I'll put up something about this novela later tonight.

100 dias

end of season, 20 July, oh, Cennet needs a time slot.

100 días - el lunes - p. 1 de 2

OK, I said I'd put something up, but I have to confess, I am quite confused about parts of this episode.

My confusion began as soon as the episode started. Plutarco refers to Emiliano as "super doc." I'm not sure why. Also, several characters refer to a retiro, which I thought was a retirement, but no one has retired. Apparently it also can mean retreat, but I don't recall a retreat either. Arrgh--3 days without an episode, and it feels as if I've missed 3 weeks.

Dani apologizes to Mariana for not taking her seriously when she said she was afraid. She tells him she doesn't want to go to class, she just wants to stay with him. He says he'd like that, but if she fails her classes because of him, he'd feel terrible. She goes off to class.

Connie and Plutarco are getting along very well. Perhaps that influences them to try to talk clients who have been married for 10 years and have two children out of getting a divorce.

Aurora calls Luis. She tells him the migra came looking for her. She asks Luis how much longer she's going to have to be illegal. She demands that he take care of this immediately. After the phone call ends, Luis searches on the Internet for "marriage of convenience in Houston." He then berates himself: "Luis, are you serious that you are going to look for a husband for your woman so that she can be here legally?"

Fernando and Isabel are getting along well. They start to dance, and Frida joins them. The doorbell rings, Frida goes to see who it is. In comes Pablo, bringing flowers. Isabel and Fernando stop dancing; both look embarrassed. Pablo says he brought the flowers for Isabel because she wasn't feeling well, but...it's clear he senses the chemistry between Fer and Isa. He quickly hands Fer the flowers and leaves.

Alex comes to see Emiliano. Alex is upset because he attended a college fair at his school, found a school that interested him, and filled out a form, including his name. But when the school representatives saw his name and then his identification, they wouldn't give him information about the school. Emiliano urges him to be patient and praises him, calling him "hijo." Alex's face lights up when Emiliano says this. He tells Emiliano that this is the first time he's called him "hijo." Emiliano assures him it won't be the last.

Aurora tells Jimena about the migra coming after her. "If it weren't for Remedios (whom she refers to as Milagros), I'd be crossing the border in tears." [What did Reme do to help Aurora??] Aurora's phone rings; she doesn't answer it. Then Jimena's phone rings; she too doesn't answer. They both are aware that Luis is calling. At one point, Jimena admits to Aurora that she and Luis were at a retiro nudista and.... Aurora screams "You betrayed me!" Somehow, they quickly become united again.

Pablo and Carlos meet for a drink. Carlos is clearly interested in a relationship, but Pablo tells him that Fernando was his novio until half an hour ago, and he's not ready to move on.

Emiliano answers a knock at his door. A smiling woman greets him with "Remember me?" He remembers that she's Mariana's mother, which is more than I remember. When did the two of them meet before? Indeed, when did we see Mariana's mother? She presents him with a small bar of quartz to thank him for what he has done for her daughter. [A bit later, she says that he saved her daughter. Huh??] It's clear that Mariana's mother has the hots for Emiliano. She tells him, "I'm a free woman. When the universe calls, I go." Somehow he manages not to sleep with her.

100 días - el lunes - p. 2 de 2

Connie, too, seems eager to have sex with Plutarco. She jumps him in the office, and they start to go at it. Suddenly, Connie remember their contract. There are still 45 days left. They talk about this for a few seconds, and then Connie agrees, as long as Plutarco will tell NO ONE, including Emiliano. He agrees. That, of course, is the cue for the phone to ring. It's Ivan. Oops.

Emiliano tells Plutarco about Mariana's mother. Emiliano senses that Plutarco, too, has something to tell him. Plutarco first denies this and then admits that there's something, but he can't tell him.

Reme tells Connie that she looks great. "You're glowing," she tells her. "Good old vitamin P." When Connie looks puzzled, Reme explains P for Plutarco.

Reme tells Ramiro that she feels bad about Max and the producer in Miami.

The other two guys from the band are very excited. When Max seems not to know what they're talking about, they explain that Reme talked to the producer. Max is furious. He goes to the cafe and confronts Reme. Max tells her she had no right to meddle in his affairs; she replies that the producer had offered him what he's been dreaming about all his life. Finally, she admits that she wrong.

Ivan and Connie talk briefly about the court case they're both involved in. He then asks whether she'd like to go for coffee. After all, they're old friends. She replies, "We're not old friends and you know it." She walks away.

