Any volunteers for a recap? I have book club tonight. Reina is must-see TV so I'll definitely be watching when I get back. If there are no volunteers, I might be able to put up a few bare-bones sentences.

La Reina del Sur 2 - Jueves

I wasn't kidding about a few lines.

Sofía disinfects Lupo's back and takes out the bullet with her fingers. She then sews up the wound. She sees that he's changed his tattoo: Nothing Here but Sofía.

We see Faustino processed and put in a cell. On his way there all the other prisoners cheer him.

Epifanio turns on Alejandro, wondering why Teresa isn't already gone from Mexico. He tries to wiggle out of it by saying Teresa is lying to get even.

Lupo gives Sofía a phone (not the one he uses to be Francesco) and she calls her mother. But she's evasive about her whereabouts. Teresa knows she's hiding something.

Sofía tells the pharmacist a great story, that was better because of her fear for Lupo. She gets the antibiotics.

She's looking hungrily at some cookies and sees Kira's reflection in the glass across the street.

Jonathan calls Sergio to tell him that Manuela is hurt in Mexico.

Sofía gets away from Kira and runs into a police station. Kira first tries to say she's her mother, but ends up shooting about 6 policemen. Sofía, however, has gotten away.

Sofía injects Lupo with, I assume, an antibiotic. She says she won't leave him until he'd better.

Jonathan locates Kira when Sergio calls her.

Teresa and her gang search the streets of Culiacán all night.

Sofía and Lupo sleep. But in the morning Sofía goes out for food. When she tries to feed Tozzi, he's gone. Sofía runs out to look for the cat, and Viewerville holds its breath.

At the wheel of an SUV, Teresa almost hits a cat. She remembers the cat missing poster outside the place where they kept Sofía for so long. Teresa says Sofía had a cat just like that in Italy.

Sofía runs right up to the front of the SUV after the car. Teresa sees her. Sofía runs to her mother, and they embrace.

reina-sur2

Wow, novelera, what a marvellous recap! It's very short, but amazingly complete!

I can only add some small details. For example, when Sofia goes into the pharmacy to get a much-needed antibiotic for Lupo, the pharmacist tells her she needs to have a prescription. Sofia does her thing: she starts to cry and tells the pharmacist that her mother hurt herself with a large sharp knife and almost bled to death. Sofia shows her the blood on her hands and clothing to convince her of the truth of what she's saying. Sofia then says she's afraid the wound could become infected, her mother will die, and she'll be left all alone. Yup, it works. The pharmacist gives her the antibiotic and instructions.

Also, when Sofia gives Lupo an injection of the antibiotic, he asks her whether her mother had instructed her on how to give injections. "Yes," says Sofia, "I practiced on oranges."

When Epifanio complains that he's been trying to reach Lupo but there's no answer, Alejandro suggests that perhaps Teresa killed Lupo. To his credit, Epi doesn't buy this. He just wants to get Sofia back to Teresa and have the two of them leave the country. I suspect that Alejandro will try to convince Epi that the only satisfactory solution is to kill both Teresa and her daughter.

I was astonished and deeply moved when Sofia sees that Lupo's tattoo over his heart now says "Nobody here but Sofia."

Lupo really has to work to persuade Sofia to call her mother. He tells her "If you really love me, call her. Do it for me." And she does. Ray, of course, is trying to trace the call, but with 10 seconds to go before he succeeds, Sofia hangs up.

Sheila goes to see Batman in part to find out whether he has any information about Sofia's whereabouts. He comes to the door and is not pleased that she has come unannounced. He's bleeding from a wound in his arm, which he claims came about when he tried to collect some money that was owed. He also tells her the less she knows, the better. Sheila wants to take him to a hospital, but he says no, the doctor is on his way, and she should leave. The doctor arrives (is he a doctor, or is he really one of Batman's cronies? He looked vaguely familiar) and Batman gets Sheila to leave.

Interestingly, when Teresa expresses her sympathy to Rocio about Faustino's arrest, Rocio is pretty calm. She says she knew it was bound to happen. She had no illusions about what he did for a living.

