Cennet #97 part one

Sema asks Mahir, what if they both had something to do with this? What if Arzu knew from the beginning. With Arzu, anything is possible.

Arzu knocks at Mukaddes’ door. Is Cennet home? Mukaddes is cold to Arzu. Mukaddes says Cennet is out, what do you want? Do I have to explain again? Please let me in, says Arzu. Mukaddes reluctantly lets her in. Arzu assures Mukaddes that she will never abandon Cennet again. Mukaddes says you should have told her sooner and Arzu agrees. Arzu is full of regret.

Cennet uncovers some irregularities at Durak Construction. Some invoices are forgeries. She mentions this to Durak who says MYOB and Cennet storms out. Well that job lasted about 5 minutes.

As Cennet leaves Durak, Arzu spies her on the street. Arzu hops out of the car and runs to Cennet who is not happy to see her. Arzu asks about her new job and Cennet lets her know she quit. Great! says Arzu, come with me. Cennet is in no mood. Arzu says then just listen. Cennet starts to walk away and Arzu says get in the car or I’ll follow you. Cennet eventually relents and gets in the car with Arzu.

Melisa enters Selim’s office. She needs help with some paperwork. Selim can’t figure it out either and Melisa turns to go saying we’ll deal with it later. Selim grabs her hand and he invites her to a working dinner at 8p. She mentions her birthday. She’s having a small get together at home tonight. (I don't think we ever see this, perhaps thankfully so) Selim smiles and says he will be there as he has been all his life. Melisa is thrilled and leaves. Selim drops the smile and says, your birthday will be unforgettable Melisa.

Cennet is with Arzu in the park. Arzu offers Cennet a job. Cennet does not want to go back to SR. No, come back as an independent, with Melisa. Arzu starts to tell her about the orphanage project. That gets Cennet’s attention. Arzu says, I need you on this project. Why? Because you will put your whole heart into this project. It won’t be just another job for you. You know about hopes and dreams and would want to make the children happy. Cennet accepts.

Cihan’s man tells him that Kaya has a daughter with Cavidan, Cennet. So Cavidan is Arzu? Cihan says, let’s begin as soon as possible. I will show him what grief is.

Arzu arrives home. Mahir calls her over to talk. Sema is there, too. I have to ask you something but don’t misunderstand. This man Halil, do you know him? This man took pics to blackmail you and Cengiz. That’s right, answers Arzu. Mahir is going too slow for Sema’s liking. She pushes him aside and cuts to the chase. Ok, what’s in the original pictures? Riza was in those pictures. They showed his burial. Did Kaya’s man take the pictures? Arzu is silent.

Sema concludes, so it’s true? Arzu, are you mixed up in this with Cengiz? Did you two kill Riza? Arzu musters up a weak, no, it’s a lie. Sema: So then, tell me how did it happen? Tell me did one kill him and the other bury him? Flashback to the scene of the burial. Sema screams, you murdered him! You showed no mercy! He called you daughter and you killed him! Mahir says enough, mother. Sema continues, why do you think Kaya came, they are together! Mahir again says enough. He asks Arzu to please answer. Arzu denies everything saying, I know what you know. I only covered for Mahir and Ozlem. I don’t know if Cengiz said anything. Mahir says it’s ok, Arzu, we will stop here. Sema sneers.

Cennet #97 part 2

Kaya is sitting with his gun and the timer. Halil comes in. Kaya is ticked, What are you doing here? I told you to watch Cennet. Don’t worry, I have a guy watching her. He tells Halil about Cihan’s plans for Arzu and Cennet. Cihan doesn’t want to kill me; he wants to kill my loved ones. Halil looks concerned. he thinks Cihan wouldn’t do that. Kaya says Cihan is capable of this, he thinks I killed his wife. Halil says so let’s kill him. Not possible, says Kaya, he has too many guards. Kaya must resolve this alone. He leaves Halil there.

Cennet is having iftar dinner (evening meal during Ramadan) with Mukaddes. I hear the call to prayer in the background. She tells Mukaddes about working with SR again. She’s happy about the orphanage project. Mukaddes asks if Melisa will be an obstacle.

Cennet calls Melisa during her dinner with Selim. Melisa gets up from the table to take the call. Cennet is happy they will be working together. She wants to know why Melisa didn’t call her. Melisa says it was supposed to be a surprise. Cennet thinks Melisa sounds distracted and she asks if Melisa is with someone. Yes, i'm with some friends. Cennet closes, see you tomorrow. Selim notes Melisa walked away to talk. He says it must have been important. Just a friend who was upset. Selim is suspicious.

