MARIANA #61/62

So much happened which is unbelievable for this slow moving novela. About six months of activity are covered.

BTW, has anyone noticed that the outside of the casino looks like Medieval Times? LOL

The miners on their new Lugo-Navarro land discover gold vein which puts the importance and prestige of the Montenegro mines in danger.

Iván snookers Atilio along by letting him win and win and some more at the casino. He has some special plans for Atilio.

Iván has managed to visit Atilio’s home during a poker match and identifies “Elisa” as Mariana.

Chachi is hospitalized for her mental illness. An unbelievably stupid Camilo decides to marry her to evidently try to cure her.It looks like he gets plenty of sex if nothing else.

Marcia has an accident when she visit her mine is a rage and ends up having a miscarriage. Her new maid Cándida assists her is keeping up her pregnancy charade. Her new problem is how to get a baby when the time comes for her “delivery”.

Yadira cannot take working at the casino anymore and the last we see of her, for a while, is her sobbing and wandering through the jungle.

Atilio is in constant pain. The doctor insists he needs spinal surgery. That is a no-go and Atilio wants a prescription for stronger pain meds.

El Cumache is still spying and knows that Marcia has lost the baby.

Iggy is working at a publishing house. He still thinks about Mariana and wonders about moving on as Lucrecia has suggested. Iggy realizes that Marcia will have the baby soon And will marry her as he promised.

Mariana a cannot forget the Iggy of her dreams. Atilio cannot please her.

Isidro sees bad times coming.

A 21st version of Yadira visits the casino and Iván is quick to notice her. She is clearly a changed woman

Mariana has a hard labor and is out of it when her son is finally delivered by the midwives. Atilio gives it to a reluctant El Cumache to kill. El Cumache does have a bottom line and he cannot kill the baby so he brings it to Marcia as the final favor he owed her in exchange for the money and jewels she gave him. Marcia’s problem is solved. I think I just saw this plot line and more than once. . . . Anyway, Lola has been spying, too, and knows what is going on.

Mariana is inconsolable when Atilio tells her that her baby was stillborn. It looks like she faints but her eyes are open. Has anybody ever heard of a hospital is my question?

MARIANA

Jarifa, "So much happened which is unbelievable..." Yep! This has to be the episode(s) where the stoopidometer went KAPUT!!! You covered just about everything. I was having a "lazy" morning after feeding the animalitos so I actually watched this at a reasonable time; though I did FFW during the looong monologues. Yadira's monologue in the jungle ran almost 90 seconds! Anywho...here is my take on the events...

Instead of shouting out to Iggy, Mariana tries to convince Cumache that it is Iggy she saw and to take her over to where Iggy is. He plops her in the wheelchair and takes her the long way around so that by the time they get there Iggy is nowhere to be seen.

Yadira leaves in the middle of the night and goes into the jungle in the direction of nowhere. Guess the girl just doesn't learn from her traumatic mistakes.

Lucrecia spots Atilio at the medieval castle (yes, I have noticed :-) but thinks "no puede ser, me equivoque" so keeps hush about it; then finally tells Isabel who also thinks "no puede ser"

Cam-idiot marries Chachi because she needs attention and affection; he won the Golden Globe Award for Most Stoopid

Marcia goes to the mine and kicks everything in sight until she falls and tumbles into the mine...causing her to abort the baby. And she had just conveniently hired a personal assistant/accomplice, Candida.

For eight months, Isidro's bones have indicated all is calm and just now sees bad times coming...and that's while everybody and their brother are now living in Costa Esmeralda (except Marcia, MaLola, Iggy's clan of miners and the cantina ladies).

In regards to Ivan going to see Elisa/Mariana, Ati told him that they were staying there at the casino hotel; so Ivan only went upstairs...or where ever the rooms are.

The one considered loca (MaLola) is the only one who is smart enough to follow Cumache...but then she always seems to be at the right place at the right time. Her magic bones must be better than Isidro's

I can already see Andy salivating when he sees the 21st century Patty Christmas :-)

I think Mariana went into la-la-land again. And Ati probably doesn't want her at a hospital because they are still in Costa Esmeralda and someone might figure out who "Elisa" really is (or isn't).

