I will do some sort of recap of tonight's episode.

dondi356, my rather belated comments on your terrific recap of last night's episode are on the previous TyM page.

Todo por mi hija - #18 - p 1 de 3

Oyku opens the first package Demir has brought for her. It's the cute dress he bought with Candan's help. Oyku can scarcely believe her eyes. "I love it! Can I wear it?" She's all set to leave for home to try on the dress, but Demir stops her. He points to the other package. She finds an attractive pair of dress shoes. She wants to go home, change into her new clothes, and then go buy a gift for Mercan. "What?" exclaims Demir. "No way!" Oyku insists--it's his birthday, people bring presents. Demir objects, "He's not my son. I don't buy him a present." She and Demir go through the by-now-familiar yes no yes no routine. With the matter still unresolved, they arrive home and Oyku goes into the bathroom to change. She comes out. Demir is almost speechless. "You look...pretty," he finally says. She asks him to help her with the zipper at the back of the dress. Of course, he manages to catch her long hair in the zipper. Once that's fixed, she arranges her hair with some colored clips.

We next see Oyku and Demir in a bookstore, where Oyku is trying to find a present for Mercan. She finally choses one about planets, a subject that interests Mercan a lot. Demir objects that it's too expensive. Of course, they buy it, but as they're headed for the party, Demir insists that Oyku will have to pay him back when she grows up. Oyku responds, "OK, but you'll have to be nice to me until then."

At the party, Oyku goes off with Mercan, while Demir tries to find a place to sit and wait. One of the mothers comes over and seems to be interested in him. She asks whether he cooks, then wants to know his specialty. It's a silly scene. FF>> It's time for blowing out the candles on the cake. Mercan doesn't seem to know the routine; Oyku has to tell him to make a wish first. After he's done this and blown out the candles, Demir asks Mercan what he wished for. Oyku tells Demir that the wish has to be a secret. (I guess it's possible that Demir had no experience with this sort of party at the orphanage.)

Someone asks Demir to take a group photo, and someone else is apparently recording in video. Whether this will turn out to be important remains to be seen. Demir keeps grousing about how much time Mercan and Oyku are spending together. This silly theme is getting very tired, or at least I'm getting very tired of it.

Llayda and her mother arrive late because of traffic. Mercan's mother suggests that Llayda's mother sit next to Demir (!). The less-than-thrilled mother does so, and then introduces herself to Demir as "the mother of Llayda, the girl your daughter hit." Demir responds, "I thought she just bit her." Blondie's Mother (from now on, BM) says "Such behavior must be common for a child without parents." Demir asks who she's talking about, and when she points out Oyku, he reminds her that he's Oyku's father. BM responds, "If you can't take care of her, there are orphanages to do the job." Oyku overhears her say this and insists that her father takes good care of her. Demir has had enough of BM and tells Oyku it's time to leave.

Candan goes to Murat's hospital to get medicine she needs for ShimShek. Ihsan, aka the Evil Doctor, comes in to see Murat. Candan is about to leave, but she mentions Oyku's name, and Evil Doctor suddenly pays attention. He remembers Candan asking about Oyku at the hospital. He tells Murat he'll be right back and runs to catch up to Candan. He tells her it's urgent that he get in touch with Oyku's father.

As Oyku and Demir are walking home, Oyku apologizes. Demir tells her not to apologize, it's not her fault. He says he's glad they left early, he might have started to knit if they stayed any longer.

Todo por mi hija - #18 - p 2 de 3

Oyku tries to cheer Demir up. She asks whether he'd like her to get him an ice cream. She has some money left from the money he gives her for school. He tells her to save her money. At that point, the closeness between the two of them is interrupted by Demir's phone ringing. Ugur calls to say that he's talked to Korkmaz. The job is tonight.

