DAYTIME TNs…y Mas!: Week of Aug. 17, 2020

Good Day, Caraymates!

Welcome to Daytime TNs! This page is being provided to give those who are watching daytime TNs on any channel a place to discuss any of the TNs aired prior to 6PM.  If you would like to contribute a recap or just some highlights for a daytime TN, I’m sure there are those who watch the same TNs that would appreciate it.

This page can also be used as a forum to keep in touch, discuss strolls down the Caray! Caray! memory lane, or anything else that is of interest to the patio.

Please remember that ANY daytime novela can be discussed and everyone is welcome to join in the conversation. Friendly reminder to PLEASE put the name of the telenovela you're referring to at the top of your post so readers can easily find the conversations they're looking for. (You can shorten the title to one word, i.e., “Vecina”; “Amores”)

"Daytime TNs" will be posted on Mondays only. There will be a different page posted on Thursdays with a variety of topics for week-end discussion.

LQNPA

After seeing Monday’s episode’s, all I can say is we knew it was too early for THE wedding.

I know that Maria is a servant, but they could have at least given her dresses that fit.

They need a tv or two and a few computers with internet connections at the hacienda and the hospital to keep dubious minds off of scheming and plotting for a few moments at least.

Why is Rogelio’s office just open and it’s contents accessible to any of the lowlifes that live there to just slither through? Not smart.

I felt sorry for the kid. He is going on the road again with Ana Paula because his father blah blah blahed once again. Time for Ana Paula to think of the kid her bro. ¡Basta ya!

I still enjoyed it all.

LQNPA

Correction: time for Ana Paula to think of the kid first and not her bro.

LQNPA

I found AP’s hair and makeup for the wedding to be *thumbs down*.

Rosaura will clearly never change. All she cares about is the $$. It’s not up to her to force any reconciliation but she’ll obviously attempt it for her own benefit.

LQNPA

Ana Paula looked beautiful, as usual. The woman has beautiful skin. Well, hair too, and eyes and smile and dimples, and whatever. But I am getting tired of all the off again, on again, off again.

Jarifa, that office is ridiculous. Two ways in and out, people popping in all the time, no security for anything. Is this any way to run a big business?

AP/ABC really was beautiful, and I did want to see her get married. Or, if that wasn't possible, to do the 'pick up her skirts and run off' thing. This talking to the guests and giving Rogelio hell... it's just not the same.

Granted what Rogelio did was really, really, really bad, but after all that "nothing could ever part us now" stuff from Ana Paula the last week or two, I'm a bit surprised she cancelled the wedding.

I know I keep saying this, but she should really take charge of Rogelio's fuete and whip him mercilessly for a few months to get it all out of her system. And it would do him some good, he should learn what it feels like to be on the receiving end.

Gus was sure happy to hear that Cupcake didn't get married by the Church. Boy, that guy is dumb.

Oh, well. How much more do we have to suffer through until happy, happy, happy?

Andy

LQNPA

Andy, it looks like this one wraps on Fri. and “Mariana de la noche” starts on Mon. 8/24. So only 6 more episodes to go! I sure hope we get that wedding on Friday. Maybe Cupcake can hide the fuete in the folds of her gown. LOL

As for today, I have nothing much to say. No big surprises just a lot of blah blah cry cry blah blah some more. It will be interesting seeing Cinthia in the psych wing of the prison hospital in Tuxtla. Why do I think she is going to regret playing the crazy card?

LQNPA
I seem to be behind in watching the latest episodes, so my comments always seem passe. I have yet to see AP in her latest wedding dress. I concur with the blah blah cry cry blah blah.

Ay, Cynthia--I knew from the git go she was pretending to be loca. At least Rog doubted it from the look on her face. It would be to both men's advantage to put her away, loca or not.

Can't wait to catch up. Bruno, like his Sortilegio namesake, just gets worse and worse. At least this Bruno doesn't wear thick neckscarves.

Andy are you going to watch MDLN? (I'm betting Jarifa does....)

LQNPA

I haven't had a chance yet to watch today's episodes, but I will soon. We're so close to the end that I really don't want to fall behind.

Jarifa, "a lot of blah blah cry cry blah blah some more" does seem to be this TN's specialty  :-)

Thanks also for the info re Mariana de la Noche. I took a quick look on Wikipedia (careful! I think there are spoilers), and it looks interesting but...

From 2003 and shot smaller screen size. Jorge Salinas again! Though if that's him in the quite small publicity artwork, I would never have recognized him! And there is Angélica Rivera, I think, with a fuete in hand. Here we go again.

Whatever. I'll record and watch it for a week to decide.

