Here are the current evening telenovelas (all times are Eastern Daylight Time):
• 9-10PM—El Final del Paraíso
• 10-11PM—Preso No. 1

This is the last week for Preso No. 1. A new, short telenovela, No te puedes esconder (You can't hide), begins next Monday, September 30. It will have only 10 episodes. Among the featured actors will be Blanca Soto (from Eva Luna and Señor Acero), Eduardo Noriega, Iván Sánchez (Santiago in La Reina del Sur 1), Maribel Verdú, and Gabriel Porras (La Reina del Sur 1, Bajo el Mismo Cielo, and Al Otro Lado del Muro). The novela presents the story of Monica and her daughter, who decide to flee from Mexico to escape from their past, an abusive spouse, and a criminal network. They establish new identities in Madrid, Spain, and begin to remake their lives. There they encounter a former policeman turned hit-man, a photographer obsessed with death, and a politician with forbidden relationships. Everyone is hiding something. Sounds interesting!

PRESO NO. 1 – LUNES – Parte 1 de 2
Who wrote this thing? The Marquis de Sade? I’m up to my back teeth with dark. It's not only literally dark, like they barely have enough light in some scenes to see who’s in them; but sadistic and disjointed dark. The baddies thrive, episode after episode.
While Carolina is on the phone with Carmelo that same evil cop arrests her. Apparently she has no civil rights. She doesn’t even know where she is when he interviews her . Rotten cop tells her that they SAVED Paco from students.
Piña starts beating up Paco in some [again, dark] room. He says Paco is going to tell them where Carmelo Alvarado is.
Diana tells Ricardo Montero that “they” are putting Carolina before a judge really quickly.
Some woman I don’t recognize gets snarky to Juanito about Josefina [Rivas Macin’s daughter] and Miranda Collins eating dessert out in public with no guards. He calls Guido with the idea to kidnap Josefina to pressure Rivas Macin. Right away some thugs grab her up and Miranda goes into labor. [Women in TN’s are very prone to go into labor when frightened. Most women I know find those babies are more than happy to stick around until they’re ready, not necessarily when we're ready.]
Juan tells Guido’s physical therapist [forgot her name] that she’s una trepadora (social climber). She goes on to tell him her name is Limantour and she’s his half sister.
Rivas Macin falls apart about his daughter’s kidnapping, barking at Dosal and Iturbe. Iturbe tries to talk him out of his behavior, flat out calling him a coward. Iturbe resigns. We then see Josefina yelling in some kind of tight area. She’s in the same house with idiot Juanito.
Sara and Isa visit Carolina and tell her a) Isabel is pregnant and b) Miranda has given up her son to Sara.
More mysterious Mexican judicial system. Some guy reads off a bunch of charges about Carolina, saying that she was “captured”. And just like Carmelo, she’s off to prison. No bail. No trial.
Rivas Macin throws Carolina under the bus in front of reporters. He says what happened made him “sad” but she can no longer be a candidate for the presidency.
Bautista whines to Adonis that, without Caro in the race, the polls now favor Rui Palacios. [Isn’t anyone ever going to tell Bautista that his big problem is having the charisma of a department store dummy?]
Miranda comes to the nursery and signs a paper giving her baby to Sara.
What? Rita Franco is in prison sitting across a dining table from Carolina? So, if you don’t read the lies you were told to read on the news, you go to prison. [More gloom. These prisons don’t waste money on light bulbs. I guess the plus side is that they can’t really see what they’re eating.]
PRESO NO. 1 – LUNES – Parte 2 de 2
Rui Palacios is in front of the reporters’ cameras calling for the people to march in the streets against the injustice done to Carolina.
Ricardo somehow gets a call and then tells Diana that Paco is in some military prison after having been tortured.
Carmelo is very worried about his wife. Evidio and Plácido want to get an army together, but Carmelo is opposed.
Caro is in her huge cell when some woman comes up to basically say she has the hots for Caro and will protect her from Rita. [So are these women’s prison fantasies from these writers?]
Isa once again treats Jaime like crap. He’s still talking wedding and she bashes him in the nose. Some person has taken Jaime’s picture and shows it to Crazy Joe. Joe looks a lot better, darn it. He tells the accomplice that Jaime will get them to Carmelo.
Two years in the future… Crazy Joe is with some other guy in a car. Unbelievable, hardly any scarring and he’s free as a bird. What? The CIA or just Joe by his lonesome have somehow managed to trace those few seconds when Sara logged on at her job to look for what happened to Jaime. And how in blue blazes does he know it was Sara looking up Jaime?
Crazy Joe goes into that store where Sara was working and threatens a guy with a gun. So, is he Diego? It’s not like they’re going to explain anything in this show, but Sara gets a text from a Diego not to come to work.
In the present, Sara is in bed with, I think, Federico Iturbe. You can’t really see the guy’s face that well. Her phone rings and we hear some heavy breathing, gasping really. [CJ no doubt.]
Juanito finds out he’s been cut out of his father’s will and is ranting at Guido, etc. He’s drinking and rummaging through his father’s desk and finds some incriminating pictures with Guido and Crazy Joe, Pedro and Crazy Joe. Rupert and Crazy Joe. He says he’s going to burn it all down.
Piña shows up and shoots Rui Palacios. Apparently the Palacios campaign didn’t think to provide any security after he called the Mexican people into the streets.
wow, what a show, it even ran over 10 minutes to squeeze it all in, but did anything happen?
CG spills to Vanessa, Yessica is alive, she's ALIVE... they wonder where she has been hiding all this time (2 years), duh!
Al shows up at lawyer Marcela's, must be who he called on the bus, they have a sit down while albeirito wrecks the place.
Santi drags Zoraya into Shadows den, she is freaking, Shadow suggests a drink.
hero Conde races ahead in the polls, Lucrecia doesn't trust him, he may have saved you (Alf) but he will make you pay for it over and over.
Val makes a rare appearance at work, they brief her, oh and Yessica is alive, she's ALIVE..., does Val gulp, loved her expression when they were talking about Yessica and how she is jealous of CG, next we see she is listening from around a wall.
