I was watching the limited series “La búsqueda” on Netflix this weekend and someone looked familiar. It was Alejandro Calva aka “Batman” from “La Reina del Sur.” It is always fun seeing these actors outside of the roles you recognize them for. Anyway, that made me think of LRDS, of course, and how much I cannot wait for season #3.
I thought this episode had a lot of quick cuts and fast-moving dialog. I’m not sure if I have it exactly right so please jump in to add or correct where necessary.
Just as Kaya is about to look at the exchanged memory stick, Nilgun storms into his house. She accuses Kaya of wanting to kill Selim. She threatens to kill him if he harms Selim. In his inimitable style, Kaya shuts her down easily and tells her she’s no longer welcome in his home. The one thing they do agree on is Cennet and Selim do not belong together.
At the hospital, Arzu insists on taking Melisa home where she will be cared for and more importantly, be safe . Melisa is listening, smiling in her pretend sleep.
Selim and Pinar meet. She says Yasar recommends a hacker named Mustafa to crack the memory stick. Selim asks her if there is anything else. She thinks about “Cavidan” and Cennet saying don’t tell anyone, so she does not tell.
Cennet is walking around and thinks back to the lie Kaya told about not meeting with Cavidan in his house. She starts crying, falling to her knees. She wants her mommy!
Melisa is home and in a wheelchair. The family is around her and what a happy family they are, NOT! Kaya is mentioned Sema’s ears perk up. Melisa doesn’t want dinner she just wants to go to her room.
Selim goes to see the hacker. Results will be ready tomorrow.
Arzu is brushing Melisa’s hair. Arzu asks if Melisa deliberately caused the accident. Melisa says she can’t remember. All she can remember is she was losing her mother. Melisa deflects further questioning by laying on a guilt trip. She gets hysterical. She mentions Cennet and tells her mother she should leave now and go to her. She wishes she died in the accident. And this is all your fault, mother! Arzu falls for it and hugs Melisa tightly; she won’t leave her.
It’s nighttime and it’s raining hard. Arzu takes a drive to Cennet’s house but does not go in. She drives off.
Oh boy, it looks like Cennet hasn’t moved (or stopped crying) from the spot where she broke down earlier in the day. In the pouring rain, she yells out to no one, my mother doesn’t love me, but I’d still like to see her face and hear her voice once.
Guess what? Arzu drives by, sees Cennet and gets out of her car. Cennet says I want my mother and collapses into Arzu’s arms. The driver helps carry Cennet to the car. They take her home to Mukaddes.
Ozlem and Mahir are arguing. She wants him to be more caring and involved. She leaves the room and Sema walks in. Mahir starts arguing with her. He asks, why did you invite Ozlem into our house? He can’t think of anything but Melisa now. His family needs him. Sema counters, why do you care about a cheating woman who’s as crazy as her daughter? ¿Que? says Mahir. Open your eyes son, Arzu has a relationship with Kaya!
Arzu is putting Cennet to bed. She is totally exhausted and out of it. Cennet is calling for her mom. Arzu says I’m here with you. Arzu gets into the bed with her and they are holding onto each other. Mukaddes is touched by the scene.
dondi356
Nilgun brings down two suitcases full of Ozlem’s stuff. The rest will be sent later. Nilgun can’t wait to be rid of Ozlem. Last thing they need is a Soyer baby in their house. If Ozlem has this baby, she can’t come back. Selim wants his aunt home where she belongs.
No one can find Arzu. Melisa is standing in her room trying to reach her on the phone. Uh oh, Sema’s opening the door. Luck is with Melisa. Orhan calls to Sema and distracts her long enough for Melisa to get back in bed.
Cennet wakes and can’t remember how she got home. She gets out of bed and steps on the earring she dropped, her mom’s earring. Arzu and Mukaddes are talking downstairs. Arzu mentions how Melisa goes crazy at the mention of Cennet’s name. Kaya has ensured they will be enemies. Mukaddes reassures this will turn out alright. But as painful as it will be for Cennet, she must know the whole truth. Arzu says she will try again once things calm down (do they ever?) As she gets ready to leave, Arzu asks Mukaddes to keep in touch. Cennet is spying on the stairs and sees the birthmark on Arzu’s shoulder! It’s the same one she has, and she knows it’s identical to her mother’s. I think she knows that’s Arzu (or maybe not).