Cayetana makes a short smug appearance in the episode. She tells Teresa that if she hadn't killed Teo, none of this would have happened. Teresa replies that if Teo were alive, she (Teresa) would be in prison and Teo would be holding Sofia as a hostage. Cayetana also warns Teresa that she can't escape her past, and that eventually she'll realize this and hand Sofia over to Cayetana willingly. Arrgh.

Wow, Manuela was certainly in Wonder Woman mode in the scene in the police station. She singlehandedly (and footedly, since she placed some expert kicks) defeated and probably killed half a dozen armed policemen.

I was quite surprised when Teresa and Sofia were reunited at the end of the episode. I expected that the search would take several more episodes. Of course, with Manuela on the loose, all is definitely not well.

novelera, that is one stellar recap! Everything was there. Thank you!

Juanita, thanks for the additional details. I was happy that Rocío seemed to have come to terms with her Godoy situation. I also agree that Alejandro will try to poison Epifanio’s mind against Teresa.

That was pretty cool when Sofía catches Manuela’s reflection in the window at the bakery.

It was so sweet that Sofía called Lupo “papa” when she was half asleep.

Godoy’s reception at the jail by his fellow inmates was heartwarming for him at least. Colorful expression that he used to describe the situation: se le salieron las dos ruedas de la bicicleta. Always nice to find a new way of saying it all went to hell.

So nice that Sofía was genuinely happy to see her mother.

All I have to add is that Sheila tells Teresa that she made a promise to St. Rita (Saint of the Impossible) and that she hadn’t failed her yet.

Reina 2
I can do a recap tonight. Getting down to the wire with only a few episodes left! I have to still watch Thurs night so I’m covering my eyes from the recap above. So sad Oleg died! I missed what happened to Anton! There was a lot of killing Wed night, did he go down? Anyway, I was a little disappointed they only had one guy (Oleg) protecting Teresa at the hotel.
And whose team killed all of Zurdo’s men outside the hotel? Was it the military?
That group of Zurdo’s men reminded me of The Village People — a construction worker, a businessman, a skater. Those were costumes not disguises!

REINA

blockhead, yes, it was the military who took Zurdo’s forces down at the hotel.

reina-sur2

Thank you, novelera, Juanita.

A lot of Sofia this episode. Yay! Those are the best scenes. She certainly rose to the challenge of the situation. Lupo and Sofia have bonded so much. In her dream she said: "Don't abandon me again, papá."

Reina 2
The guys who found Zurdo mentioned taking him to Dona Macarena instead of the hospital. Never saw Dona Macarena I bet she would have been a hoot!

La Reina 2

thanks novelera, above and beyond, you are a real trooper!

and nice color you tacked on Juanita!

nice details Jarifa!

yep Blockhead, where is Anton? (maybe he is in charge of Cayetana), and what is Carmen up to?

there were some comments the day before about Lupo's conversation with Manuela after he was shot about asking for help, I kind of took this all as Lupo doing everything he could to hold Manuela there to give Sofia a chance to escape.

I don't know about extracting bullets with your finger but at least they remembered the traditional metal pan to drop the bullet in, .

interesting to watch Alex's head spin after discovering his orders to kill Teresa and Sofia went south (hmm, he hasn't called Manuela yet) so Epi sends him to Sinaloa to handle the problem, but wait, Epi is going to to handle it personally, this should be interesting.

odd, the lack of people in Culiacan, the streets and buildings are almost always empty.

so the doc shows up at Batman's and asked who the patient is, what? waiting to hear how Batman got shot while all the other action was going on.

Paola Nuñez (Manuela) our sweetheart from "Reina de corazones" has really nailed this unique/different character, her haircut still throws me.

so Teresa splits the group with the "millennials" in one car.

Loving Sofia! and Tozzi contributes yet again!

reina-sur2

Thanks for the kind remarks! There was so much more I wanted to say, but it was late by the time I finished watching yet another thrilling episode.

And thanks to Juanita, Jarifa, Lucio and deb for the additional, excellent details.

Blockhead, I look forward to one of your excellent recaps tonight, although I probably won't get it read until Saturday afternoon, CA time.

Deb, I agree that Paola Nuñez is excellent as Kira! I was shocked that she cut off all that long hair she had in Reina. I was wondering why we hadn't seen her in a while, but IMBD tells me she's been in a USA production called The Son. I tried to read the book this was taken from, and gave up on the horrible violence. So there was no way I'd watch the TV show.