I think Al totally spilled to Marcela, including the AIDs, she spills on her near death experience with cancer, she was hopelessly looking for someone to talk to that understood, the love of her life walked, but what will you do about Diabla, where will your son stay, he can stay here she offers (where else?), Al asks her to protect him with her life even if he is gone, I promise, I promise (will you marry me, she doesn't say)
bleeding Dayana arrives at Titi's door, how did she know where we were, that's right she gets girls for us, but is it a trap?
Jo is working with Hilda on the important buyer's dinner, they'll be lots of foreigners, Hilda is worried, Jo slips in some english to confirm Hilda doesn't know what's being said.
CG and Vane are racing around buried in work and unsolved cases but Yessica being alive has added a buzz, CG actually has an idea, we'll get Calvo.
Diabla is on Calvo for being a dummy, (I'm waiting for Calvo to grab her gun and shoot himself and be done with it).
Conde and x6 are doing well, but Hand needs to get xy4 rolling, they need new investors, the girls roll around the xy4 boxing and betting and Diabla throws in doing it underground with no rules so everyone can enjoy the mayhem as well, Hand likes the idea, the Babes are smart Moncho adds.
they got a doc for Dayana (so what happened to the last one who popped the pill?) Titi and Pilar drop by to see her, and when Titi calls Pilar his woman, the smile on Dayana's face hits the floor with a thud, putting it back on she wants to work with them, Titi says she has to pick a side, no more being neutral, one man Pilar just does a silent snarl.
Art pulls up an internet pic of Ingrid/Zoraya, she calms down and spills, (between Santi having issues with what she has done and jota interrupting her, I wonder if we will ever get the story) Shadow is being the smart one here and lets her talk, did she fall for Alf, since she saved Hand's life he will let her live as long as he never sees her again, throws her out of the moving car, but stops, has Mateo taken out of the trunk, wrapped in a bag, laid on the ground, the Hand shoots him, they drive off.
Hilda's gang are at Sal's place, Jo leaves early to prepare things (ahem) later Sal and Hilda follow, leaving Liset, Sandra, and Gab, my house is your house he tells them, (I think I'll move in too).
Val visits Alf, (earlier she asked Hand if he couldn't find someone uglier or more boring, he says this is your 3rd mission, shots a coming).
Al's on a mission, he calls CG, your love has made me the strongest man in the world (maybe he should take along some xy4 for backup), together we will find paradise, meet me at the viaduct where we used to hang, I have so much to tell you.
Novelera: Enjoyed your recap. I did warn everyone here that Carolina was going to get framed for Pia's death & sent to prison. NO HAPPY ENDING for anyone except for the Psychopaths & the Co-Conspirators.
Sounds like Telemundo is bringing this back for Season 2!
El Final del Paraíso
Once again, thank you deb, for the great recap and asides.
Father of the year Albeiro is not concerned his toddler jumping on the bed? Hey, as long as he’s happy… Albeirito was safer under Patricia’s care. Marcela definitely has her sights set on Albeiro. Is she going to turn psycho at some point?
Every time Shadow suggests a drink, I worry.
I don’t know why Sal trusts Jo. He’s a good guy but a dope.
Lucrecia asked Berrios about his pic with Zoraya. Berrios says she was supposed to be First Lady—my wife. One moment she was here and the next she disappeared with no explanation.
I’m wondering about Dayana. Which way will she go? I remember when she first slept with Titi--he thought she liked women. She said she was an equal opportunity opportunist. She can’t be trusted by anyone. Girl had her own mother killed.
Maybe everyone should watch out for Pilar. She’s got the makings…
Mari and Moncho talk about Diabla. (I don’t get his attraction to her.) Mari doesn’t trust her. She tells Moncho what happened with the face transplant and that Diabla killed Villa. Moncho says Villa his mentor…. hmmm.
Diabla doesn’t have to worry so much about Titi outing her. Wait until Albeiro tells CataG Valeria’s been blackmailed by Diabla!
They are so sure they will find investors at the underground boxing matches? Where are these matches taking place--USA, Colombia? And when will that Mexican chemist arrive, Moncho?
CataG has something to tell Albeiro, too, when they meet.

"Four more days! Four more days!" Since watching last night's episode, I've been repeating this mantra to stay what passes for sane. What a mess! Muchísimas gracias, novelera, for calling attention to what a shambles this novela has become.
I'm not sure whether the writers are the only ones to blame, but I think they certainly deserve a good deal of contempt. And the Telemundo network, as well. Why do they think the audience has an unquenchable appetite for prison dramas, especially prison dramas that roll out the same tired clichés?
And then there's the clichéd account of pregnancy. Just about ALL women in telenovelas faint and/or vomit just about as soon as egg meets sperm. watchng this nonsense, I'm tempted to follow suit. And, as you say, women go into labor as soon as they are frightened.
And then there are the [expletives-deleted] flash-forwards.
And ain't telenovela medicine miraculous! A man with burns over at least 80% of his body emerges just about scar-free and ready to star in a fitness commercial.
As for Rivas Macin, he seems to be expecting his period.
Loved your description of Bautista as having "the charisma of a department-store dummy."
So Juanito has found some possibly incriminating photos. Is it possible that he may turn out to do something useful? And good?
Four more days, four more days!

Fine recap, novelera, I appreciate the effort it takes to get it done under these circumstances. I’m in 100% agreement with everything Juanita wrote. Four more days!
So we get a shortened episode of an already shortened novela. Hard to make any sense of this. Maybe I should say I don’t know why anyone still wants to make sense of this.
I’m surprised they let the girls in to see Caro. When they brought Caro out, I almost expected her to raise her arms like Carmelo did at the beginning. novelera, cue the predatory lesbian…
They found Rivas Macin’s weakness and he’s struggling. Interesting how he’s able to hide behind the law at times. Hey, he found his courage once before so maybe we shouldn’t count him out. It’s funny that Josefina wanted him to be president so badly, but she didn’t count on the danger attached to the job.
Twenty years later, Rita Franco is still obsessed with Carmelo, just like every woman he’s bedded.
Legarreta doesn’t ask about his son anymore?
Why does Crazy Joe deserve a miraculous recovery? ¡Maldita sea!
I don’t understand why Joe thinks Jaime is so important to finding Carmelo.
Bravo Rui Palacios! You get a few bullets from Piña as your reward.
Four more days!

halimacandy on the QT ....
thanks novelera for putting it all together for us!
according to the english caps, Joe was from the FBI.
