JUNTOS, EL CORAZÓN NUNCA SE EQUIVOCA Capítulo 8 Thursday 8/22/19 PART 1

The actual title of this episode is “Suspiro en el tiempo” (A Sigh in Time) I would have named it “Beware of the Fate of Any Beloved Character Who is Happy Before the Very End of a Novela”.

Ari explains to Polita what happened with little Arqui and how he already has notified the police.Polita collapses in Ari’s arms.

Thiago helps the search for little Arqui by sending a video to all of his fans.

Ari tries to convince Polita that they will find little Arqui. Eduardo comes home to support Polita and help the best he can.

At work, Temo and Carlota argue about the Oleg/Ubaldo matter. That comes to a quick close when Temo gets a tortured message from Ari. He calls Ari and hears the news about little Arqui.

Elsa is with Ubaldo telling him that she knows that everything he said was a lie. He’s, sheis calling him a liar. He suggests she might want to be careful with her words. She suggests that he be careful with his words and strategy. Ubaldo insists he not going to let anyone defame him. She insists he didn't have to drag Oleg into it. She knows Oleg is a man of integrity and didn’t create that video. She dares him to show her the proof that he did.

Thiago sneaks up on Carlota at work and they flirt.

Mateo explains the proof they have that Oleg made the video to Elsa. Temo is also there with Ubaldo. He explains how with AI it is possible to create a single believable video out of many. It is known as a “deep fake” or “ultra falso”. Elsa knows all about that but where is the proof? Ubaldo says the same terminology that Oleg used in reference to him at an earlier time in his column appears also in the video. Next, Oleg lives in the same zone and building as the IP address that the video was sent from. And lastly, Oleg is the only one who has openly attacked him. Elsa finds those reasons weak. Ubaldo says if she takes the part of his enemies he will accept her resignation. She decides she is going to resign. She prefers to be in the side of justice with a quiet conscience. She hopes Ubaldo wins honestly. Temo realizes Ubaldo is in a tough place but he wants to go help look for little Arqui.

Everyone is waiting for any news about little Arqui at Polita’s. Finally Ari comes in followed by little Arqui holding Dora’s hand. Everyone is overjoyed to have little Arqui home.

Soledad makes plans to meet Diego at the café so they can have supper together. Nora insists that she meet her there afterwards. Nora needs to get out and breathe. She is also interested in seeing the art guy. His name is Collins. Soldad wants her to cool it because she is a married woman. Nora reminds her an unhappily married woman. She knows her brother does not treat Soledad well. If Soledad wants to see Collins only as a friend that is fine but have scourged themselves enough. Nora insists they are going out together. Soledad finally agrees.

REINS-SOY

The Stench of Desperation (Part 1)

Skirting the fine line between bad and irredeemable is an art. Some perform it masterfully, leaning precariously into the abyss but not quite falling in. The degree and depth with which one chooses to disregard the laws of man and God varies. As does the reason. Stealing food for your hungry children is but a violation. Deception, cruelty and callousness are far more egregious. The trail becomes so twisted, once immersed, the perpetrator can think of only one thing - survival. But at what cost? We know Charly has killed before. Although culpable, that was long ago where he was forced into a situation not of his choosing. Now a grown man, circumstances have changed. A choice will be made. Will he take another life even though in his heart, he must have an inkling that his journey as a free man is coming to an end? Is there any trace of human decency that will prevent him from killing in cold blood? The curtain rises.

Charly struts with his bodyguards in tow as his adoring fans await and chant his name. The ever present male reporter questions him about stealing Yameli’s songs. Charlysays anybody who doubts that I'm a writer, composer needs just look at my latest song Me Interesas.*

*(of course this is Axel's song so)…

Next, he gets asked about the fact Eric is his son, not his brother. Charly sneers but is silent. Adoring papa he is not.

DJ Mike pumps up Charly’s sagging ego. There is a challenge laid out between Surround Sound and Luxor. Charly and Jack start calling their respective rosters of singers. The talent is enthusiastic without exception, eager to sign up. There’s even a ‘Let’s do it Jack” with a thumbs up.

Erick and Yameli share a short serenade. It seems Juanjo is working on a song that isn’t finished yet. Jack introduces Rosalia Armenta whom he’s known and worked with a long time. Jack tells Juanjo she can help him expand his market...Central America, United States.

When Yameli is mentioned, Rosalia asks Jack if she is the one he is crazy about. Jack squirms a bit but says yes as the words hit Juanjo hard as he looks away and gulps his coffee.

When Rosalia is introduced to Yameli, she tells Jack hey your description stopped short...she's a doll (bonbon). Hmmm.

The Stench of Desperation (Part 2)

Wendy calls and tells Juanjo she hopes she isn’t interrupting but she is being released. No you aren’t interrupting Juanjo lies. When Rosalia asks who called, Jack says it was Juanjo’s wife. Rosalia says she didn’t know he was married. Yameli mutters he is single.

Caro confronts Charly -they have a huge problem and need to shut Yameli up somehow. When Charly asks how, she suggests paying him more so he doesn’t talk but Charly says he has no more money. He is trying to sell his apartment in Acapulco but there’s no buyer yet. Caro offers to buy it, whatever it costs. Minus her legal fee of course. Charly says I thought you were helping me! I don’t work for free Caro states. It is agreed when the money is transferred Moro will be paid. After a half hearted kiss on the cheek, Caro leaves.

Van enters Charly’s bedroom asking if he is all right. I love you he calls out to no response. Later Vanesa brings Serge home but Charly is nowhere to be found. Serg is nervous and has good reason to be. Van makes a beeline for Charly’s safe and it’s empty. The gun is missing. Serge thinks he may have gotten rid of it.

Moro’s wife visits and warns him he should talk rather than sticking with Charly. She keeps up the pressure by telling him his kid misses him.

Charly grimaces as he takes Marlencita’s call – she wants her money. He tells her he has half. It’s either that or nothing, take it or leave it. She'll give him two days to get the other half. He'll send her the location where to meet. Marlencita’s ride seems nervous and uncomfortable with letting her off in the deserted area. Do you have a phone.? Yes, calm down. She gets out and tells him she'll find her own way home. Her last and very fatal mistake.

Charly gets to the agreed upon meeting place with a bag of money and asks Marlencita if she is alone. He asks for the phone. She laughs and continues to taunt him, giving him 2 more days. When Charly reminds her she has the computer backup, she laughs. I don't even have enough pesos for a bus ticket, how could I afford a computer? She is relentless. He pulls out the gun and without any foreplay, shoots her in the forehead. He screams at her lifeless corpse, takes the money and then leaves.

Yameli and Erick are working in the studio and enjoying further mother/son bonding time. Yameli tells Erick she loves latest song he's composing. Erick tells her not to say that just because you're my mom. Yameli smiles and says she really loves it. It's going to be a hit. Erick expresses the connection he feels to her when he composes. Yameli says she realizes that we were always connected, because I was always thinking of you when I wrote my songs in prison.

Charly is torturing himself by playing the incriminating tape of Diana and the money laundering situation. Vanesa comes in again asking him if he is all right to which he tells her to go to her room and quit bugging him. He is swigging from a bottle and I sense a bit of remorse may be seeping in. Either that, or he is hung over. Or both.

The Stench of Desperation (Part 3)

Erick is comforting Irma and Irma explains her sadness about her father to a very understanding Ligia who invites her to stay there. I don’t want to cause any problems Irma states. You're adorable when you're pouting Erick smiles. Ligia can try talking to her dad. Erick says no, he'll talk to him. Ligia goes to make pot of hot chocolate for the two of them.