RgvChick, “the stoopidometer went KAPUT!!!” So true since it had to work way overtime! There was so much that was so ridiculous but better this than more goofy dialogues or monologues. Thanks for clarifying that Atilio was staying at the casino hotel. Yes, Andy should enjoy the new and modernized Yadira, I confess that I took advantage. of Yadira’s monologue to make a phone call. I wonder what plans she has for Iván. We should be hitting the halfway mark this week! Yippee!!!

MARIANA

I got busy, not with anything fun or really important but just with an overdue personal project, and I only finished watching Friday's episode this morning, I haven't yet seen today's. The summaries will help me catch up. Thank you both, Jarifa and Rgv Chickie. I'm looking forward to the "new" Yadira though I have absolutely no complaints about the "old" one.

Not a fun episode Friday with crazy Chachi being rough on her poor crazy mother and on Camilo and Yadira. Then the nasty engineer was very bad news for both Miguelina and, especially, poor Yadira. It was fairly obvious that this engineer was not a nice guy, but I didn't realize how bad he was.

I'm another one who has to wonder what's up with Oropo. He's been around a long time, there was a lot of talk about him, people mostly thought he was just a jungle superstition, etc., etc. And I am happy he helped save María Lola, though why he couldn't intervene earlier and save her from being harmed so bad, I don't know. Why he wasn't around to help Yadira, I don't know. Where is this guy now, and what's he doing?

Rgv Chickie, thank you for your kind thoughts re Yadira and me   :-)

Given some encouragement I could so be on a plane in a few hours, but the "Cease and Desist" letters from her lawyers are not exactly encouragement.

:-(

Andy

MARIANA

Oh, good grief! I see what you mean about excessive monologues.

Wait, Iván just opens her door and walks in on the sleeping Mariana? I guess he knew she was not a light sleeper   :-)

Camilo and Chachi should make an interesting married couple.

More later.

Andy

MARIANA

I once predicted that Camilo and Chachi would be a marriage made in hell. Well, not to start with anyway  :-)
Hey, I hope it works out, this might be the break Chachi needed, and Camilo could use a way to work off those big breakfasts. If Chachi actually stays this happy with Camilo the marriage could just work because it looks like she's bringing him around.
I am definitely rooting for Chachi.

Mariana giving birth in a casino hotel room assisted by house maids. And I suppose that Cumache managed her prenatal care. Why not?

Cumache with the rock and the baby, I thought he couldn't do it with María Lola either, but he fooled me with that one.

So he delivers a baby to Marcia just when she needs one, and María Lola just happens to be outside looking in through a window. OK.

So Yadira has a new "luke". I can't say it's actually an improvement, more like gilding the lily, hard to improve something already perfect. But OK.

This telenovela is so stupid, but so much fun.

Andy

MARIANA #63/64

Looks like

Iván has Atilio just where he wants him with the business deal.
the baby has reddish hair. hmmmmm
Everyone who is anyone is back at the hacienda.
Iggy keeps saying no honeymoon, no intimacy but then he is going on a trip with Marcia For a few days. ??????
Yadira has a great new look and personality but still hasn’t learned how to deal with young punks.
Mariana was like a zombie from the Walking Dead getting up after being hit and just staggering on. She has the zombie shuffle down.
Camilo is too stupid for words, he should have gone and become a priest like his brother if he were into so much self-sacrifice for humanity,

Andy, I never expected El Cumache to really brain Lola with that rock either. I was surprised.

MARIANA

These episodes were disappointing for me. I had hoped, probably unrealistically, that Chachi and Camilo might make a go of it, saving Chachi and leaving Yadira free for... Hmmm, I guess I didn't think that far ahead.

Yadira still looks great but no better than she did before and her personality change is not that wonderful. Jarifa, stupid seems to run in Camilo's family. Juan Pablo also passed on Yadira.