Caro's prison admirer said Rita was in prison for killing her lover's wife, she's loca, loca.
so Guido's 24/7 nurse, Artemisa, is going over to Juanito, but figures she can return if things don't work out, hmm.
yep novelera, could it get any darker, and here we thought we were done with Joe and Mayorga, and Pina is long overdue to meet mr. Karma.
and it must be challenging hanging out, 24 hours a day, with a guy like Tuerto.
can we look forward to a happy ending?
Deb: Mark my words: there will NOT be any happy ending! You can bet the San Francisco 49ers (Go 49ers Go!) on it.
Diana needs to get her Karma too.
deb, I believe you're right that Crazy Joe told Diego (if that's his name) that he was from something Federal. My first response was that the FBI don't operate in other countries; some links when I googled the question said they aren't permitted to pursue law enforcement unless in the US. But the FBI website itself says that they have something called "legal attachés" to cover cases of mutual interest to both countries. Doubt that includes threatening an employee of a business by showing him the gun at your waist. But when have telenovelas ever had a sensible image of law enforcement?
Preso No. 1 - Capítulo 41 - Martes - Parte 1 de 3
We again see Ruy Palacios shot by Piña. Then the scene changes to the military prison where Paco is being held. Ricardo and Diana come to see him. They ask the military guy who is escorting them who gave the order to arrest Paco and hold him here. "The order came from high up," he says. Diana asks, "Rivas Macin?" She gets a look but no verbal reply. When they see Paco, Paco says that they want him to tell them where Carmelo is, but he doesn't know, and if he did know, he wouldn't tell them. Ricardo says that if Carmelo turned himself in, Caro and Paco would be free. Paco replies that the powers that be don't want Carmelo in prison, they want him dead. Diana tells Paco that she's pregnant.
One-armed Mayorga is speaking with Guido on the phone. Mayorga is upset that he's not getting the respect and reward he feels he deserves. He apparently has promoted himself to General.
The scene shifts to Carmelo. He observes that with Caro in jail and Ruy Palacios dead, they're running out of options. Plácido urges him to speak to the people. Adán says Carmelo should make a video; it will go viral.
Rivas Macin is upset that no one has been able to find his kidnapped daughter. He then tells Dosal, "Dead or alive, find Carmelo." Dosal informs him that Carmelo wants to arm his people and put them at RM's service. RM seems focused only on getting Carmelo. I don't understand his reasoning. He wants to have the army find Carmelo. Dosal informs him that the army is about to turn against RM. Mayorga is now a general and is in charge. He and Crazy Joe have been discharged from the hospital. RM asks, "what do they want from me? They took my daughter and turn me into..." Dosal completes RM's sentence: "A puppet, señor."
Crazy Joe is talking with Mayorga. CJ is apparently not all that pleased that Ruy Palacios has been killed. Mayorga defends the killing. "The people were going with Ruy. Now Bautista is the only one." Crazy Joe is not impressed. "I'm going after Carmelo. These are my orders."
Guido is lying in his bed looking at two photos on his tablet that have just been sent to him. One I think shows Pedro, Ramses, and Mayorga. The other shows Mayorga, the white-haired gringo Rupert (I think), Guido, Ramses, and Pedro. Guido is quite upset that these photos exist.
Diana talks with her grandfather, Belisario. He tells her that he is a patriot. "I'm deeply flawed, but I've never taken money I didn't earn. I didn't bleed the country dry." "Then join us," Diana says. Belisario replies, "Tell me what to do." [Yup,with only 4 days left in the novela, it looks as if Belisario is on the fast track to redemption.]
The scene shifts back to Carmelo, who says he still believes the country they want is an attainable dream. He makes a video and tells the others that "the message I'm about to give can radically change things. It can damn us or save us." In the video, he talks about Caro's being imprisoned unjustly and Ruy, a good man, being brutally murdered. He urges the people to come together under President Rivas Macin. This is the peaceful, democratic way. But there also exists another possibility.
Adonis is attending a meeting for drug or alcohol addicts (I'm not sure which). After the meeting ends and everyone else leaves, he comes on to the female doctor at the meeting. He wants her to go out with him. She turns him down.
Preso No. 1 - Capítulo 41 - Martes - Parte 2 de 3
Adonis then follows the doctor home and comes in the house. "Don't touch me," she says, backing away. He tells her she reminds him of a journalist who is now dead. She tries to get rid of him, but he's not leaving. He grabs her, tears her clothes, slaps her. She fights back. Adonis has something in his hand and hits her hard over the head with it, a la Pia. But this time there's a witness, a woman who comes into the room calling "Lorenza?" She's holding a knife. She has a good look at him before he flees.
Sara and Isa visit Caro again in prison. She is worried about them. She tells them that she's likely to be found guilty and sentenced to a long prison term. They may even try to kill her while she's in prison. She tells Sara and Isa, "You have each other and your children. Disappear."
In a 2-years-later flash forward, Isa and Sara are planning to flee again. Sara gets a text message saying she shouldn't leave without saying goodbye. A second text tells her "Meet me in the café." And then a third: "Be careful, amor." Isa asks who the texts are from. Sara says she doesn't know, Diego never called her "amor." She tells Isa they have to leave immediately. We then see a shot of Crazy Joe at the place where Diego worked, but Diego is now lying dead on the floor.
Belisario has apparently followed Diana's suggestion to join the good guys. At a meeting, he introduces Emanuel to a lawyer, Blas Saravia, who he has hired to work on three cases: Carmelo, Caro, and Paco. Emanuel is told "We're on a rescue mission."
At the dead doctor's house, a police investigator is reporting to the commandante that the case looks very similar to Pia's except there's a witness who recognized the killer. It was the ex-president. "Carmelo?" asks the commandante? "No, Adonis Madrigal." He's told to keep an eye on the witness.
Ricardo tells Diana to work on this new murder case and write it up.
The truck in which Carmelo and the others are riding is stopped by some armed men. Their leader says, "You're coming with us, Carmelo. We just want to talk with you. We'll bring you back in a little while." Carmelo urges Voyo and the others in the truck to remain calm.