Lucia is watching from the stands as the football team practices. Alex then comes up to her, kisses her, says he's going to clean up and come back. Shortly after he leaves, Benjamin approaches Lucia. They talk. She's uncertain how she feels about Alex, and uncertain too about who she is. Benjamin then says, "I know what you need," and he kisses her. Of course, Alex sees them. End of episode.

Apparently, this is the novela's semana final!!! It's not clear what's going to replace it. There was an announcement that on July 21, Cennet will move to the 9 PM time slot. Weird!

100 dias

Thanks for being brave enough to take on this recap, Juanita. You did a fine job with it. This episode made little sense. More holes than swiss cheese.

Business retreat at a nudist colony seems wildly inappropriate. How did Luis manage to sneak along?

Mariana’s mom: “Remember me?” Me: “No!” She must have appeared during the missing stalker attack scenes. I think Isa and Fer were talking about her. They mentioned that she hasn’t been the best mom to Mariana.

I noticed semana final on Thursday’s show. Yes, deb, unfortunately I noticed a reference to final de temporada last night. Are they really going to give us another season?

I guess Exatlon is expanding to 2 hours and Cennet is moving to the 100 Dias slot. Maybe this is pandemic related. Perhaps they haven’t been able to film enough to start a new show?

I have been watching Cennet. It’s so over the top trope-y and soapy to the point of self-parody. I watch and laugh.

dondi356

100 dias. Yep, Juanita, it was brave of you to recap this chopped up episode and very well done. We seem to have lost a lot of scenes due to the pandemic. If there's going to be a second season of this tn, maybe they should have ended this one 2 weeks ago. I too wonder: Was Emiliano the hero who saved Dani and Mariana from Roberto the Stalker? It would seem so. And if so, what happemed to Roberto? Is he in jail or still out there? How did Reme defend Aurora from ICE? What was the scene between her and the producer like? I got that the retiro was supposed to be a professional retreat, set up by Pablo, but my goodness, a nudist colony? Does Texas even have such things? The summaries, discussions of all those things by the characters in the tn just don't fill in a lot of the gaps.

100 días

¡Muchísimas gracias! dondi356 and SpanProf, for your helpful and reassuring comments. I again assumed that the fault was all mine for either not understanding or not remembering. Often that assumption is justified, but I'm relieved to find that this time it mostly was not. And yes, dondi, I do remember your saying last Thursday that you saw "semana final" announced, but I missed it then. I do wonder what's going to happen on Monday, July 20, since on the one hand they say this is the final week and on the other Cennet isn't moving to 9 pm until the 21st. If Cennet is going to have a second season, perhaps Monday will be devoted to giving people who haven't been watching a brief summary of season 1? I've only seen the last few minutes of the episodes while waiting for 100 días to start, but I think your description of "trope-y and soapy" fits the little I've seen. Then again, because Cennet was undoubtedly filmed before the pandemic, it may be all that's available for Telemundo. It drives me crazy to hear words that don't match the actors' mouths, but I confess that I do appreciate one thing: the vocabulary is much more limited and non-slangy than what we have on 100 días (and lots of other novelas as well). I love listening to it because I can often understand what people are saying, as long as I don't watch them as they speak.

SpanProf, I'm not sure, but I think the mention of "temporada" referred to Cennet rather than to 100 días. If I'm wrong, and 100 días will have a 2nd season, I think I'll sit that one out. I really don't care what happens to any of the characters, and I can't really handle the speed and slang. BTW, I like your suggestion that Emiliano saved Dani and Mariana from Roberto. That would explain both "super doc" and Mariana's mother's remarks. And yes, now that you mention it, I do vaaguely recall that Pablo was supposed to set up a professional retreat. But was that the retiro nudista that Jimena mentioned to Aurora??

100 días

Thanks so much, Juanita, for taking one for the team!

I get grumpy about all the pandemic things (my hair is ghastly) and a chopped-up novela is one of those things. But then I figuratively slap myself in the face for griping about telenovelas when others have lost loved ones.

Yes, I also read between the lines that Emiliano somehow saved Dani, and maybe Mariana, from Roberto.

I also have a hunch that scenes of Aurora working at the diner were cut. I remember her complaining about boredom. And she also was very upset about the missing money at the diner (another thing that apparently wasn't really recorded) so I think she was working there in some capacity and thought she'd be accused of taking the money. And then Remedios likely saved her from being grabbed up by ICE. That's my theory and I'm sticking to it!

I'm sure that the 2nd temporada referred to 100 días. I suspect that, with no pandemic, they might have wrapped it up in one season. But there isn't anything right now to replace it. So maybe they'll somehow film the missing scenes and add some more. They've already introduced new possible love interests for Emiliano and Connie, so they could have another breakup between the main twosomes. Surely Ivan will be back, as well as Mariana's mother.

