**La Dona 2 ends this Monday (4/27). Replacing it starting Tuesday will be a comic novela entitled 100 Días Para Enamorarnos (100 Days to Fall in Love). The novela tells the story of two good friends, Costanza and Remedios, who are unhappy in their marriages and decide to separate from their respective husbands after almost  20 years of marriage.  Costanza agrees with her husband's suggestion that they take a 100-day break to see how they feel. Apparently Remedios goes along with the suggestion as well.  Once the 100 days are up, they will have to decide whether or not to continue their marriages.  Featured in this comic novela are Ilse Salas, Mariana Treviño, Erick Elias, and David Chocarro. Alta going to plant a bomb inside Diego. I am not enjoying watching this.

Not revenge girl. Just once again eye for an eye.

I'm sorry but am I supposed to be supporting Alta here. She is just the same as Braulio and if we do get a season 3 she deserves an ending suitable. No happy sunset please.

It seems to me they might bring Lucho back as he was killed off screen. Yet I think its suitable to wrap his story up. I just wanted to see the Diego / Lucho farewell. We never got it and now it seems to me it was probably used by the writers to try and tie up his and Braulio fates. Yet they probably had more chemistry than any of the couples since the show ended.

The writers want next season to focus on Leon Vs JL my son is dead edition most likely. You can tell they brought Braulio back and kinda run out of ideas. He felt more like the spare part towards the end and Diego more of the central character from that relationship.

Next season Alta needs to face revenge / justice herself. She is the badass female but I think its time she got what was coming to her also.

Overall the show lost its way IMO.

Storylines they should have focused on which I enjoyed:

JL / Alta romance
JL Vs Leon
Lucho / Diego romance
Felina / Braulio pairing
Made Cabral / Lucho / Romelia face their comeuppance earlier and left a big build up for Braulio revenge.

Well, thank goodness this POS finally sputtered to an end. I agree with Tom that it seemed to lose its way. Telemundo seems not to know how to quit while they're ahead, as we've seen with El Señor de los Depends. Season 1 of La Doña was focused and exciting. Season 2--yuck! It's hard to imagine that there's enough to salvage for a 3rd season, not to mention a sufficient audience.

Well, at least Noelia and Adolfo weren't killed off and may even find happiness together.

So what was all that nonsense with the wife of Manuel Padilla, who claims she has come to collect a debt from Felina. Huh? For what? And why should anyone care?

I can't remember ever being as happy to see a novela end as I am with this one.

"LA Dona 2":

Good Morning everyone. Here's my thoughts on the Gran Final last night:

1.) Not shocked Altagracia planted a bomb inside Diego. I just knew it wasn't going to end well.

2.) What's up with Braulio taking off his shirt ?

3.) I also like to know what the wife of Manuel Padilla wants from Felina as well.

4.) Noeila & Adolfo are the only ones, who got a happy ending. Let's hope they do NOT return in Season 3.

5.) Leon beat the expletive out of Lucho. Big question is whether Lucho got killed off ?

6.) What's up with Navarrete being an asshole ?

7.) Karen still doing her job in law enforcement.

8.) Regina got rescued & stays alive..... for now!

9.) I'm assuming Daniel is the new Matamoros 🤔 ?

10.) Tom: I'm assuming Romelia got her ass kicked in prison ?

11.) Altagracia blowing up both Braulio & Diego was obvious. I saw it coming. I do understand why she did it: avenging Monica & Matamoros.

12.) Interesting to see if Season 3 will be intriguing in 2021.

La dona 2. Juanita: I too was happy to see Noelia and Adolfo get a happy ending--and a sensible one too, as both seem about to pick up their studies in San Miguel de Allende. Otherwise, Meh! I can't believe Altagracia found a medical professional to plant a bomb in Diego. He was a veterinarian. Would he have done that to an animal? I doubt it. And now we know why the writers had Diego kill Matamoros--so that the viewer wouldn't feel so bad when he was blown up. And Leon seems to have shot Lucho mostly out of despecho (spite), not just for revenge. He seems to be sick and tired of criminals being able to buy their out of punishment and crooked law enforcement--like Vidal--not getting punished, even if he had seemed to be about to. Navarrete was left as a loose end. I suppose he's being set up to be the villain in season 3, which I don't intend to watch. Felina, Alex, and Manuel's wife I expect will move on to the next season of El senor de los cielos. Good riddance to all of them!

"LA Dona 2":

SpanProf: You're thinking Navarrete will be undermining Altagracia in Season 3 ?

I had no idea Diego whacked Matamoros 😕

OT:

SpanProf: Speaking of "ESDLC": assuming Telemundo confirmed there's going to be an 8th Season sometime around Fall of 2020 or 2021, I can see Felina, Alex & Padilla's wife being there. However, does El Capo know Felina is alive ? If so, he'll likely try to kill her again.