Selim drops Ozlem’s stuff off at the Soyers. He tells Ozlem she doesn’t belong here. He wants her home. It’s shameful to be living with a married man, his wife and his daughter. Selim says if she needs money, he will support her. She says she needs to secure her future. Selim doesn’t know there’s more to this. He presses her, she resists. Finally Ozlem resorts to the low blow saying, don’t worry about me, I’m not your real aunt. Poor Selim. Sema comes out and invites him in to see Melisa.
Melisa is out of bed again, wait, she says. Selim enters and pulls up a chair. She apologizes to him. He asks why she hired that man. She apologizes again. She wishes they could go back in time and they could be friends again. Selim says let’s put this aside for now and you concentrate on getting well. We will talk another time. Melisa appreciates it. She’s happy. Like Melisa says, Selim really is a good person. Too good.
Arzu runs into Selim as he’s leaving. He tells her he wants his aunt to come home. Arzu tells him he’s not responsible for Ozlem’s mistakes. They reminisce about when he and Melisa were kids. They talk about the kidnapping. Arzu blames Kaya for everything. Ah, that’s something they can agree on. Did I hear correctly—she also tells Selim he should be with Cennet?
Kaya is in his home office. Time to use the blackmail pics on Arzu. He inserts the memory stick into his laptop. It’s empty! There’s no password! Kaya is puzzled and angry. He calls for Halil. They check the security camera. It’s Pinar!
And we are out.

"100 días para enamorarnos 2", last Friday they finished filming in Miami.
"Falsa identidad 2", "Sonya Smith resumed in Mexico the recordings of the second season".
from, People en Español
dondi, finished last night, whew! what a magnificent story in oh so many ways, makes me see how much the world history I was taught was written by Europeans.
I took a quick look at Kosem, it starts with a boy Ahmed, born 24 years after Sulieman's death, who after 5 years in Manisa, was brought to Istanbul when his father Mehmet became Sultan and killed his 19 brothers.
I may give "Kuruluş: Osman" / the Ottoman, a try, but having a hard time finding the videos in english, here is the first chapter,
https://kurulusosman.online/kurulus-osman-season-1-episode-1-english-bolum-1/
Thanks VERY much, dondi356, for this wonderful recap! A lot happened in last night's episode, and you captured it all. And I loved your "Oh boy" and "once things calm down (do they ever?)."
Cennet is getting closer and closer to figuring out that Arzu=Cavidan=MAMA!! Her finding the earring (and then getting stung by it), and then her seeing the birth mark. I don't remember whether Arzu was speaking when Cennet caught a glimpse of her shoulder with the birth mark. If she was speaking, it's likely that Cennet would have recognized her voice.
I might also mention that when Arzu assures Mukaddes that she will come back and tell Cennet everything, something about her tone made me think "Uh oh, she may die before she has the chance to do this."
I have several questions about last night's episode. What makes Sema think that Arzu has a relationship with Kaya? She may not trust Arzu, but she obviously feels certain enough to berate Mahir for being unaware of this current "relationship."
Also, I found the scene between Ozlem and Selim somewhat confusing. Why does Selim drop Ozlem's suitcases off at the Soyers. Is it simply because that's where she was staying? And when Selim tells her he wants her home, where is home? And does Selim want her to have an abortion? From the little I know of him, that seems out of character.
I may be mistaken, but I'm under the impression that Sema DID get a fleeting glimpse of Melisa standing before Orhan distracts her. And the look on Melisa's face after she's back in bed suggests (at least to me) that she fears that Sema did see her standing. I agree that by the time Sema actually opens the door and looks in, Melisa is back in bed, seemingly asleep, but I really do think she caught that earlier glimpse. I'm betting Sema begins to figure things out. Melisa's fake paralysis, Kaya's presence in her hospital room, etc. Although, given the fact that we still have 4 weeks to go, this may not happen immediately.
What's up with Mustafa? He seems extraordinarily on edge and terrified.
And poor Pinar! I doubt there's any way she can explain what the security camera shows. It sure looks as if Kaya will add another killing to his list.
Muchas gracias, deb, for all the great info that you provide. I'm somewhat surprised, though, that several novelas had/have resumed filming in the midst of the pandemic. And in one case, in Miami! The increase in coronavirus cases in Florida is just about the worst in the country. And I think Mexico is not a great choice, either. Oh well....