Anita, "I have yet to see AP in her latest wedding dress." Ha! She does get to wear a few, doesn't she?

Andy

LQNPA

I will give MDLN a try since it could be slim pickings for me for a while when “Como tú no hay 2” is over. The cast is impressive.I am glad I caught up on this one so I could watch with you guys. It made it so much more fun.

LQNPA

Yep, "a lot of blah blah cry cry blah blah some more". Cupcake said Rogelio had "un carácter de los mil demonios" which didn't sound good, but I had to look it up.

What gives with these shots of Rogelio in his wheelchair? He sits there like a sphinx and I can't figure out what he's up to, if anything. He has been such a bad boy. Nevermind the Force; use the Fuete, Cupcake, use the Fuete!

Bruno is such a lowlife! Why did he have to cover up Vanesa? And doesn't she have a bed?

We're closing in fast on the ending of this TN, and I have no idea what rabbits Rogelio is going to pull out of his cowboy hat to make things right. So I guess it's more "Must see TV!" for us.

Andy

LQNPA

I am watching right now and wondering if Rogelio is going to have to grovel for 3 1/2, 3, 2, or 1 more episode before Cupcake takes him back. Hmmmm . . . We got to have that wedding!!! Hope she has a more impressive dress than the last two times.

It is so enjoyable seeing that snake Cinthia behind bars. It sure takes a looong time to transfer prisoners to Tuxtla.

CAC (New TN)

Good Afternoon, Daytime Patio!

I have some news for you all. After a year that it premiered in Mexico, Univisión is finally bringing "Cita a Ciegas" to us sometime in September (no exact date known) at 2PM (E). It's a comedy that stars Sofía Garza, Victoria Ruffo and Arturo Peniche. There's a brief description here:

http://caraycaray.blogspot.com/2019/12/coming-soon-to-screen-near-youin-2020.html

I'll also include the description on the next "Daytime" page.

Have a great day!

CAC
RGV--Oh dear, Victoria Ruffo is such a turn off. Arturo Peniche is such a turn on. Ay de mi. Decisions, decisions.

LQNPA
Andy, the whole and only reason they picked Jorge Salinas for this role is that since his legs are useless, everything else revolves around his facial expressions and his eyes. I don't think there has ever been a tn (that I have watched, anyway) with more facial close-ups than this one. (Well, I'm rewatching AV and the camera just loves Big Ed.)

JS is sure all over the place this summer--MCET is still grinding away to the end, LQPNA, recently in TDLVida, and now a rerun of MDLN. I hope Urban is taking advantage of all this middle-aged eye candy.

CAC

I’m not familiar with Sofia Garza. I don’t know yet if I’ll watch or not. I kinda joked that if we’re mostly spared of VR tears I might check it out lol I’m not sure about MDLN either but we’ll see.

LQNPA

Glad Gustavo divorced Cynthia and got custody of Mari.

I have a feeling Vanessa will still try and hold off AP getting her half of the inheritance but I’m wondering how if she does.

QUIÉN ES LA MÁSCARA?

I saw an promo for this show that airs on Univision. The commercial was spoken in English language, and the ad ran during a daytime Stanley Cup Playoff game. Say whaaaa? LOL I had to rewind the TV just to make sure I heard that right.

I never would have guessed that Latinos watch hockey playoff games and during the day?!?

LQNPA

OK, one rabbit pulled out of a cowboy hat: la hacienda is a place of historical importance and can't be sold. How nice, though frustrating for Vanesa and Bruno. Those two have been checked a lot lately.

Miguel is back in prison, hopefully things will be better this time around.

Anita, Urban might appreciate MDLN, from 2003. J.S. was only about 35 then, for what that's worth.

Wow! Amazing the pacing in TNs! Now just two days (4 episodes) to go??? Whoa! The pace is going to pick up!

Andy

There is this new one that started
Yesterday I think, its called:
"Taxista". Its either on unimas or
Telemundo. It looks pretty good. Does anybody have any imfo on it?

Hi Nina!!!

LQNPA

Nina! Nice to see you again! Thanks for the heads-up, I found that La taxista is supposed to be on Galavision 3 - 4 PM. It was shown about 1 or 2 years ago on Galavisión or Unimás in the late afternoon. I saw parts of it with a friend and it was OK. There's a page for it on Wikipedia. As I said, I thought it was OK, but no more than that. It was a bit boring and I quickly lost interest except for gorgeous bad girl Cecilia Galliano.