Oooh, Jack and Yameli are cozily watching Erick and Chris’ video. Jack says she looks happy, radiant. They talk about Rosalia helping Juanjo make crossover move with music and market. Yameli asks if she's single, divorced, gay, married, what. Jack says She's VERY single and "dónde pone el ojo, pone la bala" (when she shoots, she scores...and she has her eye on Juanjo). Jealous? Yameli says no. She wants to go with Jack to Japanese restaurant and a movie. She missed a lot of movies during the 17 years she was in prison. Side Note: Do we dare believe Yameli isn’t jealous and that she doesn’t care? Color me hopeful but skeptical.

Then next morning, a happy Erick awakes to his mother and a beaming Irma.

Juanjo talks about projects with Colombians, hip hop and reggaeton. Rosalia meets them, also talking production and working together. She moves in close on Juanjo, tells him she likes him and wants to put him in touch with "gringos" (people in United States and others outside Mexico). Expand his influence. Wow. This married man has women flocking to him. Is that the secret? Get married and everyone wants you? Sorry, I digress.

Erick and Chris’ video is garnering widespread support and many positive comments. Serge smiles his approval.

Charly is drunk dreaming of his confrontation with Marlin. He wake up panicking, searching for the phone he hid under pillow. He puts the phone in safe (to which Vane evidently has combination. He starts to gag. So do we…

Charly doesn't like Irma's outfit and asks if she is going out like that. He tells her to talk to Angie and get the right clothes.

Irma asks if he has heard the gossip about the two of them. Yeah, so what he asks? It's not true. And it's better we leave it right here--better I quit. Charly asks if she read the contract and tells her you're obligated to stay there 2 years, unless you pay a fine for leaving. Which is 3 thousand pesos. Of course she doesn’t have the money so Charly says you'll stay here as long as I want. Now go see Angie and get a better wardrobe.

The Stench of Desperation (Part 4 - Last)

Axel is recoding. Now we’re talking!! He sounds great and looks better. But I digress. Jack and the producer shake their heads in unison to the beat, enjoying the music. Uhh, me too…

Charly and Irma (think Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman) are besieged by reporters. Charly is giving another interview. He is asked about Yameli's accusations. He dismisses them as lies. So they ask about Erick and this time he admits that Erick is his son (in interview at first, he refused to discuss this) and said Yameli never told him they had a baby together. But he was always very paternal with his "brother", always fatherly with him. I can’t. Even…

Pictures of Irma and Charly taken during the video shoot are flooding the internet. Serg and Erick discuss the situation. Erick says Charly was always an envious, narcissistic person. And he hasn't called him or sought him out since learning he's actually his father. I have two moms. And a "mamacita" (hot girlfriend) says Serg (isn’t Serg the best?).

More talk about the planned competition between Surround Sound and Luxor. Erick finds Chris and assures him they're no longer on the outs. It bothered him the stuff he was saying about Charly before. But realized he judged him badly. Chris is a good musician and a good guy. Erick puts an arm around Chris’ shoulder and they walk off.

Charly is doing an interview with DJ Mike, setting up fake story about he and Irma. Charly is planting the seeds of doubt and lecherous old man that he is, and grabs her leg She negates the stories and states she is Erick's girlfriend. The rumors about her and Charly are not true. Smarmy Mike adds “well where there's smoke there's fire...”. Sporting a shifty smile, Charly says you know, people like to talk, they like to think there's something going on between their favorite artists”…When Mike mentions the compromising photos, Irma confirms the photos were from the music video and they were just "acting". She says again, I have a boyfriend and I'm very much in love. My boyfriend is Erick. Pez Koi. Mike asks Isn't Pez Koi your son, Charly? Ooops.

Some more talk about music challenge. Surround Sound has Colombians Kapla and Miky. Charly and Luxor have Ruko and Bad Hombre.

Callers are not happy and express their disapproval Charly is trying to hit on his son’s novia. Charly tries to make excuses by saying the video is fiction.

A father and son out walking their dog come upon Marlencita’s body. Cut.

JUNTOS Part 2

It turns out that little Arqui ran into some policemen and the only name he knew in the city was the name of the pharmacy where Dora and Nora work called “Farmacia Sana Dora”. So the police took him there. Polita tells Dora she has not anny idea of how grateful she is to her for finding her son. It is a miracle he is at home. Eduardo echoes that sentiment considering this is the largest city in the world. Ari blames himself for the incident. He is so sorry. Polita also tells little Arqui that he is responsible, too, She has told him many times that he cannot go running off. Polita talks about the many children who do disappear and their families never see them again. Polita says how they will never be apart. Dora tells little Arqui to obey his mother. They are going to make sure today that little Arqui learns the numbers for her and for Ari’s cell phones and his address. Eduardo has an announcement. Tomorrow they are going to have a family outing. They are going to go to Chapultepec Park. Ari will invite Temo. He sends Temo a text letting him know that little Arqui has been found.

Temo gets the good news text as Ubaldo is droning on. When he is off the phone, Temo tells him the good news. Ubaldo sees the incident as as reflecting the goodness of the people dedicated to the city (the police) and to the citizenry.. Temo asks to leave work early to see little Arqui and Ari.That is a no go but he can call Ari on his break. They have too much work to do. Ubaldo would like Mateo and Temo to design a special publication for their web page portal emphasizing water conservation. Ubaldo can see that Temo is disappointed but reminds him that have tons of work that has to get done so here they do work on Sundays. Mateo smirks.

Ari gets fired from his job because he comes in late, His boss doesn’t want to heat any excuses or anything else from him.

Elsa has invited Oleg over to the house. He is surprised but comes over. She asks him if he saw Ubakdo’s ores conference. Yes, he did. She wants to tell Oleg that she believes in him and supports him.

Ubaldo asks Carlota to come to his office. He may be interested in getting back together with her. He misses her. She says she loves him and it is something she cannot avoid. Ubaldo says he will think about it.

Diego is happy having supper with his mom but is wondering why. Soledad explains that she just wants to be with him. He leaves and Nora arrives. As soon as she sits down she starts looking at Collins.

When Dora gets home she looks for Nora but cannot find her.

Elsa tells Oleg they have had their ups and downs in their marriage but he is a good man and will always be the father of her daughter. She corrects herself and says of her “children” . It means so much to him that she trusts him. He tells her his plans. He is planning on confronting Ubaldo. She informs him that she resigned. He thinks maybe she could get rehired and work on the inside for him. They could be accomplices like in old times. He feels like she still loves in. He goes in for the kiss but he discovers that she is nowhere close to being ready for that.

JUNTOS Part 3

Ari comes out of the shower and goes into his and Temo’s room. He finds it is all decorated with mini lights and hearts. Temo is dressed up in a white shirt and a red bow tie. They have so much to talk about but Temo says they need a break poetically worded as “un suspiro en el tiempo”. (A sigh in time) Temo says when a door closes, a window opens and each light represents the dreams they are going to fullfill everyday, every year for the rest of their lives however long their lives last. They kiss and remember so much of their lives together.