Jarifa, I too am eagerly awaiting LRDS3. I confess that I was very skeptical when season 2 was announced, but I wound up being delighted with the result. My skepticism returned when I heard about season 3, fearing that Telemundo was reverting to its tendency to keep milking a successful telenovela until there's nothing left (as in El Señor de los Depends). But then I learned that Arturo Pérez-Reverte, the author of the novel on which the original telenovela was based, will have a hand in creating season 3 (as he did in season 1 and perhaps season 2 as well). So now I'm really looking forward to season 3.
I was pleased to see that some of the major actors I most enjoyed are returning. I'm wondering whether Oleg Yasikov will continue to be part of the plot in season 3. He was one of my favorite characters in season 1. I was very disappointed when an accident prevented Alberto Jiménez from playing the role again in season 2. Antonin Gil did an excellent job, but in my mind, no one can equal Jiménez in that role.
Thanks, deb, for providing info we've been waiting for! Can't wait to see not dubbed Spanish language shows again. Looking forward to Falsa Identidad 2.
If you think about it, it's not so surprising filming resumed in Miami, Florida. I hope every precaution is taken for the health and safety of the people working on the sets.
dondi356
Well, deb, if the Ottomans had made it to the new world…
IIRC, Telemundo’s showing of Kosem (La Sultana) was an edited version of the Turkish first season. I might watch the second season in Turkish someday. I might get around to Kuruluş: Osman, too. Thanks for the link. I’m wondering if it will eventually come to Netflix like MC’s first season.
There are sites for Turkish shows w/ English subs. But you have to be careful and have good protection/ad blockers on your computer. Some sites are subscription only.
Some final thoughts on MC:
When a man loves a woman: Mustafa summed it up when he told his father, you rule the whole world, but you can’t control a woman!
Ha, ha, Mahidevran made it to the end.
Hurrem got a taste of her own medicine with Nurbanu.
Great scenes with Hurrem at Ibrahim’s grave and settling with Mahidevran.
I must confess, I was more affected at the deaths of Mustafa and Cihangir and even Ibrahim, than I was for Hurrem. I couldn’t take her at all!
The last voice Suleiman heard was Ibrahim calling—the time has come. And the last word he said was Ibrahim, not Hurrem!
And they thanked us viewers at the end credits for sticking it out!
dondi356
What makes Sema think Arzu has a relationship with Kaya? Well, she’s always thought the worst of Arzu and has often searched for dirt on her. Previously, she thought Arzu was cheating with Cengiz because they spent so much time together. Yes, she spied on them, too. No sex was involved there, but Arzu and Cengiz conspired on lots of dirty dealings. So Sema is right to be suspicious but her conclusions are always a bit off.
Ozlem situation: Cengiz and Nilgun always thought Ozlem was a disgrace to the Arisoy family. When it was revealed that Ozlem was carrying Mahir’s baby, the ish hit the fan. Nilgun is the one demanding the abortion, not Selim. Nilgun’s terms are abortion or you’re out of the house. Sema agreed to take in Ozlem because she eventually wants custody of the baby. Then it’s goodbye Ozlem. Good hearted Selim thinks Ozlem and her baby are his responsibility and they should be at home with their own family.
It does seem impossible that Sema would not have caught a glimpse of Melisa out of bed. Given Sema’s suspicious nature, she may well catch onto something soon.
I have no info on Mustafa and yes, he’s quite paranoid. Who knows what kind of business dealings he has? Dark web?
Just an opinion: I don’t think Arzu will die before telling the truth, but she might not make it to the end. It would be sad if Cennet finds her mother only to have her quickly taken away. I have found that Turkish shows often have unhappy endings.
dondi356
Many thanks, yet again, dondi356, for all your helpful comments. Love your "the ish hit the fan!"
I'll try to put up some sort of recap, mini-cap, whatever-cap tonight.
Thanks, Juanita, for taking tonight's recapping.
Tropical Storm Isaias knocked out my TV reception this afternoon. Looks like there is damage to my antenna and connections. Don't know how quickly I can get someone to fix it. Thank goodness that's the only damage we have. And I thank goodness I still have working WIFI. I might have to wait until Telemundo posts the episode online to watch and recap for the time being.
dondi356
dondi356, I'm very sorry to hear about the damage Isaias has caused you. As you say, it's fortunate that you still have wi-fi. I used to live on the East Coast, and often when there was a storm, we'd lose our power, and thus our wi-fi.
