TELEMUNDO Y MÁS (#2): La Doña1, El Señor de los Cielos 7, y más: Week of December 23, 2019
Here's Page 2 for the week. The current evening telenovelas are as follows (all times are Eastern Standard Time):
• 9-10PM—La Doña1**
• 10-11PM—El Señor de los Cielos 7
**Telemundo is running an abridged version of season 1 of La Doña this week and next (and perhaps the week after that). The intention is to prepare viewers for season 2, which will begin on January 13. It gives people who haven't seen season 1 a good understanding of what took place, and it also helps refresh the memory of those who saw season 1, which aired in 2016.
Everyone is welcome to join in the conversation. Since discussions of all the Telemundo novelas share the same page, please remember to put the name of the telenovela you're referring to at the top of your post, so readers can easily find the conversations they're looking for.
By common agreement, this group DOES NOT discuss previews, trailers, or any other plot information not found in a current or past episode of the current production. Spoilers WILL be removed by the admin. This includes reference to earlier productions of the story, and even the original novel. Thanks for your cooperation!

I've been watching the youtube versions starting with 10 and now on 15. They are a bit slower pace, more nuances, where nothing is said, and entire story lines Telemundo is cutting. I'm liking it.
"Kalfa: was a general term in the Ottoman Empire, for the women attendants and supervisors in service in the palace."
I've been avoiding Telemundo's version because they are ahead of me and it looks like New Years morning might be their last recording according to the schedule.
and what would be a day with out a good smirk from Hurrem?
anyone else?
YES… I AM LOVING the recaps form 2 years ago... I like the idea of prequel..?
I miss her and I even can stand SNOZEL the love interest.. its funny watching them make love and her hair stays in place..
I hope they give her A RED HOT LOVER .. this time... muss up her hair a little!!
LA DONA LA DONA!!!!!
deb, I am watching on YouTube as well and enjoying it. I'm currently in the middle of #13. I plan to continue watching episodes when I can find the time. Too bad that Telemundo made a mess of this.
dondi356
Dondi, only 126 episodes to go, ha!
a lot of the confusion on the Telemundo choppers is gone, as I've never heard Nigar Kalfa called by another name.
"Valide sultan was the title held by the "legal mother" of a ruling sultan of the Ottoman Empire. "
and some one-liners lay the story out, like Hurrem Hatun saying something like, there is no life behind these (palace) walls unless you are a man.
loved Ibrahim's trip home, but his return shows that with all the power and money he has, he is but a slave.
FYI, from the trailer, Friday's episode is clearly based on the Dee Dee and Gypsy Blanchard Munchausen by Proxy case that has been covered by several cable channels. I'll tune in because I'm a disfigured victim of such a monster mother who was ordered by priests to disfigure me to extort her way out of divorce or damnation. I've been trying to make authorities aware that this is a huge overlooked religion scandal.

Juanita and Novelera, sorry that I didn't specify that I'm watching OTA on the East Coast. Earlier this week (Wed. morning?), I woke up and was shocked to see El Sultan airing in the old movie slot without English captions. I won't be a regular watcher because the story is too complicated.

I didn't see the credits because they flashed so quickly, but I recognized Jeannette Lehr in the abusive mother's role (Patricia Arquette won an Emmy for the same part). Lehr played a nutty menacing sister-in-law in Mi Corazon Insiste and a school principal in Relaciones Peligrosas. The plot followed closely the actual murder case. It's always chilling for me to see actors playing roles similar to my nightmare life with my religious bully mother. Piper Laurie and Sissy Spacek in Carrie was the first example.

Dondi356: The Casillas family plans to rescue Diana from custody.
1.) Colonel Alfaro still an uppity piece of SHIT & arrogant asshole.
2.) El Capo & Valdes forming an alliance along with Ojeda.
3.) No Chema appearance tonight.
4.) Jaime getting chewed out by Nagging Berenice.
5.) Berenice decides to go on either a shopping tour or heading to the DF suburbs.
6.) Carla calls Jaime for some exclusive interview. I think Jaime has deadly plans in store for her if Carla starts snooping around.
7.) Amado, Rutila, Izzy, Skinny & Co., set up a coordinated plan to get Diana out of custody & rescue the sexy Blonde.
8.) Colonel Alfaro still an uppity expletive.
9.) Ambar getting frisky with Isturiz as Luzma watches.
10.) Ambar & Luzma doing a tit for tat with jabs & insults.
11.) Joaquin & Violeta are here!
12.) Ojeda, El Capo & Dalila coordinating more chaos.
13.) Navarro busts the former Venezuelan Ambassador to Mexico, Caravan Chick & her kid.
14.) Navarro takes them to DEA HQ.
15.) Shootout occurs in the outskirts of the DF.
16.) Colonel Alfaro calls Castillo about the situation.
17.) Amado points his gun at Alfaro demanding Diana be released.
I'm watching the recordings of the middle of the night episodes. It's interesting that they're showing longer episodes than one hour. The one that came after Viktoria knocked over that candle while Suleiman's sons were playing a game was two hours long. It appears that each subsequent one has been an hour and a half.
I'm going to refrain from commenting because it appears that some of you are watching different time periods of what's been going on.
I can mostly tell when they've cut something. There was one whole discussion of one of the guys in the sultan's cabinet who'd been disgraced and they never showed what he did in the first place.
So, I'm accepting the crumbs Telemundo has given me And, in some ways, I'm enjoying these more than the hour long episodes. For one thing, they show either none at all or very little scenes from the one before. And they've done away with that thing that always bugs me about Telemundo's process: 1. Show scenes from the one before. 2. Begin the current episode, and 3. About 10 minutes into the episode play the theme song and views of cast members. I've hated that since forever. Why not just start with the theme song and characters and then show the episode?
And, back to the crumbs, I'm very grateful I'm getting to see this. I feel bereft with no TN to watch.
I watched the first episode of the refrito of La Doña and remembered that I had seen it before and gave up on the novela. I really like Aracely and have seen her in many novelas. I can't seem to get over the corruption of Doña Bárbara, one of my top 5 faves of all time. I was reading the novel in my Spanish class at the same time. Just an amazing coincidence. The novel, of course, written in 1929, had a lot less sex! And a lot more about the life of the vaqueros on the llanos.
Just a reminder from the Telemundo y Más pages: "By common agreement, this group DOES NOT discuss previews, trailers, or any other plot information not found in a current or past episode of the current production. Spoilers WILL be removed by the admin." This definitely applies to the brief previews of La Doña2 that Telemundo has been airing. Please do not discuss any plot elements shown in these previews.
I've noticed that Telemundo capítulo 19 begins at the same place as youtube 17 and ends at the same place as the end of youtube 18.