At home, Demir isn't feeling well. He said he ate too much. The Evil Doctor calls him. He says it's important that they talk and asks him to come to the hospital in the morning. Demir wants to know why, but the doctor says he'd rather talk to him in person. He tells him to come at 10 am. "OK, doctor," says Demir. That's all Oyku needs to hear. She asks Demir who called. Demir tells her it was the doctor from the hospital. It's probably about payment of the bill. Demir goes to the bathroom, and Oyku grabs her backpack and jacket and flees without removing the cute cat's whiskers that she had drawn on her face.
Demir comes out of the bathroom to find Oyku gone. He knocks on Candan's door. No answer. He then goes outside to look for her.

Oyku is on a bus. She remembers how upset her aunt had been after speaking with the doctor. She also remembers trying to assure her aunt that she'll be OK. She then wipes her cat's whiskers off her face and, to my astonishment, she goes to see the Evil Doctor. He's surprised to see her, since his appointment with her father wasn't until 10 the next morning. Oyku tells him she came alone, and that she doesn't want her father to know about this. The doctor claims he doesn't know what she's talking about. Oyku says she knows all about it. She essentially repeats what the doctor had told her aunt. It starts with dementia, with the loss of memory. Then I won't be able to control my body's movements. Evil Doctor wants to know how she knows this. She tells him she overheard another doctor tell her aunt. She asks the doctor not to tell anyone about her disease. She then demonstrates that she can recite all the train stations, and that she can repeat this. She does so, crying. She repeats her wish that no one else find out about that, not even her father. She proposes that it be a secret between the two of them.

Evil Doctor seems quite moved (perhaps I'll have to find a better name for him). He tells her that her father has to know. He understands how she feels, but he can't hide the information from her father. Oyku replies, "OK, in that case, I'll disappear." The doctor proposes that they have some tea and talk about it. [Some of this now seems to happen in flashbacks as Oyku is on a bus.] The doctor asks, "Are you afraid your father will worry?" Oyku responds that she's afraid he will abandon her, just as her aunt did when she found out. The doctor tells her that the bond between a father and child is different from the bond an aunt has. The doctor then tells Oyku,"Without permission from your father, we won't be able to do tests, and without the tests, we won't be able to provide treatment that will help you get better." He suggests that both she and her father come for the appointment at 10. He'll be able to talk with her father, and they'll all figure things out together.

Demir has informed Candan that Oyku is missing. She tells him she gave the doctor his phone number because he said it was urgent that he talk to you. Demir again says he thinks it's likely about payment of the hospital bill. He also mentions that he can think of one place that Oyku might be.

Todo por mi hija - #18 - p 3 de 3

Ugur comes to see Korkmaz. Demir has not come with him. Korkmaz shows him a picture of a vasija, that to me looks like a vase and that my dictionaries say also means vessel, container, jar. Korkmaz claims it's immensely valuable. He tells Ugur that he will have to take it and put a replacement in its place very quickly. If he takes more than 5 seconds, the alarm will go off and the police will come. Ugur assures Korkmaz that he can do this. He asks Korkmaz how they will get into the building. He's told they'll be dressed as security guards. Korkmaz tells him to meet him later to get the uniforms, and then at midnight, he must take the vasija. Ugur agrees and leaves.

As soon as Ugur is out the door, Korkmaz calls Cemal. He tells him that Ugur just left, but Demir didn't come. Cemal isn't worried. He's sure Ugur won't do the job without Demir. He doesn't have other accomplices.

We then see Asu walk into a liquor store and walk out with a bottle hidden under her coat. (I'm surprised that the liquor store employees don't recognize her as a thief. Surely this isn't the first or second or third time she has done this.) She walks a very short distance and then sits down at the entrace to a building and starts drinking from the bottle. I have no idea what the purpose of this brief scene is. A bad editing job?)

Demir tells Ugur that Oyku is missing, and he can forget about the job. He says he even called Mercan's mother, but she knew nothing of Oyku's whereabouts. Ugur suggests all kinds of harmless things that Oyku might be doing. He joins with Demir to look for her. Demir tells him he knows where she might be. They go to a park (the one where their tent used to be?), but she's not there.

We then see a listless Oyku, walking down the street. Indeed, she reminded me eerily of the way Asu often walks. Ugur and Demir spot her and call out to her. They come up to her. Demir grabs her and, obviously worried, asks whether she's OK. When she says she is, his concern turns to rage: "Why did you do this? Where were you??" He'll have to wait until tomorrow's episode for a reply.