I hope you'll be able to get the damage fixed quickly. But even if you have to depend on online episodes for a while, your posting recaps the next day would be fine for those of us on the West Coast. If you post a recap at noon, say, it will be only 9 am out here. And your recaps are always worth waiting for!
great comments dondi!
Mustafa talked about sailing to the new world (with Ibrahim?) he was the perfect prince, would have made a great Sultan, I didn't really buy into Sulieman's stupid rules for princes.
Mihrimah was the key to bringing down Mustafa which took the dynasty into the long winter, what is she complaining about, I was kind of startled at how much she despised Rusty, she just needed someone else to kill him, and here I gave up on him ever being killed.
maybe Hurrem's diary is lurking on the internet somewhere?
Nurbanu, drooling over her new ring, never missed a chance for us to despise her, and her chump Gazanfer, would you be an enuch for me, please.
did you see in the subtitles they called Selim "frat boy"?
Sulieman did bring peace and justice to a large portion of the world, an interesting guy.
Kaya is looking at the tape from the security camera. He sees not just Pinar but also Selim. He has Halil call Pinar. She's at the playground with her young daughter. Halil tells her that Kaya is having guests and needs her to help. Even though it's her day off, she tells him she'll be there in 30 minutes. Kaya is glad to know she has a daughter. He undoubtedly sees this as another way to pressure Pinar. He tells Halil he hopes it's not too late. If it is, he doesn't know how many graves Halil will have to dig to bury the people who have betrayed him.
Cennet calls Selim and asks him to come see her. She wants someone she can talk to. She seems somewhat nervous and upset.
Ozlem is in the kitchen and is startled by Mahir. She drops whatever she had in her hands. Mahir starts to clean up the mess on the floor. Suddenly Ozlem feels the baby's first kick. She takes Mahir's hand and puts it on her stomach so he can feel it, too. Of course, at this moment Arzu enters and sees him. She's furious. "This is too much! You have no shame," she tells him (or them). Keeping in mind what Sema has said about Arzu and Kaya, he tells Arzu "From now on, you will tell me where you go."
Mahir then talks to Sema. He asks her to tell him everything she knows about Arzu and Kaya. Sema says at this point it's only suspicions. He asks her whether she has any evidence. No, she replies.
Nilgun comes to see Cennet. She says she knows that at times she was wrong about Cennet, and she apologizes. However, she goes on, "I know that Selim is telling the truth [I assume she means about Kaya]. You have to end your relation with Selim." Selim has entered the room as she says this. Cennet is very upset and leaves. Nilgun tries to get Selim to take his ring off [is the ring some kind of engagement/commitment ring?] Selim refuses. He leaves to go find Cennet. He doesn't see her. He receives a call from Mustafa, telling him he has the code. Selim says he'll be right over.
At Kaya's, Halil starts playing the video for Pinar. She drops the tray she was holding and makes a run for the front door. She opens it to find Kaya holding her daughter. Kaya tells her that he's not playing a game. If Pinar doesn't answer his questions, her daughter will bear the consequences.
Cennet sits by the water, holding the earring that was left at Kaya's. She decides that she's tired of waiting for other people to do things for her. If she needs something done, she'll do it herself.
Melisa is in the bathroom holding the vial of paralytic liquid. She remembers being told to take it before a medical exam. She accidentally drops the vial and the liquid goes down the drain. She is somewhat panicked. A new doctor has come to examine her. She lies in bed and he pricks her heel. We see her hand tense up under the blanket, but she claims she feels nothing. He does another prick. She suddenly goes into full Melisa mode, yelling at him not to touch her and to leave. She tells her parents to leave as well, she wants to be alone. As soon as they're all gone, she tries to call Kaya. He is playing with Pinar's daughter and decides not to answer Melisa's call.
Pinar goes to Mustafa's. Mustafa comes to the door. Suddenly Halil and Kaya appear. Halil knocks Mustafa out, and they go inside.
Melisa accuses Arzu of having been with Cennet. Melisa tells Arzu not to touch her. Arzu, of course, does everything she can to make Melisa feel loved.
Cennet comes to Arzu's house. She's uncertain whether she's doing the right thing. She's about to leave when Orhan opens the door. He asks whether she has come to see Melisa. Cennet more or less says yes. Orhan tells her it will do Melisa good to see her, and he asks Cennet to come in.
