lady DEA) calls Ben and tells him that Monchkin’s men are beating up Alberto; she asks what they should do. Ben responds that they should call an ambulance…they’re objective is Chente who can lead them to Monchkin. They need to follow him. Perez follows Chente and his men, but they stop for a drinking binge in a barrio. Chente calls Monchkin and tells him the job is done…the dude won’t be bad-mouthing Charly anymore.

Charly gets home and checks on Vanesa who is fast asleep. He then goes to bed where Diana lies with her back turned away from him…while Chalry fantasizes about making love to Yameli.

The Next Day—

El Buho introduces and plays Chris’s song. While it’s playing, Charly is in the shower smiling with satisfaction and shakin’ his bootie (which we are deprived of seeing…DARN!); Yameli is in a park doing sit-ups, ad the kids in the barrio are outside listening to the song. Serg is among the kids and tells them that Cris’s song sucks; he riles everyone up to call El Buho and ask him to play Pez Koi’s song.
Erick goes to see Juanjo because he is worried; Chris’s song is playing everywhere. Juanjo assures him that his song is much better and asks what is really bothering Erick;; so Erick admits that he doesn’t want to let Juanjo down…and he doesn’t want to let Yameli down either. Juanjo smiles and assures Erick that he will not let them down and reminds him that Yameli always says ‘one step at a time.’ Juanjo then reminds Erick about the video and asks when he is going to upload it…Erick is the boss so he can upload it whenever he wants.

Yameli meets Ben to ask for an update on their recent mission. Ben tells her that Alberto got a good beating but he will be fine. Chente spent all night having fun with some little number, but they have him under surveillance. When Chente goes to see the odious Monchkin, they will move in. Yameli wants to be present when they grab the Monchkin; she wants him to see that she is alive.

REINA SOY

So I guess Ben thinks that "don't let them hurt him (Alberto)" is equivalent to "don't let them kill him??" That beating was hard to watch...and did I see correctly? they used brass knuckles?

SILVIA Part 2

Silvia considers Viridiana to be the guardian angel of her house especially after getting Livia to reconcile with her.

The governor is attending more of Silvia’s cabaret performances and filling her dressing room with flowers. Silvia is impressed with the governor. He is so smart . . .

The governor is clearly romancing Silvia and wants to put her to work in his cabinet. He thinks his state could benefit from someone like her being in charge of “culture.” She has no idea of what she would do in politics. She is so busy. He says he would take care of the political part and she could give him advice. He wants and needs her by his side in everything. Julio hands her a ring box and says they are getting married. Silvia reminds him she has been married three times. He responds that he has been divorced once. For what he wants to do, they should be married. They live in such a beautiful and modern country but it still is at its base very conservative and machista. They are two public figures. He wants to avoid the gossip. He wants to give her her place and for everyone to know that he adores her. She can take her time to make up her mind.

Viridiana is having her own romance with her boyfriend Javier and in the middle of a kissing session at work, her mother arrives to talk to her. Silvia knows what is going on when she sees her daughter’s smeared lips. Anyway, they are all in the board room waiting for Viridiana and Javier to read part of the novela they are working on. It looks like Silvia is producing it.

Later Silvia asks Viridiana if Javier is her boyfriend. Viridiana says they are just friends but Silvia knows better and is worried how a relationship with him could affect Viridiana’s work and life. Everyone knows about her and he has a drug problem. Viridiana says that has nothing to do with her relationship with him. Silvia tells her daughter that if she tries drugs she won’t escape them. You cannot be okay with drugs. Silvia knows what she is taking about after her experience with Fernando. It is clear that Viridiana is giving a blind eye to Javier’s drug problem.

Julio gives Viridiana a car. She is all excited. Silvia wants to pay him for it. He refuses because he wants Silvia to know she is no longer alone having to bear the burden of everything all by herself.

Viridiana has been nominated for an Ariel award. She and Silvia are overjoyed. Viridiana sees 1982 as a blessed year. It is her year.
Viridiana wants to talk to Silvia after shooting the final scene of the novela she is working on. Silvia mentions she has five days to go until her wedding but now it is all about Javier and Viridiana. Silvia says anyone could tell they are in love with each other just by looking at either of them. That is exactly what Viridiana doesn’t want. She doesn’t want anybody to know. She wants her private life to be private. Silvia tells her she will have to get used to show business. Viridiana follows her mother to her wedding dress fitting.

Afterwards, Viridiana goes to a cast party with Javier and their friends. They all cheer her. She tells Javier she cannot stay long because she has to be up early tomorrow. She stays a while and thanks them all for the party.

It is storming when Viridiana leaves the party. At home, her grandmother tells Silvia that Viridiana has not arrived home yet. She is worried about her in the storm. Silvia doesn’t see anything to be concerned about because she thinks Viridiana is still at the party. As she is driving, Viridiana has a momentary lapse of attention and her car is hit and run off the road. It tumbles down an embankment.

SILVIA

"Cachún, Cachún, Ra, Ra" was a very famous TV show in the 80s (I was a fan, as every teenager back then) where Viridiana performed, she let the show since she also was doing theater and telenovela ("Mañana es primavera" starred and produced by Silvia Pinal) the telenovela was still on production when the accident occurred.

SILVIA

Tquir, thanks for the background information on the shows. It would have been a good idea for them to include more of that in this production.

"SILVIA":

Jarifa: Thank you for the recap. I cringed watching the automobile accident.