Miguel has met an old tormentor in prison. I'm looking forward to seeing how this goes, and if it plays a part in wrapping things up. I would advise them to leave poor Miguel alone. Mess with him and Dani might just rip your heart out   :-)

Andy

LQNPA

I just saw Thursday’s #159/160. No surprise that sad sack Miguel got killed. He was marked to die from the get go. At least he found out that Auntie was the criminal behind all of his misery. Cinthia escaping and now on the lam is quite unbelievable but, “hey, it is just a story” I keep telling myself. The only smart thing she did was shooting out the tire on the police car. Anyway, I am looking forward to a grand wedding, after all of this, that will really mean something now that Cupcake has divorced Rogelio.

LQNPA
Really, Jarifa? I didn't remember Miguel's demise. I do remember Cin escaping. I must run to the living room and watch the recording!!! It's been like watching a new tn since I'd forgotten so much (menos JS's face....).

O/T

If you like Osvaldo Benavides who plays Miguel, you can see him in the limited series “Monarca” on Netflix.

LQNPA

Uf! I just finished this unhappy episode.

Jarifa, I was so sure you were wrong about them killing off Miguel because if Miguel died in prison Cupcake would never forgive ol' puppy face, never ever.

This TN has always had its depressing elements, but they have really come to the fore now, and I think we will in the end need more than just a month's después to get to happy, happy.

Meh.

Andy

LQNPA

Again, meh.

But at least, por fin, we have el fin.

Meh.

Andy

LQNPA

Andy, sorry to hear you found the ending “meh.” I enjoyed the gran final. All in all, this novela was much more enjoyable than I thought it was going to be. I am not a big fan of the “traditional” telenovelas and prefer the lighter comedic ones like “Como tú no hay 2” on Uni or action packed series like “La Reina del Sur.”

I thought the best scenes of the gran final were those with Auntie hopping around on one leg. Ana Bertha Espín must have had great fun playing the ethically challenged Auntie.

It must be nice to have a house so big you can have a raging fire in one part and not be disturbed in another as well as your own private chapel large enough to host a wedding.

I was hoping for a better wedding dress for Ana Paila but Rogelio had on a better looking shirt and tie this time around. Guess you can’t have everything but we did get a happy ending.

LQNPA

Jarifa, I did enjoy the TN a lot, especially early on. Lately not so much.

For instance, I didn't enjoy seeing people, even people I didn't much like such as Miguel and Gustavo, seeing them killed off as they were.

"It must be nice to have a house so big you can have a raging fire in one part and not be disturbed in another as well as your own private chapel large enough to host a wedding."

Absolutely! As long as you have servants to do the cleaning up.

:-)

Andy

LQNPA

Andy, oh yeah, you would need servants to go along with that place.

LQNPA
Well, Andy, it's all over including the shouting. They kept us waiting while Cupcake made up her mind. I think I can share now, that in the original, original, Gus got Cupcake. Unfortunately, Gus had to die a tn hero's death. If he hadn't died, for real, AP would have tucked him away in a corner of her heart and pulled him out to check on him from time to time. He'd always be hanging over Rogelio's head.

I really couldn't believe Rosaura's sudden nightmares, anguish and self-guilt led her to confessing her part in all the ill-gotten schemes, dead Miguel or no. She did try to make it sound as though Bruno duped her and led her around by the nose. Regardless, it was a quick and dirty way to tie up loose ends.

AP's wedding dress was very similar to the one she tore up. I would have liked seeing her in another style.

I admit to having enjoyed this re-run a lot. But it's time to turn the page on LQNPA. I don't see MDLN on my cable schedule yet. If anyone knows when and where it starts, let us know.

LQNPA

Anita, the "original, original"... would that be Monte Calvario from 1986? That's so long ago it hardly counts.   :-)

But "Mount Calvary", wow, this doesn't sound like a romp. Wikipedia has extremely little on its page for that TN in English, but the Spanish version does, and it sounds like a very, very different story.

I am generally underimpressed with José Ron, and was especially so in this TN. Nonetheless, I wish they hadn't killed him off, or Miguel either.
I would much rather have had Rosaura take the bullet for Miguel and redeem herself somewhat, and die. And then Miguel could keep what he knew about her to himself rather than upset Cupcake. And he should have lived HEA with Dani.

I like my happy endings happy.

In whichever version Gus won out over Rogelio, I hope it was a brighter Gus, different from the dimwitted Gus character in LQNPA. Such an improved Gus' winning out wouldn't have bothered me as I was not a great fan of Rogelio either, but in this version I never had a doubt who would get the Cupcake.

I would have preferred another dress and a nicer wedding for her though. Eh, whatever.

Yeah, definitely time to turn the page.

MDLN

Zap2it, which is hardly infallible, has MDLN replacing LQNPA on Unimás, 9 - 11 AM.