Carmelo recognizes that the armed men are members of the National Liberation Front. He remembers that he had a truce with them, but he's no longer president. They tell him he could be president again. No, he informs them, there are laws. "You're squandering your last chance," they tell him. He replies that he doesn't want to be a strongman, he wants to live as a free man in a free country. He continues, "I assume you could kill me if I disagree. If you're going to kill me, take off your masks so I can see your faces." They bring him to a room where there are supporters chanting "Carmelo! Carmelo!"
Juanito comes to see Guido. Guido tells him to look at the tablet. Juan asks whether Rivas Macin sent the photo. He tells Guido, "We have his daughter. We could cut off one of her fingers." Guido tells Juan to stop being an idiot, and it wasn't RM. Juan next proposes Mayorga as the sender. Guido says that the photo will make Mayorga even stronger, but he didn't send the photo. The gringo said so. He was here, and he said he'll deal with whoever sent it. Juan wants to know why this should make Mayorga stronger. Guido replies, "Because something happened that affects us all." He tells him that Adonis killed someone and was ID'd by a woman. Caro may walk free because of this. Juan says, "So it was Adonis who killed Pia." "Yes," replies Guido.
Preso No. 1 - Capítulo 41 - Martes - Parte 3 de 3
Carmelo is back with Voyo and the others. Someone says that the National Liberation Front had made a truce with Carmelo when he was elected president; they promised not to arm, and they went back on their truce. Carmelo says they did so because they saw what I failed to see. I was wrong. Voyo says that now they're ready, they have more people, more weapons. We can start a revolution. Plácido chimes in enthusiastically, "Let's start a revolution!" Carmelo says that we'll enter the city but without arms, in my way.
The scene shifts to Juanito lying in bed. He has a nightmare that Crazy Joe has come and has slit his throat. He wakes up with a start and feels his throat to be sure it's OK. He gets out of bed and goes into the room where he has his computer. He checks to see that all the photos and documents are there. Apparently they are. But he doesn't have time to feel relief: Crazy Joe is standing across from him. He tells Juanito "You sent the photos that connect us with Ramses Cota. Do you know that I have orders to kill you?" With surprising bravado, Juan says, "But you won't." He explains to Crazy Joe that he has nothing, no inheritance. All he has are the photos. "If you kill me, there are orders to send the documents to all the major newspapers in the world, and to the international courts. Do you think they'll be thrilled with your racist president? Moreover, with these documents, Carmelo Alvarado will be invincible, stronger than ever." And with that, the episode ends.
El Final del Paraíso
We open with Berrios telling Valeria, you light up my life. He’s been wrong about women before (his streak is intact) but something tells him it’s different this time (yes, it’s much worse). When he changes the future of this country, he wants Valeria to be by his side.
Buyer’s dinner. Wicked Jo enters, makes a beeline for Mateo. Is everything ready like I asked? Mateo wants to know what she has planned. He’s clearly nervous and unhappy. She’s determined.
Titi and Dayana: Time for the backstabber to face consequences. But Titi, I said I was sorry. Ain’t that enough? HA! We want proof of your loyalty—Black Hand’s head! Let’s see how Dayana plays this one.
Valeria says with her job, she doesn’t have time for love. Berrios can’t believe such a smart, beautiful woman would think this way. Valeria says maybe it’s because I haven’t found the right person yet. Well, Berrios is sure about her. The voyeurs, Nelly and Lucrecia make a brief appearance at the window. Don’t you just love Valeria’s expressions as she kisses Berrios?
Calvo is talking himself down from his anxiety. Albeiro calls. I’ll return under one condition: I want to see Yésica face to face. Calvo calls Diabla with the condition, of course she says no way. She refers to Albeiro as “Bobeiro” which the English caps translate to “Dumb-beiro”. How dare he set conditions. If he wants war, he’ll get it!
Lucrecia and Nelly are commenting on Valeria as they watch her walk down the hall. Lucrecia can’t shake that dark feeling she has about Valeria.
Albeiro and Catagrande meet. Their scenes are all lovey-dovey and no business. CataG says Hilda is happy with Sal and that clears the way for us. They kiss alot. She knows he’s got HIV. Jota escaped and he told me. They will face it all together. (Albeiro, when are you going to mention Valeria)
Mari is having a weepy moment. My perfect family was a sham. I thought they were different. Moncho is there to listen and give comfort. He says you must really hate your mom to partner with her worst enemy. He’s had his share of hardships, too. He was forced to be in this business by life circumstances. He wanted to be a hippie and spread peace and love but he ended up handing out bullets. He makes his case: stay with me. The world of narcos forces us to be alone. If you’re alone and I’m alone… we can bond. And they do—literally—on the couch.
Buyer’s dinner: Sal and Hilda make their entrance to applause. Jo messes with the back of Hilda’s dress as she’s announced before the crowd. Hilda has a major wardrobe malfunction. The dress falls down to her waist and she struggles to cover herself with her arms. The photographer is clicking away. (I hope he got one of Jo’s hands fiddling behind Hilda.) The dress falls all the way to the floor. Sal stands there like an idiot, no pictures please. Mateo jumps into action. He swipes a tablecloth to wrap around Hilda. He says, show is over! Don’t any of you have mothers, sisters?! Have respect! Mateo and Sal escort Hilda out of the room. Jo apologizes to the crowd, saying we had no idea our designer had planned something like this. She’s blaming this on Hilda!
dondi356
El Final del Paraíso
Sal leaves, Jo enters. Ay, poor Hilda! Mateo looks on, disgusted. Hilda says how could this happen. Mateo says he knows how. Jo goes to get another dress for Hilda. Hilda recognizes Mateo as the bastard who interviewed her. He’s sorry, she slaps him. She lets him have it. She tells her side of the story. He begs for forgiveness. He is sincere.
Diabla will still give the meds to Albeiro as long as he works for her and does what she says. Calvo asks what’s his next job? Something that will make me money. She wants Calvo to look into getting a trainer for street fighters. That will be Albeiro’s next job. How’s she going to coerce him? She will use Agent Valeria.
Hilda’s getting dressed. Mateo is still there. Jo wants him out and threatens him with security. Hilda says he can stay. Jo and Mateo are surprised. Jo says, but he wrote that terrible article about you! Sal enters, he wants Mateo out, too. Hilda sticks up for Mateo again.