Juanita, Batman must surely have been somehow involved in the Zurdo roundup. I didn't believe the gambling debt story for a minute.

Lupo and Sofía in that warehouse were so touching that my eyes were welling up. I have a strong suspicion that, having Tozzi back, Sofía is not going to mention Lupo having helped her at all.

Ah, yes, I love to see Alejandro thwarted. The smug smirk vanishes, at least for a while!

I'm still SO curious about why the DEA and POTUS are helping what seems to me to be a rogue operation. Surely US agents are not allowed to gun down Mexican police officers with impunity.

I also wanted to comment on the decision by writers? directors? producers? to use classical music in some of their scenes, with no dialog. I'm far from an expert and, when I do recognize a piece of music, it drives me crazy that I can't come up with the composer. Last night the music was during Faustino's ride in a military vehicle to the jail, during the fingerprinting, mug shots, and up to his being put in the cell. It only stopped for his remark to the guy in the next cell. Thanks, Jarifa, for putting that in.

They also used classical music for the shoot out at the place where Teresa was briefly abducted after the big meeting to set up the European drug deal.

Reina-sur-2

Thanks, Novelera and Juanita. I feel totally recap fulfilled. I also appreciate everybody's comments.

Rocio has inherited some of her abuela's sharp tongue. I know she's sad about Faustino, but she says "well, it's not like he sold candy" (caramelos).

I'll skip when Lupo found the time to upgrade his tattoo, but I guess he really never expects to see Teresa again since he's got Sofia on his chest.

Manuela was high strung before, but now she's descended into madness.

Reina

I miss episodes a couple nights a week, so maybe this has already come up, but...Does Batman know who Sheila is? That she's one of Teresa's friends? Because I'd really like them to stick together at the end. Faustino is adorable, for a drug dealer, but he can go. Rocio should have better. And why is anyone still talking to Cayetana? She's such a jerk that they should tape her mouth and only speak through her lakey whose name a suddenly can't remember but who is still kind to the girls and even to Sofia. I hope she survives this.

Kelly

Reina

Kelly, Batman does know that Sheila is Teresa's friend and that she was coming on to him to find out where they had Sofia stashed. I do think the two have come to appreciate each other though.

Reina del Sur 2 Friday recap Part 1
Sofia and Teresa marvel at having found each other and Teresa introduces Sofia to the crew. Sofia hesitates and remembers what Batman and Morgana told her about Teresa killing Teo and what Lupo told her about everything having an explanation. Sofia falls quiet and Teresa asks her why she didn't call back to tell her where she was. Sofia says she was afraid Manuela(that woman) would find her. Teresa asks about the phone Sofia called from. Where did she get it? Sofia repeats the lie that she simply found it. Teresa points out that she got the call about the death threat from a blocked phone too. Teresa asks her what is going on. Sofia starts crying, and asks her why she killed Teo. She says she talked to Cayetana but wants an explanation from Teresa. Sheila says they need to leave.
Sofia agrees but says she needs to get Tozzi. She wants to go alone and Teresa says that she can't do that after all they've gone through. Sofia lies (again) that Tozzi is afraid of strangers. Teresa finally relents and Sofia runs in. Teresa is suspicious and tells the crew she knows Sofia is lying. Inside, Sofia tells Lupo Teresa is outside. Teresa's instinct kicks in and she thinks the kidnapper is inside and goes to get her gun! The crew all protest but they get ready to flee.
The Millenials are at a gas station and Ray asks Paloma if she wants to go back, it's been a long night. She snaps at him that she's pregnant, not sick. And she wants to help. Plus she's feeling a bit hollow that things are coming to an end and she still doesn't know what her future plans are. Precisely what Ray wanted to talk about... Ray tells her he likes her a lot but likes another girl too. He claims he has no control over this situation. Paloma says that when someone is truly in love they stop acting like a gilipollas. Ray gets a phone call from Jimena and Paloma tells him to just answer it, at least that girl isn't carrying another man's child. Rocio appears with coffee and breakfast, and she sees their faces and asks what's up.
Teresa marches into the warehouse after Sofia. Sofia gives Lupo a hug goodbye as Teresa comes in and peeks around the corner. Francesco? She thought he was in Italy. Sofia pleads with her to be careful with the gun. She wants to know how long she's been with him. Sofia starts to answer but Teresa says she wants him to explain. Lupo tells Sofia to leave them alone. Sofia begs her to be careful and not to kill LUPO. Teresa hears that name and flashes back to when she heard that name before. She remembers seeing the name in Sofia's mural. She theorized before that Lupo was the mastermind of the kidnapping. She remembers being surprised at seeing "Francesco" in Mexico (at the time Sofia was almost human trafficked) and also when they had their date night how "Francesco" talked about Sofia like he knew her well. Finally, she remembers the initials FB on the mural and in present day she says out loud Francesco Belmondo, you are Lupo! Lupo admits it, yes I am he, the kidnapper.