SILVIA

My goodness, each new chapter in Silvia's life becomes more and more depressing. Our independent, impulsive lady clearly "loved not wisely but too well". At least she had the sense to end these disastrous relationships eventually.

My heart weeps for any parent who loses a child. And evidently this daughter Vridiana had an unusually sensitive and loving heart. Clearly the peacemaker in the family.

Thanks for the resumé Jarifa. This is a tumultuous and tragic tale.

REINA

Great recap Chickie. You made me laugh with "young thangs"...yep, certainly looked like a vacuous group of young'uns. No wonder Charly left them all to Axel--he likes the gal who play hard to get.

And this was perfect:

Wendy," keeping herself from doing cartwheels" when she learns Yameli will stay at Luxor while Juanjo is leaving.

I wish Wendy well with her dreams of happily ever after, but it doesn't seem likely that it's going to happen. Still, she played her cards well. Yelling at someone rarely convinces them they're wrong. As an old friend of the family used to say "You catch more flies with honey than vinegar." I'll keep my fingers crossed for this couple, but it doesn't look good right now.

I'm exhausted recapping one show daily. I don't know how you manage to do two daily recaps, but I salute you jefecita. You're the best.

Sylvia

Jarifa, I than I you daily for your giving so generously if your time and talent. Please know how much I appreciate you and look forward to spending some time here at the patio. It is a nice mini vacation for me every day. This episode left us with the knowledge that the next episode will be full of heartache for Sylvia. Losing a child is the kind of heartache that never ever goes away..para siempre. I have loved Edgar LaGuardia (the governor) since I first met him IN my first telenovela Alborada.

Chickie, Thank you , Thank you for your wonderful , detailed recaps. I look forward to them every day , and I do appreciate your doing this task for us. I know that it takes a lot of time and dedication. I just have surfed away during Alberto's beating..thank goodness. There is more and more collateral damage from Yami's vendetta. One bright spot is the sweet relationship forming between Juanjo and Erich, who is actually smiling. I am terrified of what will happen to him and his mother (grandmother !) When Monster finds them...and we know that he
will. I

Gorgeous day here . Sunny and 70.

Thank you, Rgv Chick.

"Wendy keeps herself from doing cartwheels" - loved it. Exactly.
"while Chalry fantasizes about making love to Yameli" - He might have, but the love scene was of Wendy and Juanjo.
I didn't like how Yamelí set up and used Alberto. Got him beat up just to get a lead on Monchis. That kind of using of people I expect from Charly. Careful not to turn into Charly in the process.

REINA-SOY

Thanks, JudyB, Susanlynn and Lucio!

JudyB, Charly does seem to be set on getting his way with Yameli..and maybe a little too much talk no action type of guy??

Susanlynn, I don't blame you for surfing past that beating. If that was a "little scare" I'd hate to see what a bigger scare would be like. "One bright spot is the sweet relationship forming between Juanjo and Erich, who is actually smiling." Yes, indeed, those smiles do melt away all the ugliness.

Lucio, thank you for clarifying that it was Wendy and Juanjo in the love scene. I could have sworn that it was Yameli and I didn't take a good look at the guy. OOPSIE! "I didn't like how Yamelí set up and used Alberto." Me neither! She did ask Ben to make sure that Alberto wouldn't get hurt so I thought the agents were going to intervene somehow to avoid the beating. I was very disappointed that Yameli didn't show any remorse when she found out that ALberto did get beat up. Just because he isn't dead doesn't mean that he didn't get hurt. But to quote JudyB, "It's only a story!"

Have a great week-end and a VERY HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO EVERYONE!

REINA

Rgv Chick, thank you for your witty, wise wonderful recap.

So many favorites but "Generous Ruco helps her “disconnect” for a little while" and "several young thangs" topped the list.

"After she tells him that Alberto is going to give an interview, she suggests that he send someone to scare Alberto into not talking". I did not understand that very critical statement. That surprised me and not in a good way. She has seen the brutality first hand and knows what Monchis men are capable of. She is trying to play God a role she is ill suited for. Also, does she think Charly will want her more with a cruel streak? She is certainly not radiating much sunshine and goodness anywhere here. And yes, those were definitely brass knuckles. Lucio, yes, Yameli needs a warning...

Susanlynn, I'm a bit surprised Monchis hasn't found Lidia and Erick. If Ben's force ever do make a move and capture his thugs, perhaps that will stall things a bit. Also, Ben seems pretty well bent on his mission. He does't seem to care who gets hurt either.

Yes, Juanjo and Erick were cute together...

Judy, I felt for Wendy and her very dark circles under her eyes. I think Juanjo and Wendy might be better suited for each other. They've already developed into a family with his siblings. I can't see and Yameli's outlook on if and how revenge should be handled, and I am not sure the two will ever be reconciled. I don't think Yameli is mentally ready for any relationship. She has way too much healing to do.

Rgv Chick, thank you for your time, energy and creativity. Sorry to be so late - trying to get ready for a business trip and I just can't seem to get everything done.

I look forward to catching up when I return next week.

Hope everyone stays well.

Diana

SILVIA

JudyB, well, it will be interesting to see how they finish up this dramatic tale and bring the viewer from 1982 up to the present time in all of two hours. I wish they would have included more of Silvia’s own commentary.

Susanlynn, I am glad that you decided to join us for this one on the patio. The patio is a special kind of place. : ) I had only seen LaGuardia in “Amores con trampa” before this and liked his performance there, too. He had a mustache in that one that made him more of a cutie. I have heard lots of good reports about “Alborada” through the years but that was before I was watching novelas.
