Por Amar Sin Ley, Season 2 Miercoles 7/24/19 Episode 89: Showdown

Scenes left in order to avoid confusion.

Fernanda hit the truth jackpot when she caught Tatiana with an bald older man in an expensive suit. In other words, a client. She pulled her back and slapped her hard, telling her to stay away from Juan and Susanna. Tatiana demanded to know who she was and she told her that Susanna was her friend and that she loved Juan. “Any further contact with them and you will have to deal with me.” Tatiana tried to laugh at her, shoving her back. Fernanda didn't take that one and shoved her back toward her client, who restrained her as Fernanda called her a mujer suela. Tatiana yelled that Fernanda had no right to insult her and that what happens between herself and Juan was none of her business. Fernanda accused her of going after Juan for his money, followed by Tatiana boasting that she didn't need his money. Of course, Fernanda came back with seeing who she is getting money from.

The man was getting embarrassed as he tried pulling Tatiana back lest this become a full-blown catfight. Tatiana threatened to tell Juan that Fernanda started a fight with her and Fernanda told her to go ahead and do just that. She would tell him what she saw. [She should have taken out her cell and taken a photo before the approach, but Fernanda falters on such forethought.] Tatiana tried to get tough but Fernanda said she was going to tell Juan that very day because she was not going to allow a slut to hurt him. She walked away. Tatiana wanted to follow her but her client held her back and said “Let's go.”

Sofia told Ricardo they had a court date for Benjamín's case. Ricardo wasn't sure he had all the necessary information. He looked at the file she handed him and he said he would talk to Benjamín. She said she would prepare the defence and would help him until the end. [With only two capitulos left I don't like that statement.]

Adrián visited Victoria in her office and said she is more beautiful every day. He told her about the case and said it had a good outcome [Si, if your client's father can afford to pay the $250K fine]. She was pleased. He then presented her with a gift. She hugged him and took it out of the bag; he had bought her favorite perfume. She was pleased, but still holding back. He wanted to take her out but she said she had a lot of work to do. He asked if he could help and she consented. She also wanted to hear the details of the Aguirre case.

Gustavo managed to pull El Chivo into a chair and tie him up. He then began to punch him, each time demanding to know where El Gringo was. Three punches later El Chivo was spitting blood, but still appeared to have all his teeth.

Ricardo visited Benjamín and got the guard to leave them alone. Using the court date as the lure he asked Benjamín the critical question: Who was Dorantes working with? Benjamín said once again that these people were very dangerous. Ricardo told him that the whole firm was behind this. Benjamín leaned back with a self-satisfied grin. When he failed to say anything Ricardo put the papers back in his briefcase. Benjamín then stopped him and said that once he reveals the information the lives of everyone at the firm will be a living hell. Ricardo told him to tell him. Benjamín said he didn't know his real name, but he is known as El Ciego. A narcotrafficante who did “contract work” for Dorantes.

Gustavo told El Chivo he would not be able to leave until he said whom he worked for. He opened a container of accelerant as he spoke. “You [plural] killed my family.” He punched him again. “Let's see if this refreshes your memory.” He started pouring the stuff on El Chivo's lap. El Chivo began to panic. Gustavo didn't stop until he poured all of it out. He stepped back out of the wet area and took matches out of his pocket. “For the last time, where is El Gringo?” He struck the match and it flared in slow motion.

Ricardo asked whether Benjamín knew how to find El Ciego and he said he didn't. As to “Are you sure it's him?” Benjamín replied that Dorantes himself told him. “This is the same one that Carlos Ibarra freed.” “Yes, and handles all his business,” Benjamín replied. Ricardo caught his breath, said he was going to get Sofia, and called for the guard to open the door. Benjamín was escorted back to his cell.

Juan handed a file to Roberto, explaining that Pedro goes free that day. Then Roberto noticed that something was wrong and Juan began explaining that he was in conflict with his mother. Roberto asked what had changed.