Nora tries to prod Soledad to say something to Collins. He does notice them and comes on over. Soledad introduces him to Nora. They make small time about books. Soledad decides it is time to go but Collins has to remind her of where the exit is located. He also picks up their tab. (Again)

Ubaldo talks to Mateo about his plan. He tells him it cannot fail or it will fail the people. Mateo is confident. In his opinion, the truth is overrated in politics. The only important thing is for one group to believe another group is wrong. Ubaldo cautions him on thinking he is smarter than he is. Mateo thinks he is smart enough not to get defeated, He tells Ubaldo that the war is on. Now they just need to win the battles. Ubaldo asks what does he have planned for Ari and Temo. Here is his strategy. Ari and Temo are capable of believing anything because they believe in the goodness of people. Ubaldo says if he keeps getting these great results, he will achieve his dreams .If not, Ubaldo will make Mateo’s life into a miserable nightmare. Mateo has no plans of failing.

Ari tells Temo how he got fired but isn’t that upset because he will find another job. With that, Temo tells him how he falls in love with him more each day. Ari tells him he has him today and forever.Ari comments on how Temo went all out on the decorations. Temo says he wanted to give Ari the stars.

When Nora comes home, she is confronted by Dora who, as her older sister who demands respect, wants to know what she has been doing out until this time. Decent women dion’t Come home this late. She threatens her with telling Ubaldo. Nora cannot be bothered.

The next day Dora is rationing water as the administrator of the condos. Dora insists that everyone will follow her rules. She ignores suggestions to make it more fair and easier. Nora sarcastically comments that Dora acts like she is the only one who has access to the truth in the whole city. Dora tells them to all serve themselves in moderation.

Elsa goes back to see Ubaldo. She tells him that she was too quick to offer her resignation. She explains Oleg as a man who uses strange methods to reach his goals. She assures Ubaldo that her loyalty is to him. She feels a real responsibility to finish what she started with Ubaldo. She wants her job back. Ubaldo wants to know why. She says because together they have advanced in an impressive manner and he needs her to win. He welcomes her home to her job. Only one more thing, she has to put her cards on the table before she accepts coming back.

JUNTOS Part 4

Eduardo has made breakfast for the family. Polita is happy and thanks him. They also have a dog tag for Little Arqui to wear on a chain around his neck with his address and phone numbers. Eduardo has some work to finish up and then he will come back so they can go to Chapultepec Park. Polita declares Ari and little Arqui the princes of her heart and Eduardo the king.

Elsa tells Ubaldo that before she comes back she needs to make sure that he will take her into account when making decisions. He cannot leave her out in the dark and then expect her to be able to defend him. She cannot do that if she doesn’t have the tools. Jbakdo thinks it si reasonable and welcomes her back.

As the kids are all eating breakfast, the doorbell rings and Diego goes to answer it. In the meantime, Carlota wants to talk to Ari and Temo later. Temo won’t have any part in it. Diego comes back with Mateo who stopped by to pick up Temo on the way to work. Teo thanks hm it turns down the life. Mateo is all about turning over a new leaf for now because they are in the same classes and working at the same office. Temo is not interested and Mateo finally leaves.

Mateo and Temo give their presentation ontheir latest assignment from Ubaldo. Elsa asks if they worked as a team. They both worked on their parts separately and then put them all together for the common good. Elsa likes the mixture of the sensitivity of Temo with the pragmatism of Mateo. Ubaldo thinks they now need a dose of reality.

As Polita packs up their food for Chapultepec, Ari is still telling his mother how bad and responsible he feels for having lost little Arqui.
Polita tells them thanks serious now but one day they will look back at it all and have a good laugh about it. She then asks her sons to promise her that they will always be here for each other to t take care of each other. Because they have the strongest bond In the world as brothers. Temo says they also have her. She agrees but when she is gone they will be each other’s greatest support.Ari laughs saying she will always be with them. She has to see him fullfill his dreams. She agrees that she will be with them every step of the way. They have to remember their main force is their hearts. Ari says “ Juntos, el corazón nunca se equivoca.” They enjoy a family hug.

JUNTOS Part 5

Ubaldo makes a campaign appearance with Elsa and the kids, it is all about the after.

As they wait for Eduardo, Ari tells his mother how proud he is of her. Polita tells him that if he and Temo ever have children they will learn a lot. He says that would be complicated. She tells him times have changed. She tells him how he and Temo changed her life and made her think about things she had never thought about before. They taught her how to be brave. Ari says she already was brave but just needed a little push. She tells Ari never to sell himself or Temo short. They are examples for so many.Ari with his music and videos and Temo with the campaign. Temo says each day is harder. Polita says worthwhile things are a,ways difficult but he can ALWAYS count on her to hug him after a tough day or help him reach his goals.

Little Arqui plays ball with Ari and Polita as Dora watches from above . When Nora comes by she pretends to not be watching. Nora tells her to just admit that Ari”s family has softened her heart.

Temo and Diego talk about Carlota’s dad Olegario. He sure surprised Temo. Diego thinks the family is sort of strange. He explains that when he told his dad he had no interest in politics, his dad looked for a young guy to take that place. Andrés became so close to Ubaldo they were almost like father and son. It caused a lot of problems in Carlota’s family. When Andrés died, it all got worse. The topic turns to depression. Temo asks Diego if his present depression has anything to do with them not working out romantically. Diego tells him it is much deeper. Temo says he has always been the more secure out of the two of them. It all comes down to one moment when you realize you are not the person you want to be says Diego. They head home.

Polita, Eduardo, little Arqui and Ari all are loading up the vehicle for their trip to Chapultepec Park. Polita notices she has forgotten the rice pudding and goes inside to get it. When she doesn’t come back, Ari goes in to help her. At the same time, Polita grabs the rice pudding and suddenly she is watching herself. She sees herself collapse and fall on the kitchen floor. By the time Ari comes in, Polita is dead and her soul is gone.

JUNTOS

Bummer. I sure didn’t see that coming. Polita was one of my favorites. Now where will little Arqui end up? With his deadbeat dad? With granny Imelda?

REINA-SOY

First and foremost, a heartfelt thank you to Judy who saved my life by providing her wonderful vocabulary. This, after a full day and another outstanding Mirada recap. Judy, you are amazing. Gracias amiga.

I have had a nagging thought all night and I hope I am wrong. Rosalina. A shark in a suit?? I didn't care for her right off the bat. And then, the terrible thought crept into my mind. Did Jack bring her along to go after Juanjo so he could have Yameli to himself? Please tell me I'm wrong. I mean, I'm wrong all the time!!! First, her interest in the lackluster Juanjo is inexplicable. What on earth could she possibly be attracted to? Just as I'm wondering how Juanjo and Yameli could ever truly get together due to Wendy and the baby, I'm thinking the writers need to do something to explain why Yameli could ever possibly choose Juanjo over Jack if if indeed that does occur.

I was surprised at Charly's quick, savage shooting. Yet, he is still carrying on with his life as though little has occurred. No matter how he is being beaten down, he keeps getting up.

The highlight for me was Jack of course. Next was Axel. Hot, hot, hot. Both. Sigh.

Can't wait to hear what you all have to say.

"Polita grabs the rice pudding and suddenly she is watching herself. She sees herself collapse and fall on the kitchen floor. By the time Ari comes in, Polita is dead and her soul is gone".

Jarifa, you convey the deepest emotions perfectly and do so with a few, carefully chosen words.

I have to go back and read your recap but wanted to comment now as this was the only scene I saw.

Why writers why??? Yes, I know this is only a story, but what on earth is gained by Polita's death?? I also posted yesterday that Polita is my favorite character. This is inexplicable and intolerable. Pardon me, my exhaustion is obviously showing.