Mateo will go on his own but first, he tells Hilda don’t dare be embarrassed. Others wish they could be as dignified, determined, strong, not to mention have a body like yours. You are a beautiful, mature woman. Your work speaks for itself. Go out there and shine! He asks for forgiveness again. He committed a grave mistake. Sal and Hilda go back to the dinner.
Titi and Dayana continue their convo. She apologizes again. Titi repeats the condition. Dayana thinks it’s an impossible demand. If she’s sent back, they will kill her. She knows she owes him a lot but she saved him from Black Hand. She tries to put the moves on him but he rejects her.
Jo is shameless. She tries to bully Mateo. He stands firm. You’re more involved here, slut. Jo continues to harp on Mateo as they go downstairs. (I worried she would push him). How dare you support that woman. Mateo will support the new queen of Colombian fashion. He’s tired of women sabotaging each other—in life, in fashion, on social media. He’s done with it. He wants to support hard working women like Hilda. Jo tries to threaten him. He’s not worried.

El Final del Paraíso
Titi and Co are gathered around the dinner table. Dayana shows up and Cardona plays the gentleman. I really don’t understand this. Seems Cardona is letting her stay for a while. Wasn’t Cardona the one who exclaimed that Dayana was a trap? Now it seems he’s done a 180. Titi and Pilar are upset at this development. Morón just wants a peaceful dinner.
Just some dinner talk: Dayana and Pilar throw shade at each other. Carodona says we got breasts (Dayana) and brains (Pilar) here. Use them to your advantage. Morón asks about the XY4 formula. What if something happens to Pilar? Does it go to the grave with her? Seems Titi knows the formula, too. Cue snickering and skepticism. Cardona and Titi almost get into it but Morón calms it down. Dayana makes her case: I’ll be your ally. I’ll do anything, including bringing you Black Hand’s head. She says have a little faith in me. Morón says faith without actions (or works)? (is dead, Dayana, like you will be if you don't come through) She gets it, but wants to know what will be in it for her.
Mari and Moncho in the afterglow? Not! Mari says this can’t happen again. We’re just scratching an itch. She says were doing business, but he’s crazy about her (I think he’s just crazy to be with her). She says then we have to keep this quiet.
Liseth, Gabriel and Sandy break into Liseth’s house to see if they can find any of Dayana’s secrets. They almost get caught. Now Sandy can be jealous of Liseth. Liseth finds a video and she’s going to use it somehow.
Last scene with Albeiro and CataG. They are going to spend the most glorious night together. Beautiful and unforgettable. CataG wants to spend the night in his arms, as if time has not gone by.
Ok, Calvo, where’s Albeiro? You said he was coming tonight. Diabla’s gun is pointed right between Calvo’s eyes. He assures her Albeiro is coming. And we’re out.

Novelera: I had a feeling that female doctor was going to get whacked by Crazy Adonis.
Let's see:
1.) Pia: DEAD.
2.) Female Doctor, who turned down Adonis: DEAD
3.) The witness who saw Adonis: she's going to be DEAD soon once Adonis finds out she saw him.
4.) Juanito: likely got whacked by Crazy Joe from the FBI.
NO HAPPY ENDING!
Fantastic recap, Juanita!! Your details were terrific.
One thing stood out for me. In the two years forward section Sara tells Isa that they are leaving to be where their father is. So Carmelo is not dead. I'm starting to think they're going with a second season. If Carmelo and/or Carolina are in hiding two years in the future, it doesn't seem like they can wrap this up in three days.
I was watching with the Spanish caps on, and in the last scene with Crazy Joe and Bautista I heard a shot and on the screen was the word disparo.
I thought it was kind of ridiculous that, when the leaders of the revolutionary group take Carmelo where some others are, they all chant Carmelo but don't take off the scarves or whatever is covering their faces.
Mayorga is playing with fire. The way he took the initiative and had Palacios killed, even though Crazy Joe thought it was a bad idea. And then he screams at Guido.
There was a hint of an earlier hint that CJ and Mayorga had had a "little something" going on. Mayorga told CJ that he didn't feel like kissing that face now.
I was a bit surprised that CJ made the blunder of putting mi amor into the text that was meant to fool Sara into thinking Diego was the one texting her. I sort of got off the sofa to try and read the texts, but the memory went straight out of my head, except for the part where she notices Diego doesn't address her in that way.
Isabel seems unhinged in the fast forwards. I remember how brave she was when she confronted Rivas Macin. Now she just whines all the time.
dondi, that was a perfect recap, amazing!
ah yes, Diabla's rolling eye kisses.
sex with a bullet wound to the gut, Dayana's game.
Bobeiro, (Kimberly Reyes gets better each show at being Majida Issa (Diabla)) scary!
Titi's playing it smart, but I'm watching how Pilar has her eye on him, she hasn't bit the hook yet, but if she does, Titi may have met his match, will he "walk the line" for her? (of course not, but will this be yet more trouble for CataG)
if you look at CataG with her different lovers, it's subtle, but she shows a different face, with Albeiro it's a teenagers first love, a time of innocence.
and what does Albeiro say to her, "he doesn't have to look into the sky, because you are my star".
Halimacandy, love your take on things, "Moncho and Mari juanna, wha ?? does he like them young, dumb, evil, drunk, addicted and a bad mother..just his type!!"
As I've mentioned before, Wednesdays are impossible for me to recap as I'm in a two hour Spanish class that evening.
Any volunteers?
thanks so much Juanita, what a wonderful recap, lots of details!
aaa, so the DA slips Ricardo a flashdrive, that he passes it on to Diana to review the doctors murder, then compare PIA's (the DA headed that investigation).
I kind of got that Crazy Joes objection to Mayorga was that he was doing things without talking it over with CJ first.
not sure about Carmelo's plan to enter the city, but I think it included the NLF but without arms.
it looked like Juanito deleted the photos, but too late, and yes, I heard a shot after the scene blacked out.
Thank you so much, Juanita, for the wonderful recap.
What is this, Mexico descending into anarchy? A military coup? A Civil War? Total madness. And Carmelo is the eye of the storm.
Juanita I was perplexed too at Rivas Macin’s reasoning. Of course he’s distraught over the kidnapping. I can’t remember hearing a kidnapper demand of any sort, but perhaps it’s as simple as handing over Carmelo to get his daughter back? I think we are the victims of extreme edits here.
