Friday #90 Part I

There's Kemal returning from the sniper's sights. He's brought flowers, food, clothes and a new phone for Nihan. "Nihan, I'm back!" She comes in from the garden, and right away he notices her mood shift. "Is everything okay?" He kneels to present her with the flowers, and takes her pic with them. "stay with me always." Nihan is sad, and Kemal knows something's up.

Flashback to Emir's series of threats and Nihan's decision. She'll go back to Emir, on one condition: that he give her one day more, to convince Kemal that this is HER decision. Otherwise, Nihan says, Kemal will never give up [that's called Amor Eterno, Nihan].

Emir resists at first, but sees in his mind's eye Nihan's suicide attempt [or his mother's fall? I couldn't see it clearly.] Emir agrees, okay, one day, 7 a.m., or else. I'll surprise you with who I torture first.

Switch to Asu. She calls Tufan, any news? No. Asu tells Tufan just make sure Emir can't find Kemal. Asu adds that she's going to visit Tufan's mother, Nursen. Asu wants to learn more about her mother "before she became a zombie." [Asu's words]

Asu introduces herself to Nursen and is warmly greeted. Asu asks Nursen to please keep her secret. Nobody -- especially Kemal -- can know she is Galip's daughter. Nursen agrees.

They look at some old photos, and talk about how both Tufan and Asu grew up without their parents. Nursen says Asu is "lucky," because she was raised by Hakki. Tufan, however, grew up without a father [no more clues on Tufan's upbringing]. Nursen kindly tells Asu to think of her as her mother.

Talking about Hakki, Nursen says, "I wish I had known Hakki....I sent letters to Zonguldak, but I never received anything back." Asu stiffens and looks upset: "you sent letters to Zonguldak?" [Zonguldak is the mining town].

In a later scene, Asu tells Hakki about her visit to Nursen. Hakki says it's best not to dig around in the past. Asu, aggravated, says she has no clues about the past.

Asu leaves Hakki and calls her asst, Ashley, asking for a driver. Asu wants to go to Zonguldak tomorrow.

Friday #90 Part II

Emir instructs Tufan: "Nihan has until 7 a.m. Wait with your men, and if she doesn't show up, Leyla will be first!" Tufans gulps, "Leyla?" [he looks like he'd rather it be Tariq or someone].

Meanwhile, Nihan has asked Kemal to take her to the beach. She's wearing a new summery frock. Kemal is trying hard: "remember I met you in the sea, I'll never leave you, I'll never lose you, have I told you how much I love you? I'll be telling you that for the rest of our lives."

Lots of bittersweet frolicking beach scenes, swimming, lying in sand, Nihan knowing she has to leave him, and Kemal confused about what's happening.

Kemal is alerted by Zehir, a surprise is ready. Kemal takes her to a lime green van, looks like a spruced up old VW van. "This will be our means of escape and our refuge." More Kemal love declarations and promises. Nihan remains troubled.

N: Maybe we made the decision too fast.
K: Are you worried about Ozan?
N: Did you know your sister is pregnant?
K: No!
N: I need to be with my brother. I don't need your permission. I'm not going with you.

Nihan, sobbing, locks herself in the bathroom. She texts Emir: "I'll be there. Don't you dare hurt anyone."

Kemal, alarmed, is talking to Nihan through the door. He suggests they stay in the bungalow longer if that would make Nihan feel more comfortable.

K: I need to understand.
N: You can't understand everything, my hero.
K: Are you afraid?
N: We'll always be in Emir's shadow.
K: You don't trust me.
N: Not a question of trust. Emir will haunt us the rest of our lives. He's obsessed with me.
K: We're together now, he can't find us, it's impossible!

In other developments, Zeynep gets nauseous and Ozan tells Zehir about her pregnancy. Right away Zehir asks Ozan "you're not gonna change your mind, are you?"

Kemal calls Zeynep and congratulates her. "I'm happy for you." Kemal tells Zeynep that it's now even more important that Ozan turn himself in, he should do it for his future and his child.

Another Soydere man is bringing flowers. It's Tariq going to Banu's. He walks up to her house with a smile on his face, just in time to see Banu come out accompanied by a handsome man. Flowers thrown to the ground. Later, in the office, Tariq is rude
to Banu, and she accuses him of acting like a child.

Emir was served with the divorce papers. He crumples them up.

Emir called Zeynep and said Nihan was coming back, because Zeynep betrayed them in an exchange not to harm her child. Ozan overhears a bit and is suspicious, "what did Emir promise you?" Zeynep says "Emir promised to protect you [Ozan]."

Then back to our struggling couple for the final scene:

K: What's up with you? You've already paid a high price.
N: What if it's not over?
K: You're acting strangely. I need you to be sure.
N: Let's enjoy this moment together.
K: Moment? We have the rest of our lives!

Nihan, to herself, "this night will be our last."

Hi Patio, sorry this is choppy, but recaptcha ate a more "literary" version.

This was a disturbing and frustrating episode. True, Nihan is in an impossible situation, but she is reliving what she did 5 plus years ago, giving in to the pressure without telling Kemal the truth, instead convincing him she has doubts about their relationship. It is all rather circular. I guess Nihan is just defeatsd and wants the yo-yo over?

More hints that Hakki is not such a nice guy. If Asu is going to Zonguldak "tomorrow" to investigate, I hope we learn some more soon.

Nina, always with your sharp eyes on Kemal. So true about the bags under his eyes, but even sad, right, still lookin' good.

Thanks so much Clara! I hate it when re captcha eats a comment. It’s happened to me so many times. Frustrating.

I’m wondering if Hakki has some other reason to get revenge on Galip. Is it possible that he also used Mujan? Maybe he didn’t let Asu come back with her when she went for Emir? Or maybe he prevented her from returning to Galip when she was pregnant? It’s just weird that he planned this revenge for so many years. You’d think he’d do everything to get Mujan back as soon as possible, comatose or not.

Hopefully Asu finds something very important in Zonguldak. Maybe we’ll finally get information on tufan’s upbringing.

Ditto on Nihan making the same mistake as the first time when she broke Kemal’s heart. She should at least let him know why. Sadly to him, this will look like she plays some kind of game.

If I were Kemal, I’d wonder why Zeynep never told me anything about her pregnancy. How come Ozan never told Kemal either? You’d think that would have convinced Kemal about not having Ozan go into police custody.

Good day, Patio. I heartfelt thank you to AnonFri and Clara for these splendid recaps. I'm still having trouble seeing the entire episodes and there are days when I can't see any of it, but I know I can count on these recaps to keep up. Friday's is one of the episodes I completely missed, so thank you Clara for the recap, especially the conversation between Nihan and Kemal.

Can't stand Emir and poor Nihan! When will her misery end? I suppose Emir will have to die before she gets any relief. I hope he gets an anvil to match his wickedness.

They would look happy. But I want more
Than snippets of happiness, I want it all. So I'll keep watching to see how this sad love story ends up.
