DAYTIME TNs (#1): Y Mañana Ser Otro Día…Mejor y Mas - Week of Sept. 2, 2019
- 3 PM - Y Mañana Sera Otro Día…Mejor (Starts Tuesday, Sept. 3rd!)
Labels: coming in 2019, daytime, otro-dia
I wish this were on early evening. Daytime just doesn’t work very well for me. It has only 77 episodes, stars Angélica Vale and looks like it could be fun.
Recording has several advantages. I can back up to hear again something that I didn't get the first time, and if I still don't understand it I can back up and read the CC.
:-)

Hey, Andy! It looks like you enjoyed Mirada. : )
I very much enjoyed Mirada, but a little ambivalent about how they ended it.
andy
With Monica. Either way it sounds fun.
And light, especially after "mirada".
Nina, that would make for a funny story!
I only watched the first half and the summary I provided pretty much summed up the first half. I like that little half smile Moni tried hard not to show when Diana asked for her help in finding the "perfect" woman for Camilo...I could just see those thought bubbles she was having.
Well this opening telenovela episode shot out of the starting gate like a racehorse and never slowed down. I am worn out.
I didn't recognize Diego Olivera nor Alejandra Barros, at first. He was smiling (not looking like his best dog just died-lol) and she was not scowling like a crazy witch.
My mini-recaplet: (and it might be all wrong-lol)
- Moni is in love with her boss Camilo and daydreams that they are romantic.
- Diana has breast cancer, needs more tests, but she "knows" she will die just like her grandmother and great-grandmother(?) She wants Moni to find a replacement wife for Camilo ... "get a focus group together for it."
- Diana has not yet told her husband (Camilo) that she has cancer.
-Camilo and Diana's 17-year old daughter just found out she is pregnant, plans to have the baby and give it up for adoption. She has only told her abuela, so far.
- Camilo has a son he did not know he has (from an old girlfriend), who showed up and presented himself at the end of this episode.
These people all talked so fast, thank goodness I had the CCs on!
Doris, thanks for the "mini-recaplet"
:-)
That word itself made me laugh.
The only thing I would add is that Moni and her roommate already think Moni would be the ideal candidate since she has been in love with Camilo since forever. But Moni is portrayed as frumpy, overweight, and as appearing older than she is.
Is there a makeover in her future?
:-)

Oh Doris, thank you for the mini-recaplet. It is PERfect! "Well this opening telenovela episode shot out of the starting gate like a racehorse and never slowed down" You ain't kiddin'! I thought I had missed the first few minutes of the show, but, no, the beginning just blasted on...and on...and on. And I had a hard time following what, Jimena, the roomie, who seemed like her speech was on FFW. BUt it does look like it's gonna be a fun TN;s o I think I'll stick to it.
I absolutely loved little Nicolás (aka Captain Fox)...not just cute, but a very talented little boy.
And, yes, it was the grandmother and great-grandmother who died of cancer.
Andy, I don't think there is a makeover in the future. I agree about the overweight and older than she is, but she wasn't too frumpy (IMO)...at least not in the first half :-)
Looking forward to the rest of the patio joining us soon...
THANK YOU, Doris!!
Thanks for so much Doris...I tried to get interested but after the first segment I kind of faded out. Maybe as time goes on, I'll get more engaged. And I agree, without closed captions, it would be challenging. Loved your intro sentence though. Great way to start a mini-caplet!
I cannot take credit for "mini recaplet" ..... IIRC another Patio member coined that term and I borrowed it. 😎
At least over half the show is over.
I'm not formilar with the actress in the moni roll. But she seems capable.
They really presented that seemingly nice illegitiment son rather quicky. Now this had to be before he meant Diana. I hope this don't fizzle out.
They are moving fast.
Thanks for the mini recaplet. Lol cute
Name.
I saw Angelica Vale in La Fan a few years ago, over on Telemundo, and she was great in that role.
