La Usurpadora - Capitulo 21 - What you won't do for love...or revenge.
Labels: usurpadora
While I'm happy they spared us the details of Paola and Manuel, I still saw enough and no amount of brain bleach can remove those images. Oh, that he would have had a heart attack after the first kiss.
If we had any doubt about Paola - I know we didn't - her sleeping with Manuel... demonstrates she has not changed.
I'm glad the evil siblings left their dogs behind though I only saw two. Pascual forcing Manuel to resign was fun!
And yes Molina got a serious beat down. It was not pretty and like you said, it was a bit too much. I wanted him to get his but they could have alluded to his beating.
I'm in shock that Carlos turned down Gemma. It may not make up for his lack of intelligence but he wins major points for me. If Paulina does pick him, I'm going with Jane Austen's view of marriages from "Sense and Sensibility." If he is fortunate enough to get Paulina, she will make him a better man and she'll have the family she wants.
Lis was the winner in tonight's episode! I love your characterization of her mic drop.
Both abuelas know about Paulina...not good. The poor kids will find out in a bad way (a prediction). Do we know what Paola's mother has to do to get the money Paola promised her?
Paulina should know that she is still not safe so meeting with Wilson under shady circumstances was idiotic. Yes Ria completely questionable judgement!
It makes sense that Paulina would be kidnapped (again) in our closing episodes. Manuel (the masked figure) is inept so we'll see how that goes. And with Terry gone, he and Paola will mess this up; perhaps, they'll kill one other.
Loved both "Paola, having come home late again, continues to dish out metaphors and aphorisms at Wilson" and "Carlos decides that there is no better person to give the sensitive information to than a woman with memory issues, and so he spills the truth about the twins". Fantastic.
"He swaps her pleasant company..." and "Polyamorous Paulina" were other favorites.
Karen, you are keeping the heat on with "While I'm happy they spared us the details of Paola and Manuel, I still saw enough and no amount of brain bleach can remove those images". I could not have said it any better! :) Bile rising...
So I gather Pasqual did not accept Pedro's resignation? Pedro's father is so prejudiced and bullying, I feel for him trying to summon the courage to tell him. Yes, it seems Osvi is the heart and soul of their home which has quickly turned into disarray. Pedro just looked like he lost his best friend. Indeed he has.
Manuel didn't have the guts to kill Terry but eliminating Wilson, his supposed rival was easier.
Terry really seemed devastated by Manuel's betrayal. Yes, I saw two dogs leave, likely now to be homeless, wandering the streets. Ack.
Arcadia seems bursting at the seams to tell someone, anyone, that Paola is her sister. Can anyone tell me please what Paola said at their meeting? She seemed to be chastising her for how she treated her as a child...
I liked that Lis has confidence but felt a bit for Diego. I don't think there was anything he could have done. Molina had him by the short hairs. Molina did get his.
In viewing the seesaw affection from Paulina regarding Carlos and Facundo, I suspect Carlos is riding a bit higher in the seat. I do believe he loves Paulina and his gentle but firm rebuff of Gema scored high.
Manuel as a crazed kidnapper. What could possibly go wrong?
Ria, just sensational. You've outdone yourself!!
Diana
The two then almost get into a brawl, deciding which one of them is going to protect Paulina from all the earthly harm.
It happens in every telenovela but I always enjoy it. Two males battling for the protection of the lovely "hembra". Mother Nature rules. Not sure whom to root for, if anybody. But did like the prospect of the endearing Montse being able to adopt a child. Hopefully her nurse's salary will be enough to provide for them both.
And agree with everybody that the Molina battering scene was shocking. As was the bedroom romp of Manuel and Paola. Yes, even the little we saw was very, very disturbing. Have to admire Paola's determination though to do whatever it takes to get his unquestioning loyalty back. She has a wicked way with words--referring to his tie as a "leash" and encouraging him to no longer wear it.
DIANA...You were right. Paola was remonstrating with her adoptive mother about her neglect, her lack of caring, her selfish interest in her own well-being, rather than her daughter's, her indifference to Paola's bouts of depression etc.