Things I found interesting/amusing/puzzling in this episode:
Dosal salutes (then leaves) Rivas Macin immediately after he calls him a puppet. He's a strange guy.
BSC Mayorga. I can’t believe he has any soldiers willing to fight on his side. Joe was concerned about what The White House will think. He gives the finger and makes a little kiss in the air to Mayorga before leaving.
Caro told her girls she was worried because “it’s likely the gringos will intervene and then repression will reign.”
Serial killer Adonis. And because he killed Lorenza they automatically connect him to Pia? How did Guido find out Adonis killed Pia? Bautista doesn’t seem to know.
Carmelo’s traveling road show. Hey kids, let’s put on a revolution! Yes, novelera, all those masked people chanting Car-me-lo.
Juanito’s photos looked like copies of the pics Virginia had stashed away. Whatever happened to those?
An F-bomb and an A-hole showed up in the English captions last night.
Since this is a Super Series, the original intent must have been multiple seasons. Did they decide to chop it solely because of the Uni premier or did the ratings go downhill as well? That might matter for a second season.
dondi356
Thanks VERY much, novelera, deb, and dondi, for your wonderful comments. I'm especially happy because they reassure me that my confusion isn't my fault!
novelera, I think I remember an earlier episode where two of the bad guys did more than just blow kisses. I don't recall who the characters were, alas, but I think it's quite possible they were CJ and Mayorga. Then again, I also think Adonis might have been involved. Oh well...
I didn't hear a shot at the end, but by then I was focused more on how to make sense of all this in my recap, and I wasn't paying careful attention after the scene blacked out.
deb, I agree that CJ's gripe with how Mayorga handled things had mostly to do with M's not consulting with CJ first. Then again, CJ seems to be someone who obeys orders, and if his orders differed from what Mayorga was doing, that too would have made him angry. And yes, I too think that Carmelo's plan (if one can call it that) is to enter the city with the NLF, but without arms.
dondi, I'm glad you mentioned what Caro said to her daughters about "repression will reign" once the gringos take over. Putting that together with what Juanito says near the end about what the international courts will think about CJ's "racist president" and I think this series isn't likely to run on the Fox network. :-)
I loved your "Hey kids, let's put on a revolution."
Oh god, I sure hope that Telemundo is not planning a season 2!!
thanks dondi for the wonderful recap you did for Tuesday!
Pilar wants a faithful man, but Titi ramps up the charm, they hit the bed, as Dayana patiently watches.
Daniel and Vane talk about an urban legend, a man that controls everything, is it Shadow?, and other things, Dan is all career, did he say he sent Lucia away to protect her.
Hand warns the new lovebirds, Mari and Moncho, don't lose focus of the business at hand.
Shadow isn't done pondering but Santi has a plan, go to Alf.
Mateos speech boosted Hilda's confidence after her near nude experience and the buyers meet was salvaged, she and Sal are being frisky on the drive home, the fires are lit as they smooch their way in the dark to his couch, oops, Liset is there, they hit the pause button.
Titi and Pilar have worn themselves out as Dayana slithers around their discarded clothing.
Al and CG talk the night away, morning comes and he is gone, a note on the pillow (and CG still in her dress), CG reads his reasons as she walks through her glass house, Vane is at the door, they talk AL.
Dayana hands the Hand a flashdrive as elsewhere Titi hunts for his undies, the small pouch in them is empty.
Diabla allows Calvo a last meal as he has failed her for the last time, Al shows up on the doorstep, and hugs Val.
Vane is happy for Cata but sad that there is always something keeping her and Al apart, Cata thinks they will find Paradise.
Santos the mexican chemist flies in, met by Moncho and I'm no one's girl, Mari.
Hilda works on Liset to lose the hate, but she is determined, it's about people who think they own the world who only hurt others, she knows how to take down her sister who won't see it coming, Hilda has her make a promise.
Hand rewards Dayana with a gun to the head, a gold gun, it's hers, she knows Titi's mad, she needs help, snuggles up to him, they kiss.
Dayana and Hand have breakfast, (what is this place, an abandoned warehouse partially demolished, the Hand and crew treat it like it's the ritz), Santos shows, loves the xy4 formula, and talks money, Dayana adds she does nothing for free.
Natalia is still laid up, and CG is worried Liset might regret joining her band.
they have a supply of pills and Pilar can make more as soon as the lab is ready.
well, there's AL chained to his chair, smacked by Calvo, and hooded (did they just have to point the way), but wait, Al has demands, hmm and Diabla wants her kid back, 2 conditions,
1) leave Patricia and her family alone
2) let Val go
is Diabla feeling good today, she's ok with 1 but they'll talk about Val later, is Al sweet on her? but if you want to continue with the meds you need to do something for me, be an underground fighter, Calvo will get a trainer and we will give you something to make you stronger, you'll always win,,, for the meds, Al's on board (should we now call him Rocky).
Santi and Zoraya shake it out, she's scared, doesn't want to confront Alf and tell him about the Hand, wait Santi sees she loves him, Zoraya doesn't want to upset Santi,,, who let's her know, I am so over you. (of course he could have Zoraya give a statement to the police about how he was set up in Tony's death)
Titi is liking his tall woman, and she is smart (unlike some of the other girls we have seen him with), and keeps giving him ideas, first the flashdrive Dayana took had a tracker on it, so they need to squash the competition, he'll do it himself, before she springs another one on him, let the DEA do the work. (of course Dayana knows exactly where Cardona's place is but who cares)
Dayana spills to Mari that Titi is with Pilar, as Mari seems to be going into the fog more each day.
Preso No. 1 - Capítulo 42 - Miércoles - Parte 1 de 2
Well, this time we see Crazy Joe shoot, but he doesn't shoot at Juanito. He shoots off to the side. He then reports to Mayorga: Juanito has been warned.
Guido assures Joe that his superiors know what he's doing. Guido then tells him that he has got to work on "the girl" (clearly, Sara). He should find the best way (presumably, the best way to find her father, Carmelo). Joe seemed a bit bothered when Guido mentioned "the girl." He may actually have some feelings for her.
We then jump two years into the future. Joe gets a message that the girls are headed toward Las Faras. He tells whoever he's talking to on the phone to send him the exact location.
