Okay..how do you think Charly will get punished for his crimes and arrogance?..or how would you like his punishment to unfold?
Diana responded Speculation only. I don't think Charly will survive. I'm still thinking Monchis might be alive and if he doesn't get him - Don Belt will.
Having him survive would be too "messy" once it's revealed Erick is his son. I predict a heart wrenching deathbed apology to Erick.
Charly won't end up alone and penniless because in spite of everything Erick wouldn't let that happen. I would prefer that but...
I hope he doesn't bring Axel (or anyone else) down with him.
Diana, you may be right--Don Buckle might just do away with Charly, but I hope not. Since Charly is so vain and selfish, I would like to see him in a most humiliating position...discredited, penniless, and alone. Yameli's goal is to see him in jail; and I think that is where he needs to be...scrubbing toilets with a toothbrush.
Susanlynn, one of my favorite anvils was on Manana Es Para Siempre. Barbara tried to burn herself to get her daughter's sympathy which backfired (pun intended) on her and she remained in jail disfigured and alone. Aurora, her daughter, came to visit her only to tell her that she never wanted to have anything to do with her. A similar ending for Charly would satisfy me.
Have great day..and stay cool if you're in a "HOT" zone!
I am painting right now, and I found a great site for 74 self care suggestions. I think telenovelas and caraycaray call under my see if care routine. #loveboldandbloom
I think that Yami and juanjo are going to be together at the end and that they will be great parents to Stick , who has already bonded with Juanjo. No wonder that Erick is becoming close to juanjo , who was a father figure to his younger siblings as a teenager. Before meeting Juanjo, awful Monchis and vain Charly were the male figures in his life except for his good guy friend Serge who tried to support and protect him. We all need a friend like Serge. I don't know if Erick will end up with Fast Irma , but I think that Serve will indeed be with Vanessa. He will be good for her, and he will become part of Ericks expanding family.
Good morning Rgv Chick and Susanlynn!
I am not sure that Charly will make it to the end, but totally agree that penniless and in prison would work well. I love your vision of Charly scrubbing toilets with his toothbrush no less, Rgv Chick! And Yameli should have justice.
Being totally alone in the end may be fitting for many loathsome characters, I just can't see Lidia or Erick turning their backs on Charly. I say that now, but this is far from over.
As horrible as Lucero's character Barbara in Manana was, the ending was upsetting to watch. I think we had a spirited discussion on the severity of her fate and believe Urban might have done a recap asking if women villains had harsher punishment than men. This certainly moved the needle in that direction. That said, when Danilo, a monster (played by the marvelous Alberto Estrella) lit up like a torch at the end of La Malquerida, I was also disquieted. I think it's the grisly I find it hard to watch.
As terrible as Angelique Boyer's character in Teresa was, when she was shunned by her family, that also bothered me. I've always felt that prison is one thing but to be totally alone is another. I concede some deserve it but to me seems a fate as bad as death.
Susanlynn, I liked your noting Juanjo was a wonderful parent to his sibs and will be to Erick too. And yes, Serge is a wonderful friend.
So happy the show is back on tonight...Stay cool all!
Diana
Like some of yoh, I think that even though Erick seems mesmerized by the lovely Irma , she may be too worldly for him . Alex would be a better match and his reward for abuse by Charly all these years.
I really hope that we never see Monchis's scary, nasty , angry face again.
Oh my - I don't want to see Monchis either. But IF (and a big if) he does reappear, we can watch from the safety of our living room. :)
"Alex would be a better match and his reward for abuse by Charly all these years". Yes, very well said.
Diana
Ep 49: Part 1 A Glimmer of Hope for Mother and Son
Axel takes Charly the signed budget sheets; Charly was right…Diana signed without even looking at them. Charly comments that it is to their benefit that Diana is so careless…he has more that enough of her autographs to send her to the can. Axel can’t believe Charly would send his daughter’s mother to jail. Charly warns him not to be defending Diana…and reminds him whom he works for.
