Now welcome to page 1 of Primetime TNs/Series. “Médicos: Linea de Vida” is in its “últimas DOS (2) semanas” and things are getting more than grim, but Lila forges on weaving a brilliant quilt out of scraps . If some other brave soul(s) would like to contribute a recap or just some highlights for any of the listed TNs, it would be greatly appreciated. You can also add to or clarify scenes/details, especially those that are favs or not-so-favs. The TNs covered by this page are:

8PM  - Médicos: Linea de Vida (Últimas 2 Semanas!!)

10PM – Dulce Ambición

Coming Nov. 9th at 8 PM -- Vencer el Desamor (Read about it here)

Friendly reminder:  PLEASE put the name of the telenovela you're referring to at the top of your post so readers can easily find the conversations they're looking for. (You can shorten the title to one word, i.e., “MÉDICOS”.)

MÉDICOS #66, 10-16-20

Buenos! Buenos, Peeps! Hope and pray everyone had whatever kind of weekend they desired and that you’re all renewed for another exciting week! I have combined many scenes and welcome your input to YOUR MEDICOS PATIO!!! Vamanos!

We have a reprise of Regina on her couch in the twilight tearfully asking why she never realized before how Ana and David’s past stillbonded them. . . As night dawns into day, Art and Luis are having breakfast. Luis tells Art he “broke up” with Paulina: She wanted more than he could give. What about Susana? She still doesn’t want to see Luis. . .

Connie and Rene are at home, watching a viral video of the delivery al fresco at the Instituto. Rene says it’s just Gonzalo being Gonzalo. Connie say’s Gonzalo has become a Hero and wonders when Rene will do something like that. Never, Rene says dismissively, he has class! Connie says, no, it’s because he doesn’t want to get his hands dirty, he doesn’t get anywhere and now Gonzalo is all everybody is talking about! Rene protests that she doesn’t know all the things he’s doing! Connie thinks that whatever it is, it’s not enough! “You might be winning inside the Instituto, but before the public, Gonzalo is winning!” Rene grabs the underside of Connie’s right arm and squeezes and tells her through clenched teeth: “I am the Director of the Instituto!” OW! “He is just a poor doctor in the street!” OW, let me go! She gives him her steely Connie stare: “Do you have any media presence (notoriety) at all? Then you, my King, are nobody!” She leaves.

Carmen gets an unexpected visitor this morning; Pilar has come bearing memorabilia from Pamela’s life. Carmen is surprised. They shake hands and Pilar sits on the bed and shows Carmen the first lock of hair they cut from baby Pam’s head; trinkets from her first communion and baptism; the first medal of excellence she earned in school; the invitation to her Quinceañera party and a huge scrapbook of photos and mementos. Carmen is moved. Pilar’s point is that they have done everything they could to give Pam a happy life and protect her. Pilar hopes that now that she is in Pam’s life Carmen will do the same. Carmen thanks them for all they have done and says she would never do anything to hurt Pamela. Pilar says but she did, she abandoned her. Carmen’s hand had been close to Pilar’s; she pulls it away. Carmen has owned Pamela’s perspective and says no, to the contrary, she made a good decision. She knew she couldn’t give Pamela a good life and the sacrifice was worth it because Pilar has made Pam very happy. Pilar says she knows that Carmen has health problems and has struggled with addiction but asks Carmen to make an effort from now on the make a good life for herself, not to make problems for Pam who has no blame for others’ mistakes. “Help me to keep her as happy as she is now; do it for our Daughter.” Carmen nods and covers Pilar’s hands that grasp her arm.

MÉDICOS #66, 10-16-20

Rafa enters Carmen’s room and tells her Pam is in the OPC all day and will stop by later. Good news! The tissue testing confirms that Pam is a perfect match for the donation! Carmen asks and Rafa gives an overview of the prognosis for Pam: She is young and healthy, there should be no problems; the risk is minimal, no more than any other surgery. Pam will need to relax and recover for about three months; there will be necessary dietary changes and precautions about medicines, she will need to avoid alcohol. Carmen wants to know what will happen to her residency. Rafa thinks Pamela will have to take a leave from the very demanding work of residency but she should be able to resume her residency at another hospital with no problem. Next up; Ana, fresh from a review of hospital financing strategies with Rene; more about that later. Ana is pleasant enough but the bill she shows Carmen is shocking! Carmen can’t pay it; yes she has family but she does not want to saddle her Daughter with this kind of responsibility! Ana will get papers for Carmen to sign promising to pay the bill in installments.

David is in the OPC waiting for his rotating Doc of the day when Pam reports, late and breathless as usual, to her shift in the OPC. David is all business in a firm supervisory sort of way, telling Pam get to work without tales of her personal woes and no, she can’t stop to call Dr. Calderon about an important patient. David points to the ever-packed seats in the OPC: aren’t all these patients important! Get to work! Later in the evening and Pamela finally stops by Carmen’s room and finds her crying. Carmen’s tears are dried as she listens to Pam describing her busy day in the OPC. Carmen can tell Pam loves it. Pamela shares the news about the tissue testing; Carmen knows but becomes tearful again: she does not want to put Pamela at risk. Pamela assures her giving part of her liver to Carmen will make her very happy; they will both recover and be able to get to know each other and regain all the time they have lost. Pamela is her ever optimistic self as she enthusiastically shares a warm embrace with her bio-Mom but a cloud briefly flits across her face.

Alert for the tender-hearted! Pamela’s story and this next one are, IMHO, attempts to help people understand, feel more favorably towards and participate in organ donation. Once we see the handsome, young and strapping Policeman on his way to work, we know it’s going to go sideways. The young officer gets a quick cup of tea from his sister and a blessing from his Mom and he’s off to work. The young officer stops at a familiar convenience store for a water when some bad guys come in to rob the joint. The officer pulls his gun on the two thugs, one of whom has a mini saber at the clerk’s neck! A third thug sneaks up from behind and delivers a solidly sickening TWOP!! to the officer’s head! At the Instituto, Regina and her team make a valiant effort, but the blow has done mortal damage to his brain. The young man is intubated and taken to the ICU. Regina talks to the Mom and Sister, taking them up in turn to see him. Of course there are heart breaking sobs. Regina tells the Mom that the Son she knew and loved no longer dwells in his body; but there is a way her son can live on: through organ donation! The Mom is horrified and rejects it outright: if his organs are healthy as Regina says, he can recover! The Sister comforts her Mom and talks to Regina who shares the same appeal about the gift of life the young man can leave as a legacy.

MÉDICOS #66, 10-16-20

Hey! It’s Gonzalo come to see Alonso Vega! They are joined by Ricardo Bustamonte, one of the Associates. Let’s cut to the chase: Gonzalo tells him he has a theory about how the chemo meds got in Aurora’s drawer. The Chief of ER, Regina Villasenor, had a problem with the Head Nurse, Miryea Navarro. What was interesting is that Rene defended the Head Nurse that she would NEVER do such a thing! Gonzalo tells them that Miryea personally attends Aurora and, being the Head Nurse, she has direct contact with all medications. Ricardo looks interested and adds that she also has free access to Aurora’s room and agrees they have to investigate this Nurse! Alonso says they have to find out what is Miryea getting out of helping Rene. Ricardo asks if there is monetary benefit. Gonzalo thinks not, but he can find out. Ricardo leaves and Alonso asks about and offers Gonzalo support about Aurora’s cancer treatment. Gonzalo tells Alonso that although he hurt being expelled from the Instituto, being with Aurora and Felipe has given him the force and conviction to fight for them and return to the Instituto!

At that very moment Rene is giving Miryea a back massage and filling her in on their next dastardly deed. They are going to take medical supplies from the Instituto under the guise that they need replacing. They will actually sell this equipment, making a profit; then submit purchase orders for replacement items listing a high price but buy the replacement items at a low price and keep the difference. Daniel witnesses Miryea carting off two perfectly good pieces of equipment from the Doctors work/common room and questions her. Of course, she ignores him but this seems to make an impression on Daniel.

Gonzalo heads to the Instituto to see Aurora after his meeting with Alonso Vega. Rene is waiting for him and tells them they have to talk. Rene tells Gonzalo he can’t attend patients anymore. Gonzalo asks what is he talking about. The birth outside the hospital, Rene says; he knows Gonzalo did it to make “us” look bad. Gonzalo laughs. Rene continues that Instituto Doctors should have taken care of the woman and he, Gonzalo, didn’t let them. Gonzalo says NO, he asked for help but wasn’t sent anybody. “If I hadn’t attended the Senora, there is no telling what would have happened to the baby and to her.” Retreating to personal attack, Rene looks Gonzalo up and down and tells him he is nothing but a “civilian” in the Instituto and he shouldn’t be meddling in the affiars of the hospital. “No, no, you are the Director, right? When is the last time YOU attended a patient?” Rene says that’s not important. Gonzalo exclaims with righteous indignation: “It DOES matter but the only thing you do with people is to get money out of them!” Rene threatens to have Gonzalo thrown out an prevented from entering the hospital. Gonzalo says he can’t do that. Rene counters, menacingly, “Don’t tempt me or I will show you what I’m capable of!.”

MÉDICOS #66, 10-16-20

It is after this that Rene meets with Ana and briefly discuss the delivery. He shares his belief that Gonzalo was showing off and trying to show up the Instituto. Ana says the Mother should have been admitted to the ER. Further, Ana thinks that Gonzalo is being true to himself: not to wait for others when he can do something to resolve a situation. Moving on to hospital financing, Rene actually suggests more people be sent to surgery. Ana speaks up immediately and asks Rene if he knows the kind of trouble they can get into sending people to surgeries that don’t need it! Her goal is always been to do the necessary studies and look for alternatives before sending people to surgery! Rene maintains that the Instituto needs to make MONEY. The only thing Ana can think of is to have more Providers so they can care for more patients! Rene is surprised and disappointed: he offered Ana the position of Director of Administration because he thought the two of them thought alike! “Look, I didn’t take this job to take sides in a fight between you and Gonzalo! I am sufficiently capable of making MY OWN decisions and still give you the results you need.” I hope so, Rene says. It’s after this that Ana goes to Carmen’s room as described above.

Like a bad penny, Paulina keeps popping up. Let’s do this quickly. Paulina surprises Susana at home. Susana seems to have emerged from her blankets and the deepest part of her funk. Long story short, Paulina tells Susana to fight for her husband; she has lost her son, but she can still win her husband back. Susana is pissed at first but at the end of this forceful plea by Paulina, seems to be giving it some thought. Later in the evening, Paulina waits outside the hospital for Luis. She is saying goodbye; she has accepted a position in Chiapas. Luis is surprised she would walk away from the hugely successful practice she has in the City. Does he want her to stay? Uh, no, not if she’s doing so because she thinks there is a chance for him. No, she can’t stay knowing there is no chance to be by his side; let him find Susana and be happy by her side! They hug and she is able to part, mascara intact. Later in the evening after work Luis and Art eat dinner together. Luis thanks him for all he’s done and tells Art he needs to put some things in his life in order; he’s going to get an apartment. Art says he’s welcome to stay as long as he needs to. Luis is grateful, but has it’s the next best step to move on with his life.

MÉDICOS #66, 10-16-20

Okay, we go out kind of choppy: Pam tells her Parents at dininer about her decision to give Carmen part of her liver. They go ballistic! She wants to give part of her liver to “her mother” that woman that abandoned her in the church? She can’t risk her life like that! They won’t allow it! Pilar storms from the dinner table!

Clara has taken Daniel to her favorite place where she comes to eat when she has a hard day at work. Apparently he knows the place and wonders why he’s never seen her there. Well, she’s seen him before but was too shy to say hello. Clara’s wavy, lustrous hair has escaped the efficient work bun and she looks very pretty. The two are side by side but turn to face each other. “Why,” Daniel asks. “Come on, tell me.” “It’s that…I like you, Dani.” Clara punctuates her declaration with a kiss that is longer than a smack and enough that Daniel raises his eyebrows as he savors it. Then, we’re whisked away!

David is having dinner with Ana and discussing hospital financing. The government makes the biggest contribution, followed by private donors and the smallest portion is what patients pay. David and Ana agree that patients should not be charged more. Ana thinks they need to reduce costs. David proposes the formula of reduced bureaucratic costs, deliver quality services and let people pay what they owe without raising recovery fees. First step, David says, is getting medication on time is a key part of the formula and basic to the care people deserve. If they get that care, they will pay without hesitation. Oh, Ana knew David could help her! She feels so good sharing this with him; sometimes she feels so alone and she enjoys his company so much! David slightly rolls his eyes and curbs her enthusiasm, “Ya, Ana,” he says with a shake of his head. Ana says don’t misinterpret her; she knows he is still hurting from what Regina did to him but that doesn’t mean they can’t get along better, does it?

The next day at the Instituto, Regina catches a story on TV about a big fight at the Joint! Pamela comes in needing to talk, so she cuts off the TV. Pamela tells Regina about the whole surprising and dramatic story of finding out Carmen is her bio-Mom and plan to give her part of her liver and thus, to take a leave the residency. Regina is empathic despite her surprise and worry; counsels Pamela to think seriously about her decision. Pamela will have to reapply for residency the year after she has left. Pamela asks if she can return to the Instituto. Regina frankly tells her that she doubts Rene will allow it but encourages her to apply nevertheless. Regina tells Pamela she is so brave and so good; is she sure? Pamela nods and says yes, “It’s my Mama and she needs me.” “Ok, then, enjoy your last day in the ER!” They hug!