Cennet and Orhan go up the stairs and see Sema listening at the door to Melisa's room. Sema quickly recovers her composure and invites Cennet in to see Melisa. They enter the room and see Arzu and Melisa in a strong embrace.
Cennet says she wants to thank Arzu for what she did last night, and she has also come to see Melisa. Melisa wants to know what happened last night. A nervous Arzu tells Cennet there's no need to thank her, but Melisa insists that she wants to know what happened. Cennet says that Arzu found her on the street, cold and very wet from the rain. "I passed out," Cennet says, "and Señora Arzu helped me." Arzu, not knowing when to leave well enough alone, says, "I went out for some fresh air, and I came upon Cennet." Melisa looks as she she doesn't believe her (and with good reason).
Cennet tells Melisa, "You'll be fine. You're very strong." Melisa suddenly decides that it's very hot in the room and she can't breathe. It's decided that they all go down to the water. Melisa doesn't want to ride in the same car as Cennet. Sema suggests that Cennet stay here and have tea, while Arzu and Melisa go.
Selim approaches Mustafa's place. He's feeling very good, thinking that he's about to get evidence against Kaya. He finds the entry door open. He goes in, calling "Mustafa?" He sees that Musfafa's room is a wreck, and no one is there. Selim realizes that Kaya must have found Mustafa.
Halil points out to Kaya that Pinar has done everything he asked, and Halil suggests that perhaps Kaya will now let her go. Nope. Then Pinar comes to plead her case to Kaya. Kaya tells her, "This will teach you a lesson. From now on, you'll do everyting I say. I pull the strings."
Down by the water, Melisa accuses Arzu of having lied to her and to Cennet. Arzu insists that she will never abandon Melisa. For the umpteenth time, Melisa asks Arzu, "Why do you want to tell Cennet that you're her mother?" She continues, "You're destroying Papa and me, our family. Is that what you want?"
Meanwhile, Sema is questioning Cennet. She wants to know whether Cennet plans to work with her father at the company. Cennet says no, she plans to work elsewhere. Cennet asks whether she can use the bathroom before she leaves. Sema tells her where it is. Cennet is apparently less interested in using the bathroom than in finding the matching earring. She finds Arzu's room, enters, and sees a jewelry box. She opens it. I think she finds the earring. She recalls the conversation she had with Pinar about "Cavidan" and the earring.
I kept fearing that Sema would find her going through Arzu's jewelry and accuse her of trying to steal some of it. Instead, the episode ends.
Juanita, I felt much like you about a Season 2 but ended up being impressed. The story, writing, cast, acting and production values were first rate again. After two successful productions, I am optimistic about a third. The fact that the author will be involved one more time is definitely a plus. As a matter of fact, I am watching season 2 again on Netflix and enjoying it just as much a second time. ITA about Alberto Jiménez. He is irreplaceable. I will eagerly be awaiting any news of the third season.
Jarifa: I wasn't shocked David got whacked & Alejandro got framed for the Police Commander's murder.
Thank you for another fine recap, Juanita. Sorry for late posting, the episode wasn’t available right away.
I hope Nilgun doesn’t do anything stupid. She’s capable of anything if she thinks it’s for Selim’s well being. That was Selim’s engagement ring she tried to rip off his finger. There is an engagement ceremony where two gold bands are tied to each end of a red ribbon. The rings are placed on the right hands of the couple and then a family member/close friend of the couple cuts the ribbon. Once the couple is married, they move the rings to the left hand.
I laughed when Orhan said it would do Melisa good to see Cennet. If they only knew. So tired of Melisa’s berrinches. The actresses who play Melisa and Arzu must be exhausted at the end of the day. Their characters fly into hysterics at the drop of a hat.
Halil seems to have a heart. Maybe he will find a way to save Pinar and her daughter from harm.
The pieces are coming together for Cennet. There’s still time for someone to catch her in Arzu’s room.
I’ll plan to do a recap for tonight’s show and post as soon as possible.
dondi356
deb, I'd love to read Hurrem's diary! That translation blog had a link to one of Hurrem's letters to Suleiman. There are other historical documents that are on the internet, but I don't know if I'll take time to seek them out.
Many times the translations were hilarious. Yes, saw frat boy! Ladies, feed, dog lord, inputs, websites...so many strange and comical translations. I lost it when someone called Rustem "great pancy", what ever that means. I had to stop the video for that one.
dondi356
dondi, I forgot to mention Tahmasp, he was just plain creepy, a refugee from the narconovelas.