Diana is in her office showing Yameli the photos Restrepo sent her. She can’t believe that Charly is mixed up with Toño, but she isn’t surprised since Charly was close to his uncle. When Yameli remarks that Diana can’t allow this to affect Luxor, Diana wants to go talk to Charly, but Yameli tells her that they need to gather more information and facts so that she can have more to face him with.
Serg is with Vanessa at Lidia’s apartment. Serg talks her into getting a restraining order against Ruko…he can hurt her. She needs to do it today.
Erick is with Irma. They have just finished playing their game of basketball, yet they look refreshed…with no signs of perspiration and their hair is perfectly in place. Since they don’t want to have any secrets between them, Irma confides in Erick that she heard Yameli telling Juanjo that Charly wanted to steal her from him. Erick thinks it’s odd…but he is running late and needs to go see Juanjo.
Restrepo is driving into the Luxor garage when Yameli calls him and tells him that he needs to find out what Charly and Toño are up to…and she needs it today! Charly walks into the garage and notices Restrepo’s car, but is accosted by a group of young fans.
Mora takes all the accounting books to Diana who tells him that she needs to revise them because they will be having an audit. When Mora asks if Charly knows about it, Diana reminds him that she is also an owner of Luxor; and she doesn’t need anyone’s permission. After he leaves, she looks carefully at the reports.
Erick is with Juanjo and tells him that Irma signed with Charly. When Juanjos tells him that he already knows, Erick points out that it’s strange that Yameli gives him information about Luxor…it seems like she wants to trip up Charly. Juanjo assures him that they don’t work like that and reminds Erick of the problem with the microphone. He explains that Yameli didn’t think it was right that Irma went to Charly and didn’t bother to tell him…Erick was there when Irma denied having any other offers. Juanjo doesn’t understand why Erick is so bothered that Irma has gone with Charly; so Erick explains that he would have preferred that Irma work with them…it will be very difficult to set up events together with Irma since Juanjo and Charly don’t get along. Juanjo counters that if Erick is meant to be with Irma, then they will end up together, but Erick worries that the same thing will happen to them as happened to Juanjo and Charlie. Juanjo grabs the photo and argues that, “What happened between Charly, Yameli and me was very different.” Erick turns pensive and asks, “Yameli?...Her name was Yameli?” He stutters nervously as he asks for her last name. When Juanjo replies, “Montoya,” Erick recalls the caller who told him his mother’s name and the other info he got about the Montoya’s being killed. Erick then tells Juanjo that when he was looking for his parents, the only thing he found out was that his mother’s name was Yameli Montoya…and she died. Juanjo is dumbfounded as Erick asks to see the photo and states that he has spent all his life looking for his mother. As Erick stares at the photo, Juanjo recalls how Charly told him about having had relations with Yameli when they were at the airport…and Yameli telling him how Charly used her. He asks Erick what he knows about his father, but Erick knows nothing. After Juanjo confirms that Yameli died in the USA, Erick takes a photo of his mother.
Ep 49: Part 2 A Glimmer of Hope for Mother and Son
Mora is a restaurant with his wife and tells her that Diana is looking closely at the books; and she will probably find all the discrepancies. Wife had warned him about getting too involved with the studio, but Mora had no choice…Charly is his boss, not Diana. He tries to justify moving monies around…all companies do it. If someone finds out, the worst they can do is fine the company. Wife worries that Diana might change her mind and turn in Charly. Mora, however, thinks Charly will cover for him (FOOL!!) and report that he was only doing as ordered.
Charly and Axel are trying to decide what to have for lunch when Diana storms in and slams the accounting books on Charly’s desk. After she orders Axel out, she confronts Charly about inflating the numbers…he is laundering money. “Do you think I’m stupid?” she asks. Charly smirks and replies, “Yes, Yes I think you are stupid...well, more than me because I do look at the things I sign.” Diana questions if he would really do that to her. Charly smugly leans back in his chair and points out that her attitude lately hasn’t been the best. She started this war and this is how it ends. When Diana argues that people know she isn’t a crook and that they all know he is a bad person who hangs out in bad places, Charly looks at the books and reads her name page after page. Diana can’t believe she was married to someone like him; and Charly is doing this to protect himself from people like her. Diana yells that this is serious and she could go to prison…and if she goes, he will go too. Charly retorts that the only one going to prison will be her…that’s what she gets for shouting that the company is hers every chance she gets. He will say that she wanted to company all to herself so she could launder money…and he will be considered the victim. He warns her to keep quiet or people will start talking; and her daughter will not only think of her as a drug addict, but also as a criminal. He suggests that she keep quiet…and sell him her part of Luxor.