Felipe visits Aurora and tells her Javier has taken all his things from the house, did not renew the lease and they have two months to clear out! She is shocked. Felipe declares him a coward and egotistical. Aurora dissolves into understandable worry; why is this happening to her; where will they go?

Back in the ER Regina gets a brief warning call and readies her team! Lights, sirens, police cars and ambulances converge on the Instituto. A 40 year old in a neck brace has a head injury sustained in a fight. Seeing the police present, Regina orders Art to activate the security protocol. It’s El Ciego and his shyster lawyer, Sergio barks at Regina not to do it. She says they have to! “First, you attend to my client and if he gets worse I am going to blame YOU for what happens!” Cara impactada de Regina!

Will Regina learn what it means to be provoked?

Will she come to understand the value of acting on gut instinct, being visceral, when situations unexpectedly fall outside the neat lines of protocol? STAY TUNED!!

Great recap, as always LILA. You are brightening up a cold, rainy day here. And I'll be out on my driveway soon with son-in-law and grandson as he zooms down it in his firetruck. Dad always manages to stop him before he whizzes into the street. But it's touch and go!

Enjoyed your Paulina quip: ...she is able to part, mascara intact.

And loved this:

Clara punctuates her declaration with a kiss that is longer than a smack and enough that Daniel raises his eyebrows as he savors it. Then, we’re whisked away!

Clara did look fetching with her hair down, and evidently has decided she'll have to take the lead with this romance-novice if anything is going to happen. You go Clara!

I had mixed feelings about Pilar's visit to Carmen. On the one hand, it seemed sweet and thoughtful, on the other hand it was clearly a threat-DO NOT MESS UP MY DAUGHTER'S LIFE. Wasn't it enough that you abandoned her in the first place?! Are you going to hurt her more now!?

Again, understandable, but not all sweetness and light for sure. I did get a kick out of Make Up department yellowing Carmen's teeth. Usually they're gleaming white as are all the actors, but they overdid it a bit I thought.

Although René and Mireya's latest antics are infuriating, I like that the clues are piling up as to their malfeasance. Would like to see a blockbuster finale on those two.

And the stage is certainly set for Aurora (if she lives) and her son to end up back at Gonzalo's home. Which is great. Happy ending on that score at least.

Thanks LILA, and wishing you every kind of Happy Ending to every kind of problem or glitch, you hard-working lady. You've made the Patio warm and sunny every day.

I was kinda surprised that Pilar in particular was upset about Pam donating part of her liver to
Carmen especially after showing kindness to Carmen by visiting her and sharing photos of Pam’s childhood with her. If Pam is there and willing to do it they don’t have to wait even longer for another donor to show up.

Even though Susana doesn’t know that Paulina is leaving it says a lot what Paulina did by going to talk to her. Whatever feelings Paulina has towards Luis she is stepping aside and encouraging Susana to reconcile with him. Hopefully Susana realizes she needs Luis.

The scene with Rene and Connie was funny. Rene might have the power but it’s Gonzalo who is still getting all of the attention and credit. I’m sure Rene will take advantage of having a high profile patient, El Ciego, at the instituto. But hopefully Alonso and Ricardo can prove that Mireya is doing Rene’s dirty work when it comes to the issue with Aurora.

I forgot to say thank you, Lila, once again for a great recap!

MEDICOS

Lila, a brilliantly woven piece of work, thank you!"

I was a bit ambivalent about Pilar's visit to Carmen. I really thought she was going to ask Carmen to stay away from Pam. OTOH, is Pilar trying to "guilt" Carmen into disappearing from Pam's life again? Will this plus her conversation with Rafa lead Carmen to sneak out of the hospital and disappear.

I am also worried about Pam. She is so excited about donating some of her liver to Carmen. In the previous episode, Rafa warned Pam about all the risks of the surgery, but she just blew it off and walked away. I am pleading with the TN Gods t onot allow anything bad happen to Pam or Carmen.

Wowsers, what a turn-around Paulina made! After all that begging, stalking and smothering, she did her best to make sure Susana seeks out Luis and is now leaving so that Luis can be happy. Now THAT is love!

What the heck is David doing having dinner with Ana?! UGHHH! He's too smart to not realize that he is feeding into her manipulations and raising her hopes. Not that she needs much!

Oh gee, I wonder where Aurora and Javier will live now. Javier is a total jerk (to put it mildly), but Gonzalo will be ecstatic if and when they go live with him.

MEDICOS

Judy, "Pilar's visit to Carmen...it was clearly a threat-DO NOT MESS UP MY DAUGHTER'S LIFE. Yess! I got that too!

Oh I forgot...the storyline of the cop who is brain dead...could he be saving Pam from having to undergo surgery??? I hope so!

Keeping my fingers crossed for Luis and Clara! Tania can go find someone else ;-)

MÉDICOS #67 10-19-20

Gracias!!!! JudyB, Amiga Mia. Clara was SO PRETTY! I'll go with what we saw, but it sure felt we missed something! Oh well; I'm happy! It looks like Clara wasn't afraid to make a move! I hope Tania doesn't get ugly and confront this sweet young woman. I bet though that she will surprise us how she defends her heart!

JudyB, I think you nailed this. It's exactly how it felt to me:

I had mixed feelings about Pilar's visit to Carmen. On the one hand, it seemed sweet and thoughtful, on the other hand it was clearly a threat-DO NOT MESS UP MY DAUGHTER'S LIFE. Wasn't it enough that you abandoned her in the first place?! Are you going to hurt her more now!?

ITA, JudyB! Gonzalo is surely going to take Aurora and Felipe in! No doubt about it!

Muchisimas Gracias, Judy! Hang on, I feel like it's gonna be a heckovaweek and we need you, Amiga!

DARN IT. EVERY SINGLE SEGMENT OF THIS RECAP IS MISLABLED! SORRY!!

SHOULD BE MÉDICOS #67 10-19-20

MÉDICOS #67 10-19-20

Hi, TF!!! Yah, if you look at Pilar's visit through the lenses JudyB presented, Pilar's reaction makes sense. I hear ya, though. And how old is Pam. I'm sure she can make this decision and follow through without their permission, but I'm sure Pam wanted their blessing! Bad scene!!

TF, I wonder how Susana and Luis will get together. Will Susana reach out after Paulina put something on her mind? I know Luis will welcome her no matter how she presents herself back to him. We'll see.

Hey, TF, thanks, I hadn't thought of this:

I’m sure Rene will take advantage of having a high profile patient, El Ciego, at the instituto

And, oh yea, Alonso and Ricardo are going to out Rene and Miryea! I just wonder how much dirt we'll see revealed before the finale? This is going to be good!

I was doing some math. Not counting the 2 hour Gran Final, there are 9 episodes left. BUT since the presidential debate is preempting all primetime shows, there are only EIGHT days left to air the episodes. Conclusion: two episodes will be sliced into one OR two episodes will be aired on one of the 8 nights.

Third time's the charm! Having problems with Blogger!

Rgv Chick IS IN THE HOUSE!!! MUCHISIMAS GRACIAS!!! Yes, that was a double-edged visit Pilar made to Carmen, many of our Patio friends agree. Wow! I don't know if she meant it, but that was a masterful passive-aggressive act! Pilar can play it either way: I was so sweet and accepting of Carmen while Carmen gets the message that she's proven defective and better not screw up again! YIKES!

ITA, there are enough bad story lines, Rgv Chick. I'm hoping, since this episode seemed to really push to benefits of organ donation that there will be a happy outcome for Pam and Carmen, medically and personally.

Ok, fair. Like you giving Paulina some props:

Wowsers, what a turn-around Paulina made! After all that begging, stalking and smothering, she did her best to make sure Susana seeks out Luis and is now leaving so that Luis can be happy. Now THAT is love!

JAJAJAJAJAJ! You go, Rgv Chick, looking out for our David:

What the heck is David doing having dinner with Ana?! UGHHH! He's too smart to not realize that he is feeding into her manipulations and raising her hopes. Not that she needs much!

I think that's why they made sure they added that bit where, after she gushed about how helpful he was and how well they work together and loving his company, he was like, "Ana, please.." and kinda rolled his eyes. She asked him if he wanted some wine and he kinda nodded no but the scene trailed off. IF THIS WERE A REALLY BAD, STEREOTYPICAL NOVELA the next scene would be seeing his fine, half-naked body in bed with Ana with whirlpools in his eyes.

I DON'T THINK THEY'RE GOING TO GO THERE! JAJAJA!

Rgv Chick @ 11:05 a.m. Hadn't thought about this poor Police Officer guy being the liver donor! That's a brilliant thought!

Judy: I've given up hope on Regina: she never learns any lesson.

MEDICOS

Oh My, yes! Lila. I see MEdicos at 7(E) on October 22nd. I only look at "Primetime" when preparing the page, so thanks!!! I'll make that correction ASAP.

Médicos

Great job, Lila.

Clara’s wavy, lustrous hair has escaped the efficient work bun and she looks very pretty.

Yes, Clara's hair deserved a shout-out! Clara went out of her way to let Daniel know she's more than a buttoned-down nurse. Daniel, wake up. This is the mujer for you.

Pamela's parents reaction is realistic. Not only is the birth mother going to claim a part of their baby's life, she's causing Pamela to have major surgery and setting back her medical residency. They'll settle down with time. No one can replace them.

The young officer becoming brain dead after assault is so sad. But Regina was all compassion with his mother and sister in suggesting organ donation. By contrast, Ana showing Carmen her detailed hospital expenses was just cold. Rene would've been proud of her.

My fave scene: Constanza getting on Rene's case about Gonzalo being a star in the media for delivering the baby. She made Rene feel like crap. Good.

Médicos

I don’t remember exactly how Connie worded it, but what I understood after Rene said he was the director of the instituto, Connie asked if they had already made an announcement of his being the director to the media.. is that right? Do hospital have press conferences for that kind of stuff?

I was really confused during the Pilar and Carmen scene.. I couldn’t figure out what Pilar’s intentions were. Sometimes I thought she wanted to share mementos to assure Carmen she had done the right thing by giving up Pam, and other times I felt like she was trying to guilt Carmen.. I couldn’t make out anything from Pilar’s facial expressions either

There was a scene with David and Pam in the OPC, what?! I totally missed it haha. I’ll have to go back and see it.. I imagine when I fast-forwarded through commercials I forwarded too much lol. Oops!

The Rene deal with the equipment.. I didn’t quite understand. Is the replacement equipment going to be new equipment that the instituto will be purchasing at an inflated price, or is the “new” equipment going to be used? If it’s the latter, they will probably have all kinds of issues with equipment malfunctioning, yikes!

Did anyone else find it odd that when el ciego arrived at the instituto his lawyer was there with him in the ambulance? if his injuries were serious enough that he had to be transported by ambulance, then why would they stop by to pick up his lawyer? Lol

Thanks for the recap Lila! And for filling in scenes I didn’t even know I had missed lol

MEDICOS

Lila: The episode was not quite as dark as we’ve recently experienced. Your wise words illuminated so many details. Our hearts are full of hope due to the tiny points of light now visible thank to your superb summary.

“Clara’s wavy, lustrous hair has escaped the efficient work bun” was lovely. As the patio is entranced by this charming creature, Daniel MUST love her as we do!

Daniel KNEW something was amiss when Miryea wheeled the equipment out. Gonzalo is now also onto her. Discovering them cannot come fast enough.

Persistence was not paying off for Paulina. Perhaps Paulina finally realized she will never have what she seeks. At long last Luis realizes he must get on with his life. Whether Susana chooses to be a part of it is up to her.

“Rene says it’s just Gonzalo being Gonzalo”. And there is the heart of it. Courage and kindness. Emotions and characteristics that are simply beyond the realm of Rene’s understanding.

‘Aurora dissolves into understandable worry; why is this happening to her; where will they go?” Hmmm, now where could they POSSIBLY go? 😊

“Once we see the handsome, young and strapping Policeman on his way to work, we know it’s going to go sideways”. That was terrible. Truly. Agree Niecie, Ana and Regina have such contrasting work styles.

Any chance the poor policemen’s liver would be a match?? Pamela would in effect be giving up her career for quite some time. Willingly but that is a huge sacrifice for her to make. One of several.

Rgv Chick, ambivalent was a perfect word to describe my feelings about Pilar’s visit to Carmen. I agree with you and Judy. I think Pilar’s heart is in the right place. She graciously shared cherished memories of Pamela growing up. Yet, she was outspoken in that she doesn’t want Pamela hurt. Part embrace. Part pushing away.

And I think any parent of a child planning to donate part of their liver would be concerned. But this particular case does strain understanding from Pilar’s perspective. Pamela would be donating to a birth mother whom the other mother perceives as having abandoned her child.

Judy, I also noticed Cynthia Klitbo’s yellow teeth! A bit overdone but a nice touch.

Marvelous Lila. Thank you, thank you!

Diana

Lila than you for your devotion to bringi us a detailed recap of e ery episode. This episode was filled witb so much ..the good, the bad, and the ug!y. Your recaps and all tbe comments that tbey generate are great.

“I've given up hope on Regina: she never learns any lesson.”

Hahahahaha Steve!! I didn’t want to say it, but I agree! Lol

The policeman case - I had assumed he would be the organ donor that would donate a heart to Flor (who Arturo had PROMISED they would get her a heart), but you guys are right, he could also donate his liver to Carmen

MÉDICOS #67 10-19-20

Whoa! Imagine, people wanting you to do stuff in exchange for a paycheck! Sheesh!