Halil meets Arzu and fills her in. He tells her Kaya took off. He is scared of Cihan. Kaya thinks you and Cennet are in danger. Arzu is not concerned. Halil continues, I’ve never seen him like this. Arzu wonders why Cihan would want to hurt them. Halil does not know but he says, you and Cennet need to be careful. One wrong move can be deadly.

Kaya shows up at Cihan’s and is promptly knocked out.

Arzu thinks about what Halil said. She replays Kayas warning and calls Cihan to meet.

I am assuming that Cihan is hosting an iftar dinner for the neighborhood. A woman thanks Cihan for something and he will see her at the office tomorrow. Arzu shows up. Cihan is sorry she had to come all the way here. Cihan holds this “party” here every year. He explains to Arzu he was born here and even though his friends are gone, he still likes it here. Arzu gets down to it quickly; she wants to know his plan. They had a deal.

Arzu told him where to find his wife’s killer. Cihan will tell Arzu his plan but first he has a question. What do you expect from me? Nothing says Arzu. Please, don’t you want to get rid of Kaya? Arzu says that’s right, I told you this before. Cihan says ok, but you didn’t say exactly what you wanted. You expect me to kill him, don’t you? Arzu fumbles for an answer, well…I never…no… Cihan says, then we have to clear things up. If I was a killer, I would have killed him a long time ago. I’m not a killer. I’m not Kaya. There’s a difference between him and me.

Back to the working dinner. Melisa has stars in her eyes while looking at Selim when he speaks. (Yes, Selim, of course, Selim. I wonder if she is actually paying attention to what he’s saying.) Melisa tells Selim that Cennet is going to be working at SR. He continues as if he didn’t hear what Melisa said.

Melisa wants to know what’s going on. She brought up Cennet and he didn’t care. He is here, having dinner with her. Nothing, says Selim, I’m going back to how it was before Cennet. The way it should have stayed. Melisa is suspicious. Selim is just trying to move on. Melisa asks if he really broke up with Cennet. That’s right, says Selim. He thought it was was love but it was a burden. He feels relieved. Melisa is buying it.

Cennet #97 part 3

Unconscious Kaya is tied to a pole. One of Cihan’s men texts “the fish took the bait”. Cihan reads the text and smiles. Arzu asks if Cihan is using the people around Kaya to catch him. Cihan promises not to hurt Arzu or Cennet. He’s only messing with Kaya. Arzu seems satisfied with this.

Cihan’s men are preparing Kaya for some sort of torture. We see a man with a pic of Cennet. Another man says this ends tomorrow.

Kaya is doused with water and is hooked up to an electrical source. Cihan tells Kaya, you couldn’t sleep so you came to see me. Kaya asks, what do you want from me? Cihan wants Kaya to confess to killing his wife. Kaya claims he didn’t kill Cihan’s wife and if Cihan wants to kill someone, kill him. Kaya gets a shock treatment. Confess, Kaya! I won’t--I didn’t do it! Ok for now, says Cihan.

Selim asks Pinar about her meeting with Halil. All he said was Kaya is paying for something he did in the past. Nilgun comes barging in and chases Pinar away. She asks Selim when Pinar will leave; she doesn’t like her. Selim says Pinar is staying for now, she can’t go back to Kaya. Nilgun asks Selim to forget about Kaya, forget about revenge. Never, says Selim. Kaya will confess what he did to my father and he will pay. Sure, just like that says Nilgun.

Melisa shows up to get Selim for work. She’s all smiles. Selim goes to get ready. Nilgun sneers, what the hell do you think you’re doing? Melisa’s responds, I told you I’m not like Cennet. I’ll do anything to be with Selim. Nilgun says, it will never happen. Melisa says she doesn’t need Nilgun’s permission. Nilgun will obey conditions or Melisa will tell Selim we made a deal.

Kaya is taken from a van. Good morning says Cihan. Kaya asks if the torture will continue. He says just shoot me in the head and finish it because I did not kill your wife. Ok then, get ready for what comes next. Kaya says I came to you, gave you my gun and asked you to shoot me. All I wanted was respect.

We see the Cihan’s men bring Halil. He says to Kaya, Cennet, Cennet, before they lead him away. Kaya is screaming, what happened to Cennet? We see men leading a woman out of a van and into a nearby shack. We are led to believe this is Cennet but we can’t see her face. Kaya screams after her, Cennet! I’m here! Let her go!

The shack is doused with gasoline. Cihan says he’s not joking. Kaya is begging. Don’t do it! No, no, no! Confess, Kaya! Kaya tries to break free, but the men hold him back. Finally Kaya relents, ok ok, I did it I confess! Leave my daughter alone!

