Por Amar Sin Ley, Season 2 Lunes 7/1/19 Episode 74: The Beginning of the End

Scenes combined where it made sense to do so.

Nancy came into Carlos' office with information that the police have about Alan's car having been serviced. The report described rear-end dents. Carlos said that this proved nothing, but Nancy told him that if Alan doesn't tell the entire truth they would not be able to provide an effective defense. Carlos pointed out that Alan was too weak to do something like this. [Which shows that he didn't really know him.]

Lorena walked into Vega on air and found Manuel in the library. He knew from the look on her face that she had won the case. He picked her up, spun around a few steps, and said they had to celebrate. She described what happened in the courtroom. She talked about Gustavo giving her great confidence. Then she said she adored him, which brought Manuel back to earth.

Damián came to see Carlos about Alan; he was concerned about how his business would be handled. Carlos didn't tell him any details about Alan's situation, describing it as “a misunderstanding.” Damián was considering taking his business elsewhere. Carlos tried to assure Damián that his firm would handle his business as usual and that his firm never loses. Damián asked if he was sure, got an affirmative answer, and they shook hands.

Victoria and Ricardo discussed Diego's case. It was happening because of the current administration's zero tolerance policy. Ricardo worked out that Diego had spent most of his life in the US, so he might be more US than Mexican. In view also of him having a family and a business he said they had to get started immediately, which always starts with briefing Alonso.

Manuel was taken aback and Lorena noticed his facial expression. When she asked him about that he quickly said “I thought you were interested in Ricardo.” [Good save, Manuel.] She went on about Gustavo's strength and his ability to carry on and how she hoped that when he recovers he can see that she could make him happy. [Good grief, Lorena; he's old enough to be your father.]

El Gringo was on the phone with El Chivo, whom he wanted to see right away. He was preparing to move on El Ciego, details still pending.

After hearing the details of the case Alonso was confident in Victoria, whom he said had really grown as a lawyer. He was confident that the truth could prevail in the case.

Over lunch Lucia started asking Roberto about his love life. He told her there was a woman who interested him and everything else except her identity. She said that surely there were others and he said No. He finally said that he had never believed in stable relationships then said he didn't want to talk about it.

Ricardo told Gustavo he will be going to Boston with Victoria about the deportation case. He asked him not to give up on investigating El Gringo and to let him know if anything came up.

Lucia first tried to blame Nicolás for Roberto's attitude but made a point of saying that he was not completely to blame for it. She tried telling Roberto she came to get to know him, etc and finally that she was beginning to sense that he didn't welcome her into his life. “Although it would hurt me in my soul, I'll go if you want me to.” She rose to leave, but Roberto stopped her. He said that is wasn't that he didn't want her in his life, but that this would take time because it was difficult. She said it was also difficult for her. He said he wanted her in his life because she was his mother. She was happy; however he was as deadpan as ever in her presence. She said she'd like him to be more demonstrative about wanting her company. [I still don't trust her.]

Manuel vented to Juan.

Ricardo and Gustavo talked about Lorena's first court case and how she has gotten off to a good start. Gustavo thought she would have a good future in Family Law. The two of them thought they should develop the young ones' talents and Gustavo said they needed also to make sure that they would be safe so they needed to get the killers.

Juan vented to Roberto. He explained that he didn't feel anything for Tatiana that was on the order of his feelings for Fernanda. He had tried to fight for her but it did no good. Roberto told him to keep his feelings for Fernanda out of his interactions with other women. He had to protect himself.

El Chivo was greeted sometime that night by a blow from and a loaded gun in the hands of El Gringo, who told him he was not accepting any excuses. A fewe blows later he insisted El Chivo reveal El Ciego's location. He handed his cell to him and he followed instructions. By this time he was bleeding from a head wound. [His days are numbered.]

Carlos visited Alan in the lockup and updated him. He pressed for the truth. Alan denied that he did anything. Carlos told him that the state's evidence is very subjective and that they were looking into Tellez' past cases. Alan kept insisting that Tellez came to him for help and that he had turned him down because he didn't have the knowledge to help him. He begged Carlos to get him out. Carlos finally said he would and he would see him in court.