I assume the inconvenient Wilson is done for, given the blood running from his mouth. Perhaps he will live long enough to rat out Paola, but otherwise, I'm okay with him exiting this mortal coil. Stealing from the needy children in Colombia was all we needed to know about that non-galán.
Can't believe that Friday is the last show. I'll be in Charlotte but will look forward to watching it when I return.
Karen - I was glad to see that they left the dogs behind as well! And like Diana, I thought your comment on 'no amount of brain bleach' that can erase that scene with Manuel was so perfect and spot on!
Diana - oh, thanks for reminding me! I added that scene into the recap as well. As JudyB noted above, when Arcadia showed up and saw Paola, Paola said: "Oh, Arcadia, you love me so little that you didn't even notice". And Arcadia, genius that she is, naturally assumed Paola is talking about cutting her hair. In turn, Paola explained that that it was her twin sister living with them all this time. Arcadia tried to defend herself: she gave Paola everything, Paola is ungrateful. Paola rebuffed with scenes from her (not happy, but arguable not the most terrible imo) childhood and quickly deduced that all Arcadia wants from her even now is money. So she will give her a good sum in exchange for some yet unspecified help.
Also, it does seem that Carlos is edging Nava out slightly. It was interesting how she was so calm talking about Carlos and almost gushing about unpredictable Nava. But I agree (and to Karen's point above also) that she appears to be leaning towards a practical approach - Carlos and family.
JudyB - I guess Paola does get some the medal for the most persevering. This was certainly above and beyond. I, too, assume WIlson is dead, but I guess we find out today. No big loss there for sure, but what an idiot that one to follow and stay with Paola, even seeing how she treats him. Unbelievable how fast this is moving indeed!!
Polyamorous Paulina
Manuel gets some courage from somewhere
Thankfully they spare us the details, but Paola is not willing to waste a second of her sacrifice.
After this information share occurs, Molina doesn’t fare too well at all. We are suddenly grateful that sucker punches were all Nava learned during his stint in police force,
Lis drops the mic and leaves!
Diana, I'm feeling badly for Diego too. Kudos to Lis for realizing her self-esteem was part of her problem and standing up for herself. But Viewerville knows Diego is an exceptional boy. Maybe in time, they'll reconnect.
Argh! Paola does have a knack for seduction doesn't she? That whole necktie and leash thing. Cringe-inducing, but also inspired.
Thank you too Ria. I can't think of the actress playing Arcacia right now but she did a wonderful job with her facial expressions. Indignation and then pique at being told the truth. And while it is sad that she was ignored I agree that many children suffer far more.
Diana
Manuel/Teresa/Paola... I can't see this ending well. Teresa has a truly sick obsession with him and in her way she is just as sick otherwise as Paola.
My gut is telling me right now that this will end with Paola dead and Paulina impersonating her for the rest of her life. She is suited to the role of First Lady and a much better mother than Paola ever had been.
It wouldn't bother me for Wilson to be dead. He's slime.
I agree with everyone--Paulina is probably going with the sensible choice. Karen, thanks for mentioning "Sense and Sensibility." I enjoyed reading Jane Austen's books wa-a-a-y back when I was in high school.
I was not surprised that Carlos turned down Gema. Despite having an affair with Gema, Carlos does seem to be an honest man. Accepting Gema's "indecent proposal" would have been out of character for him IMO.
I was actually expecting Manuel to have a heart attack. He sure looked shocked...and oh so clumsy.
Diana, "I liked that Lis has confidence but felt a bit for Diego." Oh I felt sorry for Diego too. He may have agreed to the plan at first, but he fought it all the way. I do hope Liz gives him a second chance.
I think Paulina felt safe in meeting with Wilson because she was not aware that he came to Mexico with Paola. Had she known that he was with Paola, she would have been more cautious.
Is Wilson still alive? He sure looked dead to me.
