"LA DONA 2":

Deb: I'm assuming Danna Paloa will be back in this Telenovela as well as some of the others from the 1st Season ?

Such sad news about Edith. I loved her work. She was amazing as Doña Bárbara and did a great job in Eva La Trailera, even though it wasn't the best novela I ever saw.

Here are a few developments from last night's episode.

Francesco/Lupo/Emilio hires an old friend (and apparent prostitute) from his childhood, Vita, to pose as his ex-wife, along with her two children, at the dinner with Teresa. She knows him as Michele. Let's call him FLEM.

Sofia gathers a bunch of trash and sets fire to it to call attention, perhaps from the police. Batman is furious and apparently ties her to her bed and gags her. The police arrive and search the grounds. The top cop hears a noise (made by the bound and gagged Sofia) and wants to search the house. Batman "persuades" him with a bribe not to do so, saying it would get him (Batman) in troucle with his boss. His persuasion works. The police leave.

Renate insists to a psychologist/therapist/whatever that Sofia's call for help is real. She shows the psychologist the note Sofia wrote. The psychologist asks her to write the name "Sofia Aljarafe." Renate does so and says that as the psychologist can see, the note is not in her handwriting. The psychologist, alas, sees this as evidence of a serious disturbance known as "dissociative identity disorder." Tells this to Renate's mother and says they'll try a new medication. The mother says she'll tell her ex-husband (Zurdo) about this serious turn of events.

Zurdo is upset that Teresa turned down his invitation to have dinner with him because of a "prior commitment." He crashes the dinner that Teresa is having with FLEM and his "family." FLEM and "family" leave a suspicious and angry Zurdo with Teresa. She goes back to her room, doesn't let Zurdo come in, and tells him that her private life is private.

Vita tells FLEM, "I've known you since we were children in the orphanage, and you've always been the man who never fell in love--until now."

When Teesa opens the door to her room, she finds FLEM there. He tells her, "I don't know what I'm doing here. I had to see you. I don't want to continue with this lie." [I'm all excited--is he going to spill the beans? After several minutes of commercials, I see that the answer is NO. At least, not yet.] They kiss, but Teresa tells him that the only thing that matters to her now is her daughter. She shows him the video and says that she'll do whatever it takes to get her back. Even sleep with Zurdo, if need be. FLEM tells her that what happened between them wasn't a lie. "I didn't plan on falling in love with you." He goes to leave, stops at the door, returns. Kisses her...and stays the night.

Rocio tells an enamored Faustino that there's no future for them. The problem isn't what her grandmother said but rather what he does for a living. Her father got mixed up with the narcos, and look what happened to him. And her mother committed suicide.

Cayetana tells Charo that they're going to go to Mexico to find Sofia and bring her back. Is your passport up to date? No passport? No problem, Rodrigo will take care of it. Charo tries to point out to Cayetana the problems involved, not the least of which is that she doesn't know where Sofia is, nor does Teresa. No problem.

Teresa tells FLEM that Sofia's birthday is in two days. It's the first time they've been apart on that day.

Sofia thinks to herself that the only present she'd like for her birthday is to go far away with her abuela Cayetana.

La Reina 2

wow, that was a terrific recap Juanita!

Vita sure cleaned up nice, but I thought Lupo had 2 daughters.

and she has known him since they were kids so I'm thinking Michele (which sounds really neat spoken by an Italian) is Lupo's real name.

Renata sure could use a real friend, or at least someone that believes her.

interesting that Lupo admits his love for Teresa (and ask forgiveness for what he is and will do), can we believe him?

I'm loving Sofia's picture storybook, now a page on the cops taking the bribe.

and the behind-the-scenes pics are kind of neat, they take the bite out of the violence as we get to see Siso and cousins having fun with there death scenes.

REINA 2

Juanita, thanks for the recap. I have not seen this yet but contrary to popular tastes, I never met a spoiler I didn’t like. FLEM is pure genius. I am still laughing. Looks like I will be enjoying this capítulo. More later.

Thanks SO much, Juanita, for the mini-cap! It crossed my mind this morning but I was pretty bummed about the basketball game. They played their hearts out, but simply didn’t have enough offense from multiple injuries to win one more game.

I’m also pretty bummed at how my Italian is almost gone. I took a year of Italian in the 80’s because of my love of opera. It was also useful in traveling there, but only remnants remain now.