Meanwhile, Juanjo stares at the photo of Yameli, Charly and him. He calls Yameli, but as Yameli’s phone rings, Yameli sees that Diana is very upset; so she ignores the call and takes Diana to lunch so that they can talk. Juanjo rushes out to go look for Yameli.
Wendy is in her bathroom. She is about to take her contraceptive, but opts to throw it into the toilet.
Serg and Vanesa leave the police station where they have filed for the restraining order. Vanessa never thought her relationship with Rujo would end this way…she thought it would be forever. As they walk away, Ruko stalks them.
Erick is back with Irma and shows her the photo he took. As he smiles and admires Yameli, he tells Irma that all indications are that Yameli is his mother…and the best part is that Juanjo told him that his mother composed music and sang…and she did it very well; his only regret is that he will never get to know her. Irma assures him that his mother is smiling down upon him and must be very proud of him…he got his talent from her.
Ep 49: Part 3 A Glimmer of Hope for Mother and Son
Yamlei and Diana are at a restaurant. Diana is gulfing down drinks like there is no tomorrow. She tells Yameli that Charly is laundering money and that she will be the one going to prison since she signed all the reports…unless she gives Charly her part of Luxor. Yameli urges her that she can’t do that. She then suggests that Diana record Charly…she needs to get Charly to admit everything he has done and they can use that as evidence against him.
Charly is in his office having his own drink, but he drinks in celebration as he tells Caro that Diana will be selling him her part of Luxor. “How did you manage that?” she asks; “I have hmy ways,” he responds with a smirk. All Caro needs to know is that Diana will be doing anything he asks….he’s got the pan by the handle (tengo el sartén por el mango). As she starts to leave, Charly starts playing with her bra strap…he needs her to do something for him…and they kiss…
Outside Luxor, Juanjo arrives, but is stopped by Charly who is accompanied by Caro and two men who look like henchies in penguin suits. Juanjo needs to talk to Yameli and some money they owe him for the concert. Charly tells him Yameli is not there and no one told him about money owed to him. When Juanjo insists on talking to Yameli and Diana, Charly tells him that anything he has to say, he can say to his lawyer. Juanjo reiterates that he will only talk to those he made the agreement with, but Charly accuses him of wanting to enter his building only to spy on him. Juanjo snickers and wonders why he would want to spy on a company that is going broke. Charly then tells Vincent (one of the security guards) that he is not to let this man into the building…ever! After Juanjo leaves, Charly tells Caro that they should get going, but Caro is not in the mood to put up with his moods.
Erick and Irma are with Serg and Vanesa who have told Erick that two guys tried to rob Serg’s merchandise. Erick worries that it could happen again, but Serg assures him that he will be fine. As they talk and laugh, Ruko leers from a distance. Serg wants to make a video to promote sales; and Erick suggests that they can come up with a jingle. Irma quickly composes a jingle and everyone joins in and dances as Ruko seethes with anger.
Axel and Charly are on their way to lunch when Charly tells Axel that Diana found out about the inflated costs…but not to worry, all is well because Diana will be selling him her portion of the studio. Axel knows Charly must have threatened her, but Charly assures him that he just made things clear in a very nice way.
Yameli takes Diana home since she is so drunk that she can hardly walk. Diana shares that she has never had a friend like Yameli….nor any female friends…because of Charly’s wandering eyes…and other body parts. She then makes Yameli promise that she will never betray her.
