SpanProf, I loved your line about Lucho possibly "tapping into his inner Hannibal Lector." I agree, though, that although it looked to me at first as if he was biting off the perv's nose, most probably he was "just" biting him before the kill.

Halimacandy, I don't think Lucho killed the perv in order to make a snuff film. I agree with you that the creeps who like that sort of film want to see women, not an unattractive man. I think Lucho killed him to be sure he wouldn't/couldn't ID Lucho to the police or do anything else that Lucho wouldn't like.

I loved your referring to Noelia's mother as pistol packing momma. And yes, I too would feel a bit happier if she were armed. A pistol in her knitting bag--great line.

I'm not quite sure what if any connection the maid has except a feeling of loyalty. I don't think she's Interpol, and probably not a family member, but I could be wrong. I'm quite sure, though, that she did NOT go out to offer the guards coffee! She wanted to let Interpol know where they could find Manuel. She told this to Felina, and Felina told her it was too dangerous for her to try to leave the house. The maid replied that she could go out through the kitchen. Felina doesn't know that the maid still has Interpol's phone number.

Like you, I'm not sure what AG's motives are regarding José Luis. Is she simply playing him to get her company and assets back, or does she really feel something for him? Probably a bit of both, but if I had to go with one or the other, I'd go with getting her company and assets back.

BTW, I hope you realize that my comment "Let's hear it for paternal love" was dripping in sarcasm.

No novelas tonight!

magnificent century

Deb and Dondi, where are you watching it? I just got Netflix a month ago and it doesn't seem to be on there? I enjoyed El Sultan a lot and was disappointed when Telemundo ran it out in the middle of the night and on the weekend. I DVR'd what I was able to see, but I know there's a lot more.

Magnificent Century / Muhteşem Yüzyıl

novelera-

Telemundo's "El Sultan" was a shortened version of season 1 (of 4), touching on season 2 enough to wrap up the cliffhangers.

dondi is finishing up season 2 and I've started season 3, we are watching the original series on youtube with english subtitles.

Season 2, if you are interested, would start at chapter 25, here,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzwvzUykH_4

you mentioned earlier that you didn't want to do a computer thingy but you know you should be able to connect your computer to your tv and watch it like your dvr setup but with no commercials to mess with.

I've really been enjoying this.

pacifico – parte 1

This recap is not great. I lost one of my sheets with notes on it and then found it. Probably all out of order, but hey…I’m not getting paid for this!

In the office of the President of Colombia, Amalia shows photos and names names of the narcos they’ve taken out of business recently. The Pres just yells at them that they didn’t get El Guapo.

In this same meeting a report is mentioned, written by Jones, in which he details the mistakes made by Operación Pacífico. Later Pedraza and Amalia Ortega are furious with him. The President says that their team is cancelled.

General Lopez and Amalia talk about Vargas. GL is finally convinced that Vargas is the mole, but he says they can’t prove it. Amalia has a hunch that Vargas is the way to get to El Guapo.

Amalia puts Paula in charge of watching Vargas.

General Lopez gets a call from Mexico, one Sr. Aparicio, who rattles off a long name of what Mexican organization he works for. [But without Spanish subtitles, I’m lost.] [Also, is this the guy who’s dating Pedraza’s ex? Not sure.] Aparicio says he wants Vargas’ help in some kind of anti-drug group. [Ha!...fox…henhouse] GL says he’ll get back to him.

GL tries to reach Amalia, but she doesn’t pick up all day.

Paula and Rojas stake out…somewhere. I thought they were supposed to be watching Vargas. Anyway they’re at some nice house. They see a young cop (or soldier) go inside. [This looks like one of the young guys who were calling the narcos each time our team got close.]

Copete shows up, I think, in Mexico, handcuffed, to speak with one Don Horacio. He wants a job, but DH thinks he’s a rat. He eventually convinces DH to let him work for him.

The USB they got from the Governor has a virus on it that erases everything.