Zurdo is a complete ass. The setup, however, worked out well. If Teresa hadn’t invited Vita to stay for dinner, there would not have been another woman helping to make this look like an innocent dinner with friends. The way he was behaving as if he owned her was infuriating. If it had not been for FLEM’s professional need to keep the plot to help Epifanio working, FLEM might have murdered Zurdo right there with a butter knife.

I really enjoyed FLEM’s relationship with Vita. They were in the orphanage together and are good friends. She also mentioned his having joined the military right out of the orphanage.

Kate was fabulous in her impassioned scene with Lupo. She told him Sofía was her priority and he could just hit the road. I was kind of hoping they’d leave it at that. But TN’s never miss a chance for a carefully draped with sheets sex scene.

Batman continues to be SO entertaining. There was no chance Sofía was going to get to tell the cops her story, but she continues to try. And, on some level, while exasperated, Batman likes her.

Many thanks, deb, Jarifa, and novelera.

deb, I think you're right about FLEM's having said he had two daughters. I'd forgotten about that. And I agree that since Vita has known FLEM as Michele since childhood, that's likely his real name.

Jarifa, glad you liked "FLEM." I was pretty pleased with it myself. :-) And I'm sure we'd all love your comments after you see the episode. It's a good one, but then again, almost all of them have been well done. I never expected the sequel to be this good.

novelera, mi más sentido pésame on the Warriors' loss. As an old Brooklyn Dodgers fan, I'm accustomed to saying "Wait 'til next year!" Loved the image you offered of FLEM killing Zurdo with a butter knife. :-)

I'm soon leaving for the rest of the day and evening. How clever of me to have scheduled all this on a day when there's no novela.

REINA 2

This was a great episode where everything just simmered along very nicely.

Zurdo is turning out to be way more high maintenance than what I had expected.

Nice sizzling scenes with Rocío and Godoy and then with Teresa and FLEM.

I feel sorry for Godoy. Nice guy employed in the WRONG business.

I also feel sorry for FLEM. He is stuck plain and simple. He never planned on falling in love with Teresa. I could have choked on my afternoon café when Teresa told FLEM he sounded like he knew her daughter the way he talked about her. Here is hoping he will end up being instrumental in solving the whole mess for Teresa. I want a happy ever after for FLEM and Teresa.

The behind the scenes at the end was entertaining as ever.

deb, thanks for the news on show schedules and on the interview. I felt sorry for Renata now being pigeonholed amidst the psychobabble when she was just trying to help out someone else.. She will probably think twice or even “thrice” before trying to help someone else again.

novelera, sorry that your team lost but they had an excellent ride. “TN’s never miss a chance for a carefully draped sex scene.” So true but usually entertaining. I did like Teresa being completely honest with what she would do to save her daughter.

Juanita, I thought “ Wait til next year” was only for long suffering Chicago Cubs fans. LOL

Jarifa, Francesco/Lupo did know Sofía before the kidnapping. He met the two of them in Italy in that scene that was set up for Francesco to rescue Sofía from the young guy who dribbled a soccer ball in front of a car. As they mentioned last night, this went on to a relationship involving Teresa selling marmalade to Francesco.

And, when Sofía got away from Batman and the other kidnappers, she willingly jumped into the car with Francesco, thinking he was saving her from the "bad guys".

Yep, Teresa doesn't mince words. She told Fisterra the same thing. She got into bed with Chaib to get him the hashish smuggling deal he wanted, even though she was very reluctant to be around drug smuggling ever again after what happened to El Güero.

Thanks, novelera, you are right. That seems so long ago.

I was out of the house and couldn't reply on my smartphone but what a tragedy to lose Edith Gonzales. I first saw her in the 1993 Corazon Salvaje and she was a class act. She will be great missed.

reina-sur-2

Thanks, Juanita.

Funny when Lupo scolded the kids, out of Teresa's earshot, for calling him by his name instead of "daddy." Hey, Lupo, these kids have no training in espionage. They just want ice cream.

So Rocio is the adult in the relationship with Godoy. He's a live for today, don't think about tomorrow kind of guy. I like that he made her no false promises.

I think the psych knows nothing is wrong with that little girl and is bilking her mom for money. Really, how could the girl come up with a completely different handwriting?