La Dona 2
@SpanProf it appears to have work judging from the Twitter comments begging Alta to kill Diego.

I think she is a massive hypocrite and I didn't enjoy watching her murder Diego. I would not mind seeing Lucho come back and kill off Regina as revenge because she does bring it on herself IMO.

Its time she answered for her evils.

Alta is not dumb and I think she knows Diego was being manipulated but used Matamoros death to place the bomb as a justification.

If the writers had any talent they'll turn this back on her as well as JL / etc to show she was no angel and has massively fcked up herself.

"LA Dona 2":

Tom: I do NOT see Regina being among the living in Season 3. Big question is whether she'll flee the country & move to Spain or Canada.

LA DONA 2

THAT'S IT????? AGAIN TELEMUNDO/ NEVER GIVES AN ENDING...!1CLIFF HANGER ..I QUESS..WHA??? WTF!!!!!!!!!!

Doña2

Thank goodness, that’s over—for now at least.

Altagracia has to be one of the most unsympathetic protagonists in novela history. As far as I am concerned, there is no redemption for her. There is no way for her to have an HEA and I think she realizes it. “Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves.”

Tom, who are these people clamoring for Diego’s death? Poor kid had a horrible life and a gruesome end. I would rather he be thrown in jail to realize how he was manipulated and then perhaps seek his own revenge on Lucho and anyone else who done him wrong.

SpanProf, the bomb doc was probably given an offer he couldn’t refuse. Yes, it looks like Felina and Co. are headed to ESDLC.

Sorry to see Matamoros go just when he found love.

We can’t be sure that Lucho is dead, those shots were fired off camera. I think Leon made sure Lucho would never rape another woman when he smashed him with that rock.

Steve, you may be right about Daniel as the new Matamoros. I hoped endgame would be Daniel and Regina together far away from the madness, but at least it seems Noelia and Adolfo will be happy.

Not looking forward to a season 3.

@Anonymous

It was on twitter last night. They were literally cheering on Diego to die over Lucho / Braulio.

I mean I certainly didn't understand it because Diego IMO was a nice person who had the two people he loved completely headfck him to do what both of them wanted. Braulio to be in his business / Lucho to groom into another psychopath.

Lucho is definitely coming back after the shots were off screen. Telemundo robbed the viewers of Diego / Lucho confrontation scene when they'd had the best chemistry on screen than the couples at the end. Shows Telemundo doesn't give an absolute care about LGBT relationships on its shows and uses it to just push a narrative and get characters into certain situations.

I feel Alta deserves to be called out on her shiz and the sanctimonious agenda she drives. The finale proved IMO that she was on the same level as Braulio. Didn't even ask Diego what happened / knew it was Lucho but didn't care / or even blame herself for TWICE letting Lucho be in poor security and able to escape (which he probably will for season 3). The writers need to make Season 3 the last.

Have her take down Lucho / JL / Whoever. Then have the final episodes be Alta herself getting "justice". Would be suitable.

I am just frustrated because I feel like I'm in the minority. This season could have been amazing but they just messed it up big style. Probably because Telemundo always half arses their projects. Should have left Netflix in the driving seat for the show IMO.

100 días para enamorarnos - cap. 1

Well, I'm often very confused by the opening episode of a new novela. I was relieved to find that I had a pretty good overall idea of the main story line and the four principal characters. The novela apparently takes place in Houston, Texas. The first thing we see is an interchange between Plutarco and his wife, Costanza (Connie). Apparently both feel they need to separate (after about 20 years of marriage and two kids). Plutarco hands Connie a draft of a separation agreement. It includes a provision that they wait 100 days to see how things go before they decide whether or not to make the separation permanent.

The scene shifts back in time by a number of hours. Connie, immaculately dressed and coifed, has just returned from a five-day trip and is at the airport. She has been trying to reach Plutarco to find out whether he is going to meet her flight at the airport, but he hasn't responded. She then sees a man holding a dozen or so balloons, waiting for someone. Her face brightens and she heads over to where he is. Oops, it's not Plutarco and he's not waiting for her.

The scene shifts to the novela's other couple. Unlike Connie, Remedios is very casually dressed and a bit disheveled. Her father (I think) tells her that her husband, Max, is asleep in the truck. She goes to the truck and finds Max snoring away. She wakes him up and urges him to clean himself up and wash off a bunch of numbers that for some reason are written on his forehead. Remedios then goes off to the hospital to have a pap smear. The doctor who sees her turns out to be a past love, Emiliano. They're both astonished to see each other. She thought he was living in Argentina. He explains that he has returned and now works at the hospital. He tells her he knows that she is married and has a child. He suggests that after her appointment they go have coffee and catch up. He leaves the room while she gets dressed, and when he returns, she is gone. He asks the nurse to give him Remedios Rivera's complete medical records.