I'm still disappointed that Chachi and Camilo are not working out. I had hoped Chachi would level out and even reconcile with her mother. Maybe I'm just Covid delusional.

Iván is now ready to spring a trap on Atilio, but I'm not sure at this point who owns what. We'll see.

What happens now that Yadira has seen Mariana? Gee, these people sure do move around a lot.

Andy

MARIANA

Jarifa, zombie is the perfect description for Mariana, but even in that state she knows to push away “ el hombre malo.”

Can’t believe Camilo really thought Chachi had improved. How could he come to that conclusion if he has been catering to Chachi’s every whim?

Andy, I have to agree with you about Yadira; not much improvement and I don’t care for her new personality either. I’m just wondering where and how she was able to make all those changes.

And Mediomundo et all rebuilt the Navarro hacienda?? And it’s supposed to be exactly how it was before? How did they know what it looked like? And those colors were AWFUL!!

MARIANA

RgvChick, yikes! the old LugoNavarro place is looking like . . a circus tent!

Running commentary from me and my cup of coffee:

Yet ANOTHER full moon at the glade as Iggy decides to move on.
Yay! Atilio is still grimacing in pain (physical and emotional)
A character, in this case Yadira, finally does something useful with a sense of urgency.
Yep, Marcia does always getting her ow way with Iggy. The trip will look like a honeymoon to everyone else.
Uh, oh. Iggy gives Marcia the dead fish-eye look as she descends the stairs at the wedding.
Iggy is a bigamist and he doesn’t know it.
Yadira did well reminding Camilo that he is a MARRIED man.
Will Lucrecia the tumba remain a tumba in reference to Mariana.
Chachi is on the loose! Atilio should have fed her to the crocs.
Iggy look like he has never seen a woman in a nightgown before. Really? What did he expect? Maybe he wants another kid. He finally fights her off. YAWN!
Another Yay! For Yadira giving Chachi a second slap since having returned.
Cumache running on tippy toes was a real hoot!
They all left a disoriented Mariana alone in her room. Really?
Wow! Chachi got an eyeful. Camilo might as well have her hospitalized, too.
Another possible rape? Could have done without that.
Camilo is a psychiatrist, too, huh? At least Mariana is starting to remember and asking where her baby is.

MARIANA

Well, first, Marcia did make a beautiful bride, regardless. Ignacio didn't react much though. He and Mariana are doing the semi-catatonic bit because they have lost their true loves. And these must be terribly boring roles to play.

The engineer is one sleazy SOB. First he intrudes on Miguelina while she was trying on clothes, now what? Another rape?

Jarifa, "Iggy look like he has never seen a woman in a nightgown before." Well, don't forget he spent a lot of time in prison   :-)

Actually, that nightgown wasn't all that great. Marcia could have showcased her assets better in something else that still would have gotten an OK from the Televisa censors. And might have done the trick with Ignacio.
Nah, his strength is as the strength of ten because his heart is pure... I'm sure.

Anyway, I did enjoy some decent Yadira closeups which did my heart some good. Seeing poor Chachi melt down again did not; no happy, happy there. Too bad.

Andy

MARIANA

Saw a few minutes of this, just because they pre-empted ALBORADA for some stupid Tu Cara Me Suena today. Color me peeved.

But the main thing I wanted to say was WOW! Yadhira now is looking like the gorgeous modern woman we know Paty Navidad to be. What a transformation. Mariana on the other hand, has gone from vapid to catatonic. Not that big a stretch, but the result is the character is even more boring than before.

That was all I saw other than Iggy and Lucrecia reading his sad sad poetry. Glad you guys are sticking with it. Your commentary is quite interesting even if the story isn't.

MARIANA

Andy, Your comment “Nah, his strength is the strength of ten because his heart is pure . . . I’m sure.” even rhymes! ;)
That role of the insipid and “vapid” (thanks to JudyB) semi-catatonic Mariana had to be the worst. I wonder if Alejandra Barros had a big career after this. I guess I will have to look it up on Wiki.

