Again Alta being sidelined. Honestly its like the season writers had run out of source material for her near this end of the Novela except for when she just takes out the villains at the end probably. Her and JL tomorrow though <3

That scene seemed real from Lucho for the first time when he was talking to Diego. Still manipulative and probably confused but it seems to me there was some romance there. It will all go crashing down once Diego comes to his senses. Probably by watching one of those Sicko Rainbow Videos that got retrieved.

Tom, I agree that Altagracia has had less screen time in recent episodes, but that's OK with me. For quite some time, the plot has expanded to include lots of other threads, all connected in one way or another to AG, so it makes sense for those other plots (e.g., the Arcoíris killers; Leon; Felina; Braulio, etc.) to play out. But when I say it's OK with me if we see less of AG, I also mean that I don't find her role as compelling in season 2 as it was in season 1. I think you said something similar in an earlier posting. And I also agree with what you said about Leon not being a credible or exciting partner for her. I'm a Carlos Ponce fan, but his role in this novela doesn't play to his strengths.

Wow, Braulio really savagely beat up Lucho. I detest Lucho, and at first I was actually pleased to see him being hurt, but after a while even I--Lucho hater that I am--found it hard to watch. I was actually surprised that Lucho wasn't killed by the beating Braulio gave him. Of course, I was even more surprised when Braulio decides that not only should Diego come back into the business but Lucho too should become part of it. Felina was the only one thinking clearly about all this. She tries to talk Braulio out of having Lucho involved, pointing out that he's a psychopath. When Braulio rejects her views, she wisely tells him that she no longer wants to be partners with him, and she does an impressive job of bargaining for her share of the company.

The episode's craziness isn't limited to Braulio, Diego, and Lucho. Noelia too seems to have lost her mind, deciding to break into Romelia's place to look for Arcoíris DVDs and other incriminating evidence against Romelia. And the mind-loss disease seems to have afflicted Adolfo as well, since he comes along to help Noelia. I kept expecting Romelia to return home and find them. Perhaps tomorrow. Sigh.

I do have a question about the episode: at one point we see José Luis in bed. Romelia comes into the bedroom ready for action. She jumps on top of JL, at which point the camera moves from focusing on them to focusing on a spot behind the back of the bed. There's a lamp and perhaps some small device. I couldn't really make out what it was, or whether it was nothing at all. But why would the camera move there if there were nothing important. Has JL somehow set up a hidden microphone and/or camera? Anyway, JL does little more than kiss her before he tells her he's tired and wants to sleep. So perhaps there's no microphone or camera. Very strange.

La dona 2. Well, at least JL and AG didn't disrupt the confirmation ceremony itself. If they had, I wouldn't have blamed the other parents there if they had torn those 3 prostitutes limb from limb. It even looks as if the nieces aren't even really kidnapped. They seem to be having a great time with JL at an electronic gaming parlor. Otoh, AG is most definitely torturing Romelia psychologically. Noelia was rather clever in the way she left the arcoiris usb out in Romelia's home where it could be found more easily by the police--and I was happy that Leon finally got that warrant to search the place. Too bad that Noelia shared the evidence with Altagracia. Steve: I think the police will indeed catch Lucho and Romelia (unless they end up dead first), the last 2 remaining arcoiris accomplices.

Tom, I think one of the themes in this novela is the incompetence and/or corruption of the police. So it's no surprise that they haven't solved any crimes. And yes, it's quite possible that Diego may wind up as their one prize. Sigh.

SpanProf, I have a question about the usb device that Leon found so easily in Romelia's place. Did Noelia make a copy of the contents? I ask because I'm under the impression that she gave the usb (or a copy) to Altagracia. I was therefore surprised when Leon found it at Romelia's. Anyway, like you, I'm glad he did, and glad he did with a legal search warrant and in the presence of Karen.

Halimacandy, I doubt that even a brother of an Arcoíris victim could have given Lucho much more of a beating than Braulio's man did. The guy kept slamming Lucho's back against the floor. I expected that Lucho might finally die. But no. Not only didn't he die, or at least wind up with a broken back, he comes away from the fight without even an obvious twinge in his back. I'm beginning to think that if he were shot in the mouth, he'd simply spit the bullet out. :-)

With just one week to go, I have no idea how this novela will end. In part, I suppose, it depends on whether Telemundo intends to drag it on into a season 3. Yuck! If they do, I'll be sure to avoid it.

Karen and Leon (except where Altagracia is concerned) seem to be the exceptions to the police incompetence--but if Lucho is arrested rather than killed, he may get off because of judicial corruption. I too wouldn't be surprised if he tried to pin everything on Diego--and if there is a season 3, even if there are some unresolved plot strands, I won't watch it either. Maybe by then Univision will be over its infatuation with Middle Eastern novelas.

I've been mulling over the last week of episodes. I tried googling but could find nothing regarding a possible theory. There were supposed to be 60 episodes. I liked the novela a lot. For a novela dealing with narcotrafficking there was actually a minimum of time spent watching the actual narcos.

My theory is that the episodes were still being filmed when social distancing became the norm. They decided to finish Season 1 by condensing what they "had in the can". At the end they indicated there would be a second season.

It was frustrating that the baddies were not brought to justice. But maybe they were always going to have Amalia continue to chase El Guapo into a second season. The one I really wanted to see brought to justice was Vargas, but no.

My theory lets Telemundo off the hook for not showing us the expected 60 episodes and giving us, instead, warmed over Reina del Sur.

novelera, I'm thinking OP was a wrap, 60, Telemundo is losing in the ratings in all time slots, OP is worst, and May is a "sweeps" month, not holding my breath on a second season.

I guess the original plan was another season since this is a super series. Your theory sounds good, novelera. But if ratings were as bad as deb mentioned (lol, your comments), who knows. Preso No. 1 was a super series too, remember what happened to that one?

I only half watched this. I enjoyed Pedraza and Jones and the buddy aspect of the show, fighting narcos and wooing women. The Amalia – Pedraza romance did little for me. I just couldn’t get behind the two refugees from Sin Seños: Amalia, who was Diabla playing Catagrande (thanks for bringing it up Halimacandy), and the Dani redux, Mariana. Vargas is a great villain so keeping him around for a second season isn’t bad--makes his comeuppance that much better.

What’s going to happen if/when Telemundo runs out of new material? Repeats? Maybe we will get more “foreign” imports, Turkish, Brazilian?