At the port, Serg is making his video. Erick leads as he sings the jingle about Serg’s Mobil Bling. Afterwards, Serg invites Vanesa out to eat, but before they leave, Serg needs to move his cart…as a furious Ruko glares.
Ep 49: Part 4 A Glimmer of Hope for Mother and Son
Charly and Axel get back to Luxor. Charly notices Restrepo’s car and tells Axel that he has noticed the car before. Charly wants to take a pic of the license plates, but Restrepo leaves before Charly can get his phone. Charly hopes it was just a fan. Once inside, Charly tries to call Yameli and hears her phone in an office. He tries to access the phone, but can’t figure out the passcode.
Serg is walking down a street alone when Ruko comes up from behind him and stabs him. He steals his wallet to make it look like a robbery. Vanessa is with Erick and Irma walking toward Serg’s house. As they wonder why Serg is taking so long, they suddenly see a crowd and run to see Serg on the ground. An ambulance quickly arrives and takes him to the hospital.
Yameli arrives home to find Juanjo waiting for her. She can’t wait to tell him about Diana, but Juanjo has something more important to tell her. Once inside, Juanjo asks Yameli to sit down. He reminds Yameli that Erick is adopted and has been looking for his parents for many years. Juanjo is not 100% sure, but a very specific piece of information has been revealed…the name of his mother….Yameli Montoya; it’s the only solid piece of information Erick has about his mother. Yameli is stunned and speechless as her eyes get misty. Juanjo points out that Erick is the same age as the baby Yameli lost. Shaken, Yameli cries that her baby is dead,…he died in the fire with her grandmother. Juanjo knows that there are probably many Yameli Montoyas in the world, but there are too many coincidences…her son might be alive; and it could be Erick. Just then Charly knocks on the door; he has brought her phone since she left it at work. He insists for a while, but Yameli and Juanjo sit quietly until he leaves. Yameli asks Juanjo where he got the information. Juanjo repeats that it is just one piece of information; they need to confirm if it is true and they shouldn’t get ahead of themselves. Yameli cries that she can’t allow herself to hope again…she can’t lose her son twice. After Juanjo repeats that they shouldn’t jump the gun, Yameli wonders, “And if my son is still alive?” Juanjo assures her that, whatever happens, he will be there for her; he holds her close as he assures her that all will be well.
PIVOTAL episode...and such outstanding performances by Polo and Michelle...WOW!! I had goose bumps along with my tears. Can't wait to hear what you all have to say about it.
Have a wonderful week-end!! Stay cool and hydrated!
Susanlynn: I agree with you that it's looking more & more likely Yameli & Juanjo end up together in the end.
Big question is whether Juanjo divorces Wendy ?
Good morning Rgv Chick. Goosebumps is right! I wanted to scream Go get a DNA test right now! And immediately wondered if knowing her son is alive and well might put an end to Yameli's toxic plan of vengeance. Perhaps this will allow her to let go and live her life in the present rather than the past. Because oh my! if she tells Erick Charley is his father, how can she defend her plan to destroy Erick's dad, wretched though he is.
Strangely enough though, what haunted me last night, after watching the episode, was the daily humiliation of Axel. The scene where Charley just casually rested his foot on Axel's leg while talking, and then dismissed Axel's concern about Diana as trivial...Who's the boss here? Who's YOUR boss? And then Diana's equally rude dismissal of Axel when she wanted to talk to Charley. For some reason, Axel's quiet, "Hey, ask me nicely, okay." just touched my heart. Other than an inveterate party boy with the ladies, he seems like a basically nice, loyal guy that gets used and dissed by others.
Now Wicked Lady, you made me laugh with this line:
"Diana shares that she has never had a friend like Yameli….nor any female friends…because of Charly’s wandering eyes…and other body parts."
Ah yes, those body parts have ranged far and wide evidently. But it's going to be very hard to bring out the truth that one result of those journeys is his alleged half-brother Erick. What a bombshell that's going to be.