Hey, Niecie, Welcome and Thank you!!!!

Thank you, Niecie: This is a VERY reasonable assessment!

Pamela's parents reaction is realistic. Not only is the birth mother going to claim a part of their baby's life, she's causing Pamela to have major surgery and setting back her medical residency. They'll settle down with time. No one can replace them.

And yes, nice contrast between Regina and Ana dealing with a patient and family member!

My fave scene: Constanza getting on Rene's case about Gonzalo being a star in the media for delivering the baby. She made Rene feel like crap. Good.

NAN NA NAN NA BOO BOO! Yah, that WAS great!

MÉDICOS #67 10-19-20

Hey, UnOp!!! Yes, you remember correctly, or rather you understood the Spanish better! Thank you for this correction!

I don’t remember exactly how Connie worded it, but what I understood after Rene said he was the director of the instituto, Connie asked if they had already made an announcement of his being the director to the media.. is that right? Do hospital have press conferences for that kind of stuff?

And UnOp, I totally understand your confusion because that WAS a double-edged comment. Whether she meant it or not, I'll cut her some slack because I think Niecie made a great point above about Pam's Parents reaction. I can see Pilar wanting to be nice and civil and reach out to the woman who made Pam's very existence and presence in their lives possible, but I can see her wanting to check this woman out; judge if she was a danger to Pamela AND let this woman know that Pamela is loved and protected. I remember now that Pilar and Augustin made that promise to each other!

Re the equipment, it IS confusing. They are going to sell perfectly good equipment but the Instituto will think it was recycled or something because it was not working/useless. Then, they are going to submit purchase orders to buy expensive new equipment, but they are really going to buy used equipment that looks new and which can only be detected by technical analysis as used. They will pay rock bottom for this used equipment but be paid the higher price on the purchase orders and keep the difference. Those two dudes Rene met with the day before specialize in this. Plus, they get a kick back from the used equipment dudes. Yah. It's crooked and confusing?

Did anyone else find it odd that when el ciego arrived at the instituto his lawyer was there with him in the ambulance? if his injuries were serious enough that he had to be transported by ambulance, then why would they stop by to pick up his lawyer? Lol

Beause they're crooked and he's not hurt! This was the plan that the shyster lawyer cooked up for El Ciego as a cover for him escaping prison and police custody and avoiding extradition! That's why Sergio, the shyster, told Regina NOT to activate the Instituto's security protocol. Regina had better NOT BUCKLE or be intimidated and institute the security protocol!! We'll see what happens!

GRACIAS, DE VERDAD, UnOp!

They will pay rock bottom for this used equipment but be paid the higher price on the purchase orders and keep the difference.

Rene will pay the used equipment dealers rock bottom for used equipment but will charge a high price to the Instituto's operating budget and keep the difference for themselves...get it?

This also means he's going to bring inferior equipment into the Instituto. The crooked dudes swore the equipment they buy will be good, but they're crooks for crying out loud! What could go wrong!

MÉDICOS #67 10-19-20

Ah, Diana, we made it through the work day!!! Welcome y GRACIAS!

Oh, Diana, I sure hope we see SOME justice before this ends!

“Rene says it’s just Gonzalo being Gonzalo”. And there is the heart of it. Courage and kindness. Emotions and characteristics that are simply beyond the realm of Rene’s understanding.

You said it!! And I had to laugh at your wondering where or where will Felipe and Aurora go? Aurora has forgotten and Felipe never knew how big-hearted Gonzalo is!

Diana, you and Rgv Chick ask the same question about the Policeman. Maybe the young man's family will give permission and he can donate his liver to Carmen!

No, Diana, this was not as dark as it could've been but I think rather exciting. Can't wait for tonight! GRACIAS!!

MEDICOS

Thank you Lila! My favorite sections from your recap were:
At that very moment Rene is giving Miryea a back massage and filling her in on their next dastardly deed.
Totally made me think of Boris and Natasha lol!

Susana seems to have emerged from her blankets and the deepest part of her funk.
That just struck me as so concisely accurate to describe her. Both the acting and your descriptions did I great job of her wrapping herself up and tucking herself away and now peeling off layers to re-emerge.

Felipe visits Aurora and tells her Javier has taken all his things from the house, did not renew the lease and they have two months to clear out!
I wasn't really around for the beginning of this TN. Was Javier always a jerk? Or was he just the relatively innocent second husband before Aurora was diagnosed?

I'm with Niecie: I had no mixed feelings about Pilar's visit and thought the JudyB's analysis was exactly what Pilar wanted to convey. She definitely seemed like a mama lion saying I will let you near my cub because for now that's what she wants, but I will rip your freaking head off if you hurt her! Seems normal to me :) Also not surprised by the blow up over surgery. My mom gets upset if I mention buying a friend a particularly expensive gift, much the less giving them an organ! I think Diana's captured Pilar's standpoint pretty well: not only does this woman want to take Pamela's time and attention and love, but she also wants a literal part of her?! Too much. I can understand her on that. That being said, I'm sure both parents will come around.

Rgv Chick-I hadn't even considered the possibility of the surgery having complications! Now I'm extra worried about this false equipment swap out scheme of Rene's--what if the faulty equipment is used during the transplant?! If Officer Hero saves Pamela from having to go under the knife, then at least that might be off the table...
I also just realized that Ana and Rene still don't realize Pamela is Carmen's daughter. Have they never before considered what would happen if they put those pumped up prices in front of another health care professional? Or maybe they were just thinking it wouldn't be a HCP from their own hospital, so how would they know. In any case, Pam should know and her parents will be looking at all details of this situation like hawks, so maybe this storyline will help bring about the Rene/Mireya downfall.

Wowsers, what a turn-around Paulina made!...Now THAT is love!
Yeah, that was a pretty solid redemption arc for Paulina. That is one storyline that feels like it's wrapping up pretty neatly for the end of Season 1.

What the heck is David doing having dinner with Ana?! UGHHH! RgvChick, you took the words right out of my mouth! Those scenes are the ones we wanted for Regina and David pre-breakup, writers! They are really skimping on the romance for fans in this TN! Lila, I totally agree that's why they had to show David wasn't falling into her lap. But I was still gnashing my teeth!

The yellow teeth-OMGosh, I thought I was the only one being totally distracted by that! I think it was worse in the two episodes before this. At one point, they felt practically neon!

MEDICOS

Also, I wish our heroes would better their arguments. When Rene started getting into Gonzalo about not being allowed to treat patients and the Institute, I thought he's get right to the point: the woman wasn't a patient--that was the problem! And Rene should be glad Gonzalo was there because if the mom or the baby had died or run into crazy complications on what is essentially his doorstep, he'd be crying buckets over the type of press coverage he had then.

It took me back to the previous eppy when David asked Regina how she was being "just" and Regina vented about Rene and Mireya and Ana being on her case instead of actually answering the question with the perfectly good reasons she had for firing him. I hate when they do that!

Hellashelle....ha.. "Boris and Natasha" ..that gave me a giggle. So does that make Regina and David Rocky and Bullwinkle ?

Susanlynn Rocky the boxer and Bull-"headed" maybe lol!

Medicos. Another superb, incredibly clear recap, Lila! I too thought it was very sweet of Pilar to share all those mementoes of Pamela's infancy and childhood. But was I imagining it or was Pilar being called Paz, now? Maybe just some bad closed captioning? I also wondered if part of Daniel's and Clara's date was cut. And I thought of another possible liver transplant solution. Maybe the operation won't occur because Carmen will lose her life protecting Pamela from the violent El Ciego and his henchmen. Too melodramatic even for a telenovela?

SpanProf Ooh, I was so caught up in worrying about Regina getting hurt, I hadn't considered Carmen getting caught in the fray! That would be a twist...

Of course, it could also be Pamela and then maybe the cop organs would be for her rather than Carmen.

MÉDICOS #67 10-19-20

Hellashelle!!! Gracias! Love Boris and Natashia! ON POINT!

Was Javier always a jerk? Or was he just the relatively innocent second husband before Aurora was diagnosed?

The latter.

Helleshelle. I'll probably say it again, but in terms of romance, WE WAS ROBBED!

YAAAAY! It's SpanProf, Gracias!!! Oh, the possibilities. Who knows what kind of cliff they'll concoct for us!

Hellashelle....hey! I see what you did there! ...perfecto.

Lila than you for your devotion to bringi us a detailed recap of e ery episode. This episode was filled witb so much ..the good, the bad, and the ug!y. Your recaps and all tbe comments that tbey generate are great.

Awwww, Susanlynn!!!! I am so sorry, Girl! How did I miss you! Thank you SO MUCH!!! Yeah, there's been a lot of bad and ugly lately. In ultimas, I hope we can get some pretty and some GOOD! We've tried to make the best we can out of this, Susanlynn, and you are part of this effort. MEDICOS PATIO STRONG!!!!

MEDICOS

Too job in the recap, as usual.

A couple of things:

1) Rene was named INTERIM Executive Director of the Instituto, while the investigation into Gonzalo's (mis)deeds takes place. That's why the Secretary of Health said there was no need for a press conference to announce it. If Gonzalo is cleared, they will return him to his post. That's also why Tene, Connie and Mireya are doing their utmost to practically obliterate him and his doctors, so that Rene can keep the position permanently.

2) El Ciego's lawyer is Carlos Ibarra, not Sergio. Sergio is Reg's ex. I think in a previous scene someone said El Ciego and it may have sounded like "Sergio."

Top job, not too. Dang autocorrect .

Geez! Rene, not Tene!!!

MEDICOS

Hey, Anon!!! You beat me to my confession! Thank you. I was going to post that I keep calling the lawyer Sergio. Anywho, yah you and Urban straightened me out on the relationships. I'm going to reference what you guys told me in tomorrows recap because the thugs took over the last part of our show, didn't they?

That pretty girl at the end is El Gringo's sister, isn't she? She now heads up the rival drug gang? Thanks, Anon!

MEDICOS

Oh yeah, Anon, and thanks for that about INTERIM Director. That IS why they're trying to get rid of anybody that is principled, "Gonzalo's people". Absolutely right! Rene is ruthless and definitely puts pesos before people!

MEDICOS

Julian Gil (Carlos Ibarra of PASL) has put on a little weight and shaved off his beard. Since his voice is not particularly distinctive I didn't recognize him at first, but when I saw him in 3/4 view I recognized him.

Carlos is like Rene: He's all about the money. That was why he was never hired at Vega y Asociados. When he kept on pursuing Alejandra and ignored the fact that she would never take him back that overrode any sympathy I could ever have had for him. The client he is now trying to help escape the law is the one who shot and killed Alejandra, but he doesn't seem to know that yet. He was also responsible for kidnapping Jaime, Alejandra's dad. Since Carlos put up the ransom money to get Jaime released, El Ciego has also stolen back at least part of the commission he paid Carlos for laundering his dirty money. He must be laughing like a megapack of hyenas.

In PASL 3 he will have to find all this out. That is a Karmageddon worth waiting for.

Buenos, Peeps! Well, your Hostess had to do emergency surgery to deal with internal bleeding of PASL into MÉDICOS ! Thanks to Recapper and Patio Peep extraordinaire, Urban Anthropologist, and the astute yet mysterious Anon I was able to successfully compete the procedure. GRACIAS to both Urban and Anon!! If I dropped some stiches, Urban and Anon and others, add and correct as usual! Vamanos!

The ER gets its second celebrity patient! It’s El Ciego! Lawyer Carlos Ibarra tries to take command by ordering Regina not to activate the security protocol. “First, you attend to my client and if he gets worse I am going to blame YOU for what happens!” Without comment, Regina tells the medical team what bay to go into. Art accompanies her and it takes the efficient team less than a minute to determine El Ciego’s vitals are stable, there are no signs of bleeding or shock, there is just a little bit of blood on his face. Art and Regina look at Ibarra with the unasked question of why is this man here. Ibarra fills the suspicious space by yelling at Regina to do her work; his client needs to be examined! She tells him his client has nothing serious, he will be fine. Ibarra insists that El Ciego has a brain concussion, at least do a test! Art says they will do a panel of blood tests. “Ok, move it! Move it!” Regina and Art bristle! “You are NOT going to tell me how to do MY work!” Regina shouts. Ibarra specifically targets Regina, looking at her and saying he knows what kind of problems this place has had. “Don’t let me have to charge you with malpractice!” Regina stares him down, unintimidated but slightly unbelieving. Art advises Regina they should admit El Ciego to do neurological testing. “It’s a shame you have to threaten the Doctor to get good medical attention,” Ibarra hisses derisively. Art sharply retorts that he should leave the Dr. in peace! Regina tells Ibarra firmly they are doing their work and doing it well!

Let’s get nasty over with! Ana meets with Rene and reviews her plans to increase the Instituto’s income. It is the plan she discussed with David the previous night. Of course, Rene doesn’t see how timely delivery of medication as a part of more integral patient care will increase revenue. We don’t hear him present his plan but his next meeting shows how intends to increase HIS revenue. He meets with the two used medical equipment crooks. They give him a 600,000 Peso advance on his “commission,” and an incentive to keep sending business their way. “It wasn’t easy to find equipment that doesn’t work,” Rene says. “Oh, but you’re the Director here; they do what you ask, no?” says one of the crooks. Rene agrees. Hardy har hars all around!