After watching stick figure leading ladies in every Hallmark movie and many telenovelas, it is refreshing to see a real-life body shape in our female protagonista role.
doris, yes Angélica Vale was wonderful in “La fan” but she was sheer comedic/dramatic perfection in “La fea más bella”. I caught a few minutes of Mañana at about 1:30 am as I was finishing my recap for “Juntos . . .”. After reading your “mini recaplet”, it looks like it will be moving quickly.
Agree, this got off to a kick-ass start.
--Loved Rafael's arrival on a motorcycle and how sweet he was to Monica for setting up the meeting with Camilo. Interesting that it was Rafael who fudged who he was to Diana, when introduced to her, but Camilo was the one who just flat out announced Rafael was his son.
--I think we are going to have to call Camilo Pajama Man if he keeps it up in the future. I was surprised he would show up for a family dinner in his pjs. Couldn't he at least have grabbed a robe?
--Well, since Monica and Camilo are the leads in this, we have to presume Diana dies somewhere along the line. I think it would be a wonderful quirk if she DOESN'T die and Monica turns to Rafael. Well, it's the age difference....why did they have her turning 40? They could just as accurately made her 35.
--I hardly recognized Florencia del Saracho as Ximena, Monica's roommate (whom I saw in CME and Amor Bravio in non-comedic roles). Carlos tries to keep his favorites together (including Alejandra Barros, Socorro Bonilla, Emmanuel Palomares and Diego Olivera from Mujeres de Negro). I'm not sure I like the frenetic pace. So far, Diego sort of reminds me of himself in Amorcito Corazon (not a Carlos Moreno production), sort of clueless and a bit scatterbrained father of 3 daughters, but certainly lovable.
So far so good! I liked seeing the man of the house dressed on PJ’s I have such a hard time believing people keep their work clothes on once they get home. Tired of seeing the dad in his suit at dinner
Diego Olivera looked great.
Lots of new novelas in the next few weeks
I was watching Amor Eterno which was very good. Then I read by accident the ending
All I am going to say is “Beware spoilers!”
Mely
So far I'm quite impressed with and interested in this TN. I think I'm a daytime TN kind of guy. The late night "adult" fare is just too scary for me.
:-)
I do wonder if Camilo is channeling Hugh Hefner, being in his PJs so much.
What was Diana sniffing when she was going to kiss Camilo? That scene had me confused. (OK, not hard to do, granted)
andy
Andy—
Not sure where this scene is, the one that you were puzzled by. If it happened before Diana asked Moni if Cami had another woman, well, in the old days, someone else’s perfume was always a give-away he had another woman.
She might of been sniffing at some other moment because she was going to miss his aroma when she was “gone.”
In the bedroom shirt scene, she didn’t sniff it. He took it off to put on his pjs and maybe she was deciding whether it needed to be laundered.
Ok, now it’s time to watch today’s episode. Will be back.
If you all can wait, I’ll give you the highlights in an hour or so. It’s quite delightful. Glad I’m really liking Angelica Vale. I’ve never seen her before in anything.
Diana seems very accepting of Rafa, the recently surfaced son. She has a lightbulb moment to go find his mother. She might be a good candidate for Camilo The Widower.
Camilo arranges to have dinner with someone. Moni thinks it’s with the baby-mother and she’s quite jealous, not knowing Almudena lives in Miami.
Abue and Regina talk to an adoption agency official. When Reggie learns she can’t choose the adoptive parents, she’s done. She reminds Abue not a word to anyone. She’s following her mother’s advice—don’t bring any problems until there is a solution. She’s hurrying away and runs into, literally, a couple, Manuel and Margarita, who overhear she’s pregnant and whoopee, they want to adopt a baby. Abue doesn’t think this is the correct thing to do—they are laws, procedures. Reggie insists they have to do it her way.
Xi wants Moni to crash the Camilo/baby-mama dinner. She’ll even get her all dolled-up. But Cam’s date is with Diana. Di thinks Dr. Juan spilled the cancer beans. They talk at cross-purposes, in between a lot of kissing and we need to stick together in this. Then Rafa arrives, to Di's relief. But then Moni arrives, too. Cami notices Moni—she looks so different. Di notices him noticing her and insists Moni join them for dinner. She says she’s expecting “un amigo” and only stays through their singing “Las Mañanitas.”