Thanks Rgv Chick. An often ugly tale always beautifully re-told. And little nuggets of humor scattered in with all the drama. Bien hecho. Also loved "tengo el sartén por el mango". That was one of the first dichos I learned with telenovelas. Emilia, a commenter, then took it up with her theme of bashing the heads of telenovela villains with an iron frypan when needed. Methinks our Charlie is about to meet up with one big frypan. But at the hands of whom? Lots of candidates.
Rgv Chick, your finest masterpiece to date.
We were caught off guard, unprepared for this storm of epic proportions. Yet you expertly guided us as it unexpectedly raged. Every thought, emotion and action was beautifully and carefully expressed. Utterly engrossing and enchanting.
This show continues to impress. Far from formulatic, there are waves of shock and surprise that delight and deflate.
Rather than a highly dramatic and raging reveal, Yameli learns the truth quietly from her lifelong friend. The truth can barely be borne. “Yameli cries that she can’t allow herself to hope again…she can’t lose her son twice”. The acting seemed all too real. And all too devastating.
“he’s got the pan by the handle (tengo el sartén por el mango)” and “Caro is not in the mood to put up with his moods” were excellent.
“Charly retorts that the only one going to prison will be her…that’s what she gets for shouting that the company is hers every chance she gets”. It was hard to fathom that Charly was able to outfox the far more intelligent Diana and reduce her to desperation by threatening to turn Van against her. I’ve always felt that street smarts were more than a match for true brilliance, simply because of the cunning that is always a part of the equation.
“Diana shares that she has never had a friend like Yameli….nor any female friends…because of Charly’s wandering eyes…and other body parts”. As Diana tried to get Yameli to pinky swear to her loyalty, I grimaced for many reasons.
“They have just finished playing their game of basketball, yet they look refreshed…with no signs of perspiration and their hair is perfectly in place”. Ahh, the joys of fitness and youth. OR the reality that not an ounce of exertion occurred.
"Irma assures him that his mother is smiling down upon him and must be very proud of him…he got his talent from her”. So true.
And Serg…perhaps this was one scenario that did not shock. Will he survive? Ruko’s face was frightening and repulsive in its hate and determination.
Just getting ready to post this when I saw and read your insightful comment Judy. As usual, we shared many of the same thoughts and loved the same lines. "the daily humiliation of Axel" resonated strongly. "A basically nice, loyal guy that gets used and dissed by others" is true. He seems to have never caught a break. We've seen talent but it was buried when he became Charly's whipping boy. Of course the wonderful Pierre Louis always shines. He deserves a happy ending here and a galan role soon.
And Juanjo's quiet support and caring demeanor shone. The actor is one of many here but his quietness spoke volumes last night. I am afraid Wendy's missed pill is going to be another storyline that will derail Juanjo and Yameli. Yet again.
So much more to talk about but I will end with admiration and thanks to a story that could not have been narrated more perfectly.
Thank you, thank you Rgv Chick...
Dian
"And immediately wondered if knowing her son is alive and well might put an end to Yameli's toxic plan of vengeance" has been replaying in my mind Judy.
Your poignant comment has me ruminating as to whether love will be ultimate weapon. The sentiment that she/he is the mother/father of my child is often expressed. And for most, it has tremendous value and despite that couples often end up loathing each other, they try to retain civility for the sake of the child.
Right now, Yameli seems to be the key to keeping Diana out of jail. She has a moral responsibility to protect Diana as she did nothing wrong. The guilt is Charlys and he does deserve jail. Will she tone down her rhetoric and want justice simply for its own sake?
I have absolutely no idea! Expect the unexpected but realize anything may be possible :)
Diana
Thank you, Rgv Chick. Pivotal episode indeed.
I liked how Eric focused only on the good parts of finding more information about his mother. How pretty she was, that she was a composer and the heart of Soul & Bass group. Nothing negative, like abandoning him, being in jail.
Very emotional moment seeing Yamelí getting the news. Good that it was Juanjo who told her and in the comfort of her home. I am looking forward to seeing how she is going to approach Eric and how this will change her.
"Diana can’t believe she was married to someone like him" - I am sure the signs were always there, she just didn't want to see them.
