Por Amar Sin Ley, Season 2 Miercoles 7/17/19 Episode 84: Three Blondes

Scenes combined where it made sense to do so.

Mexico City: Roberto got on Adrián's case for having concealed his green-card marriage and warned him not to mess with Victoria's feelings. Adrián asked who Roberto was to appoint himself in charge of this. Roberto cited the usual reasons. Adrián finally told him that the reason for Debbie's visit was their divorce. Now that he is free yes, he intended to begin a relationship with Victoria, who was aware of all this. He further told Roberto that Victoria can take care of herself and didn't require his protection or anyone else's. This made it obvious to him that Roberto was in love with Victoria. Roberto said that it was none of his business. They argued about each other's honesty, ending with Roberto repeating his threat on his way out.

Juan told Manuel that Adrián wanted them to accompany him to San Diego for the case. Manuel got excited to the extent that someone told him to keep his voice down. He was thrilled at the opportunity and how he thought this would impress Lorena. Juan told him to calm down a bit.

At lunch Carlos told Michelle about Alan stealing from the firm. She said she couldn't believe any family member could do such a thing and offered to help. Carlos told her that listening was enough. When he kissed her she looked over his shoulder at her brother's right-hand man, who was watching them.

Juan and Manuel went into Adrián's office to discuss the case.

Carlos asked Michelle how her business was doing and she said it was going well. He asked her if she was alright. She said she was and excused herself to go to the rest room. Her brother's thug went down the stairs and continued to watch her. She paused near the rail and called her brother to demand to know why he was tailing her. He gave her the usual excuses and she told him to call off his dog or she would raise a ruckus that would bring the police. She waited long enough to see the man answer his phone and leave (His name appears to be Kevin.)

Adrián told Juan and Manuel they needed to research their client to make sure that there were no other arrests, especially for human trafficking. This was the most likely charge that would be brought against him. They needed to show that their client was squeaky-clean. Juan asked what they would do if they learn otherwise. Then their client would have to plead guilty to something. They needed to gather all their information in preparation for the meeting.

Michelle was in a better mood when she returned to the table. Carlos did not suspect that anything was wrong. They kissed and got back to lunch.

Tatiana called Juan to remind him he had a surprise for her. He told her he was busy at the moment and asked where she was. She was just leaving work to go home. He said he had another surprise for her and he would see her later at her place.

Gustavo went back to the scene of the murder and took more photos with his cell phone. He did not know that Lorena had followed him and was watching from her car. Gustavo stopped a young man who was passing by to ask questions about the place, but he said he knew nothing and thought it better he didn't. Lorena drove out before she could be seen. [Someone should give her a very stern lecture on this.]

Ricardo and Sofia worked together in her office on Benjamín's case. He was getting emotional and Sofia reminded him that he needed to keep a cool head about the case. They could all breathe more easily once Alejandra's killer was found.

Tatiana was going down the stairs from her apartment when Juan called her to say he was almost there. She exited the building and he pulled up in his new car. She was thrilled to pieces, talking about how he deserved it after all his hard work. They got in and headed to a restaurant. [Who else thinks he should have waited until after the San Diego trip to pick it up? My gut says something is going to happen to it while he's gone.]

Sofia talked about how Ricardo helped everyone else but now needed help himself. She wanted him to know he wasn't alone. He seemed to appreciate that very much. They almost kissed, but backed off. She picked up a document and saw the reference to the video that outed Benjamín as having taken dirty money. She said that it could be open to interpretation. Ricardo didn't think so. Sofia said that if it was they could get Benjamín out or get his sentence reduced. They had a chance at nullifying his sentence due to insufficient proof for federal court. [Someone please clarify or elaborate on that if possible.]

Adrián visited Victoria in her office to invite her out for dinner. She declined his offer. He explained he would be away for a few days on a case in San Diego. He took her hand and asked her politely whether there had been anything between her and Roberto. He released her hand when she made a fist.

Tatiana stood up in the shotgun seat while Juan was driving with the top down. She was excited about this. She was just as excited when he told her he was going to try his first case in the US. Of course, the first thing she thought of was of him being paid in US dollars. He said he wasn't sure of that, only that he appreciated the vote of confidence.

Victoria did not want to talk about this. Adrián said he didn't want to pry but Roberto had said not to hurt her. She was not surprised. She explained that she and Roberto had always been close and that there was a moment when something might have happened. But nothing did and she decided it was better that way. Adrián wondered whether Roberto was one of the men who had hurt her and he is now having a guilt attack about it.

Tatiana began talking about them taking a trip together to Vegas. Juan said they could plan that when he got vacation time. [Obviously he is now color-blind so as not to see the serious red flags all around him.] She mentioned Acapulco [Where was she when that place went all to hell?]

Victoria said that there had not been a romantic relationship between her and Roberto; they were friends and colleagues but nothing more. Adrián told her that when he was talking to Roberto before he detected a hint of jealousy. She then told him that this was why she didn't get involved. He made one last bid to get her to give him a chance because he would never hurt her.