Regina goes to Rene’s office to tell him about their new patient. He’s so “busy”, he doesn’t even look up until she says “We’ve just admitted El Ciego to the hospital!” “The narco trafficker?” She tells him they didn’t have much of an option because his lawyer is throwing his weight around and threatening to sue. She’s going to do the tests which correspond to the admitting complaint. Rene says no, we can’t do that! He asks her who’s going to pay for all this. Rene says he wants to talk to the lawyer. Regina stops him and tells him the only thing she is asking is that he heightens security because this is one bad hombre! Rene agrees.

MÉDICOS #68, 10-20-20

Ibarra goes to see El Ciego who says he feels much better. Ibarra reveals his legal argument if it is ever protested that there’s nothing wrong with El Ciego as well as to coach the idiot on how to act: “Cerebral concussion looks different in every patient. We are going to do everything we can so that the studies take much longer so you can meet with the people you need to.” El Ciego is pleased with Ibarra’s strategy but wants to be uncuffed from the bed. Ibarra says no, it’s part of the process. El Ciego, looking terminally goofy mockingly whines, “I don’t understand why the police don’t trust me!” There is a knock on the door. Ibarra directs El Ciego to play possum. It’s Regina. The Director wants to see El Ciego. After Ibarra leaves, El Ciego begins to take selfies.

Let’s do this dirt quickly. Rene wants to know who’s going to pay El Ciego’s bill. Ibarra tells him don’t worry about it; money is no object. Ibarra wants two things: One, he wants the status of his client’s health to remain strictly confidential. The fewer Doctors attend him; the better. Why? They’re at a critical point in the trial and any type of information that filters out could complicate his legal situation. Two, his client has a large “extended family”; he needs to meet with some people so the one visitor rule needs to be relaxed. Rene sums up the requests: You don’t want my Doctors to treat your client, but he can have visitors. Ibarra says if Rene offers him help, he can make an important donation to the Instituto. Rene pretends to be offended. No, Ibarra is just giving him “options.” “I only ask you to authorize the visits and to insure that someone of your confidence attends him.” Rene says HE will attend El Ciego personally. Oh, that’s going to cost. Ibarra doesn’t flinch but when he offers Rene the sum of 6,000,000 Pesos, it is Rene who reacts with quiet glee. Three million now and three million at the end of the deal. “Rene” and “Carlos” are now on first name basis and shake.

While this deal is going down, Regina consults with Gonzalo outside the hospital. She is glad Aurora is ready to be discharged but sad that she won’t be seeing him anymore. Hija, you are family, you can call me anytime! No, Regina doesn’t want to interrupt them. She knows they need him, but now she needs him, too. She tells him about El Ciego, that they admitted him to the floor for testing but it’s clear that nothing’s wrong with him! She says she told Rene but doesn’t think he’s going to do anything. How she wishes the investigation wraps up soon! Gonzalo agrees and promises to call Alonso. True to his word, Gonzalo calls Alonso and, of course, Alonso already knows all about it. Alonso doesn’t trust Ibarra. Gonzalo says one of his Doctors is going to report every second of what is happening with El Ciego. Good, Alonso says; it’s not the first time a prisoner went to a hospital so they could do what they couldn’t do in prison! They’ll stay in close touch!

MÉDICOS #68, 10-20-20

Ibarra goes back to El Ciego’s room and tells him it’s cool; the Director is going to cooperate; he can continue to play games on his phone in peace. Let’s leave these two dirty dudes for now and check in with another dirty duo. After Ibarra left, Rene called Miryea into his office for some of their disgusting dalliance. Miryea complains that Marta is bugging her about her frequent visits. Not to worry, he wants to reward her for the great work she is doing: he gives her the 600,000 Peso check. This makes Miryea smile but it quickly turns into a frown as he says the he wants her to personally attend El Ciego. Me? No! Do it, he says, and there will be a big commission in it for her. As Rene hugs her, Miryea makes a stank face behind his back! Later Rene has El Ciego’s chart in his office and asks Ana to review it without telling her who it is. She reviews the admitting complaint, test results and declares everything normal. Oh, he knew it; he just wanted to check with her. She sees it is Aureliano Martinez, aka El Ciego! She wants to know what he’s doing with the chart and why are they wasting time with this guy when there’s nothing wrong with him! Rene argues that caring for El Ciego could be good publicity for the Instituto; he wants the press and the public to know that he is the new Director of the Instituto! Ana thinks Rene is obsessed with wanting to call attention to himself! Rene thinks he deserves it! Besides, it’s a chance to let everyone know that they deliver the best medical care in the country! Ana thinks it’s going to draw the wrong kind of attention. “Rene, I’m telling you because I respect you. If I were you, I’d discharge this guy and stay far away from him.” I didn’t catch Rene’s response, but it’s not agreement.

Later we see that Miryea has roped Lili in to attending El Ciego! Art goes to his room to get the chart and Lili dutifully plays her role, telling Art that no one is to look at the patient’s chart except Dr. Castillo! Art goes to Rene’s office to see what the heck is going on. Rene tells Art that he has decided that with the gravity of the situation, he doesn’t want to chart and patient’s medical information exposed to possible breeches of confidentiality! When Rene tells Art he, Rene, will attend El Ciego, Art tells Rene what he’s heard a thousand times: Rene has not cared for patients in forever and does not have the experience needed! Rene replies that just because he’s been in administration for years doesn’t mean he’s forgotten how to take care of patients! He knows perfectly well what he’s doing!

The parade of visitors begins with a guy with a gelled mohawk, sleeveless denim shirt and tattoos everywhere. He seems as intellectual as El Ciego. He’s been a good boy, keeping quiet like el patroncito likes. El Ciego grins his approval. This dude is going to help carry out the escape. Next, we have Michelle, sister of the late El Gringo, now head of El Ciego’s biggest rival gang. Ibarra greets her outside the hospital and afterwards makes a call to his “accountant” to make a transfer of funds. Michelle goes in to see El Ciego who proposes that the two gangs make an accord to work together: oh, they can expand their market and it will be good for both of them. What does he want in return? While he’s “unavailable” Michelle will head up the whole operation. El Ciego, restrained by being cuffed to the bed, moves as close as he can to Michelle and eyes her with his goofy glare: “But if you betray me, there will be nowhere on earth you can hide.” This is our last scene and we’re finally done with the thugs!

MÉDICOS #68, 10-20-20

Rafa meets with Pam and Carmen. Carmen’s most recent studies look good and they both can be prepared for surgery! Pam tells Carmen she will arrive early in the morning to do the final tests and then have herself admitted in the afternoon. Carmen asks if Pam is sure nothing bad will happen to her. Pam says absolutely not; besides, Dr. Calderon is in charge of anesthesia and they will be in the best of hands! Rafa says he will take good care them, not to worry. Carmen gently places her hand on Pamela’s face and tells her with a tearful smile that she would never forgive herself if anything went wrong. “I want you to know that you’re the most beautiful thing that has ever happened to me and meeting you has restored my faith in life! Later Pam thanks Art for all he’s done for her and that she’s leaving the residency. She tells him about the liver donation. Art tells her it’s a great act of love. He’s sorry to see her go but he will be attentive to her and will miss her. He seems about to embrace her but she shakes his hands instead and jaunts away, looking back with glistening eyes and smile. The next morning Pam goes to see Carmen and finds Lili straightening the room, the bed is empty! Carmen had a panic attack during the night and left AMA (against medical advice); she signed the papers and left a note for Pam. Hija, please forgive me; I can’t affect your life this way. You deserve a better woman to be your Mother and you already have her.” Pam sits on the bed and cries, “why? Why Carmen?”

The poor young police officer’s Mother is deaf to her Daughter’s gentle insistence to let her Brother go. He is no longer in this world. NO! She’s seen cases where people woke up unexpectedly. Later, the Mother is visiting her son when Luis talks to her. In a highly emotional scene he shares that he knows the pain she is feeling: his son, his only child died in this very room. Luis suggests that she has a chance to not only allow her Son to give the gift of life to other people, but to prevent other parents from feeling the excruciating pain she feels now and that he knows so well. The Mother nearly collapses into Luis’ arms and they sob as she tells him yes, let her Son be a part of alleviating others’ pain! Later Luis and Luz talk to Art and tell him the Mother agreed to donate her son’s organs. Regina approaches and they tell her the same. First they will notify Flor, the young lady they gave the 15th birthday party to that needed a heart! Art says he will tell Pam that the young man’s tissues will be tested to see if his liver is a match! Art and Luz leave, Regina asks a reluctant Luis to do the surgery. He doesn’t commit just yet. Plans proceed to notify recipients of the availability of organs. A bit later, Regina and Luis meet with Flor and her Mother. They are ecstatic that a heart has been found but they insist Luis do the surgery. This direct family appeal plus Regina’s earlier vote of confidence convinces him to agree. He will do the surgery; they will begin immediately to make the preparations.

Art finds and comforts Pamela about Carmen’s unexpected departure. Pam cries and wonders why it was so easy to leave her! Art says she is a strong woman, she has gotten along very well without Carmen; look at how far she’s come! Pam says she owes it all to her Parents. Yes, they supported her but everything she has achieved is because of her effort and bravery. She hasn’t needed Carmen and she doesn’t need her now. Pam says she knows, but she wanted Carmen in her life. Art goes to the Regina-shaped hole in his head and sighs: “It’s hard to accept that sometimes that no matter how hard we try, there are some people who will not stay by our side.” He tells her to keep this experience in her heart holding on to what’s most positive in it and keep moving on! I know you can do it. Art touches the side of Pam’s face and illuminates her with his brilliant smile. Pamela thanks him and throws her arms around his neck and gently sobs. Regina enters and Art looks at Regina with an unmistakably sheepish look. Regina does not notice but focuses on Pamela, kneeling next to her chair. Is everything all right, Regina asks. Pam shakes her head no. Regina urges her to go home, relax and maybe she’ll look at things differently tomorrow. Pam asks if she can return to the residency. Of course! Regina never submitted the paperwork for her leave! More hugs and tears! Pamela thanks them both; she feels so much better! Pamela looks at Art and thanks him for always listening to her. Art kisses Pamela on the cheek and pulls her in to a warm hug. Pamela stands and hugs Regina before leaving. Regina looks after Pam with a smile while Art looks at Regina. Pamela arrives home and flies into her Pilar’s arms and cries, telling her what happened and showing her the note. Pilar tells Pamela not to feel badly; they will always be here for her! Pamela asks Pilar to forgive her. For what, Pilar asks. “I should have never let Carmen come in to our lives; I’ve always had the perfect family and I don’t need anything else. Please forgive me!” We leave them in a lovely Mother and Child reunion.

Aurora is discharged! Gonzalo gifted Aurora with some beautiful scarves as she had complained her hair was falling badly. Gonzalo learns that Javier lied about having bought them a house; that he was just leasing it. Of course, he tells Aurora that they are his family and will go home with him! Before discharge Regina helps Aurora with her scarf. Maybe in a scene we did not see she decided to cut all her hair off? Regina tells Aurora that she has never seen Gonzalo happier than he has been in these last few days with her and Felipe! Gonzalo, Aurora and Felipe arrive at his house and it is flooded with light in contrast to the dark, dreary scene when we first saw Gonzalo at home when our saga began! He tells her he has hired a woman to help with the cooking and cleaning and whatever else she needs. Aurora asks if he still makes his yummy fajitas! Yes, it’s the only thing he cooks; he humbly reminds her it’s her brother’s recipe! She thinks that would be a delicious supper! Felipe trots down from upstairs and happily announces his room is just as he left it! Gonzalo said he couldn’t change anything. He doesn’t want them to ever have to go back to the other house so he’s arranged for a moving company to bring all their things. Aurora thanks Gonzalo for taking them in. Gonzalo says, “I am so happy that we are all three together, once again, in this house! Now, Let’s see what I need to make those fajitas!” We leave Aurora and Felipe sharing a smile of relaxed relief!

MÉDICOS #68, 10-20-20 END

Other stuff. Rafa stops a crying Tania in the hospital hallway. She realizes after hearing Clara talking about having gone out with Daniel and kissing him that her chances with him are nil. She concludes he deserves to be happy; she will not meddle, it would only complicate things. She leaves, still looking distressed. Rafa looks after her with mildly puzzled pity. At this moment we find Daniel and Clara grinning at each other as she tells him she has completed some of the processes he normal does for his day’s work. He thanks her and invites her to accompany him to see his patients: they can chat along the way! Finally, Rafa and Cinthia sigh about what a trying day it’s been. Rafa asks if Cinthia has plans. Oh yeah, she’s going home, have a big ole bowl of cereal and go to sleep! Cinthia teases Rafa as he grills her about whether she’s going out with “her childhood friend.” He heard her make a date with him. She asks what’s up with him? He just wants to know if she’s going out with this friend or not! She doesn’t like him spying on her! Cinthia wears a playful smile. Rafa says he is not playing! Cinthia finally says she can see that, ok, she’s not going out with Juanpa. Sure? Sure! “Then, there’s still hope for me?” he asks. Cinthia retrieves her back pack, turns back to Rafa with her teasing smile. “Well, maybe.” She kisses him half on the left side of his mouth, half on his cheek and trails her hand across his face as she leaves, tossing a “see ya tomorrow,” as she leaves. “We’ll see each other tomorrow,” he sighs. Ah, the player is being played: Leave them wanting!

Médicos

Thanks, Lila. Another riveting recap. Lots of movement last night and I'm amazed you captured everything I needed to know.