GL tells Vargas about the call from Mexico. Vargas says that someone has recognized his good work. [novelera throws up in her mouth].

Pedraza is trying to get Amalia in the sack, but she pleads the divorce, complicated, etc. But we see them duck into perhaps a janitor’s closet.

Inside the nice house, Paula and Rojas still outside, we see some really disgusting guy coming on to handsome soldier/cop and having him strip for him.

GL comes to find Amalia at home and finds Jorge. When Jorge snarks about Amalia and Pedraza, GL gets in his face, reminding him about how his fling with a prostitute put everyone in danger. And GL tells him to never say anything to him about Amalia.

pacifico – parte 2

GL is back at HQ and finds Amalia and Ped coming from that storage room. Embarrassing. When GL tells them about the call from Aparicio, Ped says that guy is a jackass. The three agree that it’s a good plan to send Vargas (to lead them to El Guapo)

I’m not sure what happens with disgusting guy and young soldier/cop, but we see disgusting guy with a plastic bag over his face. [Is this a new sex turn-on?] Later we discover that some “officials” take this guy away and the news says he died at home of a heart attack. He’s a judge. Not sure if he was supposed to die or what role his being a judge has to do with the plot.

Aparicio orders Ped back to Mexico. He tries to call Amalia, but she’s in a child custody conference. There’s a truly disgusting scene where Jorge presents himself as Father of the Year and Amalia as a bad mom. He has a video of, I think, the older, screwed up kid saying he doesn’t want to live with his mother. She loses even the right to see them.

Pedraza tells Amalia he’ll quit everything in Mexico to be with her, but there’s too much novela left for things to work out for them yet.

Vargas arrives in Mexico to sit down with Aparicio. He reveals himself to be an idiot right away, mentioning El Guapo in a Mexican official’s office.

Amalia moves out. Jorge doesn’t even let her say goodbye.

Amalia goes to stay at, she thinks, Mariana's empty apartment. But Mariana has sent Wilson for some drugs and Amalia finds them there. Amalia gets the best of Wilson and eventually he leaves. Amalia tells her sister what happened with the custody case, and they embrace.

"PACIFICO":

Novelera: Big question is does Amalia know about some of her colleagues in law enforcement, who are dirty & conniving with drug-lords ?

PACIFICO
novelera--You delivered a very orderly recap. Janitor/storage closet? There were interrogation rooms available (we saw some), so my money is on a room like that. At least it had chairs and a desk. However, there's no denying, there were no suspects being interrogated and they emerged rearranging their clothing to find GL there. Absolutely embarrassing.

GL had a little tete a tete with Amalia, where she breaks down emotionally, very much out of character for a hardened secret op soldier. But then GL gives her a little TLC talk and an embrace, also out of character for a high ranking military man. This looked much more like uncle/niece or father/daughter. I'm so glad he's supporting her against Jorge.

GL reminded Jorge during his visit looking for Amalia, that it was Jorge that put all those dangerous sequence of events into play, which Jorge had described to the hearing officer during the Ortega vs. Ortega hearing. It was his visit to a compromised prostitute, etc., etc.

I was confused, too, by the perv/stripper scene until later when the Home Team read about the judge's death at home and they knew he'd been removed from his house by military or police officials in a couple of vehicles. So you got it. Maybe the judge, perv though he might be, was going to get or had gotten some of the narco-traffickers.

You are 99% correct about Aparicio. I don't remember if Pedraza is already suspicious of him.

It was so sad to see Ped at the airport calling Amalia and having to leave a message when she was 50 feet away from him, watching him and then listening to his goodbye. Of course, we know this isn't the end of them. I bet GL will have something to do with sending Amalia to Mexico to "assist" in something.

Pacifico, Wednesday

wonderful recap novelera!
great comments Anita!

what happened to Spotify, there were shows last night.