Ricardo and Sofia continued to talk about getting over pain. [FF]

Benjamín and Ramiro met. Ramiro blamed him for his incarceration. Benjamín tried to get him to tust him, but failed this time.

Juan went home and tried to talk to Susanna. He didn't like being on the outs with her. She told him she didn't either but wanted him to make good decisions. She didn't like seeing him with Tatiana, whom she blamed for Fernanda breaking up with him. He told her that was not the case, that Fernanda had issues before Tatiana was a factor. Susanna said that she was sure that Tatiana would be the perdition of any man. Juan swore that Tatiana had nothing to do with that. He was simply looking to improve himself. Susanna insisted that this doesn't have to be done with money. He told her that it was just that they could now have things they couldn't before. He told her about his next case and she started to cry. He was getting into things she didn't understand. But she was proud of him.

Michelle ordered Kevin out of the room and confronted her brother. They had the same argument. She pointed out that she managed the US business on her own and he said she did a poor job, as she was doing now. After she walked out he ordered Kevin to start following Carlos in the morning. He wanted to know where he lived, what he does, and especially if he was with Michelle.

Ricardo looked sadly at a photo of himself with Alejandra.

The next morning he visited Benjamín who told him that Karina had never come to see him and he had not seen his son. He didn't want him to know he was in prison but didn't want to be forgotten or forsaken. Ricardo told him he needed to understand that this isn't easy for Karina. Benjamín said that this was why he needed to get out, to recover his family. [Fat chance.] Ricardo told him that they had been reviewing his case and they thought they might have something. He showed hiim the document, then told him that if he had nothing valuable about Ramiro Dorantes, he can forget about this. Benjamín said he would need more time, as Ramiro was difficult. He then had to remind Ricardo that he (himself) was a great lawyer, “As good as you” and that he deserved to be freed. Ricardo told him to do what he had to to get information out of Ramiro. He shook hands with him, but reluctantly.

Alonso told Lourdes about the Aguirre case, adding that he was sending Manuel so he could learn about international cases. That he reminded him of himself at the same age, with the same attitudes and habits. He asked Lourdes about her youth and she told him that she doesn't like to talk about it because it was a difficult time in her life.

San Diego: The lawyers met with Jorge's parents. Adrián explained they would need to meet with their son. They asked if they could pay a fine but he told them that in that state there was no fine for this. Armando was very upset. Juan assured him they would do everything possible. Cecelia said that she knew her son had broken the law but he was a good person who always helped people. How is it that authorities don't understand that? Armando said that his son was young with a whole life ahead of him. He didn't want him to lose it all.

Lourdes explained to Alonso that she had been orphaned and had to work hard. He said that was admirable but she also said she had been very vulnerable and that there were always people who take advantage of that. Alonso kept listening, telling her that she had worked her way up, etc. That he admired her the more and that he loved her. She told him she loved him, too.

UA--Either I fell asleep before the end, or the scenes with Jorge's parents wasn't broadcast. If the latter, me thinks, Uni has gotten out its shears and is madly looking for stuff to snip.

It seems we are getting two steps forward and 1 1/2 steps backward on the "personal" cases of the characters. Whatever Etapas Culminantes means, I fear we WON'T get a resolution to all the relationships that are on the edge of becoming culminante (Michelle/Carlos, Victoria/Adrian/Roberto, Juan/Tatiana/Mami)

And just now we have some background on Lourdes? At this late date? I thought she was just there as an ornament for Alonso, to show he was still a viril man.

UA-Was it Eva Luna--oh no, that was two GUYS that ended up in the pool. Still thinking.

Urban A,

Fabulous recap and much dedication behind all of your efforts.

I believe the word fianza in this instance means BAIL.
No BAIL is posted in cases of this nature.

Thanks, Urban.

He was thrilled at the opportunity and how he thought this would impress Lorena. Juan told him to calm down a bit.

Juan used to be the one gushing like a school kid around the Vega lawyers. So it’s funny that now he’s the one telling Manuel to tone down.

I’m guessing someone from Lourdes’ sad youth is about to pop up and a new law case will be fired up.

I like Fer. Even if she doesn’t wind up with Juan, I’d like to see what she’s up to.

The show gets bumped tonight for Premios Juventud.

I learned a few minutes ago, it was my fault I missed the last few minutes.

See you all around in about 10 days.

What do y'all think?

Who is the stupidest Vega lawyer?
Who is the smartest Vega lawyer?

You can include Jaime, Carlos, Alan, and Nancy should you so wish.

The smartest is Alonso because he keeps a cool head in a crisis and makes sure he and everyone else does their homework.

The stupidest is Alan because Carlos had been cleaning up his messes since school and because he never seemed to realize that there is no such thing as a perfect crime.

Good question, Victoria. I agree with Urban's assessments. For most of the lawyers, they're either book-smart, emotionally smart, or neither.

Blue Lass

I couldn't have said it better!

"Either book-smart, emotionally smart, or neither."

Ricardo is (and Alejandra was) emotionally smart for their clients. The only other lawyer who is even close to being smart both ways is Adrian.

Friday's recap is under construction. Keep the faith.

Order up!