I hope this isn't the last we see Carmen. She may feel she's being noble, but running out on Pamela is cruel in my mind. If Carmen felt bad about Pamela being her liver donor, she should've stayed and told her face to face. And as for Pamela apologizing to her mom, she has nothing to apologize for. Only natural that she would want to get to know Carmen.

Rene is in over his head. Not a spoiler, but I agree with a comment earlier that someone(s) will get shot at the hospital before this is over. Rene is a total greedy idiot.

Is Lili a dunce or what? She was too cheery attending El Ciego alone in his hospital room. So what he's got one wrist handcuffed to the bed -- hardened criminals escape and cause mayhem all the time (at least in TNs!).

Medicos. Incredible recap as usual, Lila! I'm especially grateful as our dog was whining to go out (thank goodness she does that), and I lost a few minutes supervising her outdoor excursion. That was a very selfless act by Carmen. I wonder if among other things she wasn't sure she could stay off alcohol and drugs after the transplant, negating Pamela's selfless act. I wonder if that's the last we'll see of her. I'll bet Aurora did have her hair cut off. Years ago when I had chemo for breast cancer, my hair fell out in embarrassing clumps, and my hairdresser (who was also a nursing student), cut it all off for me and recommended a beauty shop that specialized in wigs. I got a very nice one, which my hairdresser then fitted. I got lots of compliments from people about how nice my new hairdo looked.

Gracias, Niecie!!! Yah, the Pamela story is so complex. The gravity of what was about to happen hit Carmen hard! This was her first time being sober in YEARS so she necessarily looked at things with newly cleared eyes and the reality shook her: she was asking this daughter she unexpectedly found to have a major surgery and sideline her medical education for about a year...it was too much! And if something happened to Pamela, she would have lost her again. Plus, I think she did look at the impact on Pamela and decided she could not impact her life that way. I wonder if we'll see her again as well. I hope she doesn't relapse. I hope she'll go Humberto and get some training in being a peer counselor. Her liver? Maybe there's time for her to show back up - in ER - and get part of the officer's liver?

Uh, yah, Rene is a total greedy idiot for sure and he's leaving a long, thick trail of $hit for Vega and Associates to follow! YAAAAY!!

Is Lili a dunce or what? She was too cheery attending El Ciego alone in his hospital room. So what he's got one wrist handcuffed to the bed -- hardened criminals escape and cause mayhem all the time (at least in TNs!).

Yah, that WAS alarming, Niecie! Did you see how the creep looked at her with approval when she parroted what she'd been told to say about the idiot's care? Poor Lili!

MUCHISIMAS GRACIAS, SpanProf!!!!

I appreciate this valuable perspective:

That was a very selfless act by Carmen. I wonder if among other things she wasn't sure she could stay off alcohol and drugs after the transplant, negating Pamela's selfless act.

I think that is a part of the reason Carmen panicked. Thinking about it, though it hurt and Carmen's life is in danger, it almost seems there was nothing else she could do. Again, maybe she'll come back through the ER, SOBER BUT SICK, and can get all or part of the officer's liver!

Oh, SpanProf, thank you for your thoughtful and personal sharing about your experience with cancer. You are right, there must have been a scene where Aurora got her hair cut. The Aurora story has turned out to be quite lovely. I hope they let her survive.

Thank you, SpanProf!

Lila you were even more of a lifesaver than you know! Last night, my mother called me unexpectedly and talked through the entire episode! I missed everything except the first few minutes, so your perfectly crafted and well-organized recap is extra appreciated today!

SpanProf Thank you for sharing! So glad that you were able to beat it and are here with us today!

Uh, yah, Rene is a total greedy idiot for sure and he's leaving a long, thick trail of $hit for Vega and Associates to follow!
This could not be more true. He's got triple-sided fraud going on with the equipment, he's jumped into bed with a crime lord, he's framed Gonzalo for his position, he's inflating hospital costs and he's a general pain in the a$$. There's no way he can slime his way out of this hole he's digging. I think his being the doc assigned to El Ciego is really what's gonna raise red flags. Though he can easily argue that everyone's been dogging him about not having practiced medicine in a long time, I don't think El Ciego is the patient you want to start on if you're trying to fly under the radar. He might get the attention Connie wants, but I think that spotlight's got to reveal way more than he realizes.

Was super pleased to see Regina's non-reaction to Arturo and Pamela's embrace. If/when Pam comes back to the Institute though, if that potential romance gets underway, what are the rules? And if Regina has to enforce them, 1) will Arturo misinterpret it as Regina caring about him? 2) Will Arturo go over to the dark side and throw her relationship with David into the spotlight? 3) was her relationship with David technically allowed when he was working in the ER?

OMgosh--Maybe Lili's the one who's going to get hurt?! If so, poor Daniel! Things are just starting to look up for him!

Cinthia brought some serious smolder to her scene with Rafa! I loved it, but it's a little pathetic that it's the sexiest scene we've had in about a week.

El Ciego seems shockingly unconcerned with his business most of the time. If he's not posturing or threatening, he looks like a teenager, what with the selfies and futbol focus.
P.S. Not sure if you all discussed this in the early days of this TN, but what is the deal with the credits? One of the residents in on there that has totally disappeared from the rotation; I don't think I was even here for his run on the show (skinny young dude with wavy black hair?). Pilar is on there, but she's not really a central character; same with Susana. Isn't that odd?

Thank you for the recap Lila! And thanks for everyone else that explained the PASL relationships

Even though Art found it strange that he wasn’t allowed to see el ciego’s chart, I actually find that it makes a lot of sense considering that the media will want to know information. I am reminded of when Regina stood in front of the press and just started talking about the famous musician.. just because someone dies doesn’t mean the doctors can speak freely about their health, does it? Last time I had to get medical clearance for a job I had the hardest time getting my old doctor’s office to send my medical records to the doctor that had to sign off on my clearance. I literally had to go to their office, get copies, and drive them over to the other doctor’s office. It was a pain in the arse but, I understand them. I am nobody important, and there is nothing super important in my medical records, but I appreciate that they take those kinds of things very seriously. At the instituto, the issue of Regina disclosing information was never addressed. I also found it odd that she desisted in activating security protocols. What’s the point of having them if you don’t use them?

Not a spoiler, just what I think will happen... I imagine el ciego will try to get escape from the hospital and there will surely be a quite a scene with lots of police presence, shots fired, etc.. point is, I hope in the midst of all this, Rene gets “taken care of” lol

Lila, so much in last night’s episode touched my heart. I am so grateful and appreciative that you enlightened me in filling in so much that I missed. Your writing is pure joy.

“In a highly emotional scene he shares that he knows the pain she is feeling: his son, his only child died in this very room. Luis suggests that she has a chance to not only allow her Son to give the gift of life to other people, but to prevent other parents from feeling the excruciating pain she feels now and that he knows so well. The Mother nearly collapses into Luis’ arms.” My eyes filled as I read this. In real life, I would caution Luis not to do the surgery. Here, he must.

“Gonzalo says, “I am so happy that we are all three together, once again, in this house! Now, Let’s see what I need to make those fajitas!” We leave Aurora and Felipe sharing a smile of relaxed relief!” I share their happiness. Aurora and Felipe are back home. At last.

“I want you to know that you’re the most beautiful thing that has ever happened to me and meeting you has restored my faith in life!”. With all due respect to everyone’s opinions, I think that Carmen leaving was the most unselfish act she could do. She was likely just not ready to receive the ultimate gift – that of life, from a daughter she gave up and now who wants to give up everything for her.

Niecie, I also hope Carmen and Pamela do reconnect…

“Art tells her it’s a great act of love. He’s sorry to see her go but he will be attentive to her and will miss her. He seems about to embrace her but she shakes his hands instead and jaunts away, looking back with glistening eyes and smile” was just lovely. Pamela never fails to bring out the best in Arturo. If only Regina weren’t clouding his mind and heart.

“El Ciego, looking terminally goofy mockingly whines” was great.

SpanProf, thank you for sharing your story with us. God bless.

Today, you have bestowed hope on us Lila. There is nothing else more desperately sought during these turbulent times.

Gracias amiga. This was splendid. Every single word.

hellashelle, loved "Cinthia brought some serious smolder to her scene with Rafa! I loved it, but it's a little pathetic that it's the sexiest scene we've had in about a week".

So true! The writers have barely been throwing us crumbs...

Also, I believe the character you are referring to is Diego. A nice young man who stole supplies in a misguided attempt to help those in his neighborhood in dire need of them. He came clean to Regina and I believe she and Gonzalo were going to give him another chance as he was willing to work extra shifts to pay them back. But then reptile Rene got involved and fired him in a demeaning way in front of the entire staff. We speculated he may be back, but...

Unsolicited, "just because someone dies doesn’t mean the doctors can speak freely about their health, does it?" No. There are stringent guidelines and privacy is fiercely guarded in most medical circles...

Diana

Lila, thank you for another detailed recap as this story picks up speed as it barrels toward the finale.

Unsolicited..yes, I thought that Rene might get caught in the crossfire of El and The police, and thus, we would get to see the poetic justice of a baddie taken out by a bigger badder baddie Adios , Rene.

MEDICOS

Thank you, Lila. I just finished watching the episode. I wasn’t able to last night.

It definitely seems like a circus with the fact that El Ciego is at the instituto. I noticed that when Art left El Ciego’s hospital room, El Ciego opened his eyes and smirked. That gesture and other things in this episode make me question the severity of his injuries. Like I said, Rene is certainly benefiting for this. Mireya seemed genuinely afraid of attending to El Ciego. Makes me feel bad for Lili. And Ana surprisingly also seemed wary of the situation.

I’m actually kinda surprised that Carmen left. Where would she go? I guess I understand her sacrifice but I still don’t think it was the right decision. I also hope she doesn’t just disappear and potentially die alone etc. Although, it seems like Pam’s adoptive parents weren’t the only ones who didn’t want Pam to put her own life at risk. Pam must feel very conflicted that she wanted to help Carmen but then maybe it actually wasn’t the right thing to do.

The scene with Luis and the mother of the cop was sweet. He was able to relate her in a compassionate way and made her see her son’s death in a different way. He may have died but he also saved lives.

Regarding the sharp lawyers at Vega investigating Rene , Rene , like all narcissists, thinks he is smarter than anyone else and unstoppable. ....so....I am looking forward to his downfall as he takes Mireya with him .It cannot happen soon enough for me because Rene is getting worse and worse in his quest for money and power. I cannot stand looking at him anymore as he hurts innocent people with no sense of shame or ethics . He has no empathy for others, no remorse. Despicable.

Great work, Lila.

No way would any hospital in the civilized world admit a patient like this without having armed police outside his room and elsewhere. El Ciego has a longer rap sheet than what we saw in 180+ episodes, but what he did in those is more than enough to send him to prison forever in the US.

Mireya knowingly put Lili in harm's way. That should earn her a prime place in hell.

Yep, an escape is planned all right. That's part of tatoo-dude's role! I don't know how it's going to play out, but everybody in the Instituto is in danger! These stories have a way, though, of not taking out the baddies in these situations.

Wouldn't it be the height of irony if he got hurt, hooked up to his shoddy machines, cared for by Marco (is that pseudo-corrupt resident's name?) because the other doctors were fired/or on rotation/at Gonzalo's hearing or something? LOL!!!!

Thanks Diana! I was here for the end of that storyline, but I totally forgot about that resident! Poor kid. I hope they find a way for him to come back.

UnOp Totally agree! I was confused when Regina spoke about the singer too, figured they didn't think it was important to show us a scene of her discussing that with his kids. But then again, many people have pointed out that Mexico has very different laws from the US. Maybe HIPPA concerns are less of a thing there?

I also found it odd that she desisted in activating security protocols. What’s the point of having them if you don’t use them?
I was disappointed here too. Since she told Art to activate the security protocols to begin with, I thought she was going to tell Ibarra that she was treating his patient...and her colleague was getting the protocol started, so back off!

I also thought the writing was not backing up our heroes here. Ibarra was coming down way too hard, but Regina's reaction to the patient was very light to me. I've never been to the ER and had them spend 3 minutes looking me over before declaring me ok. Especially since El Ciego was giving appropriately confused answers ("Do you know where you are?" "The prison" "Do you know what day it is?" "I don't know"). I was actually pretty shocked that she didn't say everything looked ok BUT let's run some tests to be sure. I feel like that's standard for doctors, practically equivalent to "Hello, welcome to McDonald's" Anyway, she told Rene to do it and he agreed, but there were no witnesses, so God only knows if that will bite her in the butt later on...

This show has a weird way of telling us our heroes are great at what they do, but not backing it up, especially when it comes to Regina.

Hey, TF!!!!

I noticed that when Art left El Ciego’s hospital room, El Ciego opened his eyes and smirked. That gesture and other things in this episode make me question the severity of his injuries

You're right on the money! Last week when most of us met El Ciego for the first time in jail, Carlos Ibarra, Ciego's lawyer, came up with the idea to have El Ciego admitted to the hospital as a cover for him to meet with people he needed to see to take care of his drug/murder/money laundering "business" as well as to plan an escape to avoid extradition to the United States. He absolutely is not hurt at all. That's what Regina and Art could plainly see right away and the main reason Ibarra doesn't want anyone to see Ciego's chart and why he wanted no security protocol in place. It's all a ruse for escape!

Urban, MIL GRACIAS!!!!! You are absolutely right about the security protocol:

No way would any hospital in the civilized world admit a patient like this without having armed police outside his room and elsewhere. El Ciego has a longer rap sheet than what we saw in 180+ episodes, but what he did in those is more than enough to send him to prison forever in the US.