Through reading your excellent recaps, she and Eduardo appear to be the only happy couple here, am I right?? Does everyone need to be miserable? I loathe the Bambi story plot. Mother killed, child alone. Ack.

Will comment more after I am able to read your recap Jarifa. But your last few lines were outstanding.

Diana

JUNTOS

Wow Jarifa. "Beware of the Fate of Any Beloved Character Who is Happy Before the Very End of a Novela” hit the mark perfectly.

Could anything indicate doom more than "Polita says how they will never be apart" and "Polita ...then asks her sons to promise her that they will always be here for each other to take care of each other. Because they have the strongest bond In the world as brothers"? Oh dear.

"Temo gets the good news text as Ubaldo is droning on" made me smile.

"...“un suspiro en el tiempo”. (A sigh in time) Temo says when a door closes, a window opens and each light represents the dreams they are going to fullfill everyday, every year for the rest of their lives however long their lives last" was just lovely.

"It all comes down to one moment when you realize you are not the person you want to be says Diego". Ahh Diego.

While thie event was devastating (especially to those of us who've watched this series from the start), we can take comfort from your fantastic retelling of this sad story. Thank you.

Diana

REINA

Loved the title Diana. Yes, you can almost smell the stench emanating from Charly as he edges further and further into the abyss. And your prologue was so thoughtful I'm going to copy and paste it here. By your writing, you are lending a philosophical depth to this story that goes far beyond what the original writers created:

As for my help with the vocabulary--it's no big deal. You are the one who has to weave it into a coherent recap, and that is what takes the real time and mental energy. You are a trooper and I know how much Rgv Chick appreciates you stepping in during this very tough time in her life. You have all my admiration partner.

JUNTOS

Jarifa, I'm not watching the show but was horrified to see that they have killed off Polita. To what end indeed? I hate it when the writers sacrifice an innocent, lovable character for the sake of drama. Ugh.

REINA-SOY

Gracias Judy. The title seemed fitting as Charly becomes more odious with each passing day.

I thank you for your very generous words. I can only say I write from my heart. Caray seems to be the one place I can be myself and say what I feel.

Without your words, mine would have been meaningless. Without your kindness, I would have floundered. And badly. I thank you so very much amiga.

Yikes, sorry for all of the typos but I cannot go back and edit later recapping in this format.

Diana, thanks for your always kind comments. What a nice way for me to start my day! : ) So, the last little island of stability and normalcy and Tuppers is gone. Guess we will also lose Eduardo and little Arqui. I hope I am wrong. If they had to kill Polita off, they should have at least given her a wonderful telenovela wedding earlier and had Eduardo adopting little Arqui. I shudder to think of little Arqui going back to live with Audifaz. Yuck!

JudyB, yes! this is chock full of drama already! We didn’t need anymore what with a most likely murder and murderer running free, lost children, lots of domestic abuse, a hot political campaign, alternative lifestyle issues, the perils of late adolescence, depression, etc.

The actress Gabriela Platas said in “Tv y novelas” that when she found out the fate of Polita, she started to cry and couldn’t stop because it was the character she had portrayed for the longest time and the character she had the most affection for. I will certainly always identify her with Polita. She made me smile.

"REINA":

Judy: I'm NOT shocked about Charly whacking Marlin.

JUNTOS

Interesting comment from Gabriela Platas, Jarifa. I see these actors get as attached to the story and characters as we do. Always appreciate your "inside information". Thanks.

Diana and judyb,

Thanks so much for that excellent recap. Diana, you have an amazing way with words , and through the years, I have known your kind and loving heart which your comments and recaps always show. I feel like I know you even though we have never met.

I saw Rosalie was flirting with Juanjohum, but it never occurred to me that Jack might have brought her there to seduce him. As akways, Jusnjo had that deer caught in the headlights look.

I must run, but I will be back later.

CHickie, I am sending out good vibrations to you, amiga.

Thank you, jarifa.

Oh no...I cannot believe that the writers have done this.I was shocked.

Uh oh..is Dora going to swoop in on Arqui now ? She has been mesmerized by that little boy as she fantasized about her own lost son.

Hubris??? Was supposed to be juntos sorry

Thank you for your sweet words Susanlynn. We've been through so much the last decade plus, haven't we? Death, near death and other heartaches. But through it all, we've supported, encouraged and comforted. And we've had laughter and camaraderie along the way to ease our hearts. How fortunate we are to have "met".

I'm sure I'm wrong about Jack. But like anyone who appears to be just about perfect, there is usually something that is not...

I'm anxious to see tonight.

Diana

reina-soy

Thank you, Diana and Judy.

Charly lies all the time. Every other sentence is a lie.

Caro said Yamelí was talking to Mora. It must have happened off screen.

Marlencita. Blackmailing someone involved in a murder is not for those with bad judgement.

It is not clear what happened with Irma and her dad and why she stayed with Lidia and Eric.

"Do we dare believe Yameli isn’t jealous and that she doesn’t care?" - I am skeptical too.

Signing contract without reading comes back to bite Irma, just like it did Diana. The termination fee is 3 million pesos. So, there is no way out. Good for her for setting the record straight about her boyfriend.

"Did Jack bring her along to go after Juanjo so he could have Yameli to himself?" - Diana, I am not sure you are wrong and you comment about it makes sense.

REINA-SOY

"Marlencita. Blackmailing someone involved in a murder is not for those with bad judgement". Love this observation Lucio.

And yes, that 3 million pesos stung. I had to smile at Irma's offering to pay Wendy's hospital bill in the previous episode. No matter how fast she might rise to the top (and Charly is doing everything possible to keep her down), she would never have access to that kind of money.

Damn. I so want to be right about something in a TN one of these days but I sure don't want it to be about any subterfuge on Jack's part.

"So, the last little island of stability and normalcy and Tuppers is gone" made me smile Jarifa.

I'm sure the actress was beside herself. Did she ever dream her character was expendable? I'm betting not. Neither did we.

I really don't like the trend away from happily ever after endings. We have too much "real life" as it is. We need escapism. And deep, true, steadfast, romantic love.

Diana

JUNTOS

Susanlynn, interesting thought about Dora trying to swoop in. I can’t see going well for little Arqui unless he stays with Ari or gets to stay with Eduardo. What will happen with Eduardo now that Polita is gone? Will he just disappear?

Diana, besides the two seasons of MMTF and this spinoff, the character of Polita was in a stage production that was called something like “Aristemo the Musical” that toured all over Mexico between the end of MMTMF and the spinoff. I so agree with you about wanting a happy ending because of having too much of “ real life” as it is. I vote for escapism! !

JUNTOS. Superb recap Jarifa! I assume there's no way that the writers could just be teasing us about Polita's death--especially after the words of the actress about how much it upset her. I too am very disappointed--and there was way too little preparation for this. Temo's words to Ari are cursi but cute.

JUNTOS

SpanProf, I will take all of the cursilerías the boys can dish out at this point. : )

Diana and Jarifa,

I agree completely. I need all the escapism and happily ever afters I can get...especially right now . I don't like telenovelas making me more depressed. I hope I don't have to find a new way to escape reality.

"REINA":

Lucio: I'm more convinced that Charly will go down in a bloodthirsty & violent way. Cannot see him going to prison, death is the only option unless the producers throw us a twist...

JUNTOS

Thanks, Jarifa. You are truly amazing. We never know what we're going to get with Juntos, but you lay it out with finesse no matter what.

