El Dragón #59, 12/23/19: Follow the Money
Ishiro
went into Chisca's room, but pulled back from getting into the
horizontal mambo with her. Predictably, she was frustrated and
irritated as he left her hotel room, telling her he would see her at
home. A little later Chisca went into the elevator to leave. Ishiro
was just far enough behind her not to be seen, but he took the stairs
down.
Kenia
was removed from the truck and put into a chair. Her kidnapper
turned out to be Gary, who got on her case for treating this whole
thing as a joke. She said that Flaco would eventually (if not
sooner) found her out because he was one of the best hackers. She
kept telling Gary he could trust her, but his manner of intimidation
has the earmarks of a sadistic rapist. She kept trying to get him to
trust her and he finally gave her the last chance. He wanted numbers
on Miguel's business. Gary reported back to Edna with the names of
the international Mafia elite who were at the meeting. She now knows
that the Pig is still alive and squealing and decided to continue to
allow him to believe that they believe him dead.
Miguel
and Ishiro practiced their aikido and Ishiro was somewhat off his
game. When Miguel asked him why he said that he had spoken with
Tadamichi and now has to return to Japan. Miguel didn't like this
because he needs people around him that he can trust. Ishiro told
him that his people make him feel like family. They continued
practicing.
Edna's
husband returned and told her that Duarte is prectically a hermit.
She told him that the Pig had not been slaughtered and had met with
Miguel over something big and very serious.
Adela
prepared to visit her grandmother and talked briefly with Miguel
about the foundation. He told her if she needed money for everything
she was to take it out of the drawer. She was a bit shocked at the
sight of so much dinero in a sideboard drawer as he handed her a wad
that was at least an inch thick. He talked about their spending more
time together soon. She put the money into her bag and said that
Peligros would be going with her.
They
drove to a spot where she was to meet someone and Peligros got
concerned. She insisted on getting out of the car alone. She went
into a beauty spa and eavesdropped on a model's agenda for the day.
Kenia
went to Miguel's place, she said to see Jorge. Dora told her he was
out in the garden. Miguel showed her the way. Dora did not look
happy about this. She found Jorge, pulled out his earbuds, and
apologized to him. She told him she had lied and came to tell him
the truth. He didn't answer her [and we all hope he will tell her
to take a long walk on a short pier].
Adela
was going shopping for sexy workout clothes. [WTF?]
Kenia
told Jorge about Christian/Abdul. Nothing that contradicts anything
we've seen or heard thus far except for the omission of telling him
that she killed him. She said she hadn't told him until now because
she was afraid something would happen to him. He forgave her. She
asked him to move back in with her. Rosario, Dora, and Chisca
watched from the picture window which had a direct view. Of the
three only Dora looked less than pleased at this. [Gary is also not
likely to be pleased and Jorge might find the blood stain on the
baseboard.
Adela
went back to the spa to ask about a rumba class, which started in
five minutes. She was much less clumsy than she pretended to be.
Jimena
introduced the two techie entrepreneurs to Flaco, saying they were
going to freelance with them. Two existing employees exchanged looks
of suspicion.
Edna's
husband visited Duarte who now knows that the Pig is alive and Miguel
is out of control. Of course Duarte still wants the presidency. He
also thought that Edna knew more than she was telling.
Adela
did well in the class, finally introducing herself to Carmen (but
saying her name is Myra). This is a risk because Carmen said she was
from Ciudad Jimenez.
Miguel
offered Hector protection, but Hector declined it. Miguel tried to
get him to get other opinions about his paralysis, but Hector
refused. [WTF???]
Adela
and Carmen talked over a glass of green juice. Carmen described her
husband as controlling, but when Adela expressed sympathy she said
“Don't worry; he's dead.”
Federico
wanted to meet with Miguel but Jimena put him off. Flaco's BS
detector seemed to have been put on alert and he put the guy in his
place.
Edna
and her husband talked about Miguel's money laundering. They seem to
know a little more than before. No real details. He suggested they
leave together and she told him she'd follow after making a call,
which she waited to do until he was out the door.
Kenia
and Jorge behaved like newlyweds back at her place. Her phone rang
and she said it was Pilar. We know that it had to be anyone else.
She left the kitchen with her phone in hand. He took a bite of his
sandwich and found the blood stain.
It
was Flaco on the phone and he was peeved that she was playing him and
Jorge. She told him she didn't owe him any explanations and ended the
call. When she returned to the kitchen Jorge asked why there was a
blood stain. She started to spin a lie, he told her he won't accept
lies, and she told him the truth., that she had killed Abdul because
he was attacking her. He was shocked for about a second but accepted
it. She cried in relief.
Adela
went to Carmen's place, which she is casing for something. Carmen
came back with booze and didn't want to talk about her husband. They
started drinking.
Miguel
talked with Tadamichi, who said he didn't like Jimena as a possible
spouse for him although he considered her a good financier. Miguel
asked if Ishiro could stay in Mexico and Tadamichi agreed to it, as
his work was just beginning.
Hector
did not reveal to Edna the rest of what he knew about Pig, but she
was not worried. She said that they would all know soon enough.
Ishiro
brought Miguel a report that did not please him. He was not pleased
when the receptionist (Julia) told him that Adela had not returned.
He called and reminded her they had a dinner date. Adela lied about
being at her grandmother's place and she was on her way. She ended
the call and told Carmen she had to leave. Carmen said something
about having no friends and it looked like Adela was going to cave
when Miguel called again. She went inside to take the call.
Peligros
was looking at his watch and stated getting worried when he spotted a
strange car. Adela told Miguel she was unexpectedly shanghied to a
birthday party and she would be a little late. She ened the call and
it looked like Miguel rang her back as she turned around to look out
the window at Carmen. The driver of that car seemed to have come for
her.

Yes, Gary's manner was disturbing. I doubt Gary includes his field methods in his reports to Edna.
This seem to be a setup episode. So Jorge is back living with Kenia, Adela has become Carmen's bud, and Ishiro refuses to be just another game for Chisca.
The surprise to me was how often Mig kept phoning Adela. Adela might have more in common with Carmen than she thinks. Could Mig be as controlling with his mujer as Pig is with his?

First, thank you for going up and beyond the call of duty to post a recap on Christmas. It was a great to take my mind off of the hectic happenings of today.
It was a pretty boring episode, so reading your recap of the scenes I >>FF'd through filled in the holes.
The question now becomes whether or not Jorge tells someone what happened with Kenia so she can get the help she needs to get Gary and Edna off her back.