AND, yes, Miryea needs her hell thermostat setting increased for putting poor Lili right in the possible line of fire!

Whew LILA, long day with the baby today. Must be the reason why 80-year-olds aren't fertile. But now I'm home and ready to relax with your wonderful recap and all the fun Patio comments.

Like Diana, I thought Carmen's departure was an act of love. She didn't want to risk her daughter's health, nor deep-six her dream of working as a resident this year at the Instituto. It was an even more unselfish decision that Paulina's to leave Luis to Susana. So I'm okay with it. If Carmen had stayed, and tried to explain-- Pamela would have tied herself in hysterical knots trying to talk her back into the surgery. And would have been plagued with guilt if she hadn't succeeded.

Glad Luis was able to help the grieving family see the blessing in organ donation. Such a painful story. Hope that I never have to make that decision.

Loved this description, LILA:

Aurora and Felipe arrive at his house and it is flooded with light in contrast to the dark, dreary scene when we first saw Gonzalo at home when our saga began!

Amazing, isn't it?, how Aurora is becoming more beautiful as she recaptures her relationship with Gonzalo and her love for him. The actress is doing an excellent job of transforming herself, even as the illness and the chemo take a toll.

SpanProf, glad that your story had a happy ending. Everyone I've know who has gone through chemo also made the same decision. At some point, it just makes sense to cut all the hair off and go for caps or scarves. And the wigs they make these days are lovely. One of my friends opted for a platinum wig and false eyelashes. She ended up so gorgeous a guy hit on her at the supermarket and followed her home. Thankfully, her husband was at home waiting for her and that was the end of that!

I'm sure everyone has had a long day, but isn't it nice that we can always gather on the Patio to dish about this telenovela and share our stories. Love to all....

MÉDICOS #68, 10-20-20

Hey, Hellashelle. Regina and Art were a team examining El Ciego so, although Art actually said it, it represents their joint decision and thus the Instituto's decision to run a panel of blood tests and admit El Ciego to do neurological testing that one would do for the presenting complaint of cerebral concussion. It was clear to them, though, from the initial examination that the dude was fine. El Ciego was coached to act confused. So they are going to do tests but even Ana reviewed the chart before she knew who it was she was like, it's a waste of time testing this person, he's perfectly fine.

Hellashelle, what do you think about these questions at the end of yesterday's recap because these are the two issues Regina and Art clobbered David over the head about and these exact two issues confronted them with the sudden appearance of El Ciego and Thug Lawyer!

Will Regina learn what it means to be provoked?

Will she come to understand the value of acting on gut instinct, being visceral, when situations unexpectedly fall outside the neat lines of protocol?

I hope Regina reflects on this whole El Ciego episode that is far from being over!

JudyB, we needed some love and yes, it abounded in this episode! The scene with Luis was VERY touching and I abbreviated it because it was so emotional. But Gonzalo with his family back together. Oh, yeah, that's a story that wrapped up early for the finale!

Amazing, isn't it?, how Aurora is becoming more beautiful as she recaptures her relationship with Gonzalo and her love for him. The actress is doing an excellent job of transforming herself, even as the illness and the chemo take a toll.

The actress is AMAZING and so believeable! This whole cast is stellar!

Now, THIS, is a sweet and warm sentiment, JudyB, gracias dear Amiga!

I'm sure everyone has had a long day, but isn't it nice that we can always gather on the Patio to dish about this telenovela and share our stories. Love to all....

Medicos. I think I'd rather see Rene humiliated at a trial, with all of his misdeeds coming out, rather than ending up dead at the hands of El Ciego.

MEDICOS

You’re right, Lila. I don’t remember exactly what the “diagnosis” was but I am pretty sure I remember Regina saying that El Ciego had no obvious internal or external injuries other than the blood on his face or wherever lol but yeah with Rene in charge and him ordering for non emergency patients to stay as long as possible there’s clearly a lot of plotting going on here. Again, I just hope Rene is ousted and maybe even put in jail before this is over.

Susanlynn (3:17), you hit the nail on the head.

MEDICOS

Sorry, Lila, I totally did not respond to these questions earlier:
Will Regina learn what it means to be provoked?

Will she come to understand the value of acting on gut instinct, being visceral, when situations unexpectedly fall outside the neat lines of protocol?

Well, I feel like like Regina's definitely been provoked, particularly lately, but it would be good to see her pushed over her limit I suppose. Not that I want to see her get fired or anything, but it would probably be good for her character development to take the edge off the self-righteousness that admittedly characterizes her. Plus, the connection your bringing up with David's past behavior is a great one. Regina blowing a gasket might be the thing that gets her back on common ground with David and gets their relationship back on track.

And you're right, I can definitely see the El Ciego situation bringing her to that point of needing to break protocol, hopefully to shine light on the shady dealings that are going down. I am absolutely on board for that!

I'm still unsatisfied with the way the first scenes with El Ciego went down though. Regina and Art are acting as a team, true, but Regina felt dismissive and Art called for the tests after threats from the doctor, so it felt more like a compromise to cool the situation down than it did a natural decision. I think I'd just like to see more situations where Regina decisively shuts down a problem by herself. I dislike fuel for Ana's "this position is too big for you" argument and I feel like there's too much of it. Which may be a really unfair assessment on my part. Her team likes her and she does a good job. I know there have to be issues or there'd be no drama...

Correction:

I wrote "after threats from the doctor" above when I meant "after threats from the lawyer (i.e. Ibarra)

MÉDICOS #68, 10-20-20

Thanks, Hellashelle I agree, I don't want to see my girl get fired, but IMO she is almost contemptuous of David for being "visceral." Dagnabbit, sometimes people pull your chain one two many times or it comes down to self defense, but I agree with this:

Regina blowing a gasket might be the thing that gets her back on common ground with David and gets their relationship back on track.

It was so powerful how David and Regina connected when she was caught up in the zone during the hectic ER day in the middle of the Rene-induced heat wave and power failure! Blowing a gasket might do exactly what you said above!

I hear you here, Hellashelle:

I think I'd just like to see more situations where Regina decisively shuts down a problem by herself.

Yah, you gotta have issues! Missed my David today. Tonight should be good!

Oh yeah, I knew what you meant!😊

Didn’t Regina already break protocol by not activating security measures? Lol. Besides, this isn’t just ANY inmate, he is well-known for being extremely dangerous, and she foregoes security measures? It’s not like any of the staff has been shot and killed inside the instituto before! Oh wait... lol

UnOp Yes, she should have had Arturo continue with activating them, but it's not like she waived them. As soon as she got the chance to escape from overbearing Ibarra, she reported the need for increased security to Rene, which should be sufficient (and should make it Rene's problem, but, of course, it's Rene and there were no witnesses, so...).

Plus, the security guards did stay with her, Arturo and the patient while he was in the ER and wasn't there one stationed outside of his door when he got his own room?

Lila, just wanted to thank you for Tuesday's recap. Looks like several of us had interruptions that distracted us. I was waiting to see the episode before posting a comment, but never had the time, so I opted to just read your recap. Your personal touch is brilliant as always, thank you!

How sad that Carmen "disappeared" bt that was one thing I suspected she might do. I really hope the writers don't leave us wondering what is to become of her. Maybe she'll keep in touch with Rafa.

I'm not liking the EL Ciego storyline. Wish they hadn't meshed it with this. There are enough troubles at el instituto without having him there. The only good thing tha might come out of this is that Nasty R will either be brought down by the feds for helping Ciego or Ciego will have him "offed."

MÉDICOS #69, 10-21-20

Buenos, MEDICOS PATIO PEEPS! Well, let’s be very interactive today. Your Hostess had her own family medical emergency last night so I missed a lot and what I did see, my attention was divided. So please, fill in any parts that need fleshing out and pardon the typos! Frankly, the episode had a big Sensitivity Alert literally in the heart of the episode which I will NOT describe in any detail. I pray you all are well. We’re in this together! Vamanos!

Right away we need help from Urban, Anon and any other PASL Peeps to help with the scenes involving Carlos Ibarra, Lawyer of the notorious El Ciego and Michelle, sister of the slain El Gringo who headed Ciego’s biggest rival gang. Apparently Michelle and Ibarra are lovers. When she came to the Instituto she told Carlos she was visiting a friend when, in fact, she had come to meet with El Ciego at his request. Remember yesterday El Ciego proposed they join forces thus expanding their markets, power and profit. She said she’d think about it and she was coming back to give her final answer. So, I believe Michelle did make a pact of collaboration with El Ciego on the condition that he respect her as a partner, not his employee. So Ibarra returns to El Ciego’s room and finds his girlfriend, Michelle there and he Is NOT happy! What is she doing with this tipo? She lies to Ibarra’s face in front of El Ciego and later outside as Ibarra tells her how disillusioned that she would hide that she had ANY kind of association with this dangerous dude. Ibarra seems also to inform Michelle that he is El Ciego’s Lawyer. Ibarra says something about having lost Alejandra and now not wanting to lose her. As Urban said in yesterday’s comment: The client (El Ciego) he (Ibarra) is now trying to help escape the law is the one who shot and killed Alejandra, but he doesn't seem to know that yet. So, there’s some double and triple crossing going on here. Question: How in the world could a smart crooked cookie like Ibarra not know that his girlfriend was now head of the gang that’s a rival to his number one client, El Ciego? Did anyone understand, or care about the lie Michelle told Ibarra about why she was seeing El Ciego? Anywho, that’s all I have on that angle. More with the crooks later, let me share what I have on our Pamela.

Nighttime: Pamela lies in bed and finishes reading the letter Carmen left fading into Carmen writing it:

Pamela, Hija, please forgive me; I can’t affect your life this way. You deserve a better woman to be your Mother and you already have her. You found me in this hospital asking God for time to find my Daughter and to be able to die in peace. I was ready to die, but you filled me with life. It's a dream come true that such a noble, intelligent and committed woman is my Daughter. I'm sorry I'm not an example for you, but I realized that the best thing I have done for you is to be far away. I want you to finish your residency so that you can continue helping more people as you did with me. Seeing and feeling your love fills me with strength to move on and not relapse. I hope that one day you can forgive me for leaving like this. And if life wants, we will meet again. I will look for you being a woman of whom you can feel proud. I love you, Hija!”

Pamela sobs with the letter crumpled in her hands.

MÉDICOS #69, 10-21-20

David meets with Ana in her office concerned about some perfectly functioning items of equipment that are slated to be replaced with new equipment. She says that was Rene’s decision. He repeats, it worries him because the equipment is not broken. Yes, well Rene wants to do everything possible to show that the Instituto is on the cutting edge in everything. David concludes it’s typical Rene, only concerned with appearances. David leans forward and asks what else Rene is doing. David’s question seems to refocus Ana’s perspective: She says Rene is doing other things that she doesn’t understand but she’s going to investigate. He proposes they go grab some supper and she tell him all about it. Dinner is at Ana’s and we find him asking Ana who told Rene about the supposed broken machines that Rene replaced. Ana doesn’t know. David says it must be one of the Doctors? Ana says they can ask and why all the interest? David says it’s because he doesn’t trust Rene. Maybe he’s doing it to make himself stand out from Gonzalo? He asks what other decisions is Rene making. Ana’s tired of all the shop talk and wants to change the subject; she feels like she’s still in the office! David apologizes, she is right. She asks when was the last time he asked for a vacation. Ooo, let’s see, he says, over a year. She suggest they take advantage and go somewhere. We’re both single, we could have a good time. David says, well, it’s not a bad idea. Ana smiles. [And your Hostess is like WHAT THE FUDGE!!!! So this robotic David is replacing Random Chick with Ana!???]

At this moment Felipe and Aurora are chowing down on Gonzalo’s famous fajitas when we hear him ushering Regina into the dining room. She greets everyone and, of course, Gonzalo insists join them and Felipe hastens to bring her a plate. She fills Gonzalo in on the good news of the officer’s Mother giving permission for organ donation. The bad news is Rene is personally attending El Ciego; she thinks that’s very important and he needs to tell Alonso Vega. Unrelated to El Ciego, in another scene Gonzalo says that he will be meeting with Regina the next day to go over Aurora’s status.

Here’s where I need the Patio to fill in: Gonzalo does go to see Alonso Vega and fills him in on how Rene deceptively posed as his friend, gained the support of the Undersecretary of Health, organized a big fundraiser and then, suddenly, the medicine appeared in Aurora’s room. One very important thing Gonzalo realizes is the grave danger his entire staff is in with El Ciego as a patient. Gonzalo wants to know why they don’t get him out of there! Alonso says they’re trying to clarify El Ciego’s medical status; that is preciscely what Rene is in charge of, says Gonzalo! That’s it! Alonso says leave it to him. Alonso goes and confronts Rene who pretends to be unintimidated but later Rene tries to “invite” El Ciego to leave: Rene could get in big trouble with El Ciego in house! Nope! He needs another day and he’s sure he can make it worth Rene’s while: wouldn’t Connie like a new house, a big ole SUV, maybe some fancy vacations. Rene seems stunned that El Ciego knows so much about him! What else happened in the conversation between Alonso Vega and Rene? What other thug news should we know about?