Roberto tried to see Victoria but stopped at the sound of Adrián's voice behind her door. They were talking about the deportation case. He stepped away and did not hear the rest of their conversation which involved Adrián wanting to accompany her to Boston and do more than back her up in court. As to that, she said she needed to think. A kiss later we realize he is not accompanying her there but saying that the last thing he wants to do was to hurt her and that he will be thinking of her.

Carlos told Nancy that Alan said the dents in the car were coincidental and the result of a minor accident. He thought he had enough to get Alan freed and tried to turn down her offer of assistance. She could be there to assist him but he would handle the arguments. He finally told her that once this was over Alan would not be returning to the firm.

El Gringo and at least a dozen others – including El Chivo – left to wipe out El Ciego and all his men.

Paula and Jaime talked over wine. She was getting better and he decided it might be time for him to go come to his own place and give her her privacy. She looked disappointed. They continued talking and Jaime didn't really want to leave. [Reconciliation?]

Ricardo told Sofia about the case and that he would be thinking of her when in Boston. He said to call him if she needed to talk.

El Gringo and his crew arrived at El Ciego's lair. Nine of them lined up with assault rifles and began shooting. Nobody appeared to be inside. They entered and saw no one. El Gringo asked the Goat if there was another entrance and he said there was none. They heard something slam and advanced further inside. One fired, getting someone who had been hiding. They found him and dragged him out. El Gringo demanded to know where El Ciego was and the man said he didn't know. They started to leave and El Chivo shot this man in the head so as to leave no witnesses.

Juan took Tatiana dancing. She talked about an elegant suit she saw on another lawyer and that Juan should have a bigger wardrobe. [I don't like where this is going.]

El Ciego turned up at Carlos' apartment with more money. He poured himself a drink and asked about Alan. Carlos said it had nothing to do with him and that Alan was innocent. El Ciego sat down and said they had to talk about it.

UA: Enjoyed your recap on the episode.

1.) Tatiana will continue upping the ante even further.

2.) Robert overhearing a private conversation between Adrian & Vicky ?

3.) Ricardo going to Boston, MA in tackling the deportation case. What could possibly go wrong ?

4.) Carlos is still an IDIOT. The chickens are coming home to roost buddy!

5.) Let's hope the law enforcement agencies can catch El Ciego & Co.,

6.) Does Fernanda know yet ?

Thanks, Urban.

Hmmm, if Lorena, works a case with Alonso, will she fall for him too? I'd like to see Gustavo with someone mature, not flighty.

Carlos, boy are you in for a huge surprise. Better thank your lucky stars that Nancy is in your corner.

Lorena definitely has Daddy Issues.

I don't see Carlos getting away with the money laundering much longer. And Nancy is getting jealous of Michelle, so I don't think she will be much help to him for much longer either.

Have they announced Ultimas Semanas yet?

Everybody's life is Movin right along. The liars keep lying, and the
Killers keep killing. The feelings of the heart are growing stronger. I
Don't know what the hell is going on with Lorena. That chick needs a
Nice cup of tea. That kind that puts
You in a restful state so you can sleep. Then when she wakes up she's thinkin clearly and get out of that weird high she's on. Did she go to law school to become a lawyer or to fall in love with a senior partner?
Maybe she got daddy issues, cuz gus
Is old enough to be her daddy. He is to Serious for her, now she needs somebody like Manuel. Good luck Manny.

Carlos looked so whiped when El ciego tossed that stack of warped bills at him. Like he wished he'd never Met that nutjob. Probly so. To
Late baby now it's to late...

Roberto, mommie issues.
Maybe something good will happen for somebody tonight.

Thanks Urban.

I won't watch a 3rd season of this.
Naw, 2 is enough for me.

I didn't realise the World Cup would bump the show last night. According to my local TV listing, there's no show tonight either, but it will air Thursday and Friday.