Fantastic recap, Juanita! It was like watching the epi all over again. And you got an episode with some forward movement.

I think it's not only possible, but likely, that there were no birthday cakes in the orphanage. Probably most of the inhabitants wouldn't even know their own date of birth if they arrived as infants or toddlers.

I 100% agree that Demir being over-protective about Oyku's and Mercan's friendship seems odd, but Wikipedia tells me 98% of Turks are Muslim. Maybe Demir, while not seeming religious, is culturally more conservative about a daughter.

Maybe we could re-name Evil Doctor NSED for not-so-evil doctor.

I think perhaps the vasija may be an ancient artifact, which would make Demir being involved in stealing it an even worse crime. Not sure how Cemal plans to get Demir and Ugur caught in the act, if that's his plan.

This was a very moving episode. Somehow I doubt that Oyku and Demir will both appear at 10:00 to meet with NSED.

identidad2

It doesn’t appear that many are watching and/or offering to do recaps of the second season of Falsa Identidad. So this will be a brief adios from me.

It seems that everyone is back in Mexico. Diego crossed the border to find his mother. Amanda crossed because she hates living in the US and wants to re-unite with her grandfather, Mateo Corona. And last night Isabel was in the process of returning, with Ricas, to look for Amanda.

There was a confrontation of sorts with the elder Arismendi and his son El Buitre about the latter having had the son/grandson blow up a bunch of gasoline that was shooting from a pipe. Many people were killed or injured. El Buitre appeared to have arranged this as a message to the government that was interfering in their biznes. They are huachicoleros, people who steal gasoline and sell it to others. Diego, our male protagonist, was involved in this in Season 1.

Diego thinks his mother is likely dead, having seen the video that Ignacio Salas sent him, of her jumping from the van and hitting her head on the concrete curb. He's managed to get onto Mateo Corona’s huge property (to avenge his mother) but is caught by some thugs at the end of the episode. Or perhaps shot in the back. That was the night’s cliffhanger, but I doubt that’s what really happened.

Evil Ramona is violently jealous of Fernanda, Diego’s mother, and told her what her name was. Apparently Fernanda really did have amnesia, but hearing her name seemed to have brought back something.

El Buitre has always had a thing for Circe Gaona, and she meets up with him, for protection, last night.

Amanda found out her grandfather is no longer with the police. But she met up with some guy who, I believe, used to work with Mateo on some of his underhanded work with the police.

Deivid and Gabriela's baby has the usual telenovela very high fever. Gaby leaves her with Nuria, a drug addict last season. She swears she's clean, but steals Gaby's money from a hiding place in the kitchen and leaves the baby alone. Gaby has the doctor in and calls Deivid. (Whew!) I did not want Deivid involved in Diego's revenge plan, nor did Diego. Deivid was going home.

Thanks very much, novelera, for your appreciative and very interesting comment. I think you're right that many children at the orphanage not only wouldn't know about birthday cakes but also might not even know their own date of birth.

It may be that Demir, coming from a Muslim culture, might be more conservative about a daughter, but an 8-year-old daughter? I still feel that the writers are playing this simply for laughs. I admit I laughed a little at first, but ¡ya basta!.

Yes, perhaps we should rename Evil Doctor NSED, but I think I'll hold off for a little while. He seemed sensitive and sympathetic last night, but I remember what an a**hole he was in earlier episodes, so I think I'll wait and see.

I think it's quite likely that the vasija is indeed an ancient artifact. I didn't realize that that would up the penalty for stealing it. Whether or not it turns out to be such an artifact, Demir will be in deep mierda if he's caught stealing it.

It's interesting that Cemal feels he was betrayed by Demir, and that Cemal went to prison while Demir did not. What I find a little strange is that so far, Cemal seems much smarter, more savvy, and better connected than Demir, and yet Cemal got caught but not Demir.

And no, I too doubt that both Oyku and Demir will make it to the 10 am meeting with the doctor.