Alejandro and Epifano are at a lovely outdoor breakfast. Epifanio is agitated they haven't heard from Teresa. He goes to call her. Alejandro takes advantage of his absence to call Manuela who looks like she's been through a shredder. It even took her sleeves off! Manuela tells him she looked all night for Sofia. Alejandro tells her the TV is showing nothing but the carnage she wrought at the police station, her face is everywhere. And you know what the police like to do to cop killers. Manuela says as soon as she finds them she's disappearing and going back to the U.S. She has until noon. Alejandro asks her where is Lupo? She looked for him where he left his car but he wasn't there. (Jonathan is listening!) She figures he must have gone for help...Manuela's brain clicks and she realizes of course, Lupo must be with Sofia! She tells him she saw Sofia go for medicine and it had to have been for Lupo's wounds. He tells her she needs to wrap this up and not find out Lupo's identity. But she tells Alejandro Teresa is getting help from Jonathan. (Jonathan wonders out loud who she must be talking to) Alejandro tells her not to worry about that and actually Sheldon will handle that, they'll discredit Jonathan and throw him in jail as a traitor. Manuela promises to complete the Trotsky plan today without fail. Manuela steals yet another motorcycle and rides off.
Teresa tells Lupo she can't believe he was in front of her all this time. How could she have been so stupid? She says she had her doubts but ignored them. Oleg told her to doubt him. And did you know Zurdo killed Oleg? Teresa tells him can he imagine what she wants to do right now? Lupo says he knows but not to do it in front of Sofia. Lupo tells Sofia to leave, Teresa tells Sofia to leave. Sofia yells back that she won't go.
Lupo tells Teresa if it were him, he wouldn't hesitate to give him what he deserves. Jonathan is ca lling. Teresa doesn't answer. He calls Ray. Ray doesn't know where Teresa is. Jonathan is wild to find her and talk to her. Jonathan tells him about the order to kill them both. Ray tells him to track and kill Manuela. Jonathan says "I'm on my way". Jonathan tells him to get back (to the safe house?) and watch Teresa's signal and he'll take care of Kira. Paloma asks who is getting killed? Did they find Sofia? Ray says it looks like this story is ending today. Paloma gives Rocio a dark look.
Sofia tells Teresa that it was Lupo who warned her about the plan to kill her. Teresa asks Lupo how did you brainwash her? Sofia answers, she hated him in the beginning too but he's not like the other people, he he took a bullet for her, show the wound. Teresa sees the new tattoo and gets even angrier, when did he get it? Why did he do it? How could he manipulate a little girl. Lupo stands there stone faced. He has nothing to say. Teresa pistol whips him! Sofia jumps to defend him but Teresa tells her to shut up. Was any part of him true? All he says is that things didn't go as planned. Sofia interjects again to say Lupo fell in love with Teresa. But Lupo knows she's with Pedro. Teresa yells Pedro is dead! Thanks to Lupo. Sofia is in disbelief and asks Lupo if it's true. He says yes, but he had nothing to do with that, he only handled the kidnapping. Teresa tells her not to get pulled in. Lupo tells her to do what she needs to but they need to leave quickly. Teresa has her gun pointed at him and tells Sofia to leave. Sofia tells her if she wants to kill him she has to do it in front of her. Teresa asks Lupo what did you do to my daughter?