I am shocked by Polita's sudden death just when everything was all upbeat for her. Of course, this happens in real life, but count me in on wanting some good ole escapism too. Instead of a wedding, looks like we'll get a funeral and a custody battle.

JUNTOS

Niecie, thanks. I am so happy to have a patio to watch this with. I hope that they don’t spend too much time on the death/ funeral. It is way too sad.Who will show up, if if anyone does, from the Córcega’s in Oaxaca? Maybe Dani because she has already appeared? I hope we get to see Pancho again.

JUNTOS, EL CORAZÓN NUNCA SE EQUIVOCA Capítulo 9 Fri. 8/23/19 Part 1

This was another slice and dice special of the original episodes 12 & 13. I sort of didn’t mind the chop job this time because the originals were very hard to watch with so much more grief over Polita’s death portrayed.

Ari cries and screams out of grief over his mother’s dead body. Temo comes in and finds him. He goes and gets Eduardo. Eduardo tries some CPR but she is dead.

Ubaldo calls Carlota when she is with Soledad and Diego. They know the call is from him. She plays it very formal talking to her “boss”.. He understands she cannot talk but wants to see her later at the apartment. He will call her later. He tells her to be more careful than ever. When she hangs up, Soledad tells Carlota to be careful with her husband or she will never get any rest from work. Diego agrees that his father is the worst.

A doctor (who Dora called) gives Eduardo the reason for Polita’s death. She had a stroke. He gives Eduardo the necessary documents so he can go ahead with the funeral arrangements.

Oleg and Elsa are in another therapy session. They are able to discuss how their individual reactions to their son’s death affected their relationship. Oleg says the pain he suffered over Andrés’ death made him useless in helping her or anyone else. Elsa understands that there’s no greater pain than a parent losing a child.

Dora tearfully tells Nora that Polita died. Nora cannot believe it.

Oleg admits that is why he left but he has realized that he needed to come back and face his truth. As for Elsa, she feels it is so hard to go through that pain all alone. One needs to have someone with them to give them hope that there is light out there; just to feel the support of a hand or a hug. Oleg extends his hands to her and she takes them.

Diego, Carlota, Soledad, Elsa, Dora, and Nora have gone to Polita’s house. They sit quietly crying and hugging each other. Little Arqui is sleeping on the couch. Ubaldo is trying to call Carlota again. She goes to another room to talk. He starts out angrily saying nobody stands him up but his attitude changes when he hears that something bad has happened to Polita. He decides to join them all.

JUNTOS Part 2

Finally, Ari, Temo and Eduardo come out to talk to everyone. Little Arqui wakes up and asks where his mother is. Ari explains that she is in heaven. Arqui asks what does he mean “she is in heaven.” Little Arqui knows that is what people say only when someone is dead. He asks if his mother died. He knows that she said she would always be there with them. Ari hugs little Arqui. Everyone else hugs them, too.

Eduardo tells Ari and everyone that everything has been arranged. He knows that he has a father but he would like to take care of him and Arqui because he loves them so much. He’d never leave them not cared for. Elsa says they can also count on her family. Soledad says they can all be a bigger family from the heart. Dora pledges before God to help care for little Arqui. Ari thanks her but reminds her that his brother is his responsibility. They all decide that helping out can be a shared mission of the group that is there. Dora says Ari need his own time and space. Elsa thinks it is very brave of him that he wants to care for his brother but he himself needs to grow. Temo says they will all support him. Ubaldo arrives and offers his condolences. Ari can count on his support and unconditional backing. He knows he is not a perfect man . He has made many mistakes but family has always been the most important thing for him. He offers to pay for the funeral. Ari thanks him but tells them all that his mother is . . . was a very simple woman and she would have wanted her funeral service to be at her home.

Ari and Temo talk alone. Ari says they are all starting a new life but it seems that has all stopped as of today. Temo’s feels he can talk to him because he has been in his place. His mother died giving birth to him. Then Rebeca who was like a second other to him died. He well knows the feelings of frustration and anger. Temo will be there for him every step of the way because he is his heart. Ari cannot imagine them living the rest of their lives without their mothers. Then he has the responsibility of taking care of little Arqui. Temo corrects him. They both have the responsibility of taking care of little Arqui. They will support him always together.

Dani and Pancho fly in from Oaxaca as soon as they hear the news. Pancho will be staying with the boys for as long as is necessary. He arranged with Susana “Bonita” to take care of the kids. Dani has to get back to the triplets. Pancho remembers Polita being his first friend in Oaxaca. She always had that optimistic smile. Pancho says they can count on the Lopez's. Dani says they can count on the Corcega’s. Little Arqui asks if his father is coming. There is silence.

Pancho thanks his friend Ubaldo for everything he has done for them. Ubaldo is happy to be there and with both of them it will be much easier supporting Ari and little Arqui. Pancho agrees.

Oh! What a Tangled Web We Weave/When First We Practice to Deceive!" (Sir Walter Scott) Part 1

There are many components to the art of lying. Some lies are sugary sweet, spun as smooth as silk. Told glibly with a reassuring smile, these are easily accepted at face value. Others may not be presented as prettily, but are believed as they are seemingly rational and perceived as truthful. And finally, some are dismissed immediately as there is no conceivable logic behind them. But the most critical component is the source - the speaker’s character, trustworthiness and history. The necessity to know and understand the motivation behind the statements is crucial.

Even though all the signs point directly to him, Charly continues to deflect every accusation, every arrow. As one lie leads to another, the damage is compounded as his uttered words bear little if any resemblance to the truth. Although his lies pale to his other crimes, including murder, he must hold onto them for dear life, keeping them close as they are his only protection. As he continues to fail to grasp the severity of his situation, the web is starting to unravel and the consequences will be grave…

Puro Power with El Buho is hosting a live studio interview. El Buho’s special guests are Erick and Chris. Against her wishes, Yameli is also introduced. Yameli and Erick trade compliments and their mother/son connection is on obvious full display. You are a grand woman and mother he tells her. She has overcome so much. Yameli’s eyes fill up. She asserts her son is talented and there are shared besos. Next, Juan Jose is introduced and Surround Vibes is discussed. Oh no. Yameli and Juanjo are making goo goo eyes at each other, a fact not unnoticed by Rosalia. They are asked about their history and a series of flashbacks play. Juanjo and Yameli talk about how they've known each other 18 years and while it's been a long, difficult journey, it's also been a beautiful one. Yameli and (a younger, much more expressive and warmer version of) Juanjo listening to her tape, laughing and singing with Charly, Soul & Bass, a bittersweet throwback to their youth and innocence before Charly’s machinations separated the trio forever. Buho says tell us more about the competition and wishes are expressed to the effect may the best one win. Juanjo says he's looking for markets for their music outside of Mexico. Applause.

Chris receives no attention.

Charly comes in, sees Yameli and goes for the jugular. Erick, in full protective mode, tells him not to talk to her that way. She isn’t alone. Charly tells Erick your mother is the one who raised you. Not this lady. Yameli inserts herself telling Charly not to talk to her son that way. She goes on to taunt him about "how are you going to beat us? Can you write music? Can you compose?

Ima stalks out. Imbecile he tells Chris. In a moment that made me cheer, Chris looks at Charly through his yellow tinted glasses and makes a noise that sounds like a bark. At that moment, I wanted to reach through the TV and hug Chris. El Buho is trying to talk Charly down and suggests they do the interview another time when Charly is calmer. Charly, who never passes up a photo op, continues to pose with fans.

DJ Mike introduces Kapla and Miky.