Susanna put a statue of Jesus and a lit candle on an altar shelf. Fernanda came in and told her she had confronted Tatiana. Susanna told her this was not necessary but Fernanda thought otherwise. She realized that Tatiana had been putting ideas into Juan's head. She told Susanna “You have to talk to him.” Susanna said she had tried and now it was her turn. Fernanda was reluctant but Susanna told her that she had to because “I'm sure that Juan loves you.”

When Juan asked Roberto whether he had changed, Roberto said he had. However, he gave Juan the same mini-lecture about improvement having nothing to do with material things. He seemed to have convinced Juan that being a great lawyer suitable for advancement isn't about wearing expensive suits or driving a luxury car, it was in the heart which Juan already has. Juan conceded that he was right and asked him about his situation. Roberto explained that it was different because he wasn't raised by his mother.

Fernanda told Susanna that she loved Juan as she remembered him, a person who helped people and fought for their rights. She loved his generous heart. Susanna told her that this had not changed. What had changed was the outer shell under Tatiana's influence. Fernanda wanted Juan to be happy but was sure that Tatiana was not the answer. Susanna repeated “The only woman my son loves is you.” Fernanda was unsure of her ability to convince him to see the truth. Susanna was sure she could. [It would be great if Juan could catch Tatiana in flagrante delicto with the client Fernanda saw.]

Carlos and Nancy were talking about a client meeting when Ricardo charged past the secretary and decked Carlos. He landed several punches when the secretary yelled she was going for security. He backed Carlos against the doorframe in a choke hold, demanding to know where El Ciego was. Carlos choked out that he didn't know. He got free and Ricardo told him that El Ciego was responsible for Alejandra's death. Carlos denied that, saying that it was El Gringo. Ricardo told him that the information came from Ramiro Dorantes and if he didn't tell where El Ciego was Ricardo would see to it that he goes to prison for complicity. El Ciego was hired by Joaquin Dorantes to attack members of the Vega firm. Carlos insisted that it was El Gringo and that he had been investigating. He told Ricardo to leave before security got there. Ricardo said that with or without his help he was going to get El Ciego. Two security men in suits came in to shove him out. Ricardo got them to get their hands off and he left. Nancy asked Carlos if he was alright. He didn't answer. He merely called El Ciego's cell saying “We have to talk.”

Gustavo dragged the bound goat into Quiróz' office, telling him that this thug worked for El Ciego. Quiróz called for a medic and told Gustavo he was taking charge. Gustavo called Ricardo and said he needed to see him in the office.

The others were in the conference room. Carmen told them that Ricardo had insisted on the meeting. Lorena asked about Gustavo, but he entered right on the moment. She noticed the cuts and bruises on his hands and asked what happened. Alonso and Ricardo came in right behind him. Ricardo revealed what Benjamín told him and displayed a photo of El Ciego. Manuel remembered seeing him in the restaurant the night Alejandra was shot.

El Ciego went to Carlos' apartment and Carlos demanded to know what his involvement was with Alejandra's death. El Ciego did his usual sigh and said he told him it was El Gringo. Carlos said that his information was that he was in the employ of Joaquin Dorantes to attack the Vega firm. He finally sort-of confessed that he worked for Dorantes and that his deal with him demanded that he take care of things for him. Carlos then looked him in the eye and demanded to know whether he had been involved in Jaime's kidnapping. El Ciego was offended at the question and would not answer it at first. Finally he lied, saying it was El Gringo who was out to get him(self). He further lied, saying he had nothing to do with Alejandra's death. His manner was not convincing and Carlos looked as though he suspected he was lying.

Ricardo asked Manuel if he was sure. Manuel swore to it. Javier said it wasn't possible; they had no proof that El Ciego was there. He wasn't in the security videos. Lorena asked why he didn't say anything before and Manuel said that he had no idea who El Ciego was; he thought he was just some client. Alonso said he was going to talk to the police and was about to end the meeting. Gustavo spoke up, telling them he had trapped one of the thugs.

