say, some of your comments makes me wonder if you some how missed Wed. show, (which no one commented on). Tumaco was a wrap and they were back with the General with the flash drive plotting out the cleanup, Ped was in an army vehicle with a bottle of Tequila, Amalia joined him, and... the Kiss, that Jones walked up on. After the air cleared Jones went after El Gobernador (probable location from the flash drive) but El Gobernador captured Jones and off to that jungle camp. Amalia, Ped, and the other two on the rescue mission also got grabbed.

Also late to the party. And, Anita, thanks a zillion for the two fine recaps! I am struggling with comprehension on this one. I hadn't realized how very much I was leaning on Spanish subtitles until they got very scarce on this novela. The combination of the Colombian accents and subtitles that either aren't there at all, or show up randomly have left me frustrated. Mostly I can get it without recaps, but I need to back up again and again to re-hear dialog. This takes too long to watch a TN! Of course, the easiest one for me to understand is Mark Tacher. I work with Mexican immigrants. My profe is a Mexican-American, and that's the accent I'm used to.
It looks like Vargas is not going to go down until the last episode. He's despicable and our heroes seem unable to catch him in the act.
And Jorge! After apparently years of infidelity he's outraged that Amalia now has a boo. He's using her line of work and frequent absences to get custody of his children. But it's really about: how dare she have another man? He doesn't seem to get it that she was faithful to him until her IT team discovered his cell phone full of trysts with prostitutes.
I didn't quite understand why Amalia's team were so intent on grabbing up the ex-wife of Sr. Eme. She didn't have any idea where he's hiding out.
Pretty steamy scene with Amalia and Gabriel! I loved when he kept showing three fingers to her as they drove off! Tacher is adorable in this one, wiping out my memories of how awful he was in Reina 2.
OK, I'm off to watch tonight's episode.

La dona 2. Can't say I'm sorry to see that La dona will be canceled for an awards show on Thursday. At least no one is likely to be murdered, and no one is likely to be more than mildly sad if they don't get an award!

Monday 3/3/20
Highlights
The confrontation between Ped, Amalia and Jorge ends peacefully, but with some rancor. Amalia and Jorge promise to “talk” later. Jorge is still fuming to see Amalia drive off with Ped. After their talk, they decide that for the sake of their boys, they’ll divorce amicably.
Mr. Eme (aka Mejía Montez and the Secret Mission Team’s only link to El Guapo) was given an offer by Vargas he couldn’t refuse. After a call to Mejía’s ex, telling her where the rendezvous is to take place (a yellow taxi warehouse), Vargas gets there before the Team members do. Eme manages to escape Vargas’ clutches and Vargas makes himself scarce. Ah, he’s abducted, or forced Eme’s ex-wife and his daughter back to the taxi warehouse and calls Eme. Vargas informs Eme that for the good of all, he must turn up dead. If he stays alive, his ex and his daughter will be killed. Not a good choice, since Eme says there’s no way to verify that Vargas kept his word after he’s dead. Later Eme is cornered in a house as the police and Team members close in. He runs out onto a rooftop terrace and hangs himself. When Ortega and Pedraza arrive, moments later, he’s fully dead. Later still, the Team finds the ex and the daughter dead in the back of the yellow taxi they were forced to sit in. Ortega deduces that only Vargas, outside of their Mission Control, could know the rendezvous site.
Mariana is taken to a rehab facility, for her own good. She’s none too happy about the prospect, regardless of how nice the counselor is. Later we see she’s unofficially checked out and is reunited with Wilson (now we know she’s cray cray). At first she’s angry he dumped her at the hospital, but he claims that was the best thing to do. She relents.
Castro’s stint as Eme’s replacement is short-lived. He dies. (HELP: I can’t remember now, how he died. Was it a fiery explosion in his car? I’ve seen so many of those lately.)
Gen Lopes relieves Vargas of his post. He’s to turn in his badge and his gun. He packs up his things and begins to plan his next steps.
The Secret Mission Team is back to Square 1—no way to get to El Guapo. Ortega is not one to give up, though.
El Guapo is seen driving, a way-up in Mexico. He is on the phone—with Vargas. (Did I get that right? I know it was the last scene.)