Oh! What a Tangled Web We Weave/When First We Practice to Deceive!" (Sir Walter Scott) Part 2

Suddenly, the scene swtiches and Yameli and Contreras are visiting Mora in jail. Mora sings like a caged bird, admitting to inflating numbers at Charly's request. He didn't admit it before because he was protecting someone. Contreras tells him he has to keep cooperating if he wants to get out of prison. His testimony is key. It would be ideal if Charly would testify, but he won't.

Bad Hombre singing assasina. Next, Ruko performs as the screen show the votes are being tabulated.

Charly talking to his Fan Club President, complaining about Yameli and Sara (Zaria) , how they're both obsessed with him, telling lies about him. He wants her to spread the word that they are sick liars and do what they can to destroy these women. She is enthusiastic...we'd give our lives for you Charly she gushes as she strokes his hand. If there is any time for Purel, this is it. Ack.

Rosalia is all cozy with Juanjo, showing him the new webpage, talking about people in LA she wants him to meet. And they're about to have a video meeting with Benny Cardozo, a big name in the business. He's interested in Pez Koi and Chris.
Irma is beyond frustrated with her situation with Charly. Erick tries to calm her down by saying she can get out of the contract but Irma explains no, there would be a huge fine. Ligia arrives, asking Erick if he's talked to Charly. He tells her about their near fight and how he was abusive with his mom (Yameli). There's no dealing with Charly mom Erick states. Please open your eyes.

Next, a pivotal scene (at least for me). Rosalia and Juanjo are hard at work when Yameli comes in with Jack right on her heels. Jack takes in Rosalia and Juanjo with a look and an almost imperceptible smile. Yameli reacts with obvious jealousy putting her arm possessively on Jack with a bit of a challenging stare at Rosalia.

DJ Mike comes into Charly’s shrine (to himself) and catches him up on the voting, which is leaning toward Luxor. That’s not good enough because when Charly looks at the stats, Surround Sound it’s close to a tie. Charly complains about the press but Mike says there is no bad press. Charly dismisses hm even as he continues to tell him how good Luxor is.

Oh! What a Tangled Web We Weave/When First We Practice to Deceive!" (Sir Walter Scott) Part 3

Marlene's friend who she originally went to for help visits Contreras. He says his name is Abel. Told him how his friend contacted Charly because she had something that could get him in trouble with the law. Contreras asks what the recording was about. Abel said an angry woman, accusing Charly of crimes. Who gave her the recording? Toño. And she was short of money, so she went to Charly.Do you have the recording? He hands over the USB but refuses to say anything else, He states two people are already gone so he's outta there.

Contreras plays the tape Diana made of Charly with great relish. Charly lies (again) saying it isn’t him and Diana talking. Says he's familiar with all the tricks of audio montage and that's what this is. Despite his best efforts, he can’t get Charly to admit it is he talking. Charly continues to deny, deny, deny, getting indignant "how dare you come into my office and accuse me of this. I'm sick and tired of all you people hounding me”.

The Surround Sound video conference ensues, discussing strategy of expanding market. Benny lauds Juanjo as a monster producer. Says he's on board because Jack is a terrific producer also. There's talk of working through social media, virtual platforms, digital platforms. Expanding to Latin America and then to the US. Just as a side note, Juanjo’s white T shirt seemed strangely out of place.

Caroline struts into Charly's office, relaying that Mora talked, saying it was all Charly's doing. Ricardo has the recording where Charly was making Diana sign papers. That gives Charly a motive. Charly goes into a little tantrum about how everybody is against him, Yameli , detectives, all ganging up on him.

Then he throws Caro under the bus. I didn't have enough money to keep Mora quiet because you took your cut out of the price paid for my apartment. She counters that she can get him another lawyer if he wishes. That makes him pull back on accusations.

Caroline says she needs to find out who the judge on the case will be and make sure he doesn't hear the recording.

Rosalia and Jack are in the studio having a heart to heart talk as she leans in toward his chair. They discuss strategy to promote Chris and Erick as well as other artists they want to push with Benny Cardozo. She mentions that Jack is in love and Juanjo is surprised. She says didn't you know that he and Yameli are dating? Then she tries to encourage him to re-locate to the United States. Open a new headquarters [sede], promising that great things await him. He says he wants to stay in Mexico to see his child grow up. Something is telling me this isn’t exactly going as planned. At least for Rosalia.

Oh! What a Tangled Web We Weave/When First We Practice to Deceive!" (Sir Walter Scott) Part 4 (Final)

Vanessa and Serge are visiting Charly in his office as Erick and Irma arrive. There is another confrontation as Erick criticizes him for how he's treating Yameli, Irma and himself. Pretending to the public that he's a great dad when he hasn't even sought Erick out. Accuses him of being a hypocrite and an "abusador". Vanessa is very upset. Even Serge tries to get him to back off.

Yameli is talking to Ricardo on her cellphone while jogging. He wants to know if anyone else can verify what she's saying. Yes. Axel.

Charly and Caro are getting cozy with more drinks. She's found out that the judge in his case was her law school professor and he liked her very much. (she said "maestro en la universidad" but I assume it's law school prof. Anyway, she will make sure he doesn't allow the tape in. Charly talks about suing Yameli for defamation and complains that she's obsessed with him.

Caroline turns the tables by asking: Isn't it that you are obsessed with her? Our affair was 18 years ago. No, I mean with Lari Caro retorts. Aren't you in love with her?

Charly questions is that why you've been holding back and keeping our relationship strictly professional?

He slithers closer, saying she is the only woman he's thinking about is the only woman he has...her. His accomplice. And moves in for the kill.

Irma and her father (with Erick for support) are at Juanjo’s to beg Wendy for forgiveness. Irma explains that her father has paid a fine, is doing community service and has had his license taken away. He wants to apologize, saying how ashamed and repentant he is. Juanjo seems to accept it. Wendy doesn’t look too forgiving. A little late isn't it? she answers.

He really wants to work and pay off the fines and her hospital costs. Wendy says it's hard for her to accept since the accident put her child at risk. Juanjo smooths it over. Irma's dad says he is going to stop drinking for the sake of his daughter who has opened his eyes.

Charly is showering as Yameli sings in the background (mercifully not in person). Flashback to Marlene’s shooting and then pushing her body off the cliff.

Erick is at Surround Sound recording and Juanjo talks about him competing in Urban Teens. He assures him he's so good he will be in the Finals. Then takes him out door where he is surprised by his very own fan club of hysterical girls. And so the ascent begins.

Next is a scene at the playground where Serge sells his wares. Charly has done a video ad for him touting Blin Blin Movil. Serge smiles in delight.

Yameli is talking to Ricardo. She spoke to Axel who confirmed the story but is afraid to talk to the police. He knows Charly too well and is afraid of him.

But she is NOT afraid.

JUNTOS Part 3

It is the next day and funeral floral arrangements decorate Polita’s place. Ari brings out Polita’s ashes with Temo by his side. Everyone is there. One more visitor appears. It is Audifaz Ari’s and little Arqui’s father. He is holding his (stupid ) hat and not wearing it. Little Arqui sees him and goes running to him. Audi picks him up and holds him. Ari looks in horror at his father standing there. Audifaz says he has looked through all of the philosophers for something to say and he hasn’t found a single word but he can say that does love Ari and little Arqui. Ari cannot even look at him. He kisses Ari on his head. Ari give his mother’s eulogy and talks about not taking time or people for granted and not valuing what we have. We make the mistake thinking that people are going to always be with us. They had the most marvelous mother in the world. From the day they were born she let them be free. She always tried to push on ahead for them through all kinds of adversity. She was a great example of never giving up the fight. He pledges to his mother that he will be the man she would want him to be and that he and his brother will never let each other go. They will remember their Polita and love her for all eternity it’s. He and little Arqui kiss the box with her ashes. We hear Polita telling the boys to always take care of each other.