El Ciego told Carlos that he had to keep the Vegas off him. Carlos told him that this would not be easy. “Life isn't easy. I pay you because you are the best. I pay you so that you do what you have to so nobody messes with me.” Carlos told him it was too late because he knew about him. El Ciego tried to say that it was El Gato, not himself. He confirmed the law firm name and Carlos recommended that he hide. El Ciego wasn't afraid. He said that if he got into anything “You will have to be there for me.” He left. Carlos looked about twenty years older at that moment.

Gustavo confessed to what happened in the bodega, saying that he was tempted to kill the thug but didn't at the last minute. All his pain came out in this confession, which ended with him saying he turned him in. Alonso said that this was not how Vega solves things, but knew they had to go on from there. He issued the assignments. Victoria, Juan, Adrián, and Roberto were to review the video. Javier was to contact the prosecutor's office for all information on El Ciego. Gustavo, Ricardo, and Sofia were to accompany him to the police station to speak to Quiróz and the thug Gustavo turned in. Manuel and Lorena were to assemble all the evidence. He was confident in all of them.

After the meeting Lorena told Gustavo that she was grateful he was alright. He said that this was close to ending. She kissed him and he left to get ready to go to the police station.

Tatiana left a voicemail for Juan, calling him corazón and begging him to call her.

Roberto led his team into his office. Juan's phone rang as he inserted the flash drive, but Roberto discouraged him from answering it now. They looked at the video but saw nothing of El Ciego. This was the video they had gotten from the police department. Roberto wondered whether it was complete. Adrián said they should go directly to the restaurnt. Roberto also said they had to go to the prosecutor's office. They all filed out.

Lorena and Manuel were putting the papers in order. Manuel remembered seeing him pass him in the restaurant while he was talking on the phone.

Javier went to the prosecutor's office to get information.

El Ciego and several thugs with assault weapons got off the elevator at Vega and began shooting. Manuel and Lorena could hear it in the library. The receptionists ducked behind the high desks, as did Carmen. Several people were shot. One thug grabbed Carmen by the hair and pulled her up. El Ciego aimed his pistol at her head and demanded to know where Alonso was. She said she didn't know and swore to it. El Ciego declared he was going to get all the damned lawyers.

Javier called Nancy, saying that they had been mistaken. The guilty party is El Ciego. She tried to get him to reveal his source of information but he did not. She claimed to know nothing about him but would call him when she found anything out.

El Ciego walked down the corridor and kicked open a door. Finding the office empty he went into the conference room, shot one of the water bottles on the table, and sat in Alonso's chair. He said to himself, “Alonso Vega, I'm going to kill you.” Then he got up and left the conference room.

He and his thug then entered the library and shoved Manuel down to the table, demanding to know where Alonso was. The table was full of documents including photos of him. “Prison photos are always bad,” he said, throwing it aside. Another thug said they had control of the reception area and left. One remained in the library doorway while El Ciego began intimidating Manuel and Lorena. When he demanded to know where their boss was they said he was out on a case. El Ciego threw some of the papers on the floor, then aimed at Lorena. Manuel stood in front of her. El Ciego started laughing. He leaned his head against the bookcase and laughed for a moment, then looked up and again demanded to know where Alonso was. El Cuervo (?) came back, saying he didn't see anyone else. El Ciego shouted in his insane manner that he wanted every lawyer there. He picked up some papers and asked something. When Manuel wouldn't answer he said “This idiot is half deaf” and began roughing him up. When Manuel ended up on the floor El Cuervo was about to pummel him with the butt of his rifle. Lorena screamed and El Ciego thought he could get her to talk. Manuel yelled that she had nothing to do with this and that he was investigating.