"Wendy is in her bathroom. She is about to take her contraceptive, but opts to throw it into the toilet." - has she considered what it would be like to raise a child as a divorced mother?
JudyB, "...immediately wondered if knowing her son is alive and well might put an end to Yameli's toxic plan of vengeance. Perhaps this will allow her to let go and live her life in the present rather than the past. Because oh my! if she tells Erick Charley is his father, how can she defend her plan to destroy Erick's dad, wretched though he is." This has always been in my thoughts...how will Erick react to knowing that his mother is responsible for the destruction of the what he has known as "family." She is basically doing what Monchis did to her family. My hope is that Yameli will soften and make Erick's happiness her priority...over her desire for vengeance. Once she realizes that she is no longer the sole survivor of her family, she will have to rethink her plan and how she can move forward with the least damage to her son.
Judy, I'm so glad you mentioned Axel. "For some reason, Axel's quiet, "Hey, ask me nicely, okay." just touched my heart. Other than an inveterate party boy with the ladies, he seems like a basically nice, loyal guy that gets used and dissed by others." This expressed my sentiments and thoughts perfectly. I still wonder what made him change from the assertive, confident young man we saw at the beginning of the story.
Diana, "We were caught off guard, unprepared for this storm of epic proportions." Just when I thought I was getting over one shock, there was another...and another...and another...just like an earthquake with several aftershocks of equal proportion.
"Rather than a highly dramatic and raging reveal, Yameli learns the truth quietly from her lifelong friend. The truth can barely be borne. “Yameli cries that she can’t allow herself to hope again…she can’t lose her son twice”. The acting seemed all too real. And all too devastating." Diana, I wish I had your flair with words...beautifully stated. I too was so glad Juanjo was the one who revealed the possibility of Erick being Yameli's son. No one else could have done it with so much compassion and empathy. All the actors were absolutely convincing in their surprise and awareness that they had found their lost loved one.
Lucio, "Eric focused only on the good parts of finding more information about his mother. How pretty she was, that she was a composer and the heart of Soul & Bass group. Nothing negative, like abandoning him, being in jail." Well stated and noted. Despite thinking that his mother is dead and knowing bits of the violent family history, Erick's reaction was one of admiration and delight.
I wasn't surprised that Ruko attacked Serg, but never expected it to be that vicious. I hopeo Vanessa realizes that it was Ruko's doing and that she is in imminent danger also. That restraining order won't save her from the likes of someone like Ruko.
Thank you, again, my patiomates. What a joy it is to share this story with you.
I also enjoyed all the comments from the patio. . Okay...I am going to join my family for the After dinner firepit on the actual patio .
RGV chick, thanks for such a detailed recap. I did watch, but enjoyed going over it again through your words. As soon as Ruko pulled the hood over his head, I knew he was going to do something evil. Glad the others found Sergio in time to get help for him.
I've really enjoyed Axel in this RN, and seeing Pierre Louis on screen. He was so sweet as the novio of the blind younger sister in La Gata. He won a little chunk of my heart and I like to follow him.
What a piece of big news for Yameli--that Erick could be her son! If she learns the truth, she will have to re-think everything about her life. I liked the way JuanJo broke the news to her and her poignant tears.
You are very welcome, Susanlynn and Paloma. More than anything, I enjoy the comments made by the Patio.
Susanlynn, you missed one heck of an episode, but I'm glad you didn't see the stabbing; it was vicious and Ruko looked like the devil himself--all he needed was the red eyes and pointed tail. "After dinner firepit" sounds so soothing; enjoy your evening and your family.
La Paloma, the timing on these TNs is hard to gage. When the stabbing happened, no one seemed to be around. He was very lucky to still be alive; I hopeo he pulls through.
I've only seen Pierre Louis in one other TN (Enamorandome de Ramon) and he was sweet and humble in that TN. Great actor! I laugh every time I Google the cast for this TN; have you ever done that? Check out whose pic comes out for Pierre Louis--it's some French actor (by the same name) who died in 1987!