Reina del Sur Friday recap Part 3
Outside in the car, they gossip about what Sofia must be going through and aren't they taking a little long. They went in for a cat and they must be coming out with a whole zoo. Conejo aptly points out cats are hard to catch. (True!) Sheila says the kidnapper must be in there and moves to get out of the car. Ahmed stops her and says they stay like Teresa ordered.
Sofia continues to plead for Lupo's life. She tells her how she fell in that hole and almost died but Lupo cured her. Teresa says of course you had an accident, because he took you from your home! Sofia keeps on with the defending. Teresa looks at Lupo with disgust. You did a good job with the mother but with the daughter, you outdid yourself. She says he's a good actor. Lupo says he has no excuses, it was a job. How much did you charge, did you charge by the lie?
You don't have children do you? He says no. He made sure Teresa could never catch up with Sofia. How much did you charge for the tattoo to manipulate my daughter. Teresa raises her gun for the 47th time. Sofia finally yells you can't leave me fatherless twice! Teresa looks at her in disbelief, he's not your father, he's your kidnapper. Sofia says he's cared for her like a daughter and runs to him to hug him. Teresa is disgusted at how he betrayed her.Lupo says this wasn't the plan. Teresa tells him to tell her what the plan was.
Flashback to Cayetana's house. Lupo is meeting with her to report he found Teresa. He gets a stack of cash. He did it using the name Emilio. Teresa asks how he found her. He says the DEA gave her that secret identity and they needed someone Italian to get close to her without rousing suspicion. It was part of a plan.
Back at the safe house, Ray Paloma and Rocio go to the computer to track Teresa. They see she's in the same spot for a long time. Sheila calls. Sheila tells him they found Sofia. Rocio and Paloma go to collect Cayetana. Ray tells Sheila Jonathan is on Kira's trail. Sheila tells him they have been in there forever worried that Manuela/Kira might be in there, but Ray assures her Jonathan has Kira tracked. Kira's on her motorcycle, Jonathan follows.
Manuela stops at a light and gives a truck driver the eyes.
In Cayetana's room, Paloma tells Cayetana to pack up. Cayetana thinks she's going to meet Sofia. Cayetana says Oh so they found Francesco Belmondo? Rocio remembers that name and Lupo's familiar face, and apparently no one ever asked Grandma what she knew. Rocio realizes thinks she must have seen him at their house in Spain and that Emilio Lupo and Francesco are all the same person.
Lupo tells Teresa that the DEA broke the agreement to keep Teresa in witness protection/anonimity and they didn't want her to know. They knew that Cayetana would give Teresa's identity to anyone who had an ax to grind. Which she did. But all of the notices were destroyed except the one to Epifanio. Teresa says she gave her testimony in exchange for immunity so they could put Epifanio away. Lupo says everything changed with the new US government. They wanted to interfere with Mexican elections, and wanted Zurdo and Mariano Bravo out of the picture. They wanted a puppet. He tells her Alejandro is DEA.

Reina del Sur 2 Friday recap Part 4 whew!
Epifanio wants to know from Alejandro what's going on. Epifanio's nervous about what Teresa might do and that he'll bear the brunt. Alejandro tries to placate him but Epifanio storms off. Alejandro calls his boss (Sheldon since he's speaking English) with news.
Lupo begs Teresa to believe him. Sofia smiles and says You can't shoot him because you're in love with him. Lupo admits he's in love with Teresa. Teresa finally shoots at him, but just at the floor. She yells that he deserves a bullet in the head but she can't do it. He says he thinks she can do it, but first he tells her about the Trotsky plan. She doesn't believe him.
Jonathan follows the truck Manuela was near and blocks his way. He forces the driver out and to open the hatch. He looks for Manuela who he thinks is hiding among the fruit and finds...her phone. As Manuela watches from a distance then drives off. Now she might be following him.
Alejandro takes an order from his boss on the phone, he says Yes, it will be that way as he writes on a note pad Matar al Mensajero, kill the messenger.
Lupo says she now knows everything and says she can believe him or use another bullet. She wants time to think but he tells her she doesn't have time. She goes to call him Francesco, but then realizes she doesn't even know what to call him. He tells her his real name is Michele. OK, Michele how are you going to get away alive, he says he knows Alejandro will send someone to kill him. Sofia says they need to leave!
The poorly armed team gathers at the doorway to muster the courage to enter when Jonathan arrives. They tell him they heard a gunshot. He sends them away and goes in, gun drawn. Teresa, Sofia and Lupo are getting ready to leave when outside Manuela arrives. Jonathan finds them and sees Teresa's ok. Who's this guy? Jonathan almost shot Lupo when Teresa told him Lupo was the kidnapper. Jonathan tells her he tapped Manuela's phone and about the Trotsky plan. Lupo asks where's Manuela. Jonathan tells him he lost her, and Lupo says I don't think so. She's following you. Manuela approaches the doorway, gun drawn.
Until next time!

reina-sur2

OMG, blockhead, what a magnificent recap of a thrilling episode! And you've captured it all. ¡Muchísimas gracias!