Many thanks, novelera, for your brief but quite helpful account of last night's episode. I didn't get to see the episode last night, since I was recapping Todo por mi hija, but I did get to watch this morning. In spite of having seen (and enjoyed) season 1, and in spite of your extremely helpful episode 1 recap, I'm still at times confused about who's who.

I was therefore very happy that El Buitre and his father had a moderately long discussion in which I learned or re-learned that the father had started the gasoline stealing business when he was booted out of an oil company, but the father is appalled at the recent developments, especially the fire that killed many innocent people who were there to get a little free gasoline. El Buitre is not bothered by the loss of life, and he accuses his father of not being such a saint himself. The father tells his son that stealing and selling gasoline is not at all the same as murder. Apparently El Buitre has a son who has also appeared in season 2 and is apparently more like his father than his grandfather.

One other thing I can add to your fine account: Ramona, Mateo Corona's wife and Circe Gaona's aunt (I think), met with El Buitre to ask him to save Circe (which, of course, is the very last thing Mateo would want). Ramona points out that El Buitre has always found Circe attractive, and helping her will give him a chance to be close to her and to be a hero to her. So in spite of his initial reluctance, El Buitre finally agrees to Ramona's request.

I'm still not sure whether I will continue to watch season 2. I'm gradually becoming a little more aware of the characters, but I'm more interested in Todo por mi hija, which has the additional advantages of having less violence and MUCH clearer Spanish, probably thanks to its being dubbed.

identidad2

I was so puzzled last night about Arismendi Sr. If they ever said his first name, I don't remember it. The actor looked so familiar. The beard, especially, confused me.

So I looked him up. He's Cuban-American. One site lists him as being new to the cast this year. The probable reason he looked so familiar to me is that he played the weak guy who took over when they put the elected president in prison in Preso No. 1.

And he had no beard in Preso. Thinking about it this morning, I wondered if that might have been a pandemic beard and they decided to have him just keep it. The scene with Buitre could have been filmed quite recently since they often film scenes out of chronological order. There was a long halt to filming the novela because of the pandemic.

Hija

Sorry so late.

Thank you, Juanita, for an excellent recap.

When Demir mentioned payback for the book, it took me a second to remember Oyku knows she might never grow up. You could see it on her face.

I really liked when Demir told Oyku not to apologize for other people’s faults. That sounds like good fatherly advice.

BM is a perfect label for Blondie’s Mom. And she certainly thinks hers don’t stink. A horrible woman.

We may have misjudged Dr. Ihsan. I’m hoping he will form a nice relationship with Oyku. And if he has funding, maybe Oyku can get the medical treatment Demir otherwise could not afford.

Asu is really on a downward spiral. I wonder if she will be around at the end.

I agree, Juanita, that the Mercan-Demir thing is being (over)played for laughs. Turkey is majority Muslim, but it is still a secular country. What I gather from the shows I watch, it is very conservative compared to what we see on American TV or on Spanish Language TNs.

I'll do the recap for tonight's show.

Identidad2

I appreciate what you have done to get us started, novelera.

First week and I've already fallen behind. I plan to catch up over the weekend. Maybe we won't have regular recaps but we can discuss.

Right now I'm enjoying the sweetness of Hija more than I want to see the brutality of Identidad.

Hija #19 part 1

Demir rips into Oyku, why did you do that? where were you? why did you leave without telling me? Ugur says calm down, you’re scaring her. Oyku says she just went for a walk. She saw a cat, it was hungry she wanted to give him milk. She’s sorry. We don’t have money for a pet, so I followed him. Demir is steaming. He wants to ground her. Ugur says they should calm down and talk about this inside. You don’t want Candan to hear you. He says to Oyku, you can’t go out by yourself. You worried us. Demir orders her inside.

Candan hears them coming. Are you alright? You don’t know how much we were worried. Demir continues to yell. You’re grounded! No TV! He wants to return everything he bought for her. Fine, says Oyku. Candan tries to diffuse the situation. She sends Oyku to wash her face.

She tells Demir, you’re scaring her. Demir responds, I’m the one who was scared; I thought she was hurt. All because of a cat. I almost died. Candan goes to leave. Demir apologizes to Candan. Don’t apologize. But these things are solved with love. No need to shout.

