Santi wants his buddy included in the prison break, nope, but when a couple guys bother him, Hulk Jota throws them through the walls, Shadow warms up (this is kind of a boyfriend prison).
Hilda shows up for at Sal's office and Joana totally trashes her and her work, leaving, Sal tries to stop her.
Calvo is working Al with the promise to see his son, running here and there, finally they meet, Calvo will take him in his taxi, is Diabla behind this Al asks, Maybe Calvo replies, maybe not, Al puts on the hood, Calvo hits him in the face. (not sure what everyone knows about Diabla but she warned Calvo to not let Al know she has a new face)
CataG breaks with her team, she is going to the exchange alone.
Mateos the magazine guy calls Joana, his favorite source, thanking her for the Hilda lead.
CataG gets picked up by the "men in black", a slick dude looking for a ride plants a tracker on their car.
CataM and Nachi, for just a moment express their love, (and I'm loving the Nachi back scene, is that Bogota?), but wait Sandra has posted their selfies online, which Nachi sees.
Jota tells the guys it's something inside him that prevents him from dying and saved him from the drug, doc Santi looks lost, top guard Acevedo comes to collect Jota for the damage he caused, the shadow gang stands beside him, they all go to solitary.
CataG arrives at the exchange site in the dessert, the negotiations heat up (what? there is just little unarmed Cata and everyone else is a bad guy), Val looks beatup and Mari harassed, CataG is nervous, not to worry, our boy Mike and a dozen sharp shooters lay on the ridge nearby, and the bullets rain down on all.
Titi gets CataG to safety behind a trailer, she betrayed him, she dies, but he breaks, he has always loved her, she kisses him.
what to do, Titi hands CataG the gun, the only way you will get out of here alive is if you take me hostage, she does.
ah but Rocco has Mari, hmm, as they stare each other down, CataG shoots Rocco, has Val get Mari, (Val has to play along), they jump in a black SUV, dump Titi and are off, Titi, Rocco and the boys jump in Titi's Suv (of course it's white), Mike and some of his gang jump in theirs and the dessert chase is on, CataG is lost without a GPS. (are Suv colors like the hats in old cowboy movies)
Hand gets the news, some (Moncho) think Titi is not worthy of the cartel.
Sal quizzes Jo, of course she was objective of Hilda's designs, that's what he pays her for, Jo questions if Sal has lost his objectivity, she kisses him, declares her love.
Hilda wanders the streets alone, looking at the window fashions, much like hers.
gun shot tires force CataG off the road, she holds Titi's gang off with his gun, as Mike's snipers arrive, the bad guys have to go, Val and Mari are unconscious, (or following veteran Diabla's plan).
CataG hugs her daughter.

Preso No. 1 - Capítulo 23 - Jueves - Parte 1 de 2
Carmelo and Clara are sitting together on the beach. He tells her he'll ask his people if they can help her. She says she realizes that he's in an even worse situation than she is. She's reluctant to go back. The captain will beat her. Carmelo and Clara kiss. And....
Diana is interviewing Hortensia. She asks about Carmelo's life as a young man, he and his brother. Hortensia asks why she had used the name "Melo," since no one had ever used that name. Diana brings the interview to a close. Once out of the house, she phones Ricardo and leaves a message saying that Pia's interview with Tuerto was a sham, no one ever used the name "Melo."
A hooded man watches Hortensia's house and then knocks on her door. She asks who's there. No answer. She threatens to call the police. He knocks again. This time he says "Open, Ma." She recognizes Voyo's voice. Opens the door. They hug. He tells his mother that he loves Carmelo and would never betray him. He referred to him in the interview as "Melo" to show that he was lying. He also tells his mother that she's in danger. They all are. She gives him a medal for protection.
Iturbe tells someone at the Judge's office that he is an intern from the President's office, and he's supposed to learn what he can about the Judge. If he can't do this, he'll lose his scholarship. She allows him to stay.
Francisco tells Caro he's quitting. We then have a flashback from two years ago, when Francisco also tried to quit. He finds it very hard to work on behalf of his best friend when he's in love with his best friend's wife, but he doesn't say this. He just says he's quitting for personal reasons. Carmelo tells him he can't resign at this critical time.
In another flashback, Miranda meets with a woman whom I don't recognize (Josefina?). She tells the woman that she's bored and unhappy with being always on display. Carmelo barely notices her. Two women--Caro and Virginia--are more important to him than she is. She thinks that the way she can make him notice her is to become pregnant. The woman tells her that no man falls in love with a woman because of a child.
In the present, Miranda tells Emanuel that she's pregnant, and that the baby is Carmelo's.
In another flashback, Miranda meets with Lazcano. He asks her whether there's been any talk about BADA. It's some financial stuff. She doesn't know much. He tells her to pay attention to that, we need info. If we don't get it....He doesn't want anything bad happening to her.
Dosal tells Benito that Mayorga may give in. Dosal has made him a sham proposition, offering an honorable exit, a post at an embassy, etc., in exchange for a complete confession about the plan to eliminate President Carmelo Alvarado, with participation from magnates of the Islas Group. Mayorga insists on talking only to Benito. OK, says Benito. Bring him to me.
Judge Linares comes out of his office and tells his aide that he's finished reviewing the materials. She should send a copy of the report to the Judicial Council and to the Secretariat of the Interior so they can notify the press. And then she should set up a press conference for the Judge. He indicates that there's been a miscarriage of justice. Iturbe hears him say all this. The judge asks who he is. Iturbe says he's a presidential intern and he's preparing a report. The judge wants to see the report. Iturbe asks to go to the bathroom first. Once out of the office, he calls Benito and tells him what he's heard. He's about to go back when two men race into the judge's office. The judge angrily and nervously insist that they leave. They do. The judge then calls his wife and asks whether she's OK, as well as their daughter and grandchildren. He asks to speak to one of them (to assure himself that they're really OK).