Aparicio's title was "deputy general director of technical operations for the attorney general's office".

yep, Ped's boss Aparicio was dating his ex and I think she was the hot girl working in his office.

interesting virus thingy, that they used in LRDS2 as well, in order to break the encryption you have to connect to an internet site and if done wrong loads this delete bug, I think they got all the Copete USB data, maybe this was phone or something.

this young military guy I think Paula turned him up earlier and they even questioned him and was their target on the stakeout, they are keeping us guessing but we can see there is a large military/police conspiracy.

that was Ped's room at the office where he was staying after he was jumped at his hotel room, once a freezer.

I think it was methadone (used for heroin withdrawal) Wilson got for Mari, not sure why she is hooked, she was clean for 2 years then did the OD thingy, but then I wish she would take her drama elsewhere, Wilson pleading that he really is a good guy rings true next to her.

ah now for the heartbreak, Amalia told the General she erased all the evidence against Jorge, "for the kids".

La dona 2. Juanita: I think that pervert Lucho killed was Romelia's biggest snuff film customer and the one she thought was threatening her nieces. Also, it seems as if a scene explaining that might have been eliminated.

pacifico

deb, I'm confused. I looked at my DirecTV guide and it did not show either novela. Are you saying I'm an episode behind?

Pacifico

novelera- dunno, I get the west coast feed over-the-air and I noticed the shows were on last night instead of Spotify, (didn't watch) and today if you go to Telemundo.com the most recent show is 18, shown on jueves.

you are right on schedule for us day-behind people.

PACIFICO
No, novelera, you did fine. More than fine.
You recapped Wednesday's episode. No show on Thursday. Back on for Friday. I recap Me Declaro Culpable on Fridays, so I can't post anything until Saturday or Sunday. If one of you wants to cover it, take it away.

PACIFICO
deb--Just saw your comment. That's just not fair. We were told and SAW Spotify announcements on Thursday. Well, we'll have to see what is on tonight.

deb--thanks for clarifying the former freezer bit. I did hear the word refrigeradora or congeladora or something like that when they were fooling around beforehand. But I could have sworn that room had sliding doors right into the Mission Control room and when they emerged, it was a single door with a glass window into a hallway. Oh well, it doesn't matter. GL knew what they'd been up to, but if it was the place where he'd been sleeping, it makes more sense--more comfortable than a desk/table.

...and, I didn't catch this, "ah now for the heartbreak, Amalia told the General she erased all the evidence against Jorge, "for the kids". I'm not sure any more what evidence she had against him, he seems to have more against her.

Pacifico

Anita- Amalia had Jorge's phone from the first shows with all of his contacts with multiple prostitutes including the last one that set him up, Amalia erased it all!

last night's show starts with Wilson swinging by doper Mari's, looking for his red contact notebook that he dropped when Amalia threw him out.

PACIFICO
Aha, that 1st episode is the one I missed before burrowing in. I saw the red notebook fall while Amalia was wrestling Wilson down. We didn't see anyone pick it up. I wonder who it will be.

pacifico

In my messed up notes I took last night while reviewing the episode I'd already seen Wed night, I was sure I'd put in the part about the General assuring Amalia she'd have evidence about Jorge's prosti habit and her saying she'd deleted it all (borré) from his phone for the sake of the children - the ones she can't even see any more. But it's not there, so...

I'll see if I can watch Thursday's show on the Telemundo site. I HATE doing that because you're forced to sit through the commercials, the ones I skip when I record on my DVR.

PACIFICO
Novelera—I just checked my Comcast guide and it shows #18 being shown tonight. You might try to record it anyway, before you have to go to the Telemundo website.

pacifico

Thanks, Anita. I'll try that.

Pacifico

Cynthia Alesco (Lupe) is the wife of Mark Tacher (Pedraza).

"PACIFICO":

Deb: Where have I've seen Cynthia Alesco before ?

LA DONA2 CAP#40

OMG DANNY BOY-POOR JUDGEMENT .. your relationship with Sister Regina is hanging on a string -as -it -is!...!!OMG!!! ELLIEMAE /ELEANOR...just stabbed Isabel..!!