Judy, at least the plot is actually moving along. It isn’t so bad when there is something that actually happens. Jorge Salinas still looks good. Andy seems to be enjoying the ladies. Unfortunately, the highlight of the whole novela was for me was and probably will be Isidro doing his shape-shift. Can’t beat that!

We hit the middle point tomorrow between capítulos 67 and 68! It is all down hill from there . . . Hmmmm Is that how long it is going to take Mariana to make her way back to Iggy? 😱 I need an emoji for “The Scream” .

MARIANA

"We hit the middle point tomorrow between capítulos 67 and 68! It is all down hill from there . . . " Oh, Jarifa, you are much too generous. This TN has arguably been going downhill since the very start   :-)

But I'm still a fan and, yes, at least partly due to the eye candy. You know how it goes, I watch telenovelas for the Spanish, the entertaining stories, and the eye candy. Not necessarily in that order. It depends on the TN. For me, LQNPA, was all about Ana Brenda Contreras. Our sorely missed Anita was also a great fan of ABC.

This telenovela has more going on so it's not totally dependent on Yadira, but she is the bright spot of any episode she appears in, and I'm glad Oropo's potion worked on her scars. Have we seen the last of Oropo? What the heck was he all about anyway? Just eye candy for Rgv Chickie?

Jarifa, I'm also glad you enjoy Isidro's shape-shifting. I'm a fan of science fiction, but not of fantasy or magical realism, but in this silly telenovela shape-shifting, scantily clad indigenous men with magical scar potions, whatever, they all work OK.

I was upset when Oropo first appeared, I was so afraid he would take Yadira back to her indigenous people and we would not see her again.

:-)

Andy

CITA (is taking a back seat to Reina de Corazones. But I soldier on, one episode at a time.)

I can’t be bothered to keep up with episode numbers, since I’m the only one watching. ;-)

Lucía’s TV talk-show interview began and her mother was in the audience. Maura had even bullied some lady out of her seat so she could sit on the front row. Then she proceeded to hijack the interview and the show. It was appalling. The people loved it. There is nothing like an obnoxious, overbearing narcissist taking over the show because she has to be the center of attention. Ya basta. If Judy B was watching, her TV screen would be in danger of damage from flying objects. Ms. Ruffo pulled off one of her famous crying-on-demand scenes.
* Andy Banda’s friend Señor FFWD told me it would be okay to zip thru the rest of Maura hijacking the TV interview. Thank you, Señor FFWD.

Angel had a blinding headache event and caused a 2-car accident. Today Viewerville learns he has a brain tumor. Angel refuses to get more tests or treatment because he has no money to pay for it all.

Lucia and Marcelo kissed. Neither is sure what that kiss meant (but Viewerville does). Yet he is still with Ingrid, although they have very little in common anymore.

It has become necessary to FFWD→ thru some of the secondary plot scenes.

OT – REINA DE CORAZONES

So much fun is this telenovela, even the second time around. Woot! I’ve even changed my avatar. And then Señor Google told me how to get closed captions on Peacock. Yay! Life is good.

MARIANA (Wednesday)

The great escape! So how did Cami know where to find Yadira? He was supposed to meet her at the casino...he must have followed the vibes.

I thought Cami "forcing" Mariana to remember was extremely risky.

Yay! for Yadira telling reminding Cami that he is a married man! I think she is my favorite character in all this mess. She's had some very rough time, but she's a survivor.

Andy, "Have we seen the last of Oropo? What the heck was he all about anyway? Just eye candy for Rgv Chickie?" That was like waving a juicy piece of meat in front of a starving animal and taking it away. Boo-Hoo-Hoo!

Seemed to me that Cami took his sweet time in calling Isabel about Mariana. Maybe he subconsciously wanted Iggy to go through with the marriage.

Ok, so Jorge Salinas is good on the eyes, but his inability to resist a woman that he can't stand is just nauseating. I know that he EVENTUALLY broke away, but he had plenty of liplocks and groping. Wuss!

CAN'T. STAND. THE. RAPIST! I don't remember seeing a TN (lately) with such violent rapes. Just horrible to even think about.