Diana and Niecie, ITA that while I am happy Liz is loving herself, I felt for Diego. He is a nice boy put in a horrible situation by his awful tio.
UA - yes I think the show will end as you have predicted with the twins.
Rgv Chick - great points regarding Carlos, essentially being honest, and Paulina not knowing Wilson had come to Mexico with her wretched sister.
I'm with all of you that Wilson is most likely dead and that's ok.
I don't see Paola repenting, either. This is a classic superstitious view of identical twins with one Good and one Evil.
Karen .. "The crazy happens so fast" ..so true.
Manuel looked like a deer caught in the headlights when Paola crawled on board. Yikes . She certainly has kept her dance card full. Sex seems to be her trademark way of getting her way. And then we get treated to another confrontation between Terryfying and Manual. Manhandled Manuel is caught between a rock and a hard , crazy place...Terryfying and APpaolaing. OMG.
Did they really have to show us Molina getting another beating...this one even bloodier and more violent? Ugh. Telenovelas seem to be getting more and more violent and graphic . Dragon showcase torture last night. Ugh
Emma Thompson, Kate Winslet, Hugh Grant and Alan Rickman. Add Greg Wise (Emma's real life hubby) and it was a dream cast.
If I only had 2 movies to watch - it would be this and Pride and Prejudice (with Keira Knightly).
Strange that one sister kissed two horrible toads (Manuel and Wilson) and the other, two not quite galans. Still yearning for a magical, passionate, can't live without you kiss and Manuel certainly does not quality. Shudder...
Diana
"Manhandled Manuel is caught between a rock and a hard , crazy place...Terryfying and APpaolaing. OMG". HA! :)
Diana
Tonight we're going to find out IF Wilson is dead. Speaking of a growing Body Count: whatever happened to Paulina's BFF in Colombia ?
Susanlynn: I'm getting the sense Paulina will end up with Carlos. On Gema: now that she's Secretary of State. Is she next in line for the Presidency ?
UA: Wilson calling Paulina to meet in a dark alley was a BAD IDEA.
Karen: I think both Liz & Emilio will HATE Paulina if the truth comes out about the twins story.
Los Pinos must have some secret chambers or something LOL.
How stupid do you have to be before you figure out you should not have gone down to a dark parking area with no secret service people to protect U
From crazyass disgruntled ex emplyees?
And I also think that Manuel murdered
Poor dumb Wilson. On purpose.
So who will the the rescuer be? Nava or carlos? Who dies during the rescue
Attemped? I don't think Manu has a chance of Surviving, or his sister..or whatever she is to him.
That was so stupid of paulina to go down there and she knew it was that's why She almost called for help. This is just for tv right? Cuz no self respecting government would allow the
First lady to go some place alone like
That. Right? Ok its just a story.
I don't like gema.
I vote arcadia unfit mother of the century. Give her a crown of poison ivy.
This was good Tia. Thanks. This will be a wild ride.
Urban - oh, I hope Paulina gets her identity back in the end. But wouldn't put it past the writers to not do it either at this point!
Susanlynn - so many gems of yours today: "Manhandled Manuel" and "Terryfying and APpaolaing" are simply amazing. Manuel did almost look scared when Paola made her move! Also I, too, would have preferred Paulina to stay with Nava, and am less enthused with this prospect now. But I so agree with you that Carlos is so 'meh' that it seems she is settling, but maybe I need to put a beanie on and believe her to be in love.
Steve - yes, so many loose ends still. Indeed - what about Andrea? Will they have time to resolve it all?
SpanProf - we are running out of the bad guys! Just the main ones left. I guess timely too, given we are inching closer to the end.
Jarifa - thanks for popping in! Hope your week is off to a good start.
Nina - it really was stupid of her to go down to the parking lot with Wilson, wasn't it? Oh, and thanks for bringing it up - I meant to comment that I wasn't sure if Manuel is such a great shot that he meant to shoot Wilson and happened to hit him with Paulina standing so close, or if he just accidentally pulled the trigger and could have shot Paulina just as easily!