.BADMOVE DANNY....Okay..... and why the heck didn't Daniel take that doped -up- TO-THE-GILLS-girl to the hospital... now it looks like he killed her?????????

Okay.... the toad gnome alfonsa and paidda are going to kill Navareette and AG, when they decided to playing bounce and bounce out of bed!!

okay....lucho is loosing it... that broadcast put him on blast. and thoses people at his job were giving him the sideeye….

La Dona 2. Yep, Halimacandy. They've got to be kidding! Eleanor has murdered Isabela! And the episode was set up in a very contrived way. Naturally Isabela didn't want Dani to call her mother or a doctor while he left to get her dizziness medication--the viewer could see the anvil about to drop! I wonder though if despite what the paramedic said about no pulse, if in Novelaland she can be resuscitated anyway. And we also learned that Jose Luis would be willing to have Noelia and her mother killed if need be. The whole family is awful! I wonder if Noelia will survive. Her mother did give a good psa about all the murdered and missing women in Mexico now.

La dona 2. Also, now that Lucho has been outed, I'm surprised that the relatives and friends of his victims aren't demonstrating outside his house or the construction company to see that he gets his just desserts. At the very least, he deserves to be as scared as his victims were.

La dona 2. Evidently Telemundo did show their telenovelas instead of the Spotify awards on Thursday. And I thought I must have dozed off when Eleanora revealed to Isabela that Lucho hated women and was a killer! Nope! I missed that whole episode because I thought it wasn't on. Not upset enough to try to watch it online, though. :)

LA DONA
2-CAP 40/41

SPAN PROF:

YES...I HAVE TO WATCH THE REST... OMG!! I hope she lives... and thanks.. so the family is plotzing.. to cover their aszzes!!

YES.. when does the town show up at the office with TORCHES AND PITCH FOLKS!!

JUANITA:

YES... Ellie-Mae called Isabel and was a fired up on liquor and hot as hell over her getting her DIVORCE NOTICE... she let it slip abt Lucho being Rainman ted bundy…

…..and then Lucho shows up and Isabel hauled aszz when Elliemae.. was having a meltdown … and blah blah… you know the outcome of this domino path- to- hell

danm!!! Danny boy.. no hospital. why didn't he call the nun Regina!!!

pacifico

My DVR recorded last night, but I looked at the list of recordings and it said I'd recorded #19. I never pay the slightest bit of attention to which episode I'm watching. But those of you who do say that Wednesday was #17 and Thursday would have been #18. Sigh.

So I'll try to find time to watch #18 online before watching the recording of #19. Once I'm committed to a show, I'm all in, so I really don't want to watch #19 and guess what happened in the one I haven't seen.

PACIFICO
Novelera—I’m watching what I recorded on Friday right now. My guide still says it’s #18
Does it start out with Amalia and GL talking and she’s telling him she’s going to go to Mexico? He doesn’t give her official permission, but gives her leave to go on her own. Then she calls Pedraza. Hmm. I’d forgotten his name is Gabriel. Let me know if that is what you recorded. If not, Let me put up something on #18 tomorrow, if we can wait. You can do #19 on Monday, then.

PACIFICO #18
Highlights, Friday 3/6/20
Part 1 of 2

Amalia is talking to her General. She wants to go to Mexico to follow up on some leads on El Guapo. She tells him that someone named Espinoza died 15 years ago but is still buying properties. Dead men don’t do that. She thinks it’s a good lead. GL says the Pres. won’t authorize a trip since he cancelled OpPa. So, she asks for time off to go on her own. GL wonders if she wants to go for El Guapo or Pedraza. She says El Guapo (with a hidden smile). She goes, Ped meets her at the airport and takes her to her hotel. He spends the rest of his screen time trying to woo her into bed. She has a hard time keeping her distance since it’s obvious she wants him. They get to work on their lead right away.