At Islas Marias the next morning, a no-longer-drunk Segovia comes to see Carmelo and seems to be very friendly. But that doesn't last. He remembers everything that happened the night before, and he keeps hitting Carmelo. Two men have to carry Carmelo back to his room and put him on the bed. Segovia asks him where the pistol is. Carmelo claims he doesn't know what Segovia is talking about. He orders the men to search the room.
The news is out. The Judge is about to release Carmelo. Benito tells Dosal there's been a change of plans. He wants Mayorga to plead with them to help him. He knows that they're the only ones who can help him. Dosal is confused. He thought the offer was all a sham. Benito says that now we're in a position of power. Mayorga knows that with Carmelo back as president, he's done for. He needs us. [I'm finding this rather confusing.]
We see them setting up the chairs for the press conference. Ricardo tells Diana that they're going to release Carmelo.
At Caro's, everyone gathers round to see the Judge address the press: Caro, Miranda, Sara, Isabel, Francisco, and the housekeeper (whose name escapes me at the moment), all happily excited. The judge begins by saying that there is no evidence of guilt in the matter of Virginia Carranza's death, and so he is dismissing the charges against Carmelo. As for the other charges, the judge finds that that prosecution had good cause to charge Carmelo. He must remain in prison for a term of not less than six months nor more than two years. Everyone is stunned. Caro is in tears. The episode ends.
I think it's highly likely that the two men who rushed into the Judge's office warned him that if he made the wrong decision, his family would be hurt. That's why he called his wife to make sure that they were all OK.

deb, I didn’t get a chance yesterday to thank you for your detailed recap or to comment on #13.
I’m waiting for more Catamedia & Nachi. Let’s get back to basics. Their story was the driver for Sin Seños Sí and it was epic. If CataM is in danger, Nachi will be there with shaved head and gun in hand!
Catagrande as the lady in red (and Titi in white), very interesting. Supposedly the lady in red was the prostitute that helped bring down gangster John Dillinger.
Another great recap for #14, deb.
Sal: clueless, spineless? Can he handle the tell all on Hilda? Can he cut it on the mean streets of Pereira? He ain’t seen nothin’ yet. Poor Hilda, dreaming of her fashions in the boutique window.
Glad Albeiro had the sense to ask Calvo the Diabla question. There was never any confirmation of her death. As far as I know, only Calvo, Titi, Las Babys and the XY4 Cartel know the truth.
The exchange was ridiculous and a disappointment for me. The only good part was CataG and Titi behind the trailer. Rocco questions Titi’s loyalties and the XY4 guys have it in for Titi. Don’t underestimate him. deb, getting deep with the SUV color symbolism, and it’s in reverse. Very interesting!
Ha, ha, Moncho wants that brat Mariana---be careful what you wish for.
The interaction between mother and brat, with a little Diabla on the side, is going to be interesting.