Cam learns Almudena will probably never leave Miami to come to Mexico.
Diana has a wake-up moment when she follows Moni into the ladies room. She decides, based on how Cami looked at Moni when she first arrived, that Moni’s the perfect replacement. Moni demurs. She’s transparent to Cam; she’ll never be anything more than his secretary. Nevertheless, Di is sure that Moni “likes” (te gusta) Cam. She insists Moni join them for dinner, much to Cam's discomfort because this was to be a "family" affair.
Moni gets the rescue call from Xi, except it’s not Xi, it’s Nora advising that the office alarms went off. Moni gets up to leave. Di insists Cam go with her.
Di shows up and Moni’s and Xi’s apartment early the next morning to discuss what happened the night before. Moni swears she never admitted to liking Cami. Xi sticks her 2 cents along with her foot into the conversation. But of course it’s true. Xi is thrilled when Di begs Moni to conquistar Cam. After several provocations, Moni finally admits she’s in love with Cam and has been for a long time. Di is much relieved.
That night Di insists that they ask Rafa to dinner at the house. She's sure everything will go swimmingly.
I didn't mention that Reggie has started to have the symptoms of morning sickness. Also that she saw Cristobal sneaking back home and is probably drunk.
No villains so far, but when he is, Fabian Robles is a good one.
No Anita we haven't. And I'll bet he's a piece of work too. Teenage hotty, all girls think he hung the moon. He keeps
His brains in His pants. O Yeah al the
Bobble headed girls thinks he's cute.
I really hope it wasn't a teacher.
I thought Di alreday knew moni was in Love with cami.
There ain't nothin sexy about those pjs cami wares. And those slippers or
Lookin pretty comfy. He looks funny running upstairs in them.
You know who would be a good one to
Play rafa's Mom? Chooch the mooch. From
"Mirada". Of course we dont know what
Kind of person his mom is, so I'm not ready To see that actress play a bitch again This Soon. I just Hope when she does make an appearance she whoever She be,wont be a pain in the a$$. They will have enough to deal with with diana dying. Which I Really hate, now couldn't they do This a different way? Couldn't they give cam An identical twin she could fall for? And keep the comedy goin? And The doctor made a booboo of a mistake. Ok its just some wishful Thinkin on my part.
Thanks Anita.
Anita, thank you very much, you clarified a lot of stuff for me.
Nina, I'm not sure we know Diana's cancer is terminal, we just know it's very serious. I know it's too soon to be making any predictions, way too soon, but it did occur to me that Diana might survive and Moni might wind up with young Rafa, the spitting image of Camilo at that age.
Who knows? We will have to wait to see, but I do prefer happy romance to people dying... unless they are really evil people and not gorgeous women. Gorgeous women can ALWAYS be redeemed somehow IMHO.
:-)
andy
Oh, the silly things I obsess about. In episode #2, at about 49 minutes, 15 secs or so there is the sniffing that had me scratching my head.
Walking and talking in their bedroom Diana convinces Camilo to invite Rafael to dinner the next night. Sitting on the edge of the bed discussing things, Camilo tells Diana just how wonderful he thinks she is and goes in for a kiss. She pulls back a bit as if she smelled something bad, then she sniffs him a bit, his face, then she smiles and they kiss.
It finally occurred to me that Camilo sneaked a cigarette and she smelled it. I think this makes sense, it was a rough day for Camilo and he is in the middle of quitting smoking. An odd thing to show with no explanation (so far). I'll have to watch for more of these.
Another thing, Diana seems to have gotten over the shock of her diagnosis, and Moni and Ximena have not shown her much sympathy. It's just out with the old, in with the new, let's get Moni and Camilo hitched. Wow.
andy
I was lukewarm on this but if our great Patio is on board, I'll have to join up also. Will try and catch up on episodes today and will volunteer to do Friday recaps if that's okay. Don't want to lose out on these great group discussions y'all have.