Demir and Oyku are sitting on opposite sides of the bed, backs turned to each other. She says she’s sorry. Demir lies back on the bed and says quietly, I thought something bad happened to you. Please don’t do it again. She won’t. Oyku cuddles up to him. He says, first you follow Mercan and now a cat. My heart can’t take it. She asks him if he is really returning the clothes. He’d like to return her, but he can’t find the receipt.

Asu is at the cemetery. She’s talking to her mom’s grave. Suzan Karahan. She was 46 when she died. Hey mom, tell me. Are you enjoying it? Is it better than this? Do you recommend it? I have news. You will be shocked. Do you remember you had a granddaughter? Her name is Oyku. She’s not here, I couldn’t take care of her. I didn’t want to repeat the story. She would have been in an orphanage or living on the street. She’s smart like you. She found her dad. Who’s her dad? Demir. They seem happy. My mother left me too, but I couldn’t find a dad. Oyku is smart and determined. That’s it for now. I’ll leave you alone. I just wanted to drop by. Goodbye mom.

Candan knocks on the door. She asks Demir to step outside to talk. Candan asks if he made up with Oyku. Yes, he can’t stay mad at her for long. That’s good, she says, you’re her dad and should get used to it. Candan has brought something sweet to eat, but Demir tells Oyku not before dinner. (it’s what a good dad would say. I think he used to say these things to just for show but now I’m beginning to think he sort of means it.)

Ugur calls about the Korkmaz job. Demir forgot. Can we do it tomorrow? No way, we have no choice but to do it tonight. Candan says if he has to go to work, she will watch Oyku. Oyku asks where do you have to go at this time? A friend has car trouble. Is it Ugur? No answer. He bends to kiss her and she whispers in his ear, don’t do anything bad please.

We see Ugur and Demir dressing as security guards. Demir feels bad he lied to Oyku. So what, Ugur says he lied to his mom. Demir thinks it’s not the same. Korkmaz gives them the fake jug. Everything is ready. Demir asks about the payment. Korkmaz pretends to be offended. An eye for an eye, he says. Do you think I’d let you down? They set off to do the job. Korkmaz calls Cemal. They just left. Cemal is on the way.

Oyku and Candan are enjoying the treats she brought. Candan wants to know the truth. Was she really chasing a cat? Oyku says yes, but she got lost chasing the cat. Candan says don’t do this again, your dad was really scared. He loves you very much.

Hija $19 part 2

Demir and Ugur pull up to the building. Ugur likes the uniform. He wants to keep it because girls like men in uniforms. Demir is very nervous. Who will take care of Oyku if we get caught? We see Cemal spying on them from his car. They talk to the guard. We are here to fix the cameras. Yes, he heard about the cameras and the guard lets them in. Cemal makes a call, he’d like to report a robbery.

The guys are inside and they look for the jug. Gloves on and ready to go. Ugur is getting sidetracked by all the valuable items. Demir starts to open the case, while Ugur babbles on and on. Ok, they have have 5 seconds to make the switch. Ready? Uh oh, Ugur drops the jug! (that’s what I call a lucky break!) Mission aborted! They must leave now! Ugur wants to switch for the broken pieces. Demir says no way and they walk out. Cemal sees them leave he wonders where the police are.

We hear sirens and the guys duck behind a nearby dumpster. Demir hears the police tell the guard, they were informed of a robbery. Quickly, they remove the uniforms and throw them in the dumpster. They drive away. Cemal can do nothing.

Demir realizes someone knew they were in there. Ugur says, thank God I broke that jug. He’s lived up to his name Ugur (it means luck). Our guys are not home free, there’s a police car pulling them over. The officer asks for their documents and Demir’s driver license and goes to check. When the cop comes back, he asks them to exit the vehicle. The questions start, where were you coming from? Why are you in undershirts? They start to BS about the weather, global warming, mom’s herbal tea, sore throats, It’s like a comedy routine. The cop is looking at them like they are crazy. They try to leave but the cop is taking them down to the station.