Cihan recalls, I didn’t recognize her she when I saw her. She was badly burned. They brought her in a plastic bag! My wife was pregnant. You killed my wife and daughter! I buried my family! Kaya says, so kill me and let my daughter go. Nope, not gonna happen! Kaya is going to hurt like Cihan did. And Cihan sets the fire.

Kaya breaks free and runs into the shack. He tries to put out the fire. What he thinks is Cennet turns out to be a mannequin. He’s in shock. So, where’s Cennet? Kaya calls for his daughter. Where is she, where is she?

Cennet finds her blouse and sweater are missing. She hung them on the clothesline, and someone must have stolen them. Mukaddes says Cennet will be late for work. She will take care of it.

Kaya is on his knees begging Cihan, kill me but don’t touch my daughter! Where is she? Well, the joke is on Kaya. It was a Cennet look alike. Cihan says he’s going to the office now. There’s meeting in an hour. Kaya threatens to kill Cihan. Cihan doesn’t care if he dies, but he swears that Arzu and Cennet will and that Kaya will be there to see it.

Arzu meets Cennet in the SR lobby. Why didn’t you come to my office, she asks? Cennet wanted to wait for Melisa. They sit down to wait for Melisa together. They talk about the project. Just then Melisa and Selim happily walk in together. Cennet glares at them.

And we are out.

Muchísimas gracias, dondi356, for yet another superb recap! You captured everything beautifully. And I see I was right to ask you to swap with me. I couldn't have done last night's recap for two reasons. One is that I'm still a little unclear about Sema's questioning Arzu about the photos, and the other is that at least here on the West Coast, Cennet didn't start until 10:30 PM!

I first turned on Telemundo at 8:54, the time Telemundo's web site claimed Cennet would start. But Exatlón was on and showed no sign of ending anytime soon. I tried again at 9 PM and again at 10 PM. To my astonishment, even at 10 PM, Exatlón was going strong. Yawn. I decided to keep the TV on without the sound and glance at it every now and then, while turning my attention to other things. At one point I glanced up and saw that Cennet had finally started! It was 10:33 PM. Apparently it started at 10:30, pushing Telemundo's 11 PM newscast to 11:30. I could NEVER have started a recap at 11:30 pm, not to mention that I hadn't seen the first few minutes.

I'm really disappointed in Telemundo for not at least making it clear when the west coast broadcast would start. I have no idea whether there were similar screwups in other time zones. I hope you weren't similarly inconvenienced. Tonight, all is supposed to go back to the normal schedule. And so I hope to do some sort of recap.

Thanks, Juanita. If it wasn't for you and deb giving the heads up, I probably would have missed the first 6-7 minutes of Cennet. It was listed at 9p on my TV but started at 8:54 Eastern. It seems most of us who frequent Telemundo y mas are either East coast or West coast.

GOOD recap dondi356. That scene with cihan playin that stunk with
Kaya to get him to confess was abit
Weak. Kaya was much more convincing with his threats. He actually did
What he said, he wrung selims dad's
Neck and then pushed him down the stairs. Pure evil he is. But he's
A whimp when begging for his childs
Life. Which is understandable you want to save your childrens lives.
But what a jerk he is. He rapes arzu and calls it love. He's a Sick bastasd I tell you, sick. Most of the people on this show is. But are
Interesting.

I knew that wasn't cennet when they wouldn't show her face.
That whole scene was kinda...whimpy
Not very convincing. They look like they were having more fun than they
Were being serious. That guy that plays kaya looks like he had a good
Pedicure for the shock foot scene.

Cennet - #98 - pt 1 de 3

Selim tells Melisa he'll see her tonight. Arzu is puzzled. He explains, at Melisa's birthday party. Ah, yes. Arzu asks Cennet whether she'll be there. Cennet says no. Melisa asks her to come. "I'll be hurt if you don't." Cennet-Who-Never-Learns agrees to come.

Kaya and Halil thumb a ride after leaving Cihan's. Kaya wonders how Cihan got hold of the necklace.

At SR, Cihan meets with Arzu and is introduced to Melisa and Cennet. "You have two successful daughters," he says. Cennet says she wants to discuss the plans with Melisa before proceeding. They all agree that this will be considered an introductory meeting. Suddenly a group of employees come into the room carrying a birthday cake and singing Happy Birthday to Melisa. It turns out that Selim organized this. Melisa looks at him with adoring eyes.

Kaya arrives at SR and warns Cennet not to trust Cihan, he's dangerous. Suddenly Kaya pulls out a pistol and points it at Cihan. He then turns the pistol around and tells Cihan to kill him. Two security guards arrive and forcefully remove Kaya from the premises. Selim asks Arzu whether she knows what happened. He mentions that Kaya look scared.