I can't figure out whether I miss things or whether they're cutting scenes. We saw De Castro weaving around the streets of Bogotá with, IIRC, Jones and someone in hot pursuit. Then we see a crash and he's declared dead.
Apparently Eme was holed up in a property he bought for some woman. I don't think they said why he did this. But her sleazy son called to turn him in for the reward. We heard his mother say she'd never forgive him.
Yep, someone peed in the Ortega gene pool, but it missed Amalia and went straight to Mariana. We also learned that she had been on heroin before, but had been clean for some period of time.
I also recognize the guy I believe you also like, the guitar playing ranch hand from Sin tu Mirada. I watched that one until Reina 2 began. I can only manage one at a time. He was also in the one I watched before this that took place partially in Madrid. He was the campaign manager of a sleazy guy running for Mayor.

I don't think you missed anything with Castro and Telemundo didn't cut the scene. I think the writers and directors wanted to get on to the next big thing. Castro wasn't really all that important and they needed him dead and not captured.

My Telemundo days are on the slim side. The last tn I watched here was Falsa Identidad. Everyone loved it--except me, I think. Well, I loved the premise, but it seemed too hurried for all the things that had to take place to take place. I think they could have done more with the Falsa Identidad and the human trafficking than they did. I did enjoy seeing Big Ed back on the screen, even if he was a rather despicable character.

Fernada fronted for Sebas in order for him to get out and sneak into the hospital [ Noelia in the critical care unit] if he could get past guards .. well it s bad for Noelia's security...so can Luis...duh!!
later , after bummping into him in the lobby..AG and Matamoros hemmed up Sebas in the parking lot, and he is at AG’s mercy..

La dona 2. Yep, Halimacandy, Felina is Interpol, or at least collaborating with an Interpol agent to get her son out of trouble. But it's very possible she could betray them or they could betray her. There seems to be no love lost.

a Faraday cage ("is an enclosure used to block electromagnetic fields" - wiki) was the term Jones threw out as to why M and Vargas were meeting in the elevator.

Checking in to say hello. My thanks to those who are carrying the torch.
Not finding much enjoyment in the Telemundo offerings these days. I’m half watching La Doña since they decided to kill Angel. I’m half watching Pacifico, too. I am looking forward to 100 Dias Para Enamorarse as a welcomed change of pace.
For me, Felina is one of the few positives in La Doña. So glad she’s still the same character I loved in ESDLC. IMHO, she’s much like our beloved Teresa Mendoza—strong, brave and intelligent. Yes, she’s an outlaw but not bloodthirsty and she can be forgiving, too. I’m counting on her to find a way to hand Padilla Sr. over to Interpol and hand Braulio over to AG without causing too much damage.
There was a mention of Los Casillas on last night’s Doña. I’m guessing we will get a rebranded ESDLC in the near future.
As for Pacifico, Mark Tacher’s Pedraza is entertaining. There’s not much else to keep me hooked but I’ll keep trying.
I don’t know if anyone here is watching both shows. Interesting that each show has a workaholic law enforcement officer whose dangerous line of work has led to the destruction of their families. One is male and one is female. Generally speaking, I wonder if gender makes a difference, consciously or unconsciously, in how some viewers feel about each of the characters.
Deb, you’re way ahead of me on Magnificent Century. I’m only on #55. Am I supposed to be sympathetic to Hurrem? She’s horrid. In comparison, Kosem was a superior sultana.

I've had some trouble with subtitles, 66 they were lagging and 68 they were way early.
yep, Hurrem is something, she is driving everyone bonkers and just doesn't know when to quit, how easy it is to send someone to their death, not that she would ever kill someone, the perfect wife you know, it's looking like the Sultan may be moving on, ut-oh.
the third season introduced a new character that is not only interesting, but is likable, what?
I find the Sultan fascinating, ruling the entire world, and not only creating that whole image every minute, but doing it, I find their campaigns interesting.
Ibrahim in his arrogance can't find enough holes to dig himself into, did you see the part where he had a bust made of himself?
and puppy eyed Hatice can't get enough drama.
Mustafa has taken all that Hurrem and Mahidevran have thrown at him and is still a nice guy, somehow.