Isa knocks at the door of a house. She tells the woman who comes to the door that they've run out of gasoline. She asks to spend the night. The woman not only agrees, she also feeds them. But, of course, Joe finds them. He points his gun at Sara, but Isa comes up behind him and whacks him in the head with what looks like a large piece of wood. The next thing we know, the girls are driving the car and Joe is tied up in the trunk. He gets a phone call. Sara orders him to tell whoever is calling him that he can't talk now, he's following a lead. He does as she asks, and also tells his caller not to call him again.
We jump back to the present. Ricardo visits Caro in prison. He tells her that Adonis should be here, not her. He tells her that Adonis has killed Lorenza Castaño, and the details of the crime are similar to the murder of Pia Bolaños. Ricardo tells Caro not to lose hope. Caro says she needs a favor from him, but she doesn't say what it is. (I think we find out later.) Another prisoner is watching and listening as Ricardo and Caro talk. I'm not sure who she is, but I'm guessing Rita Franco.
Carmelo learns that his video has had 6 million views. Eva tells him they have to act now. Carmelo says he wants to know first that Caro and their daughters are safe. Family comes first.
Caro is limping. I'm not sure why. She sits down and covertly listens to Carmelo's video. Someone, probably Rita, comes over and grabs the phone. Other prisoners grab Caro. Rita hits Caro hard. [I am sick sick sick of all this!! Can't the writers think of anything more imaginative?] A guard finally shows up. By now, it seems that other prisoners are fighting, not Caro.
Ricardo tells Diana that he has agreed to let Caro write a weekly column from prison. (I think this was the favor she wanted.) Diana expresses worry about Paco. Ricardo first tries to reassure her that Paco will be OK, but eventually he talks about the possibility of a military dictatorship against which they'll be helpless. Diana says in that case Carmelo had better stay safe and get moving.
Rivas Macin tells Dosal that Adonis should be arrested for murder. After that, Dosal should send RM's congratulations to Bautista. "They won." He feels there's nothing he can do while the kidnappers have his daughter. "I want Josefina NOW!!" he demands. Dosal salutes and leaves.
A few weeks later, Isa shows Caro a copy of her baby's sonogram. It's not yet clear whether the baby will be a boy or a girl. Someone at the prison takes a family photo of Caro, Isa, Sara, Sara's son, and Isa's sonogram. Caro urges her daughters to believe in a future for yourselves. For all of us. She sends a copy of the photo to Carmelo. He's energized by the photo and announces,"We're going to change the country for the family."
Preso No. 1 - Capítulo 42 - Miércoles - Parte 2 de 2
We flash forward 2 years into the future. Both Paco and Caro are freed from prison. Paco arrives at the place where Carmelo is. [Isn't this exactly what Paco shouldn't have done? After torturing him for information about Carmelo's whereabouts, do none of the bad guys think to follow him? Apparently not.]
Still in the future, Sara tells Isa that she's not going to go with her to wherever they've decided to go. She has to deal with the gringo, otherwise, he'll never leave them alone, and he'll also be a danger to Carmelo. Sara tells Isa, "Your mission is to take care of the kids." [She leaves out the "should you choose to accept it."] Isa gets on a bus, while Sara goes off to deal with Joe. We see the two of them walking through the woods. He's ahead of her, with his hands tied behind his back. She follows, pointing a pistol at him.
Isa goes to wherever Father Aguirre, the friendly rebel priest, is. She tells him that she needs to send a message. He sets up a phone connection, warning her to make the call short and not reveal names or locations. She takes the phone and says "We're only three here. One angel is going to fall from grace. It wants to save us from the devil who comes from another place. It's very dangerous."
The ubiquitous Adán and Eva are tracking Joe. Eva goes in pursuit. Sara tells Joe to stop here. She points her pistol at him. He tells her, "You can't do it, Sara." She pulls the trigger, but nothing happens. I'm not sure whether she didn't pull it all the way, or it misfired, or it had no bullet. She runs off. Joe goes in pursuit. He doesn't see where she is, but he yells, "You should have left with your sister. I'm going to [bleep] you and then kill you and then go after the others." Just then, Eva arrives and shoots him. He shoots back. Both he and she are wounded. It looks as if Eva's wound is quite serious, perhaps fatal. She calls Adán and tells him that Sara escaped. He replies, "You were supposed to bring her." She then says, "Have I told you that I love you?" Eva? Eva? No answer.
The scene shifts to the present. There's a demonstration in honor of the murdered Ruy Palacios. The riot police arrive. Dosal reports to Rivas Macin that things have gotten out of hand. RM needs to act. But RM replies, "I'm waiting for a call about my daughter. Until then, the country can fall apart." Dosal informs him that it has already fallen apart. Dosal and RM go somewhere. A van arrives and delivers Josefina, dressed only in her underpants and bra. She runs to her father and embraces him.
Eva and Adán talk to Carmelo. He's upset about the country and wants to get his daughters away from it. [So Eva didn't die?]
Isa and Sara talk to someone -- I think it's Emanuel, but it could be Ricardo. I keep confusing them--two guys with dark hair and dark beards and a passion for Caro. Anyway, Isa and Sara need his help to get away. They don't tell him where they want to go. They arrive at a cabin. Their former housekeeper Malena is there. She says the Franco family asked her to housesit for a year. [The Franco family, as in Rita Franco??] A rather pregnant Isa is pleased that the cabin has a lake nearby. Months later, there's a knock on the door. Chita arrives. Isa is about to give birth, and Malena called Chita to come. Malena swears that Chita is the only person she has contacted.
The scene switches to Mexico City. Bautista is being sworn in as president. Protesters take to the streets, chanting "Bautista is not our president. He's a fraud who hurts people." The police arrive, and this time they're told to fire at will. As they are shooting into the crowd, someone is putting up a portrait of President Bautista.
Juanita: I'm not shocked Bautista is the President of the United Mexican States. Big question is whether he gets rid of the Sexenio & becomes President for Life ?
Juanita, whatever you did on your vacation energized you! Two fantastic recaps this week.
I'm getting whiplash from the time changes. And I still get up off the sofa because I can't see clearly that tiny, white print that says what era we're in.
While this appeared like a cut because either Crazy Joe or Juanito said something about "documents", I think the point was that Joe fired into Juanito's laptop and I assumed this meant the docs were destroyed. [Of course, I always scan documents and then destroy the originals, not!]
So Carolina served two years for murder? Or they just never tried her and finally let her out?