I recognized the actor playing Mariana's mother (did they ever say her name?) and googled novelas I thought I'd seen her in. I'm pretty sure she's Karla Monroig. The one I remembered her from was Alguien te Mira.

100 días

I'll do a recap, probably brief.

I'm sorry to see 100 días go away. It's not my favorite type of novela, but the actors are mostly good, and at least it's something to watch in Spanish.

Other than Operación Pacífico, I haven't liked any of the recent 10:00 PM offerings on Telemundo. So there isn't really anything for me to watch in Spanish at all.

Maybe I'll see if I can catch up on one of the Univisión novelas next week. Looks like there's plenty of recaps there.

Can anyone recommend a current, not too far along, Uni novela?

100 días

Carlos is at the diner explaining the internet fundraising page he’s setting up to Pablo and Remedios. Max butts in accusing Carlos of an ulterior motive. Reme tells him that owning part of this diner is her dream and that he needs to not interfere. She restrains herself, IIRC, from reminding him how pissed he was when SHE interfered.

Emiliano is trying to catch a short cat nap before a Caesarian to deliver a baby when Luis turns on the light and starts yammering on about his problems. A guy shows up to serve him with divorce papers from Jimena. [Any chance Luis will get hit by a bus before the segunda temporada.]

Jimena decides to do a “casting” for possible gringo husbands for Aurora so she can fix her immigration status. We see a string of no-hopers, including, Ye Gods, the guru!

Isabel comes to apologize to Pablo for having messed up his and Fernando’s relationship. She thinks of him as a dear friend. She doesn’t know if she truly still loves Fer or is just used to having him around.

Alex is in a bad mood because of having seen Lucía kiss Benjamín, but she doesn’t tell Ramiro why.

We get a long, boring scene of the guru telling Jimena a bunch of new age crap that really means he wants to bed her. [There’s no accounting for tastes.]

Reme and Connie are drinking tequila together at a bar. Reme tells Connie that she’ll probably always wonder how her life would have gone if she’d married Iván.

Lucía and Alex meet at the diner. Lucía says for the tenth time that she’s confused. Alex tells her what she really thinks. That Lucía lives her life trying to be what others want: la porrista (cheerleader), the girlfriend of the mariscal de campo (quarterback), the perfect student, the perfect daughter. Alex doesn’t think she wants to be with someone like that. Alex breaks it off.

Carlos comes to see Pablo about the internet page and comes on to him. Pablo again is not ready.

Max tells Reme he’s decided to go to Miami for the chance to be a recording artist. And he thinks they should get the divorce. Reme cries, but they agree.

Mariana’s mother (what the heck is her name, anyway?) sneaks up on Max by not letting him see her through the peephole in the door. She’s all over him when he opens the door; and, of course, he succumbs.

Alex has come to see Emi to say she wants to change her birth certificate and that she wants to take Emi’s last name. Thank God Mariana’s mother doesn’t come into the room.

Connie and Plu spend the night together. We get a funny scene the next morning when she objects to his morning breath, and he blows it in her face. Dani sees his father in the hallway and just smirks at Plu’s excuse for why he’s there. The night before they talk about Roberto’s court date being the next day. So maybe Roberto is in custody?

Reme comes to talk to Emi, but Mariana's mother opens the door. Gah!

100 días

Thanks VERY much, novelera, for this fine recap. Needless to say, I found it very helpful, and I especially appreciated your including those Spanish words, which I had written down last night, intending to look them up.

It's hard for me to understand how Plutarco and Emiliano even tolerate Luis, let alone consider him something of a friend. His behavior with Emiliano, who was trying to take a nap before performing a Caesarian delivery, was...[printable words fail me].

Speaking of Emiliano, you accidentally wrote that Mariana's mother sneaks up on Max, rather than Emiliano. I know you meant Emiliano, but I had a good laugh trying to picture Mariana's mother coming on to Max. :-)

The scene with Reme and Connie at the bar made me aware, once again, of how much alcohol these characters seem to have each day. They often spend time separately with more than one of their friends/associates drinking. How they get any work done is a mystery to me.

100 dias. Excellent recap, novelera! Luis is just incredibly selfish! I believe Mariana's mother's name is Dulce (any irony there? nah.) I wonder if Carlos is up to no good with that fundraising scheme. And now we finally know that Roberto was arrested, but he's been released on bail? Oh oh! I looked in at the new Medicos telenovela on Univision during the commercials (because--Daniel Arenas!). It seemed a bit melodramatic but watchable. A sort of Mexican Gray's Anatomy?