At the station, Ugur hopes that Captain Hussein isn’t in. Hablando del Rey de Roma… it’s the Captain. Why did you bring them? the captain asks. Well, they were near the museum and acting suspicious.

The Captain is questioning the guys in his office. Didn’t you tell me you quit? Yes. So, what were you doing there in your undershirts? Ugur starts to babble about the weather, etc. Oh, and did something happen at the museum? Demir takes over, he will explain. He’s ashamed to say this but, they were with some girlfriends. And you know how these things are. We argued and had to leave in a hurry. No time to get completely dressed. The Captain says, aren’t you ashamed of the lives you are leading? Well, the Captain continues, nothing was stolen and there was nothing in the van so they may go. Ugur wants to see Korkmaz but Demir wants to go home.

Demir forgets Candan is in his room and starts to take off his coat. Oops. Why did you change your clothes, she asks? He spilled coffee and left them at his friend’s to wash later. She tells him there’s a laundromat nearby. She’s going and will take his and Oyku’s clothes, too. He says maybe they can go together. Candan leaves and he says to himself, what are you doing Demir? Going on a date to the laundromat?

Oyku asks where he was. No importa. Did you do anything bad? No. Can I believe you? Why do you look worried then? It’s because of Ugur. Oyku says, dad don’t do bad stuff again.

On the way to school, Demir reminds Oyku not to go chasing cats or dogs. He calls her back for a kiss and he reciprocates. Oyku goes up the stairs but doesn’t go in. She waits for Mercan. He thanks for coming to his party; she looked very pretty. She asks Mercan if he can do her a favor. Sure, what is it?

dondi356

Hija #19 part 3

Next, we see the two kids at a public phone. Mercan is nervous he’s not sure he can pull it off. Oyku says make your voice like an adult. He practices. Oyku dials; she got the number from her father’s phone. They are calling the teacher. Mercan hesitates. This is Demir, Oyku’s dad. She can’t go to school for a couple of days. She’s sick. The teacher thinks Mr. Demir sounds strange. Mercan hangs up quickly. He was nervous. Oyku says it’s ok, that’s how my dad talks. He asks where she is going. She will tell him later.

Demir meets up with Ugur. Who would have done this to us? Jilet’s guys? What will Korkmaz think? We’ll tell him the truth, someone set us up. They go to Korkmaz and he puts on a good act. How dare they set up my men! They will pay! Oh btw, he has another job for them; he’ll call them. Our guys leave. Korkmaz calls Cemal. Ugur is clueless but Demir is on to something.

Asu comes to Cemal’s. She’s looking for a drink. He has no booze, but he offers her coffee. He wants to know why he should help her. She hasn’t helped him. That subject again? She needs money, not a daughter. There’s a knock at the door and he asks Asu to hide. It’s Candan. She needs to collect signatures in the building for her clinic. I wasn’t clear on why. As Cemal signs, Asu comes out of hiding and comes face to face with Candan.

And we are out.

Another wonderful recap, dondi356! You've really captured everything. Many thanks!

I loved your "lucky break!" remark! I must confess, I held my breath the whole time Demir and Ugur were in the museum. And Ugur just about drove me crazy. I was very interested to learn that his name means "luck." I hope his name helps him, since he certainly doesn't seem to be well endowed with brains.

I was a little surprised that Oyku lied to Candan, giving her the same story about the cat that she gave to Demir and Ugur. Her lying even to Candan seems to me a powerful indication of how insecure and fearful she feels.

I was also somewhat surprised that when the police told Demir and Ugur they were taking them to the police station, neither of them asked why the police were doing this. Perhaps in Turkey one doesn't ask such questions?

So now Asu has seen Candan up close and Candan is aware that Cemal had a woman in his apartment. I wonder how if at all that will affect Candan's thoughts about Cemal and his seeming interest in Candan.

Hija

Thanks, Juanita!

I held my breath, too, when the guys were in the museum. How would they get out of it? I actually said, “thank goodness” out loud when Mr. Lucky dropped the jug. Liked your comment, “I hope his name helps him, since he certainly doesn't seem to be well endowed with brains.”