Sulieman's last war, Siege of Szigetvár, they kept his death a secret, took down the castle, but what a cost.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siege_of_Szigetv%C3%A1r
Kuruluş: Osman / the Ottoman
I watched the first chapter, action/adventure, Bali Bey never disappoints, he does a good long hair Antonio Banderas, I recommend it, reminded me a bit of Robin Hood, riding through the forest, sneaking into the castle, but with a princess from the dark side, and ninja nuns on a religious quest, and Bali Bey's horse, wow.
alas, episode 2, get out your credit cards, but hey, I think I found it on youtube.
so if you're missing the Beys, Hatuns, and Effendis, this is a good fix and this first episode pretty much stands alone, well you know there is a bit of a cliff hanger.
https://kurulusosman.online/kurulus-osman-season-1-episode-1-english-bolum-1/
Sorry, Telemundo put this episode up very late this morning, Eastern time.
Cennet is in Arzu’s room. She finds the matching earring. No, no it can’t be. She sweeps everything off the dresser. Cennet takes off down the stairs. Sema calls out what’s that noise? Cennet? Cennet? Cennet runs out of the house, Sema takes off after her. Arzu and Melisa have arrived back home. Arzu sees Cennet and asks what’s going on. Sema has no clue. Melisa complains, is anyone going to take me out of the car?
Halil is making a case for Pinar and her daughter, let them go, you have what you want. Kaya does not want to hear. Just carry out orders, don’t interfere. Halil can’t let it go. Dealing with men is one thing, but a woman and her daughter is another. Meanwhile, Selim has arrived at Kaya’s. He hears the voices and goes around to the back of the house where Kaya and Halil are. He eavesdrops. Halil says things changed when he overheard that Kaya raped Cavidan. Kaya slaps him and pulls his gun on Halil. Halil is never to mention this again or else; his daughter must not know! Selim is shocked and takes off.
Cennet runs all the way home and pounds on the door screaming for Mukaddes. (Doesn’t she have a key to her house?) She collapses at the door sobbing. Neighbors come by and ask what is wrong. Go away, I want my abuela!, says Cennet They tell her Mukaddes is at the market.
Awful Melisa is being a brat to the help. She throws her out of her room, locks the door and puts on headphones. She blasts music and dances wildly around the room, throwing pillows, jumping on the bed. She can’t hear Arzu coming up the stairs. Arzu finds Melisa’s door is locked. She bangs and yells for her daughter. No answer as Melisa is having a grand old time jumping around in her room. Arzu orders the help to get the key. Melisa! Melisa! Hija!
The key does not work but the resourceful help picks the lock with a hairpin. Arzu bursts in and sees Melisa. What Arzu feared is true, they were all played by Melisa once again and in the cruelest way. She slaps her daughter. Melisa, you did this just to keep the truth from Cennet? Arzu exclaims, you don’t know how disappointed I am! How ashamed I am to have a daughter like you! Cennet does not deserve this!
Cennet makes a beeline to the market. She’s running around screaming, abuela! abuela! She grabs a woman who looks like Mukaddes. Everyone is looking at the crazy girl running through the market. Mukaddes hears the screams and finds Cennet.
A crowd gathers around as Cennet confronts Mukaddes in the middle of the market—is Arzu my mother? Mukaddes confirms, yes Arzu is your real mother. Cennet screams, mother! And falls to the ground. Cennet lights into Mukaddes, you knew this and kept it from me all this time? Why didn’t you tell me? You lied, you betrayed me. I want answers! It continues like this for a while. All Mukaddes can do is cry and beg forgiveness; she can’t say more. Cennet feels she is going crazy; how should she deal with this pain?
dondi356
Of course, Melisa has no remorse and says, is this my fault? Why should I pay the price? Arzu says Cennet is part of her past; she is her daughter, too. Melisa must accept this. All Melisa can think about is herself. Arzu begs her to understand. She can’t deny Cennet any longer, that was a big mistake. Don’t worry, everything will be ok.
Nope, Melisa’s not having it. You made your decision and didn’t choose me. She hands her mother an ultimatum, it’s Cennet or me. No room for both. Choose Cennet and you lose me. Choose now. Do you choose me or that bastard?