It's interesting that the writers seem to have used the history of US intervention in Central and South American countries as the basis for Operation Trotsky. I've been scratching my head wondering why the DEA would be working to make Epifanio Vargas president of Mexico, but tonight the reason became clear. As you point out, Lupo explains that there was a change of government in the US, and the new government sees Epifanio as a puppet they could control. It seems eerily plausible.

I found the extended scene with Lupo, Sofia, and Teresa very powerful. Sofia was particularly impressive. I was especially moved by her plea to Teresa not to leave her fatherless again.

BTW, thanks for recording what Alejandro scribbled during his phone call: "Matar al Mensajero." It went by too quickly for me to read it on my TV screen.

What a cliffhanger for us to be left with over the weekend!

REINA 2

blockhead, thank you for the fab recap! I also missed the “Matar al mensajero”. So glad you caught it. “Teresa raises her gun for the 47th time.” Perfect! It sure felt like that.

Juanita, great comments about USA interference as described and used in the plot. The fact that the DEA had not kept its deal with Teresa and set her up was particularly troubling. It is always fascinating seeing how a foreign production portrays the USA.

Plot “stretches” that annoyed me:
Teresa allowing Sofía out of her sight to go back ALONE to retrieve her belongings in the abandoned factory was unrealistic to me after just having found her whatever the circumstances might have been let alone these. Also, I could understand the lengthy confrontation after such a horrid and shocking revelation that Lupo was the kidnapper, but thought Teresa would have taken Lupo prisoner and gotten back to the club to question/decide what to do with him THERE (like put him in the same room with Cayetana LOL ) since she KNEW the location was not secure from the time they arrived; but then they would have avoided Manuela on her execution spree. **** A BIG audible sigh (on my part)****

I liked that Teresa gave Oleg credit for knowing Lupo wasn’t legit. I was impressed with her self control that she only pistol whipped Lupo and that she didn’t shoot him on the spot.

Loved Paloma saying she was pregnant not sick. There is hope for her!

Great acting all the way around.

Eleven episodes left for continued mayhem. I cannot wait for Monday,

Reina 2
Thanks for the kind words! It was a rough one, so much happened and lots of dialogue that was important to explain things.
I didn’t get to write much about Tozzi’s star turn.
I give Teresa credit for recognizing a soft sided cat carrier from a distance! I would have thought it just looked like a duffel bag.
Going back to Thursday night what the heck was Anton doing in jail in the cell next to Sanchez Godoy?!

La Reina 2

Blockhead, you have such a unique style of recapping and you really nail the little details, love it!

Michele's character has become more complex every show from day 1, now we learn he is in on the DEA plot, wow.

3 times he saved Sofia's life, and how many times with Teresa, the Turk had her but good, but it was Teresa's love for him that prevented her from pulling the trigger, and Sofia sees it.

crack agent Jonathan sends the young and old home as he comes to rescue Teresa, but alas, he unknowingly brings Manuela to her, ah but the more experienced Lupo doesn't miss a trick.

I fear someone is going to take a bullet from Manuela, and Jonathan is the odd one out.

not sure why they were hustling Cayetana off to the airport, because Sofia was found ??, but loved seeing her realize she had been duped, and no, you are not going to see Sofia.

good eyes Blockhead, so you did find Anton and in prison yet, I looked long at that guy but couldn't place him.

reina-sur2

blockhead, kudos for recognizing Anton. The guy looked somewhat familiar, but I couldn't place him. Also, I was preoccupied with the music in the background: the "Lacrimosa" (Weeping) from Mozart's Requiem. I kept trying to figure out why they were playing it and were the writers trying to tell us something. Our friend Wikipedia gives the translation of the Latin lyrics thusly:

Full of tears will be that day
When from the ashes shall arise
The guilty man to be judged;
Therefore spare him, O God,
Merciful Lord Jesus,
Grant them eternal rest. Amen.