After Rita Franco was beating Carolina up, the woman who wanted to get busy with Caro jumped in and really brutally beat Rita Franco. ITA about the prison fights. But I must admit I enjoyed Teresa Mendoza's beatdown of the vicious prisoner who was her cellmate until Patty O'Farrell had her transferred.
I had the impression that, when Sara let Joe (in the trunk) answer his phone, he might have been saying words in some sort of code that Guido then understood.
I think the scene where we see Eva alive was perhaps two years before and that Joe really did kill her.
I guess I'm pretty bloodthirsty, but had I been in the novela, I would have murdered Joe in the trunk. It's not clear to me whether his dogged pursuit of Sara IS at the behest of his bosses or whether it's his obsession. This time you could see some scarring on the left side of his face.
I thought that scene at the cabin showed Isa not really very big about to walk outside and then, meaning some time had passed, hugely pregnant.
Good point about Paco perhaps leading the bad guys to Carmelo. Their high tech ability to trace people seems to ebb and wane.
What is the point of making Viewerville admire Rivas Macin's integrity only to have him completely lose it later on?
¡Muchísimas gracias, novelera, for your terrific comments!
I too am getting whiplash from the time shifts. (I wish I had thought of that description to put in my recap!) And although I sit fairly close to my TV, I too have a hard time seeing/reading both written notes and signals of time shifts. That may or may not be why I didn't realize that Eva's talk with Carmelo took place years BEFORE Crazy Joe shot her.
I thought that Crazy Joe shot off to the left, while Juanito's computer was on the desk directly in front of him. Of course, I could be mistaken. (It's been known to happen.)
I'm not sure about the scene in the cabin. It's true that Isa doesn't seem all that pregnant at first, but I don't think we see her full body until she steps out and walks toward the lake. I didn't see any notice that that was months later. The mesas después sign appears after that scene, IIRC. But it probably should have appeared right before she stepped out of the cabin.
Ha! You think you're bloodthirsty? I'd have gone on a rampage, killing not just Crazy Joe but some of the other bad guys as well. And then I'd have gone after the writers! :-)
I know something was said about "code" when Joe was speaking from the car's trunk, but since he said little more than what Sara told him to say, I'm not sure he succeeded in saying anything in code. Perhaps his "don't call me"?
Yes, I too enjoyed Teresa's beatup of the nasty woman in prison in Reina 1. But Reina 1 didn't give us day after day after day of Teresa either getting beaten up or beating the woman up. Whereas Preso seems to revel in such scenes, especially with Carmelo (both in the first prison and later at Islas Marias), and then they start over again with Caro. Unlike the very talented writers who wrote/adapted Reina 1, the Preso writers seem to me a bunch of unimaginative hacks. [And would you like to know what I really think? :-) ]
I think Caro spent two years in prison without a trial, though I could be wrong. For all I know, she had a trial and Telemundo put it on the cutting room floor, along with so much else that might have helped make sense of the novela.
Excellent question about Rivas Macin. I'm wondering whether he'll wind up sacrificing himself in a noble act. Of course, he'd better hurry up, there are only 2 episodes left (I hope and pray)!
Thank you so much, Juanita for stepping up to give us another wonderful recap. Thank you, novelera, for your observations. And I share your frustrations with the show.
It’s those damn time shifts! I’ll give the writers some teeny, tiny benefit to say the edits are making this much worse than it would have been.
Crazy Joe shot a picture of Guido and Pedro. There was a quick cut to the shattered pic. The laptop was untouched as far as I could see. As for what Juanito did on the laptop? Was he sending the incriminating documents somewhere?
Thankfully the edits saved us from more prison savagery. One fight was more than enough. Although we will never find out why Caro was limping. I will take a guess that Caro was exonerated of murder because of Adonis but she might have served time for obstruction. Obstruction was mentioned at one point.
Joe in the trunk phone call: it seemed he said exactly what Sara asked. Later we heard the whole call when someone played it for Mayorga. I think it was the caller who mentioned something about “codes”.
I was shocked as well to see Eva alive after being shot. It took me a minute or so to realize it was due to a time jump.
Very disappointed about Rivas Macin. Did he resign from the presidency? Is that what made them release Josefina? This wasn’t clear to me.
The bad guys kidnapped Jaime, too? What was the purpose? Rivas Macin mentioned the poor Bracamontes boy, who’s practically dead. And then there was a very quick cut to a pic of a badly beaten Jaime with Josefina, both tied up. Did Jaime get released or did he die in captivity? Edits and timeshifts, strike again.
I miss Teresa Mendoza.
Taking one for the team, novelera? LOL!

El Final del Paraíso
Thanks, deb. I love your recaps and your wicked sense of humor.
Words of Wisdom #32
“Your love life is more active than our politics”—Nelly to Berrios on the impending collapse of his campaign
“I can’t allow the organization to destabilize”—Black Hand’s warning to Moncho & Mari (But did he boink Dayana or was that only one lousy unpassionate kiss?)
“They say brilliant ideas are born from insanity”—Shadow to Santi when he asks to hear his “crazy idea”.
“I don’t do anything for free”—Dayana to the cartel members during the XY4 breakfast meeting.
“This isn’t about calling myself boss or doing like the Mexicans and praying to Malverde” --Titi to Pilar on taking action for revenge.
Lucia is safe far away but what happened to Ximena’s daughter?
I miss Natalia, too. I’m waiting for her to join forces with Lucrecia.
So, fully clothed in bed, CataG and Albeiro didn’t do the deed? Did Abeiro even take off his shoes? Is this because of the HIV or are they just trying to reclaim their virginity? They talked all night but not a word from Albeiro about Valeria?
I guess the suspense has to last a while longer.
dondi356
excellent recap Juanita, I don't know how you managed to piece this show together, I'm thinking only Dr. Who and his Tardis will be able to save the day.
moving right along...
and once again in the earlier shorts, Juan talks about documents that will make Carmelo invincible, and he is spared.
when Isa clubbed Joe, talk about psycho eyes.
I've always liked the Sara character, her father and mother's daughter, I didn't think they would taint her character by having her kill another, but Joe's madness surely needs to be stopped.
I'm still sold on what a great story this is but at this point, I'm ok with the editors racing to the end, I'm thinking the final will be uncut.