MÉDICOS #69, 10-21-20

A good deal of this episode is one big Sensitivity Alert which involves the young officer, Rigoberto, literally and brutally struck down by thugs, leaving him brain dead and the heart wrenching process of securing permission for organ donation from his distraught Mother. The permission is granted and on the day of the organ harvesting, Rene injects drama by tripling the hospital bill of Flor, the prospective recipient of the officer’s heart. Rene presents this bill to the Mother, interrupting the pre-surgery instructions of Regina, Art and Luis. The Mother is alarmed and says she cannot pay. Rene says that the surgery is cancelled! Regina, Art and Luis defy him, telling him they will do the surgery and the rest can be sorted out later. Rene says he’ll fire all three of them, they say ‘have at it!’ He storms off!

There are very emotional scenes where the Mother and Sister say goodbye to Rigoberto before he is extubated and then Regina says a farewell tribute at a funeral of sorts as they wheel Rigoberto, who is bagged all the way to keep his organs alive; through the hallway of the ICU on his way to the operating room. The hallway is lined with applauding officers and Instituto staff. There is a too long, too graphic and too realistic scene of the organ harvesting and transplant. The operation is a glowing success, Flor came through wonderfully; her Mother is ecstatic and the Luis, Art, Regina and Rafa are jubilant. The grieving Mother and Sister are given a letter by Luz written by one of the recipients (Flor’s Mother?) of Rigoberto’s gift of life. They are deeply moved and appreciative.

The same morning of the surgery David questions Lili about malfunctioning equipment. Neither she nor the other Nurses have reported any broken equipment: to the contrary, everything works fine. David thanks her. Ana meets with Rene about the defiant trio and she convinces him that it would be a bad move to fire all three. We hear the deal when Ana presents it to Regina, Art and Luis after the surgery. Ana doesn’t care about explanations; she just wants them to know they are under administrative warning and sanction. The three openly laugh, their arms folded in front of them as they listen to their punishment: The three of them will be responsible for the cost of the heart transplant surgery and none of them is to do any surgeries for a week! They are unfazed, Regina says fine and, with a big, sarcastic smile asks who is going to do operations. When she says David, the smiles are wiped off and the amusement is replaced with anger! Art says it’s not fair! Ana essentially blows all their arguments out of the water. They should stop complaining; Rene wanted to fire them! They should be grateful that she convinced him not to! Gonzalo is not there anymore to defend them! Their days of doing whatever they want is over! Rene’s got the mojo and the say-so and they had best respect it! Ana flings the mic in their faces and leaves!

MÉDICOS #69, 10-21-20

David calls Gonzalo with the preliminary results of his investigation. Things are going from bad to worse. Rene is handling things in a way very different than Gonzalo would and David has absolutely no confidence in Rene. David tells him about the replacement of perfectly functioning equipment. They don’t know why Rene is doing this but David thinks it’s suspicious when Rene is always talking about saving the Institute money. David and Gonzalo agree they have to find out exactly what he’s doing and why. Gonzalo wants David to watch everything Rene does so they can unmask him!

After David hangs up, he meets with his mistress…er Ana. She tells him she had to defend Regina against Rene. She tells David about the Flor transplant showdown. Ana says Regina needs to stop provoking Rene; he wanted to fire her but she, Ana, didn’t permit it for him! David drops his head and then looks up. “Ana, thank you so much for helping her.” David’s gaze is humble as Ana says, “Do you realize everything I do for you?” David subtly, almost unnoticeably, shakes his head yes. She tells him the punishment and David finally looks away with a kind of smirk of acceptance when he hears that he has to do all surgeries during their week’s punishment. “Will I see you later?” she asks. “Yes,” he says. “I’ll leave you now so you can keep working.” Ana shouts out for the next patient as she leaves. [I’m sorry but, do I have a dirty mind or are they implying what I think they are? This is supposed to be love? Sexual blackmail in exchange to protect the woman you really love? Is that what they’ve turned our David into? This @#&s!]

The next evening, perhaps, David goes to the common room to talk to a stiff and formal Regina. He is his new normal, lackluster self. He came to warn her that Rene is out to fire her and to be careful. She thanks him. He says she doesn’t have to thank him; he’s doing it because he worries about her even though she doesn’t believe it. Regina looks away and thanks him again. Gone is the mischievous energy when they stole kisses in this same room; gone are the flirting eyes and the lips that couldn’t stay apart as they walk awkwardly toward the door, careful not to get too close to one another.

Please help with other scenes:

Daniel and Clara go to a movie and kiss!

Rafa and Cinthia make a date for dinner….and more?

Luis goes home to pack his stuff but Susana breaks down and tearfully pleads with him not to leave; she loves him, she needs him!

Anything else I missed! Thanks, Peeps!

MÉDICOS

Thank you, Lila. Hope everything is okay with you and your family.

So the scene with Luis and Susana was that Luis returned to the house to pick up some of the things he left there when he moved in with Arturo. He tells her that he got his own place and will only get some of his stuff for now and return later for the rest. At first Susana once again acted indifferent to him questioning what he was doing there when he first arrived then only saying “fine” when he said he would return later. Then as he was leaving that’s when she finally pleads with him not to leave and to forgive her etc.

While graphic I’m glad to see that organ donation is given importance in this show. I know someone who passed away from an autoimmune disease pretty young and some of her organs were donated, saving 2-3 lives.

I’ll see if I can go back and watch some of the other scenes again that you need help with.

((((Lila)))) i hope everything is okay with you and your family. I cant believe that you still provided us with a detailed recap. thank you.

El Ciego is muy creepy , and i loved watching Re ne's facial expressions when he is talking to him . Rene looks terrified. Foreshado wing as Rene confronts a guy who is stone cold evil , for sure.

MEDICOS 69/78

Gracias, Lila.

The dope on Michelle:
Carlos never knew that she was in the narco business; she told him a very different story and mocked up paperwork to help that. She only told him that her brother was a controlling, sexist a$$hole (He was). She has been leading Carlos around by his hormones every since.

She actually killed her own brother in a major showdown in this episode.

She is just as deadly as El Ciego and a lot better at the narco biz because she doesn't make a deadly move impulsively. Carlos does not realize this yet.

Alonso let Rene know that he knew he had something to hide and that he won't get away with it for long. He let him know that they are also after El Ciego and that he was putting the hospital in danger by having him as a patient. Also, that he is representing Gonzalo.

I didn't think that was necessarily a good thing to do:

--- Rene tried to get El Ciego to leave, but should have been smart enough to realize that the only place for this creepy crook to go is prison. That there is nothing really wrong with him should be an oversized red flag like a matador's cape but Rene is too busy looking for the green.
--- When Rene presented the bill to El Ciego the response was the bribery attempt. El Ciego has 20/20 vision for greedy creeps like Rene and knows how to manipulate them.

MEDICOS

Other scenes: Clara invited Daniel to see a horror/terror movie and was glad he accepted and said maybe next time they’ll see a romantic movie and said that the movie they just saw might give her nightmares and Daniel said maybe she needs a distraction so he kisses her.

Rafa is in the common room resting on one of the beds. Cinthia comes in and asks him how the organ recovery operation went. He flirts with her saying he wishes they were in a different bed together. She laughs at his behavior and proposes they go out to dinner to celebrate the successful operation and says they both need to get take showers....separately.

MEDICOS:

Lila, first of all, I am praying for your loved one and hope the situation has improved. With so much going on, you went above and beyond to provide another thoughtful recap, replete with humor and wise insight. You are so dedicated Lila but I feel I must gently comment that family comes first. We, your Caray, Caray family truly understand that.

But, once again, you continue to set the bar higher.

"I was ready to die, but you filled me with life. I love you, Hija!.” Lila, your exquisite translation of Carmen's letter had my eyes misting.

"We’re both single, we could have a good time. David says, well, it’s not a bad idea". I'm still scratching my head.

Your kindhearted and astute observations perfectly described the circle of life and death, sometimes harrowing in its intensity: "The grieving Mother and Sister are given a letter by Luz written by one of the recipients (Flor’s Mother?) of Rigoberto’s gift of life. They are deeply moved and appreciative". As are we.

I was touched by seeing the policemen lined up as the gurney was wheeled down the hospital corridor. Another tragic and senseless death.

"Rene’s got the mojo and the say-so and they had best respect it! Ana flings the mic in their faces and leaves!" was beyond and my favorite line of many.

I can add nothing to the El Ciego storyline unfortunately. Thank you for the info Urban.

Susanlynn, I can only hope this is the unraveling of Rene's lies. I am buoyed by the fact most are growing suspicious that still functioning equipment is being replace.

TF, thank you for the 411 on Clara and Daniel! I have no doubt most of their scenes are on the cutting room floor. Scenes we need the most! Also enjoyed your take on Cin and Rafa: "She laughs at his behavior and proposes they go out to dinner to celebrate the successful operation and says they both need to get take showers....separately". Excellent!

"After David hangs up, he meets with his mistress…er Ana" said it perfectly Lila!!! Who is this mechanical robot and what has he done with "our" David???

I guess I'm happy Susanna and Luis are back together?

"Gone is the mischievous energy when they stole kisses in this same room; gone are the flirting eyes and the lips that couldn’t stay apart as they walk awkwardly toward the door, careful not to get too close to one another" was magnificent.

Things continue to look rather bleak but your recaps always lift up our spirits and realize that no where is character more tested than when things go awry. Our characters need to buck up and get their head in the game (David, I'm staring at you!).

Lila, sending virtual hugs and prayers to you and yours.

Thank you....

Diana

Oh, TF!!! Thank you for asking about my family and thank you for always being the kind of Patio Peep we all need! Yes! That scene between Luis and Susana you describe seemed impossible to imagine a few episodes ago. So. She gave it some thought and was able to move past that first devasting fall off the cliff of grief! It MUST of helped to know Paulina is out of the picture.

Thank you for this. This is good to know there is value to this sobering story line:

While graphic I’m glad to see that organ donation is given importance in this show. I know someone who passed away from an autoimmune disease pretty young and some of her organs were donated, saving 2-3 lives.

Back later, Thanks TF and All!

MEDICOS (PASL ref)

When Michelle and her brother discussed taking over El Ciego's territory, her brother always said "Leave that to me," with a " you're only a girl" attitude. Understandably, she hated that. She took it upon herself to get to El Ciego through his crooked attorney. Ibarra went gaga over her, but doesn't know that she's involved in the dirty business. She posed as a client in order to meet him. El Ciego knows who she is, but is keeping that info to himself for now. I'm sure he thinks he can use it as leverage over her in the future. He (Ciego) doesn't know she's as deadly as he is.

Early in in the series, El Ciego tried to hire Vegas and Associates as his attorneys. Alonzo wanted no part of him in any way, shape or form. Thus the "venganza" began. Carlos readily accepted to represent him, because he's all about the $$$ - and El Ciego has, and is willing to pay, plenty. Not to mention he also hates Vega &'em. But fairly quickly Carlos realized he wanted out, but by then El Ciego had managed to involve him in money laundering, kidnapping, etc etc and the only way to "quit" him was to die. El Ciego always smiles in your face as he threatens, which makes him much more sinister, as both Carlos and Rene have found out. He doesn't come right out and say what he will do to you, but your imagination goes berserk and the emotional toll goes off the charts.

You’re welcome Lila and Diana. I noticed I made a little typo describing the Rafa/Cinthia scene but I’m sure y’all know what I meant lol

I don’t really remember the history between Luis and Paulina. Did he cheat on Susana with her? If so, it’s definitely a turn around that she went from essentially being a home wrecker to having a hand in saving Luis’ marriage to Susana.

MEDICOS

Lila, you keep knocking them out of the park, no matter how bleak things get! Fave lines:
Rene’s got the mojo and the say-so and they had best respect it! Ana flings the mic in their faces and leaves! As much as I hate when Ana "wins" at anything, this line had me actually LOLing :)
She suggest they take advantage and go somewhere. We’re both single, we could have a good time. David says, well, it’s not a bad idea. Ana smiles. [And your Hostess is like WHAT THE FUDGE!!!! Um, DITTO!! Last night, I literally snapped at the screen "It's not a bad idea--it's a TERRIBLE idea! David WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"

I thought the whole organ transplant storyline was really nicely done. The only PSA moment that had me scratching my head was when Regina was heading next door with the heart and mentions how wonderful it is that the donor can help so many people. How many in all? she asks Arturo. 20? He answers "30, if we count those that will receive skin grafts." An interesting conversation and a good PSA, BUT WHY ARE THEY DISCUSSING THIS IN THE MIDDLE OF SURGERY? Regina is holding a heart and Arturo is trying to focus on the surgery. The writers couldn't have moved this scene to a post-surgery moment? smh

Still waiting on a perfect storm of corruption to sweep Rene away: El Ciego + Rene's corruption with the equipment + banning Regina, Arturo and Luis from the OR. Now I'm hoping one of these thugs does something to really make El Ciego and he winds up needing surgery and the only one available is Rene!

Thanks for the love, Susanlynn!!! Yes ma'am, ITA, creepy and ruthless meets stone cold evil! How the heck is this going to end!?

OOOOO! Urban!!!! Thank you SO MUCH!!!

WHAT???? She actually killed her own brother in a major showdown . . .

She is just as deadly as El Ciego and a lot better at the narco biz because she doesn't make a deadly move impulsively. Carlos does not realize this yet.

Wait? She's the one that killed her brother, El Gringo? Holy guacamole! The Instituto has some major league eeeevil up in the hospital, don't they?

MAN, I could just copy your whole comment! I'm going to add this to the PASL cheat sheet. It's a big help since they have essentially merged the two stories. Urban, do you think they're trying to get some PASL stuff resolved that they couldn't in their own production for whatever reason? This is a tremendous help! GRACIAS!!