Vargas is chilling when he gets a call from Guerrero, El Guapo’s head honcho. They need to verify he is who he says he is and is trustworthy—his word is insufficient. He’s told to meet at a certain location. He does, is hooded, tranquilized and dropped off in the desert. He has only his uniformed self to talk to while he tries to survive. He makes it to a paved roadway and collapses.

Jones and several men are following the shipment from Colombia to Mexico by sea. They watch it being loaded into a truck and follow it to a compound. They wait for it to leave again. Unfortunately, two trucks emerge going in different directions. Jones sends two of the men to follow in their vehicle. He hot wires a conveniently placed jalopy and takes off with the other man.

Back in the barracks in Colombia, Dominguez (the reluctant stripper) doesn’t want to do another one of “those” jobs. His superior orders him to, or else. Domi goes, finds no one there and when he sees police approaching realizes they are out to kill him. He avoids them, escapes, hides out in a hotel room and calls Gaitán. She promises to keep him safe in exchange for information. She takes him to Mission Headquarters where he reluctantly agrees to stay, the alternative was to be letting him loose on his own.

Helena, the D.A. visits the judge’s widow, Lucrezia to tell her what they found out about her hubby. She’s known about his proclivities but now wants it all kept hush-hush. Helena says she can’t, she was merely informing her.

PACIFICO #18
Highlights, Friday 3/6/20
Part 2 of 2

Pedraza calls his ex-gf, Lupe, to get a head start on tracking Espinoza. Aparicio has been watching/listening to the whole exchange. He calls Guerrero right away and tells him Ortega is already in CDMX. Guerrero tells him to get to work finding out why Ortega is there, since OpPa was cancelled.

Ortega and Ped get to look at the original death certificate for Espinoza. Ortega takes a few cell phone pics. Gregorio Espinoza, age 56, died in 2004 of multiple blows/contusions. They question Dr. Azdrubal, who signed it. They tell him there are inconsistencies for the dead man is apparently in Colombia, buying “things” and investing money in properties all over the place. Azdrubal says he doesn’t remember that particular case, but if he signed it, the person was dead. He tells the two they need to talk to the lead investigator. Ortega & Ped look at each other knowingly and say they will.

Vargas, at death’s door from lack of food, water and too much sun, is fortunately picked up. We know it’s El Guapo, going by the name of Emiliano. Vargas does not know who he is and is grateful. Vargas tells him he’s an anthropologist from Colombia. Emi asks him how’s it going. Vargas says, mal, the contacts he had in Mexico swindled him and robbed him of everything. Emi suggests they stop at a police station and report it. Vargas, agitated says, no, no, not the police. Emi pulls a gun and tells him to get out of the vehicle. Emi accuses him of being a narco and cocks his gun. Vargas begs him not to shoot.

PACIFICO
I can't really tell if a whole episode was left out, but I doubt it. Still, I wonder how Amalia, after that last hug with Mariana, she's leaving her with no back ups, when all it takes is another phone call to Wilson to get her more stuff, or Jorge for help. I left out all the Jorge/family stuff because in this episode it didn't advance the story much and it's all pretty much a repeat of everything else they've already said.

pacifico

I tried to watch #18 on Telemundo's web site, but my internet is too slow. I'll try to go to the library tomorrow. I've done that in the past when I missed an episode. What I could see of the episode didn't include what Anita wrote about Friday's episode.

I saw a bit of Amalia asking questions of a male fiscal, not the female one we know. Because it kept buffering and would NOT let me have subtitles, even though I selected them, I could barely grasp what was going on. I think she was asking him about the judge that died.

And there was a scene of Wilson being in Mariana's apartment, looking through the sofa cushions. Again, too choppy to figure out what was going on.

So frustrating.

PACIFICO
Well, novelera, lit seems you have uncovered the missing episode, which I didn’t think was missing. You needn’t go to the library just for that.. We can probably get along without knowing any more.