Suna shows up at the market and Cennet accuses her of betrayal, too. Cennet feels like a fool. She looked to Mukaddes and Suna as her mothers; they raised her. Suna wants to move this convo back home but Cennet takes off. Mukaddes is overcome and feels faint. Suna calls for a taxi.
Now Cennet is home, (I guess she found her key and btw where is Mukaddes?). She looks through her diary and rips out pages she wrote about her mother. She gets hysterical and throws stuff around the room. Selim shows up and hears this and runs upstairs. He listens as Cennet tells him Arzu is her mother. Why did no one tell her? She needs answers and everyone lies to her.
Selim flashes back to what he heard at Kaya’s and he’s done the 2+2. Now he’s crying, but doesn’t say anything about what he heard or suspects. Is he going to lie to her, too? He does his best to comfort Cennet.
Melisa’s words are echoing in Arzu’s head. Sema calls and Arzu comes running into Melisa’s room. It’s a miracle! Melisa is walking! Ha! Arzu doesn’t believe in this miracle. Sema goes to share the great news with Mahir. Well played, Melisa. Melisa tells Arzu she’s protecting her for the meantime. She could tell the truth that she faked but where would that leave both of them? Melisa says she does not want to be a part of her filthy game.
Melisa goes on, the decision shouldn’t be too hard mother, after all you abandoned Cennet for 23 years. Now suddenly you want to be her mother? You even risked your life to save Cennet from being raped. Why? Arzu thinks back to her own rape. Arzu tries to get Melisa to understand. Melisa thinks the reason Arzu has come around on Cennet is because of Kaya. Does Arzu want a happy family with Kaya and Cennet? Is there a spark of love for Kaya? This earns Melisa another slap from her mom. She yells at Melisa that she hates that man and Melisa needs to respect her. If this is the case, Melisa demands the explanation.
And we are out.

Thanks VERY much, dondi356, for another superb recap.
Perhaps if I had been watching this novela from the beginning, I'd be more sympathetic to Cennet, but I found her crazed behavior in last night's episode much too over-the-top. At one point in your recap, you said "Cennet feels like a fool," and all I could think was, "And with good reason!" And it wasn't just the actor over-acting; even the camerawork contributed to the excess, as it kept circling 360º around Cennet and Mukaddes.
I wonder whether it's something in Arzu's genes, since last night Cennet and Melisa seemed truly like sisters, both of them irrational and screaming at the top of their lungs.
I don't understand why Melisa says she's "protecting" Arzu by not admitting that she faked the whole paralysis bit. It seeems like the only person Melisa is protecting is herself, by not revealing herself to be a flagrant, heartless liar. I kept wishing Arzu would tell Sema "no, Melisa didn't suddenly recover, she's been faking this all along, as I found when I came in and she was dancing and bouncing on the bed." And after all the grief Melisa seems to have caused Arzu, and Melisa's continued insistence that she will NOT share Arzu with Cennet, why doesn't Arzu say "OK, you want me to choose, I'll choose Cennet"?
Perhaps related to the above, I also don't understand what Melisa is referring to when she says to Arzu that she doesn't want to be part of Arzu's filthy game? Is that related to Melisa's total misunderstanding of how Arzu feels about Kaya?
BTW, I loved your aside "(Doesn’t she have a key to her house?)"
Thanks, Juanita. I warned you this was over the top soapy. Melodrama on steroids--the writing, the directing and the acting. Lots of scenery chewing! This show was based on a Korean drama. I wonder if that was as soapy.
Melisa began to suspect there was something between Kaya and Arzu, especially after she discovered Arzu is Cennet’s mother. Then Kaya made his feelings about Arzu clear to Melisa. That’s the source of Melisa’s misunderstanding. Even so, I don’t think she wants to protect her mother as much as she wants to have her all to herself.
All along, Arzu chose Melisa. She did terrible things to Cennet to get her out of their lives. She also backed Melisa on her quest for Selim. Arzu began to soften a bit when Melisa started in with the evil schemes against Cennet. Still, her motivation was more to protect Melisa than Cennet. The turning point was the attempted rape. Now, Arzu has done a 180 about Cennet. Melisa can’t take it and we can’t take Melisa. Melisa needed to stay at that psychiatric hospital.

Thanks very much, dondi356, for filling in more of the background.
I'll put up some sort of recap or mini-cap of tonight's episode.