100 días

Sorry, all. I must have been in a coma when I wrote that Tuesday night recap. Upon re-reading it this morning I realized that I had referred, over and over, to Alex as she. This was completely unintentional and I am completely in favor of his decision to be openly transgender.

100 días

I will put up something about tonight's episode later tonight.

100 días - miércoles - p. 1 de 2

Luis comes upon Connie and Ivan. Ivan assures Connie that all will be well with the case they were discussing, and he leaves. Luis can't suppress a smirk as he says "You work very often with your ex." Connie replies that Luis is the very last person entitled to ask her for explanations.

Isa and Fer meet with Emiliano. Apparently, Emiliano has told her that she'll need to have a mastectomy to get rid of the cancer. Isa is upset, feeling that that will take away her femininity. Fer tries to assure her that she'll still be beautiful, and that what's most important is getting rid of the cancer. He urges her to have the operation for Frida, adding "and I need you, too."

Pablo explains Carlos' plan for the diner to his parents, and he assures them that José Miguel has no part in this. This reassures his father, who says that they are now willing to help him with the finances.

Aurora tells Luis she's fed up living in fear of being deported. She wants him to marry her for her sake and the sake of their son. She also says that she could move, that Nico is very bright and could do well anywhere. Luis gets nervous and pleads with her not to take his son from him.

During practice on the football field, Alex kicks the football and quite intentionally hits Benjamin in the back. Benjamin is furious and goes after Alex. The coach breaks them up and tells Benjamin it was an accident and they should all get back to practice.

Connie and Reme talk. Reme is crying. She says she knows that Max needs to go to Miami in order to grow and to be happy. But divorce.... Connie assures her that she'll be OK, that things will work out well.

Max has apparently invited everyone to come hear him make an announcement. So Reme, Alex, Ramiro, Connie, Jimena, Plutarco, Emiliano and Max assemble at Reme's house. Max talks about life giving us second chances. He says that Emiliano realizes that you have to care for what you love and want, because if you don't, someone will suddenly come along and take it from you. [Max seems to be speaking both about Emiliano and about himself.] He then says that he learned from his son that you have to be courageous. He goes on for quite a while, causing Jimena to think he sounds like someone who's about to die. Finally, Max says he asked them to come so he could tell them he's going to live in Miami.

Reme is in the kitchen when Emiliano comes in. She tells him that she went to his house to talk with him about Alex's decision to take Emiliano's surname, but Emiliano wasn't there. Someone named Dulce opened the door. Emiliano starts to explain that Dulce is Mariana's mother, but Reme tells him, "I don't need any explanations, I'm fine." Emiliano asks how she feels about Max's decision. She tells him, "I feel as if they've torn away a piece of my life, and I didn't see it coming."

Alex and Ramiro leave the gathering. Suddenly the guru arrives, and they all greet him warmly. Duh. "Have I interrupted something?" he asks. He says he senses a bad vibe. He then tells them that he also does group therapy, and proposes they play a game of honesty. [Now there's trouble!] Plutarco and Jimena exchange insults. Yada yada yada.

Carlos comes to see Pablo, bringing with him a bottle of tequila. They seem to get on well. Carlos claims that they have much in common. "We both prefer asking forgiveness rather than permission." And he moves in for the kiss.

100 días - miércoles - p. 2 de 2

Mariana feels guilty about what happened to Dani. Dani tries to assure her that she wasn't at all to blame. She doesn't listen. "If anything happened to you, I'd die," she tells him, and she rushes out the door.

Emiliano tells Max that he feels guilty that Max is leaving. Max says he's leaving because he too wants to follow his dream. He asks Emiliano to care for Reme and Alex.

Dulce calls Emiliano while he's still with some of the others. He tells her that things didn't work out with Reme. Then he realizes that the others have overheard him say this. Max angrily says, "I ask you to take care of Reme, and what's the first thing you do?"

At home that night, Connie and Plutarco kiss. Martín sees them and is ecstatic. They tell him it was just a kiss of friends. Martín leaves, dejected.

There's a scene involving Emiliano and Dulce at his house. What can I say? Dulce makes Gloria seem the epitome of restraint. FF>>

Plutarco wants to stop the 100 days business. He love Connie, and they're getting along really well. Connie admits that their chemistry has improved, but she feels they still have the same problems as before. Plutarco asks whether she feels this way because of Ivan. Connie says no.