PACIFICO
Novelera—Curiouser and curiouser...I just checked the schedule for Monday. Comcast is listing episode #19, but the synopsis is what I just recapped from my DVR recorded on Friday, calling it #18.

Pacifico, Friday

Thanks so much, Anita! Wonderful recap!

and what a strange show, Vargas abandoned in the desert by a van load of super heroes, couldn't happen to a nicer guy, I'm surprised El Guapo wanted a face-to-face, must be planning on bringing him into the inner circle.

Ped and Amalia have no leads, except to the bedroom, but I'm sure something will turn up to keep her from her custody hearing.

Aparicio couldn't have any better surveillance of Lupe if she was sitting on his lap. (btw, this actor, Antonio de la Vega, was the patriarch of the family winery in "Sangre de mi tierra")

the fiscal's chat with Lucrezia was enlightening, as she stated a crime was being committed, that young men were being degraded and humiliated, hmm, I don't think the judges death was planned, just covered up, and cadet Dominguez spilled to Paula that the people he was afraid of had killed El Doctor, hmm, Rojas made a big deal about bringing him to their hideout, and not telling Amalia.

now Jones with a mole narco and two weirdo smoking hitmen is on to something, is vodka the drink of choice now?

oh and according to Telemundo this was chapter 19, Thursday show was chapter 18, and it had the behind the scenes shorts at the end like it was supposed to be on Friday, and of course when Telemundo screws up they never tell anyone.

Pacifico, thursday

ok I skimmed through this, maybe novelera can be more accurate after she watches it,

Amalia returns Wilson's contact notebook to Mari, leaves her destiny up to her to make the right decisions.

Jones arrives in Mexico as a Russian arms dealer, uses his contact to track the cocaine shipment from Colombia.

Ped returns to Mexico and is under investigation / suspended ??, and runs into Vargas, also discovers the guy Amalia is looking for has been dead for 15 ?? years.

Paula toys with Rojas as she struggles with her sexual orientation, the doctora will help.

Ped swings by his totally disgusting and unkept apartment, and starts filling up trash bags, mostly with pizza boxes.

doña2

SpanProf, thanks for the info about Telemundo's showing an episode on Thursday, rather than showing the Spotify Awards as they said they would. I was quite puzzled when Friday's episode started with indications that Isabela knew that Lucho was involved in Arcoíris and that Eleonora had apparently spilled the beans. I assumed that Telemundo had simply not shown part or all of an episode in which all this occurred. I was also puzzled later, when we see Sebastian still hanging by his arms in the room with all the loud music and visuals. What happened to the plan for Matamoros to damage the nerves on Sebastian's arms so he will no longer be able to practice surgery? Perhaps the phantom episode supplies the answer to that question, too. Oh well, I'm not really interested enough to see whether my DVR recorded it.

Thanks, SpanProf and Halimacandy, for providing helpful comments about this undeserving novela. SpanProf, I too have a suspicion/hope that in spite of the EMT guy's not finding a pulse on Isabela, she may yet pull through. There hasn't been much Telenovela Magic thus far in this novela--I think we're due for some. I guess we may find out on Monday.

I found it interesting that Braulio wants to kill José Luis because he helps Altagracia, and Manuel wants to kill Altagracia to free Braulio of his obsession with her. Manuel explains that he has plans for Braulio and for Diego, but he needs Braulio to have a clear head--one not obsessed with AG.
Felina gets Manuel to admit that he plans to sell guns to the narcos, who hopefully will kill each other. He tells Felina that she can be part of this operation as well, but first she has to help him kill AG. I'm still not sure where her loyalties lie.

La dona 2. Thanks, Juanita! Why don't they just kill off all this novela's characters at once rather than one by one and very boringly?

pacifico

There was an episode that I saw at the library, #18. Now I've watched #19 and they're mixed up in my brain.

But we saw the animosity between Pedraza and Aparicio. Aparicio tells him there's been a reorganization and he's now his boss. Also, Aparicio asked Vargas to kill Pedraza.