Thanks so much, Juanita for the fine recap. We really appreciate it. I know you said you only had time for a few lines, but you went above and beyond!
Color me confused. I can't figure out how simply using "Melo" is going to undo the damage of Voyo saying Carmelo lied about a missing brother. And, if Pia is as scummy as she's seemed all along, how come that video appears to be under the control of the newspaper staff and has not hit the Mexican version of TMZ?
Segovia really hurt Carmelo. The first blow we could not see, but later we see that he hit him several times with a baton.
So, I assumed Crazy Joe's bed partner was dead. But the woman, with a sheet barely covering her breasts, was on Judge Linares' computer. I assume a threat came along with it. Is this woman related to the judge? More confusion.
And, I'm getting really, really tired of bad guys winning all the time. There's been no indication of how long this novela will run. I don't hold out much hope that Mayorga will be the big breakthrough, ratting on Pedro Islas about the plot. That might be the case if we were in ultimos capitulos, but it seems we're not.

But Paola is ‘laying-in-the-cut’..with a Yakuza[ thanks Deb]…
Albireo solicits Carlos help to support Hilda during his ‘trip’..Carlos is more- than -down -for- that.. always willing to help..Hilda..poor child.
Jota and Santiago is discussing the reasons he is in jail… and how he may never reunite with CG, dude, If you’re lucky …you won’t..
CG, has not GIVEN THAT MAN… WHO-SACRIFICED HIS CAREER AND LIFE AND FATHERED HER 2 CHILDREN …ONE ‘F’ING THOUGHT..
CATAMEDIA, needs to kick Sandi to the curb, what happen to Vale?? She and Lucy escaped the ghoul Martin, but outcome..???
Sandi the BBF,needs to- stay- in -her- lane, stop sabotaging/underminding CM and Dario’s relationship ,with her slick /half-ass, I am your friend but, I will -throw-shade- moves.. Come on Sandi ,,real Freudian slip..with the snapchat/Instagram of CM hugging Gabe.. and blasting it into the tubiverse..
Al and Hilda have come to amiable relationship, she knows he is sick, and her heart tells her, he may be dying..
He may be ill / rundown, but he came thru for barney /jota/ fief and got him a lawyer.
Dang!..Gabe, has pull/clout , he knows people.. he got- the- hook -up with a very prestigious attorney and Jota may be exonerated. But, it will have to be months from now, cause the jail break is on…Jota may not want to leave ,but like they said that process takes months or years.. so, pack your gear -cause-we-out !!

IT ALL resumed in an airshaft.. CG was spying on Black Hand.. when Titi arrives with a gun next to her head. The one good thing that came from the hospital scenes was the info on Valeria’s facial scarring. One piece of the Diabla puzzle. Was Diabla ever fingerprinted? Was she able to change her prints, too? I don’t remember. How would Valeria get past that ID?

Here are some things I remember from last night's episode, in no particular order.
In a flashback from 2 years ago, Joe/Carlos introduces himself to Virginia Carranza as Roger Brown. He claims they met at some event in the past. When the meeting she was supposed to have was cancelled, she goes off with Joe, whom she doesn't remember meeting before. He comes on to her. She's clearly vulnerable; she tells him that the man she wanted [Carmelo?] chose someone else [Miranda?]
Benito is outraged at the judge's decision. He rightly suspects that the judge was coerced. Benito's daughter, Josefina, wants him to stop being so stubborn. "Your grandson and I need you alive." He demands that Josefina leave. [I think Josefina is who Miranda confided in Thursday's episode.] Benito seems ready to throw caution to the wind, perhaps out of his feeling guilty for Carmelo's being jailed in the first place. He says to Dosal, "It's time to pay them [the bad guys] back in kind."
At least 3 or 4 times in this episode, Carmelo says he can't swim. Clearly, this will figure into the plot. I don't want to imagine how.
We see the ugly scene again where Segovia brutally beats Carmelo. It's not clear why we have to see this again. Perhaps it simply serves the sadistic needs of the novela's writers.
In a flashback, Sara doesn't want to live with Carmelo in the presidential palace. She knows that she'll be watched 24/7. She asks Caro why she and Isabel have to live with Carmelo and not with her.
Caro has apparently contacted Adan and Eva about helping get Carmelo off Islas Marias. Adan tells Eva he's thinking of a plan.
Hortensia is determined to see Carmelo. She tells Chinta and Gina, "If I have to kill to see him, I'll kill." [Way to go, Mama!]
Carmelo asks Segovia for help. He's in pain from the beating. Segovia tells him, "I could help you, but I don't want to.