MÉDICOS #69, 10-21-20

TF @1:44 Awwwww. That's so sweet! YAAAY Daniel and Clara! I think it's a wrap! They are so good together.

Thanks for the Rafa and Cinthia scene, too! Let these two take center stage: they've got the fire; Regina and David are ice --YIKES! Can't wait for Rafa and Cinthia's date. I hope I am able to see it and give it some of the passion we've been lacking!

Cool, TF!!

MEDICOS 69/78

One thing that's been bothering me is Rene's latest thing with the equipment. How can he justify upgrading equipment when he is doubling and tripling fees for service to make up for alleged deficits? I was already expecting something to go wrong withe the heart transplant, but there is still time for that, This could lead to another lawsuit which would be a fiscal and PR nightmare.

MÉDICOS #69, 10-21-20

Diana, Amiga, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your prayers! Bless you and thank you, Diana! I had watched bits and pieces of the show and recorded it so, once home and my loved one was tucked away, I escaped to the therapy of the Patio. Believe me, had I not been able to do so, I would just post bullet points. But I did take a sick day!!! Your prayers and well wishes also make this a haven and please know this is not about me. This is OUR MEDICOS PATIO and I truly wish ALL of us well! We all have struggles!

"We’re both single, we could have a good time. David says, well, it’s not a bad idea". I'm still scratching my head.

Diana, I'm trying to control myself here. I know some of our friends are going to let it rip on this puzzling change in David's behavior. I don't like it one bit! They have butchered David somewhere I don't want to mention!!! UGH!!!

Gracias, Amiga!

MÉDICOS #69, 10-21-20

WOWSER, ANONYMOUS!!! GRACIAS, another keeper for the PASL/MEDICOS cheat sheet! I think I'll just defer to you and Urban for the wrap on these dudes! Man! Gonzalo was right to nearly blow a gasket when he realized his whole staff is in danger!!! With all this evil, the plot could go in any number of ways!

Thanks and please stay tuned, Anon, I appreciate these contributions. I know it's not the most popular storyline, this PASL/MEDICOS fusion, but they've done it and we need to know about it to keep up!

GRACIAS!!

Ana: We're both single, we could have a good time.

David thinks: A chill evening with a beer buddy, no strings, no expectations.

MÉDICOS #69, 10-21-20

TF@2:36 Yes, TF, Luis and Paulina had an affair that almost tore his family apart. Susana certainly knew of the affair and knew Paulina was the other woman so when Paulina turned up as the "expert" in the disease that Gabriel had, she was shocked, unbeliving and LIVID! And when Gabriel died, also she could see is this home wrecker that nearly took her husband DID take her son and she felt Luis shared that blame.

So yah, this is true: it’s definitely a turn around that she went from essentially being a home wrecker to having a hand in saving Luis’ marriage to Susana.

Thanks TF!!!

Médicos

Thank you Lila! And prayers everything is ok with your family!!

I’m not going to lie, I LOVED the fact that Ana wiped the smirks off their faces by saying David would do all the surgeries. Yes, Rene is an a-hole, yes, they did the right thing by going forward with the surgery. BUT their smug attitude was a little much. It was like “yes, we broke the rules and so what? You can’t do anything, this place needs us!” Ummm no, you are not untouchable, because Rene doesn’t give a damn and literally wanted to fire them all.

Ok, so my perception of the David and Ana conversation about a vacation was a different one. To me, it seemed obvious that David was having dinner with her because he was trying to get all kinds of information out of her. Once Ana said she didn’t want to keep talking about work, he backed off and i felt like he was just going along with whatever Ana said so she wouldn’t realize he ONLY wanted to talk about work. In a sense, he wants to “keep her happy” because he wants to get to the bottom of whatever Rene is doing and (hopefully) Ana will give him the info he needs. I don’t think he has any intention of going on any vacation with Ana lol. Now, I hope that his “keeping her happy” does not include sexual favors. I can understand him having dinner with her to get info, but anything more than that and i don’t think Regina could ever get past that (even if they ARE broken up).

I felt like there was too much focus on the por amar sin ley stuff last night. Ok I. An understand el ciego in the hospital, but all the stuff with the lawyer and his gf.. I was annoyed honestly. First of all, I don’t know who these people are, what they’re talking about, or what it has to do with this TN (nothing). I also think it’s unfair for pasl fans that don’t watch médicos because the drama from their TN is playing out in another novela. I heard pasl is having a 3rd season.. so are they going to reference what happened with their characters in another TN? What a mess lol.

PS. I also feel like they’ve killed David’s spirit. They better fix him! Haha :(

Hellashelle, what are they doing to our David for gosh sakes!!! WHAT???? I HATE THIS CHARACTER TRANSPLANT!! Please let my man going back to being visceral!!!!

Yikes on the tally of people helped with the organs during the surgery! It DOES sound like a commercial!

This is HILARIOUS:

Now I'm hoping one of these thugs does something to really make El Ciego [sick] and he winds up needing surgery and the only one available is Rene!

That would be great! Hey! Who was it that predicted Carmen might run away! Was it you, Hella?

Thanks, Girl!!!

Urban@3:33 Our new sober David is on to the irony you describe: How can he justify upgrading equipment when he is doubling and tripling fees for service to make up for alleged deficits?

It was good to see El Ciego make him squirm but like you and many others I want him brought all the way down!

What do the Secretaries of Health think about family members waiting outside in all kinds of weather and the dark of night; somebody should tell them about these equipment purchases and what do they think of having public enemy #1 in house?

MÉDICOS #69, 10-21-20

Anon@3:42 That's FUNNY!!! Oh, how I wish that is the scenario that plays out but David looks and acts more like a Stepford Doctor every day!

Why does he have to go out with his bosses for crying out loud? Okay, that's hypocritical. I enjoyed him dating Regina because I like her, but I don't like Ana so David needs to get a beer buddy or have somebody in his life besides his colleagues to fraternize with!!!

MÉDICOS

Lila (3:47), thank you for clarifying that for me. I figured that was the case. Again, neither Luis nor Paulina literally killed Gabriel. Luis was in a tough situation both as a father and as a doctor.

MÉDICOS #69, 10-21-20

TF You're welcome. I'm ready to see the writers put this suffering couple back together!!

UnOp!!!! YAH, I agree with you. That scene with Art, Luis and Regina bugged me and I didn't know why, other than I don't like Regina and Art together and smiling at the same time!

So, you don't think he intends on going on vacation with Ana? Hmmm. The way she smiled and having introduced it as "we're both equally alone" and "we could have some fun." I hope you're right, UnOP, cause I'm prepared to be kicked off the Patio for cussin'!

GOOD POINT:

I also think it’s unfair for pasl fans that don’t watch médicos because the drama from their TN is playing out in another novela. I heard pasl is having a 3rd season.. so are they going to reference what happened with their characters in another TN? What a mess lol.

Yes, they've killed David's spirit. Thaaaank Yoooouuu Regiiiiina!!!
NOT!!! I'm 'bout ready to let Art have her!

Thank you, Girl!

Ay Lila! I didn't wish you well for your family! I'm so sorry. I hope whoever had the health crisis is doing better today.

UnOp I think you're totally spot on about David and Ana. It's just...not...awesome to have them spending all of this non-hospital time together. Ana is working hard to spin straw into gold and Regina is giving not even an inch. !Que frustración!

As for the crossover work, they've got to be trying to build a shared fan base. It doesn't appear that the shows air their seasons and the same time. Since this Western-style of scheduling is new to them when it comes to TNs, I think they're just trying to find ways to keep interest in PASL simmering during the "off" season so they don't lose viewers in tne interim.

Médicos

Lila, muchísimas gracias. Super recap. If writing fantastic prose for us helped you, I'm glad. But I do hope you get some rest.

UnsolicitedOpinions, ITA your take on David.

Funny thing is I think Ana realizes this but is going along because she still thinks she can entice him. Fat chance.

I understand how non-PASL fans feel about Carlos Ibarra et al invading the show, but I'm getting a quick out of Alonzo from the Vega firm sticking it to René. Between Alonzo and El Ciego's threats, René might wet his pants. IIRC, Carlos thinks his "classy" girlfriend is a fine-art dealer.

Now how in hell is one surgeon supposed to fill in for three surgeons in an emergency room? It's not like emergency patients make appointments. What scares me is David will be the only one on duty when the El Ciego bust-out goes down.

MEDICOS

UpOp I also agree about the smugness of the Three Musketeers. What's funny to me though is that when Regina confronted Rene, I was totally thinking of Lila's questions from yesterday about what it would take to push Regina over the edge. It's not the same as punching Rene in the face, but I put that confrontation down as an act of rebellion on her part. Since it was noble and she had support, though, it didn't knock her down any pegs--enter Ana.

The thing that rankles about Ana is that she's actually really, really good at her job. She's cold and she doesn't care as much about the patients to the detriment of practicality, but, honestly, she's a great fit for her new position, where someone really does need to have that balance of caring and objectivity. She's had no issue following out Rene's orders with Carmen's bill, which was crappy, BUT at least she's aware of his malfeasance and, most importantly, INTENDS TO INVESTIGATE.

Again, though, the inability of the heroes to present their arguments with strength and clarity annoys me SO MUCH. Given the circumstances, I don't think it would have made a difference to Ana's behavior in that scene, but the Three Musketeers didn't properly gather their evidence or lay out their arguments: Rene TRIPLED a bill (which none of them bothered to check), presented it to a family IMMEDIATELY before a potentially life-saving surgery that was on a tight timeline and they did not have time to even consider this huge difference and then would have cancelled that life-saving surgery without even offering the option of a payment plan (which Ana, at least, did do).

I like them, I really do, but they making me want to smack 'em upside the head just a leeeetle bit.

What scares me is David will be the only one on duty when the El Ciego bust-out goes down.
Heaven forbid!

Funny thing is I think Ana realizes this but is going along because she still thinks she can entice him. Fat chance.
Agreed. Ana's smart, so she noticed his prying out information, but I think she still believes there is a genuine desire to spend time with her. And it's not that there isn't! David doesn't hate her or anything. He'd be fine spending time with her as a friend, even if he wasn't trying to get information.

Lila, sadly, no, I did not foresee Carmen's actions at all. Hopefully, they find her soon!

MEDICOS

"Ana thinks: Got'im! Hmmm, which nightie?

David thinks: A chill evening with a beer buddy, no strings, no expectations".

Thank you for that Anon!! Perfect.

MEDICOS

Lila: Same. I don’t know if I have a FAVORITE couple in this show but I did want the whole Luis/Susana situation have a happy ending. It’s sad what they went through, losing a child, but I’m glad that Susana realized that they should heal together from it. Not that I didn’t like Paulina but I have been pro- Susana and Luis reconciling ever since the aftermath of Gabriel’s death and when she started shutting him out.

Médicos

“Funny thing is I think Ana realizes this but is going along because she still thinks she can entice him”

Good point! I just hope this whole situation with both of them playing dumb (so-to-speak) doesn’t end with both of them in bed. I believe in you David! Lol

“Now how in hell is one surgeon supposed to fill in for three surgeons in an emergency room?”
I thought to myself- sure, David enjoys surgeries, but i don’t know how he feels about being volunteered to perform all surgeries for the next week lol

“What scares me is David will be the only one on duty when the El Ciego bust-out goes down.”

Yikes!
I don’t like that this thought even crossed my mind, but I’ll share anyways lol. I don’t want David to get shot, but I was thinking.. if he gets grazed by a bullet and Regina freaks out, she’d probably forget everything and take him back! Now, logically speaking I would love for them to actually talk and work out their issues, but that was just my unconscious mind looking for any way for them to get back together lol

MEDICOS 69/78

I have the feeling that anyone who enjoyed PASL would like this series and vice versa. PASL makes more legal fantasy than this makes medical fantasy so I hope that the writers have learned from this.

Crossovers in US TV only annoy me when the programs go into syndication and you don't get a payoff on a story crossing two programs that originally aired on the same network because they often aren't shown on the same cable network later.

Whatever happens in the last nine episodes, you can count on there being a cliffhanger. I don't know whether it's worth it to post a Karmageddon discussion because anything like that will be delayed. El Ciego entered PASL very early in its first season and he has yet to pay for all his sins.

Rgv Chick, thank you for your comment yesterday, Hon. Thanks for keeping the Peeps up to date on show changes and such and for, as Mr. Rogers says, just your being you!!!

UnOp sadly, I was thinking the same thing. The writers have turned him into a frickin automaton: They took Ana's pledge to Rene that she could control David too far!

Maybe I'm just a cynical old broad but I think they ARE implying that David is breaking Ana off a little somethin-somethin in exchange for her defense of Regina. *WINK*

Lol ... Regina wanted David to "control himself," so ... "Oh, she wants someone with no emotions? I'll show her NO emotions!"

MEDICOS

BINGO! Anon! Silly heffa!

Hey, Urban! didn't see this second comment. This season thing is new to me. I'm familiar with spin-offs and crossovers in American TV but the last time I recapped I'd never experienced a second season in a novela. I'm prepared for a cliffhanger I think. I've had to detach myself from Regina and David's love story. It feels nearly ruined. At this rate, she'll probably marry Art. Oh well. One thing is for sure, the two-hour finale is going to be a BEAR!

Uh oh...was the show on at 7 ? I missed it if it was.

Oh, no! Yes, it was Susanlynn! Sorry! Me and the Peeps will do a good rundown of it in the morning, Lord willing!