El Ciego mocked Manuel's words as he grabbed Lorena's hair and shoved her into the chair. Pointing his pistol at her head he said “I will never understand idiots who try to be heroes.” He left Lorena in the chair and grabbed Manuel by the shirt front. “He's deaf, he's a fool. You're not listening to me.” Then he decked him. He turned around, looked at Lorena, and said “My work is to kill.” He pointed his pistol at her. [There must have been a commercial break inserted here.] She remained silent as El Ciego kicked Manuel in the stomach and chest until he was on his back spitting up blood. El Cuervo kept his rifle aimed at her. El Ciego then looked at her and said “You know what's worse? Passing the whole day like this.” He then aimed his pistol at Manuel. Lorena begged El Ciego not to hurt him. El Ciego said it would be much easier if her friend would talk. He walked over to Lorena, grabbed her jaw for a second, and cocked his pistol again. Manuel said “Alright.” He said that Alonso was with the other lawyers at the prosecutor's office bringing charges against him. [Now Manuel is truly an idiot.] El Cuervo still had his hand on him as he managed to stand. “The rest of the information is in his office.”

How easy was that?” El Ciego mocked. He said they would go to Alonso's office, shoving Lorena ahead of himself and El Cuervo. He kicked Manuel's behind on the way.

Alonso, Sofia, Ricardo, and Gustavo were at the police station. They told Quiróz that they needed to interrogate the thug. Quiróz told them that he was in the infirmary and in no condition for this at the moment. They needed to ask tomorrow. Sofia sarcastically asked whether he would be in shape then and Quiróz replied that he hoped so because he arrived in bad condition. He was not going to file charges against Gustavo but told them they could not take justice in their own hands. Ricardo reminded him of how difficult this situation was. Gustavo angrily brought up the issue of corruption. Quiróz said they were working on it and he wanted to get these criminals just as much as they did.

While being pushed down the corridor at the office Manuel clutched his stomach, then tried to shove El Ciego back. Lorena made a break for it and ran into an office. She grabbed a cell phone and ran for the stairs while Manuel took a few more punches and landed on the floor. El Ciego sent El Cuervo after her, but he was too far behind and could not catch her. She got down one flight despite her stilettos and called the police. El Cuervo went back to his boss and said he didn't see her. El Ciego looked down at Manuel and said “You want to be a hero?” before shooting him.

We have to hope that this isn't going to become a siege. Poor Manuel.

Does this mean he's finally getting a personality...when it may be too late?

Thanks for all the detail -- it made the action easier to follow. I can only imagine how Christopher and Candace are wrinkling their noses with distaste.

Things went from 0 to 100 very quickly in this episode. Hopefully that means tonight and tomorrow will be just as good or better. I don’t know if I’d say the Vega lawyers were lucky that they weren’t there but unfortunately that meant Lorena and Manuel were left vulnerable.

Getting all of the footage from the restaurant would certainly help. Maybe Manuel didn’t see what he thought he saw. Who knows.

I do think Juan might have to see with his own eyes what Tatiana is doing but hopefully that’ll change Fer’s opinion of Juan and his actions.

Loved loved El Ciego...comical and deadly! When he sat in conference table.lol. Great actor . Have a feeling it’s going to end in a cliff hanger...only some issues will be resolved.Lucia leave now, after fooling Robert.? Tatiana gets her anvil? Nancy and. Carlos? Will we see a wedding? So many loose ends........

Thanks, Urban. I love all the different justice photos. So much happened that I think the Uni scissors are afoot. Loved your line about Carlos aging 20 years.

Poor lovesick Manuel. I hope he survives.

Time for the tampering of the video to be discovered. I want to see Javier realize he's been duped by Nancy.

El Ciego is truly drunk with power.

I'm shocked Tat's turning tricks. I guess Juan is her retirement plan

Not much of this series is missing; about the equivalent of one episode altogether.

Niecie, I nominate your latest comment about Tatiana for a sidebar quote. I completely agree with it.

Urban

Thank you again (and all the PASL recappers) for another enthralling recap that captured the true feeling of Gustavo's beat down of El Chavo, and his corresponding pent-up anger, and the panic the Vega firm (Carmen was a trooper, holding it together, as always) must have been feeling when El Ciego and his crew came barrelling through the elevator doors with guns blazing. What no building security downstairs for a highrise?

At least Lorena showed some street smarts and bravery in grabbing the cell phone and dashing for it. But really, I see women running and dancing in stillettos and, being a construction boot-type girl, I have no clue how they do it.

Oh, how I wish I could still wear stilettos...