Urban, Uni announced ultimas semanas Monday night. Nina, ITA they need to wrap up these stories this season, two is enough.

I wouldn't mind a third season of this. It's different, it's interesting, and this season has been an improvement over the first.

The ratings have also been a slight improvement. Televisa has probably made a decision based on whether the writers and cast are willing.

@Niecie It wasn't World Cup it was a Gold Cup Semi Final. There are three major futbol tournaments going on right now but Univision only broadcasts the Gold Cup. Telemundo does the Women World Cup and Copa America. Im aware no one will care here but just wanted to clarify.

Women's World Cup has been AWESOME so far. Team USA is in the final on Sunday, against whoever wins today (either the Netherlands or Sweden.)

Ana, thanks for clarifying!

I'm getting more into women's soccer, but I need a bigger TV screen to enjoy it better.

WooHoo--Back ready to contribute to the goings on in PASL.
El Ciego and his band sure vacated the warehouse with all the stacks of "merca" in a hurry. They did leave behind all their empties. Help me here, who is the turncoat in El Gringo's band who is clueing in El Ciego on what El Gringo is planning?

My thoughts align with Nancy "screwing" Carlos over Michelle. It showed so clearly in her face she's pretty much done with him. But I don't think she wants to become unemployed or embroiled in his money laundering (which she won't be able to prove she had nothing to do with). Or, maybe she sees the possibility of taking over Ibarra y Paez when it crashes and burns and renames it Nancy's Buffet(e).

So, why is Ric getting to go to Boston? He can't practice there. I don't think he can even sit at the defendant's table without being recognized and having some sort of credentials. (Maybe some sort of reciprocal arrangement is enough as long as he doesn't get up.) Besides, he just got back from Cabo. Could it be that he is listed first in the credits?

I'd much rather have seen Adrian and Vicky go, to Robby's torment. But he has enough torment going on over his mother. I desperately want Lucia to be on the up and up, but like most of you, why isn't Robby asking for details on her life for the past 25 years (I'm assuming he's way over 30 now). Inquiring minds wish to know. And yes, for a seasoned actress, HR is being handed lines too syrupy for anyone--and she's sticking to it--she just wants to get to know her son...

Why did they pick Boston? Oh, because the ink on Victoria's on-line bar exam is barely dry and she's ready to fly solo.

Diego seemed like a smart man to establish a legitimate business. Just how do you do that without a Social Security number and a Tax ID number in the last 50 years? He seems to have employees, so is surely dealing with Income Tax Withholding, Unemployment Compensation, etc., etc. He has a home, a daughter, a partner. Wasn't she ever worried about his status as a non-citizen? If she truly loved him, why wouldn't they have gotten married. (SAY YES to the RING.) And last of all, why didn't he try to get a green card and work towards his citizenship before now?

Oh, and sorry, but I'm so uninterested in Paula and Jaime--unless Alejandra comes back from the dead.

Your welcome Niecie and everyone i didn't mean to sound snarky. Im a huge Soccer fanatic so i enjoy all these tournaments. Yes the World Cup has been amazing and so controversial. Unfortunately the two teams i was rooting for are already eliminated like Australia and England so i'm sad. I will still root for Mexico in the Gold Cup though. These Novelas are only my guilty pleasure.

I take back what I said about Televisa not having anything worthwhile to watch next season.

They will air the telenovela "El Último Dragón" with my heartthrob Sebastián Rulli.

I guess I haven't been watching enough YouTube telenovela gossip videos lately.

OT:

Last night I was in a sports bar with friends when one of the TV screens was tuned to Once Mexico, which is equivalent to PBS. If you have Direct TV, you can get it. I can't and I was sorry to miss last night's offering, which was a performance of Die Fledermaus.

Those of you who are ahead on episodes, please WATCH THE SPOILERS. If you need to be reminded where we are, it might help to check the episode titles in Wikipedia. There have been several references to Episode 79, which is still a week away.