Hmmm....

Reina-sur-2

Thanks, blockhead. Fab recap of this Big Reveal episode.

Yay, the mother and daughter reunion. So glad we didn't have to wait until the gran final. But this means there's going to be a lot more gut-wrenching action till then. Squee!

Nuts that Manuela is running around without disguise after killing police officers in their own police station.

Jonathan's stock shot up when he called Manuela's brother and tapped into her phone, but dropped when she was able to follow him to Teresa and Sofia.

Lupo is still a mystery to me. He's a good guy, but why did he let Cayetana hire him in the first place? Still don't know the skeleton in his closet. Hmmm, will Sofia and Teresa start calling him Michele now?

reina-sur2

Thank you, blockhead.

"Sofia pleads with her to be careful with the gun" she also stood in front of Lupo, extending her arms to the sides, covering him. It was so touching. This time Sofia saved Lupo. She protected him long enough for Teresa to get over the initial blinding fury.

"Matar al Mensajero." - who is the Messenger? Teresa and Sofia? - no news here, already ordered to kill them. Zurdo? Lupo and Manuela? Who is next then? Logically, Alejandro himself.

Jarifa, "like put him in the same room with Cayetana LOL" - cruel and unusual punishment. He deserves it.

La Reina 2

Niecie- on Lupo, the way I understood it, that when the new administration hatched the plot to use Teresa, "only" the DEA new her true identity and location, so that in order not to give themselves away they had a guy (Lupo) from the country she was in "pose" as a detective and hire himself out to Cayetana and then disclose her location.

2 things, Lupo was in on it from the beginning, and Cayetana now realizes she was duped.

reina-sur2

Wonderful, wonderful recap Blockhead!!! While watching it last evening I was mentally commiserating with you for such a dialogue heavy capítulo. And not one word of the dialogue was filler.

I can't imagine anything on television as good as La Reina del Sur 2 is right now. Of course, it's an advantage that they aren't going with over 100 episodes. I really like shorter, more exciting novelas.

I still wonder if another shoe is going to drop re Paloma. That sulky face just bothers me. Also, some of the dialogue sounded like Rocío and Paloma were also getting on that plane. But I must have been wrong. They can't go back to Spain.

Also loved the "47th time" Teresa pointed the gun at Michele.

I get that she's a trained DEA agent, but some of Kira's exploits surely strain credibility.

The little girl portraying Sofía has a wonderful acting career ahead of her. She's just spot on in every single scene.

And they finally explained what's been driving me nuts: why the President and the DEA want Vargas to win. And they explained it by a change in the US Government. Presumably a previous president signed off on Teresa's wit protection deal. I'm still a bit confused. It sounded like Cayetana sent a bunch of people after Teresa. But Michele said that the DEA stopped those other assassins. [Well, no, Siso Pernas almost succeeded.] And the way he said that only one envelope went through, to Vargas, made it sound like it WASN'T planned that way, just sort of happened. Anyone understand this better?

I enjoyed Cayetana discovering how she'd been played.

So...do we think Vargas is going to make it to Los Pinos? The other guy, Mariano Bravo is, in some ways, worse than Epifanio. Maybe Big Ed aka Antonio Alcalá, the Governor of Sinaloa, will run and win.

I'm kind of looking forward to Bebita discovering what Epifanio - and her awful brother - have been up to.

I'm leaning toward Kill the Messenger being Lupo.

All of the actors are great but I think Kate del Castillo does anger really well. The way she looked at Sofia, paused, then yelled He’s not your father, he’s your kidnapper! was so good.
I think the messenger must be Lupo too. Jonathan is too nice to survive Manuela, but he is very smart and motivated to avenge Willy.
Novelera- I think the DEA allowed the one letter to get to Epifanio because that’s who they wanted to know Teresa’s identity/location. Even though Alejandro is in on the operation, I guess they have to play the game and make it look like others are responsible.
Maybe these are the ‘cartas sobre la mesa’ they mention in the theme song!

REINA 2

novelera, I agree with you about this being the best thing on tv right now; at least it is for me.