Suddenly it is weeks later and it is breakfast time. Ari, Temo, Diego. Carlota and little Arqui are having breakfast. Arqui ta,is about waking up and his mother not being there. Ari says he has the four of them. Pancho pops up saying not only four. He has come with a load of fruit and vegetable for the kids and a jigsaw puzzle for little Arqui. Pancho is going to take Arqui to school. Ari thanks him but he will take him. Eduardo comes in next saying it is his turn to take little Arqui. Next it is Elsa and Soledad with gifts and Dora and Nora. Dora says it is her turn today to take little Arqui to school. Nobody agrees with her. Ubaldo arrives with a portrait of Polita and Audifaz arrives with a bouquet of flowers to place next to it. Little Arqui goes to get the flowers from his dad.

Audifaz comments about Polita’s great smile and her optimism. Ari is not too sure. Audifaz tells him he doesn’t have to be strong all of the time. He can count on him. Ari is worried about little Arqui seeing him as being weak. Audifaz knows he is brave and a warrior and tells him that showing tears does not weaken anyone. He talks to Ari about the importance of memories. Audifaz wants Ari to remember he is not alone. He exists for Ari and little Arqui. In tears he admits to not being the best father. He is imperfect but he and little Arqui are the most perfect things that life has given him. He loves both of them. He offers Ari his hand as he did when Ari was a baby. Ari takes it.

JUNTOS Part 4

Ari and Temo meet with Pancho. Ari is concerned about little Arqui. He appreciates all of the help but he thinks it would be best for little Arqui to have some stability living in one house. Pancho says that Ari wants him to have a real father. Ari says yes that is it.. He also knows they have options. There is his father Audifaz but he doesn’t want little Arqui to be taken away. Pancho says leave it to him. He will talk father to father with Audifaz and also with Eduardo.

It looks like Ari has turned into an Uber driver and is practicing with Temo (????)

At the university Collins (who is the communications instructor. It finally hit me. Sure shows how I listen more than watch. Duh!) runs into Soledad. He misses seeing her at the café. She reminds him she is a married woman. He thinks she is a very unhappy married woman. He will be at the café whenever she decides to return.

Pancho talks to Eduardo. He has been concerned about little Arqui, too. He is interested in adopting little Arqui. Pancho says to go talk to Ari and Temo and also Audifaz.

Ari thinks that he and Temo are a great team and that it would be a good idea for them to adopt little Arqui. Temo is not so sure. He doesn’t want to do anything too hastily And make a mistake.Temo is not sure they would be good parents and they have so many challenges ahead themselves.

Carlota tells her brother Andrés’ photo that she will find out the truth about what happened to him no matter the cost.

Elsa and Oleg are getting along much better. They are even kissing.

Audifaz, Eduardo and Pancho talk with Ari and Temo. They have come to a decision. Eduardo would like to adopt little Arqui. Ari Suddenly gets very angry and upset and says NO!

Isarnio pays Ubaldo a visit. Isarnio decided to investigate Carlota and he has found out plenty. Carlota has been investigating amd keeping tabs on Ubaldo. Isarnio hands him a folder with the info. Isarnio says she even found out that Andrés died on his property. He asks Ubaldo if he has ever thought that Carlota was not in love with him but was using him to find out the truth. Ubaldo asks if she was capable of this and then concludes that she betrayed him.He tells Isarnio to talk to ????? to take care of this Carlota matter.

JUNTOS Part 5

Audifaz tries to talk some sense to Ari. He knows he is surprised but he can’t react like that. Ari says that Audi has been gone for so long how can he think that he and little Arqui being separated is good. Audi tells him that even though the birth of he and his brother had given great meaning to his life, he never realized that he and Polita were on different wavelengths. She was the mother they needed to become the best men and he Audi was at his best as the absent father. Ari doesn’t get it. Audi explains that sometimes people have to be separated from their loved ones to give them the best opportunity to grow. Ari, Arqui and his mother needed a new life to reach their potential and they found it through love: he with Temo and his other with Eduardo. Ari still doesn’t get how he could let Eduardo adopt little Arqui. Audi has to admit that they live far away from him. He knows they will be able to have the best chance here. Ari insists he could be a great dad with Temo to little Arqui. Audi tells him that he and Temo are in no way ready to be parents. Life sends us lots of challenges.but it also shows us that God’s time is perfect. Each person is here for a reason. Ari thinks Eduardo is a great guy. Audi adds that he loves little Arqui as if he were his own. Ari will be able to see him everyday. Eduardo isn't taking him anywhere. Audi has to be in Oaxaca to take care of Ari’s grandma and his uncle Eugenio who has gotten to a point where he doesn’t even know his own name. Audi knows that Ari will make the right decision. He kisses Ari and puts his arm around hm.

Carlota comes chattering into the apartment where Ubaldo is waiting for her. He starts out saying how hard of a blow the death of Andrés was for her family. He tells her that he and Ani were really close. His suicide was devastating to him. She smiles and asks that he tell her more because she likes to hear about her brother. She says she knows who Ubaldo is and everyday she is near him she discovers more and more. Well, Ubaldo says he knows who she is, too, and who he is for her. He is there to fulfill all of her expectations. . . .

It was so funny when they announced “últimas semanas” tonight. There are only 13 episodes left so it would have to be “últimas semanas” .
With only 26 episodes to begin with, it could have been “últimas semanas” drom episode #1. This is all too funny!

Wow! Audifaz had really changed. His view was so unselfish. He and Pancho were right that Eduardo was the best choice to adopt little Arqui.

More tomorrow.

As always Diana, you blew me away with your opening paragraphs. I look forward to reading those. It's like having a wonderful, far-ranging conversation with someone over issues and human tendencies that really matter...and can sometimes be so troubling.

But I love your sense of humor too...

You made me laugh with this:

Charly is showering as Yameli sings in the background (mercifully not in person)

I know you were dead tired last night. So was I. But you were still cracking wise. Thanks amiga. You're the best.

JUNTOS

What a pleasure to read the recap with breakfast. Jarifa, you are so speedy! Wow, ultimas semanas almost after the first semana.

Too sad for me to watch the entire episode, but I did watch enough to see that the Ari actor did a fine job. Glad they sliced and diced this part, too raw with grief.

I am surprised that Audi is willing to let Eduardo adopt Ari. I agree it's the right thing to do. Eduardo has been like a father to Ari. Frankly, I was surprised Ari was so happy to see Audi after he hasn't been around him for so long. I'm not a lawyer, but I would advise Ari to get in the adoption contract that Eduardo can't move away without Ari's consent.

Audi's point that he is taking care of his mother Imelda and brother Eugenio has elevated myy opinion of him. We knew Eugenio's Alzheimer's would get worst.

I am up for anything that puts an end to me having to see Ubaldo and Carlota making out -- except her death of course. Hope she figures out he's on to her before it's too late.

REINA-SOY

Judy, I am glad you enjoyed the prologue. Charly has just been amazingly resilient, hasn't he? And to be honest, I am still surprised he has had absolutely no change of heart about Erick, especially as his one redeeming quality is his love for his daughter.