Dondi, I too am getting little joy from Telemundo these days. I'm watching only La Doña, not Operación Pacífico. The little I've seen of O.P. makes it seem like a mash-up of several other novelas, so I figured I'd stick with just the devil I knew. But I am eager to see it end, especially if it's replaced by something much lighter and more enjoyable.
Who was the snuff fan that Lucho was talking to at the start of tonight's episode? Was he the one who sent the note to Romelia threatening to kill her nieces if she didn't provide him with more videos? I keep thinking I missed an episode, but I'm pretty sure I didn't. Of course, my attention often drifted, but I think I would have remembered this pervert. Lucho apparently knows that the perv knows about Romelia, since he asks the perv who else knows about Romelia and him (Lucho). Lucho seems to enjoy talking to the guy about the pleasure he takes in making these films, so he's not afraid the guy is an undercover cop. He even tells the guy that he chooses women who look like his mother, and killing them is like killing her. When the guy asks whether Lucho is willing to take a selfie with him, Lucho says yes, and he doesn't even bother taking the guy up on the suggestion to wear dark glasses and a hat to make it hard to identify him. Of course, Lucho being Lucho, later in the episode he proposes they take a second selfie, after which he attacks the guy, perhaps takes a bite out of his nose, and then kills him. A guy's gotta do what a guy's gotta do.
Meanwhile, Noelia is getting a bit better. She tells Leon that Lucho was the one who kidnapped and tortured her. She wants to go to the station and make an official statement, probably fearing that she could be killed at any moment. Leon tells her that she's too weak, she has to gain back some of her strength first. Of course, this makes me nervous. I tell myself that the writers wouldn't dare kill off Noelia, especially since they had already killed off her sister. But I have no real confidence in the writers' decency. They seem to enjoy showing how nasty (they'd mistakenly say "bold" and "daring") they can be.
It looks as if before long Isabela may find out how wrong she has been to trust Lucho. I fear the writers may give us more painporn, but I doubt they'll kill her off.
Looks as if Leon and Fátima may reconcile. I usually like Carlos Ponce, but in the scene with Fátima, I thought he gave her too many silly bug-eyed looks.
I'm finding Manuel (Braulio's father) rather confusing. He seems to have feelings for his grandson, Diego, but he tells one of his men to follow Diego when he leaves, and make sure he talks to no one. And how, exactly, is the guy supposed to do this? Also, Manuel tells Diego that a member of the ETA had Diego's grandmother killed. But the ETA is a Basque terrorist organization, and I thought that Manuel was supposed to be a Basque terrorist. ??? Later, Manuel tells Braulio that "if Altagracia is keeping you from your son, we'll kill her." Let's hear it for paternal love.
Poor Sebastian manages to escape from AG's torture chamber, only to be found by Matamoros. Like a good puppy with a ball, Matamoros brings Sebastian back to AG. She then prepares to have Matamoros damage some of the nerves in Sebastian's arms, thereby destroying his ability to be a surgeon. I know that lawyers can be disbarred for malpractice. Can writers be barred from being writers because they create this kind of perverted junk?
Ending on a positive note: both telenovelas will be preempted Thursday night by the Spotify awards.

La dona 2. Juanita: Painporn is a good word for what is going on in this novela. It does seem as if Lucho may be tapping into his inner Hannibal Lector, but maybe he was "just" biting the pornographer he killed. At any rate, if the corpse is ever found, it guarantees that Lucho's DNA will be all over it. It looks as if the replacement coming up has an actor who was one of the main characters in Betty en Nueva York. I hope this tn is as sweet--I feel as if we're owed for sticking with Telemundo. :)

Yes, I know that the quality of the subtitles can be spotty. If you notice, there are viewer comments about readability and inaccurate translation from time to time. But I’m still grateful for any subs.
I’ll look forward to the new likable character but likable doesn’t last long at Topkapi.
I agree with you about Suleiman, fascinating character and Halit Ergenç was born to play this role.
Ibrahim is difficult to understand at times. He’s got an inferiority complex because there’s always something or someone to remind him that he’s a converted slave. His inner voice is constantly telling him he’s one more step closer to death and then he does stupid things like commissioning the bust or messing with Nigar (what those two did to Matrakçi was awful).
Uh, Hatice. That needy, wishy-washy princess. I should be more compassionate for the tragedies she’s suffered but I lose patience.

Yes, I know that the quality of the subtitles can be spotty. If you notice, there are viewer comments about readability and inaccurate translation from time to time. But I’m still grateful for any subs.

I agree with you about Suleiman, fascinating character and Halit Ergenç was born to play this role.
Ibrahim is difficult to understand at times. He’s got an inferiority complex because there’s always something or someone to remind him that he’s a converted slave. His inner voice is constantly telling him he’s one more step closer to death and then he does stupid things like commissioning the bust or messing with Nigar (what those two did to Matrakçi was awful).