A short time later, Arzu takes Selim aside. She tells him she knows he's angry at Cennet. She won't defend what Cennet did, but Selim should try to understand her. She continues, "We both know Melisa" (and, presumably, what she's like). Selim replies that Cennet made her own decision, but tonight he'll show her that she was wrong.

It looks as if Kaya and Halil are back at Kaya's house, but there's a guard with a pistol watching them. Kaya says he has to go to the bathroom. The guard lets him pass. Halil then jumps the guard from behind. They fight, and as they do so, Kaya makes his exit.

Melisa asks Cennet's opinion about which dress to wear to the party. Cennet asks her what's up with her and Selim. Cennet points out that she and Melisa love the same man, but Cennet gave him up for her sister. Melisa claims Cennet is saying this to hurt her. Cennet denies this, but says she just doesn't like the situation. Melisa tells her that she understands, and asks Cennet to trust her. [Viewerville loudly screams "NO!!] Melisa claims that she and Selim are simply childhood friends, but she'll end her relationship right now. She phones Selim and asks him where he is. He says he's on his way to her party. She tells him "Don't come." Cennet, who clearly hasn't heard Viewerville's screams, takes Melisa's phone call as a sign that Melisa has her interests at heart. Melisa then tells Selim that he must have misunderstood what she said, her phone has been acting up lately. Cennet tells Melisa "I trust you," and we see a slight smirk on Melisa's face as they hug.

Arzu has apparently come to see Cihan at his house. As she waits for him, she looks at multiple photos of Cihan and presumably his wife. Arzu is quite nervous. She gets up, walks over to the desk, and sees Cihan's computer open with a triple photo of Kaya, Arzu, and Cennet, with a big X next to Cennet, and the countdown numbers continuing to race by. There are just a few minutes left. "You scoundrel!"( desgraciado) she mutters, and she hurries out the door.

Meanwhile, Kaya is at Mukaddes's place demanding to know where Cennet is. When Mukaddes doesn't immediately tell him, he grabs her by the neck.

Arzu is racing in her car to get back to Cennet. She phones Mahir, and when he assures her that Cennet is still there, she tells him "Don't let her leave the house! I'll be there very soon."

Kaya too is driving as fast as he can to get to Cennet.
 

Cennet - #98 - pt. 2 de 3

Selim asks Cennet whether she remembers what he said, that neither her family nor her sister nor anyone can stand in the way of true love. He then asks her, "Are you ready?" [Frankly, I have no idea what the purpose of this scene is.]

Cihan finds that Arzu has left his house. A man comes in and tells him that Kaya has escaped, he must have suspected something. Cihan looks around, notices that a photo on his desk is out of place, then sees the triple photo on his computer and realizes that Arzu must have seen it. "End the job now!" he screams at one of his men.

We then have more strange behavior from Selim. He tells Melisa that, as she knows, he has had painful experiences in his life, and he would rather be loved than love someone. Melisa tells him that Cennet and she want the best for each other. Cennet is standing out of sight, listening. Selim tells Melisa that he wants calm and love. He wants to be truly loved. He asks her whether she's willing to give it a try together. He continues, "Nobody has ever fought for my love like you." Melisa is a bit wary. "What is this?" she asks him. "Why are you doing this?" Selim tells her he always has asked what is love. "Is it mutual? Love isn't enough if you don't nurture it. Can you forget about everyone else and be with me?" Melisa asks whether he's messing with her. He asks, "Are you going to give me up and use your sister as an excuse?" Melisa responds, "Are you crazy? I've loved you all my life and I do anything for you." [I keep feeling that I've missed some key translations here--I thought Selim told Arzu that he'd show Cennet that she was wrong, but this conversation seems to me to show that perhaps she was right.]

Cennet has overheard all of the above conversation, and not surprisingly she immediately leaves the party. As she reaches the street, Arzu's car pulls up and Arzu tells Cennet to come with her. Almost simultaneously, Kaya's car arrives and Kaya tells Cennet to come with him. Cennet wants to know what's going on. Suddenly, Kaya takes out his pistol and points it to the sky, and at the same time, Arzu steps in front of Cennet. [It would seem as if both Arzu and Kaya had some kind of sixth sense that Cennet was about to be shot.] As soon as Arzu steps in front of Cennet, we hear a muffled shot and see Arzu fall with a bullet wound in the chest. Cennet screams "MADRE!!!!!" She asks Kaya for help. He tells her where to put pressure on the wound and then rushes off to pursue the shooter. He eventually returns and helps take Arzu to the hospital.