Did the cartel offer this as a bribe to Carmelo personally? Or control him by making it easier to get projects done as president? Anyway, Guido’s plan B was to make it seem like Carmelo stole this money.
2 yrs ago: Emanuel asks about Francisco’s resignation plans. Francisco says it’s my duty. Emanuel says what about your duty to the project and us? (Specifically what project?)
Virginia’s fateful meeting: He looks familiar but she can’t remember. Ramses place during the campaign? Roger could have used a couple of style lessons from Lupo and where’s an Oleg when you need one? Poor Virginia.
Why does Pedro have so much affection for Guido? It’s over the top. No wonder Pedro’s son can’t stand Guido.
Pedro reports to Rupert: We ruined him, inform your boss. The cartel celebrates with a toast. A call from Rivas Macin comes in. Pedro says later for him!
Caro’s flashback to prison visit with Carmelo: Do you think she’s in on it? Who, Virginia? We have lots of enemies. Carmelo says trust only the major, Paco and Emanuel no one else. Miranda interrupts Caro’s flashback. I don’t care if you want to be alone now. I’m here for you…we’re here for you. (Carmelo said don’t trust anyone….)
The swimming thing worries me too, Juanita.
Ricardo critiques Diana’s article about Carmelo, Voyo and the Linares decision. He says it’s too personal we must deal in facts not opinion. Then he says he will publish it. OK…what would Chava do?
Payback’s a bitch: Rivas Macin gives an order to Dosal. Dosal is reluctant it’s against the law! Rivas: carry out this order or I’ll have you arrested and find someone else to do it! Deliver Mayorga’s body in pieces to Pedro’s doorstep!
Segovia gleefully gives Carmelo the bad news—he’s not getting released anytime soon.

Thanks so much for the starter, Juanita. You can tell I'm from the SF Bay Area because starter makes me think of both sourdough starter and SCOBY for kombucha. Guess I'm a living stereotype.
Regarding Carmelo's swimming, it appeared to me that Carmelo could sorta-kinda swim in the scene they've shown twice of he and Caro on the beach. She had to save him, but the statement was made that he swims, but very badly. And then he tells that new addition to the cast, another kindly prisoner to replace Toño as a sounding board, that he can't swim at all. Hmmm.
Yep, Rivas is ready to go rogue. Dosal is one straight-arrow guy and didn't want any part of Rivas' extra-judicial plans. Can't remember exactly how, but Rivas threatened him with removal from his position or something like that.
I remember Carolina insisting that Sara and Isabel live in the presidential residence with their father. And IIRC, in the first episode they showed her coming to pick them up and being refused entrance by some officious guard. Carmelo was telling her the articles she was writing about narcos were too dangerous and her at least hinting that that's why the girls cannot continue to live with her.
Well, Virginia turned out to be a sap. I would have thought she'd have been smarter than to go for those bleached teeth and way-too-early flattery and come-ons.
Dondi, I found your comment about the $222 million that Carmelo refused interesting. I thought it was a flat out bribe and apparently missed that it would actually have gone into the government for some quasi-legal purpose. And, yes, Pedro Islas' affection for Guido is baffling. The guy is repulsive. But he was the one who came up with making it appear Carmelo had taken this money, thus setting the whole plot of the novela in place.
I really hate these gloating villain scenes. First Islas, Juanito, Lazcano, Guido, and maybe others toasting with champagne over the judge's fallo. I had to look fallo up. I thought it meant a failure or a miss. It also means a ruling by a judge or a verdict by a jury. And then Segovia's gloating face when he tells Carmelo he's not getting released.

And so Guido's plan B carried the day. Sigh. And I've been scratching my head for a while now trying to understand Pedro's extreme fondness for Guido. Perhaps we'll have a flashback or two or three devoted to making it clearer.
I suspect that Roger/Carlos/Joe is too BSC to benefit from any lessons in style that Lupo could give. And yes, it's too bad Virginia (and some others as well) didn't have the benefit of an Oleg. I'm tempted to say that we all could use an Oleg. [2-minute break while I indulge in some lovely fantasies]

He then asked her not to say anything about this to anyone because he didn't want to have to admit to his daughter that he can't swim. And, of course, more recently, he said more than once to his new-found buddy that he can't swim. So my assumption is that he can do little more than splash around in shallow water. That's certainly the impression the writers are trying to give us.

hmm, I was referring to the security of the prison, looks pretty easy to escape, but then I'm starting to see that when they are on the beach there is a guard near by, except at night when they are having sex, or maybe not since Segovia showed up, and it's an interesting twist that Carmelo has his gun, and of course Segovia can't tell anyone that he was so stupid to let that happen. (I think it's a big no-no in the police world, getting shot by your own gun).