Shame on Oyku for using Mercan like that. This is the second time she’s led him down the wrong path. Ok, he didn’t learn his lesson, but I hate to see him get in trouble. If Demir disliked him before, I can’t imagine what will happen now.

And I’m wondering about the consequences of Candan meeting Asu, too.

Cemal signed Candan’s list and put his apartment number down, too. If Cemal signed his full real name, will Demir see it somehow?

Fantastic recap, dondi. That was definitely a very exciting episode. Maybe Turkish novelas are different in that Cemal didn't appear to gnash his teeth and rend his garments the way Mexican novela villains do when thwarted. I also was perched on the edge of the couch when they were inside. But, clearly, something had to save Demir so the relationship between Oyku and him can continue to proceed. And the way they managed it, with Inept Criminal of the Year Ugur breaking the fake vase, was perfect.

Can't even imagine what Oyku has up her sleeve. Unless Demir is too distracted by almost ending up in prison to show up at Not-So-Evil Doctor's for the 10AM appointment.

My guess is that Cemal will introduce Asu as his sister to keep his plan going forward to steal her from Demir. I actually think this is more of a pipe dream than his other plans. From his skulking about he probably saw some closeness between Candan and Demir. He can pose as the perfect boyfriend as much as he wants, but if her feelings already lean toward Demir, it won't work.

HIJA

Ladies, you all are amazing! Thank you for the recaps this week! I binge-watched the episodes yesterday and we do have some forward movement which you caught exceptionally well.

I was so relieved the Ugur is such a clutz and dropped the vasija. And I too was surprised that the cops took them in without resistance from Demir and Ugur, but then with their track record, D & U are probably just used to going in for questioning.

For someone who is against lying, Oyku sure does contradict her own values. I really wasn't surprised tha tshe also lied to Candan; she knows that Candan would have insisted that she tell Demir and get some treatment.

And why didn't NSODoc not call Demir right then and there? Does he normally speak in depth to child patients without their parents? I'm somewhat confused with the timeline. The doc called Demir and asked to meet with him the "next day." Yet the next day is when Oyku went to talk to NSODoc and Demir and Ugur went to meet with Korkmaz. So what happened to the meeting between Demir and NSODoc?

It was odd to me that Asu was speaking to her (dead) mother. It was obvious that Asu, while obviously being resentful that her mother left her, is still feeling a need to share things about her life with her.

Hola Rgv Chick. I'm glad to see that you're still watching this, and doubly glad that you're commenting. I agree that, especially given Asu's mother's dropping her off so coldly at the orphanage, it's surprising/weird that Asu still feels the need to talk to her now-dead mother. OTOH, it's not clear she has anyone else she can talk to with any openness or honesty.

I think that the doctor called Demir and made the appointment for "the next day," but everything else that happened happened later that same day--i.e., the day before "the next day." Demir and Ugur get the security police uniforms from Korkmaz later that evening and then go on to bungle the robbery, get pulled over by the police, etc., later that same night. And Oyku went to see NSEDoc that afternoon/evening, soon after the doctor had called to make the appointment with Demir for "the next day." She wanted to plead with the doctor not to tell Demir about her illness when he has his appointment with Demir. And though it's not mentioned, it seems that Demir didn't keep his appointment with NSEDoc. The only thing we see Demir do the next morning is take Oyku to school (though she winds up not going in) and then going with Ugur to see Korkmaz to say they were set up.

I hope this helps. (And I hope what I've said is right. :-)   )

I agree completely with your timeline, Juanita. However, it's still possible that Demir could have dropped Oyku at school and met with Korkmaz before 10:00. So he might still plan on meeting with NSED at the agreed-upon hour.

Thanks for clarifying the timeline, Juanita. I need to avoid binge watching because there is just too much to process for this tired brain LOL

And yes, I do plan on watching this to the end. I really enjoy watching Oyku and Demir together. The other storylines are “meh.” I hate that Ugur keeps insisting that Demir continue with their “jobs,” but then Demir is doing nothing to find an honest paying job. He was pretty good fixing things at Candan’s house; he should think of working as a handyman.