Axel is wise to be wary of what Charly will do if he betrays him.

I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your hard work and dedication this week, despite your many other obligations. Selfless and generous. Always.

Diana

Diana, I am still reading the recap, but I had to stop for a moment to tell you how much i enjoyed "_Charly's shrine to himself " ha..that says it perfectly. He has really fallen into the abyss that Yam opened for him. I LOVE this show , and I LOVE to read your wellwritten, insightful recaps. You are doing a fantastic job of analyzing all the twists and turns, angst, and drama as this tale slowly unfolds. Your recaps mesmerize me . Thank you, Diana and Judyb. I just finished reading the recap. Spectacular. Thank you so much . I look forward to the recap and comments every day. I wonder how they will wind this tale up. I'm also wondering why the whole thing about Irma's father hitting Wendy was brought into the story this late. I thought when it happened that the writers were killing off Wendy to clear the way for the starcrossed lovers . WEll, we are now hurtling towards the finale and will have to wait and see what should and rewards the writers decided to give out to these folks.

Susanlynn, I really appreciate your supportive, kind words. To say Charly has an outsize ego would simply be an understatement, wouldn't it? And really, could anyone possibly love him more than he loves himself?? Doubtful.

I know Judy and I were both exhausted last night so your support means a great deal. You always read things thoroughly and give the characters and events great consideration. Your comments are thoughtful and always enjoyable.

Yes, I really thought that Wendy would die or miscarry. I mean, that still could happen. I do think the writers might be cognizant of the fact viewerville might not be comfortable with Juanjo and Yameli together in view of his wife and/or child, so something will happen but for the life of me, can't figure out what that is.

Susanlynn, FYI: Polita’s death and funeral were covered and finished in this episode. We are rolling on with the aftermath and Ubaldo’s nefarious deeds.

Niecie, I was quite impressed by the new Audifaz who sort of seemed like the original Audifaz with the benefit of some self-awareness. I never expected his reactions or advice to be so selfless. Yes! Ubaldo all over Carlota is stomach turning.

Thank you, Diana and Judy.

When Charly walked into Puro Power for the interview, he was alone. The other side had Eric, Chris, Yameli, Juanjo, even Irma. Charly was alone. In the past, he would have had Axel and Diana in his corner, but no more. Compare that with Yameli, who started alone and constructed her circle.

"Suddenly, the scene switches and Yameli and Contreras are visiting Mora in jail." - it is like Yameli assumed her role of police collaborator, like before, with Rizzo. She is getting Mora to speak, she is trying to get Axel to speak. Contreras should get her on the payroll.

"Charly’s shrine (to himself)" - that mural of himself is something. People have pictures of their children on their desk. Charly probably has his own picture on his desk.

"Charly has done a video ad for him touting Blin Blin Movil" - not clear how that came to be. I think Vanesa applied some pressure on Charly (off screen) to play well with her boyfriend and Charly agreed.

JUNTOS. Excellent and complete recap, Jarifa! I do think the best decision was made about Eduardo adopting Arqui, since he is practically the only father he knows, though the characters had to go through a bit of convoluted reasoning to get there. I agree that Audifaz is being exceptionally selfless to look after Eugenio and his mother. Oh, oh, Carlota! Watch out! Though I have no doubt that she will somehow manage to foil Ubaldo.

Lucio, I always enjoy your comments but particularly this:"Charly was alone. In the past, he would have had Axel and Diana in his corner, but no more. Compare that with Yameli, who started alone and constructed her circle".

Very well said.

And while I worry about Vanesa in the aftermath of Charly's downfall, she will have the love and support of all those he cast aside. As well as from Ligia, whose heart will also be broken.

Yes, I think Van put the pressure on Charly to do the endorsement. I think we missed quite a bit of eye rolling on Charly's part.

Hi, all,

I can't wait to see what happens tomorrow night. I wonder what Charly is taking in that eyedropper. Even though there is no way out for Charly, he is still thinks he is irresistible to the mujers. CAro, you are an idiot.

Considering Vanessa is the one, who had Yameli arrested.

SpanProf, it sure will be interesting to see what happens to Ubaldo in the end.

Jarifa, your recap was wonderful. Truly. You convey emotions, particularly heartbreak beautifully.

"He and little Arqui kiss the box with her ashes" and "He offers Ari his hand as he did when Ari was a baby. Ari takes it" hurt my heart.

After seeing Polita die, I had to process a bit before I read this. To be honest, the way she fell to the floor, without any visible suffering and dying immediately, I was certain she suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm. Although my outcome was different, it hit a bit too close to home. I was surprised to read she died of a stroke. But no matter, the heart of this has died.

"Eduardo tells Ari and everyone that everything has been arranged. He knows that he has a father but he would like to take care of him and Arqui because he loves them so much. He’d never leave them not cared for". Eduardo has my vote. Unconditionally.

As others have commented, it was somewhat gratifying to see Audi has reverted to the kind and loving man we knew long ago. Life has been hard for him, but he has learned. And progressed. And it seems fitting that he has accepted caring for his parents. His maturation has given him the strength of spirit and character he had sorely lacked.

"Temo is not sure they would be good parents and they have so many challenges ahead themselves". Of course he's correct. Ari is not ready to take this on. He should concentrate on continuing to be the best possible big brother he can. On this, he has already excelled.

Audi "is holding his (stupid ) hat and not wearing it" made me smile. Greatly needed Jarifa.

Thank you for your sensitive and full rendition.

Diana, “the heart of this has died” is so true. I remember Polita way back in MMTF where she was so ditzy but always lovable and full of love herself. It was heartwarming to see her come in to her own as she was developed as a character and found contentment in her self-development and joy in her children and steadfast Eduardo.

Laura Flores (Soledad) was interviewed this morning. She just turned 56 and looks fabulous. If I understood the interview, she owns a dog grooming business.

Susanlynn and Diana, wishing you both comfort. When the TNs cut too close to home as Juntos did for me too, it's wonderful that we can share our feelings.

OT

I remember reading that Uni would start airing Destilando Amor again, at 1 a.m. East Coast time. Looks like it's begun. If I'm ever up that late, I will check it out for old times.

Hi , Niecie. So nice to see you here. How long have you been in the patio ?

Thank you Jarifa!

Niecie, thank you for your kind words. It's wonderful that we can support each other when we need it, isn't it? Sending those comforting words right back to you...

And as you know, Ed is my all time favorite! I'm not up that late but if I have insomnia, I know where to go!

Diana, yes, I love Big Ed. I guess we will never be able to see him in another telenovela. Que lastima.

Susanlynn and Diana, Big Ed had a small part in Telemundo’s recent “La Reina del sur 2” playing a governor so he is still out there working.

I am looking forward to La Usurpadora in September. Will anyone be providing a recap for that show? I always appreciate everyone's recap since I understand about 75% of what is being said but I miss a lot without the recaps.Lester

Susanlynn, I first became a regular on the patio during Uni's midnight showing of La Verdad Oculta back in 2011. I look back with fondness at our dedicated recappers and sharp commenters, all very sleep-deprived but enjoying the heck out of that TN with Big Ed.

Big Ed has been over on Telemundo recently, playing a most despicable villain in La falsa identidad and had a brief role as a politician in La reina del sur 2.

Niecie...thanks for the info about Big Ed. I miss him. I don't get Telemundo. Caray Caray has been a long, wild ride , hasn't it ?