Anita, it's always a pleasure to read your recaps, thank you! I had never seen Angelica in anything else either, but I already like her--very down-to-earth and I love the way she talks with her eyes...those looks she gives Ximena say it all. I agree that this TN is looking very delightful...quite a change from what we have been seeing lately. Well I take that back; I liked Dona Flor too, but this one seems to be even lighter than that.
I have to agree with Andy, though, that Diana got over the shock of her bad news very quickly and Moni hasn't shown much sympathy. I would also add that Regina seems to have gotten over the shock about her pregnancy and has already met some prospective parents...within a day of finding out she is pregnant, is that correct?? And then, Camilo and Diana have dinner with Rafa HOURS after he announced that he was Camilo's son! Wow...my head is spinning!
Andy, do you remember Chiquinquira (Kika) from Papa a Toda Madre? She's the one I would like to see as Rafael's mama; I think she would really fit in with this cast.
The doctor did not tell Diana that her cancer was terminal. In fact, he tried to give her some hope about treatment but she brushed him off saying that her grandma and great-grandma had died of it. It would not surprise me if Diana is still alive at the end...but then what about Moni? Rafa is nice, but I'm not sure Moni would go for such a young guy....or maybe she would...quien sabe! We'll just have to wait n see.
JudyB, I'm really looking forward to your recaps on this TN...I'm sure we'll all be ROFLOL. :-)
Finished my chores. I can do another mini recaplet today, but that will be all until next Thursday. I hope someone can pick up the slack.
Andy--Who knows what made Di pull back from Cam. Remember that Moni found his stash of cigarettes in the office and threw them out. Maybe it was that he wasn't much into having Rafa over right away--how will the kids react, etc. and she was all into it and needed to persuade him.
I love Rafa, by the way. I hope he stays a really good guy. With Moni, it won't work, at least by Televisa standards--he's 27 (he announced it) and she just turned 40 (her birthday celebration). That happens all the time IRL, and in some May-Dec tn marriages where the man has evil intentions over a fortune. Here we have two very sweet people who deserve to be happy. It might be a tn first if they do get together, well, my first anyway.
You are all so right about the cancer being on the back burner. Di never lets Dr. Juan talk. She just jumps to fatal conclusions. They are only in the diagnosis stage, not the treatment stage. If she has to do chemo, she won't be able to explain hair loss to Cam if she hasn't told him anything.
I think next on the list is what Reggie is going to do about hiding her pregnancy until she has nailed down the couple. I'm sure we'll see them again, Ana Layevska isn't in it for just 2 seconds on a sidewalk.
Did you all catch that Di writes children's books? Where? When? I hope they give us a little bit more of her hectic daily life. She willy-nilly parks her kid with granny and won't hire any help in the house. She lets her eldest daughter do all the cooking. Surely Cam can afford SOME kind of help. After all, Granny has one.
Thank you again, Anita, for your mini recap.
So Rafa is 27 y/o? I thought they said 17 y/o so good thing I wasn't writing the summary. 🙄
Either Diana is wearing her telenovela beanie hat, or she already knows that she is in a telenovela, because I'm somewhat disturbed by her reaction to the cancer dx and shopping around for her replacement already. Whatevs.
I love the color of that dress Monica wore to the restaurant.
So glad you can do today’s Anita. I’ll do Fridays and maybe Folsom’s can do resumes on the other days. Just brief summaries fine. Something for others on the Patio to react to.
Doris--Rafa HAS to be older than Cam's oldest daughter Barbara. I think she's already at University. Rafa is from a relationship that pre-dated Diana.
Yes, Doris. I think they ALL know they are in a telenovela, even Chabela (Granny Eugenia's maid), so overly-enthusiastic. OTOH, the original story comes from Chile and we know they can churn out the magical realism.
I apologize, JudyB, I did see when you first volunteered to do Fridays. That's the main reason I volunteered again for today--just to get the ball rolling.
"OTOH, the original story comes from Chile and we know they can churn out the magical realism."
Isn't that the truth!?! I've read enough of Isabel Allende's books ... in English of course.