That evening, Plutarco and Connie are hosting a party to celebrate their anniversary. Various friends arrive, including Remedios and Max. Connie and Remedios go off together to the kitchen. Remedios tells Connie that she ran into Emiliano at the hospital. Connie asks her whether she told him that Ale is his daughter. Remedios says no, and that's not going to happen. Max met her when she was pregnant, Ale loves Max, and Remedios doesn't want to complicate matters.

Oops, Emiliano arrives at the party uninvited. Remedios heads for the kitchen. Emiliano follows her, claiming he just wants to help her choose. She looks puzzled. Choose the wine, he explains. He tells her he thinks destiny has brought them back together. She replies that she has changed. The "Chipi" he knew no longer exists. She returns to the party, where she sees Emiliano flirting with Lore, Plutarco's designer. Emiliano tells her he doesn't believe in marriage or fidelity. Lore asks him whether he was ever in love. Once, says Emiliano, some years ago.

Plutarco leaves the room with Lore. Connie follows them and hears Lore talk about a trio. Connie becomes enraged, thinking that the "trio" refers to Plutarco, Lore, and Connie. She confronts Plutarco, just as a trio of mariachi musicians arrives. "I wanted it to be a surprise," Plutarco tells Connie. Lore merely helped him arrange for this. Connie is momentarily embarrassed, but the conversation deteriorates, and when Plutarco calls her a bad joke, she slaps him, knocking off his glasses. She tells him she wants to separate.

There's a bit more, but I'm very tired, so I'll end here.

"LA Dona 2" Gran Final comments:

Dondi356: I wonder if anybody told Daniela & Lopez that Diego got blown up by Altagracia ?

100 dias. So nice to have a novela worth summarizing again, Juanita! Very busy episode. I loved the scenes of downtown Houston, the city where one of my daughters lives. Something that gave this tn a little more depth than I was expecting was when Remedios and Constanza were driving away from the party and Constanza talked about how under all the pressures of building their lww practice and raising children she and Plutarco had drifted apart and no longer had much in common. That rang true to me. (Of course, when my husband and I went through something like that, we tried marriage counseling, which was very effective, but not nearly as cute as these 100 dias are apparently going to be.) I'm certainly willing to give this show a chance.

100 dias. Also, I enjoyed the typical rom com mistake of Costanza thinking Plutarco and Lore were planning a threesome, when in fact, it was a guitar/mariachi trio they were talking about--which then arrived on the scene. Oops!

100 Dias

Thanks for the estreno recap, Juanita. You covered all the important points.

Plutarco is a bit of a jerk.

Lots of English spoken.

I'm in. I needed a change of pace. Hope this holds up. I wonder if they were able to finish filming before the health crisis.

100 dias. One of the things I enjoy about novelas like 100 dias and Betty en NY is the way they switch back and forth between Spanish and English. It reminds me that, a little bit like Canada, we are a bilingual country (though not geographically, in the way Canada is). I thought episode 2 of 100 dias bogged down a little, and that Remedios especially was behaving a bit foolishly, but I'm still willing to give this tn a shot. Where are they going with the "rebellious teenagers" plot line, which seems a bit cliched? Interesting subplot about the husband who has a "casa chica", i.e., 2 families, and is essentially a bigamist. Wonder what will happen when wife #2 moves to Houston?

100 días

SpanProf, I too found episode 2 a bit less compelling than episode 1. I'm not sure why, since a good deal happened, starting with Max's finding out that Emiliano is Remedios' ex-whatever. It's interesting that all the descriptions of this novela mention Erick Elías (Plutarco) and David Chocarro (Emiliano) as the two male leads, but not Max. Whether this signals that Remedios will wind up with Emiliano, or just that Emiliano has a more extensive role (but ultimately perhaps as the person Remedios doesn't choose) I don't know. He's certainly mucho más guapo than Max. And more so than Plutarco as well.

I enjoyed the scene where Connie and Remedios are screaming at each other, apparently oblivious to the rain pouring down on them. Finally, they apologize to each other, just as the car they had been riding in explodes. I'm not sure I understand what caused the car to explode, and expecially in the midst of a torrential downpour. Oh well....

Perhaps the solidarity between Remedios and Connie in the downpour inspires Remedios to call Max a descarado and to announce that their marriage is over. So probably both couples will decide to go along with the 100 days to see what happens.

To complicate things just a bit further, when Plutarco tells Emiliano that he's going to stay at a hotel, Emiliano insists that he should instead come stay at his house.

I've got a ZOOM session in a couple of minutes, so I'll end this now. Though I offered a small recap of episode 1, I have no intention of doing this every day or even every other day. I suspect that, unless several other people step up to do recaps, we may do here what we did with La Doña 2--post comments and respond to comments. That can work pretty well, especially if this novela offers us more to enjoy that the previous one did.