Max tells Reme that she still has Alex, her father, and Connie. "And you still feel something for Emiliano. This is also an opportunity for you. With Emiliano." Max then hands her the divorce papers. "Great timing," says Reme. Max tells her again that he loves her, that she's the love of his life. They hug. Then Reme goes off to read through the divorce papers.

Pablo and Carlos seem to be getting on quite well the next morning. Apparently no one had to ask for forgiveness.

Isa stands in front of a full-length mirror imagining what it will be like after the surgery. Fer assures her she'll still be beautiful. "Pinche cancer," she says. "Pinche cancer," Fer agrees. [In case you're wondering, the Spanish captions said "------ cancer"]

Jimena and the guru try to sneak quietly down the stairs in the morning, but Susi sees them. She tells them they needn't give her any explanations. She understands. It's normal. He's a doctor of emergency therapy. "Exactly!" agree Jimena and the guru. But then Luis comes in. "What are you doing with my mujer?" he asks. Jimena tells him that she is "una mujer libre."

Luis then goes to see Emiliano to complain about Jimena and the guru. Luis catches sight of Dulce. She introduces herself. Luis and Emiliano leave.

Emiliano tells a patient that when the test results come in, Pilar will let her know. The woman leaves. Pilar then asks Emiliano about "your friend Luis." Emiliano says, "I like you, I like you a lot. Please don't fall into Luis's hands. Don't do that to yourself." Pilar apparently tells him it doesn't matter, because Luis doesn't even notice her (ni me pela).

A minute later, Reme bursts into Emiliano's office and greets him by saying "Did you put $10,000 into my página? Emiliano claims he doesn't know what she's talking about [and neither do I--what's a página?]. Reme asks him again, and then adds "You've made your life with what's her name, um, Dulce." Emiliano asks her to forget Dulce and the phone call. He starts to say more, but Reme says she doesn't care about the call, she simply wants to know whether he put $10,000 into her página. He doesn't answer, and the episode ends without my knowing what the heck a página is, other than a page or a web page.

100 dias. Excellent recap, juanita! pagina is a facebook page; it just means page. And I wonder, who did give her$10,ooo? Pablo for part of her contribution to the diner? Since when is Benjamin back on the fotball team? I thought he had left in a huff. I thought Connie and Plu were a little mean to Martin, IMHO. Dulce seems a bit like the guru.:) Maybe they should get together.

100 días

Thanks so much for the fine, detailed recap, Juanita.

Well, the holes in the story continue. They mentioned a court case for Roberto, that day IIRC, but it apparently was never filmed.

I believe Aurora told Cad Luis that, if he didn't marry her, she'd return to Monterrey. I wonder if the writers have decided Luis and Jimena's divorce is final, even though all we saw was his being served at Emiliano's clinic.

Why in the world was Jimena at Max's announcement party? And why is she so hostile to Plutarco? Also, they originally said that Max would be in Miami 6 months and now they seem to be saying forever. Maybe the actor has another role?

Mariana told Dani that she was breaking up with him (for his own good, we assume). I'm wondering if we'll see a scene with Roberto threatening her. He's supposedly out on bail.

When Pilar said ni me pela she was referring to Emiliano. After he warned her about Luis she said something to the effect that Luis wasn't even on her radar and the one she was interested in didn't even give her a second glance. [My translation of ni me pela.]

100 días

Thanks, SpanProf. I think Benjamin thought better of his angry outburst about quitting if Alex is on the team. Also, he claimed to Lucia that he was trying to change.

I am still somewhat confused about "pagina." How can someone deposit money on/in/to a Facebook page?? Especially a large amount like $10,000?
I knew that "pagina" meant page, but I kept thinking that perhaps there was a slang usage meaning "account," but the few places I looked didn't support that.

100 días

Thanks, novelera, for your pointing to all the novela's loose ends, and special thanks for your remark about "ni me pela." I too wondered why Jimena was at Max's announcement gathering, and whether he was going for 6 months or forever. As for the friction between Jimena and Plutarco, I think she resents his not having told her that Luis has a second family. As for Plutarco's annoyance with Jimena, how could anyone not be annoyed with her?

I am pretty sure you're right about Pilar's remark. I didn't fully understand the earlier part of what she said, but since she had asked Emiliano about Luis and Emi had warned her not to get involved with Luis, I assumed she was telling Emi not to worry because Luis doesn't even notice her. Had I understood the first part of her sentence, I would have realized who it was that didn't notice her/give her a second glance.

100 días

SpanProf, I posted my message to you too quickly. I meant to add that I loved your suggestion that perhaps Dulce and the guru should get together!