Cihan receives a report: "They found the girl. The mother put herself in the way."

Mahir is informed that Arzu has been shot and taken to the hospital. Selim asks Melisa to come with him to the hospital.

At the hospital, Cennet tells Kaya to go away, he's not part of her family.

Cihan watches as a dejected Kaya walks toward his car, crying. Cihan looks satisfied. He gets out of his car and walks toward Kaya. He stands before Kaya with a pleased look on his face. He tells Kaya, "I promised my wife that I wouldn't rest until I had vengeance." Kaya then launches into a really gruesome account of Cihan's wife's death. He tells Cihan, "She pleaded with me to save her. I could have saved her, but I didn't....I let the fire consume her." Kaya seems intent on provoking Cihan to kill him. Cihan suddenly laughs. "I almost believed you. You're very clever, Kaya." He walks away. He tells the guy who is with him, "Change of plans. I want that woman for me."
 

Cennet - #98 - pt. 3 de 3

The family has gathered at the hospital. A nurse comes out and announces that they need RH-negative blood. Cennet says she has that blood type. She goes with the nurse.

Cihan's man tells him, you must not have meant what you said. You were just angry. Cihan says that when he wants vengeance, he either kills or uses the target's loved ones. "I tried the first--I didn't like it. Arzu Soyer will be mine officially."

Melisa asks Cennet to tell her what happened. "It happened so fast," Cennet says, "She jumped in front of the bullet. It hit her in the chest. She saved my life." Melisa seems jealous once again.

Much shouting can be heard in the hall outside the room where Cennet and Melisa are talking. Melisa goes to see what's happening. Mahir is convinced that what happened to Arzu is Kaya's fault, and he's trying to attack Kaya, but people are holding him back. "If it wasn't Kaya's fault, whose was it?" he asks, as the episode ends.

Fabulous recap, Juanita! Thank you so very much! Really enjoyed your descriptor, “Cennet-Who-Never-Learns”.

Melisa asks Cennet to trust her? That was me you heard screaming NOOOO!, all the way from NY.

Ha, ha, Kaya and Halil hitching. I wanted to see them in the back of the truck on a pile of hay with clucking chickens all around.

I wonder if Halil is ok. He was struggling with the armed guard as Kaya made his exit. It looked like the guard was able to pick up the gun and point it at Halil. The scene abruptly cut away.

I think Selim has finally learned a few dirty tricks from being around such morally challenged people. These people include the ones who have professed to love him the most: Nilgun, Melisa and the late Cengiz.

Juanita, I think you are correct, Selim wants Cennet to see she is wrong about Melisa. I think that Selim wants to out Melisa to Cennet. Melisa is not her loving sister even though this will break her heart. Not to worry, Selim will be there to pick up the pieces. I had suspicions when he suddenly started acting nice to Melisa and again when he told Cennet, “Are you ready?” I think he might have told Cennet his plan, but we did not hear the rest of that convo. Seemed he knew Cennet was listening in. I could be off base.

BTW, that Ramadan dinner and Cihan’s party from the previous night must have been for the feast of Eid al-Fitr, signaling the end of Ramadan. Otherwise, I don’t think Melisa would have birthday cake during daytime.

Well, Arzu realizes her mistake to bring Cihan into the picture. Cihan is just as bad as Kaya, maybe worse. How will he force her to be his? Isn’t Arzu still married to Mahir? Kaya did find a divorce petition, but was that for real?

I believe Arzu noticed the laser sight from the sniper’s rifle on Cennet and then jumped in front to save her.

Hi Nina, so I wasn’t the only one checking out Kaya’s feet? Yes, Orhan lost and became unnecessary. I won’t feel too sorry for him, though. He was a schemer, too. Agree this novela is so over the top it’s almost comical. I get a kick out of Kaya at times. FYI, dondi is my nickname from childhood (a mashup of first and last name) and 356 refers to a building address.

Thanks so much, dondi356, for your insightful and helpful comment. I wasn't at all sure how to take "Are you ready for this," but what you say makes good sense.

I greatly appreciate your pointing out aspects of Ramadan that went right by me, such as the dinner and party having to have been for the feast of Eid-al-Fitr. Thanks for explaining that.

I too wonder whether Halil is OK. He's been leading a very dangerous life, playing both sides.

And I agree, Cihan is turning out to be as nasty as Kaya, though better looking and more polished. Actually, I'm not sure Cihan is quite as nasty as Kaya. I confess that I have more sympathy for someone seeking vengeance than for a deranged rapist and murderer like Kaya.
